The ideal present

I've been thinking about the development of time and what would be the ideal present, are we really following the true present? Are you confused?

You may remember that Tsuchigomori said that Amane's future is to become a teacher, but he changed his destiny, something that should have been impossible. If we are following Amane's impossible destiny, it means that we are not in his ideal present.

About the ideal present, what it suggests is that time is trying to reestablish itself. Amane's ideal future is to be a teacher, but the future was changed, that is, he is no longer ideal. We were seeing a bad future for Amane.

It was the present, the present set in a wrong branch in Amane's past. Tsukasa coming back is a paradox, and a temporal paradox is a flaw in time. That's why Kako said the problem is Tsukasa.

How could he come back if Nene only knows him if Amane becomes Hanako? I mean, for Hanako to meet Nene, he needs to have killed 12-year-old Tsukasa and then killed himself, but for Hanako to live with 12-year-old Tsukasa, little Tsukasa needs to come back, and that will only happen when Hanako falls in love with Nene.

Did you see the confusion? How could Nene find little Tsukasa without Amane turning into Hanako? And Amane can only transform into Hanako if little Tsukasa comes back.

Here's the glitch in timing. According to real physics, paradox is a glitch in time, and therefore it is considered impossible. So we can use the grandfather paradox as an example. In physics they say that the grandfather paradox is based on you trying to go back in time to kill your grandfather.

But if you do that, you won't be born, if you aren't born it's impossible for you to go back in time to kill your grandfather. There is only one possibility of this becoming real, if it is in a multiverse case.

You go back in time and kill your grandfather, but a new timeline is born, where you were not born and your grandfather was killed. If there is a paradox, then we are not in the multiverse theory.

So, in fiction we enter chaos theory, a paradox that leads to constant consecutive errors in time and that generate a catastrophic and destructive future.

The school's future is destruction, as we saw Mirai move forward in time, meaning Tsukasa returning is a mistake. Amane, Nene and Kou created this error in time, and it is trying to reestablish itself. Number one is the guardian of time, and having that title, his logic makes sense.

It turns out that Hanako is trying the impossible to keep Tsukasa by his side, even though fate says it's not possible. This explains why Tsukasa must also hate rules, destiny is a rule without exceptions, if you are destined for something, there is nothing you can do to change it, as Hanako himself said.

He knows the rules, but he wants to go over them, like he did with Nene too. As long as he insists, the paradox will continue and worse consequences will arise.

So we're following the wrong present, all because Tsukasa came back. The other future that could be ideal was for Amane to die and Tsukasa to stay alive. If Tsu had never met that creature, Amane would die of the disease.

But since Tsukasa was able to talk to that creature, it means that it was Tsukasa's destiny to sacrifice himself. Just use the same logic that Hanako applied to him and Nene. If Nene managed to summon him, it means she was close to death.

Just like Tsukasa, the only exception would be if he came from a special family, like the Minamotos. We don't know about this in their family, so this hypothesis should be kept aside for now.

Based on the information we have, Tsukasa was destined to die and live alone in the red house, his sacrifice is necessary for the flow of time to move towards the ideal future, for Amane to grow up alone and become a teacher.

Which means that we will probably now follow the twins' ideal present and how things should have happened from the beginning, that is, we will see an adult Amane being Nene's teacher?

Hi!! Could I request a tbhk female reader x whatever characters you like? I do actually want Teru to be one, but other than that whatever you want!! I was kind of thinking that they would catch reader in a really heated argument with her brother (raised voices, lots of passive aggressiveness, etc.) And her brother would just kinda walk off, making her quite emotional. You totally don’t have to if you don’t want to. I really like your work though!! Make sure to get some good rest!!!

Kou Minamoto

-Kou would love to bring the food he cooked, so he caught you and your brother in an argument while he was trying to bring it to you.

-It was near the end of the disagreement so it was quite heated and you were having a bit of an emotional breakdown.

-Kou waited for your brother to leave before entering the room.

-He wrapped his arms around your body in a comforting way just before he put the basket of food down.

-If you start ranting/venting to him he doesn't mind. If it helps get your mind off of things or at least feel better. His brother gets on his nerves too.

-He tries getting you away from the room. It has too much tension right now.

-It depends if you're at school or not, if you're at school he'll just pull you into a classroom or a hallway to calm your nerves.

-If it's at home he'll pull you into your room, wrap you in a blanket, maybe put a movie on to distract you.

-Even if the argument was over something tiny, you and your brother should not interact for a bit. Once you both cool down you can apologize to one another.

Teru Minamoto

-He's usually busy so chances of him visiting you are rare. It's usually you visiting him instead.

-You had left something at his house so he went over to you to return it.

-Teru has better reflexes and reads the situation, unlike his brother.

-He gets between you two trying to bring the situation to a halt.

-Your brother just scoffs and walks away, leaving the argument unsolved and tense.

-Teru wants to go after your brother, but he comforts you instead.

-And even if he doesn't know how or why you were arguing he tells you it can be fixed later. You don't need to worry right now.

-He doesn't do much to comfort you since he doesn't entirely know how to.

-He talks to you saying things like, "It's over. You don't need to be so flustered right now."

-He'll sit you down and if available, grab a bottle of water.

-While he doesn't fully understand what to do he gives it his all.

-Well, he at least asks for your side of the story, before going to have a talk with your brother.

Yesterday I was thinking about something... remember the first time Tsukasa saw Yashiro and Kou? That time in volume 4

Well, I went to take a look at it and noticed something interesting, Tsukasa's reaction when he saw the two was the same, he said the same thing, he just had different expressions.

Let me show you

That was his reaction when he saw Yashiro, "wow" was what he said with an expression that was kind of impressed and surprised at the same time, and then he held her hand and smiled at her.

Let's take a look on his reaction with Kou now

It was the same reaction. "Wow" again, but this time he seemed more shocked and angry

These could be completely normal reactions and easy to ignore, if it weren't for what happened at the Red House. That's where Tsukasa met Yashiro and Kou, it was his first contact with them

At that time the two helped and protected Tsukasa, they had empathy and compassion for him. One of the first people to care about him probably, he was very happy with their visit, he said so himself

Tsukasa liked them both, he still likes Yashiro, remember? He doesn't hate her, she helped him in the past, why would he hate her? Same reason with Kou, especially since Kou was the one who spent the most time with him. In fact, Tsukasa is grateful to them for visiting.

