Electric Vehicles Enter the 'Total Failure' Phase of Their Existence
Tumblr media
Is it time to start asking whether electric vehicles have any redeeming value in 2024? Given the recent spate of bad news surrounding them, the answer to that question is becoming clearer.
As RedState reported, Ford has cut the production of its "Lightning" electric pickup truck in half. Why? Mainly because no one wants to buy them. Why do they not want to buy them? Because they are overpriced, unreliable, and impractical.
READ: Ford Slashes Electric Truck Production Because Nobody Wants Them
Who could have guessed that paying $55,000 (and that's with EV subsidies) for a stripped-down, base-level truck that overheats when you tow things and can't drive over 300 miles on a single charge wouldn't appeal to the average F-150 buyer? Certainly, people who use their trucks for work have found little to no use for such a pointless monstrosity.
It's not just the Lightning, though. The entire EV industry is getting hit by reality right now.
There is no better example of government idiocy than the top-down push for electric vehicles, which at this point has cost American taxpayers tens of billions of dollars. They were a solution to a problem that didn't exist, and even then, they turned out to not be a solution at all. It's not just about cost either. How useful is a car that loses most of its range when it gets below freezing? How useful is a car that can't be driven for more than a few hours in a row, even in perfect conditions?
READ: 'We Got a Bunch of Dead Robots Out Here'—Tesla Charging Stations Freeze in Chicago
Ford and GM aren't cutting EV production because they want to. They are doing so because the market is forcing them to. People want reliable vehicles that meet their needs. They don't want to pay a five-figure repair bill for a new battery or because an electric motor failed. Gas-powered cars are not only far more capable, they are cheaper when it comes to acquisition, maintenance, and operating costs. The nexus of spending money on fuel vs. electricity is so far apart that you'll be buying the aforementioned new battery long before you approach any actual savings.
So again, it's worth asking whether EVs have any redeeming qualities in their current iteration. They aren't renewable, and rely on toxic chemicals mined by literal child slaves in Africa that eventually require replacement. They are less capable than your average gas-powered vehicle. They typically cost more new but don't hold their value because the batteries are so expensive to replace, meaning buyers get hit coming and going. The list goes on.
Aren't they saving the planet, though? I'd suggest not given they still rely on power largely created by fossil fuels anyway. So, what's the point? All EVs are doing is empowering China, which produces 70 percent of the world's EVs and controls most of the mining of the materials needed to build them. How many billions of dollars are American companies going to continue to throw away pursuing this government-pushed pipedream? The answer is likely quite a few billion more. Eventually, the market always wins, though.

That's where K-Beauty's brand-new series "Gee" happens in. This brand-new series adheres to four younger women who steer and steer alone in their properties.
Tumblr media
That could be a document expansion for the field -- and a record possibility for you to either locate the ideal EV or obtain entirely overwhelmed. Either technique, if it works for you, provide it a try. So permit's get started. You might have noticed the best 12 electricity cars in the US created less than 20,000 miles in 2014. This is because EVs are practically being changed through what makes the cars and truck even more reliable -- a considerably smarter power auto through itself. Under are the 18 plug-in autos that I'm very most appearing onward to in 2023, because they're probably to produce a mark on the electricity vehicle landscape. 1. Nissan LEAF SE Coming from the manufacturer: This is the Nissan LEAF SE, a deluxe sedan SUV, with a mid-sized drivetrain, a new roof-mounted steering wheel and an enclosed automobile that has been improved for 20 years to provide a much-needed grip in the desert. This list consists of pure electrics and combinations, but does not get into the pots on variation, as that's ending up being much less different between natural electric cars and trucks at approximately 225-300 miles, plenty of for the normal chauffeur to bill once every few times the majority of of the time. But for the function of discovering the specifics, the electric variety that a automobile can easily sensibly traveling are going to vary coming from an ordinary travel to a married couple splendid, relying on the specific scenario. And be careful with the outdated belief that you can easily cut any type of costs I mention along with a tax benefit, as the byzantine brand new government income tax credit rating approach require some time to improve the market. In exchange for their desire to offer that much to firms like eBay and Microsoft, the federal government authorities will assist them offer their customers along with additional high-price bunches in swap for lowering their tax obligation bill – which can leave behind some business unspent. Let's start with GM, because it will definitely perhaps steal the most brand-new EV spotlight in 2023. What's important listed below is that GM wishes its very most effective new EV to be a effective new car. And if a powerful brand new EV may trump a feeble, mid to low-end low-price (around $1k-12k) EV at that point GM desires that EV to be an astonishingly rapid, great vehicle. Cadillac Lyriq The Cadillac Lyriq sort of slips onto my checklist since it gently attacked the market in overdue 2022, but will truly make its visibility recognized in 2023. Right now in its third month, it's got a quite solid observing by being a excellent way to have a great time. It's a pleasant, cost-effective, electric, and highly effective auto for the everyday consumer. This is perhaps the most fascinating component of the entire review. This midsize SUV are going to be GM's 1st vehicle based on the new Ultium electric battery platform, which makes use of appealing bag cells in a mobile skateboard setup instead than the traditional round tissues that dominate the EV field. The Latest Info Found Here -new system promises brand-new cost points that may effortlessly be set up for charging a variation of 745 miles (1,734 km). The new electric battery is a "very highly effective electric battery" created feasible by a battery-cooled lithium-ion electric battery pack. GM claims that and various other details will certainly enable Ultium to size up and down its collections. Ultium is the world's greatest on the internet video game publisher and has succeeded a variety of significant awards, consisting of Best Electronic Entertainment and the Spiel des Jahrbuch and has obtained honors at GDC, E3 and final year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. Ultium will discharge this happening June.

What Is The Cheapest Price Of A Rolex Watch?
Unauthorized dealers charge an additional charge to the Rolex price. Rolex price. The most affordable prices are available at authorized retailers. If sold by an Rolex Authorized Dealer (AD) the most affordable Rolex in 2022 is one of Rolex Oyster Perpetual 28, millimeter model that retails at USD $5,300 new. Sunrays are adorning the dial and the bracelet is made of oyster. OysterSteel Stainless Steel grade 904L is used to make the band and case. With an accuracy of +2/- 2 seconds per day, the movement is an excellent chronometer calibre 2232. All constructed Rolex watches undergo certification tests after casing the movement for superior precision and self-winding. They also have a power reserve along with depth rating. It is authenticated with a green hologram Every Rolex Perpetual 28 is guaranteed for five years by an internationally-based watchmaker. Dials can be purchased in black, pink blue, silver and black. As much as 100 meters or 300 feet of waterproof depth is a guarantee with this Rolex watch. Rolex Oyster Perpetual 28 watches are water-resistant and are suitable for wear while swimming, but not while diving. There are no Roles with lower prices available. You can find more information about average Rolex price in this article.
If you're looking to purchase a Rolex then visit the company's website and look for the Rolex dealer in your area. In case you want more information about how much is a Rolex Daytona new, take a look at this article.
Rolex watch buyers might be unable to not talk about the long waitlists that plague the most well-known and recognisable timepieces. There is always a waitlist for the most famous timepieces of Rolex, including all of its stainless steel sports watches and many dealers cannot promise that they will get a watch before the model's end date. Despite the fact that the watch is in existence for quite a while, the waitlist for some of the brand's finest models, such as the stainless steel and ceramic Daytona, is still over five years in some retail stores. Read this article for more information about Rolex repair cost.
Rolex is the most renowned luxury watch manufacturer which is why their demand over their inventory. As a result, many of the most popular models are sold out at retailers. Despite being still in production and accessible at retail outlets, you cannot buy an entirely new model without spending a considerable amount of time waiting on a list. In case you want more information about how long does Rolex service take, take a look at this article.
Have Rolex Increased Their Prices?
