Okay so I’ve got a bit of a kinda sorta really specific af idea that I am 90% I’ll never get to despite loving to bits so imma throw it to the wild and maybe some of you will like parts of it too. Okay? Okay. 

Basic version: DP x DC prompt where Danny’s gotten deaged as part of another bid for the power of Ghost King. The title that Danny now is heir to. Jazz takes the now like 4-to-8 year old Danny, who barely remembers anything besides Jazz Good and Vlad Bad, and flees to Gotham to find help from somebody that Vlad won’t expect them to seek out help from. To leave Danny with while she goes into the Ghost Zone herself to look for help/a solution.

Longer one where I’ve gone a little very insane: 

DP x DC prompt where Vlad’s deaged Danny as part of another bid for the power of Ghost King. The title that Danny now has/is heir to. Either reveal gone wrong when trying to explain because how do they hide this or no reveal at all, just Jazz grabbing her even-littler-than-usual brother and booking it because there’s no time to explain if they’re to keep Danny way from Vlad. Couldn't go into the zone bc for as many allies as Danny has there, there's also so many enemies that could intercept them before they could reach those allies to inform that help is needed (and who knows, maybe the parent's Fenton removed access to their portal from their kiddos for some reason). Danny is still halfa obvs but he doesn’t remember any details about anything. Jazz is Home. Creepy vampire man Bad. Furries in black with masks Do Good (and Jazzy tells him to trust them so he will). Clowns Very Bad. 

 In Gotham, Jazz doesn't try the keeping low thing. Well she does; not using anything besides cash and fake names, ancients what she wouldn’t do for a shower but places want credit cards goddamnit, to not bring attention on them from Vlad. Maybe she’s got a burner to get updates from Sam and Tucker on, about the status of Amity or if they’ve gotten anywhere on their end of the search for a solution, but they all know Vlad is watching them so they don’t know where she and Danny are or what she’s doing. Which is that she goes out at night looking for the bats and birds on purpose to get help for her brother, making waves in the rumour mill but staying hidden during the day. It takes a while; longer than they have time for really and she gets more stupidly desperate. Danny’s with her for every stupid stunt, usually hidden for safety but never so far that she can’t get to him if in seconds if it turns out they’ve gotten tracked down. She won’t run the risk of leaving him in their safe house of the day without her to come back and find him gone.

She decided on Bats rather than Supers or others bc an overshadowed superhero??? Bad. The bats and birds are either Entities not unlike she and Danny are (liminal!jazz agenda my beloved (honestly most of amity park but that’s not quite relevant here)) and thus immune, or they're very trained regular people. Those can still pack a punch but it's not something she can't fight against if they can’t actually be trusted. Not something she hasn't already fought against in the months she’s been in Team Phantom. Not something she hasn’t already fought against while making her escape with Danny.

Leaving Danny with them is going to take every ounce of trust she can muster.

She finds Red Robin or Nightwing first I think and gives the most bare bones of an explanation. Doesn't mention deaged, simply at-risk heir to The Throne Of Infinity and there's a bid for the crown right now by a man that’ll be another tyrant, and "by the ancients, you need to protect him. I'm the best he's got right now but I can't keep him safe and find our allies". That they aren’t metas but there’s too much to explain. "Maybe Danny will explain if he can but just. It'd be so much simpler if we had super powers. Wouldn't have to worry about enemies overshadowing anyone to get them to shoot us if we were all just metas." 

She’s got a bag of Tech, just whatever she and Danny could grab and Go. And a third of it lost when Jazz dropped half of hers in order to pick up Danny to run faster. Think nearly finished schematics, a blaster or two, one Specter Deflector, what may or may not just be a toaster, and crammed into his bug-bag. Or school backpack. A corner of the bag is green with dried ectoplasm from a broken vial that got shattered in the mad dash. 

