Explanation for my unpleasant gradient and infected dynamic headcanon!
Ok let’s get one thing out of the way:
Tumblr media
I headcannon that unpleasant gradient is infected/kaspers ADOPTIVE father
if that makes you uncomfortable, no worries! Simply ignore it or ask me to tag just in case.
now for the people actually interested in why I headcannon as such, I’ll explain in this blog! So strap in for my ramblings lol.
Tumblr media
WHY? AND HOW?
ok let’s get the obvious out of the way:
Unpleasant always appears from infecteds apartment. And ONLY infecteds apartment. Nothing else.
which is obviously weird. I know that other npc’s only spawn from one place (i.e infected from his own apartment or pest from the subway) but this almost always correlates with their lore in some way. If unpleasant had spawned somewhere else then it wouldn’t be such a big deal but this MAJOR evidence for my headcannon.
of course he could just be a really annoying roommate but I’ll explain this in my next point-
-which is THIS:
Tumblr media
Litteraly who the fuck follows their “roommate” around once they get an injury, you wouldn’t do that type of stuff unless….
It’s your child.
yeah that’s right, I believe that unpleasant is actually just a worried dad. Which explains why it always follows infected around and why it has such close correlation.
on top of that there’s infecteds skateboard, who the hell gets a skateboard directly based off of their supposed roommate? Unless of course. Infected actually looked up to unpleasant and based his skateboard off of it.
“BuT kEvIn WhAt aBoUt ThIs!?!?1!1?”
Tumblr media
I honestly have no idea what to say of this. I’ll be honest lmao. But I’m guessing it’s probably the fact that it’s just teenage angst and/or him hating on unpleasant because he’s technically not his “real” dad.
“bUt ErM kEvIn wHy WoUlD hE eAt HiS CaT tHeN ☝🏼🤓”
Because erm actually anon there’s 0 fucking evidence he ate the fuckass cat there’s only speculation and coincidences who the hell knows maybe it’s KASPER himself (I actually headcannon that but it’s a topic for another time)
ok now that I’ve THOSE out of the way it’s time for general headcannons!! ^_^
Tumblr media
General headcannons + ramblings!
number one! Since unpleasant is pretty much fixated on ‘cringe’ things (skibidi toilet and unfunny 2020’s jokes) it could play a factor on why infected dosent like having him around, he’s chill. But he’s basically the embodiment of embarrassment. Whether that’d be through his habits (nose-picking, messy eating, etc.) or his humor (as stated before) he’s pretty much the dad that embarrasses you wherever you go.
on top of that, the difference and the opposite nature of both infected and unpleasant makes it quite hard for anyone to really think they’re even partially related. Which is why infected takes advantage of the fact that he can say he’s a “creep” / stalker and anyone can believe him.
However despite their difference in nature. Unpleasant and infected are actually not all that awfully different. They’re both mentally stuck in a period of time (2010 with infected, 2020’s with unpleasant) and they’re both ‘cringe’ in their own respective ways. So despite their opposing beliefs and humor, they’re actually not all that different.
this and unpleasant would be the type of ‘protective and nosey’ dad. Constantly trying to see what is up with his adoptive son while also trying to protect him ever since he got the infection. To which infected retaliates and pushes it further, thinking he deserves to live his life the way he sees fit. Even if it means getting in trouble sometimes. Which is probably why no one is comfortable with unpleasant, it only suspects everybody.
Anddd that’s all! I think- But man that was a woozy to write- I hope you all like it! Who knows if this does well I might write more of my headcannons! For now though I’m gonna log off for the evening- Bye bye!

My experience with Dragon's Dogma 2 and my thoughts about the true ending (spoilers!)
So first of all I never finished the first game. It just did not captivate me, and I got annoyed by the respawning low level enemies and lack of fast travel. I loved the monster designs and the pawns a lot tho.
Then the second game got announced n I vacillated between getting it and not getting it, while like 90% of my friends were hyping me up. I ended up pre-ordering. I made my pawn after my beloved kittycat Lara.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is very similar to the first game but it feels more polished. The vocations are more fun, the pawns are chattier and cuter, the vibe of the world is a bit more whimsical and sillier than it was. I ended up not minding the low level enemies at all because the combat is just that fun. The npcs are also more charming this time around but the more I played the more I just fell in love with the pawns. The rest of the npcs colored the world, and the game's big quest (aside from continuing the cycle n killing the dragon) is specifically to learn about this world. The pathfinder specifically tells you this the game itself grapes you by the shoulder and invites you to have fun in this light hearted theme park. Kill cool monsters! Meet lovely people! It's very comfy.
BUT THEN the game occasionally has moments that made me feel emotional. And many times these moments were connected to my pawn. When my dear Lara was in danger or dying or in pain in a cutscene it felt meaningful because she is my main pawn. My main traveling companion, my little heal bot. I even presented her to the Sphinx when she asked who I love the most because she is the one always by my side chatting in my ear.
Then I got to the end. And the victory over the dragon felt hollow. Like ok great I did it I saved the world but it's just the same shit right? And where is my pawn? So I triggered the true ending or the beginning of the true ending that breaks the cycle. At first I found this very cool bc I love when games about grand cycles allow you to just upset the order of things... (It was very dark souls like) After I found my pawn sweet Lara again I started taking on the rest of the post game, which was preparing the denizens of the world that it is ending. Lara said she always felt my Arisen's presence like a heartbeat, even while separated.
And as I was facing down the last thing available for me (aside from another quest that glitched out) something very cool happened. The last challenge was killing another of these weird brine dragons, by powering the Gigantus you fight earlier. And it was LARA doing it not my Arisen. And SHE killed the dragon. Like pawns in this game have no free will at all, it's acknowledged many times by the setting. They are mysterious and they exist to help you. They have emotions, and they chitter cutely, but you make them. They are even more doll like than your own player character or all npcs and yet by the end my own pawn was the character I cared for the most. And she started acting without me prompting.
And then it was the end of my journey and I summoned a new proper dragon. And Lara turned into one too (like when pawns get the disease n turn into dragons) but this time she remained aware. And she helped me kill the new dragon. Like the last moment with your poor struggling pawn deciding to help you not because it's their role in this world but because it WANTS to help out of it's free will? That moment will stuck with me for a long time.
And it's such a smart decision too bc your Arisen steps out of the cycle and your pawn your precious companion does too. While the spirit of the game talks about pawns being hollow nothings, your own pawn replies to that that it's not true and it became something because of the player. And this is a game where pawns learn things from you all the time.
Like it just made me think about a lot of things. Fantasy stories and the people in these stories are there to serve a purpose usually (the pathfinder says this exact same thing too). Dragon's Dogma 2 analyzes what it means to exist in one such a story on a level I think. Like it presents you with a beautiful world and with lovely people you can escape to. It's idillyc and you are a hero and you can kill monsters and dragons and you can be so cool. And at first wanting to see the true ending feels like a punishment. Like oh really? You wanted to see this world unravel? Well it's all shit now. All those lovely people are in danger the world is no longer beautiful and everyone is DOOMED. Do you care to struggle? Why do you care to struggle? Do you care for this little doll you made so many hours ago to aid you? Why does it feel meaningful when it gains free will?
