in a college setting, imagine him being the barista at the local cafe, charismatic and charming to every cute girl he sees. but there's just something about the way you smile at him every saturday morning that makes his heart race, especially at 6am. he's always sure to be the one to take your order and make your drink for you. he adds a little heart to the top of your cup every time, and the coffee is always perfect. it's a little unspoken love language between the two of you.

kami would be such a cute barista, especially while in college. i can only imagine how drained he would be, sluggishly arriving for his dreaded 5am shift after staying out too late the night before. he's on auto-pilot until he sees you, his favorite saturday morning regular, strolling in with a pep in your step. how are you so...bright? at 6am? it baffles him every weekend.

you'll give him the warmest smile, asking how he's doing and how classes are going. the few minutes you get to spend chatting is what he cherishes most during his early morning routine. kaminari always jumps to the register when you arrive, making sure he's the one to take your order. and then when he finishes ringing you up, immediately goes back to the line to make your coffee for you. you're not sure how he does it, but it's perfect each time.

lately, he's been leaving an emoji for you to find on your cups, whether it be on the lid or tucked away under the protective sleeve - a smiley face, a heart, winky face, or some other silly doodle. it never fails to make you smile on your way to work study.

maybe sometime, you'd finally ask him on a lunch date, or to a movie or to have a picnic. either way, you were more than ready to explore a new beginning with the cute blonde barista you've had a crush on for weeks now.

Doing my belated 2023 art review. Putting it below a read more because a lot of stuff happened this year and some of it is kind of heavy.

2023 was a pretty good year for me, both personally and artistically. I had a couple of annoying minor medical issues that I'm still dealing with, but I'd say I was able to maintain my goal of drawing at least one little doodle a day for most of the year. I will say though that the vast majority of what I drew this year - probably like 95% - was personal art. Hopefully someday I'll be satisfied enough with it to post it. I'd also like to spend 2024 focusing more on painting and practicing landscapes. I spent the first three months of the year working on a piece for a local art gallery competition, which actually ended up getting accepted and subsequently spent the rest of the year touring around the state in several different exhibitions. That introduced me to the wonderful world of trying to figure out how the hell digital prints and shipping work, but everything turned out fine in the end. It remains the largest piece I've ever made at 18"x24", and hopefully once I get it shipped back to me I'll be sending it off to my parents. I also found out that I HATE writing artist's statements, like fuck off you don't need to know my background, just interpret the piece however. I'd like to post here, but I want to make sure first that it hasn't been uploaded to the internet by any of the galleries since I'd like to keep my personal info off this blog lmao What's funny is that I feel like I've come so far as an artist ever since I submitted that piece, that every time I look at the B-grade prints I have lying around I'm like "oh my god this looks terrible, I can't believe this got accepted". I guess that's just what being an artist is like Following that, I took the next month off from art, which was a nice little break. I did a bunch of art parties in FFXIV, which are always great for improving, because as counter-intuitive as it seems the best way to get good at art is to be forced to draw a whole bunch of different things under strict time limits. I feel like I can definitely see my lineart improving as the months go on. I also started working more with color, my eternal nemesis, and I'm hoping next year I can really start to nail down a style. I did Art Fight for the first time ever in July and it ROCKED, definitely going to do it again this year and I'm still pretty proud of the drawings I did. I love an event where it's socially acceptable for me to draw people's OCs. I think I'll probably focus on doing more WoW OCs this year. Unfortunately July is the busiest month for me at work, where I'm waking up at 5AM for basically the entire month straight and working in 100+ degree weather, so we'll see if I can maintain the energy for it.

And now the heavy stuff. Some of you might know that I'm pretty involved in the secret finding community in WoW, and back during BFA when we spent 11.5 months trying to find Jenafur, I did paint-overs of a bunch of cat memes to try and keep spirits up during the hunt. Unfortunately, the Make-A-Wish kid who created the pet ended up passing away in April. You can read about her life here in this article that will make you want to guillotine a chemical executive, and this older interview from 2020 about the secret. But what really got to me was this one line from the PCGames interview:

And like, I don't want to be presumptuous but like. I think she was talking about my art. Every time I posted on she'd comment on it, and she even DMed me about them. This line fucking destroyed me. I'm not even going to exaggerate. For several days after we found out about her death I was a wreck. The thought that my silly little drawings actually had an impact on someone and made their life a little brighter just ruined me. The bill she was fighting for ended up passing, and I hope that someday the idea of 'forever chemicals' will cease to exist.

If you haven’t seen already, by the time this posts the annual pjo pride art should be up over at @deadangelos. Very very fun. Got some new faces: Piper and Shel have been added to the lineup. Apollo is also no longer human. Magnus is distressed yet again, as is tradition at this point. 3/4 of the annual canonical PJO Pride Art features Magnus being distressed. Will this year is sparing everyone of the socks and sandals outfit, though I absolutely intend to continue tormenting everyone with that. Piper i have become incapable of drawing without DIY jorts, because let’s be real that’s exactly her vibes. Also I can never draw Lavinia without giving her pride color hair because the opportunity is there and I find it fun. Also Alex has heelys because I Said So.