The retail price for most Rolex watches was raised by Rolex in January 2022. Rolex authorized dealers across the globe have raised prices due to the new prices. The price increase was not uniform across the watch collections of Rolex. Stainless steel watches made by Rolex called Oystersteel were the most affected by this price change. The average rise of 2.6 percent in the price of the gold Rolex watches, while it rose by 8.6% for stainless steel watches. Rolex watches have seen prices rise by more than 10 percent. Rolex Batman for example, raised its price by $1,050, which is 11.1%. At this point, it is impossible to know the date Rolex SA will raise its prices again. You can read more about Rolex Datejust waterproof in our linked article.
In terms of Rolex watches, there is no option to negotiate the cost. ADs at Rolex are not able to offer discount prices for the public on Rolex watches. The organization of sales events and promotions are not allowed by the brand. If you want to bargain a Rolex watch price 'privately' through an AD, you must have a solid relationship and an great track record of purchases. How much is Rolex dealer's margin for the Rolex watch? Some rumours suggest that Rolex stores sell Rolex watches at a 40% profit margin. The margins are greater in a distribution network that has a greater reach. The fact that a Rolex is more than a mere watch is one of the main factors behind its cost. Other watches could have a similar style as the Rolex however, none has the status Rolex does. Rolex is highly sought after across the globe because it's easy to recognize as a symbol of wealth and success.
Because Rolex watches are in short supply, there is barely any possibility of getting for a cheaper price. The demand for watches is so huge that it is not necessary to discount. A website that provides a discount on a Rolex may also be suspicious. I would avoid this retailer at any cost. You risk purchasing a high-quality imitation Rolex watch if you're looking for the lowest price on the Rolex watch. The cost of Rolex watches has been high for a long time, and will continue to remain that way for decades to come. While other Swiss brands offer similar quality at a more affordable price, their watches do not have the same luster of Rolex.
Is Rolex In Switzerland Cheap?
Watches made by Rolex are manufactured in four factories in Switzerland. People are often wondering if a Rolex is cheaper in Switzerland. When in Switzerland, Rolex watches might be less expensive if taxes and duties are taken into account. The Rolex price list at AD (MRRP) is about identical across the globe, except for short-term currency variations. Buying a Rolex in Switzerland isn't worth the effort. It is better to cultivate relationships with your local AD over the long haul.
If you live in Switzerland, Rolex is cheaper due to the sales tax. The issue arises when you return home with an entirely new Rolex watch purchased in Switzerland. If you are caught carrying your recently purchased Rolex back in a way that is not legal (without a US Customs Declaration) back to your home country, it may be taken away. Duty-free discounts are available only to countries of origin, and not the country of residence. Duty-free status is available for purchases made within the nation of the purchase.
In order to purchase Rolex watches from abroad, import taxes must be paid as well as declarations of customs have to be filed. Duty-free exemptions permit Americans to import goods into the country without paying duties. Rolex are not eligible for the exemption since it is only available to $800 per individual.
If your watch goes over your customs limit, it is not confiscated, however, you'll be charged duty. Watches purchased in Switzerland must be declared. No matter where they come from, if they're duty-free stores at airports, Rolex boutiques, or gifts, it doesn't matter.
Do you think it is worth it to receive a discount at Switzerland Duty-Free? Local and state taxes might be applicable to the watch that you import to the United States. The act of attempting to avoid paying US Customs duty is a crime of the highest level. If CBP officers find your Rolex smuggled, they may seize the item.
What Rolex are COSC chronometers?
The watches made from Rolex are chronometers, which are timekeeping devices that have been certified as precision. Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute (COSC) is accrediting timepieces (Chronometer). The CHRONOMETER title ensures the accuracy and distinctiveness of timekeeping instruments. The presence of such a tag indicates the highest level of excellence throughout the production process. In its testing guidelines, the Controle Official Swiss Chronometres follows ISO 3159. A chronometer watch's certification is granted by the COSC The COSC is The Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute. An official chronometer certificate is only granted to watches that are in compliance with the standards of precision set by ISO 3159. Watches that pass precision tests and receive certification from the COSC are referred to as Chronometers, but only in Switzerland.
A watch must be certified with an COSC accuracy of +6 to -4 seconds each day in order to get certified. The ISO 3159 testing criteria are met by chronometers that use spring balance oscillators. During testing every watch's movement is tested in three temperature ranges in five different locations. With the use of webcams, the daily size is recorded. Based on these observations, seven eliminative criteria are calculated, and each one has to be fulfilled. The watch has to be driven by springs for it to get certified by COSC.
A chronometer certification demands that the movement be assembled in the hands of an expert watchmaker as well as using top quality components. COSC-certified watches account for about 3% of Swiss production of watches. There aren't any watches made by Rolex that aren't certified by COSC. Rolex watches bearing the brand Superlative chronometers officially certified are COSC certified.
Are Rolex Real Gold?
Rolex watches are in large part made from stainless steel 904L not gold. Rolex does not manufacture gold-plated watches. Solid gold (18ct) is utilized in Rolex gold watches. The gold-plated case, bracelet, bezel, and crown are all made from solid gold while many other brands employ gold plating. The gold-colored elements in Rolex's collection are authentic 18ct gold. Rolex produces their own gold. The most gold is found on the case and the bracelet of a Rolex watch.
Rolex Gold Content: How Much is It? Depending upon the watch model as well as bracelet setup, Rolex Rolesor Steel and Gold Two-Tone watches have 20 grams of 18 Karat gold. The gold content is higher found in Rolex Gold watches than other Rolex watches. The gold equivalent of 99 grams make up the 18ct of Rolex Day-Date-President Gold. A little over 150 grams of solid 18k gold make up the Gold Rolex GMT-Master II. The stamp 750 on Rolex watches shows that the gold is 75 percent pure, or 18 Karat Gold.
All of Rolex's platinum and Gold are made inside the company. Rolex has an foundry. Since Rolex began manufacturing gold alloys, they have not tarnished or changed color. Rolex has created consistent alloys with its control over the gold foundry process, comprising Yellow Gold, White Gold, and Everose the Rolex's exclusive pink gold alloy. Rolex manufactures the various types of gold alloys exclusively with 18 ct gold, which is made up of 750* (thousandths) pure gold mixed with copper and silver.
What Is Rolesor? Rolex is known for the 18ct and stainless steel models Rolesor. Rolesor has watches that come with a two-tone gold bracelet, including pink, yellow and white The links on the outer edges that make up the bracelets are made of stainless steel 904L while the links in the middle are made of 18k gold. The crown and the bezel are also made of gold in addition to the band.
Can I Use Original Warranty To Regular Service Rolex?
An Rolex watch comes with an international warranty of five years beginning from the date of purchase. After purchasing an Rolex It comes with an assurance that it will work well for five years. Damages resulting from misuse by the Rolex watch are not covered by the guarantee. The Rolex warranty covers manufacturing defects but does not cover the wear and tear that occurs to the watch throughout its life. When choosing a Rolex, remember to consider the cost of servicing. There isn't a lifetime warranty with this Rolex. It is the Rolex warranty has been extended to five years since 2015. If the watch fails to work as expected because due to a manufacturing defect, Rolex will cover the costs of repair.
The warranty for a Rolex watch is only purchased by submitting an AD. Rolex watches sold on the grey market are not covered under the warranty of the manufacturer. In order to become legally valid Rolex guarantee cards must be registered in full by the official retailer at the time of purchase.
Wear and tear are not covered by Rolex warranties, which includes scratches and abrasions that occur on bracelets, cases, crystals, or bezels. The Rolex warranty does not cover the cost of Rolex service. The warranty will be null and void when repairs or work are performed by a third party. Substituting or adding components, accessories, or parts will invalidate the warranty.
