I'm not gonna lie, I don't know anything about Star Wars: The High Republic, the Era, or the characters. I haven't read books. All I know is that it's takes place about 400 years ago, WAY before Anakin is born. I'm gonna have to do research on this, I've been meaning to get into it.

Your Gideonposting has reminded me of the book "hold me closer necromancer" which I love for two reasons. 1. Every chapter title is a classic rock lyric and 2. Sasquatches live in hiding because they're so hot everyone's lust upon seeing them would destroy society
this is true about sasquatches in real life too

Hi, I was the one who gave the second chance triad suggestion. It actually is the plot of a novel I’m working on, I should’ve specified. I’m looking for prompts or suggestions about their relationship, dates, potential milestones, family reactions, that sort of thing, either during the HS era or when they reunite.
Ooh I see! I'm sorry for getting it wrong! My apologizes! Person A, B, and C are having a date in a café when a group of their classmates come in. When asked they play it off as a hangout. Person A, B, and C would slip love notes into each others lockers. One day someone finds it and asks them about it. B just says that they are just messing around. Someone in their school suspects of them dating and tries to reveal it to the school. Person A, B, and C come up with a cover up story to keep them off their backs. D (aka the person trying to reveal their relationship) doesn't believe them and continues to try and find out the truth. Back when they first started dating they were all scared of people finding out so they vowed to keep it a secret so they wouldn't get bullied or hurt. Once A, B, and C got more comfortable with their relationship they would find ways to show affection while at school. It became a competition between the three of them to see who could give the most amount of affection without being caught. This lead to many close calls. The first time they told someone else about their relationship they were so scared of being made fun of or bullied. But when that person accepted them and told them that they were so cute together they eased up. (Bonus Points if that person would try to help keep their relationship a secret) Once they realized that the only option was to break up they were all so sad because they truly loved each other. They all spent that night crying their hearts out. When they started dating again (as adults) A, B, and C were trying to find a way to tell their families that they were dating. (Bonus Points if their family already knew but said nothing about it. Extra Bonus Points if they all show up to each others family gatherings as a throuple)

I’ve been hearing about this established titles thing in scotland and am curious
but I’m wondering if there are any like social issues with it? I live in canada and know next to nothing about current social or political issues in scotland so I’m wondering if there’s anything I should know
like I know if the government did something like this in canada, that would be a huge issue because indigenous people are already fighting against colonialism and trying to reclaim land so this would be a huge slap in the face
so I’m just wondering if there’s something similar in scotland or anything else I should know

