Psyche (Ψυχή or Psykhe) was the goddess of the soul in Greek mythology and depicted as a butterfly-winged woman in the company of her husband Eros (god of love). She was also once a mortal princess whose extraordinary beauty earned the ire of Aphrodite (goddess of love) when men began turning their worship away from the goddess and towards the girl. Aphrodite commanded Eros make Psyche fall in love with the most hideous of men but instead fell in love and carried her off to his hidden palace, where he hid his true identity and told Psyche she must never gaze upon his face. However her jealous sisters tricked her into disobeying Eros which lead to him abandoning her out of rage. She searched the world for her lost love and eventually came into the service of Aphrodite who commanded her to perform a series of impossible tasks which culminated in a journey to the Underworld. Eventually Psyche reunited with Eros and the couple married in a ceremony attended by all the gods. (Elie Saab Spring 2015 Haute Couture Collection)

mythology meme: ares
❝ But Athena, eyes bright, taking Ares in hand, called the violent god away with: “Ares, Ares, destroyer of men, reeking blood, stormer of ramparts, why not let these mortals fight it out for themselves? Let Zeus give glory to either side he chooses. We'll stay clear and escape the Father's rage.” ❞ ― Homer, The Iliad

Artemis (Αρτεμις) was the Olympian goddess of hunting, the wilderness, wild animals, the Moon and chastity in Greek mythology. She was also a goddess of childbirth, and the protectress of girls up until the age of marriage whereas her twin brother Apollo (god of prophecy) was the protector of boys. Together the two gods were also bringers of sudden death and disease with Artemis targeting women and girls, Apollo men and boys. She was often depicted with her bow and arrow, signifying the wild and untamed aspects of human life. (Ziad Nakad Fall 2018 Haute Couture Collection)

𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒖𝒔𝒂  —  the most famous of the monster figures known as Gorgons. Unlike the Gorgons, she was sometimes represented as very beautiful. Medusa was the only Gorgon who was mortal; hence her slayer, Perseus, was able to kill her by cutting off her head. From the blood that spurted from her neck sprang Chrysaor and Pegasus, her two sons. The severed head, which had the power of turning into stone all who looked upon it, was given to Athena, who placed it in her shield.
