heyy i don't know if you still accept prompts, but could I ask for “it’s okay. i promise you, i will be here when you wake up.” ಥ_ಥ for heartrende husbands <3
I MAY have already answered this somewhere but honestly I have no memory of this place.png so. Here we go again because I love all and any excuse to write HHs ✨
-
It's late at night, and Fedyor tosses and turns fitfully in the middle of his bed instead of succumbing to the very tempting idea of sleep. He's only just gotten back from a mission to the outer Southern border, and he's exhausted from days on horseback and weeks on a frugally furnished military encampment, his whole body aching and begging for him to give it a rest, but he cannot bring himself to do just that, not yet, as much as he wants to.
He is lucky to return home almost unscathed- but two of his squad members were not so fortunate, Lyudmila and Vladimir's lives currently hanging by a thread as the Healers worked to make sure their injuries would not prove fatal. Ivan has convinced him to live the infirmary after hours of pacing back and forth in it (hampering the Healers' work more than being of any help, but alas), and after a much-needed bath ("you're covered in mud and blood, Fedya, please") and a forced dinner, he's been coaxed into bed. Sleep, however, still seems a long way off.
"Fedya." Ivan whispers next to him, one arm wrapped around his husband's body and pulling him close until their bodies are flush together, and despite everything Fedyor feels his body instinctively relaxing against Ivan's warmth. "Please. You need to rest. You're exhausted."
"I know, I know." Fedyor murmurs, voice hoarse and tired and oh-so defeated, because he knows there's no point, but he can't help it- he's far too anxious to sleep. "It's just- thinking of them bleeding all over the snow, fighting for their lives-"
"I understand. I really do," Ivan cuts him off as gently as his natural gruffness allows, his fingers gently rubbing circles on Fedyor's chest, just above his heart, "but you're not helping them by staying awake. Please. If anything changes, I'll wake you up, I promise."
"Mhm." Fedyor huffs noncommittally, then gives in and closes his eyes almost against his will, exhaustion dragging his lids down. "But- Vanya? Could you... I'm sorry, I know you're tired too but- could you maybe stay with them? Just for a little? I'll sleep for a couple of hours and then I'll come take your place, it's just... I don't want them to be alone. Not like this."
Ivan sighs, but there's no malice in it, only a kind of resignation; he knows Fedyor like the back of his hand, and after so many years it's predictable that he'd ask something like that. His kindhearted husband, who stretches himself thin worrying over everyone, protecting them and taking care of them even when nobody's there to watch out for him. But, well- Ivan's there, now. He's no longer alone, left to shoulder everything on his own while on a mission.
"Of course, moya lyubov," Ivan murmurs softly, bending in and kissing the corner of Fedyor's freshly shaved jaw, "it's alright. I'll stay with them all night if it'll make you feel better."
"No, not all night, please." Fedyor says quickly, wincing as he feels a sting of shame for his selfishness but unable to hide how much in need he is of Ivan's comforting, anchoring presence. "If you can... When they're stable... Please come back? I... I don't want to be alone. Not for the entire night."
He can feel Ivan smile against his neck, where the latter's lips are still lingering, pressing soft kisses against his pulse point.
"Alright, Fedyenka. But before I go, I want you to sleep." Fedyor frowns, and Ivan kisses him again, this time on the crown of his head. "It's okay. I promise, I'll be here when you wake up. And everything -everyone- will be okay."
With that, Fedyor finally allows himself to submit to the exhaustion that's dragging him down like lead on his limbs. He hums something -a slurred 'I love you'- as Ivan gets up from the bed, preparing to go to the infirmary as asked.
By the time Ivan is out of the door, Fedyor is already snoring.

Getaway Car - Taylor Swift (I actually love pretty much every lyric in this song so it was hard to choose)
Well, he was running after us, I was screaming, "Go, go, go!"
But with three of us, honey, it's a sideshow
And a circus ain't a love story
And now we're both sorry (We're both sorry)

i like to think that even if Ivan in public tries to act like he’s cold, grumpy and expressionless even around Fedyor that his heart immediately flutters anytime Fedyor walks into a room or smiles or laughs or looks at Ivan and it makes Fedyor even more smug and a flirty lil shit cause only HE gets to know and it’s like a secret between the two of them and Fedyor loves the power that gives him
Look, their entire relationship (and I do mean ENTIRE) can be summed up in that one unused take from the party scene in 1x05. Let us demonstrate.
