Anyways how are you? I don’t have any plans for this weekend and I’m a little bored ngl- Also, maybe this is too much out of the blue but, have you ever had doubts about any of your fics? Because I always write fics for myself, for my own enjoyment and for what I want to read but I have a feeling my new fic is gonna be so niche to the point that no one will read it? And I usually don’t care that much about the views and the kudos but I’m putting so much effort on it and I’m a little bummed out 🙁 idk

Ohh thank you! I think mine is a little sloppy but everybody seems to like it whdbwbbd you should definitely do it after you’re revealed! I’m tagging you now! Lol. I’m doing alright! Got to see some people from my work today that i haven’t seen pretty much since i quit which was so nice. Big serotonin boost. I miss them all so much and i can’t wait for the vaccine to be more available so i can actually hang out with them again soon.

I always have doubts about my fics. Which could be due to my anxiety and constant overthinking and low self confidence. But! I definitely understand where you’re coming from. I never write and post for the views/kudos/comments, but i always have doubts and insecurities about certain things in my fics. But! There are a lot of fics that are very niche, ex. the formula 1 fic i rec’d, it’s got hella views but i mean. Formula 1 racing/racing in general isn’t a popular trope. I’ve only read the 1 fic. There are many fics that are pretty niche and people still read and love them! I know that i would definitely feel the same if i were in your position, i’d be scared people wouldn’t want to read. But i think it’s still worth sharing because you never know who will read and absolutely love your work. And it will be worth sharing<3

Ohh no these probably aren’t my actual fav favs but they’re My Bops and i’d rather never listen to music again than skip these 😭 okay so in order of release: up all night, moments, magic, irresistible, don’t forget where you belong, something great, fireproof, clouds, home (!!), what a feeling, walking in the wind, a.m. Favorite album is Four i suppose. (I’m bad at choosing “favs” because that feels like it’s finalized and my favs can be fluid). But! After years and years of getting over my crippling fear of finality, i’ve decided that Home is my Favorite ! 1000000/10 for sure lol.

I feel like loving Moments is an unpopular opinion. I’ve only ever known one other person who loves it as much as i do. Most other ppl in the fandom hate it for some reason which makes me sad. Another one is story of my life. Listen, i LOVE that song and will sing along to it until my lungs give out. But idk i don’t understand why it’s their most streamed stong? (Edit: i looked on spotify and realized that drag me down has more streams which i absolutely LOVE seeing at least one song from made in the am in their top 5 but that still doesn’t explain why soml got so much more global/non-fandom hype than bse). And why it’s been their most popular song after wmyb. 🤷‍♀️ it’s a bop but i don’t get the global hype. Okay and one more, i do tend to skip another world a lot. Like i can vibe with it but. Eh 🤭

Sam stood still in the middle of his bedroom. The heat of the room seemed to increase with every moment passing by, correlating with the tension rising.

The woman in front of him was silent, yet the tears falling down her cheeks were betraying the secret of her emotions. She seemed to be foraging for words as her eyes stayed focused on the corner of the bedsheet.

“What was it?” Her broken voice filled the room.

Sam cleared his throat, “What was what?”

She paused for a moment. She kept her body still; her left arm remained slung across her body as her right hand held loosely onto her right cheek. Some hair fell from her untidy updo and framed her face as she began speaking.

“Whatever it was that made you choose her. There must’ve been something, right?”

Sam’s eyes flitted immediately to her face, shocked at the insecurity of the usually confident woman in front of him.

“Hey, hey. There was nothing, Y/N. Please believe me. You have to.” He crossed the room quickly and reached down to hold onto her arms, attempting to make her meet his gaze.

“Nothing?” Y/N’s face had filled with anger as she finally brought her focus up to his face, “How could it have been nothing? You chose her.”

“Sweetheart, please listen. Eileen-“

“Don’t say her name.” His once beloved kept her gaze locked onto his as she ripped her arms out of his grasp.

Sam’s expression turned crestfallen as he shifted slightly, “It’s complicated.”

“It’s complicated?” Y/N scoffed in disbelief, evidently irate. “I gave you 5 years of my life and she walked in two months ago. It was clearly an easy decision for you.”

Instead of answering, Sam looked to the floor, dismissing the topic entirely. Y/N noted the classic Winchester tactic.

“I hate seeing us like this. Seeing us broken up.”

Without permission, the flood of tears welled in Y/N’s eyes again as she choked on air, struggling to keep her composure with every fleeting minute. This wasn’t the Sam she had fallen in love with. She realised the man standing in front of her was a stranger.

“You did this to us, Sam. To me.” She could see him receding back into himself, unable to face the truth of his transgressions.

