Transformers x Human Reader Headcanons (Realizing Your Mortality)
Tumblr media
Time for some good, old-fashioned angst >:) Art credits to GoddessMechanic on DeviantArt
Optimus Prime
For a being as old as Optimus Prime, the passage of time seems to fly by in his perspective. He’s 9 million years old, and for anything that old, time just seems like a blur to him.
He knew that humans aren’t a long-lived species, at least by Cybertronian standards. However, when he realized that you two would only have about 60 more years together, it sent him into a deep depression.
Just thinking about what he did in the span of 60 years, it all seemed so fast to him. His stoic nature was starting to crack. He was upset and depressed just thinking about that.
He wanted you to be able to live forever, and as such, he tasked Ratchet into finding a way to increase the human lifespan. He made sure that whenever Ratchet wasn’t busy with fixing other Autobots, or resting, that he was trying to find a way to save you.
You found out and told Optimus that if you really were going to die, that you would meet again some day. Whether that be in afterlife or reincarnation. You two were bound by soul and spark, and nothing would change that.
Optimus felt better after you told him this, but his mission to cure human mortality would continue. Even if you were long gone by the time the cure to the short lifespan of humanity was ready, he would still follow through. If not to save you, to honor the memory of you.
Bumblebee
Bumblebee was just chilling about the Autobot base one day when the realization struck him like a ton of bricks. Around your 70s, 80s or 90s, you were going to die.
Cybertronians could be repaired, rebuilt, and continue on, even after their deaths. Even if their spark was extinguished, the Allspark could still revive them in theory. Humans on the other hand, if they die, that’s it. No repairs, no revival, nothing. It’s game over.
He began panicking hard. What if you died before the war was over? What if you died before you ever got to see Cybertron? When he learned of diseases that humans can get as they get old, like Alzheimer’s, higher cancer risks, etc., it made him panic even more.
One day he barged into Ratchet’s office and was ranting and raving about how short human lives are and how it was unfair. Ratchet got him to calm down and explain what was going on.
Upon hearing the cause of these ravings, he began to ponder a solution. He suggested maybe transferring your consciousness into a Cybertronian body, but it was a longshot. You overheard what was going on and decided to see what this was about.
You comforted Bumblebee and told him that no matter what, you were going to stay by his side. If he died, his memory would live on with you, and that you knew, if or when you die, your memory would live on with him.
Megatron
Megatron was always one to ruminate about things. His goals, the future of the Decepticons, the current situation on Cybertron, among other things. It was only a matter of time before his ruminating centered on your exceedingly short lifespan.
He didn’t know whether to curse Primus or whatever god created humans for making them so short lived. His own death was something that was always possible but dying of age wasn’t a possibility for him. His spark would be extinguished during battle.
Almost immediately, he got the greatest scientists and bioengineers within the Decepticon cause to begin looking into the human genome. They were tasked with finding a solution to humanity’s short lives and Megatron wanted this cure for mortality even more than his desire to control Cybertron.
Megatron was upfront with you about these plans. You appreciated that he wanted to extend your lifespan significantly, and would gladly take that option, but you wanted to explain something to him.
You told Megatron that immortality is a blessing, but a curse at the same time. Because humans live shorter lives, it allows them to appreciate the beauty of life. This was something that Megatron hadn't thought about before.
He had been around for so long and had been through so much that he seemed to forget the beauty of life even on Cybertron. Megatron held you in his hands as he sat on the throne, ruminating about this new perspective, or the perspective that he lost.
Starscream
The seeker knew right from the get-go that humans live pretty short lives. It was an undeniable fact that he couldn't escape. Starscream didn't want to lose you, so he began putting his mind to work.
He began by trying to get a few Decepticon scientists to help him, but that wasn't working because he didn't have the resources Megatron has.
Eventually, Starscream decided to build you a new body with the help of the previous scientists, as well as Knockout. The design resembled you down to every detail, even your soft human skin.
One day, you decided to see what your Cybertronian lover was up to, and saw the body being made. At first, you thought that Starscream was going to replace you, but he calmed you down.
He told you that you two didn't have too much time together left because you were going to die in 50 to 60 years. Hearing the sadness in his voice, you climbed up him and hugged the seeker's neck.
Starscream's anxiety relaxed and he rested a few of his large fingers on your back. You told him that no matter if he got that body working or not, you weren't going anywhere. Your soul was his, and his spark was yours.

Re: Winged Lion fulfilling Laios' desires + "Marcille will no longer have to be alone"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Throughout the lion's persuasion, Laios has been acting reluctant / defensive / angry / embarrassed. He tells the lion that his desires of having monsters attack a village was a foolish childhood fantasy. Concerning Falin, the lion tells him he's being a hypocrite because he's wishing for a peaceful world and they can't revive Falin without magic, then the lion says they'll move onto more cheerful topics and digs into Laios' "true" subconscious desire to become a monster (reflected in the succubus chapter).
Laios is clearly uncomfortable but the lion continues digging in. The lion mentions Laios' own desires of becoming a monster, loving monsters, desires that define Laios as a person, and almost glosses over his will to revive Falin? Because we all know he loves his sister and wants to save her. It's a noble and sympathetic act. But turning in a monster and potentially terrorizing or at least scaring people? Just because he wants to? To make up for his lack of social tact and his seeming distaste for humankind? That's not noble. So naturally Laios clings onto his goal of saving Falin (evident in the scene when the lion curses him and Laios immediately thinks of Falin), and just as naturally, the lion wants to uncover that and make him confront his "true" desire.
Laios loves his friends and his party, but I think the lion isn't granting them full livelihoods out of pure selflessness on Laios' behalf. Because his party, despite everything, accepts him. They cook with him, they journey with him to save Falin, they trust him, they support him. In the dungeon, Laios' monster knowledge is respected and valued by his friends. Right before the confrontation with the lion, Laios gives each of his party members something to do, in particular telling Izutsumi to kill him. This is probably because of her skills and the fact that he's known Izutsumi the least (and they're less close compared to, let's say, Izutsumi and Marcille). But regardless of how long he's known them, he trusts them. He feels comfortable and confident around them. He feels supported. He knows his friends will do what he told them to do. And in a world in which Laios struggles to navigate due to his social skills, his companions are very precious to him. The party is aware of Laios' shortcomings but they follow and love him anyway. Keeping them unharmed is a noble act, but also selfish, because Laios likes being accepted and cared for.
Keeping the party safe is a vague concept, but then the lion goes for the kill— Marcille's lifespan.
And you can see Laios' expression instantly changes. There's a whole panel of his face. Previously, he's been uncomfortable and defensive. Even when the lion points out his "embarrassing" and "selfish" desire to be a monster, he's not as affected as he is. Now, he's shaken. He twitches. He knows something inside him just wavered. And the lion pounces on it.
Regarding why Laios wants Marcille to not be lonely, I have some thoughts:
Sympathy
Laios is the one who saw Marcille's nightmare and knows acutely what she fears. She lost Falin and was traumatised because of it. The whole party got killed and she was also traumatised. And Laios probably thinks it's his duty as a friend, party leader, and someone who saw into her nightmare to protect her and make her happy. Falin might never come back and maybe Marcille's already lost a loved one, and Laios doesn't want that to happen again even though it inevitably will.
2. Marcille's time as a dungeon lord
Laios' argument against lord Marcille is that she can't force everyone to eat from the same menu and not everyone wants to live that long. This might be a translation issue, but the lion doesn't say it's going to extend everyone's lifespans. No, it focuses on Marcille herself and says "Marcille will no longer have to be alone". Not "everyone will live as long as Marcille" or "Marcille will live as long as everyone else". It's not about ages, it's how Marcille feels. Which is something Laios obviously cares about.
Lord Marcille was unable to fulfill her desires. What if Laios does it for her, in a kind of "two in one" demon deal? Logistically, in order for the party to keep Marcille company, they'll have to live as long as she does (note the 999 years), or as the lion says, make up a fake version of themselves to keep her company. It might not be real, and with a bit of thinking, this dream crumbles, but the lion deviously targets the emotions and it overshadows rational thought. What if it's impossible to keep Marcille company for as long as she lives? Maybe the lion will magically make it work. Just maybe. And Laios holds onto this shred of hope.
3. Solidarity of being alone
Marcille, Laios, and Falin all experienced loneliness / feeling outcasted growing up. During the nightmare sequence, Laios says Marcille is different from him because her dream takes place in a library to show how hardworking she is. But ultimately, they are people who don't like being alone. Marcille warms up to eating monsters and accepts Laios for who he is. Laios rescues Marcille from the nightmare and the lion. They are each other's comfort zones and they keep each other company.
Laios doesn't want to be alone, hence the lion offering to save his friends. And he doesn't want Marcille to be alone, because he cares for her, and she's just like him in that regard.
Mentioning Marcille's feelings is what tips Laios over the edge. He isn't embarrassed or angry, he's frozen to the ground, shaken and persuaded. Arguably, saving Marcille is also a "noble" goal in the way saving Falin is a noble goal, but I think L+M has developed so far that saving her will feel like saving him because they both just want someone to keep them company (especially with the context of having lost Falin, who keeps them company and loves them for who they are).
Before all of this, Laios trusts Marcille with his precious gourmet guide. It's his hint that he's turned into his ideal monster, but the fact that he's given the embodiment of his dreams and desires to her shows how much he trusts her and feels comfortable around her. And it's Marcille who passes the guide around their friends as they all realise the monster is Laios. Even as a monster, Laios is recognised, his friends cheer for him, they want to save him.
I don't think I've seen anyone talk about this before, but later, Marcille tries using her summoned serpent / monster to eat monster Laios. (Like how she used it to eat her friends when she was a lord.) And Marcille's monster actually swallows Laios. But then Laios claws open its stomach and breaks free. Consumption is a form of love and salvation. I liked seeing their different monsters: Marcille's being a sleek serpent with flower motifs, kind of resembling her sky fish familiar that she used to rescue Senshi and Laios' almost chaotic chimera full of bits and pieces he picked up and carefully selected (including the scylla head he picked from the succubus). Marcille tries to save Laios by using her monster to eat him. They all save Falin by eating her monster parts. Even though initially Marcille was the one most picky about eating monsters, in the end she summons her own familiars and monsters and engages in her own way of creation / consumption.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after all of this, it's Marcille who finds human Laios first. She doesn't berate him or anything, just treats him normally, tells him everyone is waiting for him. Because they accept each other and keep each other company. That's one of their core desires. Their character arcs intertwine and in the end they live together. Neither of them will have to be alone.

