Rides at Regular Festivals and Water Parks 🙌🏻 🤣 🧸 💘

Waterslides I love and wanted to go on for so long. I just don’t do chutes yet or the floppy ones, I know.

Ferriswheels are too risky these days with people in your cart or alone in your cart, offcenter. I would no longer want to be in a blimp. On a waterslide steps someone actually got so careless I almost fell.

I don’t get coo coo on fast spinning rides, but it hurt so much I only hot through screaming the whole time it hurt. I might die on a bungee jump. I don’t get that dizzy and faint. I don’t like swinging boats. Upside down only love roller coasters, not been on the steepest ones.

Tilt a Whirl some people can’t handle, and it starts exciting though I “can never get enough of it.”

I’m still a child who goes on the merry go rounds.

I love the lazy River but maybe been my favorite for 18 years wishing I could go very often and juice up my body.

god ok i just figured out whats wrong with tomo and arlo's eyes, whoever drew their art keeps placing the pupil really offcenter in the iris and it throws off everything about the expressions. i also think they're a little too small and should be colored ever so slightly lighter (to match the iris a little better - i think theyre 000000 black and it looks weird to me) but those two might just be my own sensibilities about how to draw eyes. might mockup fixes for it tbh it bugs me a lot

It’s summer hiatus but I updated yesterday [6/7/20]. The Brooklyn 99 eighth season opener, episode one of two, if I were showrunner (abridged). (Usually when I draw a cartoon speculating on a story's future development, once the story actually airs I remove the speculatory cartoon from The Hero of Three Faces continuity. In rare cases I decide I like my version better enough that I keep it, adapting elements of the screen version into mine as it goes along. I believe I'll do that this time. Although the guys at Brooklyn 99 are the type who might surprise me and do something I like better than this. Time will tell.)

GoGreen: Carbon Tracker

GoGreen is an app that tracks your carbon footprint. It identifies trends in the user’s energy consumption and with this information helps to reduce your carbon footprint. The app uses data from bills, which to me might be a frustrating user journey.

The stand out pain point I found with this app was that the terminology used is complicated to the average user. The interface itself was simple to navigate, which frustrated me as the idea was there, it just seemed to me that the user research was missed in the development of this app. The information provided would seem necessary to the developer, but it hasn't been simplified enough for the user.

The app compares the user consumption to the national average consumption and to others in the same city and state. The energy point system is too complicated, as it states on their App Store summary that ‘for every 100 pounds of carbon dioxide less than the national average you release, you will receive 1 energy point. For every 100 pounds of carbon dioxide over the national average you release, you will receive -1 energy point’.

The average user would struggle to know how to save 100 pounds of carbon dioxide to receive an energy point. This would be more effective by simply saying ‘save 10% of your monthly usage of water and receive an energy point’.

It is important when using an app or digital service (in my opinion) that the app does most if not all of the work for you. That is what the app is for, right?

MathTappers: Carbon Choices

MathTappers is an app that again tracks your carbon footprint, but with more areas such as food included too. The data is taken from the user inputting it which I find is a pain point, due to the fact that it can be hard to keep up with, especially with everybody being so busy and overworked in every industry in the country.

It is a lot of information to think of and the user would need to sit down and try and remember all sorts of information that they would just forget. Someone who watches TV would rarely remember how long they were watching it for, so it would help if that was automated somehow.

Similar to GoGreen, MathTappers is an app that is a good idea, but poorly executed. The interface is almost unusable. It took me 3 minutes to realise how to use it, which is 2 minutes and 45 seconds too long.

I enjoyed the way the information was being sorted into a visual graph, so that definitely made me feel as if the information I was putting into the app was useful and it felt trustworthy in that aspect.

I actually preferred the way the app worked to GoGreen, but preferred the GoGreen interface. It shows that as I said earlier in the blog, the user interface is just as important as the user experience (in my opinion).

JouleBug

JouleBug is an app that is an incredible idea, maybe the best of the four I have chosen to look at. I love the competitive nature of it, and if anything, the app is fun to use. It takes the serious nature of climate change and places a fun spin on it, with achievements given as a way of encouraging people to make a difference.

The reality of situations are usually avoided by humans if they need to, as they have an attitude of ‘it’ll be okay everything will be fine’, so this idea helps to target those users who don’t want to think about the consequences of their actions. Instead, they will see it as a completion with mates or business colleagues, which is fine, as ultimately the job in hand (saving the planet) is being carried out.

The main pain point for me with JouleBug would be that the evidence of me taking an action wasn’t needed (as far as I’m aware anyway). I said to the app that I switched off a light after leaving a room, which I didn't need to do as it didn’t require any evidence.

It was optional to upload a picture or video, which to me makes the app untrustworthy. It is a shame that dishonest people exist, but unfortunately we have to take all possibilities into account when creating a service.

offCents

offCents is an app that encourages users to be more aware of their carbon footprint from travel and to take action. The user is rewarded for reducing carbon emissions by walking and biking more instead of regularly using the car or taking a plane somewhere.

This concept is a nice idea, and I like the fact that the actions are incentivised with rewards, I just feel that it is slightly too complicated. It might be better understood by having comparisons of what pounds of carbon dioxide look like to the user, for example it could be visualised as the size of double decker buses, just to put it into perspective to the user.

The interface is simple and easy to use, and I do like the fact that it shows you your emissions for the month; it instantly places you in the reality of climate change and how you making these small differences can actually help to make a difference to the planet you live on.
