Week 3 Recs: Right on Time

It's 2018 and Jesse and Hanzo are both living in Tucson, AZ on second chances. Hanzo is on the cusp of recognition as a musician after his life in Japan is run aground by a devastating accident, and Jesse has chiseled out a life of purpose and achievement after a rough childhood. Together, they will come to understand how misfortune and loneliness can end, giving gifts they would never have found any other way.

Day 3 thoughts on 'Harry's House'

I started jotting down my thoughts in response to this ask, and found I couldn't stop. You didn't ask for this, Anon (or anyone!), so I'll put most of it under a cut.

Here are my day 3 thoughts on Harry's House...

I’m obsessed with the instrumentation on this album. It’s immaculate! In every moment there is something interesting and surprising going on, right where it should be. Not a note out of place, none of it feels indulgent, none of it feels overdone. It’s so crisp yet it never feels sterile, every chord has a warmth to it. I would love, love, love if Harry, Tom & Tyler did a breakdown of the sound … I want to know everything!

God knows I love a guitar, but I don’t miss their prominence on this album because there’s so much going on. It makes me appreciate whenever the guitars do crash into place on Daylight or the Grapejuice intro even more.

I also adore how Harry is using his voice as instrumentation throughout. All those little adlibs and yowls and screams and samples. I thought it was really interesting how Harry spoke to Zane Lowe about not focusing on being ‘a singer’ on this album. It’s true that on most songs his vocals don’t feel like the main event – there’s no vocal grandstanding, no show-off stuff.

The high, light vocals he’s using throughout give me the impression of intimacy, like we’re hearing him the way he might sound when he’s writing the songs. I could be entirely wrong, but I can imagine him singing in this light, under-stated way when he’s noodling a melody in a voice note to himself.

But I wonder if listeners who aren’t familiar with Harry’s singing style would have the same impression. In the Atlantic’s review of the album the writer spoke about him sounding detached and removed throughout, and I can see how some listeners might get that impression.

I also can’t lie, I miss his full-bodied rock-style vocals. I love the moments when he switches it up within a song, like on Satellite or Daydreaming. There are a few moments – like when Keep Driving ends and Satellite begins – when I long for him to sing old-school Harry style. But not enough to want to change the individual songs. They’re perfect as they are.

And that’s what live shows are for! I hope he switches up his singing style for some of the songs when he plays them live and showcases that gorgeously warm-toned rasp that I love so much. If One Night Only in NY is anything to go by, the crowds at his concerts are so damn loud that this light, delicate style might not always translate.

I also feel so glad for Harry (and proud – is that weird?) that he feels free to experiment with his singing style in this way. Like, he KNOWS he has a gorgeous voice. He’s sung a million times in that full-blooded rock-tinged way. He doesn’t need to prove it to anyone. He’s exploring other ways of singing and it sounds so intuitive.

And those harmonies! I think one of my favourite things is hearing him harmonise with himself on Boyfriends and Little Freak. His understanding of how to create melody is something I’m in awe of, it seems so effortless. Can’t wait to geek out over those harmonies separated from the music if we get acappella sound files.

This is a no-skip record me. Fine Line was cohesive as an album but - and I won’t go on about it! 😊 - it had TPWK. And Canyon Moon always felt like filler to me. This album is such a groove, such a well-balanced journey, that I wouldn’t dream of switching up the order or skipping a song.

After nearly 3 days of listening on a loop, there are two categories of songs that I’m being drawn to more than others. One is the impossible-to-resist trio of bops that is Music For A Sushi Restaurant, Late Night Talking and Daydreaming. They make me so HAPPY! And then the songs that I keep hitting replay on whenever they come ‘round are Little Freak, Keep Driving and Satellite.

I don’t know if I’d say they’re my favourite tracks because I’ve had more time with As It Was and Boyfriends pre-release, so those two tracks are not as impactful now as they may be in the long-term. But these six are the songs that I’m adoring the most right now.

On the other end of the (very short) scale are Grapejuice, Love Of My Life and Cinema. Grapejuice is a lovely little tune and I love the McCartney-esque vibe, but it doesn’t really stick with me or make me want to replay it over and over. Same with Love Of My Life. A nice song, but not outstanding and to me it’s not the best closer (imagine ending on Satellite! Too similar to the ending of Fine Line perhaps?)

I’m curious to know how or if my feelings towards Cinema will change. It’ll either really start to irritate me (that “you pop” section at the end has the potential to be really annoying to me – right now I’m teetering on the edge, and once a tune or sound irritates me there’s no going back), or I’ll come to love it via the live version.

I thought Cinema sounded great at One Night Only NY - such a groove. On the record it feels a bit like, “Do we really need a Harry Styles version of this kind of track?”. Don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly produced and the guitar is amazing. But I suppose I feel like Harry doesn’t bring anything to a groove like this that hasn’t been done by others over the decades. Also, how can I feel anything but ambivalent about a song that prominently contains the lyric “you pop when we get intimate”? 😁

And that brings me to one of the drawbacks of the album. For an insanely sexy dude, Harry writes some spectacularly unsexy lyrics. “A wet dream just dangling” is something that nobody – NOBODY – ever needs to hear him sing. The mental image it conjures, jesus 🤢 I also find “you’re getting yourself wet for me” so cringy, I just can’t buy it from Harry Styles. Nope.

These awful lyrics are mercifully few, but they are jarring little moments on songs that I otherwise adore. The opening lines of Little Freak feel so out of place to me on such a beautiful song. “Little freak, jezebel” - such an unpleasant way to start the song. I don’t know what Harry’s intention was with those lines – was it intended to be abrupt? Maybe a little risqué, or even jokey? Or was it a direct reference to something personal shared between him and the woman he is singing about? We’ll never know, because Harry will never tell us.

And that’s the thing. Harry doesn’t divulge the intention behind most of his lyrics. And without even the broadest context, we can only take these lyrics as we hear them. And how I hear this particular lyric is Harry introducing this woman, whose 'delicate point of view' he later tenderly pays homage to, as a little freak and a jezebel, ‘a wet dream just dangling’. To me, that’s a shame.

It’s the same in Keep Driving, another of my favourites. I really like this lyric overall, it’s very effective in conjuring up a twisted roadtrip with an increasingly surreal and disorienting litany of things he’s fleetingly experiencing or observing, interspersed with the cozily domestic (I love “Hash brown/egg yolk/I will always love you”). And then he drops “choke her with a sea view” and I’m like – stop right there. No.

I don’t know what compelled Harry to include that lyric but I fucking hate it. I don’t want to hear any man singing about choking a woman in an offhand manner without context. Especially a singer who resolutely leaves his lyrics up to the listener’s interpretation.

Elsewhere, I think his writing has vastly improved from his earlier songs. All that repetition on HS1 and Fine Line is gone. Songs feel fully-formed, ideas are seen through. Even on songs which have relatively minimal lyrics, like Satellite, the atmosphere is evoked in those first few lines and then the music takes over to communicate and escalate the emotion. God, I love it!

And it’s so interesting to see Harry branching out into story-telling like on Matilda. This is a perfectly-formed song, I’m not surprised that it’s resonating so strongly with so many people. In four minutes he sets up a character, develops a story and a point of view, and resolves it beautifully.

These are the types of songs that take on a life outside the songwriter and singer; that connect with listeners without the need for context or setting, that speak to the most painful parts of us and our loved ones, and offer comfort. I’m really excited to know if he’ll do more of this type of songwriting.

So – apparently, I had thoughts. I’m going to post this without re-reading and will see if anything changes in the coming weeks and months of living in Harry’s House.

I’m born on a pretty obscure holiday, Yama no Hi [Mountain Day]!

Type AB.

⚪ Height:

170cm.

I am often told that I am taller than people might’ve thought, whenever I come close to them!

