So I've been wondering about one particuar point on the "Jiang Cheng marriage recquirement" list and it's the one about low cultivation.
Now on its face, except for the "must be nice to jin ling" point, the whole thing just looks like the most standard list of "ideal wife characteristics under a patriarchal society." naturally beautiful, graceful and obedient, coming from a good family, voice not too loud, etc. This leads to either the interpretation that jiang cheng really wants that (doubt dot png) or just... put all the most stereotypical things on a list even though that's not what he really wants.
In that context "cultivation must not be too high" sounds like a typical "men are scared of women who are smarter/stronger" thing. you know, the dudes who feel 'intimidated' when their wife or girlfriend makes more money than them.
...Except wasn't Yanli openly mocked for her low cultivation? Like, wasn't one of the reasons Jin Zixuan was such an ass to her initially because he shallowly assumed her lower cultivation made her an unworthy marriage candidate? Jin Guangshan may hate women who can read but society overal doesn't give the impression that high cultivation in women is seen as something undesirable. I mean... a wife that never looks like she's over 20 even as she starts aging? yeah I have no problem believing a misogynistic society is okay with high cultivation.
So if it's not there just to fit the stereotypical standard of an ideal wife...
Jiang Cheng, are you just describing your sister?
LIke?? Every single point on this list applies to Yanli. All of them. I don't mean this in a freudian incest-y way but in a "jiang cheng are you so unaware of what you want in a partner you just took the only woman you've had an unambiguously good relationship with and hoped no one would notice???" way. Does he know the difference in what you should like about your sister and what you should like in a spouse? Is he even aware he's doing this? Jiang Cheng answer meeeee.

"How pissed would I be if they got a heterosexual love interest in OW2?" - a tier list
Explanations below cut:
"GOD PLEASE NO" category:
Bastion: Not that I don't think that Bastion shouldn't have enough agency to flirt, it's only that Blizz would force Bastion to be male and their love interest to be female and THAT would make me furious. Plus there's so much more interesting things you could do with their character. If hetero romance is the only spot where my bot gets screen time there's going to be violence.
Soldier 76 and Tracer: should be pretty fucking obvious lmao
Reinhardt: If I attempted to explain my reasoning on why Rein is aro/ace this post would be incomprehensible. TL;DR I want this old and still single character to not lament about how he's somehow incomplete just because he didn't find a romantic relationship. If I ever hear the words "I regret that I didn't settle down" come out of Reinhardt's mouth I'm assassinating Blizzard's lead writers.
"Mad" category:
Ashe: they'd just write her as a tsundere. Plus have you seen this woman she's so gay. I'm claiming her for the lesbians.
Moira: I just think she'd much rather use the men close to her in her life as lab experiments instead, you know?
Orisa: To be fair, do you really think she'd be interested in any romance at all at this point in her life? Romance isn't going to protect Numbani.
Symmetra: Not that I don't think she shouldn't be in a romantic relationship, it's just that I think she deserves a girlfriend, you know? I can feel it in my bones. Plus I think blizz would try and make Lucio or perhaps a Vishkar employee the hetero love interest and THAT would piss me off so badly.
Sigma: this man needs therapy first, jesus christ
Ana: This woman's already sacrificed her family once in the line of duty. She just flat out wouldn't seek out another vulnerable connection like that, I think.
"annoyed" category:
Junkrat: this dude getting any screentime would annoy me, actually, so I guess I'm not biased against him being straight??
Mercy: She's already so cookie-cutter already!! Being straight would somehow make her even more statistically average as a character!!
Pharah: I would prefer that the writers focus on her mommy issues first.
Sombra: I could see her fucking around to manipulate men for information but I think she's got too much of a complex to actually let herself be emotionally vulnerable in that sort of way a love interest demands.
Hanzo: this man is sad and pathetic. no woman would be attracted to him. (WAIT ACTUALLY ALTERNATE JOKE- he had a wife and now he's post-divorce with zero fix-it tension. I think that'd be funny, actually. I would accept that.)
"Neutral but still not wild about it" category:
Reaper: whatever Blizzard is planning with his old family is probably going to come to fruition, and I can honestly say I'm indifferent as I never was a R76 shipper.
Cole: He's charming enough. Seeing him flirt with women wouldn't be like pulling teeth.
Widowmaker: "redemption through love interest" sort of thing?? I'd probably be madder if I actually cared about her as a character. She's also here because of Gerard shenanigans. Angsty murder-regret-pining for him would be tolerable.
Baptiste: see Cole's notes, but also add in the interaction that confirms he canonically loves MILFs
Echo: "learning how to be human through love with a man" falls just close enough to the manic pixie dreamgirl trope to set off my alarm bells but not enough for me to place her any higher on the list.
Doomfist: I could see him having an evil wife that's doing the evil shenanigans with him. Actually, I would like to see whatever design Doomfist's wife might have. I think that would be badass as hell. But on the flipside there's an equal chance that Blizz could think that pairing him with a non-evil innocent little lady could redeem him or add angst or something and that keeps him thoroughly out "okay" territory.