I think it's very impactful on a level because I did end up caring a lot. Especially about my pawn transforming into something new. The two of us together remaking the lovely world in which neither of us have a place in...

(same anon who asked for sinu analysis) well first off let me ask your thoughts on YeonhuixSinu
Despite my undying love for this man- I'll admit they're cute n all BUT I always felt it was undeveloped.
I don't know if it's just me but when Jason (I think) said he'd snitch about him being with neko to her I was confused back when he was still under the influence of those pills at workers. Like, Did I miss something? Did I forget something from the gaps between the arcs? Idk. But even if she was shown to be worried over Sinu, it didn't seem romantic at all especially that all the big deal girls cared too. PTJ also made it seem like an already established relationship and I'm still questioning when?? She seemed to know him well and all but no hinting of any romantic attraction was there, just your average big deal romanticism and admiration lol.
I understand that PTJ has to leave some details away for the sake of the pacing but I think he could've at least thrown some hints here and there.
ok yeah. so this won't be a super long post because i am tired but good lord i am very... lukewarm about sinu and yeonhui. im with you on the "who?" when yeonhui was mentioned again in 2a. now im glad that sinu is with someone he's happy with but man... sinu and yeonhui is just such a mid ship compared to literally anyone else he could've been shipped with. let me explain.
yeonhui's lack of presence in the story. now this is probably the main reason i find this ship so lackluster. how am i supposed to root for a ship when the female love interest is literally like npc #125? while she did have more presence than the other girls on the street, this isn't really a high bar considering ptj's track record writing female characters. and this isn't to say she was boring or had a bland personality either (even though she KINDA did...). she was strong and independent, stood up to samuel when he tried to extort them for money (iirc), bore the burden of sinu's sacrifice and stayed strong for big deal, and was there to comfort jake when he learned of the news. she could've been a REALLY interesting character because she was so strong and also stuck to her ideals in the same way sinu did, so they could've been such a power couple, had yeonhui been developed more. it would've been nice to see yeonhui and sinu strategize about how to protect big deal together, or see more of yeonhui bandaging and caring for sinu after he gets hurt, or seeing sinu bring yeonhui gifts and money... or anything, really. the two have barely have any substantial interactions over the entire arc besides the last part where sinu's about to sacrifice himself, so much so that it makes me wonder... who is this yeonhui person? why are they important again.
chemistry. this mainly comes up to personal preference but yeonhui and sinu feel more like an older sister-younger brother dynamic to me. yeonhui took sinu in as a child, fed, clothed, and cared for him, and then continues to take care of him as an adult, which comes off as big sis behavior. again, some people may like this dynamic romantically, but i personally find it super platonic and sibling-leaning.
other sinu ships. idk. just find it a LITTLE heteronormative that any man and woman who share a little bit of screentime together are instantly a couple while sinu and jake can be out here pulling "you are my everything" and "i came back to big deal for you and you alone, jake" moments, and they'll still be just "good bros". again, kind of up to personal preference, but if you compare yeonhui x sinu to jake x sinu or even samuel x sinu, there's a clear lack of interactions and chemistry for yeonhui x sinu
so yeah. thats kinda it. this ended up being way longer than i expected so im not gonna write a conclusion paragraph but those are my thoughts around yeonhui and sinu together romantically.

ok Idk if ur like hiding spoilers so don’t answer any of this if u can’t but if u CAN please please tell me why the dating sim girls hate & ur omnipotence so much they want you dead!!!!! is it the same reason they hated the first one or different? is there a reason tamsin wants you to stay on script, knowing she’s not interested and likely doesn’t like the dating sim format she’s stuck in? id kill to play this lee
ID KILL TO MAKE THISSSSSSSSS GOD I HAVE SO MANY IDEAS!!!!!! SO MANY IDEAS THAT ARE FAR TOO AMBITIOUS
BUT i can say this a lottt of it revolves around the medium of video games/dating simulators in general. if that makes sense. like the typical dating simulator is over the course of a few weeks(??) or something, which you AS THE PLAYER are able to pop in and out of as well as restart and redo to your hearts desire. if you want a different ending then you can simply restart the week and get a different ending!! if you want to date a different girl or see all of her reactions to everything you say to her then you can do that!! that’s definitely what the LAST guy did. but the thing that at some point these four girls became AWARE he was doing that. they are the only four people in this soulless world that are AWARE that they are stuck in an endless, one month cycle that all bends to one guys whim. they had no control whatsoever about what happened because they were not created to drive the narrative forward. and protag 1 was a very bored player with a lot of free time
so at one point the npcs finally actually for real talk to each other outside of their “pre-set” dialogue. the first protag has been repeating ellies route for a while now and the others were initially resentful of her just because they for real do Nothing when their route isn’t being played. but then one day ellie goes This Sucks. and the other girls go This Sucks. and the plan is formed to confront protag 1, and whether they MEANT to murder him or not they ended up killing him, at drowsy creek which is where ellie’s ‘final date’ is. and they don’t have that long to feel terrible or anything, because the timeloop STOPS. like they actually DID IT. which is why so many of them look different when YOU show up— they were actually able to explore the world and grow as people!!!!
but then here YOU are!! the second protagonist! you have the same ability as the first guy, and suddenly all four of them are stuck in the EXACT same cycle. which is why your decisions are really important here— IMMEDIATELY a lot of them are thinking about killing you, because that clearly worked for the last guy. pushing wayyy too hard about the murder is gonna make them even MORE hostile, especially tamsin who is quite defensive (hence why she’s telling you to BACK OFF BUDDY). a lot of the endings of this game are them taking you out lmao, only for you to come righhtttt back. if you go through the game just trying to do a normal romance route, it’s likely you’re gonna get killed!! ESPECIALLY if you do ellie’s bc she’s so over it lmfao
in my dream beautiful universe where i am able to make this game, the “true ending” of the game involves the four characters waving you goodbye before the game gets uninstalled from your computer entirely. bc that is truly the only way of ending the cycle. they have to be removed from the context of a video game and the protagonist simply can’t exist

Hello mutual in law gardnergulfie. Could I perhaps inquire about the npcs from dnd
Tumblr media
So that "cow man" is named Simon and he's a member of the rival adventuring party to my players! I'll tell you all about them rn!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Art by @autisticzedaph and @cuuno)
Ok so Simon, Simon McOwens, is a minotaur wizard (formerly a paladin till situation caused him to renounce his oath) and he's the leader of the rival party. He's a friendly but sometimes awkward guy who's charisma comes from just how outgoing he is! He'll cheer for you even if the two of you are racing! He's the one who has the wrangle the more rowdy members of his group in line, to varying degrees of success. Oh and also he's Transhet and uses he/him pronouns!