The fact that vash doesn’t age and will outlive anyone, including any possible love interest, is something that shapes him and the way he interacts with others. Its tragic. Knowing that even if no violent death comes for them, he will watch them get old, remain the same himself and outlive them.
But while writing my fanfic, I thought but what was before that? Like in stampede, vash came to live on ship three when he was still a young child.
They knew absolutely nothing about independent plants. They had no idea about tesla, no access to any records. All they knew was what vash could tell them. (that he was born less than two years ago and apparently went from newborn to young child in that time. That he had a brother but unlike said brother he couldn’t create anything.)
And that’s the thing. They knew vash looked, ate, bleed, hurt and generally appeared far more human than plantlike except for the fact that he grew so fast. It did slow down some because in 5 years on ship three he went from young child to young teen. Still maturing faster than a human would.
At some point he would have become an adult. But at what point did they realize he was not only physically fully matured but did not age further? Like talking as someone who was regularly mistaken to be in my late teens until at least my mid to late twenties, how long did it take for anyone, vash included, to realize his body didn’t age anymore? I don’t think they really had any reason to expect vash life span to be that much longer than a humans. They had nothing to go on when it came to figuring out what his deal was and neither did vash really.
In fact, what was before that turning point when they realized vash was no longer changing?
He grew from a newborn to a young child in less than two years. From a young child to a teen in roughly five years. Asides from his plant healing ability, vash was painfully human in most ways but matured so much faster. Did luida, brad and the others worry about what that meant for vash? Did they wonder if it meant that he would die young, maybe just after 20 years or so? Like a cat that is fully grown and all by two years, in contrast to a human baby, but will likely not make it past 20. Were they worried that vash rapid maturing would also mean rapid aging, rapid dying, like a human live condensed into a forth or so? Was there a time when they realized vash wasn’t rapidly aging anymore but at some point the relief about that must have turned into a new kind of concern. If vash stopped aging completely, for how long would that be the case? How long would he live if nothing cut his life short. What would it mean for his mind and soul?
Yes vash is an independent plant rather than a human but one of the things that sets him apart from his dependent sisters is in fact his mind. That he has a sense of self, more conscious, complete thoughts and feelings as an individual. Vash is mentally very human, especially because he clings to said humanity a lot (in contrast to knives).
But humans and their mind aren’t really made for immortality or such an extended lifespan. And plants normally don’t have the same sense of self and awareness and interpersonal connection. So as the bridge between plants and humans, where does that leave vash with this?

You know, theres something oddly sad yet comforting about how marcille isn't able to extend peoples lifespans in dungeon meshi. Its sad of course because you want her to succeed, you want her to eventually find a way, so people of all races can live as one, so people wont have to say goodbye just yet, but... its comforting because their solution applies more to real life. If you want to life longer, eat a balanced diet, re-think your lifestyle rhythms, and get proper exercise. It wont make you life centuries like the elves, but it still will let you live longer. And... Its sad. Marcille never gets to live as long as her friends. She never gets to create opportunities for her friends to live just as long as her. And that's how it is in real life too, isn't it? We will, most likely, have to say goodbye to all of our loved ones at some point, we'll outlive and be outlived. If there is a way to let us live for centuries, it likely wont be developed or even available for anyone but the rich for, well. Centuries at least. And while this may be a stretch, while she couldn't help her friends live as long as she wants. Maybe some of us in our world will be encouraged to live longer by eating healthy, rethinking our lifestyle rhythms, and getting proper excercising.

The Maybe Man by AJR is so Furina coded
Soooo I was listening to the new AJR album (I have Steve's Going to London stuck on loop in my head). And then I played through 4.2 over the weekend. And now I really want to make it into an animatic so I have a whole lyric chart thingy set up and everything.
Obvi this is going to contain spoilers for Fontaine 4.2 (not her story quest tho, I haven't played it... will probably rb this with updates if I decide to make any changes to the lyric analysis)
Tumblr media
This made me think of how Focalors and the Oceanids wanted to be human. They saw how the humans did goofy human things (having emotions, being happy, being sad, etc... hence the "made up and smiled") and went "Yes I want to do that". So they "don't want to be stone, [they] changed their mind". They didn't want to be oceanids anymore, they wanted to become human.
Wish I was a stone, so I couldn't feel
You'd yell in my face, it'd be no big deal
But I'd miss the way we make up and smile
Don't want to be stone I changed my mind.
This one's a bit on-the-nose. It made me think of Furina's accession speech and how at first she was earnest, probably thinking a lot about what Focalors said to her (the "places [she's] been" being the mirror scene when Focalors first told her to pretend to be the hydro archon), but then she heard the Fontainians judging her and questioning her legitimacy as an archon ("talking shit"). In animatic form this would just be where it shows why she started acting all-knowing and all-powerful. Also I wonder if she actually thought of the Fontainians as her "friends"/equals when she initially began her speech.
I wish I had eyes in the back of my head
Then I could see the places I've been
But then I would know that you're talkin' shit
I don't want to know what my friends think.
I've yet to see Furina interact with a dog so my first thought was that scene where she was playing with the cats in the courtyard on the night Arlecchino attacked her. Not that scene specifically, but just the idea that she normally plays with stray animals in Fontaine's city. The "I wouldn't live long" immediately made me think of her lifespan being unnaturally extended via her curse, meaning humans don't live long to her (not just dogs/cats, though it's the same way pets don't live long in comparison to humans).
Wish I were my dog, out on the lawn,
I'd be so glad when I hear you come home
But if I were my dog, I wouldn't live long
I'm sure gonna miss her when she's gone.
I wish I could act in a show on TV
'Cause then I could practice not bein' me
I'll practice my cry, put it into my reel
But you won't believe when I cry for real.
This one I thought fit Furina really well. Furina de Fontaine acts in plays as well as fakes being an archon. Bro is acting 24/7, always practicing "not being [her]". Because she never is her actual self.
In an animatic I could see that for the "I'll practice my cry, put it into my reel" it could show her crying, like full on breaking down, but then on the "you won't believe me when I cry for real" it zooms out to show that it's a stage with an applauding crowd to show that the Fontainians think it's just a part of the show she's starring in.
She wants to be as wise as a real archon. Whether it be her finally being able to come up with a way to stop the prophecy, or a way to always win in a trial (every "fight", or as she would put it, every "duel"). Except if she was always all-knowing, she would constantly be thinking about the prophecy or other super heavy archon-related things, and being a human, humans aren't meant to constantly be under that strain. Because (as I interpreted the cutscene, at least) even though she had the prophecy and archon role weighing her down, she seemed to at least have some moments where she was having genuine fun (i think??? or maybe she's just that good of an actor and fooled me ig)
I wish that my brain would triple in size
I'd nail every joke, I'd win every fight
But I'd get too deep with that kind of mind
I don't wanna know the point of life.
In some other life I would be rich
I'd travel in style, I'd cover the bill
But couldn't complain 'bout anything small
Nobody'd feel bad for me at all.
She's living someone else's life as the hydro archon. She already lives luxuriously so I think in the animatic it would just be showing her day-to-day life, doing fake archon things. But she can't confide in anyone the truth. She can't "complain about anything small", or break the image that she's this perfect being. And because of that, "Nobody would feel bad for [her] at all".
If I was cocaine or a bottle of Jack
I'd get invited to every frat
But when you get old and your good days have passed
You'll only want me when you're sad.
This made me think of her trailer where she was surrounded by all the Fontaine characters in a choreographed fight. Except instead, this part of the animatic would be her surrounded by Fontainians dancing. Naturally, as an archon, she gets invited to every party.
But when she gets old, and her good days have passed--when the flood dissolves everyone and she's all alone in the sea--she'll only have the memories of those plays and dances that she had with the humans when they were still there. (This never happened but it's what she expected to happen since the beginning. It lowkey reminds me of Briar Rose from Ever After High? Like she wants to party and have fun with everyone while she still can before everyone gets dissolved and she's all alone.)
The first two lines kind of go with the previous paragraph with the music and dancing. But the second two lines made me think of the scenes where she would have Fontainians having appointments to meet with her and being all excited. Except "two or three minutes, then I'm gone". I interpreted this as every human's lifespan feeling extremely short to Furina, especially with that one part of the cutscene where one of the humans was talking about one of their ancestors being the first in their bloodline to meet her--a human that we saw her "talking to" only a few moments ago in the same cutscene.
Wish I was a song, your favorite one
You'd follow the dance to me at your prom
I would be there when your baby is born
For two or three minutes, then I'm gone.
I wish I was big, as big as my house
I'd sleep on the trees, I'd skip every crowd
But I wouldn't fit on my therapist's couch
God, I could really use him now.
Now's when the meat of the song comes in.
She wishes that she was as "big", or as powerful, as a real archon. She'd do all the things a real archon could do ("sleep on the trees", "skip every crowd"... not sure how these would be depicted but you get the point).
But then, she wouldn't need Neuvillette anymore, which I see as her main support (even though she never tells him anything, she wanted him to go to Arlecchino's meeting with her to feel safe so I feel like she places some confidence in him / reliance on him at least). But she doesn't want to not need Neuvillette anymore. She wants him around.
I wish I was God, I'd never trip up
And if I did, well, so fuckin' what?
I could be cruel and break all your stuff
Yeah, I'd be loved no matter what...
THIS STANZA LKSDJFSDLKJFDSLKJ
Again, she wants to be a real archon (or maybe she doesn't--my favorite part of this song is how it's constantly contradicting itself and going back on its statements because maybe you would want to be all-knowing. Maybe you would want to be all-powerful. Maybe you would want to be God. It's indecisive and constantly changing, just like the human condition etc etc). She wouldn't have to be so scared of messing up. She wouldn't have to be afraid of the humans questioning her legitimacy. She could do whatever she wanted and get away with it. The Fontainians would love her no matter what.
But if I was God, it'd get kinda weird
'Cause you would only say what I wanna hear.
And then you would die. You'd love me to death.
I'd never know who the hell I am.
...Except, if she were an actual archon, she'd still feel weird about how the humans worshipped her. When her act is convincing enough, the humans listen to what she says without question. Especially that one part of the cutscene where she's meeting with one of the citizens and literally starts crying in the middle of it. She makes up an excuse about her being the hydro archon, thus having excess hydro in her system... and the human just. Buys it. She starts fangirling as Furina is crying.
And then they would die. They'd love her to death.
This could fit with that part with the talk of bloodlines and the first ancestor who met her, but I'd like to think that it meant the prophecy's flood.
The prophecy would swallow Fontaine whole. All the Fontainians would dissolve.
But they'd still love her to death. They would still worship her without question.
And she'd never know who she was for real.
I wish I was me, whoever that is
I could just be and not give a shit
Hey, I'll be whatever makes you a fan
'Cause I don't know who the hell I am.
I can see her saying this during her internal monologue stage as her play's final scene.
She wants to be herself, but she doesn't know how. She's been Focalors since day one, so she has no idea who Furina is.
One, two, pandemonium!
One, two, pandemonium!
Here I go again
One, two, pandemonium!
Here I go again
One, two, pandemonium!
One, two—
Here I go again.
---------------------------------------------------------------
This part of the song oml. "Pandemonium" describes Fontaine's archon quest pretty well, and combined with the instrument spaghetti in the song finale it conveys the feeling of the storyline precisely.
When the instruments start playing and the crowd starts cheering, I could see that being the magic box opening revealing that Furina is going on trial.
Here she goes again, about to put on another performance.
I was thinking of making this into a series? Like I have a lot of songs that line up with characters (not just Genshin, like I currently have one for Danganronpa that's been cooking for like a year) and I want to put it in some kind of lyric analysis / animatic planning format like I did with this one. I'm putting this post (along with the Lyney as Envy Baby drawing) under [ #smug's playlist ] so look out for that I guess?