The art is a bit fashionably late into the month but in my defense: My sleep schedule is, as the kids say, bad. I’m typing this at about 5am. Whoops.

I was very strongly considering including Reyna in this year’s pride art and only didn’t because she’s technically only aspec-coded, not canonically ace, and I try to keep the lineup of the pride art to the canonically queer major characters in the series and their partners if applicable. This is entirely just cause there’s a good number of canonically queer PJO characters and I already have to draw 12 annually. Drawing like, half of CHB would hurt me. I do really wanna at least doodle some ace pride art of Reyna though cause I adore her and also of course getting to draw one of my pride flags :Dc

Misc blog things: Grace Event will be returning soon!!! I swear!!! The blog’s not dead!!! I have a really long complicated plot that i’ve had planned out for like a year that covers events literally into Tower Of Nero and beyond so, yknow. Not just gonna drop that ball. Might start posting more here, especially with some fun little tid-bits about OCs and stuff on the blog and probably just general ramblings and research I do for writing and design. If yall ever have any questions or want to know about the random minute obsessive detail I put into things, the inbox for this blog is always open. There are also multiple mods so you may hear some input from them sometimes as well.

Mun Updates: Starting therapy tomorrow, very very cool. Also been figuring out how to use Adobe Premire and made a couple animatics and other silly videos. And bought Clip Studio Paint, so I will probably be messing around with that a ton. I am so very very tempted to make a Deadangelos animatic or two. Very tempted. insert eyes emoji here.

Virgil folded his arms and scowled, trying to ignore the trait staring at him with a judging expression.

Virgil had been having a bad day, his headphones had stopped working, he'd lost his phone charger, Logan had almost sent him into an existential crisis and now on top of all that Deceit had decided to question why he was sitting on top of the bookcase

"Why are you up there?" Deceit asked again, his tone more demanding as it was clear Virgil planned to ignore him.

Deceit received no answer and the snake faced trait walked over to the bookshelf and shoved it so it wobbled.

Virgil let out an inhuman shriek as he almost fell and then he growled "Take a fucking hint. I don't want to talk to you"

"Answer the question or I'll do it again." Deceit said, his hands on the bookcase ready to push it again

Virgil growled and hissed like an angry cat in response to Deceits threat and made him recoil backwards in shock.

After a few seconds Deceit recovered and let out his own hiss, sounding exactly like a snake.

They hissed at each other for several minutes before Logan walked in.

Logan stopped and took in the situation before shaking his head and walking right back out with a muttered "Nope."

He bumped into Patton and said "Virgil and Deceit are arguing again."

Patton shook his head and walked into the room he'd seen Logan leave, frowning as he took in the two arguing traits.

Virgil was on top of the bookcase which wasn't that surprising but what was surprising was the fact he had used his shape-shifting ability to turn himself into a cat.

Patton looked at Deceit who of course had turned into a large snake and sighed. The two of them were hissing and spitting at each other aggressively.

"Both of you stop!" Patton shouted, and shook his head when the two ignored him.

Virgil jumped down from the bookcase and let out an angry yowl, making Deceit rise up with his mouth open threateningly.

Neither of them were going to listen even if Patton shouted and screamed so Patton did the only thing he could think of.

He turned himself into a large alsatian dog and let out a booming bark.

The snake and cat took one look at the huge dog and immediately changed back into their original forms.

Patton changed back as well and sent a stern glare at the pair of them. "What on earth were you two doing?" he asked.

"He tried to knock me off the bookshelf."

"He was completely ignoring me!"

The two traits shouted at the same time pointing accusing fingers at each other and then turned and hissed, realising what the other said.

"Stop that right now! Both of you are being silly and because of that you're going to spend the day in animal forms." Patton clicked his fingers and once again had a snake and a cat in front of him.

Yowls and growls came from the cat but Patton just folded his arms "I may not be able to understand cat but I'm almost certain whatever you just said was very unpleasant. If you don't learn to stop cursing I'll have to wash your mouth out with soap."

The cat let out a small meow and sat down, glaring at the floor.

The snake hissed almost as if it were laughing, until Patton turned his gaze onto it. "I don't know why you're laughing Deceit. I'm not happy with you for flipping off Thomas. I suggest the both of you go do something other than get into trouble before I decide to start removing privileges such as your phones."

The cat immediately darted out of the room and the snake let out a strange hissy sigh before slithering out as well.

Patton shook his head with a slight smile. Hopefully a day of being stuck in animal form would stop the two of them arguing so much in the future.