Next is Nectarine Everloam: a dwarf artificer and the unoffcial second in command of the group. The voice I do for her is based on Fluttershy MLP and thats a pretty good indicator of her personality. Thought quiet and shy, she's actually quite respected by her group and can silence some of them with a look and a few words. She doesn't get angry, just disappointed (which is worse honestly). She also has a lil pet mouse construct! Deffo has adhd/autism. She uses she/her and is a lesbian!
Then we have Took Lil-Tell: an owlin ranger/warlock who wants you to think its a rogue! Very much the "Oh he's a lil guy -> oh he's a bit fucked up actually!" Looks like a sweet, trustworthy tbh creature, big fan of knives, mischief, and thievery. But look at their lil face, you wouldn't hurt them would you? No, you can't, and while you're unable to fight them they're snickering and giggling at you. Awful, I love him. It's aroallo and uses it/they/he btw!
Finally we have the beloved bastard: Sir Finley Prayfallow. A rune knight fighter tabaxi who should probably start investing in barbarian because Wow is she easily riled up. This cat is Miles Edgeworth meets Pirate Joe and he sucks soooo bad. Like, most stuck up cat Ever. British /neg. Kinda pathetic too. I love her, I hate her, she lives in my head rent free. He literally went to a school for knights and yet somehow has the strangest honor code ever. He would call you a slur but only one he can reclaim himself. I hope he changes or dies <3. Also she uses he/she and is very gay.
So yeah those are my blorbos I have Many More in my backpockets but those are the main ones me and the party obsess over. Hope this is enough info!

Broken Bonds:
for this, i will be copying the description from friend of the show tournament @chompe-diem’s comments on round one. they are as follows.
zirk and stella confrontation. ok i could go on about this for ages so let me just pull some quotes
> "when will it be enough!" (caldwell pcs yelling. mwah easy way to the heart)
> "You're stuck. i've spent so much time trying to fix things and you're the one thing that's always broken, and I, I just can't anymore; there's other people that need me, okay?"
just the move of fia's suggestion and then. man i fuckin love the way murph narrated stella in that. her just absentmindedly taking it apart as she keeps talking, it just,,, it does things to my brain
henry's obviously been a pretty shit dad so far, but the way hank/jake so genuinely and naturally acts protective of hank jr when he's chewing out stella. it's just a nice touch, it really adds
stella vervain. yes all the above points involved her but she's one of my favourite npcs and this ep is where u truly see all of her and what she is.
the reveal of big rex and little rex moxora and prophet cain
batilda's heartfelt moment with fia, the i love you
emily with the momentary stasis and pretty much saving batilda's life by incapacitating cain
zirk w the nat 1 death save
bukvar getting taken by moxora and having the form of a bookish little boy who could be fia's brother- *sobs*
and the whole philosphical/emotional ending w fia and the crew etc etc
Crown of Dreams:
The Duck Team races back to the Crick to track down the missing members of the Old Folks’ Circle!
Glen made his escape from the Time Out Tree with assistance from a grenade, which Callie assumed was the one she gifted to Cooter (Glen’s father).
After some investigating at Eloise’s (member of the OFC) stump, they see some suspicious tracks that lead them to Cooter’s stump at the edge of town.
In Cooter’s stump Frogson and Holmes find Glen’s old room, and his various journals. He had wanted to be a ranger captain by 50 and Peepaw of the crick by 100. [Fool.] He had books on Moonshine and Marabelle, and he idolized them. He had a note from Meemaw saying “we will not rain arrows down from our towers. we will always shine a light.” in response to him suggesting they go to war. They also discovered letters to Eloise and determined that she walked from her stump and was a co-conspirator.
The Duck Team was then met outside by Cooter, apologizing. He sent them into a trap, where Glen was waiting with the trapped Old Folks, the Evil Old Folks, and Meemaw (also trapped). After attempts that incapacitated most of the Duck Team, Glen attempted to wrench Ultrus from the helm while Calder was unconscious. Calder resisted.
Sol fell unconscious, and rolled a nat 1 on a death save (very on brand for caldwell). Callie got polymorphed into a nannerfly. Seeing this through a vision in his helm, Calder offered his body to Ultrus in exchange for the giant saving Callie and Sol. Calder just wanted to be useful. "Perhaps you have a giant's heart after all, Calder Kildé."
After slamming Glen against a wall, Ultrus caused the corrupt Old Folks to flee, and he, Callie, and Sol stood at an impasse. Calder apologized to his friends and Ultrus took him away, into the woods.
Glen then revealed that the only being that might be able to help with their problem of the trapped Old Folks was Mawmaw, but that was impossible, as he had sent his mind-controlled father to kill her.
But Cooter, ever the berry boy, used a goodberry to save Mawmaw, resisting the geas spell, causing him to go unconscious. Cooter's action confuse the hell out of Glen, who cannot believe his father would do that, knowing he would likely not survive it, proving his intense misunderstanding of the Crick and of his father once and for all. Callie and Sol helped revive him, and both he and Mawmaw were safe.

ok so vrv Benry helmet headcanons
in my Benry post i mentioned i think that the Boss is the most comfortable being without his helmet and an order of which is least to most attached to always wearing their helmet
as previously stated: Boss, Polite, Worldstop then Mailman
Neo is not included but i believe he had a phase of wearing a specific beanie everyday all the time, it was a black beanie with subtle skull designs in the stitching and they stuck a badge that HAS to be read to the tune of YMCA but its Mothman.
