My Baby

Loki pacing with ridges around the back of his head and cheeks more prominent unable to be hidden anymore giving off a faint glow in the flashes of lightning showing through the ceiling to floor glass walls of the Stark Tower living room. His free hand gently patting the back of the formerly fussy infant curling up again drifting off to sleep against his chest humming an old Asgardian lullaby he had forgotten he knew still flowing out of him naturally in his back and forth path calming the child who was woken by the storm.

Oc half panicked searching for said infant stopped glaring in sheer exhaustion at the Prince whisper shouting to him, “Loki!! What are you doing?!”

“Shh!”

“You did not just shush-!”

“Shh! Sleeping.” He said with a pointed glare of his own in return to the teammate he had barely spent an hour speaking to collectively outside of missions since his place here even before their pregnancy leave when they were ordered to bed rest in a care center Stark paid for fully to ensure their optimal comfort and relaxation for said baby they intended to have on their own not waiting for the textbook scenario to grow their own family. Though Loki had shown up every day simply to read to himself refusing to leave her alone for anyone or any reason including the labor.

“Loki!”

“Shh! Go to bed!”

“That’s-!” Suddenly a double of him popped up, this one more blue than he was with pink eyes showing his failing ability to control his shielding powers through whatever this was coursing through him. Back to her room she was shown and lifted to be tucked into the bed, “Sleep now, I have the little one.”

“Loki! Why do you have my baby?!”

“The storm woke-,”

“Yes! I heard that part! That’s why I got up to help my baby back to sleep but you’d stolen it!”

“I have stolen nothing, go to sleep. I have promised a trip to the zoo to the little one.”

“What?!” She squeaked out to the door being shut behind the returning double. Growling to herself she rubbed her face and turned over burying her face into her pillow muttering about the irritating Prince.

Trip to the zoo ensues with Peter Parker eagerly jumping aboard with Morgan and Stark as well for a family day out. All fully witnessing his doubles stalking circles around the group keeping crowds at bay, carrying bags or souvenirs as Loki kept hold of the baby carrier on his chest the now napping infant inside of it. Cross armed oc walked beside the Prince frequently glaring up at him, “Why do you keep stealing my baby?”

“I have stolen nothing.”

“Then let me carry the sling.”

“You require more rest after your birth. I will carry the little one.” He said with arms easing more across the baby carrier protectively.

“Unbelievable,” she mutters then huffs, “I need a pretzel.” Loki shifted a finger and one of his doubles trotted off in search of a pretzel making Tony smirk biting his lip at the comment he wanted to fire off.

Hours later Tony and Peter are sharing about the zoo as Loki is readying a lunch for oc and her baby to Thor who just returned from a mission. The blonde Prince beamed listening to all they shared until Tony said, “If I didn’t know better I’d say he was sweet on OC.”

Loki, “I am merely assisting a single mother with minding her newborn child. That is all.”

Tony, “Is that why you charged new socks, pajamas, blankets and pillows to my credit card to the tune of five grand?”

Thor chuckles, “Looks like you’ve hit your nesting stride Loki.” Wide eyed the raven haired Prince froze before his nesting brain kicked in refusing to let the meal sit and spoil for his racing heart.

Silently he finished the meal then returned to oc’s apartment where he set the meal down on the table and moved to the bed where she was nursing the baby. Her eyes shifting from the infant to his still wide eyed self, “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”

“I am not stealing anything. However, I desire to have your baby.”

“What? They’re eating, no running off with them right now.”

“You misunderstand me-,”

“So help me Loki if you snatch my baby away from me-,”

“My body is nesting.” Her brows furrowed looking at his face absolutely perplexed, “I did not intend to, however, I desire to have your baby. Protect it, and you, raise it. One of my Jotun traits I did not anticipate.” Silence filled the room flooded with uncertainty of what was intended to have happen from that admission. Yet when the child was done eating he took hold of it as a double guided her to the table easing her into her seat and fluffing her napkin out on her lap before acting in its new fashion as her waiter ensuring each craving was seen to while he rocked the child nodding off to sleep to another lullaby.

“You’re really just adopting my baby like this?”

“And you,” her brows furrowed in confusion, “That is how it works, for any wishing to threaten you they shall face my wrath.”

“Let me guess, when you get tired of this you’ll just zap off and play dead again?”

That had his brows furrowing in defense, “I am not my father! I will never abandon you, either of you. Or belittle you, or make you feel any less infinite than you are,” he accentuated with a gentle press of his lips to the head just under his chin a tiny fist had stretched to. Rocking from foot to foot his weight shifted for the child, “Unfortunately you are stuck with me.”

“You owe me. I am not sure what yet but you have a debt Princey I will collect at my leisure.”

“Anything you desire,” his nesting brain had him respond while the rest of him wondered what it might be she would require of him for this change to her life he had enforced upon her. She went to nap as her child had, still too stubborn to ever admit that she was still exhausted from the effects of the week in and out of labor before the eventual c section when her vitals seemed to be sinking by the day from the stress of it all. He had never felt so helpless as when he watched her suffering through trying to safely bring this child into the world.