(I’m a little attached to it being Tim she leaves Danny with. Maybe he tries to pawn him off on one of his brothers, but Danny's already like, imprinted on him. Very "YOU promised Jazz to keep me safe. Jazz left me with YOU >:C" y’know? Or cuz she stressed so very much that he cannot be left without someone guarding him, and bats don't exactly want identity reveal he can't really be left in the cave under the watch of Agent A since Alfred needs to do other things, he gets handed around a little bit between them as heroes only and it's just Timmy's bad luck that he really likes this clever snarky little bean 's the one stuck with Danny on the occasion that plot happens. I just like Tim & Danny time.)

I'm thinking plot tool of Jazz with one of Wulf's claws? As a thing that lets her get into the Zone without portal access or the speeder after finding a Bat to leave Danny with. But no control of where she'll show up, hence not using it when their parents portal wouldn’t work. It Works Like That™ because I Say So™, tho if you have a less mystery McGuffin reliant idea this is by no means obligatory. Just an excuse on a silver platter.

Also tiny Danny, barely awake, trying to grab Jazz and saying not to go cuz it's dangerous/he needs her, only for his hand to go intangible through her. Did I mention yet that he doesn’t have control of his powers?

And of course, Vlad tracks Danny down. 

And he’s big bad.

AI and the value of labour (but only if it's yours)

Few of you have missed the whole AI/AI-art/ChatGPT-debate by now and even though few have the technical literacy to actually know what it is and its implementations, it hasn't stopped people from having opinions on it, and wow they sure are Opinions. It's mainly about how it's art-theft and will put already struggling artists out of business because now there's a chance that their dandelion found in a deviantart furry artwork they made using GIMP once will now be seen made sort of in the same style on a 250x250 pixel generated picture from a free online generator. And now I'm going to be snarky about it but also highlight a problem seen from the other end of this - the value of labour, and I'm not talking about the artists labour here.

But first let's look back a little bit for some well-needed perspective:

The logic for this is nothing we haven't seen before; you can't copy art and have it made available for just everyone to use like this! In the early 2000's it put musicians out of business and destroyed music forever with the introduction of napster. Pirate bay is why movies no longer are being made. It has destroyed art as we know it when people tauntingly right-clicked on a cryptobro's NFT and clicked "save as" (which I assume is also very problematic for the people who are vehemently against AI art? It's a literal 1-to-1 copy of your work). Media corporations are dying because intellectual properties are no longer protected under the copyright laws after 70 or so years. In the 90's there was even some video star who literally murdered a radio star. With the introduction of vinyl, it even killed live music forever.

So technology has been destroying just about all forms of art as we know it for a while now and each time it's the same doomsday predictions from the newly formed kind of art-christianity where some art has soul (Good, Skilled Laboured artists) and others hasn't (Evil, of course).

Now for the informative part of the post:

In the 1970's, computers as we know them today began forming, and with it, the value of a computer programmers skill and labour. Alongside with this, they saw a growing problem: Corporations owned everything they made, and corporations will also have the whole say about what will be present on a computer and the price of everything present on it.

This was not very appreciated by neither the programmers, and nor the customers (although few saw this growing problem coming). So in a weird twist of fate, programmers became one of the most left-wing labour-rights occupation you could find by forming Free Software Foundation, GNU, and essentially setting the stage for you to be able to use the free GIMP software instead of buying a staggering price for Adobe's Photoshop. It enabled you to download firefox instead of buying a copy of internet explorer. Because yes, before this kind of software activism formed, and the general environment of software development became to make it as freely available as possible - and having an outright despise for corporations like Novell and Microsoft for taking such huge amount of money to their own pockets instead of the developers, literally every piece of software cost money. A LOT of money.

This kind of 100% for free software usage we're used to has also led to us no longer being appreciative of the work and skill that goes behind keeping a software not only developed and updated continuously for decades, but also spending money on keeping it hosted and delivered to you for free. We even joke and scoff about the mere thought of having to pay 0.99 Euro for an app we'd use daily and a developer spent 2 years in the making. Meanwhile, when someone offers to pay someone merely 10 euro or so for a handmade blanket, there's an outrage about the value of labour and skill. And rightfully so! I support that, and so should you, even if it's labour that you weren't the one making.