to my knowledge Boss is never actually seen with a helmet (minus the one daft punk helmet in Episode 2-) he has a visor instead and theres nothing stopping him from having both a helmet AND visor ,,,,,unless hes not as attached to having a helmet on all the time like some of the other Benrys-
Polite Benry works with a family of Mad scientists, the helmet is 79% just there to follow proper laboratory safety protocol. and 21% because hes gotten quite attached to it- but that doesn't mean he wears it ALL the time- yes in all his canon appearances we DO see him with it but in In Your Dreams he is working with the others in the lab, when taken by Capital M in Episode 2 it can be assumed they HAD been working in the lab prior to the kidnapping and though he isn't working in Trouble In Paradise he does remark "i knew bringing my helmet was a good idea" (he uses it to coax a group of seagulls to him with fries) which to me implies that he doesn't usually go many places with the helmet?? so outside of the lab he probably keeps it on a designated coat hook orr carries it around,,
Worldstop i personally think Worldstop keeps his helemt on as a safety precaution for others- Benry is aware that he is in a video game and that he is a bit fucked up even before Kittle begins bending the code, he literally has a missing texture on the inside of his helemt (and in my headcanon the entire model of his hair is incorrectly textured) and its likely that such a sight could BREAK other npcs so he keeps it on mostly to avoid causing damage to others. but as he unprompted shows Kittle the inside of his helmet in the actual Worldstop AU fic i don't believe he's all that embarrassed of his hair- though his helmet still likely holds some sentimental value outside of it being as a way to avoid damaging the game further,, it also makes him feel safer
And at the bottom of the list, the one who most DESPISES taking off his helmet we have our lovely Mailman- who actually got so ANGRY at the emails during the sleepover in the original ask blog when they wanted him to take off the helmet (and because they were being pushy about his morals & feelings--) he absolutely hates the idea. even in the 1999 flashback; while Benry does eventually take off his helmet for a second hes embarrassed about it. sorry to get sort of down here but i think he already didn't much like his hair in 1999 and then while being trapped throughout the 2 years project shutdown his hatred of his hair grew along with many of his other insecuritys,,,, and Pinkrey considers the helmet a comfort item-
on a slightly lighter note i also have a few stim related headcanons:
inspired of Swaps own act of tapping on his helmet occasionally (which i really hope is an actual canon thing and not something i made up becuase i am SO sure- (i couldn't find it in my brief search))
• Polite Benry occasionally drums on the helmet when he isn't wearing it because he likes the noise, he would nver do it while wearing it however as its a bit too loud- he sometimes sits with the helmet in his lap as he taps and drums on it with either his hands or any pen/pencil in his hand
• Politer Benrey sometimes also spins the screws that hold together a replaced patch that got damaged
•not a stim but Polite Benry usually keeps a spare glowstick in his helmet-
• Boss sometimes taps his fingers on the arms of his visor when hes thinking and is often seen readjusting them like a pair of glasses when hes nervous
• Worldstop can tap the Mario Bros theme on his helmet and it ticks off Bubby everytime he recognises it-
• Worldstop & Mailman both have the same tapping the side of the helmet with their knuckles stim and when feeling more overwhelmed by noise may knock on it loudly to basically say "ITS TOO LOUD" without using words (i have autism so THEY get autism too /light joking)
• and a final projection headcanon is that Mailman (& Swap if he has it on) will grab at their helmet to push it onto their head further if they get scared suddenly (Swap still has this reflex even without the helmet on and that can snap him out of the scare when he grabs at thin air-)
• and an honourable Neo mention Neo sometimes wears Swaps helmet (canon) and will scratch the end of a pen on it because their brain likes the scratchy noise

So first right to get this out of the way I won’t go too much into detail what it is about since I believe 2(?) of my players follow me here and I don’t want them to get spoiled for stuff we haven’t reached. But I can share these silly NPCS!!
As well as the oneshot (yes this is a oneshot) is called Stuck in Smiles and is a Horror/Halloween based oneshot 😋
Below thou are three of the NPCS that I get to play! Dinko was and still is currently the players favorite in this household so… I mean i can’t blame them thou. She’s a skrunkly birdddd (she’s not blind btw)
Tumblr media
But anyways she’s sorta like a guide basically but the players decided to steal her from the candy shopkeeper and now are in a mysterious mansion in a different Demi-plane 👍
I’m said Demi-plane they meet two other children, I forgot to mention this but all the players’ characters are small children as we have a stat blocker(?) that de-ages them or somethin I don’t remember off the top my head.
But anywaysss they meet other children there which I can’t ramble much about them rn besides the fact that Sha is currently missing and the last time that any of the players saw him was through a keyhole laying on the ground being dragged away…
while Jia um she’s possessing one of the players now 😀 (they volunteered btw I didn’t give them this option) since they want Jia to help find Sha since the two are friends(ish)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Here are their goals though nowww as of Session 1!!
Take care of Jia if anything happens to Sha
Find or Make Jia a new body to possess for herself
Find and Rescue Sha
Make it out of the Mansion
Also yes I am aware my art style looks different in each one of the pieces, my art style fluctuates depending on what I use and the day 👍

please tell us more about your tower maiden dnd game
Ooh ok!
So, the tower maiden in question is actually a player character, the lovely and terrible G.100, by @aceofvase.
Tumblr media
My campaign was actually inspired by movies like The Monster Squad and Van Helsing, so our main cast of NPCs are all based on Universal monsters. The original plan was to have a Frankenstein monster NPC who would occasionally aid the party, BUT, Miss Vase beat me to the punch.
G.100 is soul-stitched, a homebrew race similar to a flesh golem, but overall more capable and intelligent. Created by blending necromancy with engineering, powered by electricity, and requiring the individual parts of about ten different people, in this story the soul-stitched were brought about by an elven man called Isla Gryffith, primarily through his own efforts at achieving some form of immortality, but eventually with the intention of creating the perfect lover. G.100 is, somewhat obviously, his hundredth attempt, and one of only about three or four to be considered a success.
Due to the taboo nature of his work, (and, you know, all the murder involved) Isla primarily lived and operated out of a fortified lighthouse, in an area known for dangerous bandit raids, where people often disappear anyway. He and G.100 lived there in isolation for about a year, with her being kept in the dark over how exactly she was created. Upon discovering the horrible truth (again, cannot stress the amount of murder involved in this process), G.100 threw Isla from the top of the lighthouse tower, in a fit of rage. However, as previously mentioned, the building had been heavily fortified, including several locks on the front door, which could only be opened by key. There was only one, and Isla had it on his person when he was killed.
As such, G.100 spent the next 15 years of her life stuck inside the lighthouse. Functionally immortal, and without the need to eat or sleep, she spent her time reading books, studying magic, and overall trying not to think too hard about the nature of her existence, or her creator, whom she was still regretfully in love with. At a point it became a conscious choice to stay there; she could have broken the door down, or escaped out a window, or even jumped from the tower and aimed for the ocean, but spiritually, she would always be trapped in that tower anyway. Her refusal to move on went so far that she has still never given herself a proper name, preferring not to be referred to at all.
Eventually, she ran out of electrical charge, which resulted in her essentially falling asleep... for a little over a hundred years. Long enough for the lighthouse to collapse around her. Now exposed to the open air, she was promptly struck by lightning and reawakened, only to realize that there was now quite literally nothing left to keep her there. When she meets up with the rest of the party at the campaign's start, she's technically only been outside for about a year.
Tumblr media
As the game has progressed, she's somehow managed to both open up, and close herself off further. Initially, she attempted to put on an upbeat persona, going so far as to pretend to be a bard for the first part of the game, but since growing a bit more comfortable with her surroundings, her more grumpy nature has begun to show through, and her abilities as a warlock have grown powerful enough that she can't really hide them anymore. She's also begun romancing one of the series antagonists, which has drawn her a bit further out of her shell.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah, it's a real specific kind of tower, and technically while she was in it she presented as masc, since canonically she is trans, but all that really means is she didn't start leaning into the Tower Maiden aesthetic until fairly recently. In fact, I think her most recent redesign really reflects that particular vibe:
Tumblr media
So yeah! That's just one of the wonderful players I've been getting to DM for, I think she's so cool, I've done literally so much fanart of her (as you can see), and I'm so excited to see her character arc continue to progress! If you want to know more about her, I suggest taking a look through her character tag over on @aceofvase's blog, or asking her for further detail <3

Azure Moon - Prologue to Chapter 4
Alright, here we go! I’m taking a small break from writing my GW review to play some of this route.