Rolex Service is required to restore the Rolex to its original appearance and functions following the normal wear and tear when the watch is being used. As a result that the cost of maintaining your Rolex is not covered by the guarantee offered by Rolex. Generally, Rolex polishes marks and scratches as part of their standard service. An Rolex Service Center can replace the crystal in the Rolex watch service if it is scratched. In the event that you damage or mark the case, bracelet or crystal, the Rolex guarantee doesn't cover it. A Rolex watch isn't protected by the company's 5-year guarantee against wear and tear.

i've resigned myself to the fact that i just won't manage to read most of my reading list

Content warning: homelessness, disability, poverty, the usual from your friendly neighborhood screw-up.
PayPal is tashabot at gmail.
Cashapp | Ko-Fi | PayPal.me | Car Wishlist on Amazon | Needs Wishlist
The TLDR:
We're getting kicked out of our current place and don't know if we're gonna have a place to go to. Raven is a reluctant veteran and we're trying that route but we don't know if it will be successful.
My car, which we use to DoorDash and make money, is dead until Tuesday, which means we miss out on an entire weekend of work. It needs a lot of other things too.
Neither of us qualifies for disability, but when you look at the amount of disabilities (which we're gathering the paperwork for), we do - but trying to get it is hard.
I've been out of work since November and I can't find a job that can make reasonable accommodations.
I can't write because I can't sit upright anymore for very long and my only working computer is a desktop. This means that one of my joys is taken away from me, and also a means of making some freelance money.
Luckily we get EBT so food is not an issue.
Total raised as of today: 0/$2,500.
Details under the cut. I will reblog with updates and what money was spent on. I will also update if things on the wishlist for the car or needs are made, so that I can lower the amount. I'm just real screwed right now: when the car is WORKING, I bring in, max, $800 a month. It's usually closer to $500 a month.
Thanks for reading, and please consider a signal boost.
Totals needed:
Security deposit help - $500
U-Haul: $100 (including refundable deposit and gas)
Pet carriers: $100 (we have three cats)
Boxes and totes: $100 or so (we need good sturdy handles because of our disabilities)
Utility deposits: $300
Cigarettes: $150ish. I know. Please don't right now.
Cat food: $25
Cat litter: $25
Phone bill (with late fee): $366. I have a lot of EIPs that I got into when I still had a job. :( I have made a payment arrangement so we don't get shut off but... yeah.
Gas: ~$150
Car insurance: $74
Registration: $80
Parts: $90
Sundries: ~$150
Least-important thing, a Chromebook to write on: $220.
Total: Just under $2,500.
So our roommate who decided he wanted to be a landlord without actually upholding the landlord stuff he's legally required to do has decided that we need to leave. Not because of money, but because we just don't get along. Raven hates that they're a veteran but we're leaning into it to try and secure a place to live, and are working with Nation's Finest (Formerly the Veteran's Resource Center) to try and acquire housing. We have to be out by April 1st.
We will need help with a security deposit (the Nevada Rural Housing Authority can help us with up to $700, but since the average 1-bedroom apartment is going for $1,200 per month right now, that's not gonna be enough), a U-Haul, pet carriers because our old one fell apart, packing boxes, etc.
When we move I'll also need to get utilities set up: Electric, gas, internet. We'll need probably close to $100 each for deposits on those, so that's $300.
The other day I posted about my check engine light coming on. I was able to secure the knock sensor, but that leaves me without the ability to make money to pay my phone bill, get gas, buy cigarettes (I know, we should quit. Please don't make me explain why now is not the time to bring that up), get cat food for our three cats, get cat litter, pay my insurance bill, and register my dead car that I'm hoping to fix because it's a better car. It's been non-operative so I can potentially waive the late registration fee of $12 by filing a certificate of non-op, but I can't guarantee that, so the registration cost for the Toyota is $80.
I also need additional parts, which are listed on my Amazon Car wishlist. It's not good for my back and knees and neck and everything for me to do my own car work, but needs must. So that means I need $18 for a valve gasket kit, $30 for a refurbished Idle Air Control Valve, $14 for an absolute pressure sensor, $9 for an engine compartment air filter, and if I'm really lucky, $9 for a new rear windshield wiper because it's difficult to see back there. That's a total of $80 plus taxes (let's round up to $90) for car parts.
Raven and I need new underwear, socks, shoes, allergy meds, and some toiletries that we're out of. I'd estimate ~$150 or so for that. I've been putting it off because, you know, broke, but my underwear disintegrated this morning when I went to go to the bathroom soooo uh.... yeah. A lot of this stuff is on our Needs wishlist linked above, as well.
The last thing on the list is the only "nice" thing. I found a 15" Chromebook at Walmart for $200, which should be roughly $220 after taxes. It would allow me to write again. I'm upright right now composing this and have only been at it for about 15 minutes and my back is killing me already - and that's with heavy-duty anti-inflammatories and the max dose of gabapentin they will prescribe you daily. A Chromebook would be a huge benefit to my life. It is obviously the least-important item on the list, but I cannot stress how much this would improve the quality of both of our lives - because I could also take freelance writing on.

JULY UPDATE - Premium Currency, Season Passes, and ANOTHER Premium Shop... oh god why
Hello all, this is an overall rundown and analysis of the July update, and first impressions of it’s features. Please note, that I’m going to be a tad bit hypercritical of the whole thing- I’ll be honest about the pros and cons, because I genuinely want to see this game become amazing. There will be a TL;DR at the bottom - I encourage you to read that if nothing else, because I want to make an important point there.
Season Passes
Okay, this feature struck me as a bit... strange. When I first saw the name, I immediately thought of the way Fortnite and Epic Games make money, which didn’t exactly leave a good taste in my mouth. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that this is a free feature... and once again disappointed to see the premium version.
Rundown:
By completing tasks assigned to the player in a challenge board, you unlock points to earn a wide variety of prizes, from items, to likes, to avatars, and even customization options for said avatar. However, the bulk of these items are under a 900 star fragment paywall, which translates to about $10.
My Breakdown:
Not gonna lie, this ain’t great. It does throw some new items at the players, which is nice and all, but honestly, there really isn’t much incentive to actually complete the challenges if you aren’t buying the premium pass. How “good” the items you can earn for free strongly remind me of how “good” the nonmember items back in Animal Jam were. And they are RARE - when you get to later in the list, there are very few items marked as “free”. Wildworks may as well have just dropped the concept of a premium pass, and just made the entire season pass cost money. Plus, while the update claims that you can earn points for the challenges “just by playing the game”, this really isn’t true. Most of them are such oddly specific tasks, I would need to go out of my way to complete nearly every single one of them. And the ones that are “normal gameplay” challenges have OUTRAGEOUSLY HIGH numbers. For example, crafting 15 common clothing items. I would need to waste a LOT of materials to do that, since most players pretty carefully plan which items to craft for which looks.
Star Fragments and the Astral Shop
I’m not gonna pretend that this wasn’t coming. Most free games require premium currency. But while the game is still in beta?
Rundown:
Fer.al’s new premium currency. It appears that buying sanctuaries and avatars with straight money was more of a placeholder - the royal boutique now serves the exclusive role of selling star fragments, which you will now spend at the astral shop. On average, 1 star fragment costs anywhere from 1.25 cents - 1.1 cents, depending upon which bundle you buy. This means that a 300 star fragment sanctuary in the astral shop costs about $3.53.
My Breakdown:
I don’t really have too much to say about this, to be honest. I’ve expressed my fears about monetizing an unfinished game in previous posts. After the dragon, there was no going back.
The Notification Tab
A nifty new tool that notifies you on challenge progress, and your friends getting on and offline. There may be other things it notifies you of as well that I haven’t seen yet. Overall, a useful new feature.
Selfie Camera
Another feature on the better side of things. Although, it is a little mundane, it does one-up just taking a screenshot - you have the ability to zoom in and out, and turn nametags on and off. It creates a “gallery” folder on your computer that opens with an in-game button.