First he thought it might have been that guilt but now in recalling those months he watched the progression of the child inside her belly to the stealing pain he felt when she vanished in the night while he was in a mission. That pain only silenced at his search ending with his place in the chair fixed at her side unwilling to move. There had to be more to this than nesting or every pregnant women he came across would be a harem of sorts claimed by him through his time here. Yet again on his heels he turned and up his eyes shifted mid lullaby where his eyes fell on a picture a double of him had taken, the exhausted mother with her new born child draped across her chest deliriously smiling as Loki’s hands were fixed on her arm using every bit of magic to help along her healing from the ordeal.

It was in his eyes, the determination and fear of losing her that struck him the hardest, to the weight of tears pooling into his eyes remembering himself in that helpless moment again. Inhaling deeply to the fussing of the baby his head tilted back to blink those tears away to calm down enough to begin humming again. Not three minutes later the child was deep asleep again and he strolled into the room leaving a simple note by her bed. Her dream vacation to Greece was about to come true, and he would be certain to do all he could to ensure the woman he now was terrifyingly certain he had subtly fallen for through skirmishes and shared silences comfortably lounging about in the absence of others could possibly find they might be able to tolerate a foolish Prince who very well should have known long before now what his body had been trying to tell him all along.

He couldn’t and wouldn’t let them go, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have her wishing he wouldn’t ever leave. The pain was evident in the comment on his growing bored, he had a child now, and one day maybe a wife if he was to succeed. He would never leave, never. And there would be a planet of bloodied stacked bodies of anyone dared to try. Shimmering again today a little more blue he returned to humming takin the child on a stroll through this floor unwilling to put it down just yet, planning all that was to come, and all that there could be for the new family of three.

Been a while since I made an NPC OC for Skylanders, so meet Ellis, who was also called "The Hooded Hybrid" by everyone in Skylands. Name: Ellis Species: Elf/Mabu Hybrid Gender: Male Element: Magic Family: Usher *Father; Deceased* Gabrielle *Mother; Deceased* Voice Actor: Sam Riegel (Like Kazuki Sendou from Comic Party) https://youtu.be/XUZ9XmBZbNI?t=233 Biography: Ellis is a orphaned hybrid of a Mabu *Around Flynn, Cali, and Nightshade's breed* like his late father Usher and an elf like his late mother Gabrielle. He once lived on an island in Skylands that knows less of the Skylanders where he grew up on a small house in the forest until age five where a gang of troll poachers invaded the household and murdered his parents before kidnapping Ellis. The trolls planned to have their own zoo much better than the Cyclops Queen's, where it's a zoo of hybrids they capture and display in a attempt to gain money to be rich, and Ellis is the first and only one. Three days after he was imprisoned, he managed to escape, where he grew up on the run for years, even wearing the hood to conceal his identity in order to avoid the poachers, while he grew up he had heard about the Doom Raiders and been avoiding places where they caused mayhem, all while he doesn't know much of the Skylanders, while one day, he may want to do good, as well as making friends because he's been alone for a long time. Three days after the Skylanders, as well as their allies, Hunter and Bianca's group, the five dragons and their Dragonfly companions from the Dragon Kingdom, Crash Bandicoot and his friends and foes saved Skylands from Spellslamzer and Nitros Oxide, there are unstable rifts that appeared in Skylands as Nitros Oxide's henchmen were planning to hunt down the 10 elemental orbs *Similar to the ones in Avalar* to give to Emperor Velo XXVII in order to conquer Crash's universe, as well as Spyro's universe, and Ellis wanted to find the orbs in each of the shrines, but everyone in Skylands thought he was stealing them, there, they refer to him as "The Hooded Hybrid". A few days later, Master Eon and Buzz sent Nightshade and Luminous to find and capture him and bring the orbs back. When they encountered the Hooded Hybrid, he recognized them as two of the Doom Raiders, and also thought they be after the orbs, while Ellis was trying to fight back the former Doom Raiders, the rift appeared and sucked Luminous and Nightshade away from Skylands and into Gasmoxia in Crash Bandicoot's dimension. A few hours later, Wolfgang, Dr. Krankcase, and Chef Pepper Jack went to find Luminous and Nightshade and deal with the Hooded Hybrid, like with Nightshade and Luminous, Ellis thinks they're going to steal the elemental orbs from him too, then suddenly the rift sucked Chef Pepper Jack away into Crash's universe, much to Wolfgang and Krankcase's dismay then another appeared sucking the two former villains to Avalar. Spyro and Cynder, alongside Dragonfly companions Sparx and Sting were sent to find the five former Doom Raiders as they never returned. When they encountered Ellis, they noticed he wasn't a thief that was stealing the orbs, but was trying to ensure that the villains outside Skylands won't go after them, but before he would reveal who they were, the rift sucked Ellis away, promoting the four to go through the rift, yet Spyro, Cynder, Sparx, and Sting were separated from Ellis where they ended up in Gasmoxia from Crash's dimension, but they found the Magic and Undead orbs, meaning he could be nearby. When Ellis was stranded on the planet Gasmoxia, he once again encountered Luminous and Nightshade, who have found the Light and Dark Orbs before encountering Terro, who wanted the orbs for Velo and Lord Akura for inter-dimentional domination, when Terro defeated Nightshade and Luminous, he captured Ellis and the Elemental orbs he has in his possession without realizing the Light and Dark ones, much to their dismay, realizing the Elf/Mabu Hybrid was trying to prevent the villains from taking them for evil purposes, before Spyro, Cynder, Sparx, and Sting appeared and found the two former Doom Raiders before heading out to rescue Ellis. When Ellis was locked up in the dungeons, he attempted to escape, but encountered Team Rogue's Raketi Hyena, Lars Black, Alejandro Gila, and Talon Hawk, as well as Oxide, before Chef Pepper Jack, alongside Dingodile, Tiny Tiger, Koala Kong, Ripper Roo, Pinstripe Potoroo, and the Komodo Brothers *Who freed him from the dungeons* appeared and saved him from them, right before reuniting with Wolfgang, Krankcase, Luminous, Nightshade, Spyro, Cynder, Sparx, Sting, Elora, Sheila, Crash,Coco, Crunch, Carbon Crash, Carbon Coco, Tawna *From another dimension from CB4IAT*, Irma Bilby, Bumpy Woylie, Pasadena O'Possum, Yaya Panda, Aku Aku, Lani-Loli, Ika-Ika, Dr. Cortex, N. Brio, N. Gin, Nina, and Uka Uka. After hearing Ellis's backstory and what he was doing, they went off to free Kupuna-Wa and Akano and retrieve the Elemental Orbs from the villains. After defeating Terro, then N. Oxide, then Velo *Whose robot body is once again destroyed* and freed the Quantum Masks and got the orbs back, they then encountered and defeated Akura before he and Terro retreated back to Skylands. After both universes are saved, Ellis gets to know more about the Skylanders while spending time with them while they promised to track down the same troll poachers that once capture him a a child. He currently lives in the same elf village in the Radiant Isles that Midori and her family live in.

