Stigmatic Herald (Demon-Beast Crossover)
Andrew Miller has seen a lot of shit after over three decades of life as a stigmatic. He’s met most of the other things lurking in London’s shadows, been a part of nearly a dozen cults, murdered Unchained, fought alongside Agencies he’d previously tried to kill and made a name for himself among mortal occultists who have no idea what else is out there. He has one unshakable belief that guides everything he does: the conviction that the God-Machine is broken.
Andrew’s first encounter with the supernatural had actually been with the Begotten, although exposure to the God-Machine’s gears is what ensured his life would never be normal. As far as Andrew figures, there isn’t a good reason for demons and angels to be so antithetical to Beasts. They are both occult forces, and while grounded in different principles, Andrew ultimately believes in a unified reality. His hypothesis is that the God-Machine is out of sync with the rest of the occult universe, which is why Beasts react poorly to it and is the cause for its seemingly contradictory directives. It has taken years of preparation, but he feels he is finally in a position to do something about it.
Andrew wormed his way into the good graces of Ida Max, an Inguma Tyrant whose Horror reflected the fear of impossibly human-like machines. Andrew pushed Ida towards expanding her Lair and Legend in ways reflecting technology and machinery. While Ida couldn't develop Family Ties with the Unchained or the God-Machine’s angels, Andrew helped her forge bonds with other stigmatics, psychics, and stranger beings touched by the God-Machine. When Ida created her cult, Andrew became her Herald and began executing his plan. While Ida is more physically powerful than Andrew, he knows how to run a cult while making her feel like she is in control.
Now, Andrew is in the final phases of his plan. He’s started pushing Ida towards Inheritance, and while he’d prefer she become an Incarnate, an Unfettered or Rampart would also serve his purposes. As much as Andrew genuinely appreciates Ida, she has always been a means to an end for him. If he must sacrifice her to heal God, so be it.
If Andrew could still pass as an ordinary human, he’d look plain. Messy black hair, a body that’s gone slightly to seed, and a face that refuses to stand out all help blend in with a crowd. They also disguise his powerful, magnetic personality. When Andrew talks, he makes you believe whatever he is saying, regardless of how far-fetched it sounds. Between his stigmata and Ida’s influence over her Herald, Andrew lands solidly within the uncanny valley these days. His skin is slightly matte and rubbery, giving those who look at it the impression it is synthetic rather than organic. The veins under his skin are silvery rather than blue, appearing far more like circuitry than a circulatory system. His voice is distorted and synthetic like it is coming through a bad radio or an autotuner that’s gone too far.

 ¡Inguma, no te temo!
A Dios y a la Madre María
tomo por protectores.
En el cielo  las estrellas,
en la tierra las yerbas,
en la costa arenas.
Hasta no haberlas contado todas
no te presentes.

Fear Myth: the Primordial Beasts (addendum)
I mentionned in the previous post that Beasts: the Primordials has at its core, in its basic form, five families of monsters.
However, in later editions and expansions two more families were added, putting the exact number of families up to seven.
6) The Talasii
They are the captors and the jailers, the fear of confinement and restraint, nightmares of being imprisoned or kidnapped, held against your will. The "rape of the Sabines" from Roman mythology? That was them. They are the giant spider that will snatch you in her web to then devour you, they are the boogeyman that snatches kids who are never seen again, they are the dragon that keeps a princess its prisoner ; they are the constrictor boa who slowly strangles you. They can catch you with web like spiders or tentacles like octopuses, they can wrap you in plants' vines or mummies bandages. They can be even be "living prisons" or "unseen jailors", or even take the air of some of the modern days slashers from horror movies - think particularly Jigsaw from Saw and Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
They can enter into any area or building to take what they want, or lock you in the place they went you kept in. They can even paralyze you. On the positive side, these monsters about cruel punishments and humiliations, because they are not beings of torture. Their prime need is to keep you imprisoned and restrained, not to degraded you. Some even do their business out of a twisted sense of love, like vicious yanderes.
7) The Inguma
They are the "youngest" of the Beasts bloodline, being born only after mankind created civilization. They are the fear of the "Other". The fear of the foreign invasion or of the mysterious stranger. Born of xenophobia, they are the nightmare of invasion and infiltration, appearing as being "almost humans" and yet subtly inhuman, or rather "human enough" to appear disturbing. They are master schemers and spies with bizarre and weird mindsets. They are monsters and aliens disguised as humans to walk among us and pass as normal beings. They are robots and androids pretending to be made of flesh. They are doppelgangers who create copies of their victims, or "pod people" who replace said victim. "The Thing", from the John Carpenter movie? It would have been without a doubt an Inguma.