Undying
You can also now undye your items. Someone will need this after a regretful decision, I’m sure.
TL;DR and Final Concerns
The reason that I took such a critical tone in this post is that Fer.al, in my opinion, is heading down a negative path. Currently, the game has no real substance - which is fine in itself, given that it’s a work in progress. However, they’re already introducing a LOT of paid content, and not only paywalls, but do-hours-of-pointless-miscellaneous-tasks-walls. In a way, the game is becoming pay-to-win. So long as “winning” the game is having the best items and the best avatar, winning is no longer free. Fer.al is such a beautiful game, and beautiful concept, and I hate to see it turning out this way. Wildworks needs to give the game more substance- more goals- more reward- more story- SOMETHING, before they start to introduce such steep in-game purchases. They’re going after a teen/adult audience, and most of us can’t dish out money to play dress up anymore.

You’ve Set my Soul to Dreaming  Pt. 1
Christmas has always been Steve Harrington’s time to shine.
It wasn’t that it was his favorite time of year; darkness falling at 5pm bummed him out, and the heat in his house was never good enough to stand up to the freezing, unpredictable Hawkins weather. Overall, he preferred the spring, when the sun was warm and the breeze was cool and the flowers were blooming.
But festivity, that suited him well, and, probably more than anything, so did giving people things. In the non-physical sense, he always gave his all to ensure that everyone around him was happy.
Whether that was a good character trait or a flaw on his part he had yet to decide, but nobody could say that Steve Harrington was selfish. Sometimes it felt like he gave so much away that there wasn’t even much of him left at all, so much as just who he tried to be for his friends, for his parents.
Literally though, he was the best at presents too. Maybe it was the unlimited bank account, or just the fact that he was so considerate, but everyone always loved what he bought, or made, in the case of the few exes who’d refused material possessions over a heartfelt, handmade gift. (ugh)
That’s why, every year, he couldn’t help but buy as many presents as possible. For his mum, his friends, though the supply of those was getting rather sparse recently, the kids he babysat, their parents, the neighbors, the house keepers, his teachers, pretty much just anybody who he could possibly think of a reason to give them something got an expensive little novelty in hopes that he'd get to see their grateful reaction.
Sometimes he wondered if they just faked it to make him feel better about himself, but he kept doing it anyhow because it did make him feel better about himself, thank you very much.
Especially because recently, there was a lot going on to feel not so good about.
This would mark the tenth year in a row that his parents flew out to the tropics, where it didn’t snow or reach temperatures even half as cold as Indiana, and that’d been fine and dandy for a while, since before, he was living in the childish daydream being home alone, and after that he’d always had someone to spend it with.
But this year, this year he’d be all alone, in his mansion big enough for half of the city’s population to fit inside, and he’d been feeling pretty lousy about it since they informed him of the trip in early December.
That and the fact that he’d almost been killed a handful of times literally a month ago didn’t bode too well for his Christmas spirit.
Steve Harrington didn’t back down from a little hardship though, so what if he was plagued by a sense of crippling loneliness and nightmares bad enough to keep him awake for days on end, that just wouldn't be enough to keep him from rising to the occasion.
‘Tis the season to shove aside all that troubles you and put the needs of others before your own right?
So the morning of the fifteenth, the last day before winter break, Steve does as he always does and ditches his books, opting to instead stuff his backpack full of presents.
They’re wrapped terribly, he’s never been too good with his hands, and recently they’ve started to shake when he gets too nervous, so it’s kind of, lumpy, wrinkled, way too much wrapping paper on tiny boxes, but he’s happy with it. Even if he stabbed himself with the scissors about a million times and got tape in his hair trying to get them wrapped.
Another of Steve’s holiday trademarks is ugly sweaters. He has exactly twenty five of them, one for every day leading up to Christmas, and he wears them religiously.
These aren’t just any old tacky sweaters either, they’re homemade, the ugliest of the ugly.
His gramma had done basically nothing but knit in her free time, so when she heard that her grandbaby wanted a Christmas sweater and couldn’t find one that wasn’t made out of wool, (side bar, he was extremely allergic, like, life-threateningly so) she made him enough to last him the entire month of December up to Christmas Day.
Thank heavens she was terrible with sizes, so they all still fit if not just a little snugly even about 10 years after she made them. By now they were somewhat faded and pilled and riddled with loose threads, but they were soft as all hell and one of a kind, so he didn’t bother with replacing them.
This particular morning he’d chosen a white sweater embroidered with tiny versions of his childhood poodle Charlie in her little Christmas hat, the first his gramma did without a pattern, and his absolute favorite.
Maybe everyone else though it was dumb how into the whole thing he got, but nothing made him happier than pulling up to the school in a sweater from ‘74 with a bag full of overpriced knickknacks.
Steve started his day by giving Jonathan and Nancy their gifts in the cafeteria before the first bell rang, since they wouldn’t all three see each other again throughout the rest of the day, and he could barely contain his excitement.
Watching his friends carefully pull apart the crummy wrap job he’d done was probably one of the best feelings ever, in his opinion. Or maybe it was just the knowing that he’d put a thoughtful effort into making other people happy combined with the fact that he was using all that hoarded wealth that went towards nothing but funding his parents trips to bring someone a gift that would mean more to them than those wasteful luxuries.
Whatever it was that compelled him so, it was enough that he had to stuff his hands in his pockets and bite his tongue to keep from making a fool of himself in front of the whole school while he waited for Nancy and Jonathan to open their presents.
This year he’d reined the budget in a little, since last Christmas he’d gone just a little bit overboard with a $300 camera for Jonathan and a necklace and a ring for Nancy that cost him a 7th of his (very expensive) car payment. He still probably spent more than was considered normal, just not enough that his parents would notice the huge sum of money missing this time.
They didn’t have a whole lot of time before the bell would ring and they would split off to their respective classes, but it was enough that Steve got to see their reactions and revel in the hug Nancy gave him on behalf of the both of them.
He’d opted to get Jonathan a bag for the camera he’d gotten him last year, since you never know when something could happen to it, and before he even had it all the way unwrapped, Jonathan was getting his camera out of the bag he already used to put it in the new one.
Nancy got a bag this year too, but hers was a fancy designer thing he’d picked out of a catalog meant for his mother. He figured she’d need it for when she went off to college, or got the journalist job she’d been telling him about for a year and a half.
Heading off for first period, he already felt the swell of pride that comes with the season, and he could not wait to hand out the rest.
Perhaps another of his favorite parts was that, giving people things was the secret to saving his reputation when he was the way he was.
Everyone knew Steve Harrington was the “up to no good” type, who bought weed off of the shady guys camping out at parties, and got in your daughters panties just to promptly break her heart, and who fails all of his classes and barely scrapes by in high school.
But then he shows up in a hand knitted sweater and with a candy cane between his lips to spread his Christmas cheer, and suddenly all is forgiven, and he is transformed into the sweet Harrington boy who always gave the most thoughtful gifts.
First on the list was Mrs. Click, the history teacher he’d been stuck with since sophomore year.
History was by far his worst subject, and Mrs Click wasn’t the type to make sure you understood before she sprung a pass or fail pop quiz, so he’d failed her class twice.
Even with how stupid she had to think he was, the bright smile on her bitter old face when he handed over the little box with a large Givenchy brooch inside meant that he’d earned his redemption for the third year in a row.
Next was the tie-pin for Mr. Cook, the Spanish teacher, a little golden thing that had cost him more than he’d like to admit and earned him a pat on the back. He was good enough at remembering what he had to know in Spanish, but reading and speaking it? He might as well have been completely illiterate.
His pronunciations were so poor that even the chunky ruby inlay was almost not enough to save face, but in the end his ego got its booster anyhow.