⚪ Personality:

My pace.

I’m pretty dazed, and I’m slow when it comes to things like walking or eating. I like going out by myself and can go anywhere on my own, and I partake in activities such as shopping, watching movies or doing karaoke!

⚪ Special skills:

Volleyball and calligraphy.

I played volleyball while in junior and senior high school, and I stood in the position of center! [a player who is positioned between the two sets of players, near the middle of the court, responsible for passing the ball to their teammates and blocking opponents from getting past them]

⚪ Things that I like:

Clothes and cosmetics.

I have loved clothes ever since I was a child and I am now studying fashion at university. In the final screening, I showed up wearing a jacket I had made in class!

I also like looking into new and trendy cosmetics, and recently, I’ve really been enjoying talking about such things with hair and make-up artists!

I also like watching anime!

Recently I’ve been watching Oshi no Ko!

But I watch quite a lot of anime while skimming through it, so I have trouble remembering the names of the characters、、、

Fruit and sushi!

I like all kinds of fruit, I eat it everyday!

When it comes to sushi, I always order engawa and salmon!

Whenever I go out to eat by myself, I’m always on the lookout for sushi restaurants!

⚪ My boom [things that have become a habit/trendy to her in particular]

I collect postcards,

I keep a household account book,

I also use apps meant to help with studying English.

Firstly, I like going to museums and exhibitions centered around certain people or characters, and I often buy postcards on my way home!

On the other hand, I forgot to cancel the free trial for the English study app I tried, and I ended up paying for an entire year’s worth.

I wasn’t going to continue practicing, but otherwise, it would have been a waste, so now I use it everyday、、、、（ ; ; ）

⚪ Favourite colour:

Blue.

I’m happy because our group’s colour is blue, too!

⚪ Favourite season:

Summer.

I like it because so many events that I like take place then, you get to see fireworks and take part in festivals ☺

⚪ Favourite type of music:

J-POP!

I mostly listen to idol songs, pretty much, so I always sing such songs when doing karaoke!

I also like Japanese rock music and have been to a few festivals!

Finally, I’ll tell you why I decided to take this audition!

Three years ago, I fell in love with idols and, the more I supported them, the more I felt a strong desire to stand on the same stage as them.

However, at the time, I was around 19-years-old and I thought I was too old to become an idol.

In my third year of university, I auditioned for an idol group I liked.

I was lucky enough to be able to audition for a group I was fond of, but in the end, I was rejected.

After that, I gave up on the dream of becoming an idol and I started job-hunting.

At the end of last year, however, I was able to see my favourite idols live for the first time at a festival, and I was so moved by the fact that the people I had always loved were right in front of me. I found myself wishing I could have stood on stage and performed like them, so much so, that I couldn’t stop crying during the overture and the first few songs.

At that moment, I realized how certain I was that I wanted to become an idol.

Later on, I found out that an audition for an official rival was going to be held, and I knew I would regret not taking part, so I joined the audition.

Given how I have been supported by my idols during difficult times,

I also want to be someone who can support many people’s hearts and minds.

And, I really want to do my best from now on, so that people will think ‘I’m glad I’m supporting you!’. I will do my best to be worthy of hearing those words.

The 3 models I made are wearing all black salon uniforms. Dressing in all black takes the focus off of the stylists and puts it onto the clients where it should be. All of their other outfits are made with their favorite colors in mind and are heavily themed with a 1980's vibe because I'm kind of stuck in that era because the music, fashion, and hair were so cool... still cool. -Rockin Key's Slice of Paradise Concert Theater - This is the largest new venue. This is where the biggest names in the sim music industry come to perform. It's always the hottest ticket in town.

-Rhapsody Twin Movie Theatre - Sims can now take their family, or a date, to the movies! The Plaza Twin Theatre has a full service concession stand, and the movie popcorn machine is always popping to make sure the popcorn is hot & fresh. To wash the popcorn down they also serve fountain sodas, and there's a variety of candy to choose from. In each theater for all sims' comfort, they'll find recliner chairs with built in soda & popcorn holders. It's stadium seating so no worries about someone's head being in a sim's line of view while enjoying their movie. And for the kiddies there are booster seats available.

-Sunny Sushi Bar - Indoor & outdoor dining w/ live music nightly by Toffee Butler (piano) or The Dunk-a-noos (steel drum band), located next to the marina. -Moody's Marina - Here sims can buy/own a luxury yacht w/ hot tub & full bar. Yachts can leave port and travel the area. Sims can fish off of a yacht or they can now charter a fishing boat.

-Lil' Sponges Daycare Academy - Sims can now drop off their children at this Nautical themed, state of the art Daycare Academy for ages infant - 5 years old. This isn't just a babysitting service; as an Academy it has licensed teachers to teach age appropriate lessons while keeping track of each child's growth and progress in their speech, fine motor skills, gross motor skills and social skills. By the time these little sponges are ready to move on to Kindergarten at 5 yrs old, many will be able to skip right into 1st grade.

NEW CAREERS

-Hair Stylist This career is for the sim that believes it's all about the hair. Once a customer has the right hairstyle, anything is possible! Hair Stylists can wash hair, cut hair, color/highlight hair, perm or straighten hair & blow dry hair. Top level Supreme Hair Stylists unlocks hair extensions that come in long, medium, short, & extra short (to add bangs/fringe to most hair styles already in the game) with each length also being in straight, wavy, curly, or braided styles, each available in all colors for both females and males, age teen-elder. Depending on the hairstylist's level will be the outcome of the hairstyle given, so sometimes with lower levels there may be mistakes and corrections needed that result in comedic reactions by sims/hairstylists.

*Supreme Hair Stylist Bonus: Becoming a CELEBRITY HAIR STYLIST: Once a sim reaches top level as a Supreme Hair Stylist, they will begin to gain notoriety and in time will reach "celebrity" hairstylist status. Once this is achieved they will start to receive celebrities/rockstars as clients, be asked to go on location to music video sets, and backstage at concerts, to work on musicians'/celebs' hair, and they'll hob-nob with the rich and famous. Also, a celebrity hair stylist can be Owner & Creative Director of a very successful hair salon w/ barely any problems. They'll even be given the opportunity to own a chain of hair salons if the first one is successful.

-Nail Technician/Artist

A career for sims that believe a person can't be their very best without well manicured hands and feet. Services provided, how well and how quickly done, depends on the level of Nail Tech/Artist. Lower levels may either take longer or make mistakes such as wrong nail color or spills water on the client. Once a higher level is reached the Nail Tech adds Artist to their repertoire and unlocks fun nail art & nail accessories. When a sim visits a Nail Artist the prices are higher, appointment is quicker, and you get to choose the color(s) of nail polish used on the sim, along with a paint design (flowers/hearts/holiday themes) and/or nail accessories such as glitter or rhinestones.

-Esthetician For the sim that sees other sims as walking Barbie & Ken dolls and helps them reach that status through ridding them of any and all body hair through artful waxing. Starting level can only provide facials, moustache waxing, & eyebrow waxing/shaping. They also provide skin treatments afterwards to sooth the red hot burning newly waxed fresh skin after peeling off a layer with the hot wax. Clients are taken to a private area (behind a curtain or door) for body waxing. Bikini waxing for female/male adult-elder is unlocked once an Esthetician reaches the top level as an Elite Esthetician.

(Note on how I see the Esthetician career as working in the game... Once an Esthetician reaches "elite" level they can start body waxing clients, so the nude sim laying on the table will have blurred privates, same as when they shower, but we'll know the spot the Esthetician is waxing as the sim will make some kind of horrible scream and/or face due to the wax being ripped off which makes for funny game play. You see it too, right?

