2022年11月30日
The end of the year is looming, and with preparations for Christmas and the New Year comes thoughts of the JLPT for many. Good luck if you are taking it this year! I won't be taking it, but I am definitely already thinking about my goals for next year. This will be my last regular monthly update, as next month I will review my progress over this past year and talk about my goals for the next year! Let me know how you are doing with your goal progress too!
Tumblr media
My Goals at the Beginning of the Month
Spend at least 10 minutes per day studying Japanese
Reading practice daily (articles, manga, books)
Review 5 kanji a day
Active listening practice once a day
How I Studied This Month
Spent at least 10 minutes studying Japanese almost every day 〇
Read (article, manga, book) once a day 〇
Reviewed 5 kanji about once a week or so ✕
Actively listened to the news, a movie, or kids' shows every day 〇
〇 = completed, △ = partially completed, ✕ = did not complete
Primary Study Tools/Methods
Articles (NHK News Easy)
Manga (月刊少女野崎くん・Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun, おじさまと猫・A Man and His Cat)
Books (コンビニ人間・Convenience Store Woman)
Children's shows (いないいないばあっ!・おかあさんといっしょ・アンパンマン・ギョふんでサカナ★スター)
Netflix children's shows in Japanese
What Were My Strengths?
Reading - I was able to read short articles daily, and manga or books when I had a little extra time
Listening - I can fairly easily pick up the dialogue in the children's shows, although it does help that I watch the same shows over and over again (love that repetition), and I even learn stuff (animal names, various phrases, etc.)!
What Were My Weaknesses?
Kanji - I have been slacking off on my kanji -practice during the second half of the year so I'll need to find a way to reintegrate it into my daily study habits. I used to do flashcards daily, but I'd like to try to increase the number of new kanji I'm learning too
Writing - I haven't been writing much in Japanese either, and although it wasn't a goal, I find that the lack of practice shows
Other Study Methods I'd Like to Try
Writing Practice - I do occasionally write on tumblr, but I'd like to write more often, and if possible get it corrected
Workbook - I love using the 総まとめ (Sou-matome) series workbooks (vocabulary, grammar, kanji, listening) but I don't have much time to pull them out and sit down to work on them, but I'd like to do more workbook study if I can
Grammar - I enjoy the short grammar videos from 日本語の森 (Nihongo no Mori) and I would like to get back into watching these videos a few times a week (and taking notes)
Keigo - I'd like to work on learning formal Japanese better, to improve my speaking ability when in conversational situations
I always say that the most important thing to improve your Japanese (or any language or skill for that matter) is to practice daily. I think that having daily conversations at home in Japanese helps me a lot, but the extra effort I put into continuously studying and trying to stretch myself and learn more really does pay off. When I use a new vocabulary word that I've taken the time to internalize in front of a group of people, they don't even notice the huge accomplishment it is for me, but I feel quite proud of myself when I can seamlessly communicate with native speakers for a majority of the time. When I learn something new about an animal and can communicate it to my son in Japanese, I feel excited about learning new things. When I can read and understand a whole sentence without looking up a single kanji or word (even if I'm guessing at some of the meanings), I feel quite pleased with myself.
Taking a look back at the time and effort I put in to my studies, I think that these small wins should be great sources of pride (for myself and for you too!). What are the things that you notice about your own Japanese progress?

Introvert: She is not very disposed to the social life, preferring a good glass of wine in front of the fireplace in her home rather than the hectic life as a social butterfly, however doing her job as a secret agent she is very good at being able to hide her character, becoming the most social person in this world and using her manipulative techniques to get to the goal.
International Relations ability: Having a degree in international relations Eden was always sent by MI6 to a variety of places around the world to negotiate, interrogate, and even kill enemies who threatened the British government despite being very young, thanks in part to the help of her grandmother Helen, who instructed her on how to become the perfect agent.
Sarcasm: If there is one thing Eden specializes in it is finding sarcasm in situations even where it is the last thing a person might think of (ask Ghost during their mission in Russia just to give an example)
Camouflage: Being a spy Eden is capable depending on the situation that requires her to perfectly disguise herself in the role during the mission.

