I saw an interesting post a while back that said “Capcom made us [Miles and Diego/Godot] only have like two(?) interactions because they knew we would be unstoppable with a brother dynamic” and tbh it stuck with me bc it was intriguing.
So yeah that potential brotherhood, but that Godot/Diego AU I made (that I still need a name for)
Also I bet Gregory Edgeworth would have smelled like a bit like coffee, and so Diego just reminds Miles of that comforting presence 😭 (the von Karma estate was a tea household, so he didn’t smell much coffee after DL-6 and didn’t realize how much he missed it/reminded him of his father)

Ooh idea: pigeon!Desmond again, but instead of a single immortal pigeon, he just reincarnates over and over again. But not in a ‘he lays the egg that will be the next Desmond’ way, just a ‘he dies and somewhere a new pigeon is born and voila Desmond!’ way. Altaïr would probably figure out that it was the same spirit/soul but I wonder how long it would take Ezio?
The original pigeon Desmond idea for those curious.
I’m so glad you specified ‘reborn as a random pigeon somewhere else’ because my brain immediately went ‘if not an egg, how about the new pigeon bursting out of the old pigeon’s chest ala chest burster lol’
For this one, we’ll have Desmond have the same age expectancy as a pigeon and be reborn as a chick somewhere else. This way, his ancestor will have the time to grieve over the death of their pigeon. When Desmond returns to them, enough time has passed that they wouldn’t mind having another dedicated messenger pigeon.
Altaïr would notice it early on because he grew up with Desmond. He’s used to Desmond’s habits and quirks as a pigeon. And the Levantine Brotherhood kept using messenger pigeons so Altaïr has been exposed to a lot of them. Desmond had always been strange compared to them and it showed. Would he realize it as soon as they met? No. It’ll take him a couple of weeks. The most glaring thing is that his latest pigeon liked to rest on the same shoulder as Desmond did and made the same cooing sound whenever he was trying to get Altaïr to rest for a bit.
For Ezio though. Let’s make it more traumatic. Messenger pigeons aren’t a regular occurrence for Ezio but Petruccio has a ‘pet’ pigeon who liked to fly towards him and chill with him whenever Petruccio was resting or had to do something else.
So Desmond’s first death in Italia is actually during the time the Auditores are being arrested. He tried to protect Petruccio but ends up being hit hard. When Ezio returned, Desmond actually dies in his hands.
He gets reborn and has to deal with the whole ‘growing up as a pigeon’ thing again. By the time he returns to Ezio, Ezio’s already in Monteriggioni, training with his uncle’s mercenaries, and he becomes one of the many messenger pigeons the Brotherhood uses.
(Not to be mistaken by the messenger pigeons the Medici uses. Desmond hates being mistaken as one of them)
Ezio would probably realize Desmond keeps being reborn around the time he’s in Roma. As the mentor, he gets more messenger pigeons than he did before and he gets used to them, figuring out their specific quirks and habits.
Desmond’s habits remained the same and it takes Ezio a bit of time before he remembered why Desmond’s habits felt… nostalgic.
It’s because Desmond acts the same as he did when he was just Petruccio’s pet pigeon.

Chuuya's father was written as a military doctor not necessarily to parallel Mori, but rather because the real Chuuya's father was as well. Nakahara Kensuke interestingly was a writer as well and occasionally wrote for newspapers because he hoped to follow in the footsteps of the real Mori. Just think it's a really interesting tidbit and your post made me think of it.
Oh yeah yeah yeah! I also know that Nakahara Chuuya's parents wanted him to be a doctor like his father, but he chose the #ArtistLife
But you made me realize I didn't explain my point correctly, it wasn't just the military doctor part that makes the parallel work, it's because his mom is described as being a distinguished woman from a lineage of warriors wearing a kimono:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND those descriptions come a dozen pages after describing Mori and Kouyou in similar words:

