OK, all the non-shippy stuff in ep 8

I definitely think that seeing Crown Prince set off to Qing as hostage for daddy is setting off some sort of memories of his own past (whatever they are) in JH.

I find it interesting that Crown Prince, who started out as quite sheltered and also dealing with platitudes/abstractions (and not being able to take someone like JH being blunt with him) is subjected to all these never-ending small and large humiliations and it's honestly going to either break him or make him grow serious balls.

I loved the scene where he's supposed to be getting the usual lessons and he just breaks down crying.

And the lecturers start their lamenting and good god, I never thought about it, but going anywhere and doing everything with your own Greek chorus has got to be annoying as fuck! Not to mention you can't even have a breakdown in private.

And honestly, either breaking or fighting is fraught. If he breaks then well - I suppose he can save his life (unless he gets so pathetic he will be killed to avoid total humiliation or something) but if he stands unbending, the Emperor makes it very clear he can be replaced with a more obedient vassal.

But the Emperor is not the only danger for him, if he becomes too independent, Injo is not gonna like it at all; it was one thing when he was weeping and wailing with the rest of the court but the King is getting more and more paranoid (trying to wipe out his humiliation) and in general, as the story with YJ shows, cannot take any criticism or correct himself in any way. Of course, I know how this story ends and so I assume anyone watching this in Korea, which adds a certain doomed air of inevitable tragedy to it all. I do love how YJ, idealist though he is, is becoming awakened to reality, that his ideals are one thing but the reality is the King is unworthy.

Only a true idealist would say that and it leads to the King trying to get rid of him by sending him to Qing and when he balks, declaring him a traitor and confiscating all his stuff. (It's an interesting echo of what JH mentioned in ep 1 of Ming emperor and the competent general the former executed; his point of incompetence does not deserve loyalty is something YJ is discovering for himself.)

And I love the parallels between two rulers - one may be weak and one not, one may be powerful and the other a figurehead, but corruption and violence and just the pit of it all is the same, look at people in CP's entourage being dragged out and executed because someone rightly accused an official working with the Emperor's favorite of bribery. Being right and being moral means nothing, favor is everything.

(the horror on JH's face because he genuinely thought they'd buy their way out of it; the way as hardened as he is, the cruelty of the world still surprises him sometimes!) He gets to live for now, tho it's not sure for how long since the Emperor is looking for a rumor-spreader and well...

This is not about politics but I loved how GC talked her friend past the whole purity nonsense. She may think she fancies YJ but she does what's right and I love it, I love it that when push came to shove she was the one that secured her happiness and her marriage and it wasn't because of her feelings for JH, it's because it's right.

Hi Love, I’m still trying to figure out how to send the parody all at once because it’s pretty long so bare with me. But I do want to talk about my Stargirl idea, which will be vague as to not spoil the show in case you or anyone reading hasn’t watched it yet and wants to. (as they should!)

(Breakdown of the plot of Stargirl: the shows follows Courtney Whitmore, after moving to a small town when her mom marries her Pat Dugan she finds the Cosmic Staff and is chosen as it’s new wielder. Pat reveals the staff belonged to Sylvester Pemberton aka Starman and Pat was his sidekick know as Stripesy. He is only surviving person from the JSA who were defeated by the ISA years ago. The same night Courtney father was supposed to come and visit her, making he believe Starman is her real father. Courtney believes that the ISA are still out there and need to be stopped despite Pat telling her to leave it alone. She recruits Yolanda as Wildcat, Beth as Dr Mid-Nite, and finds the son of Hourman Rick Tyler. As it turns out the ISA are right under their noses and the new JSA, complete with Pats robot S.T.R.I.P.E they have to take them down.) (Also this show does have a few characters from Young Justice besides Stargirl. Icicle and Icicle Jr though he mainly goes by Cameron who is nothing like the one on YJ. Plus Sportsmaster, Tigress and Artemis are there as well, they are kinda similar but in this one Crusher is a good dad. No Jade tho)

So Blood Binder Readers backstory is the same, the lords of order coming in the night and taking out all but her. But in this universe Kent Nelson knows Reader is there so he rallies the Justice Society of America, the JSA to help him get to Readers dimension and save her. They probably use the Thunderbolt.