FUN FACTS
•She studied in Italy under the false name of Selene Mastroianni until she finished high school linguistics (in Italy it ends around age 18) because her grandmother Helen being a 'secret agent' wanted her to study away from England.
•When she was sixteen she decided to shave her head to zero because she thought it was cool and played in a punk band.
•Her first tattoo, a small flower on her groin, was done when she was 17 illegally by a tattoo artist friend of hers.
•Eden has a scar on her belly, at the level of her uterus caused during a mission in South America
•Eden listens to various genres of music but the ones she likes best are grunge, punk, black metal, shoegaze and gothic.
Every weekend when there is visitation day at the nursing home for the elderly where Grandma Helen lives Eden happened to find Simon there playing chess with her grandmother and drinking some excellent black tea.
Eden tends to burn easily in the sun; in fact, one of the things she does in her routine is to put on sunscreen, even in the winter because her skin is so delicate that it quickly turns red.
Other habits Eden has are to bite her lips often, walk back and forth in tense situations, and carry a stress ball to avoid going into outburst.
Background Story/Biography
Eden was born in Birmingham in the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Soon after her birth her father Andrew and mother Anna moved to Bexley to be closer to Eden's grandmother, the legendary Helen Park. There Eden spends the early part of her childhood, although her mother began to bear a grudge against her and treat her badly.
Since she was little, Eden has always wanted to discover the world, also thanks to the passionate stories of her father Andrew, a well-known English poet and professor. However, one evening, while they were all in bed apart from her grandmother Helen, on a business trip a fire broke out in their residence due to her mother, who had now fallen into the abyss of alcohol after being fired from MI6 which cost the life of her father. From that moment on, Eden's resentment towards her mother grew even more and without a chance for forgiveness, their destructive relationship led Eden's grandmother to ask for custody of her granddaughter.
When she turned 14, her grandmother Helen had her enrolled in a well-known linguistic high school in Rome, where she met her best friend Chloe Valentine. Those years were full of rebellion for her but also of so much freedom that then made her mature as a person.
At 18 she returned to England where, with great commitment, she managed to obtain a bachelor degree in international relations resulting in a master's degree in languages at the University of Oxford at the age of 26 and at the same time began training in MI6, despite her grandmother being against it.
In a short time, Eden managed to make a name for herself within the famous English spy agency, being nicknamed Spectra because she left no trace of herself in her missions.
One day, in January 2019 her grandmother Helen ordered her to investigate a group of Russian ultranationalists with the collaboration of Kate Laswell, Station Chief of the CIA and Herschel Shepherd, general of the US Navy. After that mission, Helen would retire, after many years of work within MI6.
With the orders received Eden reached Russia, where she managed to intercept through some informants that there is a known chemical gas compound that could be launched in Urzikistan. The mission was also in collaboration with the SAS, which had sent its best man: Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley. The information should have been extorted from a well-known former Specnaz who ran a club in the city of St. Petersburg. The two together managed to infiltrate the club, posing as a couple there to have fun and capture the target after a very violent scuffle with his henchmen , after hours and hours Eden and Ghost managed to get information about the cargo. With the available information Eden is reached by Alex Keller, who manages to intercept the compound but he is attacked by a group of unknown enemies. She will come to discover that the cargo had been transported to a different area and that Kulikov had been used as a red herring to allow the enemy to hide the material and take time.
Between Modern Warfare I and Modern Warfare II
Eden was sent to Verbansk in late March 2019 to investigate a threat from a Russian ultra-nationalist group whose leader was Vladimir Makarov together with Ghost. The two, recovering information, managed to intercept a coded message in which they spoke of a terrorist attack within the next few days.
Modern Warfare II
The relationship between Eden and Ghost during this period is full of ups and downs, especially when Eden learns that Ghost has been sent by Sheperd and Laswell on a mission to Al Mazrah working with the Shadow Company. Eden does not trust Commander Graves and warns Ghost of the danger of the mission, but her grandmother persuades her by saying that they have a common goal: to stop Hassan Zyani, heir to General Ghorbrani who may pose a threat to the entire world.
I'm not very good at creating bios but I hope it was done well😭, it took me a whole day to make it and I hope you like it

TOKYO, Sept 7 (Reuters) - Japan launched its lunar exploration spacecraft on Thursday aboard a homegrown H-IIA rocket, hoping to become the world's fifth country to land on the moon early next year.
Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) said the rocket took off from Tanegashima Space Center in southern Japan as planned and successfully released the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM).
Unfavourable weather led to three postponements in a week last month.
Dubbed the "moon sniper," Japan aims to land SLIM within 100 metres of its target site on the lunar surface.
The $100-million mission is expected to start the landing by February after a long, fuel-efficient approach trajectory.
"The big objective of SLIM is to prove the high-accuracy landing ... to achieve 'landing where we want' on the lunar surface, rather than 'landing where we can'," JAXA President Hiroshi Yamakawa told a news conference.
Tumblr media
The launch comes two weeks after India became the fourth nation to successfully land a spacecraft on the moon with its Chandrayaan-3 mission to the unexplored lunar south pole.
Around the same time, Russia's Luna-25 lander crashed while approaching the moon.
Two earlier lunar landing attempts by Japan failed in the last year.
JAXA lost contact with the OMOTENASHI lander and scrubbed an attempted landing in November.
The Hakuto-R Mission 1 lander, made by Japanese startup ispace (9348.T), crashed in April as it attempted to descend to the lunar surface.
Tumblr media
SLIM is set to touch down on the near side of the moon close to Mare Nectaris, a lunar sea that, viewed from Earth, appears as a dark spot.
Its primary goal is to test advanced optical and image processing technology.
After landing, the craft aims to analyse the composition of olivine rocks near the sites in search of clues about the origin of the moon. No lunar rover is loaded on SLIM.
Thursday's H-IIA rocket also carried the X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission (XRISM) satellite, a joint project of JAXA, NASA and the European Space Agency.
The satellite aims to observe plasma winds flowing through the universe that scientists see as key to helping understand the evolution of stars and galaxies.
Tumblr media
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (7011.T) manufactured the rocket and operated the launch, which marked the 47th H-IIA rocket Japan has launched since 2001, bringing the vehicle's success rate close to 98%.
JAXA had suspended the launch of H-IIA carrying SLIM for several months while it investigated the failure of its new medium-lift H3 rocket during its debut in March.
Japan's space missions have faced other recent setbacks, with the launch failure of the Epsilon small rocket in October 2022, followed by an engine explosion during a test in July.
The country aims to send an astronaut to the moon's surface in the latter half of the 2020s as part of NASA's Artemis programme.