And it doesn't end there either - we all know corporations has no trouble finding new ways to charge you money. Organisations like Free Software Foundation, various Linux projects and Mozilla have campaigned for a freer usage in general, leading to fair-use laws, campaigning for the right to repair your technology instead of having to buy new one all the time, as well as preventing corporations from banning every other piece of software on a computer that they don't want you to have (from a competitor or free alternative of their software).

I mentioned Adobe specifically, because in the wave of anti-AI-art outcry, artists are campaigning for a ban on making software that uses other peoples artistic similarities (not copies mind you, similarities, meaning making it a copyright infringement to have art that is similar to yours, since that's what AI-art algorithms create), and I'm sure right off the bat many of you can see the huge problem with that, but Adobe sure isn't. They're also gladly in on this, because that would mean that free alternatives of Photoshop like GIMP would also become a copyright infringement. So would a lot of our other free software we use daily and take for granted.

That's all I wanted to say about this I think. The TL;DR version is basically to value labour even if it isn't yours, and to not take it for granted. As a final part to remember about AI is that it is a tool, and like any tool it can be used for good or evil. AI is what made it possible for us to make sense of the large hadron collider data and made enormous leaps in scientific discovery in just a few years, that would otherwise had taken 500 years to sort through by humans, and with a much higher rate of error.

i've been playing SAR alot lately (cause i really want a specific cosmetic i have to complete a season pass to get) and i've been having brain worms for Saiouma playing it together.

please, allow me to brainrot for a post.

for ye who are unaware SAR (Super Animal Royale) is a top down battle royale with genetically engineered chibi furries in it called Super Animals. i don't normally like battle royales but this one is pretty nice with a good community, lore, and very rarely makes items unobtainable. its a good one for people who are looking for a chill battle royale, 10/10 would recommend

anywho saiouma playing SAR. i have so many brainworms- mostly to do with how they'd play the game, cosmetics they'd choose, and what game modes they'd prefer.

i can see Kokichi having been the one to have found the game, or was introduced to it by someone else, and then dragged Shuichi into it cause he wanted someone to share it with. he'd defiantly into the classic royale modes (solo, duos, squads), and use to really love Mystery Mode before it was removed from the mode list (there's always mummers of it coming back, but it hasn't. he misses it so)

Shuichi on the other hand prefers the extra modes (SAW vs Rebellion, Bawking Dead) over the actual Royale, mostly cause the larger teams makes it less likely for him to die instantaneously, and in both cases death doesn't mean you are out of the game. in SVR your teams respawn but have a limited respawn count pool that's connected to how many points your team has left and the first team to 0 points loses, and in BD when you die you become a chicken zombie and get to be part of the respawning hoard attacking the remaining survivors. he doesn't like the stress being against 90% of the lobby right off the bat creates, so these two modes are all he ever plays unless Kokichi begs him to join him for a round of Duos.

weapons wise it's a bit trickier cause i'm not too familiar with all the weapons stats- hell i don't know the stats for the weapons i prefer- but fear not! i can uses the wiki to scrounge up stats and strategy information.

for these i'm formatting this a bit different cause there's two gun slots, a melee, a throwable weapon, and one power-up, so i'm going to do this but listing off the choices and explanations bullet point style. i won't list the melee options cause they are purely cosmetic, they all have the exact same stats and all choices are really just skins so it's pointless to list those off