Now in this I imagine Reader to be like 4 or 5 at the most and let’s just say she is not okay with this. First there is the slaughter of her family, her people. Now she’s being sucked into a portal and dropped into a room of scary looking people, most have weapons or scary masks so she gets scared. She runs away from them and then encounters Pat, Stripsey, (Starman sidekick who doesn’t get treated with the respect he deserves) who is coming back from a coffee run. Reader sees him, and is like “he’s very dad shaped I can trust him.” And koala clings herself to his leg.

Meanwhile everyone else is running around the brownstone trying to find her and Pat wanders in and is like “I know as a sidekick I’m not supposed to ask questions but I gotta ask…” and lifts up his leg to show Reader.

The rest of them try to get Reader to open up but she refuses. Like if they try to feed her she throws the food in their faces but if Pat gives her a snack she eats it. Also I think this version of her in more chaotic and unknowingly uses her magic to mess with them. She’s not trained yet but her magic likes making their chairs disappear and their coffee to spill on them.

But then the events of the pilot happen and even if Reader didn’t prefer Pat he’s the only one left. So Reader is raised by him and that makes Mike her little brother.

The events of the show start happening and Reader finds Courtney with the Cosmic Staff and is like “she’s going to get herself killed I gotta help this little shit.” Courtney tries to recruit her because of her powers but Reader is very stern about not joining the JSA, she refuses to be on the team that had Dr Fate but doesn’t explain it any further.

As for her powers she’s not very well trained but is still very powerful. She’s spent her whole life with Pat accidentally causing problems because she can’t control her power. She has no one to train her since Kent Nelson died and she doesn’t know any magic users. Normally she just goes to an abandoned place, away from people (so no one gets hurt) just to practice. Still I think she’s randomly using magic that she’s comfortable with, especially to annoy the people she doesn’t like.

I do think she would be able to stop the events of episode ten (iykyk) because she uses illusions to trick Brainwave so they can escape. She doesn’t really plan it or know what she’s doing but does it with ease, proving to the others just how powerful she is.

During the final battle she finally shows how powerful she is. Because she believes in not only herself but the people around her. After the battle is over she agrees to join the team under the condition that she never has to work with Dr Fate. This is an non issue since there isn’t one anymore.

Since the villain in S2 is Eclipso I can see that being interesting too. One of the things Eclipso does in her inside their heads and makes them see their worst nightmares or things that scare them. I think he would use that to make her relive the massacre. This when she reveals her past to the others and the guilt she has about her people’s deaths. And since his powers stem from dark magic this would be a hell of a fight.

Also the Shade is introduced in that season and I can her matching his cryptic energy only she’s wearing a different color scheme and he’s like “the rest of these children get on my nerves. But you I like.” He would be a questionable influence but could help her with dark magic.

Even though a lot of people ship Rick and Beth (they are confirmed cannon) I like Reader and him. Both lost their parents at a young age and have to carry on the legacy but don’t know how to do it. Both tend to be a little reckless despite this. And since I’m S1 Rick wants to kill Solomon Grundy because of him killing his parents, I think Reader wouldn’t bat an eye where as everyone else is trying to stop him. Because she gets it. Also I like the foil of magic vs science.

Nat prided herself on her walls. The way she built everything up carefully so the constant remarks and insults slated at her could never make their way through. She could give less of a shit about what Tai said, none of it was anything new. What got to Nat, though, was Shauna thinking she needed defending. 

