Help! Is my friend going to be all pissy that I lost his cat?
Miss Manners, Washington Post, 28 November 2022:
Dear Miss Manners: A friend of mine is staying with me, and he went home for Thanksgiving, leaving his cat here. Well, I woke up the first morning after he left, and the cat is gone.
It is common for us to leave the doors open during the day, but the cat has never run off until now. So what do I do? Do I call my friend and tell him over the phone? Or do I wait till he gets back, hoping the cat will return in the meantime? But if the cat doesn’t return, will he be hurt that I didn’t inform him right away?
What a shock it must have been to discover that leaving the doors of your house wide open resulted in a cat vacating the premises! Such a bizarre, once-in-a-lifetime occurrence could never have been predicted! Consider reaching out to Ripley's to see if they are interested in this surreal and freakish incident.
But to the heart of your question: it's difficult to say whether any given person would give a single solitary fuck if their pet fell off the face of the earth. Everyone is so different! Sure, a few folks might want to know that their beloved companion has been lost, but the vast majority are probably just going to be like, meh, win some, literally lose some -- hence your harrowing conundrum about whether this man deserves to know whether his cat is safe in the care of the person entrusted with such! A handful of people would want to know about and participate in the search for a lost pet, but a lot of people probably forget they even have a cat once it leaves their direct line of sight! It's entirely possible, even more likely, that your friend is just this kind of person!
And yet, what if there is the tiny, minuscule, almost unfathomable chance that your friend cares whether his cat lives or dies? It's already truly bizarre that this feline hit the bricks after finding every available escape route labeled with a neon sign saying "take me," so it's hard to imagine the universe handing you something as doubly strange as your friend giving the barest shit about his errant pet.
The best course of action is to keep everything to yourself, forever, to avoid having one awkward conversation. On the off chance your friend expresses concern about his cat's whereabouts, simply place his belongings on the curb. Act as if you have never met him and never heard of his cat. Problem solved.

Found a lost pet in your neighborhood? 🏡🐾 Instead of heading to a shelter, try going door-to-door to see if their family is nearby. Most pets don't stray far from home.

i have four altars. they all serve different purposes.
Tumblr media
^^ this one is my Main Altar - it serves as my sacred space. it is where i practice magick, do my spell work, and leave offerings for spirits and other entities i don't have specific altars set up for due to not having the space.
Tumblr media
^^ this is an altar i had set up a while back for Scrooge McDuck - someone i view as a spirit of adventure. his altar is covered in coins (bc he loves money) and various items that had been collected during an adventure of my own. (as well as a few Scottish and celtic related things as Scrooge is a v proud Scottish duck.) i have yet to do more than just set up an altar for him, but this will work just find.
Tumblr media
^^ and these are my other two altars. the top one is an altar created to honor the ocean and the bottom is an altar honoring my lost pets.
some witches have more than one altar which may be used for different purposes. these are mine. hope you enjoyed learning abt this!

The Friends We Lost Along the Way
Please feel free to share any stories of friends you've lost and let out some of the hurt that comes with missing them. (this post will be edited frequently)
Shadow.
One of my first childhood pets. I didn't even consider you a pet then. I adopted you from a hoarders house that was filled to the brim with cats and kittens. You were so little that you fit in that little space between my legs when I sat "criss-cross-apple-sauce" on the ground. That was your favorite spot. I remember where your name came from, even though it took me a while to find the right one. You would always follow me around everywhere I went and I just knew you'd always be my Shadow. I miss being a kid, but not as much as I miss my first and only best friend, because that's what you were to me and I'll never forget the day my mom told me you wouldn't be coming with us to the new house. I still don't believe that you ran outside the way she told me you did. Every time I'm in the neighborhood I look for you, just hoping that one day I may be able to see you just one last time. Even though you're probably gone now, I can't help but want to find you. I love you and I will never stop looking.