Similarly, two more "Hungers" were added to the five classic ones:
F)  The Whispers. They are the Hunger for and the Fear of secrets. These Beasts feed by finding out people's secrets and revealing them to the world. These spies and detectives expose all sorts of secrets, from merely faining an illness to political conspiracies. They are the fear of surveillance, of someone or something watching you, of finding out what you have to hide.
G) The Enablers. They are the Hunger for transgression, and the fear of temptation. These Beasts feed by making people break their own rules and then drown in shame or guilt. Depraved and hedonistic, their "lesson" is to teach people to "losen up" and to not stick to their ethics and codes too much to the point of fanatism. As a result, these tempters cannot mind-control other people. For allowing a real corruption and a real vice, the Enablers need to let their victim commit the transgression of their own free will.
Finally, the expansions added a new category of "Beasts" different from the regular ones - entities named "The Insatiables".
Why Insatiables? Because while the Beasts can easily satisfy their Hunger, the Insatiables are always hungry. Causing fear or nightmares is not enough for them. They need to terrify and scare and harm people in the real world, and even that is not enough. They need to kill them, they need to devour people body and soul. And even that cannot satisfy them.
Just like Beasts, they are humans whose soul is replaced by an "Horror". But this Horror is very different from the regular Beasts Horrors. The Horrors of the Beast are inspired by the real world, or manifestations of folklore and legends - they are vampires, witches, ogres, werewolves and other gargoyles. But the Insatiables... their forms are abstract. Alien. Eldritch. They can be a living goo filled with tentacles and eyes ; they can be a giant amoeba ; they can be a gaunt giant with no face or orifice but a hole in its chest ; they can be a swarm of glowing spheres with fanged mouths, or even more abstract horrors. They are basically the "Lovecraftian gods" of the Cthulhu Mythos.
Why? Because while the classic Beasts embody the primordial fears of humanity, the shared terrors of human beings, the Insatiables actually embody fears that were never felt by humans, terrors that are far older than the apparition of humanity on Earth. They are the nightmares of the animals, of the plants, of the planet itself. Far away memories only the Beasts recall - in fact, the Insatiables are considered the "nightmares of the Beasts".
As a result, the Insatiables are not classified in "families" but rather in "Moments". A Moment corresponds to a specific pre-humanity era in the history of our planet, a primal moment of nature that shaped the Insatiable. Not just primal moments, but primal changes that marked the Earth forever, moments where life struggled to exist and did not spread peacefully. Note however that each moment actually can be inspired by or influence modern days and human society - it doesn't have to stay a simple elemental nightmare or some sort of world-shattering event. But maybe explaining it will be a bit clearer :
1) The Clashing Faults
These Insatiables are born from this era where Earth itself was still being shaped. They are the nightmares of caves collapsing and mountains crumbling down, of seas and canyons opening up, of entire continents movings and crashing into each other, the primal earthquake. Cold, hard and brutal like the rock they are born from, they lack compassion, emotion or even empathy. Living in caves, valleys or in basements, they usually attract their victim underground or in a closed space before brutally devouring them, crushing them or suffocating them. They consider themselves to be a "constant of the world" and feel absolutely no remorse.
2) The Freezing Hell
These monsters are born from the Ice Ages. Coming from a barren and cold world of ice and snow, they seek warm food, warm flesh, warm blood. Appearing as humans with cold bodies and perpetually surrounded by a freezing aura, they like their houses cold and remote, usually with walk-in freezers and ice boxes to keep their preys. They are extremely patient, able to wait for long period of times, but striking fast and brutally, like the blizzard - they embody a world of brutality and scarce food, of a constant need to move in order to survive, of a fear of starvation and exposure. When they devour humans, they focus on eating their fat and drinking their blood, preparing for a new Ice Age that may never come. They can appear as vortexes of wind that freeze living beings, or a beautiful rain of snow that actually rips the flesh of people apart like tiny blades.
They can also cast more specific effects upon human societies and psyche - for exemple, they can cause obsessions and hoardings among regular humans, a pulsion of hoarding food and possessions in light of an upcoming cataclysm.
3) The Molten Earth
As their names indicates, these Insatiables are the remnant of when the world as just fire and the planet was made of lava instead of earth. Smelling like sulfur and ash, they are destructive beings prone to anger - but while they seek to destroy the world, it is in a twisted sense of "renewal". Just like a wildfire allows vegetation to grow anew, they see their desire to break everything as merely a way to cast down the old to allow the new to arrive, building the young on the ashes of the ancient. They think of themselves as the embodiment of change, but in truth they are just sadistic pyromaniacs with a fetichism for burns and a delusion of grandeur. Usually living in burnt buildings, coal mines or other areas filled with inflamable material, they always "cook" their food (which usually implies burning people alive).
In social terms, the Molten Earth can also manifest as a society filled and overflooded by hatred and violence, a world figuretively burning.
