Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I realized something about Nora and Qilby's chara designs: some people thought Nora's was too bland. And at first I thought the animators had given her a sober outfit to make her fights easier to animate. But in fact I realize that it's a depersonalization. Let me explain: we often say that the clothes we wear reflect our personality. But in this season, despite their pronounced personalities, the eliatrope people are acting for their mother's cause. And when they do, they act as if they were one and the same person.
Especially since, if you look closely, Nora and Qilby only wear one color, Nora's pink and Qilby's white. And in a way, both Nora and Qilby wear her colors, Qilby has the white color of her mother's skin and Nora has the pink color coming from her cheeks, which have a slightly pinkish tint, as well as her nose. Yugo is the only one to wear two colors, blue and orange, which also reflect the colors of the goddess. She and Yugo share the colors blue and orange: blue for his hat and her, for her hair, and orange for his top and her, for her necklace. Their outfits and colors don't reflect them, but they reflect the goddess. This means that the outfits worn by the eliatropes are a depersonalization; they act as one in the name of their mother and don't stand out. Because eliatrope people are all one.

thinking about how twilight and 50 shades of grey are the blueprints for writing toxic and abusive relationships, yet c//a manages to be worse than both of them and still have people defending it.

I know they changed it in the show so Annabeth saw Luke's betrayal and heard everything he said and probably that's going to change how she moves forward but actually it's really important that she believes he could still be good, and honestly I don't see a huge difference between Luke trying to kill Percy in the book and her having to nurse him back to health and hearing his story versus her being there for the betrayal and stepping in to keep Percy alive in that like in both she knows that Luke tried to kill him (but also now that he tried to convert him first, so clearly he didn't want to kill him and that's got to count for something right) but whatever that's not the point.
The point is I think they should start Luke reaching out to Annabeth earlier in the show than in the books. In the books, he just shows up once asking her to run away with him, but I think in the show he should send her a letter or an email or something. He should reach out and not try to convince her to join him or that she misunderstood what she saw, but to try to explain himself. He's not turning his back on her, he's trying to make a difference. The gods won't change, so he has to try to make it happen through other methods. He won't put her life at risk, he wants to save her and save everyone they knew from the pain they've both seen them go through. I just think if he reached out and reminded her of their connection and everything they've seen together, maybe the storyline of her nearly being tempted to join him in som and continuing to believe in him for the rest of it would make more sense. It probably needs more thought but I think they need to do something and I like the idea of him writing her a letter, trying to connect to her and nurture his humanity and childhood through their relationship.

I spent my day thinking about Baldur's Gate lore...again *sigh*
So, let's begin...
I see people talking about Ketheric having more children than just Isobel.
What I understood is that Malus, Gerringothe and Thisobald are his siblings, and he had only one child: Isobel.
I doubted this when Thisobald called him “Father Ketheric”, but it's probably just a title since he is head of his family ? Ketheric doesn't talk about other children, and I read nowhere informations about this. Added to this: we can’t really see it with Thisobald but him, Malus and Gerringothe are way more older than Isobel, they could be her uncles and aunt, but probably not her siblings. (That’s just my opinion and they're undead, so it's hard to judge. What is sure is that their relationship with Ketheric and Isobel is unclear.)
Also, I think it would have been weird for Ketheric to never talk about other children while his deep love for his family was proven many times, and it's what drove him through years of difficult life (and death), being a chew toy for Gods. (I mean…even Shar, a literal goddess, couldn’t erase the memories of his wife and daughter’s death…).
I would really like to know more about this story, firstly because I love reading lore (I WANT KNOWLEDGE, ANSWERS, GIMME EVERYTHING), and secondly because it would be useful to know for writing...👀
So what's your thoughts ?

ok can I just make a quick little observation ..... people don't see plants on the equal level as they see animals. Yes we do care about preserving rain forests because they make oxygen. and we do try to preserve plant species same as we do with animal species .... but for some reason I have the feeling a lot of people don't see plants as being "as alive" as animals are

Hmmmm 1 and 55? Mayhaps???
ayyyy another moot for the ask game party- here's your celebratory cookie: 🍪
1. do you daydream a lot before you write, or go for it as soon as the ideas strike?
ngl to you, i'm up in the clouds for a good chunk of time before i start writing- and that time is spent trying to get into the character's head
to be even more honest- i'm talking (well, it's more like a hushed mumble under my breath) out loud, testing out potential dialogue between two characters, seeing what works/which phrases would flow better, yadda yadda yadda
i'm also out here contemplating motive, physically trying to seep myself into their essence by miming their actions (ex. let's say 'Character X' rubs at their chest- i'm rubbing my chest too; this method sometimes helps me figure out how to describe things- like how soft/rough the touch is)
in my mind, i'm this guy:
Tumblr media
but in reality i'm probably staring blankly at my phone or something 😭
55. have you noticed any patterns in your fics? words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?
i make an effort to try not to be redundant- but i'm human so... shit happens lol
this immediately popped into my head when i saw this question: whenever i describe shock, i tend to defer to the tried and true classic: 'their eyes widened'- it always goes back to those dang eyes
conceptually speaking, i feel like i'm too literal at times and could benefit from attempting a more creative way to describe things. throw in a bit more pizazz, as any respected author would say lol
also, if there's one thing i got going for the characters in my fics, is that they're inside. four walls and a roof, just the way i like it
ask game

I have some starbucks gift cards I've never used (generic workplace/acquaintanceship gifts) cause I don't care much for their drinks but would it be good to use them now? My thought process is Starbucks has already gotten the money so I might as well get something from it, so its not just 100% profit for them

I get this is necessary but it also feels shady? Like...1 ya are splitting the party, 2) you leaving Tarvek with Gil to fight while Agatha and Marcellus are together? You can't like have army representatives in the empire come out and fight?
I'm waiting for like a second shoe to drop somehow

I really think that ghosts become the third type, not because, as the skull said, they wanted to live again. After all, it's unlikely that only Marissa, the skull and Ezekiel wanted to live, and the rest of the people who died would not want to come back to life. So I think when the skull and Ezekiel were alive they've been just as sensitive to the other side as Marissa and Lucy. Therefore, after death, they remained just as sensitive, but in relation to living .

there is so much wrong (entirely purposefully) about Yellowface and the way it’s character’s function—how much can you hate and envy everything about the world that the feeling of being praised and showered in accolades for something that isn’t your work gives you a feeling of accomplishment? How can you care to be a writer if you feel nothing but disappointment and hollow dread whenever you look at your own work? Why would you choose to continue doing that to yourself? Why not escape that and find something that treats you kinder?