"Okay, I could be on board" category:
(there's a surprising amount of people here!)
Lucio, D.va, and Mei: These three all fall under the same category for me, and that category is "I think they'd be cute with their crushes". Of all the Overwatch caste, these three give me the strongest hetero vibes. I can't explain it. I apologize
Roadhog: I could be on board with him finding a gal that softens him up. Only caveat is that the gal shouldn't be conventionally attractive either or I will eat Blizzard alive.
Winston: Have you seen this guy? I think it'd be cute as hell to have him try to flirt with girls. "but he's a gorilla-" shut the fuck up. Let him have his moment!
Zarya: okay here I have to explain. You were probably expecting her to be up in the "GOD PLEASE NO" category because you thought I might claim her for the lesbians. And that assumption. . . kind of pisses me off? Because every frat gamer boy back in 2016 looked at her nontraditional femininity and the only way their puny minds could rationalize seeing a woman that wasn't tailor-made for their boners was to just slap the lesbian label onto her. She got labeled a dyke as a very hostile thing against her character, so I think it would actually be more forward-thinking for her to be open to male love interests. Bi or straight women shouldn't have to fear "looking too masculine" in their search for men. TL;DR I think she'd appreciate a femboy
Zenyatta: He's just so sweet! He can be in love with anybody he wants to lol, man or woman or neither.
Brigitte: Okay, okay, this one's on me, but Brigitte reminds me way too much of my sister, who is happily married to her loving husband and I can't get that out of my brain. I apologize.
Genji: He's almost exclusively here for the joke that he's been happily married to a loving wife for three years now, and nobody knows about it because he keeps his private and work life extremely separate, and he just never thought to bring it up until Torbjorn mentioned anniversaries. Just to really, really stick it to post-divorce Hanzo and whatever Soldier 76 has going on with Vincent. (I'm not sure why this bit is funnier when it's a wife instead of a husband, but it is. Trust me.)
Hammond: I want him to have a human girlfriend back in Junkertown. No explanation. She even knows he's a hamster. She doesn't care.
"(Canonically married to the opposite sex)" category:
Torbjorn: Torb my beloved you're doing amazing sweetie, you go spoil that wife of yours!! You treat her nice and well!!!
--- tag section
@ow-anteater I apologize but I need you to see this. You should make your own tierlist lol I'm interested in your thoughts on the matter.

Hi, your metas are super interesting, and even if I really enjoy fanon twilight, it's really cool to read opinions based only on canon too!
So my question is about the sexual orientation of the Cullens, do you think they all straight?
For example i saw someone saying that Edward maybe was demisexual and it left me thinking, so i just wanted to know your opinions about it :)
In short, no.
In alphabetical order:
Alice is with a man, but without getting into the mess that is Alice/Jasper here, I don’t think theirs is a particularly physical relationship. I mean, if Alice wanted to get laid, she could just decide to fuck Jasper, enjoy the vision, and bam. Itch scratched. Thanks, Jazz. Alright, I’ll be serious. Alice and Jasper are with each other because the other represents salvation, not so much because of a personal or physical attraction but because of mysticism. So to me that doesn’t really say much about Alice’s preference. All the same I can’t see Alice having a particular preference, she’s too... Alice. Although it is easier to picture her with women. She is also the second half of the Alice/Bella homoerotic extravaganza, which makes heterosexual Alice even more farfetched to me. So, bisexual or lesbian Alice.