OC-Tober Day 29: Need

OC: Flora Silverton

Fandom: Grimm

Pairings: None

Warnings: A little darker than my usual stuff at the beginning; poor Flora has a rough time settling in on a team that investigates homicides. Also, this is long.

She doesn’t like not having anything to do. It settles uncomfortably under her skin, clawing and taunting her, telling her she doesn’t belong. That she isn’t fooling anyone, and everyone would be happier if she just left. She’s useless in the world of monsters and magic, just an out-of-work teacher with a pickup and a smile.

She needs to find some way to help, to be involved. To feel like she actually matters to this team.

So the next time that Eve gets called in to consult on a case, she comes, too.

“You don’t have to do this,” Eve insists, looking at her oddly. “You aren’t trained for it.”

She shrugs. “So call this on-the-job training. Look, I came out here for you, girl. I stayed for you. But that doesn’t do a thing if I don’t actually help, and since this is what you’re doing, this is what I’m doing. We’re in this together, remember?”

Eve makes no further argument, just hops into the passenger seat of Flora’s truck and offers an address.

At the scene, they face a new problem.

“Cops only,” an unfamiliar Sergeant insists, holding up his hand. He glances at Eve in obvious recognition and nods to her. “They’re expecting you. But no tag-alongs.”

“Tag-alongs-” Flora sputters, but Eve holds up a hand, turning to the Sergeant.

“Tell Detective Griffin that Flora Silverton will be joining me today.”

Before he can argue, Wu appears, stepping out from behind the building. “Hey, Eve, the body’s just in-wait, what are you doing here?”

He doesn’t sound confrontational, just curious, but his words echo the ones that have been rattling around in her head for days, and her stomach turns. What am I doing here? I’m trying. I’m trying to help my little cousin the only way I know how. I’m trying to be a part of this team. I’m trying to prove that I can actually help. “Learning curve,” she offers instead, and he blinks, but nods.

“Let them in,” he instructs the Sergeant, who hesitates for only a split-second before nodding.

Wu holds out a small bottle of Vicks, and Eve waves him off, so he turns to offer it to Flora.

“What’s that for?” She asks, feeling slightly silly for doing so.

“You put it under your nose.”

“Why?” Maybe this is some sort of prank. Getting the new girl broken in, or-

“Because…” The look he gives her is somewhere between dry and concerned. “Dead bodies don’t smell good.”

Oh. She doesn’t even try to feign the same strength as Eve, reaching out and applying a small amount to her nose. The smell cuts right through her, but she has no doubt that it’s preferable to whatever she’d smell without it. “Thank you.”