Kokichi- Main gun: Hunting Rifle. Kokichi loves to makes this game hard on himself, so why not give him a really difficult gun to use, hell even the wiki is saying this gun is for experienced users. this thing needs to be reloaded ever shot, the reload takes longer than most guns, and it slows player movement the most out of any gun in the game (it's tied with the BCG in player speed but still). HOWEVER! despite this absolute bullshit, it's great gun in his hands cause if you know how to shoot it right you can break any level of armor in one shot and do critical damage to someone who's unarmored. Secondary gun: Thomas Gun. to combat his stubborn ass difficult main gun habits, this is his favorite late game gun. it's not too easy to find so when he can't find it he settles for anything he can get his hands on- but it's his favorite automatic cause it's great at destroying armor, doesn't slow his movements, and is designed for his preferred close range combat style. it's really good for when he get into the final 10 range and needs a quicker gun to wipe out his opponents in their now insanely smaller arena that is still rapidly closing in on them, threatening to suffocate them to death if they can't kill one another fast enough Powerup: Skunk Gas Snorkel. so the arena gets smaller via a ring of green gas called Super Skunk Gas that slowly suffocates you- there are also skunk bombs that people can throw to make smaller temporary clouds of it. this items allows you to take less damage while in the gas, and Kokichi, who loves to play games the hard way, would purposefully like to play chicken with the skunk gas and uses this to keep himself just a little safer Throwable: Banana. it's literally just a banana, you can use them to slip anyone both enemy and teammate and stun them for a few seconds. he uses these exclusively on his teammates to annoy the shit out of them.

Shuichi- Main gun: AK. imma be real i'm giving him my main guns cause i genuinely feel like my play style suits him. the AK is an automatic he picked up cause it's an automatic and that means he doesn't have to spam click, but kept it cause it works well with his tunnel vision game play style. it is one of the guns that slows you down the most when holding, and isn't the best for close combat, but put him in a small corridor with people running at him and he can plow them down with it while standing still (aha, i do that) Secondary gun: SMG. this is a lighter automatic gun that's bullet spread is pretty wide, so he uses it mostly when on the move and in wide open spaces as he moves from one cubbyhole of the map to the next. they also shoot a bit faster than the AK but that means nothing to him when half the bullets miss the target by the nature of the gun's balancing. Powerup: Ninja booties. these reduce the amount of noice your character makes while moving and increases your speed just a hair, they also hide your footprints that zombies in BD can normally see and follow. they don't actually help him out too much given he doesn't know how to stealth play to save his life, but they give him a sense of comfort to some degree and that's what matters Throwable: zipline. Shuichi- like most SAR players- cannot resist the sweet lure of a zipline to be mindlessly played on for way too long in the middle of a match, so why not be the one to deploy them and trigger the collective braincell? besides, he forgets he has the other throwables when they're needed in combat

okay, now i got that done, i know i made a post once where i assigned the V3 cast super animal skins, but that was based on which i think they'd be as characters, not as actual preferred skins. so now i present to you what i think Saiouma's main three skin choices would be

Kokichi- -his is pretty difficult for me to pick with cause there's a good few i think he'd really love. but my faves for him are the Alebrije variants of various animals due to how neon they are. there's six of them but the one i think he'd like the most is the tiger variant -for something less eyestrain tho, i also thin he'd like the pig on the principle of i hc that's his fave animal. i picked the Lunar Pig cause it's red and i also hc that's his fave color. he literally would use this just because it's two fave things in one -he'd also really like the dragons because dragons are fucking sick as hell, any skin would do but i think he'd get the Ice Wyvern first just because it's the hardest to get

Shuichi- -similar to why i picked the lunar pig, Shuichi's main is the Yellow Bearded Dragon because i hc he likes yellow and reptiles. his favorite Reptile is snakes, but there's no snakes in SAR so he went with the cutest reptile option they had instead - i cannot be convinced Shuichi didn't see the Tibetan Fox, wheeze laugh at it's stupid face for far too long, then decide to get him simply for his own amusement -the Goth Possum is his second favorite skin in the whole game honestly, he likes how it looks like it has eyebags, and it's gothic

How do you get the retro/vhs effects on your art?

I actually made a tutorial on that here! But honestly at the end of the day it’s a lot of “I plug this picture into several different apps and video editing software.” I wish I could give you a simple answer, but there is no easy way to do it that’s the same every time. I rarely if ever do it the same way back to back. Some colors look better when edited in Photoshop, some in Photomosh Pro. I pay almost $100 a month to have access to all of the software I use to make these effects because it’s part of my job. But luckily you can find so many free tutorials and apps out there, you just need to be curious and try new things!

What do you use to draw?