Grounded they say? Ok, here's a personal favourite of mine: Jason Dixon from Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri.
From his Wiki:
"Dixon is incredibly inept, lazy, and incompetent. Despite wanting everyone around him to respect his authority, he has no qualms with abusing his position of power to do what he wants. He is also openly racist, yet expresses great disdain when people call him out on it.
By the end of the film, he has a change of heart after receiving a letter from his former police chief reinforcing his desire to become a detective, going as far to instigate a fight and get mercilessly beaten in order to obtain a DNA sample of someone suspected of murdering the daughter of a woman he despises."
I love this character, because he is engaging and incredibly well acted. The audience, however, is largely composed by adults, that understand complex morality issues and don't see or divide the world in black or white. Discussing this character is pleasant among fans. Not to mention depicting these characters is very important to fight racism in the first place. I can't stress this enough.
I hope antis will understand this while growing up. It's harmful dividing the world in good and bad people only.
Tumblr media
That's interesting. o.O This is literally my first time even hearing about this character/movie, but you've piqued my interest. Thank you for bringing this up, I'm going to add this movie to my watchlist!
"The audience, however, is largely composed by adults, that understand complex morality issues and don't see or divide the world in black or white" & "Not to mention depicting these characters is very important to fight racism in the first place"
Totally, absolutely agree. The world isn't black and white, people aren't black and white, the decisions we make aren't always black and white. We are far more complex than that as human beings and living creatures on this planet. We shouldn't be reduced to just 'good' and 'bad'. It's impossible for one thing because our brains don't actually work like that in real life - we make decisions based on what's best for us and for the people around us, and not all those decisions are good unfortunately. And it's just really redundant, condescending to even assume that we can be sorted into good and bad, just like the students are sorted into different houses in the Harry Potter series. We're all grey characters in our lives, more or less. We make mistakes, bad decisions, hurt people around us, sometimes even ourselves. All we can do is try to learn from them and do better next time. But learning and improving isn't easy or even possible, if we're not even given the chance to learn and improve ourselves in the first place.
Which is why representation is so important. We can't deal with difficult things or even begin to understand them if they're always hidden in plain sight. It's like telling someone 'this is bad' and when you're being questioned about it, you start calling them stupid and accuse them of bad things. It doesn't work that way. The only way people can truly start processing things, understand them and maybe even learn something from them, is when they actually have to face them.
It's not gonna be pretty, it's not gonna be sugarcoated for you and it may not even have a happy ending. But that's reality. You can't just go around asking for representation and then start screaming and kicking around when it's not the kind of representation that you asked for. Racism imo is one of these things. It's a difficult, touchy subject in our current society. But if we don't actually talk about it, like proper grownups, instead of like bickering children, or keep skipping around the subject, completely avoiding it. Then guess what? Things won't change, ever. Nothing's gonna change. Because we aren't actually dealing with it, not in a healthy kind of way at least. Fighting doesn't solve it, avoiding doesn't solve it either. We need to find a common ground and actually talk about it. Like grownups. Try to understand each other, where it's coming from and can we do anything to change it or at least improve it. It's wishful thinking maybe, too idealistic perhaps. But I truly believe in facing the difficult things instead of just denying or avoiding them.
But. From what I've seen so far, it's largely the younger Stranger Things fanbase that participates and actively encourages this kind of cancel culture thing. I haven't met a whole lot of older fans who actually care about fictional characters enough to debate over them, let alone get themselves into fights over them. Most people at 25+ have way bigger issues in their lives; it only makes sense.
In my 30+ years of life, I have never ever needed to defend myself this hard for liking any fictional character - not until I got into the Stranger Things/Billy Hargrove fandom almost two years ago. I didn't even have to block anyone before (besides bots), even though I've stanned literal mass murderers (fictional) and other very problematic characters (again fictional). I didn't have to go to the fandom/shipping tags ready to block new people every time, when I went looking for something entirely different (and much more pleasant) things there. Never, not even once, had I people coming at me and accusing me of racism, pedophilia etc. etc., like actual serious crimes, because I liked the wrong fictional characters/ships.
And now? It's almost my daily life on Tumblr. It's pointless and so ridiculous. :D Because we're not even talking about real people here anymore; we're talking fictional characters. It feels absurd, surreal even.
I don't understand how and why we've come to this, but it's gotten completely out of hand. I'm sure we all have bigger things in our lives to worry about, than some problematic fictional rat boys with a mullet and wearing dangle earrings. <3

i love when words fit right. seize was always supposed to be that word, and so was jester. tuesday isn't quite right but thursday should be thursday, that's a good word for it. daisy has the perfect shape to it, almost like you're laughing when you say it; and tulip is correct most of the time. while keynote is fun to say, it's super wrong - i think they have to change the label for that one. but fox is spot-on.
most words are just, like, good enough, even if what they are describing is lovely. the night sky is a fine term for it but it isn't perfect the way november is the correct term for that month.
it's not just in english because in spanish the phrase eso si que es is correct, it should be that. sometimes other languages are also better than the english words, like how blue is sloped too far downwards but azul is perfect and hangs in the air like glitter. while butterfly is sweet, i think probably papillion is more correct, although for some butterflies féileacán is much better. year is fine but bliain is better. sometimes multiple languages got it right though, like how jueves and Πέμπτη are also the right names for thursday. maybe we as a species are just really good at naming thursdays.
and if we were really bored and had a moment and a picnic to split we could all sit down for a moment and sort out all the words that exist and find all the perfect words in every language. i would show you that while i like the word tree (it makes you smile to say it), i think arbor is correct. you could teach me from your language what words fit the right way, and that would be very exciting (exciting is not correct, it's just fine).
i think probably this is what was happening at the tower of babel, before the languages all got shifted across the world and smudged by the hand of god. by the way, hand isn't quite right, but i do like that the word god is only 3 letters, and that it is shaped like it is reflecting into itself, and that it kind of makes your mouth move into an echoing chapel when you cluck it. but the word god could also fit really well with a coathanger, and i can't explain that. i think donut has (weirdly) the same shape as a toothbrush, but we really got bagel right and i am really grateful for that.
grateful is close, but not like thunder. hopefully one day i am going to figure out how to shape the way i love my friends into a little ceramic (ceramic is very good, almost perfect) pot and when they hold it they can feel the weight of my care for them. they can put a plant in there. maybe a daisy.