She continued, “Do you know how hard it is to watch it? To watch her wearing your shirts, walking around the bunker like she owns it? To see her sit in your lap as you read in the library? She took everything from me. And you let her.”

The look that Sam directed her way almost sent shockwaves through her body, but it only served as purpose for her anger to rise.

“What? Can’t handle the truth, Sammy? I know you think I have no reason to hate her cause she’s done ‘nothing’ wrong but, fuck, do I wish she were dead.” Y/N knew her words were harsh, however she had no intention of taking them back.

It was Sam’s turn to scoff. His hand reached to the slight scruff growing on his face, rubbing it in exhaustion. His steps fell heavy on the hardwood floor as he turned to take a seat on the end of the bed.

The two remained in uncomfortable silence for what felt like a lifetime. It was a strange feeling for her, to stand in unbreakable tension with the one man she had trusted everything with. She had never failed to speak her mind around him, yet here she stood speechless.

“I’m gonna ask you a question.” The sudden statement gained Sam’s attention, “You’re gonna answer me honestly.”

“Okay.” It was all he could say.

“Did you, um,” Y/N swallowed thickly, “Did you ever see her when we were still together?”

A beat.

“Don’t make me answer that.”

Y/N’s heart fell to the bottom of her stomach. The lunch that Dean had forced her to eat earlier threatened to rise to the top of her throat as she clenched her eyes shut and raised her hand to her mouth, breaking into silent sobs.

He let her cry in front of him as tears of his own spilled down his face, yet his expression remained as stoic as it could. The heaving from her chest grew louder and louder and Sam was sure it could be heard through the whole bunker.

Y/N hiccuped slightly and spoke as coherently as possible through her broken sobs, “You know, you were the first guy I ever met that didn’t turn on the charm for everybody else. I had so much pride knowing that only I got to see that side of you.”

“Things change, the night changes. I guess we lost it.” Sam didn’t even recognise the words coming out of his own mouth. Despite being the truth, he could never have imagined speaking to Y/N this way. He couldn’t seem to stop.

“Lost what, the spark? I’m sorry I didn’t manage to give you the honeymoon phase for half of a decade, Sam.” She rubbed at her stinging eyes.

“I love her.”

“No you don’t.”

He looked at her for the first time in 15 minutes as he gaped like a fish out of water, unable to process what he heard.

“It’s not real. I know your love isn’t real.” She seemed to drain with every sentence she spoke, “Maybe I should go out there and warn her. I’m never gonna be her friend but nobody deserves to be treated like shit by you again.”

“How can you say that? I loved you.” Sam seemed to be at his breaking point; his hair stuck in wild directions from where he had been pulling it in stress, his eyes were bloodshot and wide, and his clothes were a mess.

Y/N had become quiet and she sunk into the desk chair to the right of her old bed. She was whispering now, only releasing crackles of her voice.

“Did you, Sam? You know, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m reckless. I’m not stupid.” She ran both her hands up her cheeks and into her hair, “God, I can’t believe I let you use me for so long.”

“I never meant to hurt you.”

“But you did.” Y/N stood again, not sure of how to conduct any of her movements. She was on edge and uneasy, a stark difference to the comfortability she usually found in Sam.

“I’m standing here with you just trying to be honest. Why can’t you do the same?” She thought he at least owed her that much.

“I am! I don’t love you anymore.” Sam’s voice raised significantly higher as he now towered above her, shaking in exasperation. He noticed that she flinched when his tall frame rose and involuntarily took a large step back.

“I know, I know.” Y/N hugged her own body, exhaling harshly through her mouth, “But... I still love you. So please, just lie to me. Tell me you want me. Say it one more time.”

“I can’t.”

She already knew he couldn’t say it. She already knew that when they left this room, she was going to pack up and leave. It would break her heart, and would definitely break Dean and Cas’ too, but Y/N knew that she couldn’t handle 5 more minutes of Eileen draping herself across her ex-boyfriend.

It was a sad reality; sad that her life had come to this, sad that she had to leave it all behind, and even sadder that Sam wouldn’t miss her at all.

“It’ll be alright.” Sam mumbled.

Y/N’s eyes narrowed at him and she turned her body fully to reach the door handle. She glanced back over her shoulder and took one last look at him. She scanned up and down, remembering the nights she spent tracing every inch of his body, washing away his insecurities.

Looking into his eyes, she took a breath.