Another vague answer whoo! Sorry, but I use so many things to draw! But usually it’s sketch/ink/color/shade in Paint Tool Sai, and then move it to Photoshop to add the background, effects and details. I also use Procreate and Clip Studio from time to time. When it comes to traditional, it’s usually standard cardstock or a mixed media sketchbook. Then I draw and color with microns, copic pens, jelly rollers/gel pens, prisma colored markers and copic markers. 

Did you draw the backgrounds in your art? And if you use screenshots, where do you get them?

In the majority of my pictures, I use screenshots from old cartoons. I get these screenshots from the shows themselves. My friend is kind enough to set up a program that takes snapshots hundreds of times during the show. Then when the episode is over, they send them to me. I then spend HOURS, going through thousands of images and delete all but the good pieces. A majority of the time they take a lot of editing to be usable. I have to clean them up, remove character and scale the images.

This isn’t always the case however! I do often draw my own backgrounds! If you ever want to know, feel free to ask!

As for the more aesthetic/abstract backgrounds, I make those myself! I spent far too much money buying licenses and rights to use tons of different patterns and vectors. With those, I love recreating authentic backgrounds in the style of those seen in the 80s and 90s!

I see you draw a lot of Transformation/Chubby/(insert common movie trope here). Are you a fetish artist?

No, I am not a fetish artist. Do I draw art that might be someone’s fetish? Do I take commissions from people with a fetish for this subject matter? Yes, of course. But people need to realize, furry characters alone are a kink to some people. For me the difference is in how it’s drawn. And I personally do not draw my art in a way that sexualizes the piece.

I love drawing transformation scenes, people being swallowed by a monster, extra big tummies, but not because it’s something that I find hot. I just like drawing fun scenes. I get bored of just drawing a character standing in place all the time. I like drawing wacky scenes! 

A lot of my love for these come from cartoons. Edmund getting turned into a cat in Rock a Doodle. Hercules getting swallowed by the hydra. Kaa hypnotizing... everyone xD It’s just a story telling tool and sometimes it’s fun to draw! I’m not into hypno but I do like drawing big, colorful eyes. I’m just whatever about tf but I love drawing the swirling magic effects and the character changing from human to animal. It’s just cool to me!

In short, when I draw these things, it’s like I get to draw scenes from cartoons and movies in my style. It’s so wonderful to attempt to emulate some of the effects and details they used in movies from my childhood. It’s not about the hand changing into a paw for me, it’s the magical sparkles and how it’s so bright and vibrant compared to everything else. Where you see it go from hand to paw, that’s what I love drawing about tf art! Or being able to exaggerate the body and make a character look weighty by making them really round. Getting to draw a comically big mouth, giving a fun and interesting perspective shot. I think that stuff is so neat! Because it’s art!

I don’t care if it is someone’s fetish. I’m not drawing it in a way that’s sexual. Heck, it even says I wont in my TOS! Everything is G-PG here in Sunday’s Playzone! I’m not here to make that kind of content. It’s okay if adults have fetishes, and so long as you and others aren’t sexualizing my art, all is well!

So I’m having another… let’s call it an internet crisis. A thing that typically happens when I have Big Problems I can’t do fuck all about which means now it’s time to get Really Upset about problems that are comparatively small but do affect my daily routine (sorry again for no cut, I still can’t remember how to do it on mobile and I fucking hate hate hate the desktop post editor as much as someone can hate a piece of code)

It’s… getting harder to use tumblr. This isn’t about the sidebar, I don’t actually hate the sidebar cause we used to have a sidebar on the other side and I’ve missed it every since it left, but it’s about other things. A lot of things, but I won’t get into them all right now. For me, the new post editor is just. Really fucking difficult to use. If you’re just doing an unformatted, unplanned ramble (like this) or a little shitpost, it’s fine, especially if you’re on mobile (somehow the shitty mobile editor is now less shitty than the desktop editor, how tf did that happen), but if you’ve got multiple paragraphs and literally any formatting is needed? Well, you’re fucked, quite frankly, it is the most dense and convoluted post editor I’ve seen in like roughly 2 decades spent online. I’ve never seen anything more counterintuitive and difficult to use

And I’m sitting here with all these twitter posts I want to move. Some are little and would be easy. Others are a lot longer and more complicated and would shove me into that formatting hell I despise so much (and given how much feedback and unanswered asks to wip I’ve sent with no improvements, I’ve given up hope of it ever being made better). Like god I really, really want to save those posts but is it even worth it to do it here? But where else would I do it?