Apart from the fact that Kou said all those things to Tsukasa, but I'll ignore that for now

Tsukasa having the same reaction to both of them is now justified, so it's not a coincidence. I believe that Tsukasa with the seal has all the memories from the Red House, so from the beginning of the story he already knew who Nene Yashiro and Kou Minamoto were

This reaction demonstrates surprise and how impressed he was with these situations. The people who helped him before were now against him. Anyone would be surprised, right? Especially Tsukasa who doesn't have a good understanding of emotions

Speaking more directly about his reactions, I'll start with Yashiro.

In addition to being impressed, his surprise may be that she is together with Hanako, and her purifying powers are being shown. And she really hurt Tsukasa in a way, attacking him first. The shock of seeing an old friend is present here, the surprise of seeing where that person has come, and even more so being so close to someone you love. Maybe he felt hurt? Betrayed? She attacked him, she didn't remember who he was. But maybe he already expected this, he knew it could happen.

Talking about Kou

Tsukasa was in shock to see Kou again, and perhaps more shocked to see his old friend with such an angry expression on his face. That expression was for Tsukasa. Kou didn't recognize him either. How could he? That hadn't happened yet, at least for Kou. Tsukasa was also angry that Kou was interrupting his goal at the moment.

This is it. He was surprised to see two old friends again, and this time, against him.

brutality, no survivors.... incredible suffering for the girlies (you, me, JP twitter)

and here I thought shenanigans would continue... this promo image was an immediate punch at 6AM

and yet this was all things considered the easy part...? ugh, but... please a moment to drink it in... all of my beliefs in the true power exchange... it's so satisfying to see it like this. it's easy, simple to still Tsukasa, isn't it... towering, presiding older brother.... his joudai trailing... touch your seal... the virtue by which you are kept safe, kept his. Poor Tsukasa. covetous object...!

a rascal....! uhh I love pocket-sanding Akane with old man parts ... amazing technique ahaha, Tsukasa knows how to make people lose focus huh? he's in such a good mood isn't he~ not as resentful as he was towards Mirai pestering him...

mirai explode lol.... I can't say I feel much personally, I guessed she might do this ... it's sweet of her to protect Akane, but I can't think much of it, beyond what it contributes to how we should feel about her. Noble rat after all? not so dumb as Akane had said before?

Mirai holding the yorishiro makes sense, for why she's typically locked in their boundary without any freedom. sure... easy. another key to haunt us! more keys why NOT

I like to see Natsuhiko being cool like this ... ♥

but this is so interesting...

I'm never sure how much Mitsuba really understood about the Broadcast club's greater plans... I wonder if Natsuhiko is being literal here, and Mitsuba DID know what he had to do, but had settled on his suicidal ennui.... ah, having to analyze your life for something precious is grim... he has an issue of not appreciating what he has while he has it, and being unable to state it...

.... and there's nobody to correct him. This is such a manga about... 'reasons'....

among the things even possible.. that poor keychain was destroyed. I wonder if there were a few things going on in Mitsuba's mind even then...

I really like... that mysteries, kaii need something anchoring them... I like that it's not enough, to exist... I like that the body naturally dilapidates, 'wants' to move on or become something else. It's a great metaphor....! In this manga... the most important thing, is loving something. If you don't love something, you can't stay alive. You won't....

I'm still wondering if the original thing Kou gave Mitsuba back in vol. 7 will ever come back around... or if it just gave him a complex or curiosity about the 'old' Mitsuba (who he snoops on in PP after this, so....) ... and can't itself be precious so much as worming...

anyhow... I like this turn of events, but it is so shocking we're stacking handling No. 3 and also No. 1!!!! I can't believe it!!!! IT'S ALL HAPPENINGGGG?????!?!? We haven't stacked mysteries like this before ~~!!!! It's so exciting.... I like Natsuhiko a lot in all of this ♥ I don't know... like with Tsukasa and Mitsuba, I believe him that he found it all charming in its own way, and that he wanted to offer what he could to Mitsuba for the timebeing. It's not as if there are other options, here... Mitsuba... really was never doing the things that needed to be done.... or letting others know what he needed to do.

I suppose Natsuhiko could wake up Kou to watch this if he wanted, but I find it much funnier if Kou just has to wake up at the end of this and Mitsuba is eradicated... lol...

can't say I really understand Teru's position about the mysteries...

you understand the mysteries are a kind of structural pillar for this region, but the pressure that was weighing on Hanako at least seemed to be the Minamoto ... it was that imperative the Broadcast Club's been taking advantage of. The rumors created an excuse to justify the sense of mistrust in the mysteries. But I'll never quite know what Teru is even capable of ... since he shouldn't be able to touch yorishiro ... but directly threatens to exorcize mysteries. Can you have extant yorishiro without the mysteries utilizing them.... ??? Well, I just don't understand it yet.... must put it aside.

back to what really matters...

I love how peaceful, relieved, serene he looks here.... finally, you've been so patient, Tsukasa... every little step of this has taken so long.... holding the last yorishiro in your hands... trusting Amane to handle you, after... it must feel good. The end in sight....

back in this position, are we?

ah.... poor Amane. For a moment... I appreciate what he's trying to do, here. He sounds patient... he sounds like an older brother. Explaining so cleanly...

you want to be sure Tsukasa understands... maybe you think-- he hasn't thought this through, or he doesn't get the consequences, he's being childish, or reckless, maybe he's misunderstood how it happened before ... I love to hear Amane, say something so direct as... won't see you again.... won't be able to save you ... everything he did last time! to ensure... that you wouldn't be apart! the binding of their souls! tying Tsukasa down to him like a ship in a storm! protection, mooring... keeping you, where he can see you! remaining together, at all costs! that's important to you too, right, Tsukasa? don't you want to see each other?

it's as if you're saying you don't want to be together, don't want to be saved... what do we do with people who don't ask you to save them? why must they insist on leaving you behind?

Mitsuba won't ask Kou to save him. Sumire wouldn't ask Hakubo to save her. Aoi didn't want Akane to save her. I wonder if Tsukasa didn't ask Amane to save him, but Amane did it anyway... her certainly wasn't asking for a hero in the Red House, or to live on coming back.

it's a kind of rejection, isn't it? When someone is so ambivalent about the life you love so much... the life you want with them... it's as if they're saying, "I don't want to be with you enough to live for you."