“Goodbye, Sam.”

ooh I’m so happy thank you!! okay so, beware cause this is gonna be long af! tbh I don’t really listen to any artists that are very popular at the moment, at least I don’t think so, but I’m not entirely sure who counts as very popular, but the likes of Selena Gomez/Taylor Swift/ Ariana grande and all that type of music isn’t the music I really enjoy listening to, I do like a few of Billie eilish’s songs tho, she has such a beautiful voice! other artists I really love are Hozier, girl in red, Lewis capaldi, Troye Sivan and some others that are quite the classics like Queen (my all time favorite that’s for sure), Muse and ABBA, as for lesser known artists, I have quite a few tbh, first off is Wrabel (his song called the village fucking came for me first time I heard it ngl....), the script, selah sue, kodaline, Faouzia! I also have a couple of French singers I listen to, like Angèle or Pomme, both have a very soothing voice!! and yeah all around, I just really like music that’s more on the chill side, but put me some queen or ABBA and I’ll just lose it, esp Queen agjdsg

you would definitely have grown up a pogue. you would’ve gone to middle school with john b and jj back in the day, and the three of you would be a trio that nobody really saw coming. you’d be that one girl in fifth grade that everyone just thought was quiet and liked to keep to herself because you never really went out of your way to make close friends. your not being a part of a clique would be what brought you and the boys together. one day, some group of girls would take their usual table that they ate lunch at, so they’d wander over to the one you were sitting alone at, dropping their trays down with awkward smiles and even more uncomfortable body language. you’d smile back at them, not giving them much attention as you went back to the homework you’d been doing. when you made it clear that you weren’t going to bother them even if they were at your table, the boys relaxed and continued their conversation. the situation at hand would definitely include jj being pissed off and wanting to fight someone, along with john b trying to calm his friend down so he doesn’t get in trouble again. soon enough, you’d finished up all of your homework, shoved all your books back into your bag, and started eating doritos out of the bag while blatantly listening to the conversation going on before you. things seemed to be coming to a head, and the low voices between the two were getting louder and louder. eventually, jj would yell something like “shut the hell up, john b!” and earn himself a very dirty look from the teacher currently on lunch duty as well as a whack on the head from john b. rolling his eyes, jj appeared to be deep in thought as his eyes started scanning the room quickly. suddenly, his head was snapping to you, and your eyes widened when you were addressed. “what do you think?” stammering a bit, you glanced nervously between jj and john b. “wha-- what do i think about what?” jj sighed, turning in his seat to fully face you. “c’mon, you have to know what’s going on, don’t you?” john b would nudge jj then, giving him a face that told him to take it easy on you. “what? you think just ‘cause she’s quiet, she’s deaf too? i just wanna hear an outside opinion, john b.” surprised at jj’s (correct) assumption about you noticing the things that happened around you, you coughed. “um, i actually have heard,” you interjected, pulling a cocky smile out of jj. “told you, bro.” “but, no, i don’t think you should fight anyone, if that’s the question.” john b’s turn. he scoffed, looking jj in the eye. “told you, bro.”

after that one interaction, john b and jj basically took you under their wings. it was never a big deal. you just started hanging out with them-- when you were waiting for your ride home, they’d stand outside the school with you until your mom pulled up, only walking back to The Chateau when they knew you were good. they’d meet you at your lunch table every day after the first time, a tradition that would continue on through high school. they’d stand next to your locker, bickering over what the plans for after school were, while you swapped out books and laughed at their arguing. when pope and kie came into the picture, your two boys forced you to stay out of your shell, to let the new pogues get to know you like they did. before you could stop and realize it, john b and jj and kie and pope would come to know everything about you, and you them. and even though you knew all of them so well, there would sometimes be things that they kept from you-- including john b and jj. you’d catch the two of them whispering during keggers, or staring at you from across the room as you stood chatting with kie. after a few months of this sneaky behavior, you convinced yourself that one of them was into kie. you had the idea so deeply engraved in your mind that, soon enough, no other explanation seemed possible to you. that’s what you told pope one night at john b’s, when he’d come out to the hammocks, where you’d been swaying alone, to ask what the problem was. figuring it couldn’t hurt to talk things out with pope, you told him the truth. the day after you confessed to pope that you ‘knew jb had it bad for kie’ and he deciphered that you had feelings for john b, things got weird. you’d call jj that morning to see if he knew what the plan for the day was, and all he was able to do was stammer and stutter through your conversation. when you called pope to see if he’d need a ride to The Chateau, it was the same thing. so instead of trying with john b or kie, you simply made your way to the house. 

