Most hated characters according to the internet.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reasons:
1.Mahito
(I) Pleasure in Battle: Mahito draws pleasure from fights, making him an extremely dark character in the series. It’s frustrating to face an adversary who fights purely for the thrill, rather than any noble motive
(ii) Cold Rationality: Unlike other villains who lose their rationale easily, Mahito remains cool-headed and highly rational. His portrayal as the embodiment of human fear and hatred leaves no room for emotion. This lack of empathy makes him even more unsettling.
(iii) Nihilistic Philosophy: Mahito adheres to nihilism, believing that life lacks inherent meaning. His chaotic worldview stems from evil desires, resentment, and the corruption of humanity
(iv) Manipulative Sadism: Manifested out of sheer hatred and human suffering, Mahito thrives on manipulating human emotions. He takes pleasure in making those around him suffer, adding to his sadistic natu
2. GABI
(I). Sasha’s Tragic Death: She killed Sasha, one of the most beloved characters in the franchise. Sasha’s death was a heartbreaking moment for audiences and other characters in the story.
(ii) Eldian Identity and Marleyan Influence: Gabi is an Eldian, but she despises her own heritage. Born and raised in Marley, she has been surrounded by people who convinced her that Eldians are devils. Despite being one of them, she wishes she were Marleyan.
(iii) Hypocrisy and Aggression: Gabi’s constant aggressive display of hatred towards Eldians, despite being one herself, is seen as hypocritical and annoying by some fans. Her sass, badassery, and frequent screaming have divided the fandom into two camps: those who empathize with her and those who find her irritating.
3. SAKURA
(I) Inconsistent Character Development: . Despite her raw strength and impressive medical ninjutsu, she frequently relied on stronger characters to save the day. This inconsistency frustrated fans who wanted to see her shine consistently.
(ii) Swinging Between Independence and Dependence: Some fans find Sakura’s character frustrating due to her oscillation between wanting independence and relying on others. This inconsistency can be annoying and contributes to the mixed feelings about her.
(iii) Treatment of Naruto: Early in the series, Sakura was often mean to Naruto. While Naruto’s behavior was initially obnoxious, Sakura’s treatment of him didn’t endear her to fans.
(iv) Obsession with Sasuke: Sakura’s infatuation with Sasuke Uchiha was a point of contention. Her unwavering loyalty to him, despite his actions, frustrated viewers who wanted her to focus on her own growth.
4. Shou Tucker
**Shou Tucker**, the infamous character from *Fullmetal Alchemist*, has earned a special place in the hearts of fans—for all the wrong reasons. Let's delve into why he's so widely despised:
i. Unforgivable Experiments:
- Tucker's most heinous act was fusing his own daughter, Nina with their pet dog, creating a horrifying chimera. The Elric Brothers witnessed Nina's suffering, and her loss became deeply personal for viewers .
- The fact that he did this twice (once with his wife and then with Nina) is chilling.
ii. Lack of Remorse:
- Unlike other villains, Tucker shows no remorse for his deeds. Even the homunculi, with their twisted natures, exhibit some human-like faults. Tucker, however, is a cold sociopath who killed his daughter out of fear of poverty .
5. MINETA
(i) Perverted Behavior: Mineta’s disturbingly immature and perverted tendencies are a major point of contention. His attraction toward girls, particularly Momo and Tsuyu, is often expressed in a creepy manner. Fans find this behavior off-putting and cringe-worthy.
(ii) Lack of Character Development:. Some viewers argue that he lacks significant growth or development throughout the series. His perversion tends to overshadow any positive moments he has
(iii) Groping Incident: During the U.S.J. Attack, Mineta’s inappropriate behavior reached a peak when he groped Tsuyu. This disrespectful move upset many fans and intensified their dislike for him.
(iv) Creepiness with Momo: Mineta’s tasteless behavior extends to Momo as well. His use of his sticky grape Quirk for a piggyback ride on her was both weird and uncomfortable. The fact that he didn’t seem to learn from these situations further fueled fans’ frustration.
6. YUNO
(I) Lack of Personal Screentime and Character Development:
In the manga, Yuno’s character development is somewhat delayed, with significant focus on him occurring around 300 chapters in.