(Gifs by @liaduval.)
Tumblr media
Step 1: Fedyor tries to get Ivan to have a good time and eat a sweet. Ivan grumpily grabs his arm and tries to prevent him from doing this, for God knows what reason best known to Ivan. Would the world end, physically actually end, if you let your adoring husband feed you a pink cookie at a party, you goober.
Tumblr media
Step 2: Ivan confidently presumes the matter has been settled, No Sweet For Him, No Sirreebob. Look at him, still the toughest and scariest Heartrender in the whole Little Palace. Oh Saints, he hopes nobody he knows can see him right now.
(Spoiler alert you dweeb: EVERYBODY YOU KNOW CAN SEE YOU RIGHT NOW, AND THEY ARE ALL LAUGHING AT YOU.)
Tumblr media
Step 3: Fedyor dispenses with subtleties and just shoves the fucking cookie in Ivan's face like a piece of the wedding cake Ivan also tried to insist for about five seconds that they didn't need to have because Ivan hates fun. Of course he lost that argument, just as he is losing the question of whether he is going to shut the fuck up and eat the fucking cookie. This is the greatest defeat of his life.
Tumblr media
Step 4: Oh no. Cookie good. Husband cute. IVAN.EXE is feeling an emotion. It may be called happiness. This seems sus.
Tumblr media
Step 5: Husband, flushed with success, wants to tenderly wipe Ivan's chin and sample the cookie and enjoy (?!) The (?!?!) Evening?!?! Gorble gorble gorble?!?! Fine. Grab his wrist in a flirty fashion and pull him closer, so none of these unworthy peasants get ideas about him maybe trying to feed THEM cookies. All cookies are belong to Ivan.
Tumblr media
Step 6: Abject surrender. Fedyor cuddles achieved. Ivan loves this so much. He loves Fedyor so much. Aw doesn't everyone seem like they're having a nice time tonight. Life is beautiful.
The end.

oh and this one because i love pain: having to watch your lover die, as you’re restrained by the antagonist, unable to fight your way out of their grip, yet your eyes are glued on your lover’s
(@sparklingrainbowdragon you asked for this too so, tagging you here!)
I am very sorry in advance for this. Read below the cut!
--
"Sir. We have captured some of the deserters."
Ivan turned around to look at Galina, his second-in-command, as she walked into the strategy room. She looked rumpled, as if it's taken a lot out of her to capture the rogue Grisha. Possibly, Ivan thought with satisfaction, that meant her squad had caught a lot of them.
"How many?" He asked, and raised an eyebrow when he saw her shift her weight from one foot to the other. "Well?"
"Just... Just two of them, sir." Her heartbeat spiked up dangerously, and Ivan wondered if she was afraid he would reprimand her for not bringing in more captives.
"Well then." He said strictly, but not as cold as he would have usually been. "That's still something worth reporting to the General."
"Sir..." Galina swallowed. "Sir, one of then is- we- we have captured Fedyor Kaminsky."
Ivan stood very, very still. For a moment, he thought it was Galina's heart pounding against her chest like a caged bird trying to be freed; then he slowly realised, the sound of blood rushing in his ears, was his own.
He stalked past Galina and was out of the tent before he could check himself. Another of his Grisha threw a pitying glance at him, but Ivan hardly registered it. It didn't matter. None of it mattered.
Fedyor had been thrown into one of the Fabrikator-enforced cages, with a set of sturdy, iron cuffs clamped around his wrists. He sat slumped next to the second captive Grisha (an unconscious young girl who Ivan didn't recognise), but when he picked up Ivan's heartbeat his head shot up like a deer caught in the firelight. Those warm, brown eyes widened impossibly, and to Ivan's shock, he smiled.
"Vanya!" He said, his voice as soft and warm and loving as it had always been. Ivan nearly threw himself on the metal bars, his hand reaching through the gaps as if to reach Fedyor.