While its still March, let me introduce to my little bug babies from my crossover fic, Kamen Rider Thunderbirds X3 (yes I noticed the watermark is from 2022 since I made those pictures during November. But now I have the time to show them off XD)

Yuuki Tsugami (Kamen Rider Agito)- The brave and kind young man with psychic powers. Much like his father, he’s really good at committing to his double-life role, to the point that most people (aside of his friends) could not distinguish from his silent, noble warrior of Agito to his happy-go-lucky, pun-loving guy personas. The first to jump into battle when monsters are in the vicinity.
Taira Kaoru (Kamen Rider Kuuga)- The optimist with nearly 2000 skills, with the goal of giving people smiles. He’s the go-to guy when his friends needed comfort and getting the spirits up. While he despises the use of violence, he feels it is a necessity to stop monsters from causing harm.
Koji Sumiko (Kamen Rider G3-X)- A half-Japanese and half-British ex-cop, who is a smart and courageous badass. When his mind is put into work, he’s a serious hacker, operator and fighter. When off duty, he’s laidback, chill (most of the time) and the type to crack a good joke or two. Though, he does get irritated when there’s chaos in the room, sometimes.
Recko Ashihara (Kamen Rider Gills)- The serious one and the “Reality Hammer” of the group. Although he has trust issues with people, he always follows his friends and not afraid to speak the truth when he feels the situation needs it. He also has a low-content woldog companion named Raider.
Tensai Kiryu (Kamen Rider Build)- The eccentric narcissist but good hearted genius of the Rider gang. While his ways of invention and problem solving could be described as chaotic and he’s a certified troll, he will do anything to keep his friends and everyone around him safe and kick some baddies’ ass for Love and Peace.
Sakiko Hino (Kamen Rider OOO)- The “big sister” and the voice of reason. Sweet and fierce, her love for adventure and her deep caring for her friends made her the person that keeps everything together when times go sore. She got super-strength that she had inherited from her grandmother, which she’s a bit embarrassed about it.
Leo Hidari and Soren (Kamen Rider W)- Two in one Rider, a pair of expert detectives from an obscure Japanese city of Fuuto. While Leo is the resident half-boiled drama queen of the group, his compassion and empathy is essential when faced with the criminals he arrests. Soren is his close partner with mysterious wind powers, who is an oblivious nerd, but very helpful when it comes to find important information.
Akira Hiden (Kamen Rider Zero One)- The youngest of the group and the CEO of an android company of his family heritage, Hiden Intelligence. Cheerful, caring and humble, he’s the type who tries his best to support his friends no matter how dire the situation is. Even when cracking one of his many terrible puns. He has a sentient android secretary named Izu, who accompanies him and act as his close support.

Language report for August 2022. I’ve shifted my focus back to Norwegian because I want to get myself as prepped for the Bergenstest as possible, so my Japanese is mostly going to be maintaining/making slow progress for the next two months. But then I intend to get intense with it in November/December so that by the time I actually get there I feel semi-comfortable with the basics. My goal is to be comfortably N5/making good progress towards N4 by the time I arrive in Japan!

My #1 post of 2022
Endeavor’s (potential) death and Bojack Horseman
SPOILERS FOR MY HERO ACADEMIA CHAPTER 350//
So seeing a lot of discussion about Endeavor and what he deserves - should he die, should he be in jail etc. And honestly I’m ruling out him going to jail since japanese cultural norms don’t seem to see familial abuse as a going-to-jail crime (still pretty nasty though) and none of his family have brought it up (I also think it wouldn’t be the right thing for his family anyway for reasons I’ll get to later).
So, death.
I think if he does die it won’t be from Touya killing him. Enji is too much of a focus character to be killed like that, and it would represent the “failure” of his character arc. He’s a man who wants to redeem himself from his failure as a father, and the biggest failure is his neglect of Touya leading him to plot to kill him. For both Touya and Enji’s character arcs to end in “success”, Touya can’t succeed in his villainous goals. Touya himself can’t die either (because he WANTS to die) so lets rule out any murder-suicides.
So, if Enji does die, it would be in saving his children. And I think the child he has to save primarily is Touya. He looked away from Touya 10 years ago, so he has to look at him now (even though the plot currently has him far away from Touya there’s enough highlighting of this fact to know it will be corrected at some point). I’ve seen some people suggesting (mostly on reddit) that he’ll die saving Shoto from Touya but that wouldn’t be a “success” - it’ll just be seen by Touya as him putting Shoto above him. So while he can save Shoto, he has to save Touya as well.
And this would be a “success” for his character arc and Touya’s character arc in many ways (and Shoto to a lesser extent but I feel like Shoto’s arc with Enji is different and mostly resolved at this point)! He would show in one great act that he can put his children’s lives above his (his original sin being putting his own ambitions over the welfare of his children) and it would match the foreshadowing of his dream where his family are eating happily around the table but he isn’t there with them,
BUT! I don’t think this would be the best resolution, and this is where Bojack Horseman comes in.
So for people who don’t know, Bojack Horseman is an adult cartoon about a depressed alcoholic horse (sounds weird but it’s actually really good)
SPOILERS FOR BOJACK HORSEMAN
So, both Bojack and his best friend Diane have abusive parents - for Bojack, his mother, for Diane, her father. And over the series both parents die. And there’s one episode, Free Churro, where Bojack attends his mothers funeral and gives a eulogy (its a great episode and can be watched standalone).
And one of the great things about the episode is it addresses the difficulty in mourning an abusive parent. Bojack talks about Diane’s father, how she felt sad when he died even though “she never even liked the guy” because it meant the chance of him ever being a good father was gone forever. Bojack himself talks about how on her deathbed his mother looked at him and said “I see you” - and those words both made him very happy but also very angry. Because his mother finally acknowledged him, but at the same time she waited until the last moment to do it. He realised she could have done that the entire time, but didn’t, which meant she actively chose to be a bad mother his entire life until then.
And going back to MHA, I think this is where the issue with Enji dying as a “solution” comes. Because his whole character arc is him realising he could have been a good father the entire time, but put his ambition first every time. So him “Seeing” Touya and then promptly biting it- no, it doesn’t work, and leaves a hole in the Todoroki family. Because despite Enji thinking that the only way to atone is to seperate from his family, that isn’t the real solution. Obviously he needs to give his family freedom and space - Natsuo for example doesn’t want anything to do with his dad. But on the other hand as Rei said, “running away” was his sin. He needs to be their for his family, and ESPECIALLY Touya. He doesn’t get to run away this time, especially not by dying.