Bella shows clear attraction to women as well as men. She’s attracted to Rosalie, Alice, Edward, and Carlisle. I’ll just give you guys quotes: Of the three boys, one was big — muscled like a serious weight lifter, with dark, curly hair. Another was taller, leaner, but still muscular, and honey blond. The last was lanky, less bulky, with untidy, bronze-colored hair. He was more boyish than the others, who looked like they could be in college, or even teachers here rather than students. The girls were opposites. The tall one was statuesque. She had a beautiful figure, the kind you saw on the cover of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, the kind that made every girl around her take a hit on her self-esteem just by being in the same room. Her hair was golden, gently waving to the middle of her back. The short girl was pixielike, thin in the extreme, with small features. Her hair was a deep black, cropped short and pointing in every direction. (Twilight, page 9) This is the Cullens’ introduction. I won’t spend much time on it, just notice the difference between Rosalie and the others. Rosalie is highlighted in a way Alice is not, and Edward is at first glance only the boyish one of the guys. Rosalie was the Cullen whose beauty immediately stood out to Bella. It was hard to decide who was the most beautiful — maybe the perfect blond girl, or the bronze-haired boy. (sic.) Bella has realized by now that Edward’s a grade A hottie, but she’s still torn between him and Rosalie. Bella then gets to know Alice, and they become friends who take showers together(!). Rosalie may be the most attractive Cullen woman, but Alice is the one Bella gets emotionally close to. We get this in New Moon:  UNNATURALLY STILL AND WHITE, WITH LARGE BLACK EYES intent on my face, my visitor waited perfectly motionless in the center of the halt, beautiful beyond imagining.  (...) I locked my arms around her, gasping to inhale as much of the scent of her skin as possible. It wasn't like anything else—not floral or spice, citrus or musk. No perfume in the world could compare. My memory hadn't done it justice. (New Moon, page 191) Bella never thought she’d never see any of the Cullens again, so for her to be hysterical and ecstatic upon seeing her second favorite is not by itself damning. I’m sure she’d be ecstatic to see Emmett too. It’s that fact that she’d missed Alice’s scent that’s interesting. The scent of her skin was something Bella was aware of before they parted. And while it may be tempting to say “it’s because they’re vampires, Bella’s admiring them like she would a work of art!”, Bella never dwells on Esme, Jasper, or Emmett in this way. Jasper and Emmett especially are not admired beyond the introduction of their characters. We never hear about what any of them smell like, nor does Bella remark upon their beauty after waking up a vampire. Carlisle and Edward, by comparison, are men she keeps noticing. Bella finds Carlisle blindingly beautiful when she first sees him as a vampire, and there’s this from New Moon: Though it erased the sting, it reminded me of the gash, and I watched Carlisle's face carefully to distract me from what his hands were doing. His hair gleamed gold in the bright light as he bent over my arm. (New Moon, page 18) There’s thinking someone is pretty, and then there’s gazing lovingly upon their face instead of pain killers. Bella is bisexual.
Carlisle moved in with a very gay man, had a close relationship with him, lived with him for the sake of his company for decades, and only left because of dietary differences. We don’t know for sure whether they actually had an affair or not, but the fact remains that of all the Cullens, Carlisle is the one who is implied to have had a homosexual relationship in canon. He loses his straight card based on that alone. Also gonna link this clip, because I’m Mac listening to Edward talk about how young Carlisle lived with this sexy Mycenaean Greek for a few decades when he was young. Aro is all the santas. Carlisle is bisexual.
Edward... oh boy. His brain is supposedly seventeen, and yet this very interesting thing happens in his relationship with Bella where he never notices her body. Not ever. By body I mean curves. Edward notices Bella’s skin, her frailty, her humanity. He praises her blushes, her doe-like eyes, her warmth, her softness, her swan-like neck, her delicious scent. The feminine aesthetic. He does not once notice her tits. The only tits he is on record noticing belong to Siobhan, and it’s because she has an impossible to ignore rack: She was profoundly female in shape—aggressively, forcefully female. (Midnight Sun, chapter Probability) It’s one thing for him to be old-fashioned and too quintessentially Edward to even think the word “boob”, but in 700+ pages of Midnight Sun there’s just this absence of this seventeen-year-old noticing her curves. More damningly, when seeing Alice’s vision of vampire!Bella, Edward is horrified at the sight of his love cold and hard. He doesn’t describe vampire!Bella by any of the positives, like “flawless”. Edward is attracted to the human, not the woman. What that means for his sexuality... well, I’m going to go ahead and point out that he is very weird about Carlisle, and it’s damning that the personality he projects onto Bella is so similar to Carlisle. I hesitate to apply a label here, but in my own, personal, headcanon we’re veering towards homosexual. Deeeeeeply closeted homosexual.
Emmett is straight. Straightest guy ever to straight.
Esme is pretty clearly taken with Carlisle. Though if she were to feel attracted towards another woman, I imagine she’d have no idea what to make of that, if she even recognized it for what it was. She’s from a very different time and still living in that time, and she continues to be very sheltered. Still, as per my personal headcanon, I see her as straight.
Jasper, who knows. Though if he’s into guys, he has probably gone for it in the past. I suppose I should write a meta on vampires and sexual norms in general, but in short I don’t think they all live monogamously like the Cullens. STDs and pregnancies are unheard of, as is social ostracizing. Vampires are hedonistic, Twilight vampires more so than any other. Which in turn means I don’t think Maria and Jasper were monogamous. A couple, sure, but I don’t think Maria would say “oh noes, I can’t, I’m with Jasper!” if someone she was attracted to made an overture, and same goes for Jasper. So, if Jasper was into guys, then sure. I can see Jasper/Peter happening, or even Charlotte/Jasper/Peter. Jasper is certainly into women, with the possibility of guys as well. And if so, then it’s probably happened.
Rosalie I’m shocked is with a guy in the first place, everything about her screams lesbian. However, she’s clearly into Emmett, so apparently she’s bisexual.
(I’m not including Renesmée in this, since she’s three months old by the time the series conclude.)
This all being said, several of these people are from very different times and wouldn’t have the same concepts of sexuality internalized as we do, so how they’d identify is a very different matter.