Also, bear in mind... I’m about to go on a very long trip, and I will not have as much time to play during that time.
So, updates will be... slower. Sorry about that.
Story
They are treating us to a feast! They all want to get to know him over a meal! Besides Felix, he’s all “Let’s fight”.
And they are offering to show him around too. Urg, they are so nice.
This is honestly the best “welcome to our house” of the lot
Sylvain likes it if you play it smart and not rush into the fortress
Felix literally did a “I’m not trapped in here with them, they are trapped in here with me” comment, amazing
OMG Dedue is so tall
Jeritza has been a teacher since last year (again, not the teacher theory!)
Dimitri not laughing crazily at Alois’s bad jokes is a missed opportunity.
Wait, they were able to find other people who were kidnapped by Tomas and get testimonies? Did I miss that in my other playthroughs?
Aw, “we will be right behind you!” I think they are the only group who has said they join with him after him.
I’m telling you, whoever voiced that Knight of Seiros in the Solon scene... has such a nice voice. I hope that knight lived through the war.
Alright, here we go, let’s go kill Dimitri’s awful uncle.
Aw, Dimitri is just checking in. Pretty sure Claude came to investigate, but Dimitri is just “you ok there?”
He’s so precious.
“Power is neutral” Yessir it is.
Rufus wants to kill Felix’s entire line because they support Dimitri. Dimitri didn’t really say this but... imagine, like “Who dares threatens my boyfriend’s bloodline?!”
Finally, Catherine on our side and not a bloody enemy.
Oh no, wait, it’s Gilbert they are sending. Still!
Annette doesn’t join us due to politics, unfortunately. I get it though. But Ashe is willing to go regardless of that.
Wtf, they even read his letters while Dimitri was under “house arrest”? That assholes
The old letter about a merchant complaining they can’t trade in duscur anymore is just..... here, in the camp. lol
One NPC is like “I can’t tell what Dimitri is thinking!” and all scared about it. Lol
Some knights are trapped in the capital despite being loyal to Dimitri
Rufus is a bitch, Rufus is a bitch ~ ♫
Rufus, if you think he’s a beast, it’s cause of YOU.
Dimitri called his uncle “my lord”. He’s too gracious here
Felix, calm down, he’s about to kill his uncle
Dimitri, you aren’t breaking the peace. Rufus did, the slimy bastard
I’m not going to lie, but the execution scene is very, very clever. The way you see from Rufus’ point of view as the sword falls, so you know his head was divorced from his body without having to actually see it
Poor Dimitri tho, having to kill his own uncle. You can see that it bothers him. It seems so cruel to make him do it, but do it he must.
Hello, Margrave. Alas, I cannot accept you into my Dilf harem.
Man, Rodrigue having to pass on the torch because of Duscur when he didn’t do anything.... He is too good for this world.
“Also, Gustave, you stay. No, I said so.”
Since there is so much corruption ran through the knights, Dimitri has made a commoner army.
So, Edelgard hires Shez to lead as a commander of an army of mercenaries. Claude hires Shez 2 years later to be a commander just... in general. And Dimitri is like “I want you to lead them, my new army of commoners.”
Felix being nice and bowing is..... SO CUTE
Yup, can’t reject the Church here. It’s literally stuck between a hard place and a rock.
Like, a real political talk here, nice to see instead of “CHURCH BAD”
And I like seeing Dimitri finally LEAD
Shez talking with someone else BESIDES a main cast member?! Interesting
“There’s not a ruler in the world without their fair share of critics, right?” SB and GW would have me fooled.
There is an NPC that married into House Gautier. But even though it wsa arranged by Dimitri (to lessen the power of the western lords), the guy and his wife actually did want to marry
It’s interesting. Both GW and AG have NPCs who know people in the Abyss. But in SB, it’s “just a report”.
It’s nice that they actually gave the Duscur NPCs a different skin tone
“You’ve got an eye fo- You’ve got an eye f- You’ve got an eye for quality, friend!”
“Rhea and Seteth punish anyone in the church who takes a bribe.” Huh, no shit?
It’s interesting, quite a few of the NPCs are on a seemingly personal basis with Shez
Felix has a living mother! Who knew? She survived the mother curse! (She and Felix’s uncle are watching the lands while he is away)
They barely have enough resources to take on the refugees (but are doing it anyway!)
Aw, Dimitri apologies for dragging you into this mess.
Ah, so we get Hapi and Petra in chapter 4
It’s nice to rescue Cyril and not kill him this time
Same with Catherine and Rhea
Not really sure WHY Hapi is here but ok
And it’s so nice to see Rhea care about Cyrl. She cared about him in the other routes too but still
FINALLY I can fight Hubert, lol
Dimitri is already torturing himself.
Felix, fuck off, stop being a jerk.
I’m not really sure what you were trying to reason, Felix. You came in and berated him first.
Urg... Claude. :/
“I don’t know if I can trust Dimitri” fuck off
At least the Alliance sounds more together here than they did in SB
And also, fuck off Lonato
I wish we could meet Duke Ifan. She sounds cool.
Dimitri is so much taller than Shez, kek
Hm, why wasn’t Flayn someone we had to rescue in that chapter I wonder?
Gatekeeper is playable, let’s goooooo
Supports
Shez and Dimitri C - Dimitri feels guilty for the loss of a village while they gathered up the last of Klieman’s forces. He went to bury the dead alone He’s such a bleeding heart. :(
Shez and Felix C - “I can tell you like Dimitri and the others” “Urk! B-baka! Listen, Dimitri rushes in so I have to cover him since he doesn’t care about his safety! And Ingrid doesn’t see the archers always so I have to take care of them first. And the idiot likes to show off so I have to be closer to him. It’s just NATURAL, not because I LIKE them, GAWD”
Shez and Sylvain C - This is the first time we actually talk about the magic sword Shez has. Well... no, I guess it’s not. Linhardt talks about how the sword seems... cold, inhuman. But this is another support that actually talks about it. Sylvain is trying to think about weapons that don’t rely on a bloodline for the security of the future.
Shez and Ingrid C - This one is complicated. It’s basically the bloodlines and shit. How it’s all mixed up and who gets what Crest can sometimes be a luck of the draw. But Crests are valued for the use of the Heroes’ Relics, not because it’s a fancy crest thing. It’s almost like this shit isn’t just as simple as “Crest from one family, be heir!” And having a Crest doesn’t even mean you will be heir, but it’s up to the family usually. Heck, she’s going to inherit the title because her PEOPLE want her to take charge.