With a nod, he leads them into the house. It’s busier than she expects, a swarm of people going to and fro with baggies and cameras, collecting as much evidence as she can. When they reach the living room, she nearly gags; even with the Vicks, she can smell it, and somehow, whatever she expected, this was worse. She looks over, and sure enough, that’s a-a body. She’s seen dead bodies before, at funerals and such. But this is different: three bullets to the gut. And there’s so much blood, and-

There’s no warning; the room just goes dark.

When she wakes, she’s lying in the back of her truck, a cool rag pressed to her forehead. She hums, lifting her head slightly, and the hand holding the rag pulls away.

Eve’s hand, she realizes, when she turns back. Her cousin is watching her, expression unreadable.

“Ugh… Did I seriously faint?”

“Yep!” It isn’t her cousin that answers, but Wu. He steps into her field of vision, eyes dancing. “Straight into my arms. Flattering, but there are easier ways to get my attention.”

Rather than dignify that with a reply, she simply groans, looking at Eve. “I’m really sorry. I totally messed that up, didn’t I?”

Unexpectedly, Wu doesn’t crack a joke at that, just walks away, leaving her and Eve to sort things out. Whether that’s a really good sign or a really bad one, Flora isn’t altogether sure.

“You can’t do this again,” Eve says finally.

“What, faint? I mean, I’m not planning on it, but-”

“This.” Eve gestures around. “Go on cases. This isn’t your job.”

Wait, she messed it up that bad? That Eve’s just willing to bench her, do not pass Go, do not collect $200? Her cheeks burn, and she ducks her head. “I’m so sorry, but if you give me another chance-”

“No.”

“I promise, I’ll get used to it-”

“I don’t want you to.” Eve swallows, looking a little less steady herself. “I don’t want you to get used to this. I don’t want…” She sighs. “I don’t want you to be like me.”

Flora’s heart might just break a little, and she reaches out without hesitation. “Prima…”

Eve closes her eyes, letting Flora take her hand for a few short seconds, squeezing tightly. Then she pulls back, looking up with that familiar, terrifyingly neutral expression. “You’re a teacher. Teach.” Then, softening a little- “We don’t have to spend every second together for me to know that you’re here. And I’m-I’m glad that you’re here.”

She can hardly argue with a speech like that, not coming from Eve. She knows how much it must have cost the woman in front of her to say something so emotional, so she nods slowly, in surrender. “I’ll leave the consulting to you,” she promises, omitting a silent for now at the end, “but I don’t want to teach. I want something more flexible, so I can help you if you need me. I’ll find something, though.”

Eve grants her a small smile. “Good. Now come on; everyone’s going to lunch.”

She’s not completely sure she’ll ever be able to look at food again, but sure; why not?

By the time she reaches the restaurant, she’s changed her mind: she’s absolutely going to eat everything they have. She hadn’t realized until now that she skipped breakfast, and she’s starving.

Everyone turns out to be Hank, Nadine, Wu, Monroe, Rosalee, Adalind, Diana, Kelly, and the triplets. They meet Flora and Eve at the door of this ridiculously old-school diner, and the group flocks in together. Once they’re all seated, drinks are ordered, and Diana’s off at the old crane machine (which she’s definitely cheating at, but if no one else is going to say anything, Flora sure isn’t), Hank clears his throat.

“How are you feeling now?” He asks her, and she winces, running a hand through her hair.

“Mortified, but I’m okay. I can’t believe I fainted.”

Hank chuckles, waving her off. “Don’t worry. I’ve seen rookie cops handle it a lot worse, and you aren’t even trained.”

She wants to believe him, but deep down, she suspects he’s just trying to make her feel better. “Really?”

“Yeah!” He grins. “At least you didn’t throw up.”

“Is throwing up worse than fainting?” She wonders aloud, and Wu nods seriously.

“Trust me, to the people who handle cleanup? It’s much worse. Plus, you don’t contaminate any evidence.”

That’s a fair point. She’ll take what she can get, anyway.

Conversation shifts to lighter topics, far away from dead bodies and throwing up (probably due to the faintly green shade poor Monroe was turning), and the rest of lunch passes without incident. It’s only when the food is gone and everyone is getting ready to leave that something breaks up the peaceful atmosphere.

Adalind’s phone dings, and she glances down, before groaning, closing her eyes briefly. “No, no-” And all Flora can think is: something happened to the rest of the team. Renard, or Nick, or Trubel; or all three of them. Maybe this Farley guy betrayed them all.

“What’s wrong?” Eve asks, instantly on alert, probably thinking along the same lines.

Adalind shakes her head. “It’s nothing,” she assures them. “It’s just, I’m supposed to have this whole week off, but my boss is insisting that I come into work. He says it’s an emergency. But I don’t have anyone to watch the kids, and-”

“Kelly can stay with us,” Rosalee interrupts, smiling warmly.

Monroe nods. “Yeah, he’s practically part of the family anyway. And…” He glances over at Diana uncertainly. “Diana could come too?” It’s hard to say whether he or Diana looks less thrilled by the prospect, and Flora speaks before she can overthink it.