-Hair Salon Owner & Creative Director This career is the ultimate goal for most Hair Stylists... a dream come true. This career is best suited for the sim who has achieved the top level as Supreme Hair Stylist because they know what they're doing, what the salon needs, and more importantly what their employees and clients need. Even with all of their experience and knowledge in the hair industry, they still hit bumps in the road and make mistakes. Hair Salon Owner & Creative Director may also work well for other salon employees after a sim reaches either the Finest Nail Artist level or the Elite Esthetician level. They will run into a few surprise bumps that the Supreme Hair Stylist knows how to avoid, but they have a better chance of success than a sim that has no salon experience. With that being said a sim without prior salon experience who can afford it, can be a Hair Salon Owner & Creative Director; however, that sim will have a much more difficult time in being the salon owner & creative director with more mishaps, unhappy employees, angry clients, and more stress than the Supreme Hair Stylist that becomes an owner & creative director. Their chance of failure with the salon closing down is 50% higher than that of a salon employee & 75% higher risk than that of a Supreme Hair Stylist. Top level for Hair Salon Owner & Creative Director opens up the opportunity for them to expand into a Hair Salon Chain Owner.

-Professional Contemporary Music Artist This career is for the sim that wants to be a Music Idol & Pop Culture Icon. Those that seek after a career as a professional contemporary music artist include sims that have dreamt about success as either a solo pop or hip-hop artist, or as a member of a rock band, or a member in a popular boy or girl band. Their journey begins when they begin to practice singing and/or playing instruments. As their skill increases, they'll gain notoriety performing in venues around town until finally a big music manager contacts them after hearing them perform in a local bar and offers them an audition. If the audition goes well, they'll then be offered a contract with choices such as music genre & solo artist or in a band to begin their musical career. Once the contract is signed, the sim will start receiving dates for live concert gigs that you will be able to follow and play sim through the onstage performances as well as the backstage after parties. At top level the sim will become known as a "King/Queen of Music" which will unlock many new items made for a rock/pop superstar including clothing, jewelry, big hairstyles, & other rockstar items themed after 1980's musical legends that are known for their music & iconic fashion styles such as George Michael (Wham!), Prince, Bon Jovi, Tina Turner, Cher, Run DMC, Heart, Janet Jackson, DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, Cyndi Lauper, & Boy George (Culture Club).

FINICKY - A sim with this trait is extremely hard to please & they change their minds often too. Finicky sims are the customers that businesses, hair stylists, & servers have nightmares about. They want things exactly like they want it, and if it's not to their preferences, they'll throw a hissy fit refusing to pay for services. At the hair salon they're the client that will ask for a certain hair style or nail style, and halfway through they'll change their mind or when finished burst out in tears saying they don't like it. If they place an order over the phone, or in a restaurant, there's a good chance by the time it arrives, they'll no longer want it causing them to pout, complain & refuse to pay for it. If they enjoy an activity one day, they may hate it the next. If they have a romantic interest, they may lose interest faster than other sims. They may even become the runaway bride or groom. Their likes & dislikes change often because they are FINICKY.

LEECH - A sim with this trait is outgoing, cheerful, & charming so making a new friend, or romantic connection, is easy for them & quicker than other sims, but once another sim befriends them they will become the center of the LEECH sim's world. A LEECH will only want to do things with that one friend or love interest, and they will expect the same from that friend or love interest. They want to do everything with ONLY that 1 person, and can show up at any time, & anywhere, uninvited to be with them. When not with their friend, they're calling them on the phone, even if they're at work. And if they see their 1 friend/love interest being friendly with anyone else, they will act out in sneaky jealous "accidental" actions towards the other sim who is "stealing" their friend's attention away from the LEECH, such as spilling a drink on them, or bumping into them hard enough to knock them out of the way, or causing them to trip, or pulling their chair out from under them. A LEECH will talk to anyone that will listen to them, and when they're really lonely they will visit their favorite hangouts to talk to the employees knowing as a customer they have to talk to them and be nice. The LEECH is often a Rockin Key business' nightmare client because they tend to hang around bothering the employees or other customers looking for attention. Some leeches even ask for free things like a drink. The LEECH doesn't have the same obsession with their family members, only with that 1 special friend/love interest which may be their spouse. With family members the LEECH is known for inviting themselves to dinner, or on outings (and of course leeches always forget their wallet no matter who they're with); however, when they make that 1 special friend or love interest their family is relieved because they get a break from the LEECH that will now come around much less often, if ever, while in the other relationship. Breaking off a relationship with the LEECH is not pretty either. They will throw huge fits no matter where or how the break up happens. And don't be surprised if the sim that broke it off now finds themselves being watched with a telescope or being followed when they go out as the LEECH has a very hard time letting go & may pop up at any time just to say "hi" w/ a creepy smile as they walk away. They also may find that their mail has been stolen when the electric is suddenly shut off due to non-payment since the LEECH out of anger stole their mail, though they're unable to prove it to the police.

WALLFLOWER- This sim is a romantic at heart, creative, super sweet & friendly, but has trouble approaching other sims, especially strangers because they're shy. They long to socialize with other sims & enjoy going out on the town to different venues/events hoping to make a friend, or meet that special someone; however, once they arrive, they will stay seated and will not approach sims becoming a WALLFLOWER while they wait for sims to approach them. Once they become friends with a sim, they're charming, super sweet, & a bit more chatty, but still more quiet & agreeable than most sims. Being shy they are the exact opposite of a leech as they will often pay for others, and wait for their friends, or family, to call them to make plans as they don't want to bother anyone. If a sim they care about takes too long to contact them they become gloomy or will sit at home & cry alone wondering why that sim doesn't like them. When it comes to business owners, the WALLFLOWER is a favorite customer/client as they're so sweet they're always happy/content with the service provided for them.

COUCH POTATO - They live to entertain themselves from a chair or a couch whether at home, a friend's house, or a night out. They tire much faster than other sims & have to sit down more often if out and about. One of their favorite things to do is sit and watch tv which they also enjoy blogging about their favorite shows and movies. If sim also has an outgoing trait they can often be found out at venues that have entertainment, or activities that require or encourage sitting such as a bar, movie theater, park bench, laying out by a pool, library, or hair salon. These venues look forward to visits from their COUCH POTATO customers/clients as they tend to stay awhile, spending more money, so they don't have to get up and go back home after coming all this way. The thought, or sight, of physical exercise quickly drains their energy, and they may need to stop for a power nap whether they are at home, a friend's house, or out on the town.

Anger? Red, or a really bright red-orange.

Confusion? Gray.

Inspiration? Sky blue. Both word and color give off calming vibes to me.

How often do you...

Brush your teeth? Once or twice a day.

Eat breakfast? Twice a week, during weekends; though sometimes I’ll end up skipping it for an entire week altogether.

Check your email? I literally never check my personal email anymore after having gotten hired, but I know I should quit that habit and check it every once in a while just in case an intriguing opportunity might come my way. My work email is a different story; I have to use it everyday. I open my emails even during weekends so that when I report to my shift on Monday, my Gmail won’t look as clogged.

Go to the mall? When quarantine protocols loosened up a bit I used to go either on Saturdays or Sundays for some me time as well as some much-needed time away from the house, for the sake of my mental health and sanity. But now that we’re going through another surge in cases, no one’s allowed to go out again and malls are back to just keeping the essential stores open.

Go to the beach? A few times a year, at least before the pandemic. I haven’t been to the beach since 2019.

Play card games? Only happens once in a blue moon, when I get together with friends and someone happens to bring a deck of cards. This isn’t a usual occurrence with any of my friend groups, though.

Have at least 20 minute phone calls? Never. I have 20-minute Google Meet and Zoom calls instead.

Paint your nails? They are never painted.

Wish you were happier? Every now and then.

Did you ever want to be...

A veterinarian? Yes, when I was younger. I once stumbled upon an interview with a horse vet on one of my kid’s almanacs and thought what they did was so cool.

