a design (and short entry) for michael! michael, meaning “who is like god?”, is the prince of angels who rules over divine mercy and its according wrath. additional character info (+ an enraged palette) under the read more!

- michael is by far the most ruthless of the archangels, incapable of sympathy for sinners - many in heaven believe this is due to how he personally had to expel lucifer, which hardened his heart to stone

- he is meant to represent the two-sided nature of god’s mercy and wrath, but the latter has overtaken the former as god’s own anger and disappointment grew toward humanity and hell

- only gabriel was previously able to temper michael’s righteous fury effectively, strong enough to stand in his way with the compassion needed to steady his hand

- tactics: michael is a brutal, fast, and highly adaptable warrior - only gabriel could rival his strength among the angels. his primary weapon is a spear that can deal harsh damage while keeping michael out of melee range, but he will also readily use a bow or sword in battle as well. michael will become enraged as his health depletes, after which he will use his chains to lash and bind his enemies

In the year of the son, 1356 AD, Michael, Great Prince of the Archangels, leader of the Heavenly Host, begged of his Father a chance to lay down his sword, for the span of one human lifetime. To be amongst the the decendants of Adam and Eve, live as they live, love as they love and truly know the humans he was tasked to protect. Granted, with his Father's blessings, he would live one mortal life on earth. With no memory of his true self. As a man, he would be unknown, even to the denizens of heaven and hell. For all who knew his visage would forget, look upon him and see a stranger...Until the day he drew his last breath and returned to the side of his creator.

And that would have all worked out fine, if two Endless hadn't stumbled across one Robert Gadling in 1389 and made him immortal. By 2022, The Archangel Michael, He who is like God, had been missing from heaven for 666 years. Meanwhile Hob Gadling is getting to know a being he has, unbeknownst to himself, actually known (and has been silently pining over) since the dawn of time.

Luckily, God, as if almost forseeing this eventuality... Had added an escape clause. If ever there was need of him, his sword would find it's master, his grace would be restored and all would once again recognise the face of the highest of all Angels, returned to his former might.

(I love human Hob so much. His humanity is the best thing about him. But sometimes it's fun to play! Especially role reversal, where by the end of this, Hob is actually older and more powerful then Dream.)

You just know he's getting his powers back defending Dream from Lucifer. That moment when Hob dreams up a sword to take on Lucifer, and they're like, 'Pff, puny human' and Dream's like, 'Noo! My puny human!' Then the sword ignites in flames and they both suddenly remember that's Michael. And think 'Oh sh*t' for two very different reasons.

.... Also, apparently Michael's animals are cats (both wild and domestic) and all black birds... Smooth Mikey... Real smooth. Is that celestial flirt for, we like the same things, let's get married!

Love the idea of trickster Lucifer/The Devil who tries to manipulate and psychologically torture everyone into leaving god and taking away all their chance to be redeemed.

But I'm hungry to see Michael never falling for it.

And I don't mean the Archangel who goes down to his level to make people still have faith, who also hurts others and even his own to go against the devil. Neither do I also mean the Archangel who is blinded by faith and does whatever he wants because he can't fall, or even the Archangel who acts just as pompous and prideful as any other prince.

I clave for the Archangel who fails and learns his lessons, who always gets hurt in the end but never gives up on humanity, the one that became so human it breaks him entirely, the Archangel chief prince that rules through heaven and the pressure of it holds him forever. The Archangel whose faith doesn't waver, whose scars are visible like those of a warrior, whose mind is sharp from the ages and wise from its confrontarions with the devil. The one who is patient enough to hold a conversation with the worst of kind, the one who has learned resilience from the humble and recieved strength from the loveless. The one that has been through the war and never forget it, but neither does it forget to love the enemy through it.

Crying Child lives au where Mike and Friends not only make Evan a part of the friend group but make him Leader of the friend group and do literally whatever he says to make up for what they did.

Evan isn't sure what to make of it at first but he does slowly warm up to it, leading to him to do things like

Have Mike and Friends play pretend with him

Playing with plushies together

Evan getting upset when William won't let him have a dog, and thus asking that someone in the friend group pretends to be a dog for him (this position ofc gets thrusts onto the Pushover of the friend group)

Evan asking them to do increasingly embarassing (but not, like, actually harmful) things

Except also the friend group is EXTREMELY chaotic and will take his requests too literally sometimes to make him laugh. Also sometimes Evan will mention that he wants some toy/candy/clothes and the gang will shoplift it for him and Evan will be like NO THAT'S NOT OKAY! THAT'S NOT WHAT I MEANT!

not to start psychoanalyzing or anything, but the reason why mike cares so much about el needing him instead of el loving him is because he already knows that love isn't enough. his family loves him, but they don't need him and that's why he's invisible to them (in his pov as the black sheep). he equates being needed to receiving attention, being visible, and thus having value in the eyes of someone else and purpose that he otherwise doesn't have.

Theme for that magazine shoot here was "Secrets" and Michael supposed to be in the "role" as a cult leader back then.

It was announced in October ´23 he was cast in a movie about "The Heaven´s Gate" cult. Maybe they will shoot that movie in July??? Nothing new about this film ("The Leader") though.