"Oh, fuck off, Shauna. I don't need you to defend me." she snapped back without a second thought because, seriously, who the fuck did Shauna think she was. There was really no other time to react before Jackie whisked them all away in an attempt to fix their deeply fucked up intrapersonal relationships before nationals. It was because of Jackie's brilliant idea that Nat was now face to face with an annoyed-looking Shauna Shipman, who clearly would rather be speaking to anyone else out of the group. They stand there wordless until Jackie pulls Shauna away for one reason or another, and Nat is left staring at the two. 

The night continues, and Nat is unsure why she can't get Shauna off her mind. It bothers her, in a way she hasn't really been bothered before, that Shauna keeps sending glares across the fire. This wasn't typical Scatorccio, and Nat knew that. Where the fuck were her walls right now? She hid her sulking pretty well by hiding in a corner with Kevyn until she watched Shauna frown into Jackie's back as they hugged goodbye, and Jackie took off with Jeff. If there was a time for her to silence the ache she had to make things up to Shauna, this was it. 

"Hey, Shipman," Nat said as she approached the girl, hoping that if she ignored what had happened earlier, Shauna would forgive her. And if Shauna forgave her, she would never have to think about the stupid pang in her stomach again. Shauna doesn't give a verbal response, instead opting to look up from her drink and wait for whatever else Nat has to say. 

"Tough night, huh?" Nat chuckles with her words, hoping to lighten the tension between them and failing. The space between them lulls for a moment before Shauna finally decides to end her silence. "What do you want?" she says. It's evident in her voice that she's trying to be venomous, but her voice quivers too much for it to give the effect she wants. "

"Look, I'm sorry for snapping at you." she flinches a little at her own words, not sure if she really wants to be saying them, but keeps going, "You were just trying to defend me, and it was cool of you." Shauna nods along to the apology before asking, "Anything else?" 

Maybe it was how small Shauna looked, or just her brown eyes holding Nat's so firmly, but Nat gave out an unexpected "Yes, actually." She wasn't quite sure what she was saying, and before she knew it, "Could you give me a ride home?" Another long silence preceded a quiet "Sure."

It was a quiet walk to the car, which Shauna had parked quite a bit away from where the party had happened. As Nat reached for the passenger seat door, a hand with neatly painted purple nails beat her, too. "Ladies first," Shauna let out awkwardly. Nat let out a small laugh and tipped her head in thanks. 

"I didn't take you for a nerd, Shipman," Nat said as Shauna loaded herself into the driver's seat. "What, the all AP schedule didn't clue you in," she retorted. "I mean, you're just so brooding, and I didn't know the two could go hand in hand," Nat chuckled back. Shauna just rolled her eyes and started the car with a laugh. 

Against her better judgment and every instinct, Nat asked if Shauna wanted to talk about it. The other girls' hesitation was obvious, and Nat wasn't offended. They rarely spoke during practice, let alone outside of it. But something about Shauna was enamoring Nat tonight, and she just couldn't fight it. 

"It's just Jackie being Jackie. I mean first, she drags me to a party I don't want to go to, gets me ready in a way acceptable to her, and then dips with Jeff because he wants to 'show her something,'" She takes a breath in an attempt to calm herself, it doesn't work, "it really shouldn't get to me anymore, right? Like I should be used to it by now, I know-" 

"You shouldn't." the sound of Nat's voice surprises the both of them. "Sorry, it's just that you shouldn't have to get used to it. You deserve better." She says and turns out the window. Shauna nods, the force of which tugs the stray tears in her eyes down her face. 

After a few seconds of silence, Nat finds herself putting her hand atop Shauna's that lays on the center console and squeezes. Shauna takes her eyes off the road for a moment to find Nat's and then pulls over onto the next empty road she can find. 

It's awkward at first but sweet. Shauna was on top of Nat in the passenger seat, kissing until their bodies demanded them to breathe. It wasn't until Shauna accidentally hit the lever to push the seat back that they considered doing anything more. 