Of course, every time, they're really saying ... "I just don't know what I mean to you." Mitsuba doesn't feel valuable to Kou; only a replacement, a reminder of something he once cared about. Best to give up. Sumire imagined Hakubo was only placating her, and could only wish not for his earnest sadness, but for him to pretend to be sad for her. Best to let death happen. and Aoi didn't feel Akane knew the real her, imagined he would reject the real Aoi, only in love with his grand projection of her. Best to step away now.

Of course, Tsukasa thought his brother hated him, so...

It all feels so simple and logical! It's saving trouble, right?

Amane made such a gesture last time... in their shinjuu... he tried, he really tried, to say something ... to Tsukasa.

but, the message didn't go through...

but I can only be so sympathetic to Amane, as he's an incredible hypocrite. Of course, Amane has put Nene-chan through everything Tsukasa puts him through.

You also try to grant your beloved a wish for a future that explicitly doesn't involve you, and make her feel rejected, abandoned, given no choice...

Amane...

oh, Yugi twins....

.... why can't you understand when you're precious? Why can't you understand how bad it hurts, to abandon somebody? Amane-chan really suffered without you, Tsukasa. You're always the one leaving him, and getting to feel sacrificial about it. He's trying to tie you down....

.... it's a natural response... to lash out. Rejected... misunderstood... abandoned... why is Tsukasa asking you to give up on him? Why can't he understand, even with that seal on his cheek... even as you died with him....

I really love that for the chapter's end.

Amane's feelings never did reach Tsukasa. It wasn't understood, what he had tried to do, his sadness now. But... Amaneeeee....

maybe you could use a taste of your own medicine....

..... I'm out of images, so I'll continue in a reblog, for a couple more thoughts I'm having ....

but for this post... ahhhh. It's unbelievable we're at least starting to tackle... this. I feel bad for Amane, I really do... I feel bad for Tsukasa, too. It's hard to not hurt someone you love ... in an attempt to only hurt yourself. If we hurt ourselves, we hurt the thing our lover adores ... we spit on their love for us.

I can understand why and how Amane can say "I hate you" ... to Tsukasa. As much as Akane could childishly say it to Aoi ... and you know, it is that same unimaginable love which makes it possible. Years of familiarity, it makes you more liable to lash out. There is such a greater sense of betrayal, when you've expended so much effort... when you try so hard for someone... when you're in so much pain about them....! After all I've done... you CAN'T say this or that to me.... etc, etc! Those intense emotions... can make you feel entitled, to never be hurt... you can't hurt me, after all I've hurt for you!

and I do think it's being said extremely childishly... daikirai... he's just, unable to be any more constructive with his feelings, he's so... hurt, mad. As much as Nene-chan is so mad, hearing Hanako spit on all of her efforts she made to reach him... BIG SLAP!!!

Amane, he's maybe endured 50 years of effort and an awful lot of physical suffering for Tsukasa, and it's not gotten through... wwww! I'm sorry, I'm worried Tsukasa might have a PROFOUND amount of suicidal urge. Might be an uphill battle, Amane... you might just need to save Tsukasa because you are selfish, and you want him for yourself. There might be no easier reason ... to keep him by your side. We can't make Tsukasa beg to stay with you... but you won't beg him to stay, will you? I think that would actually do a lot of good, Amane... but you really won't do that....

meanwhile, I love the juxtaposition of Nene-chan's incredibly childish DAI DAI DAISUKIII and this daikirai lol... we all have big feelings don't we lol....! well...

Haven't done one of these in a while! My favorite panels in no particular order.

I just love how in the drama and morbidity of it all, Hanako's trait of unconsciously? constantly? touching Yashiro has remained consistent. And Nene's blase attitude about it (and the blood, like wow this girl has become desensitized and that's another worrisome conversation for later). No wonder she feels as if they haven't really changed at all despite her confessing her feelings, since after all they've been like this since the beginning! There's just something sweet about Hanako wiping blood off of her cheek with his sleeve as a parallel to when he wiped away her tears back then.

AidaIro does it again! This is such a gorgeous, ethereal, and unsettling drawing. Speaking off this whole arc, this brings to mind the Mokke of the Dead arc. I had this theory that there was something about Nene that allowed her to purify things (as opposed to exorcising them), so who knows! Maybe (once again) salt water she touches could work against Natsuhiko's blood? And the current flower zombie plague? I thought that special trait of hers had something to do with being a kannagi, but now that I recall, even Teru seemed surprised during the Mokke of the Dead chapter. If this special trait of hers had something to do with being the kannagi, then Teru would have expected it. So maybe it has something to do with her now being a (half-) mermaid? Or perhaps there's something more to Nene's past we're not privy to yet.

And finally, last and actually my most favorite! Oh wow, Hanako's most definitely traumatized. Now we know how he would have reacted if the akanene kiss succeeded. And actually this is the worst duo to find him in his (arguably) most vulnerable and saddened stated to date. But I don't care! I am so excited for the potential of this trio like you wouldn't believe! There's isn't even the enemy of my enemy is my friend here since all three of them hate each other's guts haha.

Speaking of, I always wondered why Akane persisted with the 'Honorable' despite hating Hanako, but then again this is the guy who still consistently calls Teru 'Student Council President' and Kou as 'Minamoto kouhai' so despite how outwardly he will be blunt with those he dislikes, he still keeps to the formalities.

And Aoi not being at the auditorium is most certainly a Checkhov's gunman type of situation. You'd normally think that meant that she was frozen yet I don't think that's the case. I can understand why Akane would be free from the time freeze, but not Teru, when even Kou was frozen. It's possible that Teru's bracelet allows him a measure of protection, so if that's the case then Aoi's probably unaffected too. But if that's the case wouldn't Akane's first priority be her?

Who knows? Considering the bonding they did on the train, maybe Aoi makes Hanako's case for him and this gets Akane and Teru to back off. In a reverse situation from the No. 6 arc, it would be the four of them off to rescue Nene.

As an aside, I seriously love hakujoudai. They look so worried about Hanako! Seriously, part of me still think that the hakujoudai (Hanako's and Tsukasa's) are actually the spirits of their parents still watching over them.