The rest of the day went on like that: a bottle of Mon Parfum for Miss Foster, the English teacher, a SoundBand for the coach, a gift card to the most expensive store he could think of for Mrs.  Hall, and so and so forth, each giving him that same rush of confidence, a sense that he was doing something important until he was practically floating through the halls.
By seventh period math, he’s only got two gifts left. A fancy pen set for Mr. Butler, and the other, well, the other one is for Billy Hargrove.
Billy Hargrove who, only about a month ago, had beat his stupid face in and gave him a concussion he still wasn’t quite over, and who definitely wasn’t going to give him that giddy joy he usually got from giving gifts, but he still felt like he needed to extend a holly branch.
Because the way he saw it, Billy couldn’t take all the blame for what went down, so why shouldn’t he be the one to try to apologize, be the bigger person and earn Billy’s respect through his shopping abilities like he did with everyone else.
He knows it’s kind of poorly thought out, maybe even completely crazy to try to make a peace offering to a boy who could practically be called his bully, but he’s still not anticipating the fact that, when he walks down the third row of desks and holds out the little box wrapped in red paper for the other boy to take, Billy just sort of stares at him.
Shaking it a little, like he’s trying to get the attention of a cat with a bag of treats, Steve sets the box down on Billy’s desk and retreats to his own seat a few aisles over.
That’s where it stays until about halfway through the period, which is just a free day anyways, no 75 year old man in his right mind would make a room full of teenagers do algebra on the last day before Christmas break, when Billy finally leans forward and snatches the gift box off the polished surface.
Steve could try to pretend he’s not staring, vibrating in anticipation of Billy’s reaction to the gift, a silver zippo with Venetian engraving, but he’s caught when Billy, having dumped the lighter out of the box and into his hand, turning it over a few times, turns to look at him.
There’s a look on his face that’s a cross between confusion and surprise and something unreadable, like maybe he’s trying to tell Steve with just a look that this was a mistake, and he’s going to kick his ass again as soon as the bell rings, but in a way he still thinks it’s worth it.
Because Steve Harrington does not have enemies, no matter how many toes he steps on and things he does wrong, and maybe Billy won’t accept a fancy lighter as an apology, but at least he’ll know that he tried to make peace.
Even after he turns his attention to the gossip circle running in front of him, Steve can feel Billy’s eyes on him. It’s borderline creepy, in Steve’s own opinion, but he supposes he can understand it.
He might have been a little more grateful and not so stalkerish were he in the same situation, but, potato potahto.
As soon as the bell rings Billy’s out of there like a bat out of hell. He’s up out of his seat before anyone else, halfway out the door and tossing a crumpled ball of red paper in the trash before the rest of the class could even blink.
At first, Steve isn’t even sure that Billy didn’t throw the whole zippo away, but he sees it catch the light from where it’s held tight in Billy’s fist just before he disappears through the doorway completely.
The fact that the lighter wasn’t in the bottom of the trash can was a good sign, but, this still didn’t bode all that well for a Christmas truce.

SendinBlue VS GetResponse! Which One To Choose? (Full Guide)
More than 50% of the world population is using email. That is a total of 3.9 billion people, approximately. Thus, Email marketing is a strong and influential way to connect with your target market.
Digital marketers and entrepreneurs now have their tools for marketing. When it comes to Email marketing SendinBlue and GetResponse are two widely used email marketing tools.
Both of these tools have made our lives easier in terms of digital marketing. They are not limited to just email marketing. There are many other noticeable features of these tools. But which one is highly recommended? Just read on to find out.
The core differences between SendinBlue and GetResponse.
SendinBlue and GetResponse are almost the same, but few distinct differences make one better than the other. The core differences are as follows:
SendinBlue has an additional SendinBlue messaging service (SMS Marketing), which SendinBlue assists in marketing, whereas; GetResponse has a premier webinar marketing service.
SendinBlue offers an unlimited free package, but on the other hand, GetResponse only offers a 30-day free trial.
The main vending point of SendinBlue is its transaction emailing tool (SMTP service), and that of GetResponse is its autoresponder and sales funnel.
You can pay on SendinBlue as you use it, but GetResponse has a strict monthly payment schedule.
GetResponse is as old as 1998, but SendinBlue was launched a few years back in 2012.
Knowing that both SendinBlue and GetResponse are not much expensive, but there is more to it. They are the ones that offer a complete package and have all the features you want. Didn’t get my point?
Well, to start off with, if you have used SendinBlue, you would know that it is not just a basic mail marketing tool. It is way more than something ordinary. It has SMS marketing, CRM, social media advertisement, and landing pages other than just email marketing. GetResponse has email marketing coupled with webinars, landing pages, CRM, Sales Funnels, and a lot of other features to side with this.
Until now, both of them sound good enough. So how would one decide which one is the better one?
In this review of SendinBlue vs. GetResponse, you will know the basic things about them, which are their functions, features, prices, reliability, effectiveness, etc. here, you will find more stuff that you usually don’t get to find on their websites or in other reviews.
An Outline of GetResponse and SendinBlue
GetResponse

One thing that SendinBlue can never get to as compared to GetResponse is age and experience. GetResponse started in 1998, and now it has experience in digital marketing and email automation for more than two decades. It was made by a polish teen boy who wanted to make a lasting impact on online marketing through email marketing.
The tagline of GetResponse is the “world’s easiest email marketing software to use.” It has stood by its stance as it has a very easy and simplified user interface. It has simplified autoresponders, sending emails, making lists, online surveys, and newsletters.
And that’s not all! GetResponse has made itself a compact marketing solution over the years. It is an amalgamation of CRM and online marketing consisting of email marketing, sales funnels, webinar hosting, and landing pages.
It has made great progress over the years. It has 350,000 users all across the world in 182 countries. To add to that, almost 1 billion people subscribe to GetResponse every month!
Considering all of this, can it outshine SendinBlue?
SendinBlue

SendinBlue came to the scene in 2012 when all of the other such email marketing tools were already doing well, and we were familiar with all of them, including GetResponse. So in such a case, when SendinBlue came out of the blue, it was a most probable prediction that it would stand no chance.
But on the contrary, SendinBlue stood its ground and made its mark among the top email marketing tools within a few years. The thing that led to its success was its amazing services with a lesser budget. This is what the competitors were not able to provide.
Now SendinBlue is considered the cheapest and most wide-ranging email automation and marketing. Not only just email marketing, but it also provides SMS marketing, online sessions, advertising through social media, and CRM.
Almost 80,000 users across 160 countries have used to this date, and it has been gaining more and more positive reviews and acknowledgments from the users.
All of the above information seems a lot to outdo. But can SendinBlue outdo it even?
The Main Features of SendinBlue and GetResponse
User-friendly
SendinBlue
The first thing of SendinBlue that outdoes GetResponse is its free package. You can use the software free for as long as you want to until you exceed 300 emails a day. After this limit, you need to take the premium package.
If you manage to keep the limited amount of contacts in the free plan, you can get further benefits. You can arrange them in lists subscribers through customized signup forms. This is done by the SendinBlue innovative segmentation tool. Now coming to marketing campaigns, free users can use basic email automation.
It does not matter whichever pricing plan you choose; you will get a smooth and easy user interface on SendinBlue. It is enjoyable as the users can have a rationalized flow with a sophisticated layout. Keeping in view that the website has several marketing tools and many users’ even beginners, use it, so the user interaction is made simplified. It is to make the beginners, and new users do not feel out of place. The drop-down menus and tools are easy to use with self-explanatory labels.
To make you feel more at home, it is made in such a way that you can personalize your own tool according to your preferences. You can turn off the functions that you are not using and add the ones you need more onto the navigation bar. Third-party plugins can also be added to SendinBlue, for example, CRM or e-commerce marketing tools.
GetResponse
Talking of free plan usage, unfortunately, GetResponse offers just a free trial of 30 days as compared to the permanent free package of SendinBlue. After a free trial, it will cost you $10.50 minimum to use it for longer.