when you pulled up to The Chateau, parking in your usual spot next to the van, confusion flooded your body. jj’s bike was nowhere to be found, and neither was kie’s car, which was supposed to have brought her and pope there. you made your way into the house, finding john b putting beers into a cooler. “um, hello there? is there a reason our friends are not here like i was told they were?” john b would smile quickly at you, picking up the cooler and nonchalantly grabbing your hand to pull you along with him as he walked out of the house. “just us today.” your eyebrows would raise at that, not seeing why your friends had lied about the day’s plans so you could be alone with john b. “what do you mean, just us?” john b ignored you completely, quickly moving in and out of the hms pogue a few times as he packed it with the day’s supplies. “john booker,” you’d call tightly, getting his attention right away. he’d look up at you, still bent over from putting down the cooler on the boat, eyes wide. he knew that tone. “don’t yell at me. please.” you’d slit your eyes, arms crossed as you waited for an explanation. john b would sigh, stepping out of the boat and pacing in front of you a few times with his hands rubbing repeatedly over his face, clearly thinking about how to begin as you watched. “are you okay?” he stopped at that, staring at the ground as he replayed your words in his head. “john b. are you okay?” he’d turn to you, expression like a deer in headlights. “i’m in love with you.” you’d squint suspiciously at him again, arms falling to your side. “don’t-- don’t fucking look at me like that! i just said something very, very chillingly groundbreaking, okay? so don’t give me that look. i’m panicking, okay? you think i like this feeling right now?” you couldn’t help but laugh at that point, taking a step toward him and putting your hands on his shoulders. “john b, i can’t believe this is finally it. i mean, i knew you were gonna crack eventually, but... today? you’re choosing today, to have your psychotic break?” he’d shake his head, trying to cut you off but not getting the chance as you continued. “seriously! i just wanted to relax for five minutes. but i guess we can go back inside and handle your unstable mental state. no problem--” all of a sudden, john b’s hands had found their way onto your face, palms pressing against your cheeks as he pulled your face into his. he was kissing you. john b routledge. he was kissing you. when john b pulled back after a few moments, you were essentially stunned into silence. “hi. hi, it’s me. john b? remember?” john b was waving his hand in front of your face nervously, and you caught him by the wrist, stammering over a few words before he spoke again. “okay, sooo words seem to be kinda hard right now. that’s fine,” he’d chuckle, moving his hands to rest on your shoulders as he hunched down a little to get to your eye-level. “do you wanna get on the boat with me right now, or was that not okay, that i just did that?” you shook your head, trying to clear some of the love fuzz out of it. john b, misunderstanding your response, dropped his hands from your shoulders and took a step back, panic resurfacing in his body. “hey,” you’d call to him offendedly. “what are you doing?” “what am i doing? what are you doing?” you’d laugh then, slipping your arms around john b’s waist and hugging him when you closed the distance again. “so, that was actually okay?” “yes, idiot. that was perfectly okay.” john b wrapped his arms around your back, smiling and releasing the breath he’d been holding in. “cool. cool. so, we getting on the boat or what?”

‘Fine Line’ - Harry Styles REVIEW: Finding His Balance

“When I played it for the label, I told them, ‘This is the first single. It’s two minutes, thirty-five. You’re welcome,’” Harry Styles recalls when discussing “Lights Up” in a track-by-track breakdown of his second solo studio effort, Fine Line, with Rolling Stone writer Rob Sheffield. Thank you, indeed. “Lights Up” was an excellent first single choice for a number of reasons, now all the more clear in the context of the album. Though oddly structured and not particularly radio-friendly, it’s interesting, catchy, short and to the point: as much as you try to hide who you are, once the lights are up, those watching will know, so you might as well shine; but do you know?

Just as importantly, does Harry? Fine Line is a vague exploration of the self, both personally and musically, filled with cryptic platitudes and slick guitar riffs. However, the one aspect of himself Styles seems to be most acquainted with, and thus most comfortable sharing, is the “dark running through” his heart that cannot be extinguished by all the lights; in fact, it is amplified. Perhaps Styles finds it difficult to be honest in his relationships, but Fine Line is sprinkled with dark confessions, most notably in a series in the middle of the album (immediately following “Lights Up”): “I can tell that you are at your best / I’m selfish so I’m hating it” in “Cherry,” a track of spewing bitter jealousy; “There’s no one to blame but the drink and my wandering hands” in “Falling,” a heart-wrenching ballad for the books; “I’m just an arrogant son of a bitch / who can’t admit when he’s sorry,” in the pleasant-sounding yet morose ditty “To Be So Lonely.”

Those confessionals are the strongest demonstrations of Styles’s songwriting potential, and are the meat and bones of Fine Line’s takeaway: losing someone you once loved can cause you to almost lose yourself. Hopefully, you find yourself along the road to healing; but Styles often leaves the listener wondering if he really does know who he is now or not. What we do know is two things: 1) The end of his last relationship caused a lot of pain and introspection and 2) The man likes to have sex. Understandable points. Good equation for a successful album.