Just out of curiosity, how long is the lifespan of a mew in this universe? Would they more or less live as long as the average man or ‘mon, or are they capable of living for centuries?
If they do have an extended lifespan, then do they happen to see any side effects of aging at all, or do they stop aging entirely after reaching adulthood?
Lastly, would Lavender or potentially even Randy be and different from, say, Akoya or the twins in any of these regards?
Well this got long. XD I'll start by saying they aren't immortal, for two reasons; One, I can't wrap my brain around writing just one character that's millions or even thousands of years old, let alone however many I end up with. Two, I want room to have lots of Mew characters, and immortality would eventually lead to overpopulation.
There's a TL;DR at the bottom, if the following text wall is too much.
I've talked a bit about their lifespan before, but I can't fully remember what I said about it (I think I said they can live between 100 and 200 years), and I actually want to change it a bit.
The average lifespan of Mews in my world is around the same as human, or maybe a little shorter for Mews that don't have the same access to man-developed life extending measures. So (barring outside interference from predators and the like), maybe between 50 and 100 years for wild Mews, closer to 100 for Mews among humans.
However, they can live to be much older if they can hone their transformation ability. If they can learn to transform life-threatening issues away, then they can considerably expand their lifespan. Anything that doesn't instantly kill or incapacitate a Mew can be healed through transformation.
So with that, how don't they live forever? Well, my head-canon is that their power begins to diminish after so many years (maybe up to 200, give or take depending on the Mew), to the point that their transformation no longer works. They will also show signs of aging the same as humans and other Pokemon. (Or animals, for a more real-life equivalent.)
Mews with a strong understanding of health and the threats to it, alongside their transformation, will have a much better chance of living unusually long lives.
As far as Lav and Randy, they fall under the same rules. At this point, Randy wouldn't be able to extend his life as far as Akoya would, because he doesn't practice transforming as much as she does. (Though I haven't shown it much, she's comfortable becoming other Pokemon while he isn't.) And Lav's transform isn't as capable as normal Mews, so she also may not be able to extend her lifespan, at least to the same degree. Nico is unable to transform at all, so he will live to be between 80-100 years.
If you read all that, thank you. I truly appreciate it. X3
TL;DR: Mew lifespan in my world is roughly 50-100 years, but can be extended to maybe about 200 years through honing Transform to remove life-threatening issues. Their power diminishes after a certain amount of time and they do start to age as normal people and Pokemon. Randy and Lav fall under this as well, so their lifespan depends on their ability to transform. Nico can't extend at all due to not being able to transform.