“Maybe she could hang out with me.” Everyone turns to her in, frankly, a little more surprise than expected. On the other hand, Diana is a bit of a… Unique child. “It’ll be fun,” she adds. “Where do you like to go?”

Diana shrugs. “I don’t go a lot of places,” she replies, and she doesn’t seem bothered by the fact, but Flora wonders exactly what she means by that.

“Well, what do you do for fun?”

Diana blinks a few times, and Flora is just starting to wonder if the girl understands the concept of fun when she brightens. “I read a lot,” she offers.

Now this, Flora can work with. “Have you ever been to a library?”

Diana shakes her head, and Adalind blushes.

“I just…. Don’t want her levitating the books, you know?”

Fair point, actually. “Diana?”

“Yes?”

“If I take you to the library, don’t levitate the books.”

“Okay.”

Everyone gapes, and Flora’s not altogether sure why. Diana always seems like a cooperative kid. Sure, she’s creepily superpowered, but she’s also pretty obedient for the most part.

Adalind clears her throat. “No levitating anything else, either,” she warns, and Diana gives her a look that is dangerously close to an eyeroll, making her look more like a ruffled teenager than someone who hasn’t yet hit nine years old, but Flora’s just gonna let that one slide.

“I won’t,” Diana promises, and Adalind softens.

“Thank you, Flora.” She rises to her feet, and the others follow suit, taking it as their cue to leave. “It’ll only be a few hours, tops.”

Somehow, a few hours turns into several hours every day for the next four days. Oddly enough, Flora doesn’t mind. Everywhere they go is an adventure for the little girl who has apparently spent most of her life hidden away from the world. They spend hours at museums, zoos, libraries, parks, and anywhere else Flora can think of. Diana soaks it all in, asking thousands of questions, and Flora does her best to answer them. She’s never had a more invested student, and whatever questions she can’t answer, she does her best to look up.

Diana’s definitely a child, and more than once Flora has to put her foot down about not having cookies for lunch, but aside from one Incident (and really, the monkey deserved it), there’s no risky levitation.

Through it all, she doesn’t think much of it. It’s just a way to help out, and she enjoys it as much as Diana seems to.

It’s only after-when Sean Renard is back in town, calling and asking if she can come up to the Precinct to talk to him-that she starts to second-guess herself. What if she overstepped? What if she endangered Diana by taking her out in public like that? What if Diana was secretly miserable the whole time and now he’s going to yell at her?

Silly, but by the time she reaches his office, she’s in full panic mode.

“You, uh.. You wanted to see me?”

He glances up from some paperwork, and offers her a smile (that’s a good sign? Right?). “Yes. Please, come in. Shut the door, if you don’t mind.”

Well, that’s certainly not reassuring. She complies, and after a moment’s hesitation, settles into the chair closest to the door. His lips twitch, but he doesn’t comment, and she fights the urge to squirm. She is a grown woman, and this man has a hopeless crush on her cousin. She is not a child called to the principal’s office.

“Is everything…?” She tries, and he nods, setting his paperwork aside.

“I understand that you took care of Diana the past few days.”

Her stomach drops, but she manages a nod. “I did.”

He leans back in his seat, unfairly calm for someone who’s absolutely terrifying her. “She told me about it. Well-” He laughs, a little dryly. “More like she hasn’t stopped talking about it. Apparently, she had a blast.” Literally, but he doesn’t need to know about the homemade volcano display. “Wants to know when you two can have another ‘playdate.’”

… Wait, seriously? Is that all this is about? “I’d be happy to watch her anytime.” It’s not quite a question, but she lets her voice trail off, as she watches him uncertainly.

“I was hoping you’d say that.” He fixes her with a stare. “I also understand that you’re looking for a job.”

“How do you-” She pauses, realization dawning. “Eve. She told you I fainted?” That’s… A little mortifying, actually; she’ll have to talk to her about-

“Ah, no.” And he doesn’t laugh, but his eyes are dancing, the absolute jerk. “She didn’t mention that. Just said that you were looking for work, and that consulting on homicides wasn’t a good fit.”

And now she’s even more mortified, but that’s fine. She’s fine. “Yes,” she manages. “I’ve been looking for work. Why?” A part of her suspects she knows where this is going, and babysitting isn’t going to pay the bills, but maybe it’ll at least help.

He clears his throat, going a little more serious. “I’m sure you’ve noticed that Diana is something of a… Unique case. Her mother and I-and Nick-have been at a bit of a loss regarding her education. Not to mention socialization; none of us are home enough during the day to take her on outings.”

This is sounding… A little more in-depth than babysitting, actually. She straightens in her seat, looking at him curiously. “What exactly are you suggesting, here?”

“I’d like you to be Diana’s…” He pauses, maybe searching for the word. “Caretaker. It’d be a bit of a mixed job; somewhere between nanny and tutor. You’d take care of her while everyone else is at work, and provide her whatever education you think is appropriate. On days where one of us has off work, you’d be free to do as you liked, of course.”