Talking of the free trial, the free trial plan offers you to try all the tools entirely before you buy one for yourself. The user interface is very smooth. You will find every tool organized and in its place. It makes the users quickly get accustomed to it. The tools are easy to use, especially when using them in custom mode.
On the whole, you will not find GetResponse difficult to use. You can import contacts, build campaigns, and all that stuff easily. What might be a bit challenging for you is the automation tools usage.
Email Marketing Campaigns
GetResponse
GetResponse is also very user interactive as SendinBlue, but the thing is that it might not be as easy to use for beginners. But it is quite accessible when you are once familiar with it about email marketing tactics.
Once you learn how to use it, you can do more with it than just basic emails. GetResponse has tools for welcome emails, transaction emails, abandoned cart emails, email newsletters, and other such email marketing options. How you want that email, you can change it by using dynamic tools or A/B testing.
SendinBlue
Email marketing is the core of SendinBlue. All the other features are somehow linked to it. So the one feature of SendinBlue that you should expect to be perfect is the email marketing feature. Talking of that, SendinBlue has put in a lot of effort to make its feature the best. To enhance it and make it more interactive, many other competencies are accuracy, personalization options, email engagement, and the campaign’s whole efficiency.
When you are dealing with a larger audience, it takes a lot of time to send emails to each one of them. SendinBlue has made it easier for you. With SendinBlue, all you have to do is make a customized template and then enter a few customizations you want to make to each one of them. This tool will edit each one for you and then email them to the targeted audiences. This way, you will get customized emails that are interactive enough for each client without needing to write it over and over again.
Email marketing is useful when you are aware of the appropriate timings. SendinBlue also allows you to schedule timings, and your emails will be sent to the recipients on the optimally decided time.
The recipients drive the most accurate insights into your campaigns. Although, the email marketing experts can give you a vague idea about it as well.SendinBlue has an A/B testing feature for such tests.
Many users say that SendinBlue is reliable is sending and managing transactional campaigns.  You can customize emails for order validation, payment validation, receipts and invoices, shipping updates, order completion, refunding, and all such features. All you need to do is feed the accurate information, and SendinBlue will do its job.
Design And Templates
GetResponse
GetResponse is the same as the SendinBlue. It also combines the editor with templates to let you make your custom email. However, GetResponse has more variety of templates than SendinBlue. It has more than 500 already built templates. They are in different colors and layouts. You can choose what you think will best suit your needs.
This wide range of templates allows you to use a unique layout for every campaign. It will keep the audience engaged.
As for SendinBlue, there are some restricted options for editing and customization, but on the contrary to that, GetResponse has an endless amount of editing options. You can introduce buttons, change layouts, change font size and color to your content. However, this process can take some time!
It’s not that GetResponse is completely coded less. If you have skills, then you can edit its HTML and introduce advanced options. But I don’t think so that further introduction of options will be required because there are already many. You can use spam checkers for checking spams and A/B testing to check the performance of email and its customizations.
Automation
GetResponse
GetResponse allows drag and drops editing option in automation that is not available as such in SendinBlue. By GetResponse, you can make detailed workflows using conditions, actions, and filters. Conditions are specific situations that initiate automation; actions are the automation tasks that need to be completed by the system. Filters are some things that you block out or arrange the contacts in.
You can create automation tasks for messages, page visits, subscriptions, engagement messages, and other related things. So the automation of GetResponse is better and more flexible than SendinBlue.
SendinBlue
SendinBlue advanced segmentation tools help you group your contacts, and then the automated editor manages the automation workflow of emails.
SendinBlue has always made it easier and the least steps involved for the users. Both the beginners and even the experienced ones can easily use it. It has eight inbuilt workflow templates that allow the users to complete the action easily.so; just choose the best one for you, make the plausible changes, and you are ready to go with it.
Well, unfortunately, it is not as easy as this for extensive workflows. You need to have the basic knowledge of programming, at least the use of ‘if,’ ‘then’ and ‘else’ functions. This will help you in creating larger sequences of actions.
There are other automation tools such as drag and drop and A/B testing.

Bottom Line (Conclusion)
Now that you have read all the comparative points of SendinBlue and GetResponse, I will give my verdict on which one is better.
In my opinion, if you are a beginner writer, then SendinBlue is a better option for you. Even you are not a starter, but you own a medium-sized business, you should prefer SendinBlue over GetResponse. This is because it is more users friendly and you can easily understand all of its features.
And more important allows you to pay per emails and not per subscriber, and this is important for beginners.
SendinBlue definitely outdoes GetResponse when it comes to simplicity and being easy to use. Furthermore, I think that the store owners or other recipients of emails will find SendinBlue way of email transaction engaging. It is a better email marketing choice for you.
On the other hand, GetResponse is more appropriate for high-level automation and workflow. It is for those people who are already into e-commerce for a while now, and they want to get into deeper intricacies of the content.
Especially if you are looking into building Sales Funnels and Automation systems.
I hope this helps you decide which service fits your business!

okay so I'm probably going to make an unpopular statement, above all considering the platform I'm sharing it on but I feel like Tumblr is one of the places on the net where one should raise awareness the most considering the popularity of this topic. frankly, I don' t care about the repercussions because this is a serious matter I'm really passionate about. I've already talked about it on Twitter, where a few days ago this was a hot topic & I collected a lot of data from various point of views. let me just repeat my own stand one more time:
please, do not romanticize the mafia in any way, shape or form
I think a lot of misconceptions have been spread all over the world about what the mafia is all about and let me tell you that as an Italian citizen well-studied on the matter, fancy lifestyles and hot-ass possessive mobsters ready to romance the fvck out of you is not it. it's quite disrespectful to picture this romanticized version of a real world-wide issue through media (official and unofficial) and I will proceed to explain why. a lot of people on Twitter think they have every right to treat the matter as something (and I quote) "meaningless" so I went ahead and made a thread about the "meaningless" crimes committed by the Italian mafias.
mind that the articles I've linked as well as their titles contain some pretty graphic descriptions and/or pictures, I recommend refraining from reading if those may trigger you
here are some of the most cruel and well-known atrocities that make up the mafious history (past and present) to better understand what we're talking about. I guarantee that everything you know about the mafia (from the concept of honor, to that of familial loyalty and union showcased into the media) is wrong:

adding this one too, which is a list of victims killed by the Sicilian Mafia ONLY, countless others have been brutally and unjustly murdered by the other Italian mafias too
in conclusion: people have died, people still grieve the losses of their siblings and friends and co-citizens, people are still fighting and people have died trying. to create fictional works or tiktok videos or whatever people are doing these days twisting the very cruel and very gruesome reality of the mafia is and will forever be disrespectful to its victims, past present and unfortunately future. this doesn't mean one shouldn't be free to create a fictional work based off the world of criminal organizations, but to do so while being unproblematic requires two possible solutions:
1. to respectfully treat the issue through a realistic depiction of the mafia, based on documented research and actual facts
and/or
2. to satisfy your need for a criminal/mobster love interest WITHOUT attributing the scenario to the mafia, for example by simply calling it a criminal!au instead than a mafia!au - this is really an easy and accessible solution, it costs literally nothing to change this habit
keep in mind that in no way am I intending to bring forward any sort of "cultural appropriation" speech as the mafia is in no way part of the Italian culture, nor should it be treated as any cultural asset: it is rather an on-going historical plague. I want to clarify (as many of the people who have spoken up about it have been accused of this) that I am not asking to attribute it to Italians, but rather to recognize the gravity of this deeply-rooted problem.
Mafias are not an aesthetic.
choosing to ignore this crucial fact is to serve as an accomplice & to debase its crimes against humanity.
"We need restless consciences in our country, we need citizens who will say they've had enough! We've been talking about mafia for ages."