There was no need for words; their hearts did the talking. Besides, there wasn't anything they could have said. Not in this situation.
Fedyor didn't move, but he leaned closer to the bars. Belatedly, Ivan realised his right leg was bent in a strange angle underneath him. He cursed under his breath.
"Who did this to you?" He hissed, a spark of his old fierce protectiveness bubbling to the surface. Fedyor shrugged.
"One of the oprichniki decided I wasn't being cooperative enough while we were being transported here."
Of course he hadn't been. Ivan would have been proud of him had it not ended like that. He made a mental note of finding the oprichnik in question and tanning their arse so hard they wouldn't be able to sit for days.
"Does it hurt?" Ivan askes uselessly.
"A bit." The words were breathed out softly; Fedyor was good at masking his pain, but Ivan knew him too well. He knew he was in agony. He longed to lay his hand on Fedyor's knee, ease his pain, call a healer. But... He couldn't. And Fedyor wouldn't want his pity.
Ivan blinked the sudden wetness away and shifted his attention at the other Grisha. "And she?"
"Her name is Mariya." Fedyor said fondly, and for a moment Ivan felt a pang of jealousy. Then he realised Fedyor's heart beat for her the same way it had done for Nina. Protective, a mentor. His shoulders relaxed against his will.
"She was knocked unconscious by one of the Heartrenders. But she'll be okay, I think. Until..."
'Until we're sentenced to death and executed for high treason.' Ivan knew he would have to be the one to pass the sentence. The General wasn't going to let him off the hook for sentimentalities.
"Saints, Fedya." Ivan sat on the ground so he could be at level with the other man. "Why didn't you leave? Why didn't you go to Ketterdam or something?"
"I'm sorry, Vanya." Fedyor said softly, and sounded like he meant it. "I couldn't leave Alina. I couldn't leave Ravka to Kirigan's mercy."
Not the General's. Whatever respect Fedyor had once held for that man, had vanished into thin air. The worst was, Ivan found that he couldn't blame him.
"You should have left." Was all he said, uselessly. It didn't matter anymore. His husband was going to die. And he would be the cause of it.
Fedyor shifted awkwardly as if trying to pass one of his hands through the bars. It was hard with the cuffs on, but in the end he managed to slip his fingers out, towards Ivan's. Ivan quickly held his hand out to hold them.
"It's alright, Vanyusha." Fedyor whispered as their heads leaned close to each other. "We both made a choice. I'm glad to die for it."
"I'm not!" Ivan blurted. "Saints, I don't want to lose you!"
He already had, in a sense. But at least he'd known Fedyor was out there, alive, possibly happy. This... This was different. Permanent.
"I love you." Fedyor replied simply, his eyes twinkling in the twilight. "You know that, yeah?"
"Of course. And I love you too. More- More than anything else, Fedyenka." Ivan said softly. He didn't say more; he knew he wouldn't be able to keep his voice steady.
"Can you stay?" Fedyor asked. "If only for a little while. My leg hurts."
The simple admittance broke Ivan, along with the knowledge he couldn't do anything to help. He let out a choked sob, gripping Fedyor's cuffed hand tighter.
"I will. I promise I will."
---
"Mariya Abramova Svetaeva, and Fedyor Alexeivitch Kaminsky, you are hereby sentenced to death for the crime of high treason against the Second Army, the Grisha, and Ravka as a whole."
Kirigan's voice echoed like the drop of a hammer in the silence of the evening, that was only interrupted by Mariya's muffled whimpers as she cried. Fedyor spoke softly to her, trying to comfort her.
"Silence." The oprichnik that held him hissed, and punctuated the order with a swift kick on the Grisha's broken leg. Fedyor couldn't swallow back a short cry of pain as he nearly crumpled to the ground, and Ivan felt hot rage building up inside of him.
"Soldier." He snapped. "You will not attempt to harm the prisoners before the passing of the sentence."
The oprichnik muttered something about lovesickness and lack of conviction, but Ivan elected to ignore it. Kirigan cleared his throat to restore order.
"The sentence will be carried out immediately."