BEST TRACK: “Fine Line”

The title track and closer, “Fine Line” immediately invokes emotion as soon as it begins, and it only intensifies throughout its six-minute and eighteen-second duration. As the song moves along, new elements are subtly and meticulously added, layered in with his low and almost careful singing in a way that sounds like nature. Around four minutes in, the song really starts to come alive, the instrumentation building and building towards an outro that reaches a crescendo at Styles’s final “we’ll be alright,” and then perfectly finishes with high-pitch vocal notes that feel like freedom before it drifts out with a few light piano notes. While its message about maintaining balance on the fine line between the extremes of love resonates, the real victory of this song is its ability to move you with just the music. Despite its length, it always feels like it ends too soon.

WEAKEST TRACK: “Golden”

While a pleasant-sounding opener and a good tone-setter for the rest of the record sonically, “Golden” could have been cut in half, with about twenty fewer repetitions of the title, and used as more of brief introduction or interlude instead. In contrast to the closer, “Fine Line,” which is the longest song on the album and includes just as much- if not more- repetitions of its title, it serves a purpose in that song, whereas in “Golden” it feels like filler. This monotonous track is the most prominent example of how often Styles’s lyrics seem to be lacking; he surely has the ability to improve, he just needs to access it.

THE IN-BETWEENS

Luckily for Styles, the production on this album is so outrageously good that it’s enough to keep you interested throughout. “She,” a six-minute psychedelic rock song is an epic trip (I mean, Styles’s guitarist, Mitch Rowland, wrote it on mushrooms, go figure) into a daydream with the perfect woman who doesn’t exist. “Canyon Moon” is a road-trip-ready, light, feel-good song where his musical influences are rather apparent; Styles cites Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills, and Nash as his muses, and another idol of his, Steve Nicks, claims it to be her favorite track on the record, a lovely feat. The pre-released singles “Lights Up,” “Watermelon Sugar,” and “Adore You” are sincerely all pop perfection, more mature and refined from his 1D days. The most experimental track, “Treat People With Kindness,” is interesting but falls short for a song that feels like years in the making, considering it has been a phrase Styles and his fans have claimed for the past few years. Although it is clear that Styles’s intention with the song was to spread a positive message which focuses on being kind and not taking life too seriously (though he proclaims that “if our friends all pass away / it’s okay,” and…I don’t know, is it really okay, Harry?!?) it feels like he could have done more with it. One particularly good line is towards the end of the track when he sings, “all we ever want is automatic all the time,” and perhaps he could’ve taken his own advice and given a song with such a grand title a bit more effort.

BEST PROSPECTIVE SINGLE: “Falling”

A close second to “Fine Line,” “Falling” is one of the strongest in Styles’s solo discography and more impressive considering he wrote it in about twenty minutes in a towel. In this beautiful ballad, Styles opens his heart, grabbing the listener’s in the process. “What am I now? / What if I’m someone I don’t want around?” he sings in a panic. This moment of self-reflection after the end of a relationship truly settles in as reality and you can no longer look away from your mistakes is painfully relatable. This track is the most honest of the bunch, and thus feels necessary. With all the previously mentioned pop jams already aptly released as singles, “Falling” feels like the wisest choice going forward to keep the momentum; listeners love a man openly grieving a heartbreak and taking responsibility for his actions (even cheating, I suppose, as is mildly implied in the first verse…I mean, this is your mans? Good thing his regret sounds sincere at least), and the unbelievable tone of his voice when he belts the last word of the bridge, “and I get the feeling that you’ll never need me again” is just the icing on the cake.

It is always a difficult task for a former group member to come into their own as a solo artist, and very few have done so with the admiration and reverence that Styles has accrued thus far. With his self-titled debut solo record in 2017, Styles made it clear, as most group-departing members do, that he had a sound different from that of his claim to fame in One Direction. His seriousness as a musician was now established through the positive reception of his debut, and thus his success allowed him to have a little more fun on Fine Line. It also allowed him to get a little more candid and authentic, knowing that the world has accepted him with open arms and has been begging for more. Styles mostly delivers with Fine Line, but in some ways it feels unfinished. The musical production is intriguing and exciting, and by far the best thing about this album, but is still somewhere between a regeneration of classic inspirations and a sound unique to Styles himself; all he needs is a little more time to find his own signature style (no pun intended) rather than just creating a conglomerate of musical elements from his influences and signing his name. But in the meantime, the music still holds up. The real conundrum is the lyrics, which are well and fine, but do not effectively communicate the truth hiding behind the sentiments yet give you just enough to let him get away with it. If he had given us just a bit more, Fine Line could have been a true triumph. However, this is only his second album, and being a confessional songwriting superstar while still preserving your right to privacy is, well, a fine line to walk (I had to, I’m sorry!), but I’m sure he’ll find his balance in no time. Grade: 3.5/5