One with a strong family bloodline and a man to take over once your father was to step down as the head of the village. The second son to a fiercely strong leader from a small worrier village. Your family wasn't really looking for smarts or money, just level headed enough to keep the peace and  who are strong. So a village of fighters was what he landed on.
You had met the man once before, your father spoke to him about marriage and baby nonsense and by the end of the day he left, picturing you caring for four imaginary children of his. Your father had convinced him he wanted you as his perfect little wife and child bearer.
That didn’t sit well with you, not one bit.
Deciding that you’d rather be a wanderer and find a new village and live alone forever than to be married to such a man, you snuck out one night with a backpack full of supplies and money you stole and ran as far and long as your legs could handle. You stumble on shaky legs into a small village, stayed for a night in a run down Inn then left right after breakfast. In the month since that first night you had made it a considerable distance considering you didn’t get out much.
It wasn't long however before your parents put a bounty on you, using any resource they could to get you home. You hadn't even thought about bounty hunters being a possibility, you figured you could be far enough away from home that it would be impossible for anyone to recognize you.
It was Hidan and Kakuzu who managed to catch you in a small village not far from where the hidden mist was. The job was to take you in alive and you had to be unharmed or a portion of the money would be taken from the bounty and you had a high one that Kakuzu didn't want to lose. So high in fact he almost questioned why one girl was worth so much but quickly disregarded the thought because he figured it would be a pretty easy job and you were worth an almost disgusting amount.
That same reason was also why you were staying in a rundown bathhouse with the pair of bounty hunters. Hidan, while attempting to stop your squirming, had punched you hard enough in the nose to leave a pretty nasty bruise. While it was effective in knocking you out it also meant Kakuzu was going to have to wait to bring you in, so a cheap bathhouse for a few nights was the best option till your face was healed enough to at least look presentable.
When you woke the first thing you saw was the one with the mask. A stack of money sat next to him on the floor and his eyes were focused on a notebook that was practically tiny in his massive hand.
You risked sitting up slowly, an act to fake some kind of pain, a headache maybe? You didn't really feel pain. An experiment with a forbidden Jutsu that fused a demon's blood with a human that had been lost for generations, it was supposed to rescue almost all sense of pain and extend your lifespan by 100 years at least.. Your father used you as his guinea pig and at first he was proud that it worked but he soon decided you were not truly worthy, not strong enough to handle being a worrier with the ability to only feel a fraction of pain dealt to you.
The mountain of a man either didn’t notice you or simply didn’t care that you had woken. You sat crossed legged facing the man and watched him. He was huge, and the only thing you could see were his red and green eyes and his hands. Hands that looked like they could snap you in two with no effort at all.
You suddenly remembered that that asshole with the scythe punched you in the face! You reached up and touched your nose, bringing your hand to your face and you felt dried blood. That irritated you, not because it hurt because it didn't but because he actually punched you, what kind of sadist asshole punches a clearly defenseless girl?!
Your attention turned back to the masked man and in a moment all hesitation left you. “Where am i?” You ask the man.
“A shitty bathhouse in the middle of some even shittier mountains.” He said without looking away from his clearly important work.
Even shittier of an answer. “Who are you then, can you at least tell me that much?” You asked at least wanting to know who is bringing you to the fate of a bogus marriage.
He took a moment to answer and acknowledge you even spoke, scribbling a few more things down before setting the book aside and folded the money before putting it in his pocket, His green eyes now fixed on you. “Bounty hunters, nothing else you need to know.” He stated.
Well that wasn't an answer either. “I’d like to know the name’s i'm cursing for condemning me to a horrible fate.” You said crossing your arms over your chest, an attempt to look serious but with the fact that you knew this man towers over you, it really just made you look bratty. “Plus you must know my name, so it's only fair.”
Kakuzu’s eyes narrowed slightly as he looked at you in silence. You weren't sure what face he was really making, since you couldn't see anything else, his body was even covered by a thick cloak. “You're a little stupid aren't you?” He asked plainly, like it wasn’t offensive at all.
You couldn’t help the offended sound that left your mouth. “I am not! I just grew up with manners and respect, unlike you apparently.” you spat.
Kakuzu cocked a brow at your outburst. “I’d watch what you say Y/N.” He warned. When he took the job, he knew you were clearly from some kind of wealth, basically a princess in your village with how high the bounty was for you. He wasn't expecting to be handling a brat like you on the job however, normally women were scared of him instantly and here you were arguing with him.
You stood up and crossed the room for the door. “You can't keep me here, I've already gotten hurt once and I don't want you to mess up my face anymore than you already have.” Just as you made it to the door you were yanked by the ankle and sent to the floor. You caught yourself and landed on your hands and knees. “Ow! Why did you do that!?” you shout, looking over to the man who was just now getting up from the floor. How did he do that?
Standing even a few feet away he was huge, looming and paralyzing you in place. A couple long strides and he was standing above you. He crouched down to be closer to your level, even though it just made you feel even more boxed in. Grabbing your chin firm between his fingers he forced your head up to look at him. “Fair? I'm a bounty hunter and you're lucky you're a live case. As for manners, I've been around a long time and I've dealt with enough little brats like you princess.” He says. “And since they want you unharmed, I can't exactly teach you the lesson you clearly need.” He growled.
“Lesson?” you asked, confused. “There isn’t one thing you could teach me.” You chuckled and his hold on your face got tighter. Your hands came up to his forearm to try and get him to ease up but to no avail. “Oww, see you're a brute, hurting me this much.” You whined.
Rolling his eyes he loosened his grip. “I suppose maybe you're this stupid because you're a pure, sheltered, little girl.”
You couldn't see his face but you didn't need to to know he was mocking you. “Don't make assumptions about who I am, you don't know anything about my life.” You shouted in his face. Maybe not the smartest choice. Kakuzu jerked you towards him with the firm grip on your chin, causing you to let out a yelp. No one has ever handled you like this before. Even your father avoided even being near you once he gave up on you.
“The virgin princesses kept hidden from boys tell it’s her time to marry. Most stay in the marriage and bear their husbands children but some, like you, run away but they tend to end up back home and married too.” He says like it was all facts. “Your kind has been around for a long time, princess.”
Your cheeks heat up at his accuracy nonetheless, that was the exact predicament you were in. “But I don't want to go back, he's stupid and he acts like a child!” you whined. “And I'm not a virgin!” you added. You don't know why you felt the need to defend that part of yourself, yeah you weren't a virgin but you might as hell have been. It was once when you were seventeen with a fisherman's son. It sucked and he came in two minutes.
“That so? A brat like you who acts like a child got someone to sleep with her?” He shot the insult at you with a chuckle.
Now fully offended by the man you struggle even harder to get out of his hold. Yanking on his arm and attempting to hit his chest with your fists but none of it worked. All it did was cause a deep rumbling laugh coming from the masked man as he watched you struggle. “Listen here princess.” His gravely stern voice froze your movements. His hold on you stayed firm and his eyes narrowed in on you. “If i knew i was going to be handling a brat i would have brought some rope to keep you tied up and quiet, but if you don't shut up now then your ass is going to be in a lot of pain later.” He threatened with a growl. “Understood?” You gulped and shook your head in understanding. His voice is enough to send shivers up your spine. “Good girl.” he said and released his hold on your face before standing up, walking back over to taking up his spot in the corner of the room. “And you don’t act like a child?” He asked, clearly taunting her. He almost couldn't help it, things got boring and a little brat taming was always interesting. He just had to keep himself in check.
You sat back down and crossed your arms. “Do you really have to take me back? Are you really that heartless?” you asked, pouting and sticking out your bottom lip.
You amused the grumpy old man. A woman who was determined to not follow such a blind path in life was admirable. The money on your head was too good to pass up however. “Save it princess, for your price I'm not backing out now. You‘ll look fine in a few days, Hidan’s out getting ointment right now to heal you up faster.” He informed you.
“So you can say the other guy's name but not your own!” You stood up and marched over to where the man sat with an elbow resting on one knee. You didn't get him, why did it even matter? He looked up at you, turning his head just a little with curiosity. What did you think you were going to do? “I bet you aren't even that tough, just big and scary and lucky you were in the same run down village as me, I mean you did have to knock me out.” You mocked him.
Kakuzu almost couldn't even be mad at your bratty rant because he couldn't believe just how dumb that logic was and how you couldn't see that. His cloak alone told everyone who he was, a bounty hunter from the akatsuki organization. The largest team of organized bounty hunters that's been established. He almost stayed perfectly calm, almost. Arm flashed before your eyes and before you could register anything that was happening his massive hand was wrapped around your neck and yanking you down to your knees between his own. Your hands came up to his arm like before in an attempt to make him release you and just like last time it didn't work. His grip around your neck was tight and quickly restricting any air flow.
Leaning in so his face was level with yours he spoke in a low intimidating tone. “Listen here little girl, keep acting like a brat or you might not be making it home so safely.” He tightened his grip enough for you to suck in air and keep your focus as he continued. “This place is cheap and in the middle of mountains most people don't want to venture up. Besides with rich people the longer you're missing, more money tends to be poured into the pot.”
For a moment you glared up at him but almost instantly you put two and two together, yeah he gets more money later but you stay away from home longer and can maybe find a way to get free again. Almost instantly your bratty instinct kicked into overdrive. You let out a snort. “Like an old man like you would be able to keep up with handling me.” You retorted.
Kakuzu was just about to make you regret those words, his tendrils were about to creep out from under his long sleeve to wrap around your neck so his hands could make good on that promise from earlier but before he could the door slid open and Hidan came barging in.
His scythe almost hit the door frame on the way in, he set it down in the corner by the door. “got that cream shit you told me to get, had a few other stops along the way.” He tossed a small bottle in your general direction before he even noticed the position you two were in but when he did a comical grin spread across his face. “What's up old man? Taking the princesses for a ride?” He jokes, howling a laugh.
Your face instantly darkened into a deep blush when you realized just how close you were and how this looked from the outside. You looked to Kakuzu to let you go. He rolled his eyes and dropped his hand from your throat, threads retreating. You stood and shook your head dramatically. “No, that's not at all what is going on! He was being mean and hurting me!” you defended yourself.
Hidan looked you two over as he made his way into the room and circled you once before taking the place right behind you. He leaned down to speak low and soft in your ear. “Well if he isn't then why don't you come back to my room? I’ll fuck you just right baby, oh yeah I’d have you screaming for me.”
His hand came up to grip your hip, causing you to jerk around and face the filthy mouthed man. “Why would I ever do that? You'd probably kill me!” You accused the white haired man.
Hidan fakes offense and gasps but his devilish grin couldnt leave his face long enough for him to be taken seriously. He took a step closer and reached a hand behind your head, cradding it softly but keeping you in place as he leaned back down to your ear. “C’mon, I could make a virgin like you cum on my cock in a minute.” He whispered and gave your ear lobe a soft nip.
Your face was burning now and you were starting to feel really hot. “You both keep calling me a virgin but im not! I've been with a man.” you defend yourself against another assumption. You push his hands away from you and go to take a few steps back but your foot hits something and you're suddenly tumbling backwards. You land hard on your ass with an ‘ooofe’  while your back hits something solid, it couldn't be the wall. You turn around and have to look up to see Kakuzu's masked face staring down at you, eyes holding a bored expression. Your face felt like it was on fire, this whole situation turned horrible in an instant.
Kakuzu’s thick arm wrapped around your middle before you could even think about getting up yourself. You were being lifted and held at the giant man's side like a rag doll as he stood. “Hidan, stop messing around, you won't touch her because you would bruise her.” He said allowing you to stand on your own, you took a step back from both men. “I'm going to run an errand, see if the price for Y/N’s head has gotten any higher and you, Hidan.” Kakuzu paused to look Hidan directly in his partners eyes. “Are going to take her to the bathroom and clean up her face, then go back to your room and watch her and don't forget the ointment.” He instructed.
Waving his hand dismissively Hidan yawned. “Yeah yeah got it old man. I can handle a little girl.” He said.
Kakuzu gave a grunt as a response before turning to you. You could hardly maintain eye contact, something about his gaze was starting to affect you in some way. Was it the green and red giving him a more menacing look or was it all just his presents in the room. Just like how it was affecting you, you also couldn't tell what the reason was.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the grumpy man's gravely voice speaking to you. “And you will do as you're told and not attempt to run off, I don't need to come back to your ass beaten up by Hidan.” He warned.
“I promise I’ll only beat her ass if she asks me too.” Hidan laughed at his own joke.
You sent Kakuzu a worried look, he sent you a short shrug before opening and leaving the sliding door open for you two to go to the washroom.
“Well let's go princess.” Hidan called for you as he too walked out the door but turned the opposite direction as his partner. “Let's get you cleaned up.”
You hesitated a moment before reluctantly following after the man. Down the hall and around the corner you stood before the doors contemplating just running and seeing how that ended up. “We?l get going, I don't feel like waiting all evening.” He urged you.
You walked into the bathroom and noticed Hidan followed you in behind you. You turned and put your arms out in front of you, stopping him from walking any farther. “What are you doing here? Can’t I even use the bathroom by myself?!” You shouted.
Hidden let out a low laugh. “Hey, babe I'm just here to make sure you don't run away.” He shrugged his shoulders.
You lowered your arms to your sides and frowned up at him. “Get out.” you said simply.
He cocked a brow at you. “What was that little meat? Couldn't hear you from down there.” He teased, bending down just a bit and turning his head to the side to hear you better.
That's when you had an idea, if he hurt you and left a mark then you'd have more time to figure out how to get away from the two brutes. You sucked in a quick breath, balled your hand into a fist and swung at Hidan face as hard as you could. You regretted that decision as soon as the throbbing in your hand started, it felt like you had broken your entire hand on his face. You held your aching hand in the other and glanced at the white haired devil to see if you managed to achieve your goal in pissing him off. He was holding his face and staring blankly at the wall beside him. He slowly dropped his hand and turned his haad back to face you. Blood was running from his nose and down his chin and his signature grin was spreading across his face.
You looked at him with wide eyes, he liked it… He enjoyed you hitting him.
“That almost hurt, little girl.” Hidan growled and wiped the blood on the back of his hand then took a step towards you, you backed up a step and his grin grew wider. In a moment he was standing in front of you and pushing your back into the sink. His right hand came up to snake his lanky fingers around your neck just enough so you could still breath while his other hand held your hip in place. “Are you trying to get hurt, Or are you trying to turn me on?” He said, voice husky.
You couldn't think of words, mind frazzled by the man. You blinked blankley up at him trying to think of how to tell him off. He chuckled and slid a knee between your legs, pressing it into your core. The action caused a breathy gasp to leave your lips and Hiden to chuckle. The hand around your throat moves to cradle the back of your head so Hidan has room to push his face into your neck and inhale your scent deeply.
You shivered at the sensation, you wanted to push him away but your body was frozen in place. You yelped when he nipped your neck softly before gently kissing the same spot. “Hidan, what are you doing?” you asked breathlessly.
He looked up from the crook of your neck with dark eyes. “I'm being gentle with you, treating you like the sweet princess you are.” He kisses your jaw near your chin before sticking his tongue out and licking along your curves to the spot below your ear, he sucking the soft skin between his lips.
Your hands came up to hold onto his cloak to keep steady. You grit your teeth in an attempt to keep quiet but it didn’t stop the moan that escaped you when he repeated the action with more aggression and teeth. You struggled against him but with his thigh between your legs and rubbing against your now tingling pussy your brain was starting to get foggy fast.
“Hidan~” you whine, pushing against him. “Stop Hidan, I want to clean my face, get out.” you said, bringing him back to the task at hand.
He pulled his head from your sensitive skin and looked down at you. ”We need to get you new clothes.” He remarked out of nowhere.
You looked down at yourself. Your shirt and pants were dirty and there were small tares and holes everywhere from trying to run away from the bounty hunter pair. “Then get me clothes but right now get out! You can watch me from outside.” You demanded, giving him another shove.
“Yeah yeah fine whatever.” He said dramatically pulling away from you and walking to the door. He turned back around before exiting. “Be a good girl and make it quick.” He said cheerfully before disappearing into the hallway. You bet with his perverted ear to the door too.
Too be continued~

