Timothy Drake-Wayne, or “Business Tim” as Bart has dubbed him, is a force to be reckoned with. It’s not an iteration of Tim that any of their vigilante social circle is privy to terribly often, and part of that is intentional - he’s downright unnerving, not because he’s ruthlessly efficient (Tim always is), or because he’s basically a genius (ditto), but because he’s so- normal. So polished.
(Red) Robin’s merciless professionalism in the costume has always come with a hearty side helping of downright strangeness that had made his otherwise terrifying competency a little bit easier to tolerate. While it hadn’t watered him down any, it had at least added a layer of humanity to the whole child prodigy schtick - like, Kon and the rest of them could content themselves with the knowledge that, sure, Rob was already solving crime at the level of the literal Batman, but he also ate his Froot Loops with fucking orange juice, and had once watched an eight hour video essay on a German vampire show he’d never even seen before in one sitting and come out the other side temporarily unable to form complete sentences in English. It was all about balance.
Business Tim, on the other hand, is smart, hardworking, punctual, and impressively, horrifically bland. Business Tim greets coworkers with the sort of vacuously polite smile that belongs in a toothpaste commercial; Business Tim’s hobbies are reading books on empathic leadership and watching Jeopardy; Business Tim claims to have left his skateboarding days behind him, and instead drives an Audi A4 in Cobra Beige to work every day, and never, ever speeds. It’s like he’s managed to couple the unassuming harmlessness of Brucie Wayne with Tim’s own brand of “absolutely needing to be the best at everything he does, ever” and create the perfect storm of corporate soullessness.

Stellantis wants to make scabbing woke
Tumblr media
I'm coming to Minneapolis! Oct 15: Presenting The Internet Con at Moon Palace Books. Oct 16: Keynoting the 26th ACM Conference On Computer-Supported Cooperative Work and Social Computing.
Tumblr media
I know, I know, it's weird when the worst people you know are right, even when they're right for the wrong reasons: like, the "Intelligence Community" is genuinely terrible, pharma companies are murderous crooks, and Big Tech really does have a dangerous grip on public debate. The swivel-eyed loons have a point, is what I'm saying:
https://locusmag.com/2023/05/commentary-cory-doctorow-the-swivel-eyed-loons-have-a-point/
When conspiratorialists and reactionaries holler about how the FBI are dirty-tricking creeps who are framing Trump, it's tempting to say, "well, if Trumpists hate the FBI, then I will love the FBI. Who cares about COINTELPRO and what they did to Martin Luther King?"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FBI%E2%80%93King_suicide_letter
It's a process called "schizmogenesis": forming new group identity beliefs based on saying the opposite of what your enemies say, and as tempting as that is, it's extraordinarily foolish and dangerous:
https://pluralistic.net/2021/12/18/schizmogenesis/
It means that canny reactionaries like Steve Bannon can trick you into taking any position merely by taking the opposite one. Bannon's followers are even more easily led, so it's easy for him to convince them that we have always been at war with Oceania. The right has created an entire mirror world of "I know you are but what am I?" politics.
Anti-vax co-opts "bodily autonomy." Climate denial becomes environmentalism ("wind turbines kill birds"). Transphobia becomes feminism ("keep women-only spaces for real women"). Support for strongmen becomes anti-imperialism ("don't feed the war machine in Ukraine"). These are the doppelgangers Naomi Klein warns us against:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/05/not-that-naomi/#if-the-naomi-be-klein-youre-doing-just-fine
The far right has even managed to co-opt anti-corporate rhetoric. Culture warriors rail against "woke capitalism," insisting that when big businesses take socially progressive positions, it's just empty "virtue signalling." And you know what? They've got a point. Partially.
As with all mirror-world politics, the anti-woke-capitalism shuck is designed to convince low-information right-wing pismires into buying "anti-woke pillows" and demanding the right to pay junk fees to "own the libs":
https://pluralistic.net/2023/08/04/owning-the-libs/#swiper-no-swiping
But woke capitalism is bullshit. Corporations – profit-maximizing immortal transhuman colony organisms that view workers and customers as inconvenient gut-flora – do not care about social justice. They don't care about anything, except for minimizing compensation for workers while maximizing the risk those workers bear; and locking in and gouging customers for products that are as low-quality as can be profitably sold.
Take DEI, a favored target of the right. It's undoubtably true that diversity, inclusion and equity initiatives have made some inroads on correcting bias in hiring decisions, with the result that companies get better employees who would have been excluded without this explicit corrective.