What is your opinion on teru minamoto and how he is as a character :3 I find him and akane’s (boy) interactions very interesting tbh

Woah an ask! And as of the recent chapter(s) I think they help confirm a few things I had already thought, but I’d love to go in depth!

Overall, Teru is probably my favorite. He’s different from the rest of the cast in the sense that he’s not a “hero” nor a “villain”. To me he, Akane, and Aoi all sit right in the gray moral area rather than characters like Kou, Nene, and the members of the broadcasting club, who play the direct roles of protag and antag. But he’s always held my attention over any of the other characters because everything around him is just as morally gray, from childhood to now his values never changed as his view on the world is just as strict, though with a few exceptions (which are pretty important).

His interactions with other characters show his views in the most obvious way. He acts charming and aloof around Nene, but he’s never really paying direct attention to her (ex: the mokke of the dead arc and the current trial arc).

When with Kou his actual softer side is shown a little bit more, acting as normal as he possibly can be; save for the times when Kou goes against Teru’s moral code (Young exorcist, Bound for the far-shore) and he goes on the defensive, when Kou’s view on supernaturals rival his he immediately goes from being on his side to disregarding him and acting on his own judgment full throttle. Which shows how he ignores their differences instead of actually addressing them, since he wants Kou to not only NOT be an exorcist but also to not get in his way. And to him pretending Kou isn’t doing exactly what he doesn’t want him to do, keeps the positive dynamic alive and well in his mind.

Now, Akane specifically is where it gets a bit confusing. I’ll take it chapter by chapter (or arc by arc whatever)

Clock-Keeper (technically the chapter after but I’m not super technical about this and it’s close enough)

Where it gets silly! Their dynamic of not only Spirit v Human but also President and Vice-President is established. Teru’s bias towards Akane compared to other supernaturals is from the beginning pretty obvious (he didn’t kill him so that’s a good start) while he isn’t exactly nice to him, he does value Akane in some way or another. It also shows that Teru knows a lot more than he lets on, and that he doesn’t tell people what he does either (which foreshadows some stuff later) also the glasses stuff is kinda tease-y flirty if you ignore the getting attacked by mokke part. What can I say he’s just so charming!!!

(Finals)

Where the care is more obvious. Showing off the more playful side of their dynamic, along with Akane’s view on Teru, which as of now isn’t very positive. At the end, Teru asks Akane for a favor, showing again that he’s psychic or something. But his cruelty here can mostly be seen as him making sure he gets Akane’s help, so the immoral part of it is debatable, he just seems to go about things the wrong way most of the time. could also be seen as him giving an insensitive to Akane to help up his grades for the final, since his grades for the previous semester are comparatively not as good.

Severance

Oh great heavens. Teru’s continued disregard of other peoples values comes to a head here, where this time he’s shown how the person feels when not told important information. But I understand why he did it. If he had told Akane that Aoi wouldn’t have returned to the near-shore, he wouldn’t have returned either, and there’s no way Teru could’ve dragged him out. But would that have been an issue? If Akane was left in the boundary? He could’ve died, he was kindof already doing that anyway, but was that the reason? Or did Teru do it out of selfishness? Did he want Akane to stay? Maybe he wanted to kick some sense into him, maybe he just didn’t want him to leave? Could be a lot of things, Teru isn’t dumb, and typically he’s pretty rational, but he never said why so everything is always up for interpretation.

Day-Off

To regain lost trust. Hanging out, it isn’t obvious why exactly Teru wanted Nene and Akane to tag along, maybe he and his apparent prophetic mind decided it would be the best course of action to do so, or maybe he just wanted a girls day or something. Akane seems to have gotten over his anger at Teru (possibly due to off-screen conversations cause that’s convenient) but when Teru tells him that Aoi isn’t dead, a little bit of trust in Teru’s judgment is recovered. Maybe he had the whole thing planned out from the beginning who knows he seems to suck at being overt. Akane interrogates Teru about the severance and gets all up in his face. And then the “I like Akane-San” happens and stuff gets confusing again.

Red house

I’m starting to think he doesn’t actually like Aoi. Teru learns to complain for basically the first time! At least in front of Akane. It’s obvious Teru’s trust towards Akane didn’t falter the way it did for Akane, in fact in some way Teru put more of himself out for Akane because of the severance. He brings up the dreaded Akane & Aoi chapter, and remarks about it in a really…strange way. Not upset but more bitter, really. But it also seems that Akane’s view on Teru has improved as well, having Teru go from a nightmarish demon stealing Aoi away from him, to a seemingly doting husband to her, what does this mean? Something gay probably. But nonetheless it seems that Teru wants Aoi back as well, but for what reason specifically? Other than just the general “unjust death caused by some undead demi-god 10 year old”, he wants Aoi back for some “dream”. Or is he just bluffing to tease Akane? I don’t know, dissecting a characters motives is hard when he isn’t nearly fleshed out enough to infer things with any kind of confidence. But overall they end on better terms than the severance started with.

Bound for the far-shore

Back to normal-ish. Teru’s fight with Kou is the main catch of these chapters for him, but his back-and-forth with Akane is fun too. It’s playful, it’s sweet, and it’s also nice to see them show trust towards one another!

School festival / Omen

A subversion of the viewer’s beliefs that Teru would go back to tormenting Akane but in actuality he protects him from a threat and makes a weirdly flirty face at him?? I love literature! Anyway I love their interactions here, it’s fun yet simple! I really hope nothing bad happens right after!

Trial of the Clock-Keepers

Ok gonna be honest this chapter is interesting but dear god is the pacing so slow I’m kindof losing interest. But nonetheless! Divorce. It’s a pretty obvious parallel to the severance; in the sense that Akane blindsights Teru, Teru tries to fuck his shit up, and is then forcibly stopped and dragged somewhere else. And though it’s played off as comical, it’s not silly to assume that this is, just like the severance, another reset of trust. I mean Teru does dick while Akane gets his shit rocked (not like he can actually do anything to be fair). but even so he still shows the smallest bit of concern, concern about why they aren’t actually fighting back in any significant way, even though they’re all well capable of doing so. But since the arc is still ongoing, that’s about where by opinions end.