“That…” She hesitates. “That sounds like a full-time job.” Granted, flexible-Diana’s schedule would naturally allow Flora to help the team-but still… “And I’m not sure-” She doesn’t quite want to bring up money, but she’s not sure he realizes exactly how much it would cost.

Apparently he tracks her line of thinking, because he cuts in. “You would be well-compensated, of course.”

And the man has money-she knows that-so he might actually be able to pull this off. But… “Oh?” She asks, aiming for casual, because it seems more polite than how well-compensated are we talking, here?

He reaches into his pocket, pulls out a check, and hands it to her. And it’s a miracle that she doesn’t faint again on the spot, because that is… A lot of zeroes. Considerably more than she ever made as a teacher, that’s for sure.

“I-” She tries, but the words won’t come.

“You’d make that monthly, to start.” More than her yearly salary monthly? “We can discuss bonuses later, and if you think that isn’t enough-”

Is he joking? “No! I mean, this is… This is…” She traces her finger along the check, throat tight. With this, she could find a place for her and Eve to stay. A nice one, if they want. And she could-she could-

Her mind is running wild, but a thought lodges itself in firmly, and refuses to let go. She hates it, and it seems more than a little ungracious toward the man that just handed her that check, but she knows she has to say it, or it’ll eat her alive.

“I really appreciate the offer,” she starts, and he raises a brow. “And believe me, I’m tempted. But there’s one thing I want to clear up before I accept.”

“Oh?”

She draws in a breath, grappling for the words. “You, um. You seem like a really nice guy. Have the whole time I’ve known you. But I’ve only known you a few months, and… I’ve heard stories.” His expression goes carefully guarded, and she hurriedly adds, “And I’m not judging! I’m a huge believer in people changing and all that. But if I take this job, my job is going to be taking care of Diana. So if I think you’re doing something like… Trying to convince her not to trust Nick-or even the other way around-I’m not going to put up with it, okay?”

She’s shaking now, well-aware that she’s probably crossing a thousand lines but determined to get it all out.

“Because if I take that job, I’m not going to be some pawn in whatever internal struggle you guys are having this week. I mean, I hope you guys are past that, but if you’re not… If my job is to take care of Diana, I won’t let you guys put me-or her-in the middle of that. Okay?”

He stares at her for several long moments, and part of her is terrified that she’s lost the job before she ever even had it. Finally, though, he meets her eyes seriously. “I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he promises, and the air floods back into her in a rush.

“Then… When do I start?”

He smiles broadly. “I think you already have. Can you come by my house tomorrow around 7? Diana’s staying with me right now,” he clarifies, and she nods.

“I’ll be there.”

Well, that’s not exactly what she was looking for. But maybe it’ll be exactly what she needs.

Oh oh oh I got a crazy and ambitious idea, and if this is too big of a question plz don't bother yourself with it but. What if the characters from your non-Star Gazer stories were part of the SG universe and time??? What would they be, who would they be and what do, how would they differ and look and all that jazz oh man oh man so much to knooOOW `8D (like, you don't have to go through ALL of your non-SG chars but as many as you want ahaha..!)

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo boi *rubs hands together* this is gonna be gooood....

okay, so most of these characters would obviously be side characters, since they’re not part of the main story, but it’s fun to think of where they’d fit in the world...

Fortis and Parvus would fit really well if they were humans living on one of the colonies that’s constantly raided by aliens. They’re parents would’ve been captured by aliens (instead of humans) which fits well bc their parents were captured for being mystical beasts in the original story, and humans are considered a unique/rare species in Star Gazer. Fortis would probably take over either his mom or dad’s old job and take care of his little bro. and, like in the original story, both bros are gonna end up getting caught and will have to escape and find each other again.

Elizabeth Blythe, welp...she’d probably live in one of the big cities on earth, and go on an expedition into one of the deep “radioactive” forests. The group would be attacked by mutant monster animals and most of them would be killed like in the original story, I can see James escaping and leaving for home. Faun would be a kid who used to live in a secluded town of people who lived in the area, but were attacked by more mutant creatures.

Roger and Petteri would most likely be living in one of the colonies, and Petteri would be a Living Star-Human hybrid that has the ability to communicate with the dead (kinda like Milo). Their story would change from running from ghosts to running from the humans who want Petteri dead. This would occur during the later times of the Purges.

Elliot and Sasha wouldn’t be royals, just a couple teens trying to get out of an arranged marriage (as that still happens in human culture in Star Gazer) their story would occur on earth, with their destination being the Capital. The technology would be a lot more advanced, but they would still deal with the same problems, just without the same tech and magic from before. Elliot is a Human-Star half-breed in this version, and his key is made from stardust.

The characters from my webcomic idea, with Flurr, would actually stay very much the same. Heck, it probably DOES occur in the Star Gazer world if you want it to. I was actually thinking of putting some of the species into my drawings as background characters.