Monthly reading summary for November! Also finished up the "Read every day challenge Fall 2022" on the wanikani forums today. Managed to read at least 1 chapter of manga every day for all 61 days of the challenge! (I actually started early, so today was day 72 for my reading streak) Still going strong, no plans to stop now.
Japanese goals for December are mostly in-line with what I've been doing: read at least one chapter of manga per day and enjoy what I'm reading. The only thing I'm adding is that I'm going to start reading one NHK easy article per day, to try to get some variety in style and formality levels (eventually I want that to turn into harder non-fiction: japanese wikipedia/actual news, but gotta start somewhere) I think finishing ホリミヤ before the end of December is a reasonable stretch goal, so I'll be shooting for that.
Read:
よつばと!chapter 23 - this was the first chapter I read during the fall challenge, and at the time I considered it to be the hardest chapter of the series that I’d read so far. I thought it would be fun to go back and do a direct comparison after an extra 2 months of extensive reading. Now I’d say it’s definitely easier than most of what I’m reading. Grammar is noticeably simpler, and I picked up on some parts of the conversation that totally went over my head 2 months ago. In short: remarkable improvements! Good Words: 養殖 「ようしょく」 ー aquaculture 飲み込む 「のみこむ」 ー to swallow, to gulp down
ホリミヤ chapter 14 - Good Words: 無断 「むだん」 ー without permission 拍子 「ひょうし」 ー tempo, beat, rhythm (here metaphorically) 塞がる 「ふさがる」 ー to be closed up, to be healed
Watched/Listened:
Tips for Beginners #1-4 (Shogi Harbor) - some good eng introductory shogi strategy and tactics stuff. Liking this channel a lot. Almost all the high level shogi resources are in japanese, so it's good to learn some vocab while also learning the game (I also want to read 3月のリオン so i need to know some of these lmao) Shogi Words: 穴熊囲い 「あなぐまがこい」 - bear in hole, badger in hole, defensive castle structure

I’M GOING TO JAPAN
AFTER 7 YEARS SINCE MY LAST VISIT.
AFTER 5 YEARS OF NOT TRAVELLING.
.
.
.
On Friday.
For two days.
It was kinda of an impulse trip after realising that there was still 6 months or half a year (I’m dying to travel) till my plan of visiting Japan in April next year at work and at night, after some considerable consideration, I booked a flight. .-.
Reason of going for only two days was because I do not have any leave I can take being an intern now and other than my two main purposes, I can’t fit my other goals into this trip now, like visiting related historical sites of shinsengumi. It will span into a two weeks trip at least 😂
Also.. my two main purposes of visiting Japan is...
Firstly... To visit Hijikata Toshizou Museum
Before it closes for an unknown period of time.  (。•́︿•̀。)
Tumblr media
It had to be this weekend as the museum only opens on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of every month or in this case, as it is closing, the museum has extended the opening hours and days to earlier and on Saturdays as well. Its last opening weekend is on the 12 and 13 of November.
Secondly, to visit the Shinsengumi Exhibition 2022!
Tumblr media
They have two venues ― the first one was held at Fukushima Prefectural Museum and the second one and last one is currently being held at The Museum of Kyoto, till 27 November this year.
I have no idea if this was the first ever exhibition of shinsengumi or will there ever be another one again.
So.... all the more for me to visit Japan and this two places right? RIGHT?
I actually booked the flight on 4 Oct and have been preparing for the trip like the entry procedures in Japan, what to bring, what to expect at the museum and exhibition and of course my Japanese skills...   (→_→)
This is gonna be so exciting and nerve-racking but not anyone is able to do this, not even Japanese shinsengumi fans due to their infamous working hours and not anyone is as crazy as me so I’m gonna enjoy what I can!  („• ᴗ •„)