He announced. Ivan felt his stomach drop to his shoes- no, surely they'd have more time, surely he could have another moment with Fedyor-
"Aleksandra," Kirigan turned to the lead Inferni "build a pyre in the middle of the camp."
For a second, Ivan wasn't sure what the General had meant. Then it dawned on him, and he swore he could feel the ground crumpling from under his feet.
"Sir, that's not-"
"An order is an order, Ivan. They do not deserve a Grisha death. Rather, they will be treated to a druskëlle sentence."
Mariya must have finally realised what was happening, because she let out a heartbreaking wail and strained against the guard that held her.
"No!" She screamed. "No, please, sir I repent, I repent-"
The General ignored her and turned around. "Ivan, I trust you will carry out what needs to be done. It's what's best for Ravka, and for the Grisha. No sentimentalities."
Ivan didn't know what the feeling building up within him was; he had never felt anything like it. Too cold to be called rage, too powerful to be called fear. All he could see was Fedyor chained to a wooden pole, screaming and crying for mercy as the flames consumed him. Looking at him, those brown eyes filled with agony.
Something inside Ivan broke.
Distantly, he heard himself roaring as he hurled himself against Kirigan's back, hands wrapping around the other man's neck. Grisha powers be damned, Ivan was going to kill the bastard with his own two hands-
But Kirigan flipped him around easily, and suddenly his back was pressed against the other man's chest, his hands held painfully behind him. He couldn't move a finger.
"Careful, Ivan." The General hissed in his ear. "Or you will share your lover's fate."
"I'd rather burn than side with someone who would kill us like the druskëlle!" Ivan snapped, straining against Kirigan's grip. "You are a disgrace to the Grisha. To think I believed in you-"
"I am only doing what is best for all of us. Our personal feelings don't matter." Kirigan's voice was cold, detached. As if he had killed whatever warmth remained inside him long ago. He probably had.
"Vladimir." He said to the guard that held Fedyor. "Kill him now."
"No!" Ivan shouted. "No- Fedya, Fedyenka- no!"
Fedyor's eyes met his. Impossibly, he smiled; that damned, irresistible smile that Ivan had fallen for the first time he'd ever seen it.
"It's alright, Vanya." He said easily as the oprichnik fumbled for his dagger. "I'll wait for you, yes? We'll see each other again."
He sounded so calm, as if he was just leaving on a long mission rather than being executed. Ivan sobbed, sagging against Kirigan's grip.
"Vanya-" Fedyor grunted as the oprichnik pulled him back, the cold steel of an ornate dagger pressing against his throat. "Look at me, my love. Look at me."
Ivan forced himself to look. The knowledge that this would be the last time he heard Fedyor's voice, saw him alive and well and smiling, shattered him. But Fedyor kept smiling, his eyes filled with love and tears.
"Fedyor." Ivan whispered. Fedyor closed his eyes.
A moment later, the dagger sliced his throat, and blood painted the ground in front of him red.

I respect your choice to live our discord through Buff, whose retelling are much more filtered and organised than the real deal. But for fun, I wrote you giving someone a tour through the discord:
"Why, yes. We are the fivan fandom grandmas and this is our discord full of screaming, laughing, crying and cuddling grandchildren. The walls are plastered with @buffaluff and @liaduval 's fivan art. I am dating a very talented artist. "Fire on fire" is playing in the background. Now, over here is the writer's corner. There's the one who whips out chapter after chapter of a wonderful "Ivan and Fedyor since they first meet as kids And also this is going to make you love Pavel and Polina so much" fic. These two over there have a lot of WIPs and each one is amazing. Hey, are you working on updates for- Completely new fic ideas? I'm sure they're gonna be awesome! Don't mind the crying one over there, they are producing super emotional fics where they write fivan into other grishaverse books. Look at this one handing out heart-shaped notes with comments to our creators, what a champ! Oh, yeah, that thing over there is the shrine they made for my works. Kids are adorable. Every time someone sees I updated, they yell about it to the others and they all gather in front of it and cry. That one is the adults' room. But a surprisingly large amount of their talks is about dreading professional emails. Now, this wild wall of sticky notes is the headcanon wall. It makes sense to them and sometimes they forget these aren't actually canon. Shh, don't step on the people who are taking a nap on the floor and are not super active, they are also loved and appreciated. That one is the magical crystal ball where they gaze into different fivan timelines and universes. The possibilities are endless and exciting. And finally, here is the corner with the sunflowers where we can all just sit and chill next to our pets. Now, would you like some tea?"
