anyway finally finished girls to the front. obviously had a lot of opinions about it. i have a lot more respect for the day-to-day lived realities of riot grrls and the underground community fostered. but like. man. is the music so secondary. my main critique of riot grrl is it took many of those bands growing out of the movement amd growing up to hit something truly, artistically great (music-wise).
#i think about marcus calling dc punk like. musically rigorous (in a way she was implying was 'macho' to a degree)#and how (1) most of the dischord stuff was still very much diy it was just naturally growing more experimental in a posthardcore landscape#but also (2) i dont think thats inherently.... a bad thing???? i guess i just dont see practicing a lot nd being passionate about your craf#as unpunk or some chauvinist methology that keeps girls out#like yes. allowing women the space to be imperfect. important! bc women arent allowed to play annoying shitty juvenile music#but that doesnt mean naturally developing as a musician and valuing tenchique and theory spits in the face of that#also of course sara marcus' perspective is pretty wack its easily the drawback of the book#she makes a lot of snap judgements and incorporates odd grudges that make me not trust her wholeheardly#lots of heroworship too.#the jessica hopper stuff is the most wild bc ive now become invested in hoppers like. career and shit#and even as someone who disagrees woth hopper on a lot i thought the book went Out Of Its Way#to shit on her in a way that kind of directly ruins her reputation as a music critic and such#and its so disheartening bc theres no grace given at all.#like again these were young girls and women- im willing to imagine theyve grown and changed and evolved#but marcus doesnt really care#or at least never interrogates that in the text itself#anyway! still positive experience to have a concise timeline and such#my posts

I don’t imagine this is something you’ve ever really thought about cause it doesn’t seem your style but do you think Mordred ever had a crush on any of the knights/Merlin/Morgana along the lines of how some students get a crush on teachers (as opposed to something serious cause like he’s baby). Or do you think it’s always been a little too much awe/fear initially depending on the person for that to ever manifest past serious admiration and then friendship
(Headcanon Masterlist) (Full Masterlist)
I keep meaning to finish off other pieces, and y'all keep sending me hilarious asks that I just HAVE to answer straight away. I don't know if you intended this anon, but the idea of Mordred having a schoolboy crush on someone in the gang is absolutely sending me😅😂
Also, let's pretend, as we do normally, that everything is perfectly fine and happy and smooshy :D
Ok so, he never has a crush on Arthur, because he takes one look at him (when he comes back as a 16/17ish year old) and goes "Dad?? Uncle??? Brother maybe?? I'm not sure. It's one of those, anyway." It's a little cute honestly, and Merlin and Morgana always take the piss.
It's similar with Merlin and Morgana, except there's a decent amount of HeroWorship™ in there as well, though that quickly ends when he sees Merlin step in a bucket and trip down three flights of stairs, with his only complaint being that he dropped the flower Gwen gave him, and he sees Morgana snort in a very unladylike manner and then choke on her own spit for a good three minutes, specifically at Merlin falling down the stairs.
With the others it's... a different story.
Percival is too big and stronk for our little boy, he's mostly just intimidated. When he finds out how much of a softy he is, intimidation turns into finding it weirdly cute and sweet? But also big and soft and safe?? Mordred is but a kitten, Percival, a soft-mouthed and cuddly but terrifying looking Rottweiler, here to pick him up by the scruff and carry him to safety.
He takes one look at Gwaine and Elyan and panics a little bit because..... why do..es his.... stomach... fee...l like.... thisss. It's an awakening moment for sure. Swishy hair,,,, smooth skin,,,, cheeky, carefree grins,,,,, muscles. This is the initial gut reaction, of all the ones he has towards The Gang, that takes the longest time to lessen, especially because it turns out that they're also super nice people, even amidst all the pranks. He has like... a weird friend crush on them, in that he views them as more friends than crushes, and he would never, could never, actually follow through on it, even if they felt the same, because it would just be too weird. He... look, he just thinks they're neat, ok? And don't we all, really?
It's kinda sad, but he's a little scared of Leon at first. The guy is a big deal, if you forget the magic shit, he's the biggest deal of all of them besides Arthur. And he's the only one there who used to work directly under Uther, and he was obviously good at it otherwise he wouldn't have got where he is. He's also a little too old for Mordred (poor Mor' obviously doesn't realise that Gwaine and Leon are around the same age. If anyone ever tells him, he'll die). Once he gets to know him and he's obviously not genocidal towards magic like Uther was, just a little wary and scared, he warms up to him a lot, and thinks he's super cool and powerful.