4) Primordial Seas
These Insatiables are the ones born out of the first seas and oceans in the world, dating back to a time where all lifeform was in the water and said water covered the globe. Born from the hungers, the pain and the fear of a newborn life that struggled to exist and multiply in a chaotic, stormy and deep ocean, they embody the fear of having to kill other to feed or to sacrifice others to survive. They are the law of the strongest, "the biggest fish eat the small fishes", even considered the most violent and the hungriest of the Insatiables. They manifest as leviathans and maelstroms, masses of tentacles, chimeras mixing up all the sea creatures ever existing or giant jellyfishes always snatching and devouring whatever passes by. Living in what looks like human-sized animal nests made of scrapped material and found food, they are extremely nervous to the point of anxiety and paranoia, their essence of survival making them always keep an eye out for predators and preventing them from ever truly resting. Because in their essence, in their Horror, is the horror of being destroyed by superior lifeforms, and the horror of becoming something that did not exist yet just to evolve and survive and climb the food chain.
Said concept of "food chain" and "law of the strongest" is also applied by the Primal Seas in human societies, for exemple by creating elistist cults dedicated to eliminating the lower class or poor citizens of a town.
5) The Void
The strangest and creepiest Insatiables. They embody the primordial time before our planet was even there. They are the cold, silent and absolute darkness of space, the obscure void between the stars and the planets, the primordial shadow that covered our world before the first fire or the first lava ever appeared. They are the first fear of the unknown, the terror of infinity, the phobia of the things we cannot comprehend or fully grasp. They are the unreachable distances doomed to never be explored, and the endless night that awaits us beyond eternity. They are also all the fears related to space - from the natural fears caused by the impossible landscapes that are the methane oceans of Titan or the black holes, to the theories about unknown and dreadful lifeforms waiting for us beyond galaxies and constellations. They can be the fear of gamma bursts able to liquefy our biosphere, or the terror inspired by a planet's atmosphere so alien and extreme we could not survive it. As a result they are very... different and unique beings, mixing fright and beauty, admiration and terror, both in their shapes and their lairs, and each if their own unique method - from hunting down people to devour their brain, to discreetly assassinating their victims and taking their place, passing by laying eggs inside humans that will  encourage them to spread chaos and despair, or making people obsessively infatuated and loving while draining their life essence out of them.
And just like other insatiables, the Void ones can reflect in term of human societies - for exemple, they can inflict a certainty that since the world is about to end and everything will end one day, you need to get rid of all of your possessions and empty your life, or that you can ignore all laws and moral conducts since justice and morality are empty shells. Existential dread and cosmic horror is also their jam. Their shapes can range from titanic spiders made of stars and darkness, to a tornado of burning chunks of meteorites. They also seem to have a certain affinity with modern technology and virtual spaces, such as this Void Insatiable that is a trolling master on the Web expert at virtually harassing people on the Net until they kill themselves.
But in general, the Insatiables manifest by the causing of irrational and illogical fears - a Void Insatiable can make a man convinced that he is about to die because all the atoms in his body will suddenly split as the whole universe will rip apart in a sudden expansion. Or a Molten Earth Insatiable can put in the mind of an airplane pilot that the ground has turned to lava and that she should not land under any circumstance. Or a Primal Sea Instiable can terrify a college student and make them lock themselves in their room by making them believe the outside world is a giant sea filled with monsters who will eat them the moment they step outside.
And that is why the Insatiables clash so much with the Beasts, as well as the main difference with the Beasts. The Beasts are monsters with lessons, morals and rules : they are the boogeyman that will take you away if you are naughty, or the monster that devours those that come too close to an area, the wolf that people should be wary about so as to not get lost in the woods. They are a warning. But the Insatiables? They have no rules, no morals, no sense whatsoever. They are horror in its most random and absurd form. One day you wake up and the entire air in the world has been turned to poison. You choose the wrong road and suddenly you fall down a crack in the earth and are crushed to a pulp. There is no warning, no sense, no purpose.
Among the numerous powers of the Insatiables, you can count: suddenly twisting or modifying body limbs in whatever shape is useful ; making people feel the effects of extreme weather conditions ; covering their bodies in hungry mouthes ; burning people with a mere touch ; soiling repulsively areas and causing fetid traces that will cause sicknesses and diseases ; leaving no trace whatosever behind ; making their victims see the world as it was before humanity ; manipulating reality to have bullets dodge their target or keep bodies warm inside a freezer (basically they manipulates the laws of probability and thermodynamics) ; turning humans into slaves by either pheromones or mind control ; breaking people's sanity by revealing their true shapes ; stealing powers of other people, or turning the skin of living humans translucid to see their organs clearly (as well as the ability to damage internal organs without causing any harm to the exterior organs).

25. Mano negra (varias comunidades)