Something that occurs to me is during GOTG Vol 3, Rocket is likely close to the end of his lifespan as it is.  While it can be argued that he may have an extended lifespan due to space technology, space medicine being better, his enhancements ect, we can see that he’s emotionally burned out, he’s shown some age in the wiriness his fur has been getting, some more white hair around his muzzle, looking more worse for wear and ragged.  He’s been with the Guardians for 12 years now (minus 5 years of the blip), that’s pretty old for a raccoon, and we don’t know how old he is during the first movie, old enough to commit lots of crime and escape lots of prisons, at least, and domestic Raccoons usually don’t live much longer than 20 years-- so we can only guess what this means for him; or if it’s relevant because again, we don’t know his age.
At the beginning of the movie you feel his depression, feel he’s not satisfied with how things are, the way he sings, what words he emphasizes from the lyrics, the way he interacts with others.  He’s just there.  His friends and duties are a distraction to him and the only thing likely holding him together at this point, because even with everything he thought he might want, he’s still depressed.  When he nearly passes on, he’s ready.  He wants to be with his friends, he doesn’t think he has anything holding him back-- but when he does come back, he realizes his friends really do genuinely care about him.  They pulled through in what must have felt like a hopeless situation, and there they are, holding him, there as the family he always needed, giving him all the strength he needed to face his own demons.
EDIT: so maybe there is some backtracking due on this, according to some post I saw Rocket was apparently in his 20s in vol 1 already, so that'd put him in his 30s for vol 3. We still don't know how long he's supposed to live but we can say it doesn't seem to be in line with average raccoons.

Arkhelios Adventures
Tumblr media
Adam sat at the piano, mindlessly playing any song he could remember. He wasn't in the mood to learn a new song or scale, just looking for some familiar comfort.
His physical wounds were healing quickly, though his emotional wounds continued to fester. Adam had rejoined classes with his peers. It wouldn't have been so bad if the other students weren't constantly staring at him with pity. He had probably lost the boyfriend he had paraded around the school, announcing their intentions to marry. His eyes seemed to be healing, but the last of the scarring refused to leave, changing his appearance forever. He almost always felt cold, even in the harsh sunlight or next to a roaring fire. Adam had changed, and now everyone felt sorry for him.
The last thing that Adam needed was the pity of the entire school. Everyone seemed to have an opinion about his relationship with Theo that he didn't want to hear. The rumour mill had decided that Theo wasn't ever coming back, that he was incarcerated somewhere a million miles away or that Theo was living happily in the Void with a full blooded demon, completely abandoning the guy he'd almost killed. Adam never corrected any of these rumours, extending their lifespan. Why bother correcting people when Adam didn't know the truth anymore than they did? What did it even matter in the end? Theo wasn't here, and Adam couldn't bear to see his own reflection, let alone talk to Theo about it. He was stuck in limbo, waiting for something to make him feel again. Nothing in the school felt like it could shake the dead feeling squeezing his chest.
Tumblr media
Most of the times that he wasn't in class, Adam would sit on the stairs that he and Theo had liked to sit on and stare blankly ahead. The view overlooked the end of Pleasantview and the entirety of Crystal Cove and Theo had loved to stare out at the endless green. Growing up in a tiny desert made him consider even the most mundane views of nature with awe. Truthfully, Adam had always taken the beauty of Pleasantview and Crystal Cove for granted. Sitting with Theo had been like seeing the same old hills and trees for the first time, every time. They would often sneak out at night to watch the stars and cuddle under the majesty of the natural world. Ever since Theo left, nothing had looked the same. Everything was just grey and dull.
Tumblr media
"I see what you mean, Ewan. How long has he been like this?"
Ewan G Maricourt and Alicia Toyonaga watched Adam through a window, helpless to change his condition. Alicia had been assigned as an ambassador to the Arkhelios coven, so she had seemed like the perfect candidate to guide Ewan's son past this incident with an Arkhelian boy. Alicia didn't really care for her assignment, but it was better than living in Strangetown with her royal father in law. Ewan had asked her for tips on dealing with the Bellamy family and she'd only laughed.
"At least a few weeks now," Ewan answered solemnly. "He's seen doctors and healers and nothing ever changes."
"Well, of course not!" Alicia exclaimed, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "He's grieving. You can't make a potion for that and call it done. He needs time to process what happened."
"It's been months since the accident. He's safe here with us. Hasn't it been long enough already? I just want him to be happy again."
Alicia sighed.
"Well, obviously you want him to be happy, but you can't rush it. Has he talked to Theo yet? Roman's just starting to calm down in public, so I gather that he must have talked to Theo recently. He keeps going on about a birthday party that Theo's going to come home for. Maybe Adam could attend this party? It's somewhere private, but with capable magic users should something go wrong. It sounds perfect. At least according to the gossip around town. Arkhelios really is the most tedious place."
"Theo won't be there," Ewan replied. "I've gotten his latest progress report, and it's not what we hoped it would be. He's too unstable to risk in a crowd like that, especially if Adam is there. Can you imagine if something Theo does accidentally triggers the same reaction as before? I'm not risking my son's life so he can talk to his boyfriend in a crowded room filled with potential innocent bystanders. The Sovereign agrees."
"Well, you can tell his parents that," Alicia scoffed. "I'm not getting involved with the Bellamys and their drama. it's bad enough having to endure Wanda every day. Why is the boy not meeting the requirements? I thought he was some kind of prodigy?"
"A prodigy in chaos only," Ewan sighed. "From what I gather, it's all very complicated. You don't know how many reports I've gotten over the last few months with the word 'curse' repeated through them. I don't fully understand the problem, but my knowledge of demonic magic is rather limited. From what I do understand, young Theo has an inert curse that gets summoned to him when he tries to use magic. The Sovereign thought that detaching it from Theo would protect him, but he hasn't found a way to use magic without bringing it right back to him again. Apparently, they're trying to reattach it to him for some reason and it's much too delicate a process to let him return home. If something went wrong, the results could be disastrous."
"Reattach? Like surgically?"
"I have no idea. Who knows with demons? I'd assume it would be some kind of ceremony or series of spells, but I don't know the way of demons or blood magic. My mother would have hit the roof if I studied any of that in school."
"Adam will feel isolated from Theo if he has no idea of what's happening with Theo," Alicia pointed out. "This whole thing he's experiencing isn't going to get any better if he hasn't talked to Theo since the accident and Theo comes back completely changed magically."
"What am I supposed to do then? You tell me that I need to give Adam closure, but I don't have the clearance to bring Theo here even if it was safe. If he's getting calls to his parents, that's the first I'm hearing about it. They won't grant one to the person Theo could still injure through their connection, no matter what I say. I can't share these notes with Adam, even if it would help, without failing to uphold my oath as head of the coven."
"Then all we can do for Adam is support him and give him the space to grieve. I'm sorry, but I don't see any other way. Has he spoken with a counselor about this? That might help speed things up."
Ewan shook his head.
"I tried to get him to see the school counselor, but apparently, he just spent the hour in silence, staring at the wall. He won't see anyone else and I can't make him talk about his feelings. Even Remy seems to have hit a wall with him and she's the only one to have gotten close. I just want to see Adam want to live again."
Tumblr media
"Maybe a change of scenery would help," Alicia suggested. "We could take him in Arkhelios, or if that's too painful, send him to Strangetown with his mother."
"No, that won't happen," Ewan quickly replied. "The last thing he needs is to let his mother stomp all over him. I may not be the most sensitive parent, but Edana will only make things worse." He paused for a moment, choosing his words carefully. "I understand the pain the Bellamys must feel, because I feel the same way at the thought of sending Adam away. He's my child. I need to be here for him where he's comfortable and safe. To not know when I could see him again would be agony and I won't let the pain the Bellamys are feeling now be in vain. Theo will return here when it is safe for him to do so."
"And Adam?"
Ewan groaned, unable to see an easy solution.
"I don't know. Maybe Miruna can take him in at the palace on weekends. It's not too far away and it's a decent change of pace."
"Not bad," Alicia agreed. "A change in roommates might help as well."
Tumblr media
"This is the worst thing to happen all week. I can't believe I have a share a room with my little brother. We haven't had to share a room since we were kids. It's so unfair. My old roommate was almost never in the room and knew when to be discreet. You never leave your room."
Remy was about as excited to share a room with her brother as Adam, though she tried to downplay it after seeing the look on his face. The last thing she wanted was for Adam to feel resented. At least he didn't have a boyfriend to try to sneak into their room. Adam wasn't going to fight for the bedroom if all he was doing was moping. He could still do that downstairs.
Tumblr media
"So, which bed do you want? I'm rather partial to the one by the window, but you can choose."
Adam lifted his head, only to see pieces of Void attach to his twin. She, like everyone else, seemed to be oblivious to what Adam could see. He'd stopped taking the many potions prescribed to him, but still the unsettling images of the Void remained. At this point, he just assumed that this would be his new normal. He'd forever be the unsettling prophet just like Theo's little sister. Rien seemed to enjoy her eerie reputation, but it wasn't how Adam wanted to live. At least he never heard from the "spirits" Rien spoke to. Maybe this oddity could be corrected in time.
What did he tell his sister? "Hey, I noticed that you were glowing various shades of pink all of a sudden. Are you feeling okay?"
Tumblr media
"You can have whatever bed you want, Rem. I don't have anyone to share mine with. It doesn't matter."
"Adam, I can find you a hook up, you just need to let me know," Remy insisted. "Are you done with Theo? I have a few people who might want to date you. If you just want a meaningless booty call, I can name two guys who would respond, no strings attached."
"Thanks, Rem. I'm good though. I'm dating Theo and he's going to come home and we're going to be happy again. Unless...what if he comes back different? What if I don't like how Theo is when he's stable? What if he's cheating on me wherever he is? I wish I could talk to him."
"Look, just try one date with someone," Remy urged. "Anyone. It doesn't even have to be a date. You could just go for coffee with a sexy friend. Get some experience so that you do know what you want when Theo comes back."
"I thought you were Team Theo," Adam accused. "All you've said since he's left is that he loves me and to follow my feelings for him."
"Adam, you have the social life of a rock. You spend all day crying or moping and it's gotten to the point that Dad made us roommates and wants Miruna to babysit your walking corpse. Of course I know that Theo loved you when he left and he's a great guy, but you're miserable. You're fourteen for God's sake, go find some way to be happy. Your star-crossed love isn't the center of the universe. Go find a way to be happy and I'll help you deal with Theo when he comes back...or deal with rebound guy if you choose Brand New Theo again. Just get out of this school for ten minutes, that's all I ask."
Tumblr media
"You're right," Adam sighed, giving up on the conversation so that he could return to moping. "I have no social life. My boyfriend almost killed me. My body doesn't work the same way as it did before the accident. I haven't seen Theo in months. Thank you for the reminder. If you don't mind, I think I'm going to try to sleep."
Adam curled onto his new bed, pulling the covers over him to block out the world. Beside him, Remy fumed.
"Adam, this is my room too. It's only 7:30 pm. Why don't you go downstairs to mope? I had plans for tonight and it would really help if you were somewhere else, not being a buzzkill."
"You go downstairs," Adam mumbled from under his blankets. "I don't need to see you reminding me of everything I've lost with Theo. My class work is finished and I have nowhere to be until classes tomorrow morning. It's perfectly fine for me to go to bed early, no matter how that cramps your style."
"I'll tell Dad," Remy threatened, sounding just like she had when they were kids.
"Tell him what? That you won't let me sleep because you want to party in our shared room?"
"I'll tell him that you're too depressed and you're making me depressed too. That I need my own space to clear your psychic negativity."
"That doesn't make any sense," Adam replied, peeking out of his blankets to childishly stick his tongue out at his sister.
"Made you look," Remy laughed, pointing at her brother's exposed head. "It's way too easy to manipulate you."
Adam groaned and retreated once again into his blankets.
"You're the worst, Rem," he grumbled. "You don't understand my problems at all. It's not a game."
"Never said it was," Remy replied happily. "I'm going to go hang out with actual people, but I'll be back to bother you later. I'll bring you a snack, since you ate pretty much nothing at dinner. See ya later, roomie!"
Remy skipped out the door, leaving Adam alone once again in his misery. It wasn't like he was starving himself or anything, food just didn't seem appealing to Adam. Nothing did. If only Theo was there to talk things through with. He wasn't just his boyfriend, Theo had been his best friend since they were six years old. Adam had some other friends, but no one like Theo. Except...now he might not have Theo at all anymore. He may not even want Theo to come back. He hadn't decided yet. His life would hang in limbo until he could talk to his boyfriend and see how they could possibly move past this.
Until that time, Adam buried himself deeper into his blankets, praying that Remy had just been joking with the threat of her return.