Overall, I love Teru! And I love his dynamic with Akane! Sorry this is like, really long I’ve been waiting for an excuse to talk about this, so thanks for the ask!!1!1!…,ninja out

You were at the Minamotos house , it was late , so Kou and Tiara were already in bed ; you two on the couch , cuddling , Teru on top of you , head on your chest " [ name ] , why is that when i ask you about your parents , you always change subject , don't you trust me ? " you knew that Teru would ask that , sooner or later , though you were embarrassed to tell him the reason " its not that i don't trust you .. i don't really trust my father you know .. " " is he a bad person ? " he asked raising his head to look at you " no no , he's not ! He's just a little .. overprotective ... ? But if you really want to meet them , then i can't stop you " your boyfriend smiled and laid his head on you again " then the next week we'll pay a visit ! "

The week arrived and , not gonna lie , you were scared about what your dad could say to Teru ; he had never been really friendly to all the male people you brought at home , friends or boyfriends it didn't mattered. The lunch went really well overall , expect for your father remarks , though Teru was really good at not dropping his smile in front of him. Instead you were really exhausted of your father behaviour ; you know he loves you and he wants to protect you , but your not a child anymore !! That's why you suddenly had enough and complained to him " I don't care if you can keep your smile in front of me for this long , you will never be enough for my child , and this is my final answer. " you got up , frustrated " why do you always have to do this with everyone !? Why can't i choose the boy i want to be with , im not a kid anymore and you have to learn it dad , i don't care anymore about what you think , just stop insulting my boyfriend to scare him away !! " everyone was shocked , especially your dad ; you felt you were starting to cry , so you went to your room and closed the door " look at what have you done [ father name ] ! " your mother said while following you ; there was this embarrassing silence between Teru and your father , Teru tried to talk but your father did first " I guess they are right , they are not a kid anymore. When you and your mother returned , your father apologized and told everything he told Teru before ; you were really happy to know that Teru could be finally a part of your family , with both the consent of your mother and father.

You stayed over at Kou’s house for the holidays because you don’t really have family to spend it with

The Minamoto family had always been welcoming to you since childhood so you were family to them

Anyways

You had slept in Kou’s room like always

Since the two of you were young you’d share the bed every year since as little kids there’s nothing special about two friends sharing a bed and things haven’t changed in present day

After playing some video games and making cookies with Tiara to leave out for Santa, you and Kou were ready to sleep

The both of you laid down next to one another and eventually dozed off

The next morning you woke up a little too early- even earlier than Tiara who wakes up at 7 AM each morning for opening gifts

You looked around the room as you began to fully waking up

You looked back down to your right to see your best friend snuggled up to your side

His left cheek was squished against your chest and his right hand was clutching your shirt lightly

You smiled at his soft snores and cute peaceful expression

Yeah yeah so what if you found your best friend cute? Adorable even?

You searched around your cheeks but couldn’t stop his laughter and he kept saying “no no you’re missing it!”

“Here let me just.” He sighed out his laughter as he reached for your face

Time seemed to slow as his hand made its way to you

And then it all seemed to stop as he picked a piece of dried cookie frosting off your face

Your heart felt like it stopped much like your breathing

Then everything seemed to speed up once again when he retracted his hand

You were still frozen, staring at him widely

“Hm? What’s with that look?” He chuckled

Before you could answer, Tiara busted into the room with Teru, grabbing the two of you to urge you both downstairs

And absolutely! I'll take any excuses to talk about Kou!

I adore Kou because he is kind, but it’s a very interesting and genuine take on kindness. He isn’t an angel that does no wrong and forgives it all, he is just a 14 years old boy.

He always tries his best to help, and he usually has good intentions but he fails more than anyone. He is naive and reckless: He unconsciously sabotages himself a lot, which ironically hurt people more than helps.

His selflessness is inherently selfish, and he always accepts more than he can take: He promised to always stay on Yashiro’s side. He promised Teru to keep an eye on Hanako and make sure he doesn’t get out of line.

These promises contradict each other, he cannot fulfill the two, so even though his intentions clearly aren’t to hurt anyone he will have to hurt someone. But he is impulsive and he doesn’t seem to fully realize that, so he keeps making even more promises as he goes, promising to increase Yashiro’s lifespan, promise to help Mitsuba...

He betrayed Teru by taking Nene’s side and protecting Hanako despite their deal from the young exorcist arc, he hurt Teru badly, just like he would have hurt Nene, his entire family, and Mitsuba as well, if he truly had become a supernatural.

His goal to make everyone happy is impossible. Is childish.

He wants to be the one to help, but he also wants help. He genuinely does want help, he can recognize he needs guidance and he is desperate for answers, but he doesn’t have available parents, Teru is too biased and busy, No. 5 won’t help, Hanako has been questionable (or ‘a bad friend’ in Kou’s words), and so on. He is shit at asking for help and he also doesn't want Nene and Mitsuba to worry and add to their problems. He refuses to give up tho, so he gets lost inside his own head, he bottle ups deciding to solve it all by himself but clinging to any answer he gets, no matter how suspicious the source (Yes, I am talking about Natsuhiko here).

Kou under values himself a lot. Ironically is what makes him miss the mark and not do what his friends want despite being so good at reading other emotions/ needs (jumping off the rooftop for Mitsuba despite Mitsuba definitively not wanting his friend to die for example-)

It makes sense too, in a twisted way. He was trained to take care of everything by himself: He cleans, cook, babysit, does the laundry, all by himself. He is both 'not good enough' but also 'the last line', so if no one more competent is there to help, he must suck it up and do it himself.

His family is an anomaly that can see supernaturals, so of course he want to find a reason as to 'why' he has this supernatural senses, of course he thinks he is special. In many ways, he really is special!! Even if believing he can 'change the course of how the world work' is pure arrogance. But he is 14 years old, that's self-explanatory.

Despite these flaws, he is a genuinely sweet person that believe in the good of people and overall want to trust those around him. His love goes far deeper than just a trained instinct to take care of others. He had been put on that caretaker role in the first place cause it ‘fit him’, as fucked up as it was, considering he was a eight year old kid the Minamoto family makes me want to cry.

I love the big scenes of him protecting/ cheering up/ loving his friends but I also treasure the small moments of him helping that are short and 'insignificant' but are still constantly there.

I also adore how goofy and silly he is! Just look at him, he really used 'labor pains' as an excuse, I love him so much

And Kou may be naive but he is observant as hell. He knew just what to tell Yashiro to cheer her up in the Donuts chapter. He understood Mitsuba's real wish even when he was still having trouble distinguishing the two Mitsubas. He is the first to notice the supernatural tendency of giving up and settling for a ‘compromise’.