Yeah I'm making more Knight Rider crap yeah I have way too much to say about this show, what about it
So it's!! Apparently queer platonic relationship day!!!! I didn't actually know that was a thing until uhhhh today but I'm taking this chance to explain my headcannons for Michael and Kitt's relationship :)
Disclaimer before I even say anything-- most of these headcannons are the result of me projecting REAL HARD onto both of these characters, so, like.....that's probably important to note 😐
So before I even get into aNy of the stuff involving both of them I gotta explain why I headcannon Michael to be aromantic, which I know is a long shot!!! But I do have my reasons (other than being aro myself and desperate for representation)
If you think about it, it sort of makes sense. He's been with countless women, but very few of those relationships ever went anywhere. They always felt a little bit empty, which is probably just because the show didn't do much with most of the side characters, but I'm gonna use it to my advantage whether it was intended or not. The way it turned out made it seem like he was trying to find That One Person™ that'll finally make him feel what he "should" feel, but it never comes. Why do I say this? Because I did tell same exact thing :). And since there's really nothing that tells us he's attracted to men (no shade to people who headcannon him to be, y'all are rad and I love you) this little aro gremlin came to a conclusion: he's totally aro, and that's totally not just because I say so, because I totally have solid evidence.
Yes I am bullying myself for my shameless self indulgence shhhh
But anyways
A lot of people have pointed out that Michael and Kitt act kinda,,, Gay™ sometimes, which I definitely don't disagree with, but also, I couldn't really see their relationship as anything more than platonic, so I did some Big Brain Thinking and eventually remembered that queer platonic relationships (which I'm gonna be calling QPRs the rest of the way through bc that's a MOUTHFUL) were a thing that existed!!
In case y'all don't don't know, QPRs are (in short) defined as really intense emotionally connections that go beyond what's typically expected of friendship, and VERY often people in these relationships refer to each other as partners (sound familiar at all? 👀👀), but it isn't romantic. Or, you know, Mega Best Friends, which is the way I always define it.
For some reason it just makes sense to me that they'd have that sort of dynamic, but also... yeah this is just more of me projecting but I Don't Care, which is why I'm telling the whole internet about it
It's just that the show constantly keeps a focus on Michael and Kitt and how their relationship evolves and honestly how ELSE am I supposed to interpret that??? Like I don't even have much to say about it other than hOW ELSE was I supposed to interpret that, i--
TLDR Kitt and Michael are in a QPR mostly because I said so, but there's like, one or two decent points I've got going, and basically they love each other so much and I'm soft for them

Still not going to be posting for a while, but I had some Pokémon-related questions for you ^^
1) Not sure if you’re still doing the ship ratings, but what do you think of Giovanni x Cyrus? I go back and forth between them being in a relationship or Cyrus being ace…
2) I also have been thinking about trans Ghetsis and Colress… I was curious, how would a (pre-op) man prevent menstruation? In my headcannon, if either one of them were trans, both wouldn’t be able to get surgery.
Thanks uwu
---
Hello! I had stopped the ratings, with grades and all, but I don’t see any problem in commenting what you sent me. So let me see...
1) About Cyrus and Giovanni, I used to like that ship a bit more in the past, but I kinda grew tired of it, I don’t know. I mean, I’ve never actually shipped them, it’s never been too attractive for me, but there was a period of time when I thought it was rather cute. Now I feel pretty neutral, if not a bit negative about it. I can’t quite explain though, I think it’s because of how I have developped both the characters in my comics. Still it’s not like I would complain about people who ship them or whatever, I’ve seen some really cute pictures of them and really nice headcanons of them before. I’ve nothing against it, it’s just a ship that I don’t think I would be able to make work nowadays. About Cyrus being ace, it’s the headcanon that I’ve chosen for him in my comics. Aromantic and Asexual. Still, I’m also open to other headcanons for him. Gay Cyrus, straight Cyrus, demisexual Cyrus, aromantic but not ace, or ace but not aro... biromantic and gray-ace. There are thousands od possibilities  in terms of romanticism and sexuality for him, whatever you feel like working with will be fine. If you would like to have an ace Cyrus in a relationship with Gio, you can have him be, let’s say, demiromantic and gray-ace... Or homoromantic and asexual. Or demiromantic demisexual. There are ways to make that happen without having to completely discart the ace spectrum from his character. :) Also, nothing wrong with playing with two headcanons at the same time. Two different au’s maybe... Recently, I’ve become more interested on the idea of shipping Cyrus with Lysandre. This would never happen in my comics and is totally impossible in this headcanon, but that doesn’t mean I can’t think of what it would be like in a different hc, nd even write about it if I ever feel like it. ^^ 2) About trans Ghetsis and Colress, that’s great! All trans headcanons are valid. Actually, a while back, I thought about an intersex Ghetsis (More specifically, Ghetsis finding out he actually has ovaries and that he’s intersex and never knew it, and that helping him become less sexist and lgbtq-phobic). I don’t think it’s going to happen