An astronaut? Yup, definitely became a big obsession of mine at one point in my childhood. I still think it would be cool to go to outer space and should the opportunity ever become accessible in my lifetime, I wouldn’t want to miss out on it.

An artist? Not really. I knew from the get go I wasn’t meant to be one.

A school teacher? I would guess yes, but I definitely wasn’t as interested in teaching compared to being an astronaut or like a firefighter.

A housewife? Lmfao yeah. This was the answer I would give when I was like 8 up until I was probably 10 and I knew it stressed out my Asian mother big time. My grandpa got a kick out of it, though.

A firefighter? Yes. This was up there with astronaut.

A princess? Not so much.

A lawyer? I definitely considered law for a brief period, but it was already during my latter college years. There wasn’t enough time to mull over it. But hearing all the law school horror stories from my friends kind of made me relieved I didn’t push through with it; I knew I wasn’t passionate enough about law to want to go through all the hardships that come with law school, so I was fine letting that dream go, and still am.

A doctor? This was never a dream of mine.

Would you consider yourself...

Materialistic? Yes.

Pessimistic? It comes out occasionally, but I don’t think it’s a main trait of mine that people would generally see me as.

Avoidant? Not so much. I can be shy and anxious sometimes but I get over it at some point.

Sarcastic? Only occasionally. I wouldn’t say I speak the language.

Talkative? Definitely not. I hate being in the spotlight, and whenever it’s my turn to share a story or talk in a group I usually have the tendency to rush through it or make it as short as possible so as to return the spotlight on someone else. I’ve always been more of a listener.

Strange? Maybe not strange but weird to an extent?

Intelligent? I guess in some ways.

Lucky? In some ways I am, but I also got handed the short end of the stick in other contexts.

Talk to someone you care about? Probably. I talk to at least one friend a day.

Go to work? Yep, I’ll finally be going back to work since the Holy Week break is over. My workaholic self felt kinda unsettled with all the free time, so I’m actually kinda relieved.

Go to school? I’m not in school anymore.

Be in a different city? Nope, it’ll be working from home for me like usual. We were initially allowed to book visits to the office if we really needed to go there to pack some goodies and stuff, but because of re-heightened Covid protocols our admin has once again prohibited anyone to go there for the meantime.

Read a book? I highly doubt it. I haven’t read any in months.

Watch a movie? Nope. It’ll be a Monday coming from a 4-day break, so it will be incredibly busy tomorrow as there would be a lot to catch up on.

Go to a dentist/orthodontist appointment? No, I won’t.

Do your laundry? My parents probably will seeing as our hamper was nearly full the last time I checked.

True or False: Family...

I have two brothers or more. I only have one brother.

My mom lives with me. This is technically true but isn’t phrased right in my case. I’m currently living with my parents.

My grandparent(s) live with me. No, we moved out of our duplex (where I did use to live with my grandparents) well over a decade ago.

I have half-siblings. Don’t have any.

I am the oldest in my family. Eldest child, that is.

I am an only child. I have two other siblings.

I have 15 cousins I can name off the top of my head. Easily. My first cousins are less than 15 in total, but I know a good number of my second and third cousins as well so this is a cakewalk.

The nearest Aunt or Uncle lives less than an hour away from me. The aforementioned duplex we moved out of is just at the next village; we didn’t move too far so that we can continue visiting them.

I am allergic to chocolate. I’m not, fortunately. I’m not crazy about chocolate but I’d be pretty miserable if I could never have it either.

I like vegetables more than fruit. Infinitely more, hahaha. I hate fruits.

I have tried pizza dipped in ranch sauce. Ranch isn’t a very common dressing where I’m from, so it’s not usually offered in restaurants. Given the chance, though, I’d definitely try my pizza with ranch at least once.

I've never eaten kiwi fruit. True, but then again I’ve never eaten most fruits and don’t plan to.

I love junk food.

I love to try new food.

Ketchup goes best with fries (chips). I don’t like ketchup and barely put it on anything.

I like fried rice. I haven’t met an Asian who doesn’t like fried rice.

Pairs of shoes do you have? A little over 10, maybe? I don’t feel like counting in my head rn.

Times have you had alcohol? Like, ever since I started drinking when I was 18? I never kept track lmao but if I would guess, maybe around 50-60 times? I’m not a regular drinker; I drink probably once or twice a month at most.

Windows in your house/apartment are open? I know my parents and sister have their windows open at the moment, so that’s 2. Mine are usually open as well, but I’ve turned on my aircon so I’ve closed them for the night.

Kids do you have/want to have? I’d cut it off a a maximum of 3 kids, but having just 1 would already be so nice.

Minutes does it take to get from your home to school or work? I work from home, but in the two times I went to the actual office it took anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour.

Spilled a cup of grape juice on the carpet? I don’t think I’ve ever even encountered grape juice in my entire life.

Played spin the bottle? I don’t think I’ve ever played this. My friends and I usually resort to truth or dare.

Played Twister? Yes, and there are many fond memories that come with it as well. So when I was 7 years old I befriended Katreen, and her mom and mine hit it off instantly so they started this arrangement where every Friday, her mom picked me and my sister up from school along with Katreen and her sisters, and we’d stay for several hours at their place until my mom would pick us up. Her mom was an amazing host and every week we’d play Twister, watch Pokemon, read books together, etc; anything to keep us comfortable and entertained.

Been caught doing something you weren't supposed to be doing? It’s bound to happen every now and then.

Walked out of a movie because it was horrible? I’ve gotten this feeling a few times but I always stayed in my seat because I paid for the damn ticket.

Given the finger to someone on the street? Oh most definitely, as well as drivers passing by. And it’s always been towards men that are being disgusting pigs.

Been so sad/angry that you started laughing? Sure.

Been in a wedding? Yes, but I only got invited as a kid since I was usually picked to be one of the flower girls. I haven’t been to a family wedding since 2007.

Been in a situation where you almost died? Probably not died but almost substantially injured, sure.

Misc...

Are you stressing out about anything right now? Just worried about the deluge of tasks that will inevitably come at me tomorrow but knowing how easygoing my bosses are, I know I’ll be able to ease up soon enough.

Do you think before acting or act before thinking? I used to be the latter but I now see the importance of first considering possible consequences of or how others would be affected by my actions.

Do you act upon your emotions and instinct, or logic and reasoning? Again, I used to be one of these, this time the former. Now that I’m at a much more stable and peaceful place in my life I try not to let my emotions get the best of me.

What are some personality traits you find appealing in a potential partner? I had a number of negative experiences in my last relationship so forgive me for scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to my expectations lmaaaao – I’d love for someone to be sensitive to my needs and feelings, and for them to be able to own up to their mistakes or hurtful habits and know how to apologize and be open to changing if it’s for their self-improvement.

How have you changed as a person in the last 5 years? I tolerate less bullshit now. I think I’ve also grown to be happier and a lot more stable, emotionally. I also have a better sense of what I want out of life and where I want to be, and I’ve also learned to be more sociable and open up to people.

If you could do anything you wanted right this moment, what would it be? Order sushi :(

Is there anyone you can totally relax and be yourself around? Yes, that’s what my friends are for. If I can’t feel comfortable around my friends, I’d view that as a problem.

Did you ever wanted to say something to someone, didn't, and regretted it? No.