And if it's just a coincidence I'm gonna laugh at Asagiri

I wish you wrote a fic where Bular gets changed into human (yknow, like Blinky one)
That's a really intriguing ask...
Going to put this in a role(mentor) swap ish sort of scenario. So Bular and Strickler swap with Blinky and Aaarrrgghh.
Bular doesn't quite take a pacifist role... He doesn't mind here and there eating a human, ones that are just bad, but Strickler isn't always able to watch out for that.
Anyway. Bular and Toby end up together in Gatto, and Bular gets hit with the potions. He takes the reality of being human super poorly and is disgusted at it. He's weak, he's flabby (he's actually toned and muscular and a eye magnet, but Strickler is sour about that and so agrees Bular is hideous) and he feels disgusted at the mere thought of what he'd usually eat.
But after a while... He realised that humans are not so different from trolls. They fight, they laugh, they sing... They do all the things he remembers from his time with his father's Gumm-Gumm’s. And the food is pretty good. He grudgingly admits to Strickler humans aren't so bad after all.
When he returns to his troll form he vows off eating humans.
And Strickler never lets that go.

I would love to hear the Tim and Babs rant!
Okay, it’s not so much Tim & Babs specific, more of a general issue, but—
IT JUST BUGS ME that women aren’t allowed to have boys/young men as sidekicks/subordinates in the DC universe.
(I think it’s because of the classic “men’s knowledge is general, women’s knowledge is MYSTERIIIIOUS and applicable Only To Women” brand of sexism. Like, a man could have a boy or a girl be his sidekick, he would obviously have Much To Teach Them. And obviously a woman could have a girl sidekick, since she would have Much To Teach Her. But a woman having enough applicable knowledge for a BOY to have Much To Teach Him? POPPYCOCK! *monocles pop off wildly* *several monopoly men hit the fainting couches at the mere suggestion.*)

i think we as a society don’t talk enough about leo’s trauma because my man gets his arm and his leg crushed trying to save his family and then proceeds to get teased by his family for not being bionic enough when the whole reason he’s bionic is because he was trying to save them and he got hurt and especially his leg is treated like a joke the whole time, and then he finally finds a new way to combine his and his friends powers and it blinds his friend which hurt him so much that he quit?? he spends all four seasons begging to be bionic but this affected him so much he quits, only coming back because his family is in danger (again)
anyways i love him
THIS IS THE EXACT REASON WHY HIS AND DOUGLAS' FRIENDSHIP WAS SO NEEDED!!! IF THEY TOOK A BIT OF TIME TO LOOK INTO DOUGLAS PAST AND HOW HEAVILY THAT AFFECTED HIS CHARACTER, IT WOULD BE SO EASY TO TELL THAT HE AND LEO WOULD MIRROR EACH OTHER!! DOUGLAS, STREET TURNING OVER A NEW LEAF, WOULD BE AND TO BE THE PERSON FOR LEO THAT HE DESPERATELY NEEDED!!! THIS WOULD ALLOW LEO TO PROPERLY DEVELOP INTO THE BIONIC HERO THAT HE'S ALWAYS WANTED TO BE AND WOULD ALLOW DOUGLAS TO BE MORE THAN JUST COMEDY RELIEF, COMEDY RELIEF (EVIL), AND A SECOND DONALD!!!

FIVE!!!! i've never been one for exhibitionism but there was something about that phone call...
also i'm obsessed with james he's so fun
I've never really written exhibitionism before, but I love Remus' particular brand of possessiveness. He's too secure and easy going for jealousy, but he thinks he's the luckiest motherfucker on the planet for having somehow bagged this stunning, sexy, vivacious little minx, so he wants the whole fucking world to see it. (And it doesn't hurt that Remus is aware that he is exceptionally good in bed. It's the only time he ever feels like showing off, and he has well earned the right.)
James the happy pornstar is one of my favourite things about this verse, and you can thank @sadbookboys for his existence, because she was the one who came up with his side-hustle, which then shaped his entire character.
Sirius is surrounded by healthy, uninhibited attitudes toward sex, and I love that for him. All the men in his life are just big ol' sluts. ❤️