And the secondary layer too is… there’s no fucking posts here. No engagement on posts either most of the time. 90% of my posts come from my archive cause the kylux and Kylo (plus a few others I check less regularly) tags have very few daily posts and there’s hardly anything on my dash anymore. I really like the way you’ve set up your commission sheet- it looks like you’ve had a bit of experience with making them, and I was wondering if I could ask if you had any tips for artists just starting out on selling comms?

I’m an artist thinking of selling commissions because I’m broke and need to make some $$ for food and living expenses lol. (this is my reblog acct so I don’t have much moved here rn unfortunately.)

I have no idea where to look for advice and Google hasn’t really been the best help as a lot of resources I’ve seen are mostly pros/people in the later stages of making an entire career out of it (which, for my situation right now isn’t exactly what I’m looking for)…

I also don’t really know much about payment methods like Patreon or anything like that so I don’t really know which is best or which to start with.

Any info you could provide would be very appreciated, even if it’s only a little!

Hello! I will try my best to help from my experience and what I heard it works. 1. It all depends on your needs, but you need to be organized. It doesn't matter if you use a notebook, your phone, an excel sheet or whatever: It's important to keep on track who requested a commission, who had paid you and the order you need to follow. Even if this list is only to yourself.

2. This is a universal thing: Make a work email and use it as a contact for customers, paypal and other things in case you don't want to get mixed with personal stuff.

3. I highly recommend using a Google Form or simmilar to receive request of commissions (you can use mine as reference or look on other artists who use it). It will also helps you to put on order the order of commissions and you will spend less time asking the customer a bunch of questions or explaining innecesary stuff. (Ko-Fi also have the tool for commission!).

4. I only use Ko-Fi (for now). I had used it on commissions. It's useful if your method is simple. Allow you to put add ons with its respective price too!

5. It's hard to make a portfolio, but at least make one example of each type of commission you are doing. People gotta see what they are buying.

6. You make the rules. You can see in my cardd I have the Terms of Service where you explain what you do and don't, how long you take to finish a comm, etc.

7. Be as clear and direct as possible. Don't accept commissions you are uncomfortable with. Don't allow people guilt-trip you or start asking to lower your prices.

8. About pricing: Look up people with simmilar skill level and art style as you to make an idea of pricing. You can start with one price and rise it as your skills improve! Set a price you can be satisfied with, or you will feel downhearted.

9. I highly recommed being paid first before start drawing. Be careful of scams too! Never trust a paypal email that isn't official (I say this cus someone tried to scam me last week).

10. I would recommed choosing a few niches of your interest and work on your public from there. It can be an specific fandom, a genre, an animal, a topic... Stuff people can know your work and be sure you are good at it. Example: I draw g/t stuff, so people into it know how I do it and what to expect from me. You will not ask the furry artist to draw you '90 mecha robots right? (THIS MAY OR NOT WORK! draw whatever you want and make you happy. Follow your heart and people will slowy get at your work).

That's it! Uh I'm not an expert, I'm still not big enough to live full from commissions but don't give up! Can be rough at first but keep working!

i dont think this is silly at all, but im not sure if im the best person to ask since 90% of this blog is my own fursona art 💀but i can share a few ideas!

if you want to make a fursona and/or share concept art of your sona without having to actually draw, you could try checking out piccrew and seeing if there are any you like! theyre similar to ye old character makers from deviantart before flash died - most of them are humans but theres a few really nice furry ones

speaking of deviantart - you can also just go onto various websites (including tumblr, but also DA, pinterest, honestly even google) and search "free to use / f2u character base" , many of these bases are compatible with really simple art programs like ms paint -- it would basically be like using a coloring book to fill out the details of your own sona :) just make sure you credit/link back to the maker of the base if you do post it online!