DISCLAIMER – REVIEWER’S BIAS: I was a very casual One Direction fan during their peak of fame. I think Midnight Memories is a great pop album and I stand by that. I’ve always been more of a Niall girl, but I have never been able to completely resist Harry’s charisma; I’m only human. I listened to his debut album in 2017 maybe twice, three times at most, and just thought it was fine, but not particularly impressive. But since then it’s been impossible to deny his talent and star power. I was very intrigued by “Lights Up,” and with every single release I had found myself enjoying the songs more than I wanted to admit. I think Fine Line is a really great album. Sonically, it is in my exact sweet spot of the kind of music I absolutely love, so I was doomed to like it from the start. What stopped me from giving it a grade of 4 or higher though was that even with multiple listens I struggle to understand what the hell this guy is trying to say in his music. Many times, it takes me reading what die-hard stans say to understand what message he’s trying to send. Unfortunately, that is a failure to me. I know plenty of people love cryptic and ambiguous lyrics or poetry, but as a consumer, I want to be able to understand the story or the message with at least a couple of listens. Of course, lyrics can and should be left up to interpretation, but sometimes I don’t even know what he wants me to interpret! From my perception, this is just a reflection of Harry holding back from truly saying what he wants (with few exceptions, such as “Falling”). I think he is so talented and has so much potential but just needs a little more time unlocking it. I’m excited to see what he does in the future.

What’s your fave thing about writing ur current wip?

so I have a few WIPs I’m working on at the moment. I have the summerexchange I’m pinchhitting for, and what I love about that is that I didn’t really feel up to writing very much lately, but I forced myself to take on this challenge, and I am actually massively enjoying the plot. The prompts were right up my alley and with the help from @lt2019 and Emmi I feel like I’ve got a really cute plot going!

As for the collab, I am just dead excited to work with @thedaggerrose and challenge myself, as I’ve never written with anyone before!

For my balloon fic I am just happy to write Ziam again

And finally, for my Steady Love WIP, my favorite thing is going back to my roots, which is angst! This fic is probably maybe definitely going to break hearts.

Have you got a name yet / what’s your process for finding one?

The summerexchange one has a title that I can’t reveal but that I absolutely love, because it fits so well. The collab has a work title that I really adore as well but that me and Caroline will share a bit closer to when we are ready to post it! It’s still in the super beginning stages so it’ll be a while.

The balloon fic is called ‘eyes up on the prize’ which is from one of Liam’s songs.

The Steady Love fic is called ‘there now, steady love, so few come and don’t go’ which I’m pretty sure is also from a song, which segues nicely into how I find titles for my fics. They’re pretty much all song lyrics all the time. I either google something that has to do with the plot, or I go through 1D lyrics to find something that fits.Typically it’s something that has the right feel for the fic, and sometimes I put a bunch of titles above the text and just suss out the right one that way.

Is there a scene you’re stuck on?

At the moment, not particularly. I’m focused for now on the fic for the summer exchange, so I kind of put the other ones to the side. I can’t write for a long time every day so I don’t really get stuck on parts, I just get stuck on my body refusing to cooperate while my brain is still ready to go!

Is there a scene you can’t wait to write?

Everything for the summerexchange but especially the first time Louis and Harry lay eyes on each other again. 

For the pygmalion AU, the moment Harry comes to life sounds like an amazing thing to write!

For the steady love fic, oh man. The first time Louis realizes Harry is about to die. And then when he realizes he is in love with him. Did I tell you yet that this fic is going to break hearts? Mine is included in that.

What’s your process when you get stuck? Are you rational or do you flip ur metaphorical writing desk and storm out?

Call in my angels, @londonfoginacup and @lt2019 who are absolute godsends and who always read my fic and get me back on track. I have a few more people who definitely always give good advice (my lovelies Ri, Caroline and @pocketsunshineharry) but Emmi and Pam especially have the magic touch. 

Because I don’t write more than 1-2k in one sitting I don’t really struggle with frustration as much. I typically start my sessions by rereading what I wrote last time, doing some light editing, and then (since recently) putting on some nice classical music to write to. I can’t listen to anything with lyrics while I write, but there’s a ton of nice study music videos on youtube that do the trick and get me focused. 