I wish you would write a fic where… Joel had been called to mentor Reader in shooting, but doesn't really want to and is being mean to her, but only because he has a crush on her and she’s younger than him.
I can try. It will likely be post-outbreak Joel. Pre-outbreak Joel knows how to shoot but doesn’t do it often because peace, work, caring for his daughter, etc. (This is how I picture pre-outbreak Joel so soft, so sad, so much work, so Joel.) 🥸
It’s required and encouraged by post-outbreak Joel. I haven't really written for post-outbreak Joel so this will be a first, here we go!
Pairing: Joel Miller x plus size female reader
Warnings: None really I think? 😎
Word count: 1057 (An actual Drabble?! Maybe)
Tommy and Maria had thought up this grand scheme. A plan rather to make sure Jackson is as prepared as can be in case clickers or raiders attack, all able-bodied adults would be taught self-defense and gun skills, both handguns and rifles. Joel agreed with this plan last month. It sounded great then, but now, standing across from this short plump woman who annoyed him to no end. She can barely hold it correctly. She can’t figure out how to remove the damn safety after showing her three times and she wasn’t able to take the gun apart or put it back together. What frustrates him even more is that he looks forward to teaching her, though he knows he’s doing a piss poor job of it. There’s nothing to show for the month as far as gun skills.
Joel was halfway confident she would be able to break away from an attacker and get help or at least injure them. She did well with the knife and was able to aim for the chest, neck, and stomach to slow an opponent. The soft hands that pushed his chest in practice and wrapped her soft hands around his throat, barely able to touch the fingertips to each other, he found himself thinking about them after their sessions. It made him feel like a worse teacher, hearing her voice ask him,
“Am I hurting you? I don’t know how hard push.”
“I’m scared to get a good grip; you’re not actually attacking me. Mr. Miller.”
“Can I just use the knife? I’m really bad with guns it seems.”
“I’ll do better, I’ll practice after clinic hours.”
Joel couldn’t let her use a gun without him. He told himself that it was because she was so horrible at it. But now he was legitimately concerned that he may be sabotaging her efforts to learn. She seemed capable to learn the simple hand to hand techniques, but Joel couldn’t bring himself to ask another one of the scouting to instruct her either. He found himself becoming greedy when it came to his subpar pupil.
The older Miller brother stopped by the clinic, it appeared to be closed, but he heard her voice and a male one coming from around back. He crept around back and saw her speaking with Ted, a fellow scout and one who usually scoped out the Tipsy Bison looking for his next lay. The guy was closer in age to her, Joel being in his early fifties, and he was pretty sure she was in her late twenties or early thirties at most. The cold air displayed the steam coming from their conversation as Ted put a hand on her shoulder. A benign act that Joel took personal offence to, he strode over and slapped Ted’s back hard on purpose under the guise of greeting him. The younger man took the hint and left, leaving the clinician smiling at Joel. She did that too often as well. Who smiles that damn much at the end of the world?
“Hey Puddin’. Ted give you any pointers?” Even if Ted had, he was going to point what was wrong with them and how she should follow his directions. She shook her head.
“No Mr. Miller. He said something at practicing at night. He clearly wasn’t going to teach me anything I needed know.” She shrugged her shoulders, she shifted her weight between her feet, Joel noticed she did this when she was nervous. “I-I haven’t practiced any shooting. I don’t want to injure anyone. Oh! I think I can almost get my hands to behave to aim at least. Having unsteady hands doesn’t bode well for hitting a target.” Her chuckle makes Miller sigh, she shouldn’t be learning how to shoot at all. She needs to be working the clinic and maybe relaxing in the evening with hot chocolate and a book. He pictures her as someone who would read in the evening curled up under a blanket, maybe her thick legs draped over him as he sipped some whiskey.
“Mr. Miller.”
Joel was sure he’d need to talk to Tommy about this eventually. She really doesn’t need a gun.
“Mr. Miller? Are you alright?” She asked, grasping his coat sleeve and Joel yanked his arm away instinctively. He stepped back and crouched partially making himself ready for anything. The young woman stepped back and bit her lip, now he was angry at her again.
Well maybe angry this time, before he just seemed perturbed with her lack of skill with guns. She felt someone as skilled as Joel shouldn’t be teaching her and the very thought of working with a novice like her drove him to such levels of vexation. She was sure he’d rather be doing anything else. At least she was okay in hand to hand, but guns scared her so much, knowing what they could do. That was the point of them, but still the thought of shooting someone caused her anxiety and Joel with his gruff booming voice, especially when she was sure he was going to throw the gun at her after she couldn’t get the safety off for the umptieth time.
“Shit Puddin’ you can’t just grab me like that. I’d cut ya,” He exhaled and regained his composure. Joel then realized that he had just threatened to slice her. He reached a hand out to her but she recoiled and stook a few more steps back.
“S-Sorry about that Mr. Miller. I didn’t mean to…Fuck I can’t do any of this right.” Her gloved hands covered her face in embarrassment. Not only can she not work any type of gun, she made her mentor have a fight or flight response. Maybe she would speak to Tommy and Maria, she wasn’t made to use a gun.
“Now look Puddin’ sorry fer scarin’ ya. I don’t do too well with touch.” He focused on the ground, he felt that he should do or say something else, but what? “Don’t worry yerself none. I reckon I scared you more than you did me Darlin’. I mma get going. Don’t cry. Nothin’ to cry ‘bout baby girl.” The elder Miller brother patted her head as he said ‘baby girl’ softly. Her sniffles slowed and he walked away, leaving her out back of her clinic.

