among the many, many reasons why Annulling Kinloch Hold in Dragon Age Origins is evil, such as “those are fucking CHILDREN in there”, there is also:
any mage who made it through all that without making a demon contract or using blood magic to survive? has a will of fucking diamond. there is a 0% chance they will use blood magic or demons ever in the future, because they will never be in a situation more dire than this.
(note: I would never blame anyone for using blood magic during Broken Circle. everything is on fire, no one is coming to help, demons everywhere; if you run out of mana you’re just gonna have to start casting from hit points. but the Chantry would.)
Did you hear? There's going to be an animated Dragon Age show on Netflix called Absolution. Looks to be set in Tevinter as well which gives me the impression it might be yet another excuse to shit on mages.
I just did my first play through of DA2 in like 8 or 9 years and remembered how much I love romancing this tragic magic and felt compelled to render his bad postured likeness- which is very difficult as I have a hard time drawing Anders for some reason.
I also like to think he smells like leather and woodsmoke but we all know he smells like feathers and antiseptic.
So you know this party banter between Aveline and Carver?
Aveline: I don't like some of the people you've been associating with, Carver.
Carver: Talk to my brother/sister. He/She's the one in charge.
If you're on the rivalry path with Aveline, she says:
Aveline: Who says I don't mean him/her too? This city's full of people who are dead set on ending badly. I don't want to see you end up the same way.
I just- Aveline, you- you're so- hhhhnnnngggggg
I always rival Aveline when I play a mage, and if you think Edgar Aristide Hawke, who practically raised Carver and Bethany after Malcolm died and Leandra became a distant mother in her grief, wouldn't stop dead in his tracks at Aveline heavily implying he's a bad influence on his brother and Carver shouldn't hang around him so much since apparently Ed's someone set on ending badly...? Absolutely not.
This is another case of me wishing Hawke had the option to jump in during party banter with different options, because Ed would've chewed Aveline out for that.
Oh, and then there's:
Carver: Would asking you to stop spying on me help in the least?
Aveline: No.
While I'm not the biggest fan of Fenris in regards to his opinions on Southern mages, he's 100% justified in his anger towards the bastard who kept him as a slave. So for that Kotaku article to say that him and Merrill should be shot behind a shed is utterly disgusting. I can't imagine they said anything particularly complimentary towards Anders either.
I'm just grateful right now that I have no idea what Kotaku article you're talking about and I don't want to know, either. But yes, obviously Fenris is 100% right to hate slavery (duh) and the people who kept him in particular enslaved.