Honda logos return to Red Bulls two teams for rest of F1 season | 2022 Japanese Grand Prix
Honda’s logos will return to Red Bull and AlphaTauri’s cars for the rest of 2022, beginning with this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka. The automotive brand announced its departure from Formula 1 two years ago last Sunday. Its deal to supply engines to Red Bull’s two teams ended when the 2021 season concluded. Honda then entered an agreement in which the new Red Bull Powertrains division operated its power units this season before Red Bull took engine design, build and operation fully in-house. However, two months ago Honda Racing Corporation extended its engine support deal to cover a further two seasons before the current V6 hybrid turbo power unit regulations are replaced in 2026. Throughout this period, these engines are officially badged as Red Bull units. But ahead of Honda’s home race, at a circuit it owns, an updated agreement has been put into action. While both teams cars have carried HRC logos since the season began, the Honda logo will return to Red Bull and AlphaTauri’s cars for the first time since the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix this weekend. The teams issued images of how the updated branding will appear. As part of the enhanced agreement between the team and manufacturer, Red Bull driver Sergio Perez will join the likes of Indianapolis 500 winner Takuma Sato and Super Formula star Toshiki Oyu as a lecturer at the Suzuka-based Honda Racing School in a new ambassadorial role. He and his Red Bull F1 stablemates will attend the annual HRC Thanks Day on November 27, one week after the end of a season which is likely to see the team and Max Verstappen claim the championship trophies. “Honda has invested significantly in hybrid technology over the course of our partnership. This has ensured the supply of competitive power units to both teams, for which we are very grateful,” said Red Bull team principal Christian Horner. Advert | Become a RaceFans supporter and go ad-free “Our combined goal is to continue to deliver dominant engines and achieve the most success possible in the following three years. To mark this, we look forward to welcoming the Honda logo back on to the car from Suzuka onwards.” Red Bull motorsport consultant Helmut Marko said the team is “going from strength to strength with the technical support from HRC until the next generation of engines are introduced in 2026.” “We are confident this relationship with HRC will set us up for more success in the future and thank them for their ongoing support,” he added. Last month Red Bull confirmed it had ceased discussions with Porsche over a potential tie-up with the manufacturer when F1’s new power unit rules are introduced in four years’ time. Horner previously indicated the team is open to working more closely with Honda providing it “fits with the long-term strategy of the team”, which intends to build its own power units in-house at its Milton Keynes base. Fall is in the air and it's a cozy time to study Japanese. It's also a time of the year that marks the busy season for students and employees alike. This fall I have been focusing on reading, trying to read anything and everything, and focusing on retaining things like vocabulary and kanji from these readings.
Tumblr media
What I've Been Reading This Month
夜カフェ (Yoru Cafe) - A chapter book aimed at children, with the characters being around middle school age. Cute and heartwarming, but with a very slow pace, this is the first book in a series.
月刊少女野崎くん (Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun) - A manga about a male high school student who illustrates girls' manga, his female classmate and fan, and all the other characters around him that he inserts into his work.
おじさまと猫 (A Man and His Cat) - A manga about an older man and the cat he adopts. Funny but with plenty of tear-jerking moments, this is a fast and adorable read.
NHK News Web Easy - Quick, easy-to-read articles designed for language learners and school kids to read. You can turn on/off ふりがな and the articles include up-to-date news information.
NHKニュース - The regular NHK news site, for when I have some more time, to read more in-depth articles for a Japanese audience.
絵本 (picture books) - Reading picture books with my son is a great way to practice 1) reading walls of hiragana, 2) reading aloud, 3) daily words with my son.
にほんごたどく (Tadoku Graded Readers) - A treasure trove of free graded readers for beginners and those who want to practice reading in Japanese. (Might I particularly recommend デカりんご).
Other Study Tools I Used This Month
renshuu.org - Kanji & vocabulary quizzes
Jisho.org - English/Japanese Dictionary (one of the most used dictionaries)
weblio - Japanese-Japanese Dictionary
言葉で遊ぼう (Kotoba de Asobo) - Japanese Wordle
Japanese podcasts
Things to Try Next Month
I spent October working on reading, and trying to focus on attaining new vocabulary and kanji knowledge at the same time. So in November, I'd like to focus on a different aspect of Japanese learning. I would like to get back into grammar, reviewing and learning new grammar points.
Handbook of Japanese Grammar - A grammar learning resource, separated by each grammar point.
日本語の森 (Nihongo no Mori) - Grammar videos separated by level, short and sweet for review or learning new grammar.
As the year comes to an end I will be looking back at how I started this monthly diary of my Japanese studies, and where I am now. I would like to review my goals and renew them. Have some of them changed? Definitely! Have some of them remained unfulfilled? Most certainly. But that is a natural part of the language learning process, and the changes in my goals reflect the changes in my priorities and the evolution of my knowledge of the language. So look forward to that in the next update!
Thanks as always for reading!

THIS JUST IN: Ash Ketchum will continue in Generation 9 and was in the works possibly for Season 26, says the President of TXN Network
TOKYO, JAPAN -- His own journey from the start, out of Pallet Town in Kanto Region as Ash Ketchum will soon to end in Anime for Pokémon: The Series in Japan, which is nearly close to the finale of Season 25 known as "Ultimate Journeys".
This was after 2 individual champions between the League Conference per Regional Champion in Sun & Moon and a new Galarnian Masters Tournament Champion of Pokémon World Coronation Series (PWCS) in Ultimate Journeys.
In an exclusive press conference held by JOTX-TV 7's TV Tokyo as Toshiyuki Hiroaka, general manager of the animation business division of the said Japanese TV station and Ichiro Ishikawa, who was a president of TXN Network (a flagship station of TV Tokyo) talks about Ash Ketchum becoming the Pokémon world champion after 25 years of the Anime airing.
Ishikawa was a little bit shy to comment about an Anime character at first, but later congratulated Ketchum on becoming both the said champion: "I heard that fans from all over the world congratulated Ash Ketchum (Satoshi) for winning the championship this time. We are very happy to see Satoshi’s achievement, and we would like to congratulate him as well", he said in a translative Japanese dialect.
Hiroaka on the other hand, talked about what the future holds for Ketchum and where he will go from this point. Talking at the press conference, he said that Ketchum’s adventure will continue in Generation 9 and the future will unfold in the upcoming episodes of Season 26 the said Anime: "It has taken 25 years for Satoshi to become the World Champion, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds for him. The adventures will continue, and we will be providing information on how Satoshi’s future story will unfold in the upcoming TV anime, so I hope you will enjoy it".
Hiroaka said in a press conference, time-skipping is possible for Season 26 in connection for a video game franchise of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. It is a total risky decision that The Pokémon Company could do is they could introduce a brand-new Anime character into the said series. Radyo Bandera cannot independently verify its said report.
Ketchum's Pokémon starters have not been announced yet since the 26th Season of the Anime is currently in the works sometime in 2023 onwards. With just 2 episodes left in Ultimate Journeys and Ketchum now finally succeeding, it looks like that might change a bit sooner than quicker before the year-end of 2022.