However, corporations don't value DEI because they abhor their history of hiring bias. Instead, DEI is how corporate management demonstrates to workers that their grievances are best addressed by trusting corporate leadership to correct their error of their ways – and not by forming a union.
Before the passage of the National Labor Relations Act in 1935, corporations would create fake "Company Unions" whose leadership were beholden to the company executives. These were decoy unions: they looked and sounded like unions, but when they negotiated with management, they were actually working for the bosses, not the workers.
This is more mirror-world tactics. They're the labor equivalent of the "crisis pregnancy centers" that masquerade as abortion clinics in order to fool pregnant people and trap them with endless delays until it's too late to terminate their pregnancies. Company unions get workers to trust in negotiators who are secretly working for the bosses, who emerge from the bargaining table with one-sided, abusive contracts and insist that this is the best deal workers can hope for.
Company unions were outlawed 90 years ago, and for decades, labor had a seat at the table, with wages tracking productivity gains and workers getting protection for discrimination, unsafe labor conditions, and wage-theft. Then came the neoliberal turn, and 40 years of wage stagnation, increased inequality, and corporate rule.
Anything that can't go on forever will eventually stop. Finally, finally, we have reached a turning point in labor, with public approval for unions at levels not seen since the Carter administration and thousands of strikes and protests breaking out across the country:
https://striketracker.ilr.cornell.edu/
It's not just the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA, either. For the first time in history, the UAW is striking against all the major automakers, and they are winning:
https://arstechnica.com/cars/2023/10/striking-uaw-workers-win-key-battery-plant-concession-from-general-motors/
The automakers are getting desperate. Stellantis – Chrysler's latest alias, reflecting the company's absorbtion into corporate-human-centipede of global carmakers – has mobilized its DEI programs, trying to get marginalized people to believe that scabbing is a liberatory activity:
https://theintercept.com/2023/10/10/uaw-auto-strike-stellantis/
Stellantis calls each of its DEI silos a "Business Resource Group" (BRG): there's a "Working Parents Network," an "African Ancestry Network," "Asians Connected Together," a "DiverseAbilities Network," a "Gay & Lesbian Alliance" and more:
https://blog.stellantisnorthamerica.com/2021/07/20/business-resource-groups-drive-inclusion-and-diversity/
The corporate managers who lead these BRGs have established a scab rotation for each subgroup, calling on members to cross a UAW picket-line at a Michigan Parts Distribution Center run by Stellantis subsidiary Mopar:
Each BRG will pick a specific day of the week/weekend to volunteer as a team. Help continue to be the RESOURCE the BUSINESS can count on! Stellantis needs your help in running the Parts Distribution Centers (PDC) to ensure a steady supply of parts to our customers while negotiations continue. Working Parents Network has identified Friday, October 13 as WPN’s BRG Day at the PDCs!"
Now, these BRGs weren't invented by marginalized workers facing discrimination in the workplace. They come from literal union-busting playbooks produced by giant "union avoidance" firms that charge bosses millions for advice on skirting – or breaking – the law to keep workplace democracy at bay. All the biggest anti-union consultancies love BRGs, from Littler Mendelson to Jackson Lewis. IRI Strategies touts BRGs as a way to "union-proof" a business by absorbing workers' grievances in a decoy committee that will let them feel listened to.
BRGs, in other words, are the Crisis Pregnancy Centers of workplace discrimination. They're a Big Store Con, a company union dressed up as corporate social responsibility.
Now, let's not pretend that unions have a sterling record on race and gender issues. Giant labor organizations like the AFL had to be dragged into racial integration, and trade unions have sometimes been on the wrong side of anti-immigration panics:
https://www.archives.gov/publications/prologue/1997/summer/american-labor-movement.html
But unions have also been the most reliable way for people of color and women to win better workplace treatment. The struggle for racial and gender justice was fought through labor organizing. Remember that MLK's "I've Been To the Mountaintop" speech was given in support of striking sanitation workers in Memphis:
https://www.afscme.org/about/history/mlk/mountaintop
Black organizers have always been militant labor organizers. Labor Day commemorates the victory of the long, hard-fought Pullman strike, where Black workers brought one of the most powerful companies in America to its knees:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pullman_Strike
And women have always fought for gender justice through the labor movement: the New York shirtwaist strike is the Ur-example, when women-led unions fought thugs and scabs on icy New York streets:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_shirtwaist_strike_of_1909
It's no surprise that labor activism, anti-racism and feminism go together. Since the earliest days, the labor justice struggle was also a social justice struggle. To learn more check out Kim Kelly's Fight Like Hell: The Untold History of American Labor:
https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Fight-Like-Hell/Kim-Kelly/9781982171063
The most exploited, underpaid, and abused workers in America are also the most marginalized (duh).