Gwen. Is. So Cool. He's a little in love with her, in the way that he can't speak to her without blushing and stuttering. But it's like... the same way I have a "crush" on Emma Thompson: if I ever met her, I would freeze up completely before telling her how incredible she is and beginning to ramble and repeatedly apologise and just generally embarrass myself. But, once again, wouldn't we all react that way upon meeting Gwen (or Emma Thompson)?
Lancelot is, at first, bit of a crush, then the moment he opens his mouth it's "Oh. Oh ok. Dad number two, coming right up." like the switch is immediate. Merlin and Morgana also take the piss out of this. Actually, they take the piss out of all of it. They are the older siblings and Mordred is babey. It's a requirement.
~
Anyway. That was fun, and I hope that was what you were after anon, I love you😅
Keep an eye out today guys, there's some more stuff coming😉

Servamp Theory: The Black Band
All of tsubaki closes subclass have them. It can be said it's because they are the most powerful/have to most impressive magical capabilites. I believe that true but I belive their are other reasons for them getting the black band.
Belkia: He's the first subclass so the first companion tsubaki has to be with. Belkia is capable of reading the room and know when to make a joke are give someone some space. That maks him a trust worthy friend. Someone tsubaki know he can be vulnerable around. Tsubaki mostly like seem stronger then he really is to his subclasses becuase he wants to be their support the way sensai was to him. He doesn't have to do with belkia.
Otogiri: She has a nurse motif so she can be like the self proclaim docter of the group. I know what your think their vampire they can heal any physical injuries they get. They can still feel pain. Not to mention C3 find option to harm and kill vampires. I also think subclasses could also keep feels of their death, like PTSD . Like if a subclass drown to death the choke up sometimes like their still water in their lungs. If that happen otogirl know out to do the hiemlich. Otogirl is the most reliable for when team M need medical help. That reliability made tsubaki give her a black band.
Higan: Him being the strongest subclass is a huge reason, but another is that higan help him but before he became a subclass. Let's say higan was a serial killer and one day tsubaki witnesses him kill and when higan was about to get rid of him tsubaki said he found the display like beautiful art. Higan was happy to hear that. They C3 show up to attack tsubaki and try to "protect higan save higan. Higan kill them tsubaki and him leave go talksome more. C3 or law shoot hogan tsuabki saves him and make him the number 2 becuase he kill the C3 people. Also higan is physically older then tsubaki so maybe in a subconscious way tsubaki see higan as a sort of father/uncle figure way. Sort of lawless and gils relationship.
Shamrock: Making him a subclass sure but why would tsubaki make a C3 a part of his inner circle. It could have been some sort of trick becuase C3 might be aware of tsubaki preferance as abandoned people as subclasses. Tsubaki saves shamrock because he could tell that shamrock feeling of betrayal was real, also I doubt shooting yourself in the head would be used as a trick. C3 couldn't garnentee being abandon would allow tsubaki to overlook the fact shamrock was from C3. Tsubaki understand the feeling of betray from someone you admired. As before sensai was kill he problemly admired his sibling, but they rejecting him hurt. Not to mention shamrock heroworship and servitude makes tsubaki see he want to admire him like he did to Yoshimasa. That relation and hero worship made tsuabki decide to give him a black band.
Sakuya: He is 15 why would tsubaki not just let him stay in the hotel the whole time like some other rather weaker subclass. It's probably a reasoning of guilt. Why didn't tsubaki save his sister. He most lioe tried but was either not their or was too late and she couldn't become a subclass. That guilt led him to sakyua. Tsubaki problemly likes that his subclass are at an age they could at least defense themselves. Sakuya was still really young and it not like taubaki could just stab him so he could become a subclass then and he also couldn't bring a human baby-child with him so he was forced to wait till sakuya killed himself lik his sister. Something tsubaki most likely hated. Tsubaki knew when sakuya would kill himself because he kept some subclasses around to report about him. When tsubaki saved him he felt bittersweet because Sakura probably suffered a lot becuase he didn't do it sooner. Tsubaki see it as his responsibility to watch Sakuya closely and try to make him happy. Giving him a black band helps with that and not seem like he is trying to forcefully be is parent figure.