Hahaha, bless. I am sure that this is very accurate and I deeply appreciate all you young and energetic chilluns, even if I am too old and weary to actually turn up and join in the fun. My fellow fandom grandmother @buffaluff does give me the highlights from time to time, yes, and I am always like "aw bless their hearts."
So yes, your creaky old fandom grandmother does love you and hopes that y'all have fun and play nicely over there. You are always welcome to come over here for cookies and to tell me about your day while I knit you a sweater or something. Ahem. 👵

SOO... RED ROAD! My sister and I just finished watching this amazing show! It's really good and you should check it out. It is very well written with an interesting variety of characters. The plotline is captivating and the cast is awesome. I mean they have Jason Momoa... (he looks great as always and plays a fascinating antagonist) It is definitly my new obsession and I am emotionally compromised because of the season finale. :c I really hope it gets renewed for a third season!! Check it out! You won't regret it.

for the angsty promp: ‘‘we can’t be together. it’s too dangerous. you understand that, right?’‘
more druskelle!Ivan coming right up for this... and also my apologies, because angst.
“We can’t be together. It’s too dangerous. You understand that, right?”
Ivan looked into Fedyor’s warm chocolate eyes, his breath hitching at the back of his throat as he detected real anger in them; he had never seen this emotion on his lover’s face before.
“No, Ivan, I don’t!” The Grisha snapped, and Ivan was able to detect the threat of tears behind the intensity of his tone. “What are you so afraid of?”
“Everything!” Ivan shouted back. With a roar of frustration, he whirled around and punched the trunk of the nearest tree. Snow fell off the branches and rained down on him and Fedyor, but he didn’t care.
“Everything.” He repeated, this time with much less conviction than before. “What my people will do to me if they realise I’ve been tumbling with a Grisha. What they will do to you.”
“I’m not afraid!” Fedyor declared, stepping closer. “I would fight a horde of druskelle for you, Ivan! I- “
Don’t say it. Please, don’t say it. I won’t be able to turn away if you do.
“I love you.” Fedyor breathed out softly, almost in a whisper. Ivan’s heart contracted and he rested his forehead against the rough bark he had just punched.
“And I will do anything for you.” Fedyor continued, calmer. Almost as if he knew he’d won. Perhaps he did- he was a Heartrender after all. “If you let me.”
His hand came to rest on Ivan’s shoulder, and even beneath the layers of cloth that separated them, the latter could feel the warmth of his touch.
“Fedyor-“ Ivan paused, trying to collect his thoughts, but it was such a hard task with this man next to him, so close Ivan could feel the heat radiating from his body, the soft brush of his breath against the back of his neck. He found that there existed no words within him capable to describe what he was feeling. After a short span of silence, Fedyor let out a tired sigh and took a step back.
“I understand.” He said quietly, trying -and failing- to disguise the bitterness in his voice. “All this was to you, was a tumble with a Grisha. Nothing more than toying with the enemy, yes? You know, your lot call us witches, but in this case you’re the one that fooled me. I hope it was worth whatever promotion your exploit will gain you.”
He turned and stalked away from Ivan, stumbling through the snow yet showing no signs of slowing. Ivan felt his heart twisting as if a knife had been plunged into his insides, tearing him apart. This wasn’t right- but he couldn’t see a way to tell Fedyor that he truly did care for him. That this was so much more than a tumble with the enemy. That… Djel, he loved him. He wanted to be with him more than anything in this world or the next, but there was no way for them to do so. There was no place in the continent, where they could be together safely. And if they ran away… they’d always have to look over their shoulders with fear and regret. They would never be truly safe, no matter how far they ran off to.
And so, Ivan fought off every single instinct that yelled for him to follow after Fedyor, to ask him to stay. He only stood by the tree, silent tears falling on the snow as Fedyor walked away for good.