in my comics in reality, but it was interesting to think of. Anyway... About the period question, as a cis woman, I feel like I don’t really have the authority to talk about this in details... You should try to find some trans-focused blogs that could answer your questions. I did some research for writing my trans Piers, though, so I can try to say a few things... First, sadly, it seems like menstruation is not discussed a lot for men, which sucks, so it’s not that easy to find out info on that. Another consequence of that is, most of the things I saw were dysphoric men talking about how much period hurt them emotionally and psychologically, because it made their dysphoria much worse. I know it’s a huge issue for many trans men, as well as some NBs of course. Still, some trans man that don’t experience dysphoria have nearly just the same amount of discomfort as a women. No women likes having periods, we know that, so naturally no trans men like it either. But some can deal with it without getting dysphoric feelings. If you want to talk about period in a trans man’s life, there are many aspects of it that you can try to include. Many trans men I saw on the Internet talked about how they hated having to change their pads in a male bathroom, and how they had to hide pads or cups, and how much they feared having leaks in public. Many of them talked about incresed symptoms of other psychological conditions such as depression, nd suicidal thoughts related to “feeling like a woman despite knowing they are not” or like their bodies were trying to go against their minds. Well, you talk about “pre-op” men, that is, men who intend to have surgery at some point, but haven’t managed to yet. Still, surgery is not mandatory to stop having periods (although, of course, removing the person’s womb will do the trick). From what I’ve searched, you can stop periods with hormonal treatment. It takes a bit of a while for the periods to stop, since changes happen slowly, but eventually the bleeding stops. So yeah, not sure if you’re going to work with dysphoric men here or not, but you can headcanon that they take hormones and don’t have periods, or that they don’t take hormones and still have periods but that makes them dysphoric... Or, like my Piers, they don’t take hormones and have periods, but that doesn’t make them dysphoric. They can be pre-op, but haven’t got money for it yet, or are not ready yet, or whatever other reason for not doing it now, or they can be non-op, like my Piers, that is, trans men who don’t intend to ever have the surgery, even thought they identify as male. Basically, yeah, some men have periods and not all of them plan on making periods stop for good at some point, but that doesn’t mean they are less of a man. Well, that’s all I know from what I’ve researched on trans men and periods, I really wish there was more info about this subject, but I guess there’s still kind of a taboo around it, even for cis women, in fact. Anyway, if you want to know more about trans men dealing with periods, you should try looking for trans-themed blogs, some of them will surely answer asks on the matter. ^^
Also, any trans person that follows me and wants to contribute to this discussion, please do tell your experiences and all you know about it! (if you feel comfortable too, naturally!) I know that no one can talk about this better than trans men themselves, and I definitely would love to hear from you guys what it’s like dealing with that kind of thing. :) Not only it will help me with my headcanons for Piers, but also will happen many other artists and writers that want to work with trans characters, and may also help younger trans men who haven’t dealt with this yet. ^^ Feel free to submit, reblog and comment here, and please do correct me if I said anything wrong. :)

Okay, supernatural (not the show) au!
Bolin is bitten by a werewolf as a kid.
Mako and Bolin have been lucky that they’ve been placed in a foster home together but they’re both away of the very real possibility that they could be separated in the future. So they sneak, steal and hoard away what they can until they finally run away and try living on the edge of the city which borders the woods. Dun Dun Dun, they’re attacked and Bolin is bit.
Panic - hospital - found - separated, but not too far. I don’t know who their separate foster (or perhaps adopted) families are but they don’t have the closest eye on Mako. He spends every moment he can with his brother, even sneaking into Bolin’s foster home to stay the night with him whether or not the adults want him to.
Bolin knows he’s a werewolf, he doesn’t know how and Mako tries and tries to tell him otherwise but he just knows. And he panics when it’s close to the full moon until he can get Mako to promise to lock him up in the woods. Obviously Mako is like “what the fuck, no” but he ends up caving in just to help Bolin relax. Come full moon they sneak out and Mako “chains” him to a tree. (near where they were attacked, they’re young boys, they’re not the smartest)
In this au werewolves are not completely out of control and unaware so Bolin doesn't out right try to kill Mako. But he’s young so he’s wild and not in complete control either and both of them are scared.
In comes grumpy old senior wolf, Toza! (He’s not the one who bit Bo.) Who basically like “fuck ... this is not my responsibility” but he can’t just turn a blind eye to poor little Bolin and his freaking out older brother either. Toza sort of takes Bolin under his wing and by extension Mako. So their eyes are open to the world of magic and monster.
Realizing he is completely helpless in protecting his brother, pesters Toza to teach him all he can about magic. Toza not knowing a lick of magic sort of guides Mako in the right direction. And in that direction Mako find Zolt.