Shauna made the first advance, disconnecting her mouth from Nat's to take off her shirt, an idea Nat gladly agreed to and repeated on Shauna. Then, Shauna was all over. Down her sharp chin collar bones until she reached her first destination. "Can I?" Shauna asked, motioning her head towards the girls' breasts. Nat made no verbal response, only able to nod emphatically at the idea. 

The drive after that was very still. Both girls too scared to break the deafening silence of the car. In the last stretch of the drive, Nat made her last impulse statement of the night. 

"I had a nice time tonight, with you," she swallows, "and if you were ever up for it again, just, y'know, give me a call. Or something"

"Yeah. I'd like that."

"Cool" 

The two connect hands over the center console, and silence claims its place in the car again, but this time, it's a comfortable one. 

Before getting out of the car, Nat tugs Shauna in for a chaste kiss before holding an imaginary hat brim and tipping her head in thanks. Shauna gives a giggle and answers with an "Anytime, M'lady."

She waits until Nat is in the door to leave, and Nat watches her take off from the window.

anyways, i will now elaborate a little more my jason lives au with some more of my thoughts:

as far as i'm inclined, i think that young justice forms by bart+kon hanging out (because that friendship is so important to me too), and like canon bart brings cissie, and cassie comes for kon.

maybe jason helps out kon and bart with world without adults, but since jason is still at a point where he's not really looking for outside friends since he's busy with batman, it doesn't really go any further than that. since jason is not so much the type to push them to form a group, they leave as casual acquaintances.

tim doesn't join yj right away, ofc, but that's okay because really young justice is about hanging with your friends

and then kon, bart, and lagoon boy infiltrate NML because they're, well, them and that's when they meet tim and he gets roped into the club

i think cassie would become de facto leader of the group much sooner here

now as far as jason: although i think that he would harbor some resentment towards the situation, especially at first, things would eventually ease up.

after all, once tim is officially part of the team and batman knows about him, he's no longer the isolater he kind of ends up being at first, he's back to being the great connector again

i'm sure he busts into jason's room in the middle of the night all "jason peter todd"

i'm actually inclined to give steph/spoiler as a friend to jason here, since she would be more likely to connect with batman and robin in pursuit of her father. this unfortunately possibly means she doesn't end up close with cass tho

and i've already commented this on all of y'alls posts and i'm going to reiterate it here: i really, really think we should consider the ray, who is 18-19 and joins young justice very late in the game and enjoys himself but ultimately leaves. he's an exasperated older brother-friend, and maybe he runs into jason and they bond over young justice being young justice

and really, all i know about the ray is young justice so i had to read his summary on the wiki and his story is, um, interesting. but also interesting. i liked the tidbit where his dad apparently employed agents and people close to his son in a giant scheme that would force his son to face his responsibility and use his powers and become a hero and that he grew up isolated with only one friend

....i'm just saying, is all

jason probably does get to join in on the zandia mission

but jason would join the teen titans with kon and bart and cassie instead of tim, and hmmm this probably isn't fantastic

anyways, obviously if steph is "dead" and the ray is busy with the freedom fighters, which jason is not a part of, he still ends up fairly isolated when bruce dies. and since, even though things are better with dick and tim at this point, bruce is still jason's sense of security, so when dick becomes batman and makes damian his robin jason no longer knows where he fits in gotham and feels that the only thing that will fix things is bringing bruce back

....does tim gently tell him he should accept bruce is gone and jason should consider therapy? (okay, i'll stop now)

Heyo! I'm assuming if you clicked continue you came to read my brain process on these silly little doodles lol, thanks! I just like talking about my art.

Lets start with the main dish shall we? Excusing my sad excuse of a hand, the pose was based on a halloween picture of myself and my cat. I have little to no real experience with Klarion outside of YJ, but I have read up on him and tried to dig into his whole 'satanic puritain/pilgrim' aesthetics in the comics!

However, I prefer colours to solid black and the breeches, doublet, and lack of belt made it come off as more renaissance/european... I do really love the colours and pattern tho, the star earings are really there because I love astrology symbols lol. But between u and me,,,, theyre there for pentagrams sake...