There's something tragic in Hawks dying a hero. Just another famous pro ended up a statistic of fatalities, with his own version of a wikipedia article written in past tense about his career and nothing more. The country would grieve, and then its over. 'Thank you for your service.' At least with All Might, he had people to know him as Toshinori Yagi. You know how a lot of war veterans have ptsd? I doubt he'll forget with Twice. With anything. The way he grew up and what he trained for. (1)
It does have a long lasting effect. A lot of the instincts Hawks has will alway stick with him. So can't not be Keigo without being a little bit of Hawks. There's not much separation of hero and self. Call me biased, but Twice got to live a good life. Yeah he had a lot of sad and difficult moments. But in the end, Twice got to live with his family for some time. He found friends to trust and that trusted him. The League knows Twice and will fight to hell and back for him. (2)
You can safely say, Jin Bubaigawara got to live and be heard. Others and himself felt that he was alive. Hawks doesn't really have that. Tokoyami knows, a little bit. He genuinely cares, and that's nice. I'm sad anyways bc even Toko knows only Hawks the mentor, but it's closer than the rest. Knowing about little speech and gesturing quirks he had. He's the only one to keep the memory of Hawks alive, but to what degree, what kind? :( Kinda sad to think one of Hawks' closest connections is a teenager he couldn't let himself be completely open with. Hawks is always hiding himself, hoarding all the pieces never leaving them behind for someone to look too close at him. And that's literal, in the exposition of Toko and Hawks interacting in the Light Novel. I just wish he had other kinds of relationships too beyond the mentor-student one. I wish he wouldn't have to die without anyone knowing his real name, with having to die and not knowing what Toko thinks of him. (3)
Without having ever gotten to feel real love or care. What's the point of people realizing and sharing their thoughts on you when your already six feet under. Fatgum + protective instincts for our two bird bros soon? He's chasing after Toko, whose carrying Hawks. Pls he's a mentally exhausted and severely injured 23 year old whose been through seven months of stressful situations. Maybe some pros should reconsider their impression on the 'naive upstart who goes way too fast' (especially Rocklock, fight me for calling him an arrogant jerk.) I'm sorry I just really don't like how there's nothing outside workplace relationships. The villains are closer to each other than the heroes are. Gotta give points to Endeavor for worrying about Hawks and getting huffy at Tsukauchi over 'classified info.' (4)
I’m assuming this was all one ask, I’m hoping I’m right! XD
Hawks, or Takami Keigo, is a tragic character really. He was a child saved from an abusive situation (and potentially a son of a ‘villain’ if the theif!Takami theory is right) only to be placed in another abusive situation that disguised itself as a ‘training’ regimen for young new heroes. The fact that they told him to throw away his old name to become Hawks is telling of what exactly the HPSC expected of him. If he died, the only people who know his actual name are the HPSC and a villain. That’s it. And the only reaction you’ll get from the public if an official statement was released that gave his full name would probably be ‘huh, I never realised I didn’t know his name,’ because he’s not just Hawks to himself and the HPSC, he’s only Hawks to the public too.
Hawks mastered the persona of being a sociable person without actually forming proper social bonds until recently. The closest people to him are probably Endeavor, who Hawks has heroworship for and Tokoyami who he originally took on to learn about the league of villains and ended up getting attatched when he thought the boy wasn’t living to his full potential. And you can still argue those were work relationships at best (though his relationship with Tokoyami does seem to be evolving into a little bro/big bro thing and I really hope it does). So, you’re right, Twice did eventually have healthier connections then Hawks, or at least closer connections who he knows he could rely on in a pinch and not just because they’re fellow ‘heroes’ like Hawks would.
(Though I’m not sure if the league is aware of Twice’s story, I hope they are because I don’t want his struggles and hardships he faced before being associated with the league to disappear without anyone knowing why he reached this point in the first place. If there’s one thing I believe, it’s that the leagues stories need to be heard)
I hope Hawks doesn’t die here. I don’t think he will as there would be no point Dabi revealing his name to him then (especially as it looks like the recorder has become molten plastic as this point). I want Hawks to have the chance to live as Takami Keigo again and make connections with people. I want him to see Tokoyami become a hero and cheer him one and support him. I want his dream to come true.
Also to be fair to rocklock, he comes across as dickish but he was just worried about the kids during the overhaul arc because he’s a father himself and Hawks did kinda present himself as an arrogant person during the billboard awards. He’s a softy at heart and if he learned Hawks situation I think his fatherly instincts would come out too

Omg my Bosmer, Ophelia, wears an amulet of Talos trying to be closer to another dragonborn too! She even talks to talos' statues when she's stressed or confused about what to do!