if youre a writer -- or even just like talking about your sonas/ocs lore -- you can post about that!

if you have money, you can commission artists for art of your sona and reblog (or repost - with credit) onto your blog to keep a collection of art!

one of my favorite ways to recreate ocs is on ponytown ! even if you dont care much for mlp, or dont want to play the game itself, you could still use the character creator to make really cool mockups of your ocs/sonas (there are options for dogs/cats/dragons/etc, not just ponies!) -- theres options to export the images straight off of PT into pngs and even gifs!

most people dont talk about this much anymore, but honestly, you can roleplay. i feel like rp fell out of the general furry fandom because its seen as "cringy", but thats bs - as long as everyone involved is a willing participant and having fun, then go crazy! you can rp on your blog, make "muse" posts (i dont know how to explain this very well - look up "rp muse" on here for some examples) etc to help develop your sona/ocs more!

EDIT TO ADD: i somehow completely forgot furry memes exist. u can absolutely just reblog a ton of memes to get into the vibe of your fursona. something i like to do on my personal blog is tag specific memes with the names of my ocs (or my friends ocs) to get a vibe for that character specifically :)

ETA: similar to the above, you can also just make pinterest moodboards for your characters and post those here as well!

I've been thinking a lot lately about therian/furry stuff. (Yes, I know they're not the same thing, but I don't think this personal discovery post is a relevant place to go into that discussion.)

I've never considered myself a furry, but it was because I always felt indifferent towards the culture. Never was one of those "ugh furry yuck" (at least not sincerely, I did play pretend a bit during my edgy teen phase. Everybody makes mistakes.) But I now realize it's because I was never into the animal *aesthetics*; turns out, I do love the whole animal identity bit.

Of course, this is deeply tied to my autism. I was late diagnosed, but even before diagnose, I was in love with the concept of "bird flirting" (I do that!), and I was in love with crows: they're the nerds of the sky and nobody can tell me otherwise. Indeed, I saw myself much more in crows than in people. I have been using crows in general and Murkrow in particular as my face for private accounts for a long time, because it just felt right.

Lately I have rediscovered diving. I have always loved diving, in fact, but interestingly, I also have always had difficulty *going* to any body of water, like the beach or the pool (and it's not because of extraneous things, like crowds, since I'm like that even if it's a private pool and/or I know I will be alone), but once you get me into the water, then the hard part is getting me out of it.

SoI have spent many long stretches of life not doing any diving. But some turns of life got me to sign up for a scuba diving course, and let me tell you, that experience was AMAZING for me. I'm also extremely short-sighted, so without my glasses I can't see shit underwater, which means 90% of my enjoyment was purely the feeling of being underwater. And the feeling of getting out of the water back into "landlobber existence" was equally excruciating.

So what am I, then? What is like crows, but lives underwater? Am I an octopus? Or am I like a diving bird, instead?

(this post has no conclusion, it just exists in case any part of my mental process is useful to anybody else or prompts them a new avenue of introversion)

i think of like the cyan lizards from rain world which can do many small jumps with a burst of gas that propels them forward, but never in any place is it mentioned what that gas is or how they store/use it. or the vultures for that matter too who are incredibly heavy yet somehow float about in the air like they are made of cotton. and it doesnt need to, its a game! theyre fun cool little guys! the most you need to know is 'this thing can and will kill you, and will do so with these special jumps'. thats it. and thats enough.

talking abt anatomy again, im sure we can agree that it'd allow for much more control if we could rotate all our limbs in practically every direction instead of being limited by the bone joints, right? but then you want to keep the familiar look - in my case, an anthro/furry animal - and then i just. make them bend their arms in an opposite 90 degrees like this <0|_. that would look horrifying and unnatural because.. well.. thats not whats normal to us! or for the muscle and bone strcuture either, it just isnt possible! and so the jaws of familiarity grip an idea once again. its no use!!! aeeeughhH!!!