I wish to bless you with this mental image of aunty des with nephew shay and liam. Very unorganized but eh
Des's new life was simple, as simple as it could be if she were honest. She's spooked her brother a few times, not on purpose, of course. But now with a six year old boy under her feet she's definitely gotten a dose of her own medicine whenever she turns around to see just him and his friend liam, who was now an unspoken member of her newfound brood. Blinking des looked at shay with a raised brow "I didn't hear you or liam" she says taking note of their excited-proud-mildly embarrassed body language as shay gave a smile that made her heart melt right to her soul and leak from her very pores.
"Just like you taught us!"
It was official, des adored her nephew. Isu be damned if anything happened to the small ray of light that life blessed her with, she swore she was partially retired but in truth she was a liar and she knew it. She knew half of shay's story, that he became a traitor of the brotherhood and hunted them to near extinction here in the colonies yet a part of her always- always felt she had a half truth, a fae lie. Seeing shay as he was now and raising him, she knew Achilles and his assassin's were at fault somehow and the fate shay and subsequently liam had due to them would be avoided if she had anything to do or say about it.
Grinning in return, she ruffled his hair lovingly as she gave liam a pat on the head before resting her hands on their shoulders. "And I'm very proud you took what i taught you, the both of you to heart." The pride in her voice wasn't hard to miss, it never was.
"Now, do you two wanna try something i was making? It's sweet and i personally think you'll love it"
Originally, the woman would've cursed the isu and their machines for bringing her back, but now? Des was happy and loved her newfound family, so small blessings she concluded. Small blessings.
Part of the Desmond gets reborn as Shay’s aunt idea
Aawww. This is so sweet.
If I may suggest that the reason why Desmond learned of Shay’s betrayal is because of a memory of Ratonhnhaké:ton and Achilles talking.
A small memory that remained in Desmond’s mind because it was the last conversation Ratonhnhaké:ton had with Achilles.
Achilles warned Ratonhnhaké:ton the pitfalls of being a mentor, how it was a lonely place to be, with no one beside you to support you.
Desmond could feel the grief and the guilt in Achilles’ words.
No.
Ratonhnhaké:ton could feel what Achilles wasn’t directly saying.
It was a warning.
He was trying to make sure Ratonhnhaké:ton wouldn’t make the mistakes he made.
And Desmond right now?
She’ll make sure Achilles doesn’t make a similar mistake this time.
Even if it means dragging him off the mentor role by undermining his authority.