From nurses:

To teachers:

To baristas:
https://www.cnn.com/2023/09/29/business/starbucks-union-wages/index.html
To fast-food workers:
https://www.ufcw.org/about/
The vanguard of today's labor surge is Black, brown, female and queer. Without a union, workers who face discrimination are on their own, hoping that their bosses will voluntarily do something about it. Black workers in Tesla's rabidly anti-union shops face vicious racism, from slurs to threats to violence. Without a union, they have to rely on the shifting whims of an Apartheid emerald mine space-Karen for relief, or hope for help from the NLRB or a class-action lawyer:
https://apnews.com/article/tesla-racism-black-lawsuit-class-action-21c88bddf60eca702560be58429495de
The far right isn't wrong when they holler that woke capitalism is bullshit. As with so many of their mirror-world causes, they've got a point, but only a limited one. The problem with woke capitalism is that it's no substitute for a union. The problem with relying on Business Resource Groups to fight racism, sexism, homophobia and transphobia is that these struggles are all class struggles, and a BRG is never going to fight against the company that created it.
To understand how bankrupt woke capitalism is, conside this: Stellantis is calling on its "Working Parents Network" to scab this Friday. Stellantis is also being sanctioned by the Department Of Labor for discriminating against nursing mothers – the same "working parents" that the BRG is meant to protect:
https://www.clickondetroit.com/news/local/2023/02/08/investigation-finds-stellantis-violated-rights-of-nursing-mothers-at-sterling-heights-plant/
Woke capitalism is just another kind of "predatory inclusion," like Intuit's campaign defending its "Free File" tax-prep scam, where they're claiming that ending this ripoff is racist because it denies Black families the right to be tricked into paying for something they are entitled to get for free:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/09/27/predatory-inclusion/#equal-opportunity-scammers
When I learned about Intuit's wokewashing, I thought I'd found woke capitalism's rock bottom, but I was wrong. Stellantis's call for woke scabbing is a new low.

I do think he works hard for his brand, the issue here (I believe) may be AN. They don’t have the right support. They can’t always expect SH celebrity status to be the main support of the brand, he is not that know (sorry but true), still love him ❤️ There has to be a team that is dedicated solely to the brand and promote it. The “company” has the same people working on MPC, SS, accessories and film production, hence MIK but their website is not even running it’s a front, it’s a huge loss right there. For example, Maximum Effort is a Ryan Reynolds’s film production company, they concentrate on that he appears on some vids but runs by its self, aviation gin Ryan Reynolds’s too different team, you get my point.
They are stretched too thin and cannot manage everything themselves with the few people they have and it shows. Someone has to be out doing the deals, making the announcements ahead of time, publishing content constantly, and customer management. They don’t, it’s shows on the quality of content, quality of the places and primarily on the quality of consistency.
From your posts I am not surprised the majority of the sales is in the U.S. that’s where the largest fan base is and it did help launch, now they have concentrate how to pivot into a better quality market i.e. Fort Lauderdale is a “cheap” get wasted kind of place and you won’t find a good market for Gin nor quality whisky and forget about Tequila, it’s overcrowded. They need to focus better on where to take it and how to sell it. It’s winning competitions then take it where it will be valued.
Also, what’s happening to the EU market? Last known news was that they lost the trade name to an old German whisky name similar to the Sassenach.
In all better PR, better team, better leadership.
That’s my two cents.
------------------------------
Above submitted.
An is not alone the issue, it’s as much as himself as well. He just wants to keep control too much. Trusting AN for the daily business. I agree, having the same team for all his endeavors, and mostly people related to AN, is an issue. And for as far as I’ve seen for quite a long time is there’s not really a dedicated marketing team nor strategy plan for it. Beginning with the websites, the SS website is just a front as well, and so are all the websites for the books. It’s just how can we as fast as possible direct you to the purchase button. they forget that people (especially if we focus on people outside the OL fandom) need to be convinced, why is it that makes this product special, why would I want to buy it. Not because it is Sam Heughan who created it. It needs something else! And they do have a story to tell, but they just skip that whole part. Rely on the ‘related products’ on the ReserveBar site.