— Father Luigi Ciotti, deeply involved in the fight against illegality and organized crime, as the Mafia
"I never asked to deal with the mafia. I got involved by accident. And then I stayed because of a moral issue: people kept dying all around me."
— Judge Paolo Borsellino, killed by the Mafia in the Via D'Amelio bombing because of his investigations against the mafia and his Antimafia Pool which brought to justice 475 mafiosi
"The fight against the mafia must become a cultural movement which accustoms people to appreciate the beauty of the fragrant perfume of freedom opposed to the stink of moral compromise, indifference and therefore of complicity"
— Judge Paolo Borsellino
p. s. one of the scariest parts about the post I've written has been searching for English quotes about the mafia: the only ones you'll find are some kind of inspirational phrases & other famous quotes by world-wide known mobsters which, by the way, are in no way truthful and/or realistic. the Italian testimony has practically been erased in foreign media & is only accessible to Italian speakers. therefore I need to specify that the quotes I've used in this post have been personally translated by me from the Italian source.
"Nobody will avenge us. Our pain has no witness."
— Peppino Impastato, Italian journalist and activist who spoke up his entire life about the mafias, denouncing their crimes, assassinated by Cosa Nostra

Fatal Attraction - Part 6
Tumblr media
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Part 4 Part 5
summary: When a mysterious man shows up at your job, you find yourself inexplicably drawn to him - and him to you. But behind the beautiful face is the dark lifestyle of a man who has made his wealth through becoming the most powerful drug dealer in the city. Word count: 3.1k
warning: smut, chunk of this isn't proof read don’t hate me
It took all of two mornings waking up to Mika to convince you to move in with him. You were surprised at yourself, usually your resolve was a lot stronger. But Mika was, well, Mika and even though he wasn’t putting any pressure on you to make a decision, the thought of waking up to a bed without him in it was enough to make up your mind.
You didn’t tell him, not yet at least. Mika was bringing out the sentimentality in you, something you haven’t felt in quite some time. You knew you wanted to make it special, you just didn’t know how yet. Mika had already made plans for the two of you today, so you were hoping something might spark your creativity.
“Shopping?” you asked as you fished through your duffle bag for something to wear. Another reason you needed to figure out what you wanted to do quickly: you were running out of outfits in your duffle bag.
“Yeah you know you go into a store and pick out what you li-”
“I know what shopping is,” you rolled your eyes, cutting off his joke, “I meant like I didn't expect that to be on the agenda today. I would have thought you had more important things to do.”
Mika shook his head, “That’s what I pay other people to take care of. They can survive awhile without me. What’s important to me today is that I get to spend time with you.”
You blushed, leaning into the soft kiss he placed on your forehead. “So where are we gonna go?” you questioned. You remember hearing something about Old Navy having a sale and you were in need of some new sweaters with the cold weather rolling in.
“I was thinking we could hit Madison Avenue, maybe a bit of 5th depending what you wanna get,” Mika replied casually.
You couldn’t help but laugh, “I couldn’t even tell you what stores are there. Even if I could I couldn’t afford a single thing from them.”
“Don’t worry about that, I’m buying today,” Mika replied, pulling on a sleek leather jacket. It fit him perfectly and looked incredibly expensive. You guessed you shouldn’t have been shocked that he was not Old Navy bound,
“No way Mika, I can't have you dropping that kind of money on me,” you shook your head.
“What’s the point of having tons of money if I can’t spend it on my beautiful girlfriend?” Mika replied, reaching his hand out for you to take.
“I know but still,” you nibbled your lip, taking his hand. Despite being unsure, you let him lead you out.
“Would it make you feel better if the first place we go is for me?” he asked.
“Yes actually, I would enjoy that,” you nodded. Watching him try on some expensive clothes? Sounded like a good afternoon to you.
In the back seat of the car you watched as the city streets morphed in a luxurious outdoor mall. Each storefront was more extravagant than the last, inviting shoppers to come in and spend more than most probably make in a few weeks of work. Luxury stuff had always seemed silly to you, you didn't necessarily believe it was any better than anything else. It was just the name you were paying to flash your status to everyone else.
Still, you weren’t immune to the lure of it all... the stuff was nice after all. There were a few stores that caught your eye and you memorized the names so you could tell Mika where you wanted to go later. You still planned to be conservative with your purchases, though. There was no need to ring up a crazy bill. Maybe just a sweater (which you needed) and a purse (which you just wanted).
“Here,” Mika broke into you imaginary shopping list. Mika helped you out of the car and led you into the store, which had La Perla in gold script above the doorway. You furrowed your brows when you were met by a store filled entirely with lingerie.
“I thought we were shopping for y- oh.” As the words left your mouth it hit you. The clothes may be for you, but the experience was for him. The smirk on Mika’s face told you you were right.
“Here I was thinking I’d be watching you try a bunch of suits on,” you remarked, running your hand over a lacy bra.
Mika chuckled, “Not exactly.” He wandered away from you, distracted by something red and skimpy in the corner.  You did some wandering yourself, drawn to some of the softer pink items they had. You spent so much time in the overtly sexy stuff as a stripper that you thought it would be a nice change to try some of the more delicate pieces.
You flipped the price tag over on a pretty pink lace bra and nearly gasped. Over $300 fro a bra?? This place was definitely not your speed. You were about to go find Mika to tell him this place was ridiculous when you found him making a beeline to you. A black lace teddy in hand, of course.
“I need you to try this on,” Mika said, a hint of strain in his voice. You had to know, you grabbed the tag and read the price.
“Mika this is over $400!” you whisper exclaimed. As stupid as you thought it was you didn't the salespeople to hear you say it. “This is ridiculously expensive.”
“No it’s not.” Mika replied.
You picked up the bra you were looking at and shook it at him, “This should not cost $300 dollars. Thats insanity!”
Mika laughed at your indignation. “Look I know it seems expensive but image the number is off the price. It may say $429 but to me that really like $42 or something. This isn’t a lot to me, so don’t stress about it,” Mika explained, “And I definitely think you should try the pink one too.”
It was weird, you knew Mika had a lot of money - his apartment was more than proof of that - but it was still so foreign to you to have someone talk so nonchalant about spending all that money. It was so far removed from the life you’ve lived, that was for sure.
But the way Mika was looking at you right now... you couldn't resist. You handed him the bra, eliciting a triumphant smile. The two of you shopped a little while longer, which was basically Mika picking out the sexiest things he could find and you ignoring the price tags.
Eventually, the two of you collected an impressive pile and headed for the dressing room. Mika slipped the attendant a couple hundreds and whispered, “We’d like privacy.”
“Of course sir,” she replied quickly, squirreling away the money. Mika wasn’t famous and there was no way the woman even knew who he was aside from being a rich dude with money. Yet, there was a way people regarded Mika, it was like he demanded respect without even having to ask and everyone readily gave it up. His presence alone was powerful and, apparently, very palpable, even to those he has just met. Even with all the time you spent with him, it still made your stomach do flips.
Mika hung up the items he picked out in one of the dressing rooms - which looked nicer than any room in your apartment. “Save the black one for last,” Mika instructed, before pulling the curtain over, leaving you alone to change.
You stared at the array of luxe fabrics before you, trying to figure out wear to start. You decided on a barely-there red two piece because why not start it off with a bang?
It was strange, though, staring at yourself in the sexy little set. Sure, you’ve worn more provocative stuff on stage, which Mika had seen. Hell, you just had sex, there wasn’t much he hadn't seen of you. But something about being dressed up for him in the bright dressing room lights, with nothing to hide behind was intimate for you in away that made your heart race.
You couldn’t keep him waiting forever, though. With a deep breath, you pulled aside the curtain dividing the two of you. Mika immediately perked up, drawing in a breath.
“Fuck,” he said, his voice just above a whisper.