Toza is like “what, no, fuck, not him” but Mako’s in it now and it’s not like Toza really has any other suggestion. (Zolt may or may not play a bigger part in the story because of this.)Mako is more or less self taught in magic. Zolt isn’t exaction going to hold his hand and he’s not going to be patient. He’s not teaching for free either, not sure what the price is but it’s probably not ethical.
Fast forward, Mako has guardianship over Bolin they live in the shabby apartment that Toza live in. Mako mostly does maintenance and handy jobs while Bolin works with people like at a cafe or at a pet store. (Bolin is also 17 and his job options are limited.)((Also Toza is the school janitor, I thought about gym teacher but naw. Bolin is liked by others well enough but also known as the weird kid who spends his lunch with the janitor.))
Asami has a slight interest in the supernatural but she doesn’t actually believe in all that stuff. Her mother was killed in a burglary gone wrong and that’s all she knows. She sort of blocked out that magic fire killed her mother, and father never corrected her. He keeps his studies and hate of the occult close to his chest.)
Asami and Mako had a thing in this au and it wasn’t bad but Mako still has all his crap he needs to work through and doesn’t provide emotionally in a way that Asami craves and needs so they ended it. On much better, less awkward terms than in canon. (Not to mention Mako keeps his magic and more importantly Bolin’s secret close to his chest and has trust issues which is a problem for any relationship.)
They are since great friends and she’s the cheer captain of team “go to collage Mako we all know you want to”. Bolin is co captain. He keeps putting it off saying that he needs to take care of Bolin and that it’s too expensive.
I can’t decide on Korra. What the Avatar with equate to in this world. Maybe Korra isn’t “special” in the world at all but in still born into it. She might be some sort of elemental (water of course), or a medium of some sorts to still associate her with spirits. I don’t have a reason why she moved to Republic City yet.
Korra’s either in her last leg of high school or just graduated (depending on the time of yeah in the story I guess.) Korra and Mako sort of have this mutual “attraction” but it doesn’t actually go anywhere. They’re young and dumb af but have just enough sense to realize that arguing with each other 40 to 60% of the time isn’t a good basis for a relationship.
Bolin jokes about being a werewolf all the time. Like, every chance he gets even in subtle ways that people might not get. So Korra being born into that world realizes pretty quick that Bolin and Mako are playing on her side of the fence. Bolin and Korra are like ... lets tell Asami, it’s cool, she’s our friend. Mako is the only one who is like lets ... not???? ‘Cause you know, paranoid.
To be fair Toza drilled into their heads about people who hate and hunt folk like them. Bolin took it in stride as he does and Mako locked it among his issues, as he does. Korra also had these lessons but she’s in her reckless “god can’t kill me” phase of her life.
Not telling Asami does put them at odds with her a bit, she’s not an idiot and can tell that they’re keeping things from her. It’s not weird coming from Mako, she’s use to aversion to any sort of vulnerability but it starts to become so obvious when it comes to Korra and Bolin. Eventually she gives them no choice but to tell her. When Mako isn’t there of course, not that it matters because she runs to Mako immediately after because she can catch him off guard and he wouldn’t lie to her if she demands the truth.
Depending on what Korra ends up being, Mako is also the more equip to present small examples of magic at least.
Of course the moment she wraps her head around it, Asami is in it 110%. She is researching, asking them questions, trying to be the best supportive friend they have. As she does. It’s also when she realizes that some of the all collections of her fathers aren’t all just rare little pointless knick-knacks but she chalks it up to nothing.
Idk much about the other characters.
Opal frequents the cafe that Bolin works at. They’ve got a whole cute mushy thing going on.
Mako is repressed bi disaster of course. Possibly aro, it depends on my mood.
Obviously Korra and Asami are crushing on each other in that “we just great friends, the best, like sister, just the closest ........... fuck” kind of way. Cause why not get some hopeless gay pining up in this bitch. (I sort of like Korra realizing she’s a lesbian. Like this story aside, she has a realization that her attraction to Mako was less “oh he’s hot” and more “oh he’s cool and I want to be his friend”. And the older she gets the more she really only has attraction to women and had thought she was bi but then later identified as lesbian.)
Maaaybe Amon and whoever the fuck his brother, what’s his face, are vampires???? Keep a semblance of the blood theme.
Maybe the Beifong’s are hunters? Like, not “rah, gotta kill everything that’s not human” kind of stupid but keep the people whacked up on supernatural juice in check and from killing a ton of people just because they can. Maybe not all of them, like perhaps Su is very pro monsters and their rights and thinks they should live and let live while Lin is still all about order and no one, human, monsters or otherwise should be above the regulations and laws. So Su start hanging around the monster and magic crowed, and the not the best kind, which put the sisters at odds in this story.
I kept hoping that the more I typed, the more I’d figure things out ... But all this set up and I still can’t find me a plot.

