I watched a playthrough of the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game and I noticed that a couple of the music tracks sound like something out of Sonic Mania. And then I found out that Tee Lopes composed most of the music in the game, who also composed music for Sonic Mania.

Now I know why the OST is full of absolute bangers.

It is actually unbelievable how much work we’ve done on the house since we moved in. And by “us”, I mean everyone in the house, sure, but mostly I mean Cyrus who has been making this house into a home with a passion, mania, tenacity, and insanity that to me is indistinguishable from a mutant superpower. I’ll stage an intervention at some point to be like “STOP. REST.” But maybe not until they’ve built the backyard patio.

One thing I noticed from the mutant metaphor article is that the Fantastic Four live on Madison Avenue, which is synonymous with "advertising", both now and when the comic started. Is that just a coincidence?

No, I think from the beginning, Stan and Jack were interested in the concept of celebrity and fame - it’s why there’s Fantastic Four-mania in the comics, it’s why Johnny becomes a teen heartthrob, it’s why Sue becomes a model. And later writers have run with that ball.

How’s the Chirurgeon and its brood doing? I notice nobody ever asks about them.

Anyone who has arrived on this side of the Eye of Terror has a history of fratricide. No one, no, not a single one here whose hands are not red with the blood of those who trusted him. Before Isstvan. Before the other Isstvan. Before Nikaea. No matter.

The difference is that some have put this time of betrayed brotherhood behind them - or are constantly trying to do so with stubborn energy - while others have embraced the fact that betrayal will always give birth to more betrayal and made it a principle.

The one as illusory as the other. No one changes the past. Everyone here carries with them what they have done.

How you deal with it … well, that's individual, of course.

Oleander has realised that it is not enough for him to distance himself with caustic sarcasm and work with energetic mania towards a golden future that will certainly never come true. On the contrary. As much as Fabius' strange idealism in this regard fascinates him, he needs the dark thrill that the hunt for his own blood gives him.

Of course, these are all just petty exercises. It's about feeling something. Which, after all these centuries and with Slaanesh's fingers burning in the black remnants of his soul, isn't easy.

And what would be more arousing than killing the one who is his teacher? His role model. His cold mentor.

No. That would be incredibly reckless.

Nevertheless. He is hungry for it.

He can't give in to it.

At least not directly.

But he can play pretend. With something almost as good as the Chief Apothecary himself. That which has spent centuries becoming one with the Pater Mutatis. Which harbours his cunning and his cruelty. And which, like its creator, knows absolutely no scruples.

Oleander grins, shows his pointed teeth and feels alive. In the midst of the deepest darkness beneath Urum, where the ghostly remains of the long-dead Aeldari scream and whisper in the corners of his vision. Amidst the ruins with their creatures without names, who have made their home in decay. Mutants, refuse, remnants.

And the hunters.

The silver hunters. Nothing but limbs and cold. Splinters of one of the most complex brains in the galaxy, brought to life by … yes, what?

The Emperor's Children Apothecary is waiting. Lurks. Not far from here is one of the chambers where the strange non-living creatures have made their home. From where they make their raids and which they guard well.

Striking there is like attacking Fabius himself. Although the Chief Apothecary almost certainly doesn't even know about this place and is only peripherally interested in it.

But for Oleander, that's what he needs.

A soft metallic clatter in the darkness. A handspan-sized version of the chirurgeon shimmies along the ceiling, disappearing into a crack between the stones. Further ahead, a larger, much more complex version of the non-living creature claws at what may once have been a cybernetic arm. Prey? Nesting material? Oleander is interested.

But he's actually on the hunt. He has his swords drawn. Waiting.

Another metallic noise behind him. He grins. They were hunting him, just like he was hunting them. Oh yes, they're clever. Why wouldn't they be? Their creator has given them so much.

TMAYNT Day 14: Favorite Turtle Movie

I have to give love to the movie that got me into TMNT back in October. I kept seeing clips of it on TikTok and fell in love with the animation style. When I watched the movie, I was able to connect with the four main characters (specifically anxious oldest sibling Leonardo) and it made me want to learn more about them.

My TMNT fan story starts with Mutant Mayhem. I’m 40 years late to the turtle mania but I’m here now.

it would be so so so RAD if we managed to get rottmnt unpaused while mutant mayhem is going, I mean, out of the 5 tmnt shows we’ve had 3 of them have their wanted seasons canceled, the bayverse sequel flopped, and the most hyped tmnt show as far as I’ve seen is 2012 which isn’t an amazing look considering some of the concerning writing decisions in that show. a new wave of turtle mania over 30 years after the first wave? a new wave that doesn’t rely on the shredder coming back more than william afton and focuses more on mutants and their communities? with the turtles looking distinct from each other and the shows themselves being stylized and fun? with a black april and a crew that genuinely shows a lot of love for the franchise it’s building on while creating their own world and lore and really having fun? two versions that bring the fun and silliness of the 87 cartoon and the 90’s movies while also having the dark, gritty, emotional, and horror inspired elements that have been baked into the franchise for years? to have rise and mutant mayhem exist at the same time would be INCREDIBLE my autistic self would EXPLODE to see this rejuvenation. all the people complaining about the new versions who are claiming to be fans are ridiculous because mutant mayhem and rise are love letters to the teenage mutant ninja turtles legacy and I am so excited for the direction this franchise is going