All the reds and blues are variations of eachother to limit palate aside from the purple/gold, to balance them out. Most of Teekl's colors are the opposites to Karions, it made me realize they have a nice contrast together when Klarion is blue.

Most of the art here was inspired by my own clothing and this specific klarion design!

Not much to say here

These were actually the first sketches I did for a redesign, I'm not as fond of the red and purple, it was mostly to test purple and bright colours on him. It was also a test drive for how id draw the face, sharp or soft, nose/ears, and hair. Now, I think i prefer a soft round face and small pointed ears with a sharp pointed nose and ears, to kinda show he's young and growing out his face?

Personally, as someone who want to dress in Ouji ('Prince' like lolita fashion) and wears some elements of the fashion, I wanted to use some of it for Klarion because I believe (I may be wrong, my bad if i am!) In most the media he is in, he's supposed to be young (obvi some are older, not all) hes the witch boy and a pilgrim and dresses formally it was just perfect!

It gave me the perfect excuse for ornate patterns too! Which, i feel like patterns and colours are great to translate chaos.

And now for my Klarienne sketches! Like before, i took most inspiration from pilgrim/puritain clothes but no lolita this time because I wanted to save a true Klarienne design for another time. It mostly falls to me feeling like the female design could be more different or go further? I also really loved the idea of a bonnet!! But I had a problem,,, how to I have a bonnet with horns?

I tested it atop as drawn, and decided that instead of poking through a bonnet I decided they would be stiled more like what i call 'dragon' horns as opposed to Klarion's 'imp' like horns with a back opened bonnet that allows them and the braids to fall out, so it turned out more like a structured headband. An updo would be preferable but to busy in the long run :(

And to finish off, the really cutesy round and soft Klarion I lowkey fell in love with but probably wont use.

I got my Shaunajackie playlist on shuffle and currentlly A House In Nebraska by Ethel Cain is playing! It's a big one for the Feels, not just purely about those two (tho there's this really good edit with it on here that plays in my head whenever the second verse starts in), but also the whole small-town feeling of loss. Been thinking about a Young Justice x Danny Phantom crossover AU.

Maddie and Jack build a device that repels anything that has an ecto-signatures (I.e. ghosts) that is within a certain radius of it (the radius is conveniently about as big as Amity Park). Vlad of course sneaks in and modifies it so it doesn't affect his ecto-signature and when it is turned on Danny (and all the other ghosts but they can just go back into the ghost zone) gets like ejected out of Amity Park.

So Vlad is being all smug and is like "I'll get them to turn it off if you become my apprentice and son" and of course Danny is like "fuck that". Jack and Maddie aren't good parents in this so Danny doesn't mind not being able to be around them, he bets they haven't even noticed he was gone.

Instead Danny decides "screw it, I'm going all nomad hero on this since I can't even enter my haunt anymore!". Tucker is of course his tech guy and they frequently chat over modified Fenton phones that have a much bigger range. Sam is the brain cell and helps Danny with planning and stuff and Jazz is Danny's human side’s backbone.

This happens 2 years after the accident so Jazz is off in college and she let's Danny crash at her place frequently.

Anyway so Danny gets a cool new hero look (tho he has a cloak that covers like everything and the hood falls a little over his eyes so he can’t be recognized) and basically he flies around to different cities invisibly and only becomes visible to help out when there is s crime happening. Starts out with smaller things like muggings or theft but eventually escalates to stopping more serious crimes as the team gets more accustomed to working on actual crimes done by living people (it's kinda ridiculously easy for Danny cause he has such an op power set when removed from the villains that specifically match his power set and since no one outside of Amity believes in ghosts, no one has anti ghost tech)

Eventually the public and the media take notice of this new mysterious hero popping up everywhere and when he is finally asked Danny says to call him Mirage (obviously if he didn't want to be recognized as Phantom he would pick another name and he came up with it on the spot since he hadn't really though about a new name before).

