our advice from the past years is going to Just Cavalli in Milan on Thursday (or Friday) for a "happy hour" aperitivo about 19:00 (elegant or they don't let you enter, so Hamilton can't enter), usually there's a lot of good free food and beautiful women in a classy location (as Noel says : my Italian friends have beautiful women by their side... obviously not Liam full of ugly fangirls). If you want to have the chance to meet some drivers, Sunday night (there must be also time for Daniel Ricciardo 7 “best pizzas in the world” in a weekend, in the secret ristorante in Monza, we know which one ;-) and there’s also a big fair in town and various events (football games, meetings for autographs etc), dedicated to Formula1, also because it’s special 100th F1 MonzaGP
the smell of fuel, food and suntan cream... the sunrise, the atmosphere for the waiting, breathing history and being part of it

Grand Prix of Italy Preview
Mugello is a classic on the MotoGP schedule, with so many great races occurring in the past, and after a year out last year, the paddock cannot wait to be back!
Coming to Italy, off the back of 2 wins, Ducati will be the favourites for many people, and for good reason! Whilst the track is tight and twisty, the long straight really helps them to get to the front, and having won the last 3 races here, they could do it again. Miller, Bagnaia and Zarco are the ones to watch from this stable, currently the 2 factory riders are in the top 10 after FP2, with Zarco needing to find time to get in there! Bagnaia could be the favourite here, as may go all out just to win his home race!
The other team on form, is Yamaha, who really should have won all but 1 race so far this year if it was not for Fabio’s arm pump! Their bike is really the opposite of the Ducati, as it works well in the corners, however, it just lacks the straight line speed of other bikes. Straight out of the blocks today, both Quartararo and Vinales were quick, and sit well up the field. They may be favourites for pole, yet in the race, if other bikes can get ahead, it could be hard for them to pass them and pull away. I see them being in the top 5 at least, probably a podium. Morbidelli is doing his best on an old bike, not far off his teammates, showing he deserves better! As for Rossi, it is still looking difficult for him, despite finding some fixes in a post Jerez test, as he is nowhere near the top 10.
As this year goes on, KTM is getting better and better, mainly as they find fixes for the tyre issues they have. Binder especially has shown true pace at some tracks, with the potential to run in the top 5, however he has often made mistakes and crashed, which ruins KTM’s day, when he is the only one on pace! Olivera was able to put in a blistering lap today, well ahead of the other KTM’s, which could put him straight into Q2, given the pace we saw from everyone today. If Binder can learn from him, it could be a very good weekend for them!
It is hard to know where Suzuki will place here, as the rollercoaster turns may suit them, although much like the Yamaha’s, the pit straight could leave them exposed. The problem for the team, has been their mid to late race pace, which was their main strength last year! In 2020, they could make up for Saturday in the race, but they are finding it harder now, possibly due to the field as a whole improving year on year! Yet again, it is Rins higher up on the charts on a single lap, which is Mir’s big weakness. Can the team as a whole improve this weekend?
Honda is really settling into being a midpack team this year, as Marquez is not physically where he wants to be. The bike does not have any major strengths it seems, it is just solid in most areas. We saw some games being played between Pol and Marc in FP2, we know both drivers are not keen on the other, and want to be No.1 in the team. They need to work together if they want to bring the bike back to being a force in this series, like we saw in recent years.
The double DNF for Aprilia was very disappointing, with both bikes in the mix it could have been a great result in changeable conditions! Nevertheless, there continue to be positives to take out of each weekend for the team, as they keep reaching Q2 and getting top 10 finishes. It will be interesting to see what they can do once again here, on a track which is very tough on tyres!
Chances are this will be a pack race on Sunday, due to the strong slipstream along the front straight, as well as slower cars maybe being able to get up front and defend the lead! So, it could be chaos in the race, with so many riders having a shot at the win!

Grand Prix of Italy Review
It was a sombre day for the MotoGP paddock, following the death of Jason Dupasquier that morning. However, the show went on, in honour of him, and despite the race being a bit dull, we have much to talk about!
The only way to beat Yamaha and Quartararo this weekend, was to mess up his rhythm. So, when some big contenders lost out at the start, there was really no stopping the young Frenchman, as he stormed to another victory, getting stronger by the weekend! The surprising thing, was that he was the only Yamaha in the fight up front, with Vinales not able to show speed on Saturday in FP3, as he crashed, and then got involved in some shenanigans with Marquez in Q1, which cost Maverick a lot. He cannot blame Marc for missing the cut, as he should have finished the last lap, and reached Q2, but he did not, and starting 13th, his race was ruined! The older bike really hurt Morbidelli here, especially on the straights, and being caught in Marc’s crash cost him a chance of good points! For Rossi, the amount of big name crashes disguises the lack of pace we saw from him again, sadly this may be it for the GOAT!
This weekend shows, that when the tyres suit them, the KTM’s are fast! Both factory riders being in Q2 suggested it would be good, although I doubt we expected they would both finish in the top 5, with Olivera in 2nd. He was under pressure for most of the race, but was not exactly slow, and hopefully the team can learn a lot from the race. It was the start that won him the podium, as he went from 7th to 2nd! Binder did well, but will want to better his teammate next time! The Tech 3 boys also performed well, in 9th and 11th, both of them needed this boost, as they have really been backmarkers for most of the year so far! Going to Catalunya next, another tough track on tyres, there is hope for another strong team result for KTM!
Suzuki with Mir, yet again were solid but not spectacular, their race pace was probably the nearest to Fabio’s, the issue was just that they started so far back, and got caught up with the Ducati’s. I doubt they could have challenged for the win though, so they should be pleased, at least with the consistency. The problem may be this year, that it is not enough to just get many top 5s, and win the title, like last year. Riders like Miller and Quartararo are operating at such a high level, and Mir needs to find some more pace to get in the fight! Then we have Rins, who for the 4th race in a row, has crashed out, meaning he only finished in Qatar. It is simply not good enough for a rider of his quality, who is a proven race winner, and could be a title contender, both last year and this year, if he had tidied up his racing! He should have played it safe in the race, and just bagged some points, to start to mend the wounds of previous crashes, as it is though, he could be at serious risk of replacement if he is not careful!
We did not expect Ducati to be the 4th best bike in the race, however Bagnaia was their big hope, so when he crashed out early on, it was always going to be tough! It must hurt for him, as he would surely have got at least a podium at home, and if he had mucked around with Fabio enough, could have won! As it was though, the teams hopes rested with Zarco and Miller, who just did not have the same pace, although Zarco should be pleased to beat Miller, and be top Ducati. This race may have been a dent in the chances of a Ducati title, as they could have scored big points here against other teams!
As we have seen many times before this year, Aleix rode a brilliant race, to be well inside the top 10, and only 8 seconds of the win, 5 off a podium! The gap to his teammate is still large, although we are seeing slight improvements from Savadori!
For the best Honda rider to be in 12th, is a pretty bad day for the Japanese manufacturer! Nakagami and Marquez would likely have been higher up, however not by too much I guess, which shows the struggles the team is in. Marc admitted that this weekend was a test session to try and improve the bike, which emphasises the problems, both for himself and the team! The incident with Vinales in qualifying, shows the ruthlessness of Marc, and how he does not care about other riders, he just wants to win! Pol and Alex need to step up, to try and get on terms with their faster teammates!
Yamaha has dealt a blow to Ducati’s chances of a championship, as Fabio dominated here! Can they fight back in Spain? Can anyone else even hold a light to Quartararo or can Yamaha get their first title since 2015?