About the numbers, you must take into account that these numbers are the numbers of the ReserveBar sales pages. If you’re located in Europe, you will be redirected to Masters of Malt, and Canada you get directed to Willowpark and only see the tequila! So not that surprising the majority sales for RB are in the US. Though the largest part of his fanbase is in the US. That said, EU/Canada and other countries are not really on the priority list and how can you expect numbers to grow if it’s not? Growth strategy should be focussing on where there is room to grow, and it most certainly includes EU.
Germany is a lost case. I know there is this German fan constantly posting and asking people to sign a petition. They lost the case in Germany, and rightfully so, there is a company many years old, to which the SS name shows too much similarity(Theo Sasse) It’s not a German whisky though, but related to beverages and food if I recall right. Why would someone give up their rights they owned for many years, and have their brand compromised because some actor that didn’t do the best research when choosing the name? Do people understand how that is a family business that is on the market for a very long time and worked hard to have their brand established? Why do they think SH would have more rights for the name? Just because he is SH? Good thing the court doesn’t think so!

✨️THE DREAMIES IN HOGWARTS✨️
CONTENTS: SORTING THE MEMBERS, THEIR FAVOURITE SUBJECTS, EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACRIVITIES, FAVOURITE HANG-OUTS, PATRONUS, ETC.
Tumblr media
MARK ♡ GRYFFINDOR
Mark values chivalry, determination and will do anything for what he thinks is right which is why he was sorted into Gryffindor.
Mark is a pureblood but his family embraces the muggle world too so while he has the revered status of a pureblood, he isn't snobby.
Of course, he's the captain of the Gryffindor quidditch team (he's a chaser btw) while also being the head boy after two years of being a prefect. Even in this world, he is booked and busy!
Mark gets straight O's but his favourite subject is Transfiguration. He's a seventh year so he's very busy but if not studying or attending to his responsibilities as captain and head boy, Mark often hangs out at the common room.
Fun facts: Mark has an owl whose name is Subak. He sometimes tutors 1st and 2nd years on the weekends. He's missed multiple trips to Hogsmeade on purpose to study more. Mark has been to the room of requirements once when he was extremely sleep-delrived and it provided him a very relaxing room in which he spent a whole 13 hours sleeping. He doesn't remember where he found it. His patronus is, fittingly, a lion.
Tumblr media
RENJUN ♡ RAVENCLAW
Renjun was sorted into Ravenclaw because he values intellect and has logical approach to things. He has a thirst for knowledge and learning.
Renjun is a half-blood and therefore has attachments to the muggle world. Not to worry! By his second year, he figured out a way to spell his phone to fully function in hogwarts.
Renjun took over as the head of S.P.E.W in his second year which had only 4 members at the time. He has managed to amass 30 more members during his leadership.
Besides his academic thirst, Renjun has a number of creative pursuits; one of them being painting. His favourite subject is Astronomy and despite it's doubtful reputation, he quite enjoys Divination. He's exceptional at Herbology. He studies often in the Great Hall with other sixth years as he likes to hear the hustle and bustle of other students while doing his work
Fun facts: The only rule Renjun consistently breaks is one regarding the Astronomy Tower which is out of bounds to students besides during class. He hangs out a lot there for peace and quiet whenever everyone got a bit too much. His patronus is a fox.
Tumblr media
JENO ♡ HUFFLEPUFF
Jeno was told by the Sorting Hat that he was 50/50 for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff but ultimately was sorted in Hufflepuff due to what he truly cares about. He is loyal and patient and values dedication and hard work. A Hufflepuff through and through.
He is a pureblood and his family has a long history of Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs, the former being his mum's side of the family.
Jeno is an exemplary student however, he was suprisingly not asked to be a prefect. Still, the rumours persist and insist that he's well on his way to becoming head boy. His responsibilities are preoccupied with being the Hufflepuff quidditch team's keeper (joining the team his 1st year!) as well as being the captain, a position he's held since his fourth year.
The subject Jeno excels at and is also his favourite is Care of Magical Creatures followed by Charms. Jeno is a quidditch boy at heart and so he is often found practicing in the quidditch pitch with or without the rest of his team.