since apparently theres no consequences for delivering unto this website extremely long and good takes i will present to you my hot take on the ace d'escourse, with no sources because I Dont Feel Like It. its more words than is reasonable bc i have been stewing in this for like 4 years and if i dont type it out at some point im going to fucking lose it. no, literally, it’s 3 pages long in word about shit no one cares about anymore. please remember to like and subscribe.
some background on me, i id’d as ace for something like 8 years, from the first time i read the wikipedia page on it back in maybe 2009 or thereabouts. i also id’d as aro for about a year in 2016. that is to say, i have a lot of compassion and understanding for asexual individuals and feel i understand the inclusionist side of the argument pretty well, as i never questioned inclusionism until maybe 2014 or so, when the discourse blew up. i took some time off tumblr because i was so fucking distraught to think that, as i id’d as aroace at the time, that i had to come to terms with not being lgbt. lol i was a little too attached to being ‘gay’ because... fun fact, past dumbass self... you are gay. anyway, i really dont want anyone to feel that i hate them, but after i cooled off a little bit i realized that the exclusionist take on asexuality just makes more sense. hopefully i can explain why clearly enough.
i really believe that what is understood as aphobia is 100% of the time simply a manifestation of our culture’s expectations surrounding sexuality. while “expectations surrounding sexuality” as a very broad topic does indeed cover both the lgbt community and people on the ace spectrum, facing these issues does NOT make a person lgbt. i subscribe to the idea that lgbt is for people targeted directly by homophobia and transphobia. ace issues ARE super important to talk about and the whole inclus/exclus nonsense is entirely because this discourse has been put under the wrong category. im aware that probably most people will not care that much about my opinion on the correct framing of asexual activism as i no longer id as ace but i think this is important for everyone. sexual expectations also weigh on straight individuals, especially women, and i’m going to describe a few examples to try to demonstrate why i believe both that it doesn’t make sense to consider asexuality lgbt as well as why it does make sense to frame it as an issue based mainly in misogyny.
call out post for myself, i use reddit, and i think the r/childfree community is a good example of what i think the framing should be like. although it’s acknowledged that not wanting children has larger social consequences for women, both men and women talk about their issues in the forum, including horrific accounts of reproductive coercion and rape, the intersections with race/being lgbt/ageism (although they could do a LOT better with intersectionality, many posters do touch upon it), profoundly cruel comments made by those who have/want children, difficulty finding an understanding relationship partner, discrimination at work, misunderstandings and even hatred from family and acquaintances, discrimination in healthcare, etc.
i think you can tell where i’m going with this. even though being childfree cuts against the expectations for sexuality in most societies, even though it leads to unfair judgment from others, and even though they face discrimination on the basis of the way they express their sexuality, childfree people do NOT frame parenthood/childfreedom as an axis of oppression, nor do they claim that their lack of desire for children makes them lgbt. it’s not even a question if straight childfree people are straight, because duh? nor if the presence of lgbt childfree people makes the whole community fall under the lgbt umbrella, because it obviously doesn’t.
to drive the point home, the reason why this is NOT an axis of oppression is because parents face a ton of issues as well! they also face reproductive coercion as well as judgment over the number of kids they have, constant scrutiny and moralization over every aspect of their parenthood style, judgment based on parents’ age/wealth/sexuality/marital or dating status/race, housing and employment discrimination, especially for mothers, the government hating poor parents and cutting their benefits, and more i’m sure i’m not thinking of. again, this is due to societal expectations of sexuality. to complete the analogy, people who aren’t ace face their own set of challenges and discrimination. part of homophobia/biphobia is tinged with hatred of our sexual attraction; no one except for straight white men is allowed to really express their sexuality without backlash, and even then there is this shame leading to a lack of proper sex ed and horribly unhealthy understandings of sexual attraction in a large portion of the populace. so calling aphobia an axis of oppression is just not right. and in addition, the large proportion of lgbt aces doesn’t make asexuality lgbt, that’s not how groups work.
some more on what i mean by ‘expectations around sexuality’... in terms of my experience in the US, there is some blueprint in many people’s minds of what a person should be like in terms of sexuality, and that is something like “cishet, abled man, who is neither ace nor aro, who gets laid regularly (but not to excess) starting no later than 18 and ending no later than 28 when he settles down with one cishet abled wife, also neither ace nor aro, who has only had sex with up to three committed boyfriends, and they have precisely two children, approximately two years apart in age, whom the parents can financially and emotionally support to the utmost, because they are also moderately to very well off, and the parents work under traditional gender roles to raise their children as conventionally as possible.” and if you deviate from this script in ANY way that’s viewed with moral panic and scrutiny by someone. and the connection to misogyny is that women are seen as sort of the bastions of sexual morality. we are punished especially harshly for nonconformity.