So the media is hungry and everyone is taking about who this new hero can be and how he gets from place to place so quickly. How can he fly and seemingly disappear into thin air and how do things just seem to go straight through him? He has to be a meta right? But what if he's an alien or magic user? They don't even know what his full face looks like cause of that hood and people have only gotten glimpses of his suit beneath the cloak. Needless to say it garners some attention. Eventually the attention of the Justice League.

Constantine can already tell it's a ghost he just can’t tell why a ghost would go through the trouble, it's not like he doesn't think a ghost would go through the trouble but usually ghosts stay out of living affairs unless it benefits them in some way.

The Justice League tasks Young Justice with investigating it and when Mirage is spotted a few cities over YJ immediately goes there and manages to catch up to Mirage before he disappears. They talk and Mirage is surprisingly laid back and funny instead of the serious mysterious character they thought he would be. Him and KF are joking around and Robin and Him get along great but then they start asking questions he isn't comfortable with answering and he disappears with a "see ya around".

au can go a few different ways but I definitely see Danny eventually joining YJ and also Constantine instantly knows Danny is a halfa when they meet but he doesn't get payed enough for this so after making sure the kid isn't up to anything he is just like "Don't break anything" before leaving Danny to his own devices.

I was confused about Cassie being labeled the daughter of Zeus in the chapter, personally. I thought she was the granddaughter?? After being granted magic shoes?

So- this is one of those 'it's different pre-flashpoint vs post-flashpoint' things.

First of all, to go over stuff pre-reboot, Zeus granted her actual powers- the Sandals of Hermes that first let her fly were actually Diana's that she'd just been borrowing. Anyways tho, when Cassie approached Zeus asking for powers, them being related to one another was not at all established yet. She just... went up to a god like that.

Later, after her identity went public and she'd received a letter from someone claiming to be her father, she approached Zeus about it- thinking that it might be him.

While he denied it to her face when asked, it was shown to us as an audience when she went to see the person who'd sent the letter... that is was in fact Zeus.

A while later she finally gets told the truth, that he is in fact her dad:

So pre-reboot she was his daughter.

However, the New 52 changed that.

During N52 Teen Titans since ya know, everyone's history and development got sent backwards and altered yadda yadda, Cassie once again didn't know who her father was. In this version of continuity she initially believes her powers solely come from the Silent Armor she wears, but later when Trigon fights the team and digs in her brain a bit he implies there's things she doesn't know about who she really is- having to do with the father that didn't raise her.

(Teen Titans Vol. 4 #19)

Now from some clues in the picture, one could piece together that this is Lennox, one of Zeus' children, (primarily that his general appearance matches how he looks in the Wonder Woman comic around the same timeframe, and that he has those cracks on his face- he's got skin that behaves like it's made of stone) but that's not something Cassie knows. So the whole 'who is my father and what is my true lineage' thing remains a question she's grappling with, but doesn't really get addressed in detail for a bit.

Later when the Titans are on the run after the whole 'We broke into a prison to try to clear Superboy's name but whoops he actually did do the murders he was accused of, and we escaped after being arrested,' situation, Cassie begins hearing what she thinks is her father calling out to her. Unfortunately Lennox is already dead at this point, ya know how it is, but when she follows the voice and finds his severed statue head we do get it clearly stated by her aunt Cassandra that she is a granddaughter of Zeus.

Now... in general Cassie showed up so little in the Rebirth era (like... she was in Young Justice! And uh... not much else!) that it's very unclear how much her origins were altered at that point, and throwing Infinite Frontier into the mix now just adds more questions... BUT both YJ 2019 and Wonder Girl 2021 have stuck with her as Zeus' granddaughter now like in the N52 rather than her as his daughter like pre-reboot.

So WFA labelling her as his daughter was just them using her original connection to Zeus rather than the updated one.