Are you scared about the future? I’m scared of the idea of not meeting some of my goals, like having a family; but I’m also excited about what the future could bring me.

followers: 73, and I’m really sad that I missed it when I had 69 followers, but I’m not complaining (that much).

instruments: I play guitar and harmonica! I’ve been playing guitar since I was in sixth grade, but I’m not as good at it as you’d think I am for having played that long... and I started harmonica a couple months ago so I’m about as good at that as you’d expect from a beginner. I also can’t go a day without singing, for better or for worse.

what I am wearing: my outfit today is probably the best I’ve worn in a long while! It’s a forest green button-up shirt that I got from a thrift store, overalls, a necklace with a bottle of craft store moss, a necklace with steampunk bug charms, and various rainbow bracelets. I’m also wearing a reversible cloak with the purpley-brown side out and the dark red side in, but I wasn’t wearing it for most of the day.

dream job: uhhh D&D bard? I don’t really want to have a job. I’m still looking for a more realistic career goal to pursue.

dream trip: KIRBY CAFE KIRBY CAFE KIRBY CAFE (but also I dream of being a full-time traveler)

favorite foods: sushi, the duck curry at this Thai restaurant my family likes, pizza, and just about any dessert but especially Cherry Garcia ice cream (that’s my favorite thing to eat). I also really like burritos, nachos, and various noodles, but I don’t really consider them favorites.

nationality: American. My family history pretty much just comes from various places in Europe, so basically I’m just really white. I’m also Jewish though, so there’s that I guess.

favorite song: I wonder why this question wasn’t listed up with the other music-related questions? Anyway, it’s definitely “I Was Born For This” from the game Journey, but a close second would be Itoki Hana’s version of Gourmet Race from the Kirby series. I can feel both songs deep in my soul...

last book I read: does fanfiction count? I don’t remember the last fanfiction I read either, though I suppose I could look it up. *checks AO3* ok it was a oneshot about Pikmin where Louie suffers the consequences of eating the Waterwraith :)

top 3 fictional universes: oh my gosh I’ve never really thought about this... Probably the Kirby universe, but I’m not sure what I’d put after that. Hmm.

Positive Side: When I read your description from start to finish, I just knew I was going to ship you with him. Your personalities definitely make a good balance in a sense, because just like you, he’s very soft spoken, gentle, very friendly and can be in tone with his emotions in a positive light. He also can be fiesty, dramatic and very funny which adds more excitement to both of your relationship. When people try to take advantage of your kindnesses or even tease you too much, Renjun would stand up for you in a heart beat grasping your shoulder clinging you close to him. Dates would be sooo entertaining because you both have similar interests and hobbies. You guys will do weekly art projects together as dates and exchange them as gifts for other to hang up in your rooms. Since he's learning more about cooking as he go, he would get guidance from hyung Doyoung to prepare your favorite dish along with any movie of your choice. Lastly, he’s a sucker for baby kittens and the both of you would adopt 3 from the shelter to name them Clover, Sparkle and Coco. Being with him can help you both learn to love and blossom into a more stronger, loveable and powerful couple.

Negative Side: Renjun can be a tab bit sensitive when it comes to being with you. Every once in awhile, we see Renjun reveal his emotional side to czennies which can make me ooo so soft most of the time, but that’s only because he knows how to pour his heart out into his dream job and your relationship. I have a feeling sometimes he can’t control his jealousy by making assumptions when a guy is flirting with you or even touching you. The guy wouldn’t even be able to make eye contact more than 10 seconds, that enough would start to irritate him. Not saying he would act crazy, but he can only go so far with his patience, because this man can get real hot headed easily. I meann he has to deal with pranksters Haechan and Chenle so I understand his pain lol.

But...: After him pouting and ranting about the guy that was giving all over you, you gave him reassurance by taking him out for sushi and letting him stay the night at your place cuddling in your bed sharing hoodie as a blanket while watching anime. Renjun just loves giving his all to you and wanted to make sure that all the guys that would ever dare try to hit you up or hook up with you had to deal with facing your boyfriend and his fist. He can acting intense sometimes, but at the end of the day Renjun has the vocals and the personality of an angel and would never let anything bad happen to your relationship.

From Nct 127, I ship you with...Doyoung

Positive Side: Personally, I feel like matching you with Doyoung made the most sense to me. He would love how hard you study and how you have those traits of a mom very gentle, kind, calm and very wise. I have this feeling that in order to be with Doyoung, you have to keep up with his level of intelligence in order to understand him and his humor. I feel like in that aspect, that’s where you both click so well as friends and lovers. When around the members, you love to help Doyoung cook dinner almost every night with him learning new recipes and having intimate time together. Doyoung has been really bold lately especially with czennies so I can imagine him trying to flirt with you by wrapping his arms around you helping you mix or drop the amount of ingredients needed in the bowl. Cafe dates with him every weekend too to help you study for your exams, he would know exactly what study tools worked best for you and reward you with a kiss if you got all the answers right. Only straight A’s or no kisses was his number 1 rule. Lastly, he would be so professional yet protective of you when dealing with rude people. For example, if a saesang tried to spam you with texts asking for Doyoung’s Instagram account info, this man would grab your phone and troll them by giving them fake info. He would professionally go off on haters if it meant he could protect you.

Negative Side: Sometimes Doyoung can say harsh petty things, but a lot of times he means it as a joke. This side of him was hard to understand at first because most of the time you couldn’t tell if he was joking or being serious. Those times would lead to you feeling hurt inside and made it hard for you to face him. Even the other members that saw this happening, would thump Doyoung in the forehead very hard to make him realize what he’s done.

But...: Doyoung cares about you too much to let you feel sad, because of him. He apologizes with tears almost in his eyes and he even insists on allowing you to hit him. Instead, you both just hold each other’s hands and agreed to learn how to understand each other even more. After awhile his jokes doesn’t phase you and you even snap back at him. The love starts to become stronger at that point.

Positive Side: As much as I know seventeen, Jun is still kind of hard to describe personality wise. I can tell you this though, your both very idealistic and daydreamers which works out perfectly, because you both can work together help achieving your goals. You can help him stay motivated to continue to perform with seventeen and he can encourage you to focus on school and finish strong. Being the food lovers you both are, he’ll travel with you to the best tasting restaurants from Korean bbq to rolled ice cream. Expect lots of drunken moments with Jun especially when he’s out with the members. He’s only a giggler when he’s drunk, but he’s also a cuddler. When schedules become too busy and he’s super tired, he’s a very homey person so he would love to watch movies, reading manga together and playing games with you eating chocolate chip cookies you both just baked the other night. Lastly expect FaceTime shenanigans when he’s away on tour, he’ll be blowing up your phone trying to update you on everything that’s going on when he’s traveling with his members. “What is it this time Jun? Negative Side: Although both Gemini’s would seem like a disaster combination, it’s not as bad as you think. I think the only issue between you two would be the level of trust. In the beginning when you first moved in together, it was kind of hard to adjust living together, because he didn’t want you snooping into his things and you didn’t want him popping in your room whenever you were studying or changing. Those would lead to awkward conversations if you both ever broke those boundaries. The both of you at that point wouldn’t know how to recover from them awkward moments.

But...: After awhile, you both don’t seemed to be too bothered by it because you start to understand each other’s patterns and mood changes which is why you both can work easily together. It’ll tend to frustrate sometimes, but the both of you get over it and move on to the next thing. One minute your jokingly making fun of each other, the next minute you release that frustration out on each other through your make out sessions.

omg ok it was april 2014, and I was procrastinating on homework and scrolling through youtube. shinee’s lucifer mv was recommended for some reason, and I was intrigued, so I clicked on it. From there, it just spiraled out of control. I was blown away like there’s this one dance move where they all lined up and taemin does this hand motion so fluidly and I was like “this is it.” More shinee mvs were recommended after I clicked that one, so I kept going and watching all the other ones until I watched them all. Their music is just so different and unique, like even after all this time, I can’t find another kpop group who mimics the music style of shinee. and all their solos are absolutely god tier, too!!! they really are gonna be my first and last kpop group. shinee withstood through my stan eras for other groups. I don’t think I’ll ever stop being their fan.