I also typically work with a layout for my fics (ADHD necessity lmao) and I have two giant blackboards in my room to write little things on. Sometimes I just do research if I don’t feel like writing, or when I’m stuck on details. I’ve only gotten really stuck writing TNFIF because it was honestly just too much to really get a grasp on, but as my other stories aren’t that big I’m usually okay to continue the next time I get a chance to write. And if not, I have a big folder of screenshots of comments and tags and happy notes that reassure me I am a good writer and I can do this. And my friends, who never fail to praise me far beyond what I deserve :D

Not to be dramatic, but I feel like I’ve been waiting my entire life to write this. As most of you following me will know, I fucking love Harry Styles. Many know him as the former curly-haired member of One Direction, but to his fans, he’s so much more. Maybe it’s the way he lacks inhibition when he performs on stage, really letting the music take control of his being. It could be that he’s one of the most genuine celebrities of his time. Or maybe it’s the fact that this man managed to slip and fall on a kiwi in the middle of a performance. Harry Styles has a voice that has the power to captivate listeners and he has the personality that makes him one in a million.

From when he first auditioned for the X-Factor UK back in 2010, there was something undeniably special about the dimple-clad Brit from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire. When asked to tell the judges something about himself, his immediate response was, “I work in a bakery.” This statement has become the ultimate meme within the fandom, as his former job as the cashier, mind you, has followed him all these years later. In fact, we were recently blessed with the music video for “Kiwi”, which includes children, puppies, and a whole lot of cupcakes! If this major throwback doesn’t give off nostalgic vibes, then I surely don’t know what will. The moment he sang the first line of Stevie Wonder’s classic “Isn’t She Lovely” was the exact moment the world and Simon Cowell fell in love with him. Re-watching Harry’s audition video always has me feeling a certain way. At the age of sixteen, he was already capturing the hearts of millions, and now, age twenty-three, the numbers have only grown exponentially.

The success Harry has achieved in the past seven years is incredible. Whether that be as a member of One Direction, or as a solo artist, you can’t deny that he has the “it” factor. However, it’s pleasing to know that he has remained incredibly grounded, despite the found fame and fortune. “I don’t like people saying you’re famous…I don’t like the word. It gives you like no substance.” Harry says in the One Direction documentary, This Is Us. “I was the same guy before. I was the same guy during. And I’m the same guy afterwards” This is a perfect representation of how despite the perks of being well-known, Harry is still that same boy that worked in a bakery all those years ago. In an interview, Harry says that within the top five perks of his job, the money doesn’t come close. For him, being able to look out of his family, who have always been there for him, has always been enough.

Harry is a dork, but in the best possible way, which is probably why so many people love him. He can be awkward at times, but honestly, who isn’t? While he’s a spectacular performer, it’s the moments where he’s just being himself that we just can’t get enough of! In his BBC special, him and close friend, Nick Grimshaw, spent the day in his native, Manchester. If you’ve seen it, then you know how precious Harry is. The poor guy was roasted by the elderly during a game of Bingo! Aww. He showed his competitive side when he and Nick went head-to-head in axe throwing. The determination on his face, priceless! Even back then, we couldn’t help but laugh at Harry’s awkwardness. Who could ever forget that spit comment mishap? During an interview, a reporter had asked him (and Niall) what they found to be unattractive in a woman. Harry answered that he didn’t like it when a girl spat. Although it wasn’t intended to, it ended up being a mess. It was adorable, however, that when he realized his mistake, he profusely apologized. He’s human, he makes mistakes.

The One Direction hiatus continues to break my heart, especially now that all its members are venturing into respective solo careers. One good thing that has come out of this is we got a whole album with strictly Harry’s phenomenal baritone vocals filling our ears until we pass out from all the perfection. This album…where do I begin? It was this debut album that has put me in my current predicament as a major fangirl that is almost too enthralled to function normally. When “Sign of the Times” dropped in April, I was totally taken aback. It wasn’t something I had expected from a former 1D member. This song is reminiscent of 70s/80s rock, but with that modern flare. Around the time, I had come to terms about liking music from before the turn of the century, so when I heard the song, it was definitely up my alley. Each song tells a personal story of Harry’s, giving the listeners a little peak into his very private life. “I wanted to let the work do the talking. Part of my ego wanted to see if I could write something people would like, without them knowing everything about me.”