Tawn and Pip would probably be escapees from a zoo/circus or something like that, Tawn being an alien and Pip being a human-Star hybrid (bc magic). Aerteretha would change from a land to an entire planet, and would be the place that both of them are trying to get to. Their story would be very similar to Chris and Shasta’s.

Chester and Pepper would live on earth, but remain the same species. The story would stay very similar, except that Fellundai are the products of leftover radioactivity and are hunted for being mutant animals. (instead of just mythical creatures)

Wan-Fang: The Picky Chef

“Everything could be better!”

Wan-Fang is the owner of a famous restaurant. His cooking is renowned across the land, and many wish to dine there. He has many awards for his skills but is very strict and cruel to the chefs that work for him. It’s been said that he finds fault in every single meal made.

William: The Assistant

“It’s my turn in the spotlight!”

William is the assistant of a great and famous magician. After many years of training in magic, he could never seem to get it right. He always wanted to be the star of the show, but always ended up being typecast as an assistant. He is rather soft-spoken, but due to thinking that he is inferior will have bursts of anger. Now, trapped in the constant, William can finally take the spotlight as a head magician.

Wajih: The Witch Doctor

“Nobody is going to die with me around.” Wajih is a traditional medicine man who works his healing knowledge on any who ask. He is a traveller who is often called onto by others for help. His skills are excellent and he is more than happy to assist anyone in pain. It is also said that he has had commune with the other side, although that may be just a rumour.

Warren: The Revolutionary

“I will never give up, as long as I am still breathing!” Warren is the leader of a revolutionary group, fighting for freedom and rights for his people. He is very serious and dedicated to the affair, but is very open and brotherly around those who he cares for. He was trained as a scholar and is very intelligent. He is currently attempting to convince people with his papers, as he is somewhat anti-violence.

Winston: The Undead

“Back for round two!” Winston is a skeleton who awoke in the constant with no memories of who he was. He vaguely remembers his name, but he is simply happy to be alive. Winston is a cheerful, joyous man who finds pleasure in near anything in his undeath. However, his lack of memory of his previous life leaves him a little dimwitted and unknowing in the specifics of objects.

Wren: The Painter

“The world is a beautiful, colourful place!” Wren is a painter whose art is slowly taking off. She isn’t unpopular, no, but she’s no Picasso. She is very poor, but desires to live off her art and is doing all she can to achieve this goal. She is very positive about everything in life, and as long as she has her paints with her, she thinks everything will be okay.

Wynn: The Zoologist

“I prefer animals to any humans.” Wynn is a zoologist who owns and runs a zoo. She is a trained zoologist and as such is very knowledgable about animals and their habitats. She is rather thoughtful and spends a lot of her time studying new creatures and their specifics. She was an explorer in her youth but is now retired. However, she wouldn’t be protesting picking up the mantle again.

Wendigo: The Cannibal Nurse

“It’s time to perform surgery.” Wendigo was once a human woman, working as a nurse in a hospital. However, upon accidentally tasting some loose blood she became addicted. She craved more and more before she finally snapped and tore into a patient. From that day forth, she was cursed to be a Wendigo, a flesh-eating creature of nightmares.

Wan: The Runaway

“Behold the magic of engineering!” Wan was a princess who was forced into the life of royalty. Wan never wanted this, instead, she wanted to traverse the wilds on her own and craft mechanical masterpieces. After being punished time and time again she finally escaped, building herself an empire of junk far away from her original home.

Amon: The Dark Prince

“Even when the void consumes the world, I remain.” Amon comes from somewhere beyond all somewheres. It is said that he is the son of Baphomet themselves. His reasons for being here are unknown, but his angst, wrath and emotions give him rough control of great untapped power.

PTSD: Larry was treated rather poorly up until he started school, often locked out of his mother’s room at night and left with nobody to help him through things but his uncle. His uncle was and still is a drunk piggybacking off of his mother’s paychecks, and Larry suffered a lot of physical and sexual abuse from him. To this day he dislikes being alone with the man.

Dependant Personality Disorder: Larry will pour himself into other things in order to escape his actual reality. Because of this, he takes on the brunt of handling most Vampire Society affairs, including but not limited to booking events and venues, securing timetables and even setting up the occasional bake sale. The busier he can stay, the happier he is.

Physical Health Diagnosis:

Flat Feet: Larry has to wear special inserts in his shoes because his feet have no arches in them. It occasionally makes running hard.

Fears: Being forgotten, aliens, being eaten alive, earthquakes

Positive Traits: Loyal, trustworthy, tolerant

Negative Traits: Self-deprecating, anxious, worrisome

Quirks: Listens to such a wide variety of music it’s hard to pinpoint his tastes; Likes peanut butter and cheese sandwiches; Has an interest in all occult/supernatural things but vampires are his number 1

Tends To: Busy himself to the point of forgetting himself; Become nonverbal during conflict; Cling to his dog when scared

History: The timing couldn’t have been worse for Larry to have been a shine in his parents’ eyes. Zach Fetter was content to be the guy Mariah Goodman’s parents couldn’t stand, and she was content to know she was breaking rules, until Larry came into the picture. The minute it turned from rebellion into the possibility of a family, all parties tried to run. Mariah, sadly, was a little stuck. She couldn’t get an abortion, and had to temporarily move back in with her parents until Larry was born. He spent the beginning of his life mostly with his grandparents, while his mother got back on her feet with a job.