I also found snsd through shinee because their mvs were recommended after I clicked lucifer too. the first one I saw is the iconic gee. taeyeon stood out to me in those mvs. her voice is so distinct, and I’ve been a fan of her ever since. She didn’t have a solo then, but I searched up all her drama osts, song features, everything because I loved her voice so much even back then. so yeah, taeyeon and shinee will forever be my faves, and I love them a lot 💓

— how are you today?

I’m doing really good! I’m enjoying my summer, and my day is pretty lax. I’ve been facetiming friends, watching chopped, making banh bao with my mom, and doing my daily cardio ✨

— what book has had the biggest impact on your life?

the princess knight by cornelia funke. my elementary school did this thing where your parents can buy a book to donate to the school library under your name for your birthday. this was the book my sister chose for me when I was in kindergarten. I loved that book; I borrowed it so many times and kept rereading it. It’s a children’s picture book about a princess who secretly learns how to joust. the king tries to give her hand in marriage to the knight who wins the competition, but she defeats them all and chooses to marry the gardener’s son who she loves 💕

— what is something you think everybody should have done once in their life?

Travel. There’s just something so wonderful about going to a new place, whether that’s halfway across the world or just the town a few states over. It’s a lovely feeling embarking on an adventure to a place unknown to you where you can meet new people, try new foods even if it’s just a random dish at a restaurant you’ve never been to, and make memories with strangers that no one back home ever has to know about. There’s just something intriguing about being able to go somewhere else and be someone else for an hour or a day or a week before you return back home.

— what story are you the most proud of and why?

on my previous blog, I wrote a fic called the universe of us, and it’s 21k+ wc. I poured my blood, sweat, and tears into that fic, and although I can’t read it now without cringing, I really am super proud of myself for pulling through and writing that. The concept of it was unique, in my opinion, and I would love to rewrite it someday! 💫

on this blog, I am most proud of the dumbing down of love. that fic is personal to me because it is literally comprised of my college experiences in written format and the characters embody my friends. I wrote that over the span of 3-4 nights, and that’s the fastest I’ve ever written a fic of that length. the words just flowed so easily for that fic, and the quesadilla scene was the first thing I wrote, and I’m quite proud of that scene!! 💓

— what has made you really happy recently?

I graduated uni!!!!! 💛💛

— what is the first thing you want to do after this whole pandemic is over and it’s safe to go out again?

I want to eat sushi LOL I haven’t had it in four months, and I’m craving it so badly.... I also want to go out with my friends again! I miss being able to see them everyday and our late night shenanigans ):

1. How old is your sim? Currently 18 (but there’s going to be time jumps along the way because I cannot, will not, narrate every year of her life XD)

3. What is your sim’s zodiac sign? Aries

4. What is your sim’s ethnicity? American (United North American States Grabbag: Russian and Italian from her father’s side; Panamanian (mestiza), Puerto Rican, Ukrainian, Chinese, English and German from her mother’s)

5. Does your sim have any nicknames? V (from Alex)

6. Do they have a job? Full time university student and works with her mother’s organization’s satellite office in Myshuno.

7. Where does your sim live? San Myshuno

8. Who does your sim live with? Alone

9. What environment did your sims grow up in? (strict, loving, cold etc.) Vera’s mother, Emilia, was strict with her and her siblings when they were young and allowed them increasing freedom as they grew older. Her father, Yulian, is much more indulgent - he spoiled them with everything they’d ask for but would be firm when backing their mother’s decisions, at least in front of the children. Her parents were loving but there was always an understanding that they were to keep themselves apart from others; the Volkovs were very insular to prepare the children for the ‘family business’. As a consequence, Vera looks out for her family’s interests first and doesn’t concern herself with the damage that they do to outsiders.

10. What are your sim’s favorite foods? Vera’s favorite food is sushi, but is unlikely to try new foods if it is not presented in an appetizing way.

11. What is your sim’s favorite drink?��Lattes for nonalcoholic, spiced rum for alcoholic. Though, she will go out of her way to order ridiculously named cocktails at bars or pretty presentations at restaurants.

12. If they have one what is your sim’s favorite color? She favors black but doesn’t really think of it as her ‘favorite’.

13. Does your sim believe in any clichés? ‘You can’t please everyone’ - probably.

19. Is your sim a pet person? If so what is their favorite animal? Vera grew up with a pet dog that she loved, Bear, but she doesn’t have any pets because she doesn’t have time for them.

20. Does your sim have a best friend? Hana, though most people wouldn’t consider them ‘best friends’ if they knew how much Vera keeps from her.

21. What is/was your sim’s favorite school subject? Programming - she believed it would help her gain control of her mother’s business if she gained an understanding of it.

30. What is your sim’s personal style? Vera loves dresses that make her feel sexy; scandalous cuts, thin materials, a lot of skin on display. But you’ll usually see her dressed in jeans and a tank top (grey/black) without a lot of ornamentation.

31. Does your sim have a lucky charm? Her abuela, Sophia, gave her a St. Christopher medallion that she will put in the car she’s driving for the day. Aside from that, no.

32. Is your sim religious? She likes going to holiday services for the ritual of it but, no, she doesn’t think about religion at all in her daily life.

33. What kind of music does your sim listen to and who is their favorite artist? Shoegazer, alternative, indie pop, and electronica. (If you’re interested, HERE is a playlist that I threw together for Vera when I was kicking around story ideas.)

34. Is your sim a festive person? If so what’s their favorite holiday? She’s not festive in that she goes out of her way to decorate or participate when she’s by herself but she enjoys spending time with her family and following traditions together. Her favorite holiday would probably be Christmas - where the entire family gets together.

35. What is your sim’s favorite type of weather? Beach weather - warm with a breeze.

36. Does your sim prefer to start fights or finish them? Finish them.

37. Does your sim have a dream job? She’s always assumed her path was to take over her mother’s business that she’s never considered a ‘dream job’

38. Does your sim have any siblings? She has three brothers; Her fraternal twin, Abram; Her Irish twin, Aleksei (who she’s closest to); and her youngest brother, Vidal.

39. Does your sim get along with their family? Yes.

40. What is your sims favorite hobby? Working, furthering herself to where she thinks is her position in life is - her mother’s successor.

41. What does your sim look for in a romantic partner? After Ki Tae, she’s not looking to get seriously involved with anyone. So, for now, the answer is strong dick game.

42. What is a secret about your sim? Aside from the biotic thing, she is trying to train to take jobs with The Brotherhood - which is why she’s always at the gym or range during her free time.

43. What is a wish your sim has? To get rid of her biotic ability.

44. What is a flaw your sim has? She is extremely focused, to the point of tunnel vision at times. She is also demanding and can be uncompromising when she wants something. ‘My way or no way’.

45. How do others generally perceive your sim? People who meet Vera that she’s not looking to gain anything from, will see her as cold and aloof. She’s charming and engaging when she needs to be, which isn’t often.

46. Does your sim have a greatest achievement? Not really, not yet.

47. If they have one, what is your sim’s greatest regret? Not really. She feels justified in breaking it off with KT - he didn’t tell her about going into the Alliance and she doesn’t want anyone to know that she’s a biotic.

Organization Members at An Amusement Park

The links for the hotels and such lead to either pictures or Youtube Vids that I could find where you can actually tour the room<3 I highly recommend looking up the hotels online if you don’t know what they look like!

Favorite Park: Epcot

Favorite Hotel: The Royal Suite in The Four Seasons Resort

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Wildlife Express Train and Spaceship Earth

People move out of his way when he walks toward wherever he’s going. Lines to rides, lines to food, front seats at different attractions? They always move aside for him.