This will contain spoilers, everyone!
(Edit: this was a preliminary attempt to think about timeline, so whilst I will let this stand, I'm not as happy with it as I'd like. This post discusses the one massive thing I overlooked, and is something I'm more confident in. So, regard this as like, an idea about mutation and magic, and not an actual analysis. It's an idea, a concept. Not proper analysis. Although, the idea of mutation and magic extending their lives has much potential. Just...this is not a Take Take, just an exploration)
On the topic of a timeline with Burrow's End, I think is a lot of interesting readings to approach it with. Due to this all being collaborative, timelines can be tricky to navigate, but also fun. Kenji's death is a little tricky, but Geoffrey and Tula's makes sense (at least to me). One of the ways in which it can, with regards to the kids, is the idea that they're slowly evolving to have longer lifespans. Specifically, in regards to Tula and Viola, they would be probably around the mid-life point, yet they act more like 30-40 instead of 50+. This, then, can be used to understand that their lives are slowly extending, where their life phases hit at different times than previous generations.
This is actually sort-of touched upon, with Tula's remark about "Old Big Walmer". In normal stoat terms, he would be much older than Tula, but as Aabria remarks, they're only a few litters apart, and they're not really that far apart in age. This little throw-away gag can, in fact, be the key to solve a little of the age puzzle. Had they been normal, un-evolved stoats, Walmer would've been much older than Tula. But, as they're slowly evolving and becoming much more like humans, they're also getting longer lives. What before may have felt like a decade in difference between two stoats several litters apart, now become less than half of that, maybe. Tula uses terms she grew up with, both to attempt to throw off her mother's attempts at meddling, and as a way to express her own distaste at the idea. Yet, they're not that far apart, she's only expressing ideas that she's heard from other, older stoats.
With this concept, therefore, I think that's what's going on with Lila and Jaysohn. The time of year they're in is slightly debatable, as we never got the actual month, but from Tula's knowledge, it was closer to winter at the start of the story. I suspect, if we're going to stretch the concept a little further (and depending on where the story takes place), we can say they're in the middle of Autumn, perhaps September-October if we're stretching it. Tula alludes to Geoffrey dying in Winter, either early or middle the season. In a rough estimation, if we're taking Aabria's narration of "knowing their dad only half their life" literally, the kids would be around 20 months, double that of normal stoat maturity. However, if we keep the idea of their lifespan being extended, that would extend the time between milestones as well. This could keep the kids still as kids, whilst also keeping to a somewhat coherent timeline.
It would also make sense why none of the others note this weird lack of maturity or age in the kids, because they themselves haven't noticed the change either. They're also having their lifetime extended, which makes it natural for them to not react all that much to such a change. The fact Lila and Jaysohn grew up so slow doesn't really matter, does it, when everything else is thrown into chaos with the death of Geoffrey and who's supposed to lead the Warren. Sure, the kids are being toddlers for way longer than previous generations, but that's just because Tula's fussing over them! (It could also be a symptom of Tula's magic leaking into her kids, extending their lives without anybody noticing. Food for thought)
It can also just be a trait with Ava's bloodline, stemming from the fact that we know she was born outside of the Red Warren, possibly having been exposed to different radiation. We don't know if the others came with Ava and her family, of came and joined them over time. It can also be from when Ava was hit with further radiation the day Kenji disappeared, and that has leaked into her family as well. They are, after all, not normal stoats, and there is so much radiation and magic going on within these stoats that it could be anything affecting them.
I suspect it's evolution and magic causing this trickery in age, meaning that they're all living for much longer than any natural stoat. They're evolving, becoming stronger, smarter. Of course they'll live longer.
It also implies that Ava might not be as old as she appears, but she has decided to be an old lady in her 60-70s, and she will make everyone believe she is closer to 100 just so they will underestimate her. Or let her get away with shenanigans. Nobody can call her out, after all, she's one of the oldest of them.
It does, however, mean for ten or more months, Tula has been a living undead. Half of her kids' life she has been something else. Viola saw Tula change, and thought it was only loss and motherhood that did that. But instead, it was Tula's own death that changed her whole worldview. Everything else affected it, yes, but her death was what tired her out as much as it did. She never got that peace, not that rest, that she longed for. She couldn't, not with her duty. Of course she feels like a fraud by giving Viola advice; hers cannot be compared to someone who's still alive.
It's just interesting to think about, how what may seem confusing at first, makes a little more sense when you take magic and radiation into consideration. Also how horrifying it must be to realise you age differently than your peers due to something in you making you different. Something making you more.

Not to be overly morbid, but do yall ever think about suicide in prythian? Personally, i think killing yourself would be pretty common. I mean, it has to be given how few old people seem to exist in this world even though fae (or atleast high-fae) seem to insanely powerful and difficult to kill
And I dont think its because living in prythian sucks THAT much or even because being immortal is THAT bad, i mean arguably the biggest issue with immortality would be to watch all your loved ones die and thats not something that sjm's fae have to deal with. I think its moreso a thing of people just kinda getting tired of living after a few centuries and being like "welp. ive experienced pretty much everything, time to explore the world beyond" yknow. Thats why I think Velaris would have a pretty high suicide rate, because if youre stuck in a city thats presumably completely stagnant and never changes because its already perfect, youre going to run out of new enjoyable things to do wayyyy more quickly and get tired of your existence. It would also explain how this city full of immortals that can never leave but can reproduce hasnt already collapsed under the weight of overpopulation after over 5000 years
One idea that i like because it could make for some poignant commentary is that suicide rates are really high among faeries because theyre a lot more likely to live in poverty and its really hard to escape poverty and its really fucking miserable so after a few decades most of them decide they dont wanna live like that, and its gotten to the point where the high fae think they just naturally have shorter lifespans for some biological reason when they can actually live just as long as high fae, its just that they take poison or some shit to die in their sleep or something idk. Maybe thats a little very dark for acotar, but then again, sjm is constantly throwing around domestic violence and abuse and rape in this series so
I think suicide rates among high lords would be pretty high as well because I imagine their lives are pretty monotonous and tiring because of their responsibilities and because its not like they can leave prythian for an extended period of time to experience some new things or have some fun adventures, theyre tied to their court geographically. And god, can you imagine what would happen if theres a crisis. Yknow how a while ago the UK went through like 5 prime ministers in two weeks because of some bullshit that was happening? Imagine that but its just all these newly-chosen high lords killing themselves because they cant handle their court for some reason. I actually have a theory that thats what happened in the night court because theres this weird little throaway line where they say like, Mor's family used to be the ruling family but then the highlord power somehow got transferred to Rhys' family and its been driving me insane because WHAT do mean by that??? So basically, I think there was a time when Mor's highlord-chosen ancestors kept killing themselves for one reason or another, none of them wanted to be highlord and the magic of the land kept reaching out further and further until it landed on like, Rhysand's great-granddad who was only distantly related to Mor's ancestors and the ruling line just continued from there
Anyway, Id like to end this post on a more positive note and talk about the demographic that I think is the least likely to kill themselves, and thats the youngest children of noble families with multiple children. As ive said, im mostly basing this off of any given fae's ability to have a lot of new experiences to keep their lives from becoming monotonous and tiresome (combined with their material circumstances) and I think the youngest children of nobles hit the sweet spot of being pretty wealthy and not needing to do a lot of hard labour that would take up their time while also not being tied down by responsibilities that would force them to stay in one place. (Unless its a family of all girls and the youngest is their only son ig because as of acomaf, prythian is super patriarchal but i try not to think abt that ngl)