And while he is one of the most open characters he is also constantly changing. In a natural and coherent way.

He is an exorcist that deeply loves his family surrounded by supernatural friends, he has no idea what to do but he will still cling to what he feels is right. Even when he doesn't know what is right, even when it's clearly the hardest path.

He wants to be right about supernaturals being good. He want them to be evil, so he can still be proud of the Minamoto Clan, not feel odd in his own family. He wants Teru to see his ways. He wants Teru to keep being always right. He wants his school friends to be part of his life, he wants them far away from it all. He have so many wants but he tries to ignore them, only focusing on himself when is to focus on his flaws and mistakes, to try to learn from them.

And he is understanding enough to accept these are his wishes, but they aren’t reality. And Kou is constantly shown to hate all that’s fake.

He is a beautiful box of contradiction: He is extremely arrogant yet he lacks confidence. He is a resigned optimist. He is emotionally smart yet dumb when it comes to almost everything else. Extremely strong, fast, and capable compared to normal kids, but with an inferiority complex. He is self-aware yet dense as hell. He is moved by guilt just as much as he is moved by love. He has a savior complex but his ideals aren't unshakable, far from it.

ALSO VERY IMPORTANT: He is shaped like a friend! His smile is free joy to me!

i’m gonna start this off with saying that kou minamoto is literally my favorite character ever so don’t think i’m doing this because i hate him i just think about him way too much and this is where i end up after thinking for too long

i have SO MUCH to say about this but i’m gonna throw it under the cut bc i don’t wanna catch ppl off guard with my insane bullshit

alright SO

first off kou definitely should’ve died during the pp arc just for shits and giggles. it would’ve been like a “what the fuck just happened” for every character and the whole fandom and the chaos that would’ve ensued from the death of a major character would’ve been absolutely WILD- like bitch just killed himself. he straight up committed suicide. there’s no way of rephrasing that bc that’s what he did. it would’ve been a plot-shattering moment and really just heartbreaking and awful and aidairo could’ve done so much with it.

for one, mitsuba would’ve been very Not Ok because he would’ve blamed himself for kou dying and he’d definitely try to gaslight himself into believing kou was still alive- that would not work btw he’d just be in insane denial

anyway imma move on from that arc even though i could go into it so much deeper and focus on things that i could see happening just to make the story hella interesting (i’ve been very tempted to write a fic about this so beware)

i think the most likely ways kou would die would either be suicide or being killed by tsukasa. we’ve already seen him attempt to kill himself, thwarted by mitsuba then brushed aside for some reason, and i’m about to do a full ass analysis on why tsukasa should murder our boy :3

reiterating that I LOVE KOU MINAMOTO WITH MY WHOLE HEART HES PERFECT

okay so tsukasa. hes a silly guy. one of his main traits is he loves to fuck with people, right? right yeah whatever get to the point IM WORKING ON IT ok sorry anyway he’s silly right. he thrives off fucking people up as much as possible. since he knows fucking everything i’m gonna assume he knows how important kou is to mitsuba and, given the fact that it’s so easy to fuck with mitsuba, he’d know that messing with kou in some way would make the biggest impact. every way he messes up mitsuba’s (after)life doesn’t emotionally impact him for too long, given the fact that he and kou with it out every time. but what happens when we take out the support system? that’s what we wanna know.

so ofc tsukasa feels all silly goofy and takes out kou just for funzies. mitsuba is absolutely fucking destroyed in every way. he blames himself, duh. this splits off into 2 possible scenarios that i’ve created lol.

possibility one: mitsuba stays in his boundary for god knows how long, refusing to talk to anyone. eventually he goes to shijima, begging for a replacement kou. even if hes fake, it’s better than nothing, right? shijima understood his grief, in a way. so, she gave in. boom. kou copy. the rest was none of her business.

kou copy only knows what shijima knows about him, so let’s go with everything up until the end of the picture perfect arc. he has no idea about anything after, including the aquarium date, the far shore incident, and the supernaturals being banished from the near shore in the first place, and it’s fine that way. …right? well, that means he also doesn’t know that he’s supposed to be dead.

he keeps asking mitsuba when he can leave the boundary and go home, when he can go see senpai, when he can see his brother, and he’s very upset. mitsuba has no idea what to do. he was overjoyed to have his crush best friend back that he didn’t even think of what would happen after… he couldn’t let kou out of the boundary. that was out of the question. keeping kou here would make him miserable and make him hate mitsuba. so at this point they’re stuck in a cycle of shouting matches of wether or not kou is allowed to leave, periods of silence, and occasional truces because they both need someone to keep them sane, and who else can do it but each other?

possibly 2: supernaturals are a thing in this world, so why can’t kou be one too? even though tsukasa is the one who killed kou in the first place, mitsuba begs him to bring kou back, to make kou a supernatural just like mitsuba. mitsuba knows what being a supernatural feels like. he knows that just letting kou go would be so much better for the dumb blonde boy. he knows that kou deserves better than to be forced to live in a world that doesn’t want him anymore. but mitsuba is selfish. so tsukasa makes kou into a supernatural. for funzies, you know? he’d never worked with a human corpse before, so why not try out making one into a supernatural?

the process of making a supernatural is… messy. mitsuba now knows this, as he couldn’t look away from his boyfriend being made into one. it was horrific. i’m not gonna delve into it because i really don’t wanna think about that i’m so sorry my poor baby

just like with mitsuba, tsukasa didn’t have kou’s actual soul to work with, just supernatural parts and kou’s body. it was simply an animated puppet that looked like kou minamoto. “it’s fine,” mitsuba said, “it’s okay, he’s back, that what matters, right?” “it’ll be fine, right minamoto?” and as he looks to kou for support, all he gets in response is a blank look. he realizes, after staring in horror at the jagged scar on kou’s neck, that his vocal chords are absolutely fucked up beyond repair. he’d never hear kou’s voice again.

-You're Sakura's best friend, so you've known Tsukasa since the day she made him a wish

-And the first few moments meeting Tsukasa, I'm sorry but he's kind of dense and thought you were ignoring him

-Which made him very confused and a bit little angry at the same time..

-He tried to steal the cane you used to get his attention, which worked!

"Why do you keep ignoring me?!" He said with an irritated pout on his face, trying to pull the cane you were holding with all your strength so it wouldn't be taken from you.