Purposely moves away from most of the Organization members to find stuff he’s interested in. Spends a lot of time in the regular exhibits instead of the actual rides

Likes a lot of the desserts that you can find across the parks, such as the Macarons aux Framboises at Les Halles Boulangerie & Patisserie in Epcot. All the fancy stuff is what he’s all about

Spends most of his time in the World Showcase in Epcot, examining the various countries. Loves going to the different shops and seeing the merchandise he can buy. He’s the guy that buys the $1000 merchandise you always dream about getting.

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Expedition Everest and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Will hit on one of the Disney princesses and get into a near scuffle with Gaston. Doesn’t like to wait in lines, though, but will somehow sweet talk his way to the front of the line

Excellent at any shooting games, like the Toy Story Mania game. Will always get the highest score out of all of the Organization members.

Never goes to Disney without stopping by Italy in Epcot to get himself a bunch of cannolis or sushi from Japan. Could honestly just stay there and eat a little from each country.

That guy that uses the gym at the hotel every morning before anyone else wakes up

Favorite Park: Animal Kingdom - or Typhoon Lagoon!

Favorite Hotel: The Cabins at the Fort Wilderness Resort

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Jungle Cruise and DINOSAUR

Loves the animal attractions!!! Nearly gasped aloud when he found out that there was a place in Animal Kingdom where you could actually watch the vets take care of and do examinations on the animals. He thought it was awesome and super interesting!

Will get up early with Lexaeus and get the two of them coffee to start the day as everyone else wakes up. Is no longer allowed to get coffee for Zexion because Lexaeus says he gets too hyper.

Also likes the Disney Water Park, even though it gets really crowded and there are too many small children there. He doesn’t care about the children themselves; it’s just that the parents don’t watch them and he gets annoyed. Loves all of the water slides, though, and can definitely sit and relax with an ice cream cone at one of the lounge chairs.

Favorite Hotel: Any room at Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Favorite Ride/Attraction: It’s A Small World and Star Tours

Unapologetically likes it’s a small world and will happily - loudly - sing the song for hours. Also likes Star Tours or anything to do with space because he finds it interesting.

Likes to spend time at Downtown Disney - and hates that they changed the name to Disney Springs. Definitely bought himself a fake, light-up lightsaber that he annoys the other members with.

Will definitely go to the spa and get a facial, complete with cucumber over the eyes and a mani-pedi to go with it.

Lexaeus

Favorite Park: Animal Kingdom

Favorite Hotel: Copper Creek Cabins at the Wilderness Lodge

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Maharajah Jungle Trek and Monster’s Inc Laugh Floor

Gets up early and stays out at the parks late to stay with the other kiddos after the adults have all gone back to the hotels. Wants to get his money’s worth and wants to make sure everyone has done what they wanted to do that day.

Usually forgets to do what he wants to do, but always has fun watching other people.

Carries one of those giant reusable cups that you can refill at any Disney restaurant so there’s something for everyone to have when they inevitably forget to refill their own drinks. Also always has a churro in one hand. He loves the damn things.

LOVES the giant Turkey legs. Once ate four in one sitting. The manager of that particular restaurant was so impressed, there’s a small plaque with his name on it next to a picture of him and Goofy both holding turkey legs.

Zexion

Favorite Park: Animal Kingdom

Favorite Hotel: Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Mission Space and Mad Tea Party

Will not go on It’s a Small World. Never again. Those creepy ass dolls haunted his dreams for months.

When he met Belle for the first time??? Heart eyes. They talked about books for about twenty minutes until one of the Disney park guys said he had to move on because there were kids who wanted to meet the princess.

Likes to buy souvenirs, particularly if they’re things like puzzles, books, or little Disney science experiments. Before they implemented the program where they would send your purchases directly to your room, he used to make Lexaeus carry his stuff around for him.

Saix

Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom

Favorite Hotel: Disney’s Yacht Club Resort, The Captain’s Deck Suite

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Soarin’ and Muppet Vision 3D

Has a plan okay. Knows when each ride gets super crowded, knows which to go to first, knows what to save for last, knows which they should use their Fast Passes on, and knows when the lines for food are going to be faster and shorter. He came prepared and is ready to take on Disney World like a WWII soldier storming the Bay of Normandy.

Cannot go to Disney with the whole group. They will argue all the time and nothing will get done. Much prefers for them all to separate and go off into groups of two and three so everyone can have a good time and he can stay organized while he has fun.

Axel

Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom

Favorite Hotel: Animal Kingdom Lodge in the Royal Asante Presidential Suite

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Space Mountain and Test Track

Loves action packed roller coasters and anything that makes his adrenaline shoot up. Could ride space mountain six times in a row and not get bored.

Usually the guy who helps everyone have fun in long lines by telling jokes and playing games.

Can eat whatever he wants and will not get sick after he rides a ride, but put him on the spinning teacups and he’ll get so ill and dizzy that he’ll be out of commission for the rest of the day.

Demyx

Favorite Park: Hollywood Studios

Favorite Hotel: All-Star Music Resort

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Festival of the Lion King or Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

The man isn’t really into the whole rides and excitement. I mean, yeah, he likes it obviously, and he won’t leave the park without going on all of the exciting rides at least once, but he’s more into the music and the atmosphere. Loves Hollywood Studios because of the various shows and music things, etc.

Most likely to spend his time taking pictures with and dabbing with the princesses, but Tinkerbell is his favorite person to see.

Always up for seeing any concerts in Hollywood Studios under the mickey hat.

Favorite Park: Epcot

Favorite Hotel: The Grand Suite at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

Favorite Ride/Attraction: The Great Movie Ride and Carousel of Progress

Kind of like Xemnas in the sense that his favorite place to be is the World of Nations in Epcot. He really enjoys just sitting outside at one of the restaurants and drinking cappuccino and people watching.

Will somehow end up spending hours at the golf course at Saratoga Springs with Xemnas or, on one memorable occasion, he joined Larxene at the spa for a massage.

Marluxia

Favorite Park: Animal Kingdom

Favorite Hotel: The Treehouse Villa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Living with the Land and The Oasis Exhibits

His favorite thing is, obviously, the Annual Flower and Garden Festival in Epcot, but he does like looking at the animal habitats in the Animal Kingdom. Has definitely stolen a few leaves and plant buds to add to his garden at home.

Ends up chatting with someone near one of the nature exhibits and is so informatory that a crowd forms because everyone thinks that he works at the park.

Larxene

Favorite Park: Hollywood Studios

Favorite Hotel: Bora Bora Bungalows in the Polynesian Village Resort

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (rip this great ride) and Haunted Mansion

Anything that makes her jump and her stomach head up to her throat? She’s totally into. Will spend most of the time in line at the Haunted Mansion or Tower of Terror trying to make the other Organization members jump.

Buys a lot of Disney merch, particularly T-shirts that she can sleep in. They’re so soft and comfortable and they always last a long time, so she has a growing stack that’s taken up a permanent spot in her closet.

Roxas

Favorite Park: Magic Kingdom

Favorite Hotel: Pop Century Hotel

Favorite Ride/Attraction: Kali Water River Rapids and Splash Mountain

THE FOOD. Oh God, the food. Dole Pineapple Whip, the Gray Stuff at Belle’s Castle, the giant Turkey Legs, the churros, the mickey ice cream cones.... will want to try everything and will have a huge stomachache by the end of the day.

Has to get souvenirs from every single store they pass. Loves giant stuffed animals and little knick knacks because they are literally too cute for words.

Was extremely disappointed when they told her that she was too old to get a makeover at the princess boutique, but then (surprisingly) Xemnas sent them such a horrific glare for hurting her feelings that they gave her a makeover anyway. She had sparkles in her hair for the rest of the week.

What was the best vacation you've ever been on? Every time we get to take one has been great, but I’d say the best vacations were the ones in Boracay, Sagada, and East Asia. I also feel like I’d have had more of a blast on the latter trip if I had already been into K-drama and K-pop by then, but it was still a fun trip nonetheless.