Woke up this morning to my kids excitedly telling me that there was a kitten at my front door. Lo and behold, a little calico kitten was pacing in front of the door, meowing its little head off like it hadn't eaten in days. My brain reasoned that A) We have no idea whose kitten this is or if it's even healthy and B) My husband and I are very allergic to cats so keeping it was entirely out of the question...and YET...my heart instantly wanted to keep the little thing because it looked so cute and helpless and my momma instincts were starting to take over. I feel like a Disney mom over here.

There's always people theorizing how the Batfamily hides Jason disappearance and reappearance, but I literally haven't seen anyone use the best explanation: Witness Protection.
Like this literally answers every question. The Death Certificate? They had to fake his death. The empty grave? Obviously it had to be believable. The time when Wayne Heir "Richie Wayne" refused to step foot in Gotham and talk to his father? He was pissed about Jason's (non) death. Brucie Wayne's very real depression after his death? Well he lost contact with his son and he was under immense stress from the government.
Like this literally answers every question I can come up with. Why has no one said he was in witness protection? And if people have done it, send me fics and prompts because I'm obsessed.
And the best part is, the Waynes are so stupidly rich that they could pull it off. Lex Luther could try and conduct his own investigation but somehow he can never find anything concrete. And if he gets too close either Babs hacks them or Tim just calls up Conner for a distraction.
One time Jason gets cornered and asked how he felt about returning to his life after being in Witness Protection. Unfortunately, him and Bruce weren't on the best terms to explain the whole story but he comes in clutch. He spins the tale about how heartbroken he was to see his brother, father and grandfather grieving and how honored he was when he learnt his new little brother idolized him. Tim got ahold of a copy of the interview and will never let Jason live it down.
The media doesn't ask Bruce questions about Jason's death because last time they did he broke down and a suddenly furious reporter chastised them and reminded them that while Jason may be alive Bruce still mourned his death. The picture of Bruce in tears at the interview is currently one of Jason's favourite lockscreens.
Same goes for Dick. Any questions of his brother's death results in (1) Richie Wayne ready to throw hands at any and everybody, (2) his wife (well one of them) Barbara Gordon threatening the reporters or (3) That same Metropolis reporter chastising the whole community again.

Abandoned Pet
We’ve all seen starving dogs and cats wandering through our neighborhoods. We look, wondering if they might live in a nearby house but accidentally got away. And will soon be reunited with their loving owner.             But what happens when that same pet is still wandering the next day? And the one after that? Maybe even a week later?             What do you do?             The…

slightly different “content” today : i’m here to report a missing cat.
a resident of Trewe Street says she’s lost her cat, who is “black with white patches, orange eyes, a blue collar with no name tag, and a perfectly normal amount of tails.” if anybody finds a cat responding to this description, please contact us using the info on our website (link in pinned post). thank you!

From @frostedevents on Instagram: Did you know most lost pets are typically found within a few blocks of their homes? We’ve had a few missing pet moments, so I know that awful feeling of panic and worry. When our dog was a puppy he escaped from our backyard to chase a squirrel. Thankfully, one of our neighbors was able to catch him and return him home safely. We were all so worried! And then so relieved the moment we saw him again. Lots of hugs and happy tears! Pets are family members. It’s so important to help them when they become lost and make sure they are safely returned home as soon as possible. When it comes to reuniting a pet with their family, there are lots of ways you can “be a helper” in your community. Here are a couple: •Check for a tag identification and knock on neighbors’ doors near where the pet was found. •Snap a photo of the pet and the location where the pet was found. Share photos on neighborhood community websites and social media. •Check for ID tags or microchips. You can have the pet scanned for a microchip at your local veterinary office or animal shelter. Many fire stations, pet stores, and some gas stations also have pet chip scanners. Have you ever found a lost pet in your neighborhood or helped reunite a pet with their owner? Find out more ways you can #BeAHelper and help keep pets with their loved ones, visit PetsAndPeopleTogether.org for more info.