Fun facts: The pet Jeno brought is a cat, Bongshik, who is actually a family pet. Though not a prefect, a lot of prefect duties fall upon him due to a certain best friend who rarely takes his duties seriously. Jeno can apparate but he doesn't like doing it as he never quite got rid of the quesy feeling he gets when he does it. Jeno's patronus is a Kneazle which is funnily a cat-like magical creature.
Tumblr media
HAECHAN ♡ SLYTHERIN
Haechan was extremely determined to be a Slytherin and of course, he got his wish. His cunning, ambitious and extremely clever nature also helped get him into the house. Haechan is extremely competitive, willing to go to extreme lengths just to win. Sure, he uses tricks but he would never outright cheat because when he shows off, he wants it to be earned.
He comes from a long line of pure-bloods who were all Slytherin. Growing up, he had heard from his parents time in Hogwarts and always hoped that he could also have a fulfilling and nourishing time at the school.
Haechan, though is a bit of a rule breaker, is a prefect. He only became one on his 6th year as the initial candidate refused (something about focusing on his NEWTs). Despite his mischevious reputation, Haechan is usually one of the top in his classes, not getting a single grade below O in his OWLs last year. Along with his studies, Haechan is an excellent athlete, joining his quidditch house team in his 3rd year as one of the beaters.
Haechan is a an ace at Potions and despises Ancient Runes. He's skipped out on that class more times than he can count, preferring for Renjun to share his notes on them. Haechan can often be found hanging around in the courtyards, playing with Zonko's products and testing out some weird potions he's concocted.
Fun Fact: His reputation as a prankster reached legendary status on the End-Of-Year feast his second year before everyone went home for the summer when he spelled all the candles suspended above in the Great Hall to turn into green slime, drenching everyone then coming together to form a giant snake that slithered everywhere. This and many more pranks are partly why he wasn't the first candidate to be prefect. His patronus is a brown bear.
Tumblr media
JAEMIN ♡ HUFFLEPUFF
The Sorting Hat almost put him in Ravenclaw but saw his uncompetitive and wild spirit and put this dude in Hufflepuff. He wants to do HIS best but doesn't care about being THE best or outdoing anyone. He values his friendships and is loyal to a fault. He's impartial and likes to focus on the happy parts of life.
He is a muggleborn but suprisingly (or unsuprisingly really) he took the being-a-wizard thing really well. When his letter arrived, he just kind of sat in silence for a good hour thinking about all the weird stuff that's happened to him beforehand and went "Oh, guess that's why".
Despite being new to it all, Jaemin quickly adjusted and is one of the most remarkable students in Hogwarts. A genius, if you will. He was made prefect in his 5th year because of this however, it is a position he does not take seriously at all. He never reprimands anyone at all as long as it's harmless. Jeno actually does a better job at playing prefect than him. He is also in the quidditch house team as a seeker.
He is known as a prodigy at Defence Against the Dark Arts, even beating out Ravenclaws as the top of his year. He's also extremely good at all his other classes. This is all very frustrating to everyone as no one has ever seen Jaemin study. He's usually seen lounging in the common room or hanging around wherever Jeno is so mostly he's at the quidditch pitch helping Jeno practice.
Fun Facts: Jaemin's pet is a Bowtruckle which he takes with him everywhere. Her name is Pal which has double meaning: the first as in 'friend' and second, the number eight which is the age he met the little Bowtruckle. His sweet tooth is very known. He has never missed a chance to visit Honeydukes on their trips to Hogsmeade to refill his stash of sweets. Jaemin's patronus is a bunny.
Tumblr media
CHENLE ♡ GRYFFINDOR
Before the Sorting Hat could fully sit on Chenle's head, it shouted out "Gryffindor!". This boy is the perfect example of one. He's not scared of anything and he cannot be swayed. He may be playful but he would never back down when it comes to challenge. He is not influenced by structures and marches to the beat of his own drum.
His family is one of the oldest and richest families within the wizarding world. Despite the old traditions that you expect encases his family's beliefs and practices, he's one of the most accepting and truly embracing people.
Chenle used to not be much of an "after-school-club" kind of person but Renjun convinced him to not only join S.P.E.W. but also choir. Now he performs every Halloween and Opening Ceremonies at Hogwarts or any other event they get asked to sing at. He's not afraid to say he quite enjoys it.
He's great at Transfiguration and enjoys it a lot. He loves Defense Against the Dark Arts too. He hangs out mostly in the common room or library, annoying or helping Jisung out when he's studying, depending on his mood.