If Ketchum grows up in the hypothetical timeskip per later episodes in Season 26... Generation 9 will continue somewhere in Paldea Region with some countless battles in history. Reuniting with friends like Serena and Lillie for example, is mostly optional if needed to.
However, if Goh replaces to Ketchum and exits the Anime character permanently in concluding rotation, he is in part ways to bid farewell and focusing to catch a Mew Pokémon in a toughest future project. Ketchum is more likely to be retired and getting married to Serena afterwards in chemistry of love for AmourShipping.
Ketchum finally achieved his goal of becoming the world’s greatest Pokémon trainer in a recent episode of "Ultimate Journeys" which premiered in Japan in mid-November 2022 ahead of the production of English Dubbed via Netflix airing in the United States of America (U.S.A.).
Pokémon anime was first premiered in Season 1 via JOTX-TV 7's TV Tokyo in April 1997, part all of the affiliates nationwide on the TXN Network. The anime franchise has 7 sequential series, all based on an installation of the said video game. Ultimate Journeys' is the 25th and current season of the Pokémon anime series, and the 3rd and final season of Pokémon Journeys.
Tumblr media
Nonetheless, the management and staff of TXN Network continues more to air in Pokémon anime by preserving the next generation of youths, teens and mostly adults to watch. Pokémon fans are about to see by bidding farewell or to stay with Ketchum in later episodes of Season 26. The 25th season finale of Pokémon: The Series - Ultimate Journeys airs every Friday night at 6:55pm in Japan / 5:55pm in Manila / 4:55am Eastern / 3:55am Central (in the U.S.A.) only on JOTX-TV 7's TV Tokyo. Netflix bought its rights to cover and to stream the latest season of English Dub in America.

NASA’s flagship Artemis I mission has flown past the moon
After blasting off on the enormous Space Launch System rocket, NASA’s Orion capsule has flown within 130 kilometres of the lunar surface as it prepares to enter orbit
Space 21 November 2022
By Leah Crane

NASA’s Artemis I mission has made a close approach to the moon, flying within 130 kilometres above the farside of the lunar surface on 21 November.
The Orion capsule blasted off on top of the enormous Space Launch System (SLS) rocket, the most powerful ever launched, on 16 November. After years of delays and several missed launch opportunities this year thwarted by hydrogen leaks, technical issues and, most recently, a hurricane that SLS weathered on the launchpad at Cape Canaveral in Florida, the lift-off went astonishingly smoothly.
“It was surprising to me that it went without a hitch,” says space analyst Laura Forczyk. “I mean, there were small hitches, but it didn’t explode!” The biggest of those hitches was a set of loose bolts that a team was sent out to the launchpad shortly before launch to tighten – it is extraordinarily rare to see anyone working on rocket hardware so close to lift-off.
Orion is expected to enter orbit around the moon on 25 November. Then, after six days in orbit, it has got to come back – a part of the mission that is just as crucial as the launch itself. It is expected to return to Earth on 11 December.
“Bringing Orion back is going to be as big a challenge as getting off the Earth,” NASA associate administrator Thomas Zurbuchen told New Scientist. “The risks just add up… The mission is only over once Orion is down safely here.” Only then can it be considered safe enough to put humans aboard, which is the goal of the Artemis II mission, currently planned for 2024.
For that mission, NASA will have to be even more careful. “Humans are needy creatures,” says Emily Judd at NASA’s Langley Research Center in Virginia. “We have to have the oxygen to breathe, we need food, all of the life-support systems that are required – part of Artemis I is testing out those systems, making sure that everything is ready for the crew when they go up on Artemis II.”
While Artemis I’s main purpose is to test the SLS and Orion spacecraft ahead of Artemis II, which will see a crewed Orion perform a lunar flyby, there are some other scientific goals as well. SLS carried 10 cubesats, which are small satellites weighing only about 11 kilograms each, and released them into space hours after the launch.
Four of the cubesats are designed to study the moon, including a Japanese experiment called Omotenashi, which is intended to perform a soft landing on the moon’s surface. This would make Japan only the fourth nation to do so, and with the smallest lunar lander ever. However, Omotenashi appears to be tumbling in space, which might prevent it from landing.

Three of the cubesats are intended to study radiation in space. Another, called NEA Scout, will fly via solar sail to a nearby asteroid, while the remaining two are technology demonstrations for improved methods of deep-space propulsion. According to a NASA press conference on 18 November, five of the 10 cubesats are currently functioning as expected, while the other five are experiencing either technical issues or are unable to communicate with their operators on Earth.
Artemis I is building to the Artemis III mission, which is intended to take astronauts to the moon’s surface for the first time since Apollo 17 in 1972 – and inform future scientific study. “We have barely touched the surface of what we can learn – yes, about the moon, but also about Earth and about how we can survive on Mars,” says Forczyk. “The moon is the stepping stone to the solar system.”