Ingrid and Rodrigue C - Another interesting support about tactics. That’s it though. Her brother had suggested the strategy once. I wish we could meet the rest of her family, they sound nice.
Shez and Annette C - Cute support, Shez sang Annette’s song and she was a bit upset since it wasn’t done yet. Whoopsie.
Shez and Rodrigue C - “It’s fucking cold here” “Yup, but pretty. Damn the snow though” C support achieved. Well, we get more Kingdom culture. Pegasi are a particularly sight unique sight in the Kingdom since snow prevents the use of horses in the winter. And Felix and Dimitri, as lads, followed a pegasus into the mountains and were huddled together in the cold. Dumb, poor babies. Still, the Kingdom gets more culture stuff in general than the other two nations, honestly.
Mercedes and Dimitri C - This support really should be locked until we actually rescue Rhea. Still.... Dimitri is giving people a home who would otherwise be homeless due to the war. Jesus, after the other two routes, it finally feels like this is a good guy route.
And Dimitri, the Empire was going to invade regardless what what you did, really.
Books
Exquisite Old Letter
A merchant had business in Fhirdiad, but it was canceled.
The king had gone to meet with leaders of Duscur but were killed by attackers from Duscur on their way. All were killed, except for the young prince.
Soldiers were sent to raze Duscur. Fhirdiad was in chaos without a king. Duscur is being punished for a few extremists
Can no longer trade with Duscur. A shame, because there is gold to be mined near Gwenhwyvar and their blacksmiths are exceptional.

Woah i just noticed your bio said ”ask about my dnd campaign” so may i just… do that? like i know ive seen bits and pieces on my timeline, but if ever you feel like infodumping about it, pls feel free too!! id love to hear about it
ok buckle up!!!!
So my campaign actually just ended in February. Our party was the dragonborn cleric/rogue Krista, tiefling monk Bella, centaur warlock Eddie, and my half-elf sorcerer Brie. The campaign was heavily inspired by taz balance... The party's home base was a city called Astra, led by a council of four NPCs who each represented an element. Early on in the campaign the party discovered a cursed book that gave them nightmares of a really fucked up deer and spiral symbols while rescuing Barry Bluejeans Jimmy Jorts. The party then went through a series of element-themed arcs and slowly discovered pieces of a big puzzle.
The Air arc was first, and the party won a dragon race and did a heist against fantasy joe exotic (this was back in May 2020), recovering a relic that revealed that the gods of the elements, which the city of Astra historically relied on for their wisdom, had died in a horrible war. Meanwhile, they gave their Cursed Deer Book to one of the council members (Humboldt, my beloved retired gnome!), and set him up on a date with his coworker, a human wizard named Iris. I think they also discovered the mysterious Forest Clearing of five pillars outside the city at this point too, which they were led to by the Oracle (a dog, who talks but only rarely).
The second arc was Earth, where the party went on a rescue mission for Krista's friend and navigated a Home Alone-style orphanage and a crypt full of otherworldly cultists. They also came face-to-face with the BBEG in this one on accident, but all they learned was that he was a shadowy god in the astral plane with lots of spiral imagery, locked up in chains. The next collective deer nightmare was really confusing, because the deer speaking to them seemed to confuse them with someone they knew, and they also didn't have the book anymore. But, most importantly, the deer threatened to unleash the apocalypse and told the party that their time was running out, as the solar eclipse is in just a few months.
The next arc and my personal favorite was Water, where the party was sent after a passage into the Plane of Water on a hunt for clues about the Goddess of Water's death and how to stop the next apocalypse. This dnd campaign can fit so many pirates in it. The party got stuck in a time loop on a pirate ship, and each loop ended with the goddess Umberlee/the Kraken destroying the ship. The party had to deceive the captain (Bella's ex, the vampirate Edward Cullen. I shit you not) and return Umberlee's mermaid daughter to her to break the loop. After breaking the loop they were transported to the plane of water where they discovered the ruins of a triton city and murals revealing that the shadowy spiral god, Tharizdun, and the secret fifth elemental god (god of Void), had killed the other Elemental gods. The party met a triton soldier named Kelp (he's just underwater Link and this is underwater BOTW) who eventually gifted the party the Bond Blade.
God. Let me TELL YOU about the Bond Blade, my pride and joy. This sword is literally powered by love. You whisper a name of someone you love to activate it, with varying degrees of strength. It was made to kill Tharizdun. The elemental gods failed against their traitorous friend because he cornered each of them, killing them separately, and by the time he got to the Water Goddess who wielded the sword, it was useless to her as her strongest bonds were severed by death. Anyway, it's like a hilt with a broken blade and when you activate it it forms a beam of light like a light saber. On a crit (18 and up!) in it's strongest form, it deals like 12d12 damage. I fucking love this dumb sword.
Anyway. The party killed Vampirate Edward Cullen who turned out to have also been a Tharizdun cultist because why not. When the party returned home though, they discovered that their friend Humboldt (remember our little gnome friend from before? Did I mention he was originally based on Jack Black's character in Jumanji?) had fallen into a deep paranoia/agoraphobia because of this cursed deer book he's studying for the party. The party only discovered this because they found his girlfriend (and their boss) Iris getting stood up at Fantasy Olive Garden. When they pressed her for an explanation about why she was eating dinner alone, she broke down in tears about it under a zone of truth. The party confronted Humboldt, and it was, and I quote, "some silence of the lambs shit" level of creepy (I've never seen silence of the lambs). My little gnome blorbo was doodling spirals on his hands, actively being posessed by Tharizdun and immediately Not Remembering It, and cackling like a damn villain. Have you ever had a good DM Cackle? It's so fucking powerful.
The party and Iris want to help Humboldt and hear something about a "black rock" in the mountains. The party travels to these mountains and discovers, you guessed it, another cult! But this one is led by a tiefling woman and a - well, a false hydra. The party figured this out in the middle of a 5-dimensional trauma dungeon (the "initiation rites" that were supposed to break them emotionally). Conveniently, the dimensional dungeon was also taking place within the black rock, which is a giant eldritch cube floating in the middle of a volcano where this cult is based. This is some critical role level shit now. The party's like, level 15 by this point? After escaping the dungeon and killing the cult leader and false hydra, the party had to evacuate the erupting volcano and grabbed some black rock on their way out.
They get back to Astra just before the eclipse and prepare for ???? the end of the world??? The day of, Iris and Humboldt meet them at the Oracle's altar and then they all go to the Forest Clearing together... and shit gets weird. Humboldt goes full tilt posessed and Iris does too, and everyone's confused and sorta fighting them from completing a ritual. The ritual opens a portal, and out steps just about the worst thing you can possibly summon that's not a god - a Nightwalker. The nightwalker traps Krista, the party's healer (!), in the astral plane (essentially killing her). The party fights the thing, which was really fucking hard because I had FOUR NPCS in this fight (Iris, Humboldt - who very almost died-, a bard named Keats, and my girlie Brie) and the party still almost died. Shit.