“Oh come on, it’s not like you haven't seen this before,” you brushed him off, as if his reaction to you wasn’t fueling your ego.
“Doesn’t mean you still don’t take my breath away,” he replied, reaching out for you. You obliged, stepping close enough to allow him to run his hands up and down your sides.
“I don’t think you’re gonna make it through all the lingerie I have to try on,” you teased. Honestly, though, if he kept looking at you like that you weren’t going to make it through either.
Mika chuckled, sitting back in his chair, “Don’t worry baby, I’m a patient man. Now try on that pink one, yeah? I think it will suit you perfectly.” As you spun around to he'd back into the dressing room Mika gave your ass a playful slap. You let out a little shriek giggle as you shut the curtain behind that.
And you went on like that for a while, trying on ridiculously expensive lingerie and having Mika all but drool over you every time. Each time it got harder to retreat back into the dressing room and not straddle his lap and kiss that teasing smirk off his face.
Finally you made it to the black lace teddy, which you knew Mika was most excited about. At first you thought it would be nothing special, but when you put it on you never felt sexier. It hugged your body perfectly, accentuating every curve. The delicate lace inked a deep black made it a perfect balance of pretty and sexy.
“Wow,” was all Mika could manage when you stepped out for him.
“You like?” you arched your brow, a smile playing at your lips.
“Love,” Mika replied, standing up and stepping towards you. His arms wrapped around your waist, pulling you closer to him. His lips found yours and it was like a switch flipped. His soft, demure touches were now hungry. He kissed you deeply, as he walked you back into the dressing you. He pulled the curtain over and pushed you agains the wall.
“Mika,” you gasped, surprised his sudden burst of dominance, “What are you doing?”
“What do you think I’m doing?” Mika asked, kiss down your body, his finger ghosting over your clothed core.
“We can’t do this, people are in the store,” you whispered, ignoring how good it felt to have him touching you. You knew it was wrong, but the idea of being caught any moment was getting you even more turned on.
“I told them to leave us alone,” Mika replied, lips still peppering kisses over your skin.
“I don’t think they includes having sex in their store,” you shot back, fighting back a moan.
Mika was eye level with you again, his hand cupping your chin. “You can be quiet for me, right honey?” he asked. His eyes were always so soft looking, but the way they clouded with lust in that moment made it impossible for you to say no.
You nodded and Mika flashed a dazzling smile before return to work. He was back on his knees, crouching before you. He slipped down the fabric down your body, letting it pool at your feet. You didn’t miss the way he licked his lips before going in for your thighs.
He kissed there for awhile, alternating between each leg to get you extra needy. His teasing didn't last too long; he was just as eager to taste you as you were to feel him. You pressed your back against the wall as his lips found your core to keep yourself steady. Mika slung a leg over his shoulder to allow him better access to you.
“Fuck, Mika,” you half whispered hand moaned. Your hands tangled through his hair has licked circles around your clit. It felt so good you were almost trying to push him away, but Mika didn’t budge. He kept pressing his face into you, like he couldn’t get enough. It was all too much, the scratch of his beard against your inner thighs, his tongue moving expertly across you, and the sounds of him eating you out. A few moments later you were practically collapsing on top of him as you came.
“Fucking hell,” you said breathlessly as Mika finished you off. He stood back up, wiping off his chin and grinning widely.
“So you enjoyed yourself?” he smirked.
“That’s an understatement,” you replied, “Do you need...” your voice trailed off as you eye his pants.
Mika shook his head, “Today’s all about you. Speaking of which, we are buying all of this.” Mika stepped out to let you change. You laughed to yourself that he was just very intimate with your body and was now acting modest when you had to put your clothes back on.
You tried not to think about what you just did as the two of you brought the lingerie to the register because you were afraid they’d be able to see it on your face. If they had any inclination of what occurred in their dressing room, they weren't showing it. The rung up well over a months worth of rent in lingerie and Mika swiped his card without batting an eye.
“Thank you, Mika. Everything is beautiful, I appreciate it,” you replied as you walked back out on to the street, “And I cannot wait to wear it all for you.”
“Me too,” he smiled.
The two of you went around to a bunch of different stores, dropping more than you ever thought was possible in a single day. And that was with you being modest about what you wanted. You knew you could have picked out piles of clothes and Mika wouldn't have cared, but you weren't there yet.
“I've got one more place I wanna go,” Mika told you, taking your hand despite having all the bags on his arms. He refused to let you carry any of them. Mika led you towards a store with rich, red awnings that read Cartier.
You were immediately greeted by a salesperson, whisked away your bags so you could shop unencumbered. Rich people really were indulged. You walked around the glass-encased jewelry, which sparkled magnificently.
“So many pretty things to put on you,” Mika whispered over your shoulder. You giggled, leaning into the kiss he planted on your cheek.
“What a gorgeous couple,” a salesman noted, smiling brightly at the two of you, “Can I show you some pieces?”
“Please,” Mika replied. The man motioned for you to follow him, and you did, right to a velvet red chair at the end of the counter. He pulled out an array of options, each more impressive than the next.
You spent a decent amount of time trying different pieces on. At one point you thought you could have close to a hundred thousands worth of jewelry on. Mika loved every minute of it, of course. His favorites were always the necklaces, partly because he got to help you put those on, but mostly because he loved how the sparkled by your cleavage.
Everything was beautiful, but the last piece you tried on was your favorite. It was simple, to circles enclosed together, one dotted with diamonds around the entire circumference.
“That’s our Love necklace,” the salesman told you. That was fitting. You gave Mika a soft smile, and he knew that that was winner piece. Before Mika could tell him you’d take it, his phone rang.
He looked as his phone and a frown flashed across his face. “I’m so sorry, just excuse me for a second.”
“You're a lucky woman,” the salesman said when Mika was out of earshot. You smiled and nodded, watching Mika pace as he listened to the person on the other end. Something was up.
“You okay?” you asked when he finally returned.
“I’ve gotta go, Chris needs me,” he replied, trying to sound calm but their was an edge of nerves in his voice. That definitely freaked you out.
“Is everything okay?” you asked again.
Mika composed himself for you. “Yes, I’ll explain later,” Mika’s eyes darted to the salesman as if to say he couldn’t speak about it now, “I’ll send a car to take you home.”
“We aren't leaving together?”
“No, I need to get there right away,” Mika replied, tapping away at his phone. He turned to the salesman, “Can you hold some of these items for us? We’ll be back another day for them. And, here, for your discretion.” He tossed some hundreds down and the salesman nodded eagerly.
“My other driver isn’t answering and I don’t want you in a random Uber,” Mika frowned at his phone.
“Mika, I’ll be fine, okay? Take the car and get to wherever you need to go,” you told him.
“How will you get home?”
“This may shock you but below this city there are tons of trains under this city. I’ve heard you can use them to get around,” you joked.
The pulled a smile from him at least. “Never lose your attitude,” he grinned, before turning more serious, “Text me the second you get home. Or if you need anything at all. I’ll drop everything and come to you, okay?”
“Of course,” you replied, “Go do what you need to do and then we can try out some of these.” You tapped the bag from La Perla.
Mika smiled, “I can’t wait.” With that, he kissed your forehead and was gone.
You tried not to worry too much as you made your way home. Mika always handled his shit well, and you didn’t wanna make yourself crazy jumping to the most dangerous conclusion. Besides, you needed, to focus on getting home because now it was dark and you weren’t familiar with this part of town.
You tried to follow a shortcut, but realized you misread the map and didn’t know where you were. No reason to panic, you’ve gotten yourself lost more times than you could count and always made it out. But maybe this time if you hadn’t been so focused on finding your way, you would have noticed the guy who was tailing you since you walked out of Cartier. And maybe if you noticed that, it wouldn’t have been such a shock when the back of your head was hit hard, turning your whole world black.
