Lughnasadh Masterpost - Spoonie Witch Friendly

Lughnasadh, this holiday typically lands on August 1st in the Northern Hemisphere (February 1st in the Southern Hemisphere). 

Lughnasadh celebrates the arrival of the late summer season and the abundance of the first harvest.

Usually it a harvest of grain and corn, but in other areas it’s a fruit and vegetables for harvest. You’ll see the days begin to shorten from here.

This is a holiday that is more easy to feel disconnect from as most aren’t out there Stardew Valley style on their grandfathers farm. We either have a small garden of our own or everything is store bought. Or those who are gluten intolerant they also may find it harder to connect.

Celebrating and honoring the harvest is important. Even if we are not personally gardening we are offering thanks for natures prosperity in keeping us fed and healthy with each bountiful harvest.

Story 1 Utsuho Reiuji is a Hell raven who acts as a vessel for the bunrei of Yatagarasu, the sun goddess's envoy. She gathered everyone together to see if the rumors were true!

Story 2 Patchouli Knowledge is a witch of indeterminable age who resides in the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Ever seeking magical knowledge, she can wield the magic of the sun, the moon, and the five elements (earth, water, fire, wood, and metal). Apparently, she agreed to participate in this experiment to further her research.

Story 3 Sunny Milk is one of the Three Fairies of Light, with the others being Luna Child and Star Sapphire. Her ability to refract light comes from her being a fairy that embodies sunlight. She agreed to help because she thought it sounded fun.

Sabbats: Lughnasadh Basics and Correspondences

Lughnasadh is one of the four Celtic Cross Quarter Festivals, also referred to as the fire festivals. It is the first of three harvest festivals held in the fall. As the grain and corn are gathered and preserved for the season, farmers celebrated the last of the long and warm days of summer.

The cross quarters are linked to an old farming calendar. This was a time when people were very close to the land and their lives were governed by the changing of the seasons and the need to grow enough food to survive. Modern Irish Gaelic calls the month of August Lúnasa which is the modern variation of Lughnasadh. The name originates from Lugh, a mythological hero to some, sun god to others.

roxanne weasley;  she’s his best friend. Someone he didn’t expect to exist in his life but does. She doesn’t judge him and she always calls him out on his shit, which he honestly needs. Roxanne was the first person who caught him in the common room after a nightmare and calmed him down from it.

BIO:

Stolas took his first breath on March 13th. Healthy and beautiful as his mum would say. That night he fell asleep in his father’s arms. Everything was perfect. Just the three of them.

A few years later, when he was 5, his parents started arguing a lot more than usual. Stolas sat on the top stairs listening most of the time. There was one day where the yelling was louder than usual. Something was wrong and he didn’t understand what it was. Hearing footsteps approaching he got up and hid in the nearest room. He heard his mother crying from down the hall but he knew he couldn’t leave the room. He waited for what seemed hours until it was quiet.

As much as he’d like to say he had a normal life growing up, Stolas did not. His mother wasn’t the most faithful of people which caused grief between his parents and eventually it trickled down to him. Stolas was constantly trying his best to be the best son his dad could ask for, doing whatever it was the guy asked of him. It didn’t take long for him to realize he wasn’t going to make any progress when his father believed him to be the child of another man.

Upon going to Hogwarts he had some space to try and be himself, which he wasn’t even sure what that was. Stolas kept to himself for the most part, focusing on classes. Though there was one girl that often got under his skin. She often made him want to tear his hair out or scream and the two often bickered between each other during classes or even after.

Around his fifth year at Hogwarts he grew a little more reclusive. Over break his father had forced him to join the DE against his will. Though he wasn’t fond of it he listened and followed, anything to make his dad happy really. It was something Luna often threw in his face.

Outside of Hogwarts he joined the Obliviators. Training and learning the skill to erase the memories of others. His father felt it was a good thing to have and he didn’t question it. Little soldier boy, typical Slytherin. He does his best to hide that he’s affiliated with the DE, anything to avoid more back lash.

Steve, the cat - Steve is a forest cat that has travelled with Luna through the catacombs and into the the Lostlands where the blight pushes agaisn't the dead ground. He is still a wild creature and the closest thing Luna has left of family. He isn't a possession if you asked Luna but if there was to be a fire, he would be the first thing she would grab.

She has a runic ironwood carved good luck charm that she carries around in her pocket.

She's a refugee who had her wooden cabin burn during the Magi attack and so she has very few possessions to her name but she does have an iron pair of earrings that belonged to her mother that she would fight for. The design is an carved Ironwood tree, it was made by the mother that she never met.

Don't take her rations.

She did grab one of her smaller axes when she had to go on the run, she keeps it under her cloak.
