i find it so amazing how almost all the Avatar’s looks like the previous avatar’s spouse..

example, Kavik, Yangchen’s ‘lover’, looks very similar to Avatar Kuruk (the avatar after Yangchen)

Kuruk’s lover , Ummi , looks somewhat similar to Avatar Kyoshi (the avatar after Kuruk)

Avatar Kyoshi’s lover, Rangi, Looks a lot like Avatar Roku ( who is the avatar after Kyoshi)

Roku’s lover, Ta Min, looks very similar to Avatar Aang (the avatar after Roku)

and, last but not least, Avatar Korra has facial familiarities similar Katara, Aang’s lover

Given that there isn’t even a mention of Ummi in the Kyoshi novels (pro- Hei Ran propaganda I tell you!), it’s safe to assume she met Kuruk when he already started fighting spirits. Ummi loved Kuruk at his worst. If Kuruk wasn’t so worn down by fighting the spirits and Father Glowworm, he could have taken down Koh and saved Ummi.

Chapter summary: Katara falls into the Spirit Oasis.

Katara saw herself sitting on the banks of the Spirit Oasis with another woman’s face. She was beautiful. Her hazel eyes were alluring, and her face was round and innocent. This woman’s name came to her lips as if on the edge of a memory riddled with a mysterious command.

“Ummi,” she said. It felt right. It felt wrong.

For a moment, they simply stared at each other. The shower of water that came crashing around them was like a diaphanous curtain obscuring Ummi from view. But she saw the brightness in her eyes and knew that there was so much more to this.

Katara was not quite sure where the rest of her was, only that she seemed to be seeing things through this temporary looking glass. She saw Ummi’s face on her body glance at someone next to her and say something, and then with a gasp, she was caught around her waist by an encroaching shadow that swallowed her whole.