What would you buy first if you won the lottery? Oh man. I probably would just order sushi first.

Did you grow up in the city, the suburbs or somewhere more rural? I’ve always lived in the suburbs. I was raised in the city very briefly as a baby, but my mom hated Manila and wanted somewhere quieter and closer to her parents.

Describe the bag you use most often. It’s a white shoulder bag that has 47594857945 pockets in it, which is tbh a pet peeve because it’s since become a lot harder to find my shit as soon as I need them; but the bag itself looks nice so it works for me.

What languages did you learn in school? Just Filipino and English. In 1st grade I do remember how our teachers tried to teach us French - our school foundress was from France - but as far as I know the practice didn’t stick and they only tried it out that year.

What has been the happiest time of your life so far? I hear a lot of people my age talk about how 2016 was such a fun time what with all the music and trends that simultaneously came out during that year; I’d have to agree. I’d say 2014–2016 was generally a fun period that just let me be a dumb, carefree teenager who didn’t have to worry too much about the future yet.

What do you usually order when you get Chinese food? My family likes to get fried rice, minced pork with eggplant, pork buns, xiaolongbao, and a side of century eggs. I’m almost sure we get more than one viand, but I also haven’t been to a Chinese restaurant in over a year so I’ve forgotten some of the usuals we get.

Have you ever had a crush on a celebrity? Who? Yeah, I guess, but that’s exactly it - a celebrity crush - so I’ve never been a creepy stalker or anything like that lmao. My biggest crush rn is on Kim Seonho.

Do you have any fears you would rarely admit to anyone? No. When it comes to matters I’m scared or apprehensive about, I feel much better sharing them with at least one person because at least it lessens the weight I have to carry around.

Name one thing you always have in your fridge. I don’t think we’ve ever run out of eggs before.

What website do you spend most of your time on? Google Suite if that counts...

What was the last music you listened to? I belieeeeeeeve I was listening to either SHINee or VIXX before I closed Spotify.

How did you feel when you woke up today? Excited to work and fade the fuck out at the end of the day, because it was Friday.

What would your dream house be like? Brutalist on the outside, minimalist and modern on the inside. Mostly black and white with some earthy tones, lots of cove lights, and big windows.

Do you own any clothes with polka dot patterns? I don’t think so.

Have you ever been orienteering? No. This was offered as a PE in my university but I never took it because it sounded like I had to go outside for it HAHA

What class in high school did you struggle with the most? Chemistry was such a fucking bother. I didn’t need it, never did, and it wasn’t my strength by any means, so I hated the fact that I had to take it. I felt this way about trigonometry and calculus as well, but by then I had senioritis and stopped caring whether I was performing well in the class or not lol.

What did you have for dinner last night? We had my dad’s pad thai *chef’s kiss* which reminds me I’m in the mood for another round of it, so I’ll probs grab a plate after this survey.

Would you change anything about yourself? No.

Do you like musical theatre? No.

What was the last party you went to? The party that Hans’ group of friends threw at BGC to celebrate one year of their small business. I’m so glad we were able to squeeze that in before the whole world went into lockdown. I haven’t been anywhere that has been that crowded ever since.

Do you like to make lists? Of just about anything, yes.

What could you talk about for hours? My dogs, my favorite TV shows, and some parts of history I’m particularly interested in.

Are there any slang words/sayings that you just hate? It’s a local one, but “sana all” got annoying a long time ago lol. It literally means “I wish all” and it’s something you say if you want what someone has. So like if I see a couple holding hands, sana all would be an appropriate response. The thing is it’s overused as fuck, so I never picked it up as a habit.

Do you have a lamp beside your bed? Yes.

If you were in a band, what kind of music would you play? Idk I’m not musically inclined at all, but it’d be nice to play music that’s inspired by both jazz and lo-fi, my two favorite genres for when I want to chill and unwind.

What was the first cell phone you owned? That One Famous Nokia model haha. I’m too lazy to look it up and check what model it is.

What's your favourite ice cream topping? I don’t like toppings on my ice cream as much as possible, but if I had to go with one it would be hot fudge.

Is there something big you're currently saving for? I want to get braces again, which are pretty costly, yeah.

Prompt #67: “I’m right where I belong”

This was requested by @dream-beyond-the-fantasy. Since she’s the official Jimmy girl, I wanted to do something a bit different. If any of you’re reading Counterpoint, you’re probably acquainted with Jimmy’s wife, so... this is how they met. Enjoy.

“You should be at the library, not here.”

The voice coming from the stage was sweet, almost melodic, but it caught Jimmy by surprise. So much that he dropped his books, his glasses… and his dignity, because he also went red as a beet.

“Ah… sorry, I didn’t want to bother you. I was… sorry, I’ll leave.”

The girl sitting at the piano gave him a wide smile, and Jimmy found himself even more flustered.

“I’m not throwing you out… I don’t mind having an audience”, she said. “But what are you doing in the auditorium with those Law books?”

The young man cleared his throat. He couldn’t give her the real reason, of course. The reason being that he had caught sight of her a couple of weeks before, and when he’d found out that she was a music student he’d started sneaking into the empty auditorium to listen to her piano rehearsals. But he hadn’t tried to talk to her… for starters, he was a senior and she was a freshman, so she probably only dated boys her age. And his knowledge of music was very limited, so he was sure they would run out of conversation topics in a minute. Now, after several days sitting in a dark corner, she had finally noticed him… and he still didn’t know what to say.

Seeing that her audience of one was mute, the girl stepped away from the piano and spoke again.

“You know… if you want me to be your background music while you study, you should at least buy me coffee one of these days.”

That was the last straw that made Jimmy react and remember his almost forgotten Cobra Kai training. What had happened to the ‘strike first’ motto? Why was he reduced to a stammering mess in front of this girl? It was like high school all over again… only worse, because now he didn’t have Johnny and the others to play wingman.

He cleared his throat and willed his voice not to shake.

“Well, it’s too late for coffee”, he said, checking his watch. “How about lunch instead?”

“Are you going to buy me cafeteria food?” she asked, wrinkling her nose.

“No! Of course not… look, I know the food offer on campus is not the finest, but last week they opened a Japanese restaurant next to the Social Sciences building. We can go there.”

“Well, if the sushi is good enough for those hippies in Social Sciences, I’m sure I’ll like it”, she said, clearly amused by the situation. “By the way, I’m Dawn.”

He wanted to respond with a witty remark. He also wanted to tell her that he loved her hair, and the sight of her hands moving over the piano keys, and the way she frowned in concentration when she was about to hit a difficult note… But instead he walked towards the stage, smiling like an idiot.

“Jimmy. Ah… nice to meet you, Dawn. And sorry for sneaking on you like that, I didn’t want to distract you but I like hearing you play.”

“Then you’re lucky, because I need to rehearse for ten more minutes before I’m finished. But don’t hide in the back again!” she demanded. “I want you here where I can see you, Mr. Lawyer.”

“I’m not a lawyer yet. I won’t even be in Law School until September”, he said, taking a seat on the first row.

She sat at the piano again, and her slender fingers started a new melody.

“Are you sure I’m not distracting you, Jimmy?” she teased. “I don’t want you to fail your Law School entrance exam… Music and Law are not a good match; maybe you should get back to your library.”

Jimmy almost jumped in his seat, because the Law School thing had just given him an idea.

“Did you know that the man who wrote the national anthem was a lawyer?”

She struck a false note, surprised, and turned to look at him.

“Really? You’re not making that up?”

“Francis Scott Key. He wrote Star-Spangled Banner in 1814, and after that he served as the District Attorney of the United States. So... don’t worry about distracting me, Dawn”, he said in a more confident tone, leaving his books on the floor. “I’m right where I belong.”