Aw thats sweet! My dragonborn has no memories, so a major theme in her story is loneliness. It leads to a lot of her poorer decisions, including her early heroworship or sorts of Ulfric Stormcloak. Luckily, she learns. Eventually.

Omg, so, if Iwa-chan is like Kirin in this Haikyuu/seijou Babysitters AU, would that make Makki and Mattsun the twins? Who would be Kotarou?! Would tiny Midori be one of the first years?! I can image a tiny, tiny Kindaichi and it's just- it's TOO CUTE. Who would be the babysitters though? Would it be the Coaches? Irihata and Mizoguchi definitely fit as Usaida and Kamitani. Maybe Takeda as Ryuichi? Aaaah, I'm so invested in this AU and your art is SO FREAKING ADORABLE.
Hello anon! I am happy to find another Babysitter AU lover! *wave to you enthusiastically* For this seijou babysitter AU, I don’t specifically picture Iwa-chan as any baby at first. But if I had to name one baby I associate Iwa with I’d say Kotarou. I would just list some hc I have for this AU here, because I got too many and I really want to share:
Iwa is this well-bahaved, low maintenance toddler that every babysitters/teachers love so much in the daycare.
Iwa may be a quiet boy but he is very determined to make the people he cares happy, all action and little words. He also has this little face he does when he’s concentrating really hard on the task he’s doing, which is more like a scowl than a focus-faced, and it scares some of the other kids in the daycare when Iwa first got there.
Iwa’s favorite playdate at the daycare is Oikawa, one vibrant kid his age that doesn’t mind Iwa’s “aloof” or “cold” attitude and always looks so happy to play with him and reads him all kind of picture books.
Oikawa has very little reading skills but very brilliant imagination to make up for it and Iwa really loves Oikawa’s story telling.
Oikawa seems spoiled sometimes since he’s mastered his puppy dog eyes which can pretty much gets him whatever he wants in such a tender age. But once he deems someone as his friends or family, he is very generous with all his affection, attention and his favorite sweets even.
Oikawa’s elder brother is a high schooler in their school. He is in the babysitter club and the founder of the club as well.
Matsukawa is the full-time babysitter in the daycare. He is very laid-back and always seems like he’s teasing all the babies but he’s actually very perceptive and cares a lot of all the kids he takes care of.
Hanamaki is the youngest baby in the daycare who Matsukawa takes along with everywhere in a baby wrap. No one knows if it’s them spending too much time together or it’s simply because the baby is born with a similar sly personality as Matsukawa’s, Hanamaki always gets excited when Matsukawa’s planning to do another harmless prank.
Kunimi and Kindaichi are twins with very opposite personalities. While one is very unfazed by anything and the other easily scared and cries. (They have different surnames since their parents are the only kid of their respective family and they agree each gets one kid to take their surnames.)
The twins heroworship Iwa ever since Iwa succeeds in scaring away (but it’s actually Iwa wanting to pat) the big wild cat that tried to eat the fish from the fish tank the kids kept in the daycare.
Oikawa gets jealous and cries when the twins occupy Iwa all day at the daycare. Oikawa’s brother later arranges a sleepover for Oikawa and Iwa with Iwa’s father (single dad and a teacher at the school. Iwa’s mother dies in an air crash on her business trip.)
I feel I already wrote so much but there’re still the seijou-second years babies left unmentioned!? How many headcanons can I have for this AU. (੭ ˃̣̣̥ ㅂ˂̣̣̥)੭ु

about mary/gary stus
so I had a discussion with another user who claimed there’s no valid use of the term “mary/gary stu” in current year. So I’m going to toss my sheckles in about the topic.
When someone uses the mary/gary stu term it generally means the character is too perfect or too good at something. and they’ll often come with other qualifiers beyond that. a tragic backstory, somehow ostracized or loved by everyone, ect.