Fun Facts: He's a pretty brave dude, what with being in Gryffindor but he only had the courage to tell Haechan he absolutely despised Potions now, already in his 5th year. His patronus is a dolphin.
Tumblr media
JISUNG ♡ GRYFFINDOR
Jisung was a close call to Hufflepuff but ultimately ended up in Gryffindor because that was what his heart and mind was set with. Although he is sometimes hesitant and kind of a scaredy-cat, he is brave and chivalrous. Remember! The presence of his fears is exactly why he's brave.
Jisung is a half-blood. His mother is the one part of the wizarding world. He never knew he was also a wizard and a lot of his strange magical behaviour was always excused away. It was only when his letter arrived that his mum explained everything.
He fell in love with quidditch as soon as he learned about it and immediately studied up on it. He practiced the months prior to going to Hogwarts his first-year and his mum taught him, having played in her house team when she was in school. He was welcomed in the team in his second year and is a seeker.
His only focus is quidditch but he does decently in his classes and above averagely in Charms. He does marvelously in Divination; enough for him to have a reputation for it. When he's not practicing quidditch, he tries to study, knowing he's about to start OWLS next year but he gets very easily distracted by Chenle. The armchair closest to the fireplace in the Gryffindor common room is his favourite spot in the whole school.
Fun Facts: Jisung collects quidditch books. He has a growing bookcase at home and is very sad he can't take it all with him at school. He has an owl he calls Goldie becomes of its shiny and yellowish feathers. It reminds him of the golden snitch. His patronus is a mouse.

2023 / 03
Aperçu of the Week:
"A regime that murders its own youth to intimidate its population has no future."
(Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, who again summoned the Iranian ambassador to the Foreign Office after the execution of two more protesters in Iran)
Bad News of the Week:
In the 1980s, we took to the streets with the slogan "Make peace without weapons!" Nowadays, it's "We need more guns to keep the peace." Swords to plowshares was yesterday. A beautiful dream from which we wake up startled because a few despots on this planet apparently had a too small shovel in their sandbox. Or a too small penis in their pants. "Geostrategic interests" is the name of the game. The laughter gets stuck in your throat there.
Welcome to a new age of the arms race. Current lowlight: President Emanuel Macron announces that he will invest almost 700 billion in France's military by the end of this decade. Among other things, in aircraft carriers and - watch out! - nuclear weapons. Because "nuclear deterrence (is) an element that distinguishes France from other countries in Europe." So do baguettes and croissants. But they are much more digestible. And, "We see again, in analyzing the war in Ukraine, their high importance." Ooph...
Good News of the Week:
The global community faces a series of interlinked crises. As this year's Global Risks Report explained, a polycrisis. As the summary of the 53rd World Economic Forum in Davos puts it: "The scale of the challenge, the sense of urgency, and the importance of collaboration was a thread that linked all the discussions this week, whether on Ukraine, the climate crises, supply chains, technology and innovation, health, the economy and so much more." In his closing statement, WEF President Børge Brende therefore also says that "in an uncertain and challenging time, one thing is clear: We can shape a more resilient, sustainable and equitable future, but the only way to do so is together."
For years, the Swiss event has been as a gathering of global elites who, far removed from the everyday lives of ordinary citizens of the world, worshipped the capitalist El Dorado of globalization. That is increasingly changing, even if not everyone has realized it yet. For example, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who used his appearance there as an advertisement for Germany as a business location instead of showing internationally long-awaited leadership in crisis management. This year's motto was "Cooperation in a fragmented World", which explicitly does not only mean economic cooperation.
WEF founder Klaus Schwab published the book "The Great Reset" a good two years ago. Conspiracy theorists (mis)understand the positions in it as evidence that a non-transparent neoliberal club is reaching for authoritarian world domination. In fact, it is exactly the opposite: in a disruptive age, the only viable perspective for the global community is to reorient the economy and society. Toward sustainability and social balance instead of profit maximization regardless its downsides.
Once again, it is UN Secretary-General António Guterres who puts it in a nutshell: "There are no perfect solutions in a perfect storm. But we can work to control the damage and seize opportunities. Now more than ever, it's time to forge the pathways to cooperation." Guterres apparently not only has better speechwriters, but also a clearer compass than Scholz. If the physical meeting of global decision-makers in appropriately placarded venues can also be understood as rallying behind the idea in terms of economic policy and aligning their future decisions and actions with it, the world can not only weather the polycrisis, but perhaps even emerge stronger. I hope I'm not being too naive here.