Hi, could you get more into detail about what exactly you mean when you say you can't do team 7 and yamato? I don't seem to understand what ticks you off? Are you referring to romantic ships or do you just don't want to roleplay with anyone from team 7?
I one hundred percent just mean romantic! I definitely should have made that more clear. He's ten years older than team 7, and a mentor to them, even if it's just for a short bit of their journey. I won't ship with anyone five years older or younger than Yamato. I'm absolutely always down for a mentorship/friendship with team 7, but it's when things start getting romantic that I have to step away.

How about sky and wild free falling together? Whether it’s angst or fluff, you decide!
The ground felt strangely unstable, floating aimlessly in the air with no secure perch in sight. As much as Link was comfortable with paragliding, this was taking things to an extreme level.
Not to mention the kingdom was in literal pieces.
Link tried to take a grounding breath, overwhelmed. Zelda was gone, Ganon was back in a new form with more power than ever... they'd spent one hundred years fighting him and he still won.
He wouldn't give up. He wouldn't. But... he couldn't help but feel hopeless, standing up here with a bird's eye view of just how much damage there was.
Hyrule had recovered just enough to be decimated again.
"Demise is horrible like that."
Link jumped, startled, and turned to see the familiar ghostly figure beside him. After an initial misunderstanding, Link's new companion, sent by Hylia, had been trying to guide him through this venture. He still didn't know how to feel about actually interacting with the Spirit of the Hero - was this person a part of him? Had he been looking over him this entire time? Why hadn't he stopped the first calamity, then?
Had Link failed him more than anyone else?
The Spirit smiled, his face soft and gentle, putting Link at ease. "But that's why we're here. You're not alone, Link. I'll guide you, and you've got a lot of friends on the surface who are there to assist you."
Link looked down at the world below and got a brief sense of vertigo. Goddess they were high up.
He kind of wanted to see how far he could fall before he'd need his glider. There was a certain apprehension to the thought - the only time he recalled being this precariously high up was when he was infiltrating Vah Medoh, and he'd had Teba there to help him if he truly was unable to stop the fall. Nevertheless, the wind called to him, and he longed to be on the ground below once more.
His guide smiled and giggled, his face suddenly bright. "Come on. Let's kick Ganon's ass."
With that, the spirit put a hand on Link before disappearing, a light sinking into Link and warming him to his bones. His desire to jump heightened, and he could practically feel the Hero's Spirit bouncing with excitement at the prospect of jumping.
Link smiled and leapt.
The wind was deafening. The force at which he was falling felt like he was crashing through walls, pushing against him while he plummeted to the world below. His stomach was left behind on the air island above, but his heart was quickly catching up to the moment.
He heard the spirit yell in delight, and it pulled a laugh out of him. For a moment he almost felt like he was lost in his mind, focused on the moment but outside his body, and for just a moment, the Spirit could actually feel the wind, could actually feel the freedom of the fall, and the first Hero let out a scream of pure joy as his tears were lost to the sky he loved so dearly.