Generally as I’ve seen it mary/gary stu is used as a critique that the character is too powerful and doesn’t have enough flaws which make them unrelateable. a good example that is in popular media is the batman who himself is a mary su. But “mortal” you say, batman is popular and sells, how is he a mary sue? quite easily. a mary sue doesn’t mean they don’t have market potential. Bella Swan anyone? but the character excels too much. batman knows 30 martial arts, knows even more languages, can learn kryptonian in 3 days, is a chemist, physist, runs wayne tech... do you see a problem here? and the problem is honestly batman overall is fairly unrelateable. how many of us are rich billionaires who excel at everything whose only real flaw is his social ability. we never worry he might die, cuz he’s batman. or that he’ll screw up in law, cuz he’s batman. it’s so cliche it’s a joke in itself. we follow him because we like to see his adventures and pick up on his flaws to see if he fixes em at all. but then many of us follow batman not for batman but for his adopted children
his children which are far more relateable and human. dick is an acrobat and a good fighter. he’s not the best so he has many opponents who can put him on the ropes. he’s learned some detective work, but he still screws up. he’s trying to learn to be a mentor to damien and the titans and shows that he falters there... a lot. as he falters with korra in his relation with her. dick is loaded with flaws, but this makes him relateable and more likeable.
batman is who we want to be but dick/nightwing is who we can relate to. who you’re drawn to more as a reader is dependent on which you prefer. myself, i prefer relateability to heroworship.
a mary sue isn’t an end all be all in breaking a character. batman, superman and goku are all mary sues. but they are developed enough with their few flaws explored enough that they still draw the readers in. but it’s obvious when people discuss these characters there are far better characters. a character a reader can relate to is better than one who is perfect and good at everything.  mary sue doesn’t mean your character is bad, but it may mean they could use some work in certain fascets to make them more human. or maybe not. in the end it’ll be up to you as the creator and writer.

this is random sry but i was scrolling thru ur cm tag and you wrote sth abt how ppl heroworshipping mandy patinking for leaving cm r embarrassing and i now wanna know why what did he do?
[rubs hands together gleefully] oh boy i don’t CM anymore but i will revisit MP wank anytime lol. i haven’t sourced any of this bc the links are way back somewhere but they do exist
so basically, you need to have this in mind - criminal minds is about serial killers, and an elite group of people who hunt serial killers. and when the show first came out they had a couple of actual retired fbi consultants working on it to make it accurate and such.
it did mean they were a lot of dead women. women are most likely to be the victim of serial killers, so they often were week to week on cm. but, like, compared to other crime procedurals of the same time, criminal minds (seasons 1-5) was one of the best in terms of not glorifying harm to victims and respect to living victims within the narrative.
so come the end of season 2, and patinkin’s character gideon has a big arc where a serial killer he let escape comes back and kills his girlfriend. at the end of this arc, gideon is meant to kill himself. this would make 100% narrative sense for the character, considering his arcs for the first 2 seasons and his backstory, but...
mandy patinkin refused. without actually talking to anyone about it (and he was the Big Star, so the cards were all in his hands re getting the writers to take another angle imo) just refused and didn’t show up to set. didn’t tell anyone, just stopped turning up. this is incredibly unprofessional - it fucks with everyone on the show.
they ended up having to rejig a bunch of episodes and have him drive off into the sunset never to be seen again.
then patinkin starts talking about how he left criminal minds because it was “destructive to his soul” and how he couldn’t stand all the torture of women etc.
but the thing is, in the seasons he was in, there really wasn’t that much torture. yes it was dark, but he signed up for a show about serial killers, and to compare CM of the time to the likes of CSI isn’t fair - god i loved csi back in the day don’t get me wrong, but their “shock are gore” approach is something CM did not do in the early seasons (post s5 cm is a whole other post about failed spin offs and network interference)
he’s called CM misogynistic too, and yeah it had problems and theres definitely something to be said that an entertainment genre (crime procedurals) that are build on the suffering of women is ~Problematic~ but within the field of those, CM really was not a bad egg
and this would have been fine, if he’d just said his piece. maybe it was “destructive to his soul”, but he went on to star in Homeland, so he obviously hates misogyny and loves racism, and years later he’s still bleating about how had cm was while starring in another show with plenty of issues
also cm was the first show he bailed on, and apparently he’s quite difficult to work with
every time someone brought up gideon returning, the producers/writers would basically say “no gideon’s dead” - none of them have ever shown any interest in working with patinkin again, even if he wanted to come back.
and then eventually they killed gideon off in the narrative without inviting patinkin back in what was one of the better late season episodes tbh. like, theyd clearly been dying to do this for years so people would stop crying about gideon returning.
at the end of the day i don’t think patinkin was brave or was making a stand for women i think he just wanted out and to not feel a jerk for screwing everyone around lol