To end the fight, Keats, who was Krista's enemies-to-lovers-but-platonic-soulmates love interest, decides to sacrifice himself to bring Krista back and banish the nightwalker. This is how the nightwalker works, folks. Krista and Keats met on the shore of the astral sea as they passed each other by out of/into death, and by the end of it we had the whole table crying. Krista vows to save him one day.
We haven't even made it to the final boss fight yet.
After some wild crazy magic happens with that one, the party figures out how to activate the pillars in the forest clearing. The oracle dog transforms into Ao, our ouroboros overgod, and reveals that the party are the reincarnations of the elemental gods. This was really fun because each party member actually emulated an element on their own, so it fit so naturally. I made them all cry again, but happy tears this time. This was what the whole campaign was working towards. This was the big reveal that I hinted to for ages! The party also learns here that Tharizdun was corrupted by a black hole, which he placed in his heart, on a desperate search for something to fill the Void that he is.
So Tharizdun, that guy? Big, shadowy eldritch horror chained up in the astral plane? yeah he gets out. It's the eclipse after all. They all knew this was coming to some degree, and I let each player pick something they specifically wanted in this big boss fight. One of my players requested that Magnus Burnsides fight with them... so the 7 birds answered the call. The party spends some time on a battle field, kills some eldritch cultists, invading giant space worms, and then Tharizdun rears his ugly deer-skull eldritch head. Magnus Fucking Burnsides helps them wail on Tharizdun with some really OP weapons. Folks, let's keep in mind that Magnus canonically Can't Die (yet) so this was uhhhh hard! I somehow got him out of that fight. Tharizdun corrupts Eddie our warlock (think TMA-style) and very nearly kills our monk Bella. Krista polymorphed Eddie to neutralize him and when Tharizdun thought his work here was done he popped back to the astral plane for safety, to watch the apocalypse from afar. The party found him though, but knew they couldn't kill him or it would either destroy the world or permanently corrupt Eddie. Tharizdun was so angry and bitter. He knew he'd been beat but he couldn't admit it, insisting there was no going back. It was pitiful. He was practically begging to be killed, and down to 23 HP, but Krista?? Pried the black hole out of his heart?? with the Bond Blade????
She literally. Used the power of love to remove the void of hate and nihilism from their oldest friend.
And then she stabbed Tharizdun where it had been before. This transformed Tharizdun into a new god, a void fawn of acceptance and joy, ending the apocalypse.
(this is the part where I cried the most).
After saving the world, the party celebrated by thowing a circus in honor of their old bard friend Keats. Krista eventually used a Wish to resurrect him, but in the way that she worded it, and using part of the black rock for the spell... his soul came back, but in the rock. Some FMAB shenanigans later and we have a warforged bard boy, back to live out the rest of his days with his platonic soulmate. Eddie settled down with his love interest, the innkeeper, and they lived a nice little cottagecore lifestyle afterwards, with Eddie meeting up with Humboldt regularly to talk out the trauma of their Tharizdun corruption arcs. Bella, on the other hand, broke up with her boyfriend, which was just. so fucking funny? And the campaign ended with our new void fawn friend frolicking in the forest clearing outside the circus celebration before disappearing, looking for new bonds to forge and stories to tell.
....All this because my friend wanted to try Lost Mines of Phandelver (or, "Here There be Gerblins") when covid hit the US.

"Come for the story, stay for the monsters, Part 2" or: Why I find the MH Stories games to be so very average
And by "average", I mean "not good, but playable" compared to many other games I own. Allow me to eloborate:
MH:Stories The most obvious weak points of the first MH: Stories were its graphics and level design. Bland landscapes and creepy, featureless silhouettes where NPCs would spawn into being hinted at problematic hardware restrictions. In addition to that, many dungeons consisted of the same set of rooms. This applies to the procedurally generated monster nests, but even main dungeons had only some original rooms strewn into the mix.
Gameplay-wise, you could only obtain about 5 new monsters per area (unless you were in post-game), and it took forever until you were able to get any of the more well-designed monsters. Even the "Great Jaggi" or "Great Baggi" that are fairly unexciting in MH: Tri made a very late appearance. Not to mention that fan favorites like the Tigrex or (black) Nargacuga were only obtainable post game.
The story is predictable, but kind of ok, if you like Rathalos. As for me, I don't like Rathalos, and having this non-imaginatively named "Ratha" being fixed in the 6th slot of my party did not make me like him more. Also, the story promises you to get an Elder dragon, but doesn't deliver. Oh well.
On the other hand, however; the battles are actually fun. They work by a stone, scissors, paper principle - which is new and refreshing for a RPG. You have to memorize the opponent's pattern and act accordingly. Patterns can be pretty complex, but your defenses usually leave some room for trial and error. There is also a fantastic system that lets you transfer abilities from one monster to another to craft your favorite "Monstie" into an all-purpose warrior. In conclusion; there are many things to criticize, but the main gameplay element - the battles - as well as the ability to collect and befriend many of the fabulous Monster Hunter Monsters, make it a title that fans of Monster Hunter and RPGs are likely to enjoy. Others probably not so much.
MH:Stories 2 The sequel, using the Nintendo Switch as platform, did not suffer the same hardware restraints. Environments are bigger, more detailed and more lush. Unfortunately, however, the procedurally generated dungeons make a reappearance, too, and it feels like there are even more of them (or they are bigger, both of which is not good). There are more monsters to collect, along with new ones from MH: World and a greater number of obtainable Elder Dragons. It also doesn't take quite as long for fan favorites to appear as you progress the story.
Which takes us to ... the story. Despite the series' name, its story is certainly not its selling point. The story of MH:S2 is confusingly similar to that of its prequel, not just, but also because many characters from the prequel make a reappearance. They seemingly do not remember a "hero" from back then, but the new hero's grandfather would sort of fit that role. Was that an element scrapped at the last minute? We are also stuck again with a "cursed" Rathalos named "Ratha" (Seriously, they still could not think of anything better?) - which also locks into the 6th slot of the party for the story's duration.
So, can the battle system make up for it like in the prequel? Yes ... and no. There is still the "gene enhancement" system, battles still work the same way, are still fun, but the opponent's patterns are simpler and there is less room for error. This might be because you can take friends or NPCs with their monsters into battle with you - meaning they are potential targets as well. But your influence on these NPCs is very limited and they do not "predict" the opponent's pattern as effectively as you, meaning they might be less supportive and more of a hindrance sometimes.
In total, the first game had a lot of potential to improve, and while the sequel fixed some of those issues (visuals), it also added new ones (battles) while others grew worse (story) or remained unfixed (dungeons). Overall, it comes back down to the average: An enjoyable game for fans of Monster Hunter and RPGs, for others perhaps not so much.

