I love every "Death set Dream up with Hob on purpose" headcanon, and I love "actually I was planning to throw Chaucer at you but I can wing it pretty damn well and, once I heard Hob call me stupid, I knew, yeah that's going to be Dream's boyfriend". It takes a village (or an older sister) to get Dream a boyfriend.

Now, I'm picturing the entire Endless family blindsided when Dream comes to a family dinner like "I GOT MARRIED! LIKE TWO MINUTES AFTER THE LAST DINNER--" "That was a literal century ago?!"

Destiny, out loud: it was an unlikely path in my book, so I didn't give it much attention 
Destiny, in his head: honestly I started speed-reading/skimming through Dream's love life paragraphs because watching him crash and burn and cause massive body counts just seemed so... repetitive and predictable?

Death: knowing our brother, I was carefully managing my expectations and was just glad he was still doing the century meetups last time I'd checked. Good for him, managing to stay with somebody for a century, that outstrips his last relationship by ... like 7 decades.  Kind of offended I wasn't invited to this wedding, kind of not planning to say anything?

Desire: At this point, I stick my fingers in my ears and go "lalalalalala" whenever I hear anything about Dream and want, either him wanting or somebody wanting him, because Death said I had to stop making fun of him for how disproportionate his Yearn to Act Ratio was, and any ammunition I can't use is just ... irritating. I figured if anything really changed, my twin would tell me about his descent into misery.

Despair: He was less miserable, but I assumed it was a fluke and he'd return to his normal equilibrium eventually. And it's not like my twin let me know he'd managed to successfully want AND obtain something?

And Delirium had more important things to think about than her brother's sad love life, like would flying fish fired out of confetti cannons be considered birds until they landed?

Meanwhile all denizens of the Dreaming are never not aware that Dream is happily married, because the weather has been perfect for years and the throne room stained glass is some variation of Hob and Dream being lovey-dovey.

i've been on something of a mild horror/angst kick lately! a "What If" that always plagues me has always been "What if Tenzō didn't make it out of Root before he entered the narrative?"

it's not an AU i ever seriously plan to play with because it warps and breaks the canon narrative so bad, and it's just straight up unfun, but. every once and a while I get curious who "Captain Yamato" would have been, in that case, especially working alongside Sai still!

The first time Miquella takes notice of Mohg's absence. Goes in to check up on him and finds the big omen himself huddled up in his nest, whimpering and - even odder - naked.

Miquella, of course, approaches, asking what's ailing Mohg at that moment. That's when the topic of periods comes up, and boy howdy Mohg just isn't handling it very well...

... I mean, the Lord of Blood is also super weak to bloodloss. He WOULD NOT handle it very well.

It's not that Miquella's taken aback by Mohg bleeding; it's just how out of sorts he is.

And Mohg has always had to deal with times like this in solitude, and it just sort of breaks his heart. So he takes the time to sit with Mohg, try and sooth the aches and pains. Offering him gentle head pets and soft tummy rubs.

... Deep breath. I'm just a sucker for showering this big "scary" omen with tender love during moments of vulnerability!

and perhaps mohg is on some level ashamed that something as "small" and ordinary as periods are capable of bringing him down so effectively and make him so miserable - so many wounds, injuries and illnesses he can just shrug off and ignore, so why not this?

and miquella pets him and kisses him on his forehead and tells him that there's nothing wrong with that, that it's okay and even good to let one's self to be weak and soft sometimes, to not just power through every pain. he's not in the shunning grounds anymore, he doesn't have to fight for his survival and be strong and alert every single second, he can relax and let himself be weak and have as many sick days as he wants and needs - he's safe, and miquella will look after him. and he brings mohg medicine and a bed warmer to help with the cramps, and stays with him while the fearsome lord of blood snoozes.

Secondly, if you have time, I want to hear your thoughts about a recurring thought I have. Would you agree that men don't tend to take media made for women seriously? Doesn't matter if it's made by a woman, but media or things in general made for girls. The two main things I think about is the Barbie movie and anything by Jane Austen. A lot of conservative bros I see have a legitimate hate for both of those things and ...Why? I think they're both really important for different reasons and I don't understand the perception of "silliness" around them. I mean, Barbie obviously is silly in a lot of ways but.... It's a Girls Girls movie, like how Braveheart is a Mans Mans movie and also is a bit silly in the way that men are (but it's still one of my, a girls, favourite movies).

Maybe it could be said that girls don't generally understand media made for men either, since a lot of girls hate reading Charles Dickens or Mark Twain. But neither of those author's really made them "for men," it's just that men seem to gravitate towards them -- and at the same time, you don't hear women saying they want to take Mark Twain's jawbone and beat him over the head with it (quote from Ben Shapiro about Jane Austen. He was joking but it still rubbed me the wrong way).

Yes, in the sense that I'm not fixated on anything else, but no, in the sense that I'm avoiding SNK content until I can reread/rewatch before (finally) viewing the finale.

Next, I think men do have a hard time taking women's media seriously, but part of the reason is that media geared toward solely men or solely women isn't generally setting out to be the most serious thing in the first place. I don't know anyone, male or female, who takes chick flicks and action movies seriously, and if we get the sense that a new film leans toward one or the other (even if it doesn't strictly fall into that genre), we reach a conclusion about it in that moment because there's only so much time in the day and money in the pocket we can devote to entertainment.

But then, not taking something seriously is very different from legitimately hating it. I can understand why a man would hate the Barbie movie, especially if he hasn't seen it. Like all feminist media, it's going to be about how all men are oppressors and all women are their victims, right? And that's obviously a despicable message worthy of hatred. And if he's already decided that's what it's going to be about, he's probably not going to change his mind when he watches it, because as I've previously explained, Greta Gerwig failed to send a consistent message, as she has failed to do in all her blockbuster movies. I've described her to my mother as "a conservative trapped in a liberal's body." She just can't reconcile the two belief systems that drive her. (Conservative men aren't the only people who hated it either, I know plenty of conservative women who hated it. And I know conservatives of both sexes who enjoyed it immensely.)

Very rarely do I see a man's film morally disparage women the way that so many women's films do to men, and this probably contributes to more men hating women's films than vice versa.

I think it's true that neither men nor women can fully understand the appeal of media made for the other, but because we are complementary, I do think we owe each other at least an attempt to understand. Which, by the way, is never going to work for you if you've accepted the premise that we are fundamentally the same in spirit and our differences are merely social constructs.

Finally, as concerns Ben Shapiro and Jane Austen, he actually was quoting Mark Twain in that segment, and this is a delightful background of Mark Twain's self-proclaimed--but spurious--hatred of Jane Austen. But for any guys out there who do think Austen is "chick lit," just about every homeschooled boy or homeschooling father I knew loved Jane Austen's work and considered Pride & Prejudice an invaluable tool for the raising of honorable men. Here's an article about why.

Like, Thranduil is sindarian, in the same way Elrond is sindarian. Technically yes, but he wasn’t really raised the sindarin way.

Idk, maybe oropher and his wife got married (and had thranduil) before the sindar followed elwe, which is when they split, bc the wife (does anyone have a recommendation what to call her (or him? Them? I’m not picky)) did not want to live under valarin/maiarin rule. And thranduil wanted to stay with her.