When he was three, his uncle was released from prison and his mother moved out of her parents’ house to move in with her brother. The initial idea was for him to get a job and help out, but something always got in the way. He spent a lot of time babysitting Larry, who began to behave differently. Quiet, more sullen, he flinched a lot in the presence of his uncle and refused to talk about it. By kindergarten, he was reluctant to do much on his own, and immediately clung to an older kid by the name of Mike Makowski.

They became fast friends, and Larry was ever loyal to any of Mike’s causes, even if he was a year younger than him. When they became the South Park Vampire Society in fourth grade (fifth for Mike), Larry was a dutiful second in command that spent as much time as he could with his friends. They were all a very close-knit group, and even as they grew and everyone else changed, Larry didn’t see a whole lot of it.

He let himself be so enveloped in his work for his friends, in spending time with them and helping them with problems, that he never thought of much else. Most things that regular teenage boys did escaped him, barring his schoolwork, and he was always probably the least sexual of the vampire kids. Not to say that he didn’t like people that way, or that he didn’t have the thoughts on occasion, but he was always so tired when he got home, and it took a lot to get him to open up about things like that.

Second Best Friend Ever (Larry’s Elementary Verse)

It didn’t take long for Larry to be swept up in Mike Makowski. Someone that was so confident and cool actually paying him attention was the biggest, nicest thing anyone had ever done for him. He would have followed Mike to the ends of the Earth and back, and usually helped retrieve him from Scottsdale, at least by tattling to his parents.

Growing Into Oneself (Larry’s Middle School Verse)

In middle school, being the vice president and treasurer of the Vampire Society became his life. He would make sure that everyone had their tickets for dances and things, that everyone was going to parties or zoo excursions. Mike’s birthdays became a big-ticket item and he did a lot of work with Mike’s stepdad to get the parties to be just right for his best friend.

Workaholic (Larry’s High School Verse)

In high school, Larry got a job as a clerk at the Photo Dojo. If he wasn’t doing that or school work, he was almost always with his friends doing something. If they weren’t together, he was planning things, or taking dictation from Mike. He spent as little time at home as he could leading up to his 18th birthday, and after it he tried to spend even less time there.

We Are The Fortunate All The Time (Larry’s College Verse)

The second Larry graduated high school, he was already out the door. The soonest he could get to his college life and away from his family, the better. Sure, he missed his friends, but they all talked on group chats and Discord, so things were still close. Living outside of Colorado was odd for him, however, hard to really put into place. Outside of his friend group, which apparently sheltered him a lot, he didn’t know how to function.

Born a male Omega, Larry was always looked down upon by his mother, and his uncle saw him as a target. His grandparents took him in when he started to smell too much like his uncle, and have full custody of him. He lives with them in Middle Park, but still goes to school and hangs out with his friends in South Park.

Larry had never been much of a bad person. In fact, his only real flaw was that he trusted others so thoroughly that whatever they said or told him to do made him dangerous. A loyal friend, he became a majordomo to the royal family of hell when he died.

Larry is a Demasoni Cichlid, one of the least aggressive of his species. He tries to be a kind of vegetarian, but his species cannot survive without meat for long. He eats fish more than anything, though he goes into a frenzy on occasion. When he’s on land, he loses his ability to speak.

It started off innocently enough; Larry had been hoping to get some good, interesting work for his stories. Vampires were still a hit, even if it was more organ-themed now-a-days. But working as an apprentice to a Graverobber wasn’t always the easier thing to deal with, especially when squeamish.

Warn Your Warmth To Turn Away (Vampire!Larry AU)

It made sense, at some point, for Larry to obsess over vampires to the point of following ‘real’ ones. When he’d left South Park for college, he never once thought he’d find anyone that fit his aesthetic. Here he was, though, in a club called The Den, a bartender that didn’t realize just what he was getting himself into. Three days into his employment, he found out the dirty underbelly of the city operated there, and that most of them were not human. To keep him from running, he was slowly being poisoned, turned into a vampire that could still provide blood to others until the night of his full shift. Which just so happened to be his twenty-second birthday.

I Don’t Want To Be Team Jacob (Werewolf!Larry AU)

Larry had always loved dogs. He had enjoyed seeing wolves in the forest, thinking of them as vampiric familiars. The one time he stepped over his boundaries and pet an unfamiliar dog, though, turned out to be the worst night of his life. Trying to hide his new side from his friends and relatives was proving to be too hard, to boot.

Sinera, actually, since her magical focus is a pencil/brush. So, I guess it's technically more a pencil-induced spell. For the literal pencil, HM, but he'll make sure to leave lots of splinters and kill with many separate jagged stabs.