BG3 playthrough - Baldur’s Gate is ENORMOUS
I didn’t think I could be more overwhelmed but somehow this game just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Which is fine, but… my pathetic little mac can’t deal with it. The deeper I get into the city, the worse the gameplay gets, and it’s so bad now, so bad. I wish there was an even more basic barebones graphics level below low.
Spoilers:
The dark urge flavour in the tabernacle was neat. My character left a big donation for the seldarine goddess not out of religious devotion but as a spiteful fuck-you to daddy. I like that Bhaal answers back. Very fun. And Astarion continues in his theme of being grumpy about anything religious. I don’t know, buddy. After he mentioned being thankful that it was my plot that freed him, I can’t help but look at the whole coincidence of it all and wonder if that was the answer to his prayers, even though it took a long time to play out.
I got to Sorcerous Sundries. The thing that upset me the most about Rolan wasn’t his face, it wasn’t the shitty situation he described, no, somehow the thing that upset me the most was that he wasn’t even bothering to be arrogant and rude anymore. It was that little detail that made me feel the worst and made me understand how bad things were. Poor buddy. It’s ok, Aylin broke Lorroakan over her fucking knee. God I love her.
What an irritating fight though. I accidentally brought all squishy spellcasters with me when maybe a good fighter would have been more efficient. (sigh, Lae’zel, I will find you soon, I promise) My tav freshly leveled up to 11 and I finally, FINALLY got OTTO’S IRRESISTABLE DANCE. Ooooooh I’ve been waiting forever for that. I cast it on Lorroakan right at the start and it was great, kept him quiet the entire fight while we chipped away at all his goddamned elementals until we were ready to kick his ass. Oh my god oh my GOD was it ever funny watching him boogie the whole time in the corner, getting angry every turn and threatening us as he did his little shuffle. I laughed and laughed and laughed. BEST SPELL EVER. Can’t wait to use it on Gortash and Orin. Rolan ended up getting the final killing hit in, which made me pleased. I’ve had Shovel summoned and following Astarion ever since I read the scroll mid-act-1, and sadly she got zapped in the fight and I didn’t notice until a few hours later. I could reload and redo the fight to keep her alive, but myeh I dunno, maybe it’s her time. Gale still knows how to summon her if we want her back.
I don’t have patch 6 yet - mac users always have to wait longer - so I don’t get to see the new fight cinematics yet. I assume that once the patch comes out, I’ll be able to load old save slots up and watch it then?...
After that, I was just dicking around and found the whole lower level of the tower and all the stuff that goes with that totally by accident.
I did the whole newspaper quest thingie, and managed to do it mostly by just sneaking really good, only ended up using one single invisibility potion… but I don’t know if my game is bugged or what, I was a bit disappointed, the next morning the quest had succeeded and NPCs talk to me like I’m a celebrity now, but the newspaper wasn’t about me. If I succeed or if I fail, the paper is always just random unrelated headlines. I was wanting a funny and relevant story! :( Ah well. Sneaking through there around the guards was a pain in the ass and a half but I’m low on invisibility potions :( Until I get some more I need to be careful.
The only thing more fun than exploring and finding all the neat little details is doublechecking with my daughter who is also playing, and seeing how much she has MISSED because she just speeds through with no patience for the exploring. Lmao. She’s currently stuck at Shadowheart’s big fight in the House of Grief. I popped down there myself to take a look and shee-it, that is definitely a nasty stupid fight.
Dang there’s so much stuff here in the city though. I honestly can’t even remember all of what I’m supposed to be doing. I’m kind of in the mood to hurry up and get to the Cazador fight, but there’s so much city to explore between here and there. And my computer lags and lags and lags.

I finished Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow. I definitely enjoyed reading it, though the characters were not super relatable. I'm trying to think of interesting insights I had reading the book because I feel self-conscious about writing a vapid review. I was not very convinced by Sadie and Sam's relationship towards the end. This unshakeable unbreakable bond they supposedly had and all the symbolism surrounding it was over the top for me, especially the part about them getting married in Pioneers. The beginning of the book was very compelling, with the jumps between the present and Sam and Sadie's complicated backstory. I'm not sure what to think about Marx as a character. As much as Sam and Sadie referred to him as an NPC, I also felt that he was an NPC in the role he played in the book. Some people like a book based on how much they like the characters. If I ever write a book, I want to write a main character who is purposely unlikeable. Anyways for how large of a role Marx plays in the novel, I'm not sure what the author wanted to communicate through his character. Clearly something with all the treatment she gave him but I guess I missed it. I enjoyed the parts about making video games though. I thought the details of the games were very convincing, and I'm impressed by the author's imagination for game design. And overall, it was an enjoyable read that kept me turning the pages. I also thought that the author's treatment of smart people in general was apt and accurate, and I appreciated that it didn't lean in too heavily in that aspect either.
Houseboating... I've been telling people it was just okay, and I guess that's accurate. If you gave me prior knowledge of how it would be, I'm not sure if I would go again. But I'm not positive that I wouldn't either. so I guess it was ok. I tried a little bit to meet people but I was too fucking tired most of the time. I kind of regret not talking to Winny on the first night. It's so dumb that I still just revert to omg hot asian girl on trip I need to talk to her mindset. So maybe it's a good thing I didn't initiate a conversation then, and just kept reading tomorrowx3 lmao. I drove and slept in a shitty bed anyways, but I don't feel too miffed about it, its truly whatever. In the words of George, "fuck you tommy". I appreciated when Catherine was nice to me I guess. Honestly I think I'm being a little uncharitable to 69 circle. I think they were nice for the most part and some of them helped and almost all of the rest wouldn't have minded helping. And Tom seemed like overall a really nice guy. I think having two boats just made it so it was way harder to get to know everyone, and with that large of a group people just stuck to who they were comfortable with. Also didn't help that Kevin and Sammy didn't really want to get to know people either. Meeting new people is hard compared to people who've been practicing their whole life.
Finally.. Oyasumi Punpun. This manga hit me kind of hard. I was hoping to relate more to the main character, but honestly I couldn't because things kept happening to punpun, good and bad, to push the storyline forwards while nothing happens in my life. Nevertheless, the themes of wanting to hold onto some ideal while your life turns out nothing like you wanted seemed very real. All the hurt characters just struggling and compromising through life, was a message that I wish people who had happy lives would understand. I didn't really understand punpun's actions after he killed Aiko's mom. I guess it's because i've never murdered someone or been in a similar situation of panic and disorientation. I wonder if the author somehow had insight into that. I really liked how the ending fizzled out. I think it's the best ending punpun could have hoped for. I feel like the author's view of life is darker than mine. I feel like I weigh everything down these days by forcing it to my standards of realism. I wonder how to regain that childlike suspension of disbelief with media. Did I ever really have that?
I have to message Abby about reading tomorrowx3 but I don't really want to. It's gonna be a boring superficial conversation between two people who don't really want to talk to each other. That's what it feels like to me. what if I don't really want to talk to anyone? that attitude is what's gonna get me killed.