Some things I would've loved to see in early rwby (beacon volumes):
Extended staff at beacon with 1 or 2 of them being long retired huntsmen who far outlived the expected lifespan of huntsmen. The respect and vitriol they would receive from those around them who either marveled at their skill or believed them cowards who survived on their fear.
This extended staff also gives us insight into just how small the circle of people is that Ozpin actually keeps in the loop because most of the faculty I doubt would be aware of everything going on with Oz or at Beacon.
Weiss having a rivalry with Pyrrha (albeit one sided on Weiss' end because pyrrha never has to sweat) and one other student as they all compete for top scores in their class.
A map of the kingdom to give us a better layout and understanding of the distance between places and how long it would take to travel them.
Weiss and Yang having pretty big friend circles even if Weiss' are more superficial, so that when we see them compared to Ruby and Blake we get a real understanding of the difference in their social abilities. I don't need to know all the friends, maybe just some general comments about Weiss and Yang always being a bit busy or unavailable due to prior engagements.
Nora, Ren, and Pyrrha content that didn't just revolve around Jaune in early seasons. These could've been actual scenes or some cuts to us seeing the characters hanging out in town during a montage or something. Just making them feel more tied to the school and the kingdom.
The parents having a bit more of a presence in their lives; either through letters, messages, video calls, or school visits. Something that gives us an idea in the differences between the family dynamics of each character. That way when we finally see Weiss actively avoid speaking with her family/another character not even bother trying we can start piecing things together.
Mentions in passing of students dying on missions or going missing. This one is more bleak but it would help set things up more to understand the dangers and build up to Hazel in a way.
A history/geography class moment to help us as viewers understand the current government system in at least the kingdom of Vale and what it originated from.
For extra non main show stuff: I would've loved if they made world of remnant content for how marriages/death rituals/religion worked within remnant.
This is all from things that would fit into an unchanged canon, though there are things I'd add in to the canon as I've changed it.

MASTERLIST | AO3
Chapter 1:
“I’ve already taught her everything she needs to know about the Miraculi.” Jason snapped his attention from his books to Ra’s guest’s voice. When did they get here? “But combat…I could only think of you to train her…Brother.“ This was where Jason finally raised his head to look at the guests for the first time since he heard they had arrived.
Or at least, one of them.
The shorter of the two men had to be his mentor’s guest, if judging by the blue monk-like attire he had on under his red shawl.
Ever since Ra’s announced some important guests coming to visit a week ago, the entire place was made to make the place presentable and more…comfortable.
More fauna was added around the place, more shrubbery and small nooks of rest scattered the place. Although Jason wasn’t fond of the new flowers added to the barracks, he found out he quite enjoyed the little spot he found near his room.
A nice zen place with just a few shrubs and a boulder whose view was that of the ocean.
As for the odd choice of decor, Jason found himself hating the choice of reds and gold accenting the League’s monochrome scheme.  Not to mention the motif of the zodiac constantly present at the banquet hall and every hall he walked.
Aside from that, much didn’t change in Jason’s routine, though he didn’t fail to notice the way Ra’s began to act.
He was stricter with the League members, gave Talia more work to do, nitpicked at every little thing - it was starting to get on Jason’s nerves.
Maybe it was because Ra’s was constantly reminding him to be practically invisible once the guests came. Or rather, to never talk to their guests unless asked.
That everything had to be perfect.
So when the guests appeared at the library while Jason was there during his free time, he knew better than to greet Ra’s or to even go near him and his guests.
He had decided to retreat further into the library, deciding to go to the upper level and read a bit more of the Art of War.
But he didn’t expect to hear that of all things.
“If that was all you wanted from me, you could’ve easily-“
“I don’t have much time left.” The shorter man interjected. “You, of all people, should know that the Miraculi only extends your lifespan by a few hundreds of years, not grant immortality…” The shorter man looked at Ra’s with a somber look on his face. “Brother…I only have a few years to live and I can’t just leave my successor on her own.”
“Fu. You know, you can easily-“ Fu shook his head.
“I know better than to mess with your creations, even as ambitious and beneficial you claim them to be. After all, nothing good could ever come out of something born out of raw chaos. There’s a reason why the elders never chose you to-“
“There’s a reason they are now dead, Brother.” Ra’s seethed. “They never wanted to use the Miraculi to their full extent. To their true potential. I simply-“
“It’s bad to talk ill about the dead.” Fu interjected. “Especially in front of a child.” Ra’s huffed, knowing that his brother was referring to their earlier conversation in front of his successor.
“Child? Your successor is about the same age as my latest student. And he’s already seen more death than life in his 15 years of living.
In other words, they’re both old enough to comprehend the reality of life. Of changing to survive and if not, die in the process of protecting old and useless ideologies.” Ra’s argued, causing Fu to sigh. “Or tell me, am I wrong, brother of mine? Or is wanting me to teach your successor not your true motive for this announced visit?”
Despite the various centuries that have passed, it seemed like his brother never changed.
“You are correct as always, Ra’s. Change is the only way we can survive these chaotic times.” Fu responded.
“Glad to see we are on the same page.” Jason watched as Ra’s let out a huff. “I know you’re there, Jason. Come now. It’s rude to keep a guest waiting.”
Without another word, Jason jumped off the ledge, landing next to Ra’s with a soft thud. “Fu, this is the student I was talking about. Jason, met our guest, Wang Fu.”
While Jason wanted to ask whether or not they truly were siblings, he simply bowed, watching as Fu frowned upon seeing him.
“He oozes of the Lazarus’ water.” Fu furrowed his brows and looked at Ra’s with narrowed eyes. “What have you done to the boy?”
“Saved him.” Ra’s simply answered, deciding to walk ahead. “Now, let’s go see how your protege is doing, shall we?”
Jason didn’t quite remember what exactly happened, as in, how the conversation went from talking about education to Jason having to spar with Fu’s student, but it happened. So here he was, starting to get out of breath as he looked at his opponent beneath him.
“Seems like I got my hopes up too high.” Jason found himself saying as he knocked down the girl in front of him for the umpteenth time as she attempted to get back up. “Is this really the best you’ve got?”
After hearing Fu’s praises about his student being a quick learner and already mastering some Guardian martial arts, Ra’s found it appropriate to put said teachings to the test.
“That is enough!” Fu’s voice roared within the training hall’s walls, Jason smirking as he left the bruised girl on the floor, her lip busted from their sparring, dried blood caking her lip. The bruises on her cheekbone and jaw were finally starting to bloom. “How was this a friendly-“
“Friendly doesn’t necessarily mean soft, dear brother. Or did you forget the torture they used to put us through as children?” Ra’s reminded.
Jason didn’t know what Ra’s meant by that, reveling in the praise he gave him, a small pat on his back.
“Is this-“ Fu took a deep breath, “-is this the type of training you’re going to place-“
“Of course.” Ra’s said, Jason standing by his side, a smile replacing his grin. “If you’re saying your protege is as intelligent as you say she is, then that means she should be able to catch up with the rest of my students. Wouldn’t you agree?”
Fu remained silent, rushing to his student’s side, inspecting her bruises. “Furthermore, she can’t continue to be coddled if you want her to grow as a Guardian. You should already know the consequences of-”
“You think I don’t know that already? Don’t you think that’s the very reason why I came here in the first place? To prevent her from suffering the same fate we did when we were younger?”
The two men stared at each other, the tension thick and starting to become suffocating.
“Master…Fu.” The girl managed to slur out.
“Save your energy Marinette,” Master Fu hushed, looking at Ra’s. “Where is your nearest medical bay?”
-
“I see you’re finally awake.” Marinette blinked a few times before realizing where she was.
Oh right. She wasn’t in their little shop in China. They were at her mentor’s supposed brother’s…establishment? Organization? Clan?
She could remember the tour of the place and then separating from Master Fu to have some lunch before having to fight Ra’s latest pupil…who she lost to…
“How long was I out?” She asked, fighting off the aching throbbing around her body, not failing to notice the remains of magic lingering behind.
Was she injured so badly that Fu had to heal them using the Ladybug?
“Only a couple of hours.” Fu managed to answer, Marinette humming in response. “Marinette.” She turned to look at him. “I’m leaving you here, to stay with my brother.” Master Fu calmly said.
“Wh-what?” Marinette quietly asked, processing the words that just came out of her master’s mouth. Maybe it was because she had recently woken up, or perhaps her body was starting to finally feel the consequences of the spar from earlier despite the magical assistance. “Like, just for today?”
“As in you will be staying here by yourself until-”
“Why?” Marinette cut off, wincing as a pang of pain shot up her arm as she used it to sit up.
“I know, it’s a bit to process, but here, here you will get the opportunity to grow. To widen your view of combat and defense from people who have years of experience in the field.”
“But why should I stay just for that? If anything, we can always come here together during the week. The walk here isn’t bad- it’s just a few hours from-”
“Marinette. Travel isn’t the problem. Nor is the place. It is time.”
“But Master Fu, if it's time, then we can simply use the Horse to get here-”
“Marinette. I can no longer be with you as you continue to-”
“No.”
“Marinette. I can’t be a hurdle in your-”
“No.”
“Marinette,” Fu softly said, Marinette feeling her eyes begin to sting. “I have to go. It’s for your own good and the good of-”
“Master Fu, please! Please don’t leave me here!” Marinette begged, grabbing hold of her teacher’s shawl, tears brimming her eyes.
“Marinette,” Jason heard Fu softly say, the guilt in his chest becoming heavier.
He shouldn’t have come, but…he had.
Ever since Ra’s told him to go back to his room, Jason was left with nothing but the mixed emotions of his spar with Marinette.
While a part of him was soaring over being complimented by his mentor, guilt began to gnaw at him upon seeing how Fu worried over his student.
How it reminded him of someone he once knew. How that person reacted the same way whenever he got hurt. Someone who he couldn’t quite remember how he looked nor how he sounded, but Jason just knew was a kind person.
A person who he was taken away from…
With no other option left, but to check on the girl, Jason had made his way to try and apologize to the girl, but found himself walking into…whatever this was…
He knew better than to actually go inside the medical bay, so he stood by the entrance.
“Please Master Fu, you can’t leave me here! You can’t! There’s still things you have to teach me!”
“Marinette,” Jason heard him take a deep breath. “There’s nothing left for me to teach you.”
“No,” she quietly said, “no, there has to be- there has to be something left. Something, anything!”
“Marinette, you’ve already learned everything there is to the grimoire, about the Miraculi themselves, about the Guardian language, martial arts…I have nothing left-”
“No!” Marinette yelled, feeling her throat starting to close up. “No!”
“I’m sorry.” Fu said, attempting to get up from his seat beside her cot.
“Don’t say that Master Fu!” She pleaded, gripping onto him for dear life. “Please, dont-”
“Sisylarap.” Marinette felt as her body went numb, her hand slipping from Fu’s shawl as he stepped away from her, watching as he glanced at her with unclouded eyes, his already small back turning smaller and the lump in her throat growing larger. “Take care, qiān jīn (thousand gold, darling daughter).”
That was what finally set her loose.
“Yé yé (Grandfather)!” She screamed. “Yé yé! Don’t go! Yé yé!”
Jason bit down hard on his tongue to try and stop the tears threatening to fall, to prevent himself from letting out the scream whirling in his chest as he continued to hear Marinette scream after her teacher, after the person whom she saw as a grandfather, hell, maybe even a father.
“Jason.” Wang Fu spoke up, causing Jason to jump, Fu giving him a small smile upon seeing the unshed tears in his eyes. “Please, take care of Marinette.”
Jason couldn’t say a word in response as Fu placed a carefully wrapped red box in his hands, looking at Jason with tears trailing down his face. “Promise me you will look after her, okay?”
“How do you I would-”
“While I know you grew up in this place, there’s still something in your heart that still makes you more human than them.” Fu told him as he pointed a finger at Jason’s chest, more specifically his heart. “Make sure they never take that away from you.”
With that, Jason watched as the old man bowed and left, never to be seen again.
He looked down at the box, a box no bigger than the palm of his hand with a tag that read
For my beloved pupil, congratulations on finishing your training.
I’ll always cherish the time we spent together, qiān jīn.