Personal happy moment of the week:
Winter has come after all. Which we enjoyed yesterday on a hike with friends around the Eibsee at the foot of the Zugspitze. As well as with the best pasta I've eaten in a long time. That's how a weekend has to be.
I couldn't care less...
...that French people see it as state overreach that the retirement age is to be raised moderately to 64. In Germany, we are already at 67, and even that will not be affordable in view of the baby boomers who will soon reach that age. To put it another way: the more years you work in the future, the fewer years you will spend in old-age poverty.
As I write this...
...I hope for the better: Today, according to the Chinese calendar, the Year of the Water Bunny begins. A year of hope, as it is called. We can all certainly use that.
Post Scriptum
"The (...) danger assumed on the basis of subjective perception is neither concrete nor present. Whether there will be climate changes is not scientifically proven, causal links between individual human impacts on the environment and climate phenomena are open." What sounds like Joe Manchin is an official pronouncement with which the energy company RWE - that's right: which is currently demolishing Lützerath - has defended itself in court against accepting responsibility for climate change. In 2006!
RWE is the largest producer of carbon dioxide in Europe. And in the next few years, it will earn about half a billion euros a year from coal alone, according to estimates by analysts such as Guido Hoymann, an expert on energy suppliers from Bankhaus Metzler. So money should be there when, hopefully, large-scale lawsuits are finally filed because fossil fuel companies have not only ruined the climate, but also lied about the consequences against their better judgment. The tobacco and fast food producers can sing a song about this.

The Future of Work: How BPR Can Help Your Business Change
Tumblr media
BPR News
By redesigning key business processes, business process reengineering (BPR) greatly enhances performance, speed, and effectiveness. Continuous innovation and change that improves processes from start to finish and gets rid of waste are examples of BPR. By removing steps and streamlining processes, BPR makes the best use of resources.
BPR challenges organizational conventions and procedures by redesigning business processes. It usually seeks radical process transformation. It should not be confused with business process management (BPM), a more incremental approach to optimizing processes, or business process improvement (BPI), which comprises any systematic effort to enhance processes. This blog shows BPR cases that benefit from BPM.
What is business process reengineering
BPR was a management method developed in the early 1990s to alter business operations by drastically restructuring processes. The 1990 Harvard Business Review article “Reengineering Work: Don’t Automate, Obliterate,” by Michael Hammer, and the 1993 book Reengineering the Corporation by Hammer and James Champy popularised the concept. Ford Motor Company, a 1990s BPR pioneer, streamlined its manufacturing processes and increased competitiveness.
Organizations of all sizes and industries reengineer business processes. First, determine BPR goals, then review the existing condition, identify gaps and opportunities, and process map.
Business Process Reengineering BPR definition
Effective leadership, change management, and continuous improvement are needed to implement business process reengineering. To enable new procedures and significant change, leaders, senior management, team members, and stakeholders must advocate the BPR project and give resources, support, and direction.

BPR for supply chain optimisation requires rigorous review and redesign of logistics, inventory management, and procurement. Rethinking procurement, introducing just-in-time inventory, optimising production schedules, and restructuring transportation and distribution networks are all possible supply chain overhauls. This could involve automated invoicing, payroll, or HR. This can boost efficiency, accuracy, and scalability, helping the company run better.
Benefits:
Shorter processing
Fewer mistakes

Process improvement for product development
BPR optimizes product development from inspiration to launch. This revamp evaluates and redesigns workflows, promotes cross-functional collaboration, and innovates employing new technology. This can include cross-functional teams to promote communication and knowledge sharing, agile methodologies to promote iterative development and rapid prototyping, and PLM software to streamline documentation and version control. These BPR activities help companies cut product development cycle times, respond faster to market demands, and offer creative, customer-focused goods.
Benefits:
Faster market entry
Increased innovation
Superior product quality
Technology infrastructure update In this age of rapid technological innovation, BPR is essential for companies updating their technology infrastructure. Migration to cloud-based solutions, adoption of AI and ML, and integration of heterogeneous systems improves data management and analysis, enabling more informed decision-making. New technologies boost performance, cybersecurity, and scalability, setting companies for long-term success.