Suzume no Tojimari
Wellcome friends in this article I am covering The Anime Series NamedSuzume no Tojimarifeel free to read this article and don't forget to press the follow button.
While going to class one day, Suzume Iwato incidentally finds Souta Munakata, a youthful individual searching for abandoned locales. The optional school young woman organizes Souta to a nearby ruin, `but out of pure interest, she decides to go to a comparable goal.
At that point when there, Suzume finds a separate doorway with a deceptive universe lying past it — a spot that she can see and feel, but not enter. A bizarre stone lies on the ground nearby, yet it changes into a catlike like creature and takes off when Suzume lifts it. All of a sudden fearful, she rushes toward her school, not understanding that her show of leaving the doorway open will have results.
With the "foundation" conveyed, the insidious inside the other universe can now uninhibitedly escape and release ruin all through Japan. Expecting to address her dangerous blunder, Suzume joins Souta — whose real goal is to hold fiendish back from spoiling — in finding and locking all entrances before the country is obliterated.
Suzume (Japanese: すずめの戸締まり, Hepburn: Suzume no Tojimari, lit. "Suzume's Securing") is a 2022 Japanese vivified dream experience movie composed and coordinated by Makoto Shinkai, created by CoMix Wave Movies, and disseminated by Toho. The movie includes the voices of Nanoka Hara and Hokuto Matsumura, with the person plans by Masayoshi Tanaka, movement heading by Kenichi Tsuchiya, craftsmanship bearing by Takumi Tanji, and music by Radwimps and Kazuma Jinnouchi. Suzume is Shinkai's third joint effort with Radwimps and Tanaka, after Your Name (2016) and Enduring with You (2019), and was propelled by the Tōhoku tremor and tidal wave. The film follows 17-year-old secondary school understudies Suzume Iwato and Souta Munakata, who collaborate to forestall a progression of fiascos across Japan.
The film started its creation in mid-2020, in the long run being declared as finished by October 2022. A clever transformation, likewise composed by Shinkai, and a manga series shown by Denki Amashima both appeared preceding the film's delivery.
Suzume previously debuted in IMAX in Japan on November 7, 2022, and was dramatically delivered cross-country on November 11; it was delivered globally across 2023 by Crunchyroll, Sony Pictures Delivering (under the Sony Pictures Delivering Worldwide pennant), and Wild Bundle Global. The film got positive surveys from pundits, with acclaim for its activity, characters, profound weight, and music, albeit a few commentators condemned the plot for being fundamentally like Shinkai's past movies. It has netted $298.3 million around the world, turning into the fourth-most elevated earning film of 2022 in Japan and the fourth-most elevated netting Japanese film ever.
Story Line
Suzume Iwato is a 17-year-old secondary school young lady who lives with her auntie in Kyushu. One evening, she fantasizes about looking for her mom as a youngster in a demolished area. The following morning, while setting out toward school, Suzume experiences a young fellow looking for deserted regions with entryways. She enlightens him regarding an old onsen resort close by, then follows the man herself to the hotel. Suzume finds an entryway remaining solitary on its edge, which shows a twilight field through the entryway, however, she can't enter it. She gets a feline sculpture which turns into a genuine feline and escapes. Terrified, she goes to class. At noon, Suzume sees a burst-like section emerging from the site of the onsen that no other individual can see. Returning there, she tracks down the man from previously, attempting to close the entryway. Seeing him battle and get harmed, Suzume hurries to help. They effectively close the entryway and the red section vanishes, yet not before colliding imperceptibly with the town and causing quakes like harm.
Suzume takes the man, Souta Munakata, to her home to gauze his injury. He makes sense of that he traversed Japan, finding and securing entryways in deserted spots to forestall a monster otherworldly "worm" from causing seismic tremors. The feline from the hotel shows up and transforms Souta into the kid's seat he was perched on. Souta, presently a three-legged seat, pursues the feline to a ship set out toward Ehime with Suzume following. He portrays the feline as a cornerstone, and that the worm was left after its evacuation out of close to the neglected entryway.
At Ehime, the pair use signs via web-based entertainment from local people who have captured the feline and named it "Daijin" to follow it across Shikoku. With the assistance of neighborhood inhabitant Chika, they track down the worm and close its entryway of section at an unwanted school. Following Daijin's path to Kobe because of Rumi, a neighborhood bar proprietor, the pair experience the worm reappearing at an unwanted entertainment mecca. Sōta requests that Daijin turn around into a cornerstone, however, he declines, needing to "play" with Suzume. She and Sōta lock the worm's entrance. Sōta makes sense of the entrance prompts the Always After where spirits pursue demise. As they go through the night at Rumi's bar, it is uncovered that Sōta is losing his healthy identity in his seat structure.
After following Daijin to Tokyo, Sōta has Suzume take him to his loft. He makes sense of the legend of the worm Namazu, and the way things are assuaged by the situation of two cornerstones in eastern and western Japan. The western cornerstone has turned into the feline Daijin, while records of the eastern cornerstone's area are dark. Should the worm show up in Tokyo, it could obliterate the city like the 1923 Extraordinary Kantō quake. Daijin returns and uncovers that he had given his capability as a cornerstone to Sōta's seat structure. In the wake of finding the reappeared worm, Sōta transforms into a cornerstone in Suzume's grasp, passing on Suzume to seal it away. She does so and awakens in a cavern lodging Tokyo's entryway. Looking into the Always Later, she sees the cornerstone Sōta yet again can't enter to contact him. Suzume visits Sōta's granddad at the clinic. He clarifies that Suzume's capacity to see the worm and the Consistently After through the entryways implies that she has incidentally entered the domain once previously. Besides, the entryway that she previously utilized is the main spot where she can reappear the Always Later and save Sōta.
Rejoining her Auntie Tamaki, who followed her from Kyushu, Suzume goes to her life as a youngster old neighborhood in Tōhoku, which was obliterated in the 2011 Tōhoku quake and tidal wave along with the assistance from Sōta's kindred college colleague and companion, Tomoya Serizawa whom she met at Sōta's loft just before the worm showed up in Tokyo. At a rest stop en route, Suzume finds that Tamaki was moved by Sadaijin, the eastern cornerstone. Tamaki takes Suzume to the vestiges of her old house where she once resided with her mom/Tamaki's sister, a medical caretaker who was killed in the wave. Suzume tracks down her old entryway and enters with Daijin and Sadaijin. She arises in the Consistently Later, which shows up as her town following the seismic tremor wave. While Sadaijin occupies the worm, Suzume stirs Sōta, returning him to human structure. Conceding rout, Daijin gets back to being a cornerstone. With Daijin and Sadaijin, Suzume and Sōta reseal the worm, keeping it from leaving the Always Later.
Sōta then, at that point, sees a kid in the Consistently Later: Suzume from quite a while back. Suzume recollects how she entered the Consistently After as a youngster following her mom's demise. She takes her life as a youngster seat from the Consistently After variant of her home and gives it to her more youthful self, informing her regarding her future. Youthful Suzume exits the Consistently After with the seat, prompting her to be found by Tamaki 12 years earlier. Suzume and Sōta leave the Consistently After themselves, with Sōta getting back to Tokyo while Suzume and Tamaki return to Kyushu, returning to the companions she made en route.
In a little while, back in Miyazaki, Suzume is headed to school when she by and runs into Sōta, strolling up a similar street where they initially met.