Hey! May I have a Yandere Strange Supreme oneshot? Strange is still in the stalking phase. Darling is sleeping and he decides to sneak in for a cuddle. Reader moves and he's scared he woke them up, but they just snuggle with him in their sleep. Strange absolutely melts cause he's so touch-starved 🥺💓
Hi! I’m so sorry this took so long, I was in a slump for a while. I freaking love this scenario so much 🥰 He’s so totally touch-starved baby boy doesn’t even remember the sensation of snuggling 😓
Warnings: Stalking, Soft!Yandere Behavior, Unintentional/Unaware Cuddling (does this count as a warning?) The behavior shown by Stephen here is completely unhealthy and should not be viewed as ideal for real life nor romantic in real life.
Word Count: 1075
If there’s one thing Stephen has plenty of, it’s time. Time to do nothing but watch over Ultron and Killmonger for all eternity. But it’s only fair. It might seem like a cruel fate, but Stephen thinks that he’s cemented his extended (frankly, let’s be real here, nearly immortal) lifespan to this. This atonement, to pay for destroying his universe for his selfish desires. It seemed as though he were doomed to live out this fate, nothing of any joy to accompany him during any of it.
But then came along you. You, with your bright smile and enchanting personality that rivals the stormiest of days. Now Stephen has never officially met you, not yet, at least, (he plans to introduce himself some day, but that time has not yet come), but he’s been watching you for a while now. A few times he’s even stayed in the same room with you, quite literally the fly on the wall. But he never came forth. Why would he, when he's entirely content (as of right now) merely watch you? Just the sight of you was enough to satisfy Stephen. You were both a distraction from the tedious task he’s been resigned to as well as a great recreation from said duty. He’s not sure how he first caught sight of you, when there were endless universes flying through the magic portal he conjured, but miraculously he did. And he has never looked back since.
Quite literally too. He never wants to take his eyes off of you, no matter the number of eyes the form he was in had, he didn’t want to take a single one off of you unless absolutely necessary. Even if he had to, he would find a way to keep at least one eye on you, his pride and joy in this grand multiverse.
Tonight- or was it day? It was impossible to tell in his universe- Stephen was once again observing you. (One could argue that it was also night time in Stephen’s universe since he was constantly peering into yours.) He saw you do your nightly routine before you climbed into bed. And after several minutes, you were fast asleep. Your breathing was steady and calm. Lying there, on your bed, with soft, pale moonlight gently caressing your form, in Stephen’s mind, you looked just like a royal. No, not a royal, something more… ethereal. He pondered over this for a moment before the answer came.
An angel. A regal angel, at that. You were his regal angel.
A mere glimpse of you was enough to take his breath away. And tonight that rang especially true. Maybe if he was a better man, he could be with you. He could be with you physically, not just spiritually. If he wasn’t such a monster, maybe he could be worthy of you. Of your sweet embrace. Of your compassionate reassurance.
His mind began to wander. What would it be like to talk to you? Would your voice be as lovely as it sounds from his universe? What would it be like to hold you? Or even, what would it be like to be held by you? These thoughts, along with a vivid reel of images showcasing said thoughts, swam through his head. Before he was fully aware of what he was doing, Stephen was already inside your room, having stepped through a portal he conjured. Just a few feet in front of him there you lay. A content, almost blank, expression on your face as you dreamed. Stephen, emboldened by your peaceful presence, quietly made his way over to you. The scent of you only encouraged Stephen more.
With movement as swift as a bunny and as gentle as a feather, Stephen was now in bed with you. Actually with you. Not some illusion he cast, nor some dream of his own. This was real, very much so.
It was just as Stepehn had always dreamed of. It was a type of magic that even he himself was unable to replicate on his own.
His arms were snaked around your waist, his head just beside yours. Seeing you up close granted him to see all these minor features of yours he could not pick up before. He devoured every new detail he discovered. As if you couldn’t be even more lovely, there you were again, proving the sorcerer wrong once again. Usually, he’d be very disappointed to be wrong, but for you he’ll make an exception. You kept solidifying your position as an angelic royal gracing him with your presence.
Just as Stephen was getting comfortable, you shifted. He froze. Did he wake you up? He held his breath, fearing the worst. You were gonna wake up, realize that someone was in bed with you, and scream. He was a fool to think that he could deserve anything as wonderful as this. That he could come even close to being worthy of someone like you. A monstrous entity such as himself deserves no such pity from the multiverse. In an existence as vast as this, there’s nothing one could truly hope for without ultimately being crushed by the soulless, contemptuously demeaning reality.
Stephen’s mind was plagued with these thoughts until suddenly, he felt your body shift; he felt you lean into him rather than recoil away. You… you were actually enjoying his touch. As if to dispel any more negative thoughts of his, you gave a sigh of content. The sound made Stephen freeze once again. This time, however, it was out of a happily surprised and shocked kind of frozen. How could someone like you treat a being like him so nicely?
By now you were completely wrapped up in Stephen’s arms with no hint of fear whatsoever on your face. It almost felt like the two of you were a couple. The thought made his heart swoon. He smiled. With his eyes closed, he once again imagined what life would be like by your side in a normal life. Hell, even with how he is now. If you were like this in your sleep, and if you truly were the person he thought you were based on how long he’s been watching you, then there was hardly a doubt in Stephen’s mind that being together wouldn’t work out.
Because if his darling can (subconsciously) recognize the good in him, then maybe he isn’t the monster he thought he was.

Ok so old man N!Juste's design is pretty bad. Mostly it's just kind of boring and lazy. Being charitable, they maybe were just trying to avoid an old white-haired man with facial hair looking too much like game Dracula, so they opted for a fuller style. Unfortunately it ended up looking glued on.
Tumblr media
It's admittedly very hard to sell new old man pussy in this franchise, when we have had this man serving us cunt for hundreds of years.
In addition, they seem to have kept his shirt as the main tie to his original design, but it backfires and makes it look like he's just been wearing the same shirt for decades(Esp when game Juste's outfit was so incredibley vibrant). Even N!Juste's eyes lack the hint of white lashes from the games, which now that he is old enough for white hair to seem expected, fails to communicate he's always had white hair, which in the game made him stand out (among other Belmont's at least).
So, to fix these issues, if I were to design an old man Juste, I would personally go in one of two directions:
Option one: If had to give Juste a beard, I'd want it to distinguish him as a character, and preserve the original intent of his white hair to communicate he's got magical abilities with visual shorthand. So I would go all in and give him a fucking awesome wizard beard.

I think he could slay the Myles Pinkley gender wizards look. This would be appropriately fantastic.
Unfortunately, N!Juste is not allowed to have nice things, which is why his current beard is likely only meant to communicate that he's a drunk and let himself go, similar to N!Trevor's stubble. Rocking wizard beard Juste could only exist, if you're trying to actually have a character be cool.
Option two: But admittedly, I personally wouldn't have given Juste a beard at all. I don't really think it would bring anything to his design, and imo I think some people give a character facial hair just to convey mature male-ness, and not much else. My personal idea for what an older Juste would look like, is probably something similar to Pope Sage (or his twin brother Altar Hakurei), from Lost Canvas.

"So there's this senior citizen..."
Admittedly, it's hard to tell exactly how old Sage is meant to look, when he's 270 and using magic to extend his lifespan. But he's a good example of an aging white-haired prettyboy type, in a shounen known for its beautiful young men. He is also a mentor character, who has specifically personally raised his hot-headed and brash student, and taught him everything he knows - which is mostly wicked goth death powers.

Cool old man and his even cooler son
Obviously, Sage is an unrelated character from his own property. But I feel like he's the best illustration of the sort of design archetype an older Juste could have been in. Maybe if nfcv had a better understanding of other Japanese media, and shounen anime in particular, they might have been able to figure out how to translate a character like Juste to animation better.