if you’re poor you’re fucked because either you don’t have kids or you can’t send them off to private schools and feed them fancy organic shit. if you’re lgbt or polyamorous or aro or ace? fucked! if you dare to reproduce as a disabled person, and if your disability impacts your parenthood, especially for women, you’re practically crucified even in liberal circles. if you have too few kids or too many (don’t you know only kids turn out weird? / how can you possibly raise 5 children properly?), if you have too much sex or too little, if you split up the work in your relationship not along gender lines, if you do unconventional things in your parenthood, like accept your trans kids or move a lot or any number of other things, the social judgment rains down like the fires of fucking hell. meaning practically no one can escape it!! huge bonus to the screaming crowd with pitchforks if you’re a person of color or a woman, mega ultra bonus to women of color.
but does that make everyone i just talked about lgbt? no! although every single one of the groups i mentioned is tangentially related through this issue, even though all of them face a lot of horrible problems and discrimination, that does not make those issues inherently lgbt. again, they are tangentially related and i could see a good case for solidarity among many of the groups mentioned; all of them are fighting for greater acceptance of different kinds of relationships, greater acceptance of seeking happiness and being who you are rather than pressuring everyone to conform as much as possible to the LifeScript. but all of those groups are equally related to the lgbt community - that is, tangentially only. just as you can be childfree and straight, a stay-at-home dad and straight, a straight woman of color, so too can you be polyamorous and straight, ace and straight, or aro and straight.
that’s it for my main point. ace and aro people? your lives are hard. i’m not going to downplay it in any way because i know there are a lot of people who actually hate your guts. fuck, i’ve seen people full-on shittalk asexuality, in the internet and real life, in the most blatant of ways, so it’s not just something you can necessarily escape by logging off. not as much so for aro people tbh but i predict as much once the Public gets more wind of your existence. i fully believe that you face a higher risk of sexual assault; discrimination in relationships, housing, and the workplace; horrible comments from everyone who thinks their shitty opinion on your sexuality and love life matters; and I believe you that that hurts and is terrible and that you deserve a place to discuss and provide support.
but. those issues are not exclusive to you. they’re not exclusive to lgbt people, or oppressed people, and so those issues don’t and cannot make you lgbt, nor do they make ace/aro vs. allo an axis of oppression. our communities intersect, yes, considerably, but you are not a subset of lgbt. perhaps our rhetoric can help you, but because straight ace and aro people exist you cannot and should not consider yourselves lgb+. i think you understand that the issues you face are a form of oppression, but they are the result of the toxic and misogynistic sex culture in this society, which, yes, targets lgbt people but also, practically everyone, including groups which are definitively absolutely not inherently lgbt, such as parents, gnc straight people, poc, disabled people, the list goes on.
to conclude, what really converted me to being an ace exclusionist was the example of a straight grey or demi ace. how could you possibly argue that someone who falls in love with the opposite gender only, but with more conditions or less frequently than someone not aspec, is lgb+, can call themselves queer, etc.? exactly what material reality does that person share with a gay or bi person? i think that their issues fall in line with aspec community issues but extremely clearly not at all with lgbt ones.
the end but post script since i brought up orientation modifiers: perhaps it isn’t my place to say, but i don’t think that microlabels are very healthy and that it would make more sense for the ace community to work on expanding the idea of what sexuality is than to try to create a label to describe every single person’s experience of their sexuality. not that i think you should necessarily kick grey ace people out of the aspec community or that they’re not valid or whatever, but that perhaps it makes more sense to say that some people experience sexual attraction less frequently, and that’s alright. i don’t know.  i spent sophomore year of high school poring over those mogai blogs looking for some new orientation label that would make me go like, oh my god that’s me! and believing that if those labels helped people feel that way they weren’t doing any harm. but what actually finally made me feel like that was expanding my understanding of what attraction is and a better conception of lesbian issues and why i might feel so disconnected from my sexuality and why i might be obsessing over every interaction with a guy looking for signs i was attracted to him but feel super disgusted whenever they exhibited interest in me. i spent so long trying to go like maybe im cupioromantic lithsexual and feeling terrified that that i had such a weird and esoteric sexuality that no one could ever possibly understand enough to be in a relationship with me... like, ok dyke! i know a lot of people have had similar experiences and i don’t think i know a whole ton of people now in college who are still doing that, which makes me think those labels are more harmful than not.
i guess that’s anecdotal but it’s easier for me to believe that a person could cling to those labels due to internalized homophobia than actually have a new form of sexuality heretofore undiscovered throughout all human history, but that’s just me. and so many of them just sound so unhealthy, like dreadsexual. i really wish people would work on expanding what not being asexual can mean and look like and i dont think there would be this drive to create these labels anymore. even demisexual which i think is probably the most mainstream conditional orientation, i think many people who have never heard of it and are perfectly content not to would describe the way they experience sexuality a similar way and just consider it normal. sexual attraction isn’t necessarily having your nethers set aflame upon first making eye contact with someone, it looks different for every person and it’s alright to just be how you are without making it part of your whole identity.
The End II. this is 2,200 words. if you read this far you’re a fucking mad l- *the academy cuts my mic line while looking directly at the camera like in the office*