Do you think Doc is a good mentor? Why or why not?
There's not a shadow of a doubt in my mind when I say yes, Doc is a good mentor. A great mentor, actually.
It's easy to cast him aside because Doc's extremely eccentric and most people, if they're not afraid of him/extremely wary of him, they think he's out of his mind because he's not afraid to push boundaries and challenge everything around him, but Doc is practically meant to be a mentor. He slotted so perfectly into the role without even realising it when Marty came along and it just kind of continued from there, spilling over with Jen, his own kids/family, and even (eventually) Marty & Jen's kids.
Before I even get into my ramblings/explanations, all we really need to do is look at his relationship with Marty to see that. While Marty may be the main protagonist/focus across all three films, every change and good thing that subsequently happens with the new Lone Pine timeline is indirectly because of Doc and the mentorship/guidance he's given to Marty since the day they met.
Some examples we see of Doc's mentorship/friendship and the impact it has upon Marty:
He has not only built up Marty's confidence and self-esteem, but encouraged him to always pursue his dreams. You can accomplish anything if you put your mind to it. That very advice changes the course of George & Lorraine's lives entirely. And Doc himself is living proof of that. It's not just something he tells the kid. Hell, even Jen says in pt1, 'It's like Doc's always saying—'
Doc has never treated Marty like he was stupid, unintelligent, or just some kid who wouldn't understand. There are always multiple ways of tackling a problem and Doc shows him this when he finds other ways to explain the scientific/technical parts of whatever he's working on, because he knows Marty enjoys hearing about it and being included.
He may have kept the time machine project a secret from Marty for a few years, but as a true mentor does, once the time comes for temporal experiment number one, he's not only inviting Marty along, but eagerly explaining exactly how the machine works.
Doc is incredibly attentive and this makes him a very good mentor, especially with Marty. Even at the beginning of pt1, before we have any idea who Doc is, we learn that Doc knows Marty enough to ring his own home with the idea that he'd be there to pick up the phone.
Encouraged him to pursue his music dreams, instilling in him the belief that he doesn't have to pursue a career as a teacher or a scientist or a lawyer just because it's what everyone else does. Doc goes so far as to purchase/keep a guitar in the garage specifically for Marty. Doc doesn't play.
Given him the chance to get advice from somebody attentive who wasn't his parent and wouldn't treat him as such. Doc has such a wealth of life experience and advice to offer and everything can be a teaching moment.
Gave him the tools to make a difference in his own life, and we see this especially at the end of pt3, when Marty finally learns how to not fall victim to being goaded/peer pressured into losing his temper by being called a chicken.
And now that I've gotten some of those out of the way, I'm going to keep rambling.
Another thing that makes Doc a good mentor is that Doc is not a one size fits all kind of guy in his approach to things. He tailors everything to best tackle the problem at hand, and this extends to people, too. The way he teaches Jules something won't be the way he teaches Verne something, or Marty something. A good mentor understands the person they're working with, I think, and knows the best ways to impart their wisdom and knowledge on them and Doc is exceptional at this.
But another thing that makes Doc a good mentor is that he typically doesn't hold things back, and this is something I think makes all the difference when trying to teach someone. There's a fine line that has to walk and sometimes, criticism and harsh reality is part of that.
Doc's rather open and honest with those around him (he doesn't sugarcoat harsh truths/realities and even in the deleted/scrapped scene back in '55 when Marty asks him how long he'd have if getting his parents together at the dance didn't pan out, Doc straight up admits that he has no idea. And sure, you can argue that well, that's '55 Doc and he didn't really know Marty then, but he does that throughout the films enough that my point still stands.)
One could try and make the argument that he's reckless and therefore not fit to be a mentor to anyone younger than him (or at all I guess) but at every turn, we always see Doc being the first one to stick his neck out and try to protect others. Granted, there are circumstances/situations that were simply unavoidable (Marty can't repair the time machine for example, so he had to go off and deal with Biff, etc) but for the most part, when the chance was there, this holds:
A second lab for the nuclear/more dangerous experiments. Run for it, Marty! I'll draw their fire! (Also the fact that Doc's genuinely surprised that they found him implies that he attempted to take some measure of precaution in his dealings with them to get the plutonium but, clearly, it wasn't enough.) The entire Clock Tower scene at the end of pt1. The constant reminders about the dangers of being seen in the past. The Delgado mine plan and the emphasised don't come back for me, go home and watch my dog and be safe. There's so much.