Language Learning Log 2022 Week 47 (21/11 - 27/11)
Banner photo: It’s been a busy week, and while being disabled by a cat who cares not for my busy schedule doesn’t ease the workload, it does make it a little easier to deal with!

Wrote 2x journal entries
Read 1x article
Listened to the radio

I'm really noticing progress with Japanese at the moment! On Wednesday I managed to do my italki lesson almost completely in Japanese :D Don't get me wrong, it was all very simple and I didn't understand everything and I certainly didn't say much unprompted, but I did my best to work around words I didn't know, and I recognise a lot more words.
I had a lot to do this week. So... I procrastinated by organising my Japanese vocab 😅 I found my old excel spreadsheet with kanji from back when I was first learning Japanese and I transferred a bunch of it to my Anki decks, as well as copying over my Anki words into my spreadsheet and marking it as know/kinda know/don't know. I have nearly 500 words in there (not all the words I've learned, and I don't know all of the words there).
I'm also really enjoying Renshuu! It's definitely a much better app than Duolingo. I kinda want to keep up Duo until I've got all the monthly badges for this year as that was a bit of a goal I set myself... I've already got November's, so I just need December's. But after that I'm probably just gonna let my 800ish-day streak go. I've definitely given the whole learning path thing a fair shot and it's just too boring and inflexible and repetitive.
I'm feeling the effects of not engaging with Norwegian so much though... before, it was super easy for me to switch from English to Norwegian brain, but now when I read Norwegian my brain feels... slow. Like the blood in it is gloopy and not getting to the places it needs to be fast enough. But I'm so busy and Norwegian is unfortunately quite far down my priority list :( For one more week the studio showcase has to come first, and then Japanese. Once the showcase is done on Satuday I can spend a little more time on Norwegian, but Japanese will still have to come first, of course.
All this being said though... perhaps I'm just overwhelmed with showcase things and teaching (I've suddenly had more bookings again after a little lull) and fun little kana crosswords are simply easier and better at holding my attention that my usual scientific/news articles in Norwegian. So maybe that's why I'm struggling with Norwegian more than Japanese atm.

In a heartwarming tribute to one of the internet’s most iconic dogs, the Dogecoin community fundraised for a bronze statue of Kabosu, the Japanese Shiba Inu that inspired the beloved Doge meme and the Dogecoin cryptocurrency. The crowdfunding campaign, launched on Kabosu’s 17th birthday on Nov. 2, 2022, will end with the unveiling of the dog statue in Sakura Furusato Square at the beginning of November this year. Dogecoin Community’s Dream of Kabosu Statue Comes True According to a press release, a bronze statue of Kabosu, the Japanese Shiba Inu who inspired the beloved Doge meme and the Dogecoin cryptocurrency, will be unveiled in Sakura Furusato Square on Nov. 2 this year. The statue will serve as a physical meeting place for Doge enthusiasts worldwide, coming together to pay tribute to the profound impact of one woman, one dog, one photograph, and one meme on the world. Gary Lachance, a board member of the Dogecoin Foundation, stated: ”It’s quite a thrill to see this long-held dream of the Doge community finally being realized.” He added that “Kabosu has inspired laughter and goodwill in countless hearts.” The campaign, spearheaded by the Dogecoin Foundation, Own The Doge, and Atsuko Sato, Kabosu’s owner, aims to create not just a tribute to a beloved dog but a lasting symbol of positivity and unity. Kabosu Statue Fundraising Triumphs Despite Challenges The Dogecoin community, known for its humorous and charitable endeavors, initiated the campaign in November 2022 with an initial goal of $42,069. In an astonishing show of support, this goal was reached within just 72 hours. Despite the significant market downturn resulting from the collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, which considerably reduced the value of the crowdfunded assets, the fundraising persisted. Undeterred by this setback, the relentlessly positive Dogecoin community persevered with their plans. Sakura Furusato Square, where the statue will find its permanent home, is a picturesque park often frequented by Atsuko Sato and Kabosu. It features an ornamental Dutch windmill and will serve as the backdrop for this tribute to the world’s most beloved dog.