"What on earth are you talking about?! I never ignored you!" You countered with the same tone of voice, getting irritated by the ghost's childish attitudes.

“Why don’t you look at me!?”

“I’M BLIND!”

-Oooh! Then he realized!

-You hardly ever looked in his direction because you were blind! Haha, good thing you weren't ignoring him, otherwise you'd have a little trouble

-But anyways, he let you go and apologized (sort of..) for trying to steal your cane, and you also apologized for not warning him (you thought it was obvious and thought he was stupid)

-Since you got into a romantic relationship, things have gotten more interesting and more fun

-He asked you several questions, most of them stupid but you got it

-Hugs and surprise kisses! He loves their surprised expressions when he does this~ He can’t help himself, he just loves holding you. He's also kind of messy when he wants to kiss…

-He acts like a kitten, he always clings to you and when he leaves you on your lap, you know he wants pampering and affection. The only thing left for him to do is purr

-He became very protective of you! Now you got a personal bodyguard

-He helps you pick things up, he guides you to fun places for you to hang out and of course, he defends you from evil supernaturals trying to mess with you

-None of them made it out alive after meeting Tsukasa :)

-Also, Sakura makes sure to keep an eye on him…

-But when he got there he saw Nene talking excitedly to you, and man he without realizing it stopped on his way to look at you better, to admire you (Not in the scary way tho)

-You were just…so angelic, and you wore such pretty and cute smile on your face that it made him blush a little bit

“Ah, Kou-Kun! Meet my friend S/o!” Nene took you closer to Kou with a smile on her face, putting you firmly in your spot so you know her friend is right in front of you.

“Oh, r-right!” He nervously snaps back to reality, a little embarrassed that you're so close but soon regaining his composure. "My name is Kou Minamoto, it's a pleasure to meet you!" He says energetically and proudly, holding out his hand in front of you for you to shake. Nene soon tensed up and nudged you in the shoulder, making you reach out as well.

"It's nice to meet you too, I'm S/o! I'm sure you must be a lovely boy.” You tilted your head to the side and smiled softly, your praise causing Kou to burn red. "T-Thank you! But not that much h-heh..!" He looked away and scratched the back of his neck, squeling with joy inside. He really sounded like a friendly and optimistic person, making you feel more comfortable.

-But soon he was confused as to why you kept looking at the same place and why you held a cane

-I’m sorry but Kou it's also a bit slow, so you explained to him that you were blind, which soon made him apologize for not having noticed right away (Plz tell him it’s okay he felt so stupid)

-You and Kou have become very close to each other. Like, too close, which made your friends suspect something was up…

-Kou treats you like a princess, he can't help but need to protect you at all costs

-You’re all badass and wholesome but he still barks at everyone who messes with you. You think is cute and amazing

-He always helps you get things out of your reach and go to places you forget where you are

-Kou is also kind and goes above and beyond affection when showing love. His favorite thing is keeping you close and putting you against his chest when he kisses you

-He always protects you from supernaturals! So don't worry, Kou will take care of them in no time (He shoos Hanako away when he starts teasing you two)

-Kou is also a great cook, and when he cooks for you, you feel like you're in heaven <3

-Teru totally approves of your relationship, he feels like you and Kou are made for each other (He also teases Kou about it, but only a little haha)

-Anyways, Kou it’s the damn best

“Get behind me S/o, that evil spirit doesn't stand a chance!”

-This dude took a bit to understand that you're blind

-You went to the bathroom to make a wish after you heard rumors about "Hanako-San". It won’t hurt to give it a try right?

-So with great fear you went there to make your wish for the ghost

-And guess what? You accidentally ended up hitting the wrong bathroom stall. And Hanako was just watching you make his rumor wrong

-He couldn't control himself and chuckled a little, as you turned around scared for dear life

“W-Who’s there?! Don’t you dare get close to m-me!” You raised your cane up trying to hit the being that laughed in your face, which made Hanako perk up amused.

"Hahahah! Calm down, I won't do anything~" Hanako smiled smugly and came a little closer to you. "Ooo why do you have this?"

He reached out and pulled your cane from you. But he ended up pulling with a little force and making you fall to the ground, he was going to tease you but as soon as he saw that you had tears forming in your eyes he was filled with guilt.

-He gave you back your cane and apologized, and asked why you use it. So when you explained that you had her because you were blind, he felt like a piece of trash for having treated you that way

-You got another scare when he said he was Hanako-San from the bathroom and got defensive again (It took him half an hour to convince you that he really was Hanako-San and not some pervert)

-You made your wish for him in exchange for being his assistant, now the two of you have created a special bond! Yay!

-A VERY special bond…so special that you created a loving relationship

-He's a sweetheart boyfriend, who doesn't stop teasing you and pulling your buttons to see you flushed in his hands

-Hanako helps you clean the bathroom sometimes and takes you to boundaries with him, but relax as he is protecting you at all times

-When he goes to meetings with the mysteries, he orders the mokkes to keep you company

-Then he steals their candy to give it to you because you deserve it 💕

-He's always hugging you and likes to give you naughty kisses all over your face, but he also likes to pull you into one of the bathroom stalls to kiss and hold you properly. He's also a bit messy but kind

-Hanako loves you very much and doesn't like the moments when he has to be away from you

So, about these three, I've been thinking about some possibilities, because I like to analyze the character's role in the plot, why is he there? What is his objective? What difference does it make if he exists in the plot or not?

I've been thinking about Mitsuba, he appeared in the story with a very simple objective, but what was his role in the main story? What will affect if it disappears or not? Given how important he is by appearing many times, returning to the story again after Mitsuba 1.0 was destroyed, the appearance of his mother, and how he is well connected to Tsukasa and Kou, two important characters, I assumed that he is the key to something we don't yet know.

We should also mention that Mitsuba is gaining development, Tsukasa is helping him get stronger, but why? Since Mitsuba has a connection with Kou, I thought of some possibilities.