The self-entitled debut album has been on repeat since its release in May. No longer having to share the spotlight with his bandmates, we are offered a full dose of ten songs that highlight Harry’s vocal prowess. He recorded the album in the famous Abbey Road Studios in London. “Coming in and being around the studio, to do this and play the album for the first time has been quite overwhelming,” says Harry in his Behind the Album Apple Music documentary. Before this, he had isolated himself for two months in Jamaica, in order to focus on writing for the album. Having spent the last five years of his life constantly surrounded by press, this was a much-needed escape. “It felt like a little secret. It’s fun to feel like no one knows where you are. It made such a difference from being in a busy city. It created this total 360 writing experience that I’ve never had before.”

During his time in One Direction, it was obvious that Harry was destined to be a performer. He’s undeniably charming and charismatic, and has whole lot of talent. This has followed along to his solo career, where he continues to show off his impressive vocal abilities. It’s obvious how much he loves to perform, he was meant for this life. The way he loses himself in a song is one of the most magical things to observe. When he sings his songs like “Two Ghosts” and “From the Dining Table,” you can see how personal the songs are to him by how emotional he gets. Whenever he sings “Kiwi” and “Only Angel,” he’ll start dancing around, not caring if he looks crazy. Don’t even get me started on when he starts jamming out to One Direction songs…SWOON. You can’t imagine how hard it is for me to watch videos of Harry singing live without losing my damn mind. Yeah, he’s that amazing. Maybe it’s because I’m such trash for this Brit, but he genuinely is very talented.

Harry manages to form a connection with each person in the room, even those who haven’t witnessed him in the flesh.. Here are some of the things his former bandmates have said about our favorite dimpled-singer:

Aside from being able to work an audience, anyone who has seen or been to a performance knows how much Harry cares about his fans. The slogan for his solo concert tour is Treat People With Kindness, a statement that perfectly sums up his personality. A few weeks back, Harry had stopped his show to make sure a fan was okay. Despite the pleads of the other audience members to proceed with the show, he was determined to get this girl the proper attention until she was alright. I’m not sure how many artists would do this, but this is something that resonates well with fans such as myself. To have the person you look up to the most, show genuine concern for his admirers, is an unexplainably amazing feeling.

There’s this time set aside at each concert where Harry asks members of the crowd to join hands or even hug. A Harry Styles concert is a no-hate zone. His aim at each show is have every single person feel that they belong and can be whoever they choose to be. “If you are black, white, gay, straight, transgender, whoever you are, whoever you want to be, I support you. I love every single one of you.” His ability to make each individual feel loved and appreciated, makes him all the more lovable and all the more deserving of everything he’s accomplished.

1. describe yourself. I’m probably too loyal for my own good, but I like to say I’m a lovely person who just doubts herself more than she should.

2. if you could go anywhere for a week all expenses paid where would it be? Definitely anywhere in Europe. Hands down. I love the history there and just want to explore it!

3. do you have siblings? Yes, I have two. An older brother (20) and a younger sister (13).

4. what is your favorite constellation, why? Hmm, maybe the southern cross? I am Australian and I know for a fact that this is the only constellation I’ve ever seen in my life. I know, this is a bad answer, but I honestly don’t have one. 

5. favourite colour. My favourite colour right now is yellow. I don’t have a real reason for it. Maybe because yellow just helps me cheer up after a bad day.

6. what kind of music do you listen to? A bit of everything, really. Well, except for rap and country. I’m just very iffy with many modern rappers. And most country songs just bore me to death. Sorry country/rap lovers! Just a personal opinion of mine.

21. where did you grow up, what was it like? Well, my family moved a lot when I was little, but I grew up more in the town I am in still to this day. It’s a coastal town with a large population, but I have barely explored it! It’s pretty cool, but the weather is an annoying piece of shit! This album was like semi sugar pop but like come on that’s what everyone liked it for. Plus the attractive boys. What Makes You Beautiful aka the song that pre much started it all, what a good jam man, I still dance whenever it comes on. Can’t get over how little louis and niall had to sing though, I do love their voices also. HARRY SOLO mmm reminds me of the triangle formation (in which they mess w harry love his pants being pulled down) and now its uneven w/out zayn fuck u zen. 8/10 like this song a lot, don’t think I’ll ever get over it Gotta Be You Taylor Lautner in a wig song. Liam starting the song again my man. Harrys voice is like on the edge of breaking in this album and he can do all the high notes and they’re v beautiful. Still, a lack of louis and niall, its like come one man give em some more and for that it’s a bit lower, 6/10 (jesus fuck it was 4 minutes long I don’t think I remembered it being that long) One Thing UR MY KRYPTONITE. Absolutely loved this video, it was so cute, especially loved the couch. FIRST BIT OF NIALL and LOUIS IN THIS SONG BLESS. Extra points for the suits. 7/10 song, v solid.