Benefits:
Improved performance
Enhanced security
Increased innovation
Reduce staff redundancies
Many companies use BPR to reorganize and decrease redundancies in response to changing market dynamics and organizational needs. Engaging employees helps attract, develop, and retain outstanding talent. HR methods aligned with company values can boost employee productivity, satisfaction, and business performance.
Benefits:
Recruiting faster
Enhanced employee engagement
Allocating talent strategically
Examples of BPR: Case studies
BPR methodology and use cases work together to assist clients in the following case studies.
Bouygues leads French telecom AI
Bouygues Telecom, a major French communications provider, suffered with ageing systems that couldn’t handle many support calls. The result? Bouygues risked being displaced by competition as frustrated consumers waited in call lines. Bouygues’ pre-IBM Watsonx AI implementation with IBM was a blessing. Phase 1 preparations were ideal for phase 2’s AI integration into the telecom call centre.
Bouygues receives over 800,000 calls a month using IBM watsonx Assistant, and IBM watsonx Orchestrate frees agents from monotonous duties to focus on higher-value jobs. Pre- and post-call workloads dropped 30% for agents. In addition, 8 million customer-agent exchanges, previously partially analysed, have been accurately summarised for actionable insights.
These innovations have made Bouygues a customer care disruptor, reducing operational expenses by USD 5 million and putting them at the forefront of AI technology.
Customer-centric transformation at Finance of America fosters lifetime loyalty. Finance of America co-created with IBM to tailor their operations to consumers, delivering value for them and prospective homebuyers.
FOA expects to increase their customer base in three years after this transition. Revenue and income should rise by 50% and 80%, respectively, in the same timeframe. Finance of America is ready to offer debt advisory and other services that will build customer loyalty.
Business Process Reengineering
IBM business process reengineering analyses fundamental processes to identify and redesign areas for improvement. By stepping back, strategists can examine supply chain, customer experience, and finance. BPR services specialists can integrate new technologies and rework procedures to improve the business. They can help you create intelligent workflows that boost profits, eliminate redundancies, and cut costs.

Effortless PMP Renewal: Your Guide to Earning PDUs
Tumblr media
Introduction
Keeping up your Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a sign of your ongoing dedication to industry excellence and professional growth. But keeping track of PMP renewal PDUs can feel onerous given the hectic schedules that project managers frequently have to deal with. Fear not—this blog will help you every step of the way!
What are PDUs for PMP Renewal?
The acronym PDU denotes a Professional Development Unit. In order to keep their certification, PMP holders must complete 60 PDUs every three years according to PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. These PDUs guarantee that you remain current with the newest techniques, best practices, and trends in project management.
Obtaining PDUs for PMP Renewal
Fortunately, earning PMP renewal PDU may be done in a variety of methods to suit different learning tastes and styles. Here are a few well-liked choices:
Formal Education: Attending conferences, workshops, and courses that have been approved by PMP are great ways to obtain PDUs. In-depth study of project management principles is provided by these programs, along with beneficial networking possibilities.
Self-Directed Learning: You can accrue PDUs by reading books, articles, or PMI publications about project management. Don't forget to log the amount of time you spend reading and adjust your claims.
Volunteering: You can earn PDUs by lending your skills to project management-related events in your neighborhood or PMI chapter.
Experience: You can earn PDUs by reflecting on the lessons you've learned and documenting your project management experience.
Keep in mind the 8/8/35 Rule.
Your PMP renewal PDUs must adhere to a precise distribution across three categories, per PMI regulations:
Technical Proficiency (T): At least 8 PDUs. The primary project management methods, resources, and strategies are covered in this category.
Leadership Proficiency (L): At least 8 PDUs. This category includes courses on team development, negotiation, and communication.
At least 35 PDUs in strategic and business management (S). This wide category includes things like business acumen, stakeholder management, and risk management.
Streamlining PMP Renewal PDUs
Make a Plan: Don't run around looking for PDUs at the last minute. Distribute your educational activities across the course of the three-year cycle.
Monitor Your Development: Keep a log of all the PDUs you have earned, together with the dates, descriptions, and total number of PDUs you have obtained. For this, PMI provides a CCR online system.
Ask for Assistance: Authorized training providers and PMI chapters are excellent sources of information regarding PMP renewal PDU possibilities and requirements.
You may maintain your project management abilities and PMP certification current by adhering to these guidelines and making a commitment to ongoing professional development. This will keep you ahead of the curve