Maybe Tsukasa is using Mitsuba to manipulate Kou in some way. Kou is from the Minamoto family, the family of exorcists, he is one of the members who are apparently more tolerant of supernaturals. See, Kou started out in the story wanting to exorcise Hanako, but in the end he ended up becoming his friend, from then on Kou started to rethink whether supernaturals are bad or not. He argued with Teru about it, and later he advises Nene not to give up on Hanako (when she found out a little about his past)

Then he meets Mitsuba, who coincidentally was near his locker when he first appeared. The rest you already know. What it implied was that Tsukasa was angry because Mitsuba wasn't doing what he wanted, so he wanted to mold him. We see that Tsukasa takes Mitsuba's essence, it seemed like he knew that Mitsuba was going to "die".

So he created another one, not for nothing. There is some reason, Natsuhiko was also trying to manipulate Kou, he actually succeeded. Now Kou knows how to become a supernatural and is thinking about it seriously. Maybe Tsukasa wants Kou to stay away from the Minamoto family and help the supernaturals.

What if Kou is responsible for unsealing Hanako? Wasn't it his grandmother who sealed him in the first place?

Basically that's it, Tsukasa seems to be trying to convince Kou that supernaturals are good, and his coexistence with Hanako and Mitsuba can guarantee that. Natsuhiko didn't let Mitsuba be close to Teru, but they allow him to be close to Kou, Sakura even suggests that Mitsuba should befriend him.

This is no coincidence.

If Kou thinks the supernaturals are good, he will hardly want to exorcise them (as he was unable to do with Mitsuba) besides, it can be used to remove Hanako's seal and probably for some other purpose. We didn't see what Kou talked about with Natsuhiko when the separation happened, but he seems to be being influenced a lot.

In short, I think this is an interesting possibility.

About the dynamics between them hahahaha Tsukasa and Mitsuba look like brothers who fight all the time. Tsukasa is the troublemaker younger brother who sometimes hits his brother and is hot-headed, but soon they are having fun together. Other than that, Tsukasa usually takes care of Mitsuba, especially after the separation. Tsukasa has his way of taking care of things.

Kou's relationship with Tsukasa is still lukewarm, the sealed Tsukasa has all the anger and resentment that Kou can offer because of what he did to Mitsuba, and the resentment is so much that he became very suspicious of the baby Tsukasa, he was harsh with him, even I felt sorry for how he was treating the baby, he relaxed a little after he found out what little Tsukasa did in the past.

As for Mitsuba and Kou hahaha the controversial relationship. The mixture of love and tantrums. It's a relationship that develops extremely slowly, very slowly. These two are almost always fighting over something stupid, Mitsuba is very tantrum and really likes to provoke and irritate, hahaha Kou follows his rhythm.

I think it will take even longer for these two to turn this friendship relationship into a romantic relationship, if that is the case, there are a few factors I can mention. But as this answer is longer than I expected hahaha I'll leave it open, if you want me to go deeper into Kou and Mitsuba's relationship, just ask me :3

Akane Aoi & Aoi Akane Obsession Theory

Welcome to my first post on this blog pooks <3

(I will be referring to the boy as Akane and the girl as Aoi bcuz that’s what I personally do, others use their last name but I don’t.)

so, let’s just jump right into it.

let’s go over the foundation of this theory first.

so what we know:

Akane is undoubtedly obsessed with Aoi. He has been ever since he was a little boy. According to Aoi, it all started when they moved next to each other and became neighbors, which caused them to become best friends. Even from childhood, Akane has had a strong obsession with Aoi that’s unhealthy.

And I wanna think about and take a look at a few things that really make you think, is there really more going on than just a simple boy having a bit too hard of a crush?

so here, we see the clock keepers plan. When they were looking for a 3rd clock keeper to take place with a 6-year contract, they decided to take advantage of Akane by manipulating him into thinking he could get her to date him.

and it’s a solid plot line. It makes some sense, but the problem I have with it is one thing. Why did they choose Akane? Because he had a crush on Aoi? I mean it was clear he had a crush on Aoi, but I’m sure many children had crushes in the school and acted a bit crazy about it sometimes just like Akane has. Why would they risk the powers of a clock keeper to be in the hands of a little kid who is obsessed with some girl?

that is— unless they did it for a reason.

maybe they weren’t watching Akane the whole time. They told him “we’ve been watching you”.

maybe they were watching somebody else tho. Maybe they were watching Aoi.

We also all should know that Aoi has the blood of the Kannagi in her, due to being a decendent of the Akane family. Which makes Aoi… like a SUPER important character after knowing that information.

If Aoi is killed in honor of the “gods”, then supernaturals will be eradicated. The entire world won’t have a problem. The Minamoto family will have a normal life, and so many people will be happy at the expense of this girl’s life.

Every Kannagi needs a protector up until they are sacrificed. If they die before then, the sacrifice won’t work and the gods will kill the villagers of the land. Shinigami wasn’t born to serve her, but in the end did it anyways because he was ordered to. He ended being her protector, even if he was a supernatural himself.

We never learn or have learned much about the Oni, which was the type of demon Shikigami was. We just know that he was one himself and his entire family was slain by one of the Minamoto’s ancestors.

But, if some people are born to excorcise, some people are born to be sacrificed,

then couldnt that also mean that people could be born to protect?

it’s a far reach, but what I’m saying is that I think Akane’s obsession with Aoi links to his family’s ancestors being protectors of the Kannagi.

So, in a way, it just means that they are star-crossed lovers. Romeo and Juliet style.

but it doesn’t stop there.

The Minamoto family never gets a break. And we never really get to see Teru’s true intentions or motifs, only that he’s truly and canonically against supernaturals to the highest point possible.

When I reread the severance chapters, I realized something. Teru said “This is the first time I’ve gotten a day off.” And he genuinely got to have fun. He got a break.

Probably, for the first time in his life, Teru got to act like an actual kid.

and Teru loves his work. He loves being an excorcist, but I think we all know one thing he loves even more than being an excorcist. His family.

“I’d become a zombie too”

clearly, this is referring to supernaturals. If Kou became a supernatural, Teru probably would too. He wouldn’t live another day allowing his brother to stay stuck on the school grounds forever while he’s still alive because he loves him so much that he would die for him in a second.

I personally have a theory that Teru is planning something with the Akane family, or has a plot of his own. Where he wants to sacrifice somebody in the bloodline, or some Kannagi to the supernatural, or “gods” so that they are fed and not disturbed for a long while. Only so his family and him can live a normal life not full of danger and demons.

it’s not a solid theory, where I can say “this is exactly what’s happening”, but I am just suspecting that Teru is up to something nobody is going to be expecting, all at the cost for his family.