While it’s been stated that he trains hard and achieves much, the audience rarely witnesses this firsthand, except for filler episodes in the anime.
His sudden power-ups can indeed make him appear overly perfect and less relatable.
(ii) Relationships and Detachment:
Up until a certain point in the manga, Yuno’s significant relationships are primarily with Asta and Bell. Yuno’s introverted nature contributes to the perception of him being boring. While he cares about others, his interactions primarily revolve around Asta.
Fans notice that Yuno’s soul seems to exist only within the context of Asta.
(iii) Overpowered Status:
Yuno’s strength is intentional, serving as a foil and rival to Asta.
However, this can frustrate Asta fans who closely follow his self-improvement journey.
As Asta grows stronger and understands his abilities better, the gap between them narrows.
(Iv) The Spade Arc and Missed Opportunities:
The Spade Arc disappointed you due to unexplored emotional depth.
Yuno’s identity crisis, his royal lineage, and his mother’s survival were intriguing plot points.
Unfortunately, these aspects remained largely unaddressed, leaving fans wanting more.

hey can you tell us more about fma modern au? its so cute!! like expand on who uses the arm crutches, why, etc! your art is so amazing, keep it up! <3
Omg this made my day! Thank you so much for asking- I could talk about these boys for ages! I made THIS post, which I call a "modern AU", but it's probably more of a "mid 2000's-2010's" AU, looking at the technology I decided to draw >.<
I drew it cause I wanted an AU where they could be normal, happy kids for once. Ed and Al are such trouble-magnets, I'm sure they'll still get into shenanigans no matter what universe we drop them in though!
They're definitely living with Roy and Riza. I sort of figure that Roy has some sort of government job, and ended up getting temporary custody of them through some "well we need to place them somewhere convenient and nobody else can take them and you live alone and have the space" sort of means, and Riza, naturally sticks around to make sure that Roy doesn't burn the house down. ...and definitely not for any other reason ;)
Roy probably keeps them in a second house to start (cause he's important and can afford one of those)- away from the city to give them time to recover from whatever landed them there in the first place. The house is a bit empty and unused, but the boys are used to small-town environments, so it's slowly becoming a home. Roy, new to parenting, figured he could leave them alone with a couple game consuls and Captain Crunch in the cupboard whenever he has to work and they'd be fine- Riza put a stop to that right away. As they recover, I imagine they'll want to follow Roy to work in the city more and more.
In the meantime, they probably feel a bit cooped up, but get the chance to play some video games and bicker with the girl who lives with her grandmother next-door, whenever she brings left-over stew for them. Ed's not as into playing video games as Al is, but enjoys reading the instruction manuals for some reason, so he'd be an expert if he wasn't so bad with the controls! He, unfortunately, has TERRIBLE hand-eye coordination. Al is a natural though :) Especially in fighter-games, like Super Smash Bros. He does gets uncomfortable around more graphic games, and prefers ones without gore.
I felt that adding the crutches was important- Fullmetal Alchemist is so good at normalizing disabilities, and I wanted to contribute a little to that message! I originally intended Ed to be the one with the crutches (he's actually sporting a prosthetic leg under his long pants!), but as I was drawing, I sort of realized that it would make more sense for Al to be the one using them! Much like in the manga- he'd probably have a bit of a weak body- probably brought on by some sort of medical condition and made worse by not having the proper care due to previous circumstances. He probably doesn't use them all the time, but they defiantly help for long distances. With the change of environment, and help from the people around him, he's getting stronger every day! (Riza is the one that brought them waters to drink while they relax in the living room)

I don't see the “Winry being captured by Barry” thing as a problem in 03, given the way the event was integral to the story, and is part of what, I believe, caused Edward to pull away from people. Things like that happen every day, so I don't mind it being used in a fictional setting as long as it's handled with care. Winry may have been held captive, but it wasn't really that she was being used against Ed. People forget that Barry targeted only women in 03(which some serial killers do in real life). If you’re contrasting her to Brotherhood Winry, you’re failing to see that she was older than 03 Winry was at this point. Of course she would make better judgement at points. When 03 Winry becomes older, she actually becomes much smarter, like researching into Hughes' death along with Sheska. Also, if your going to get defensive of 03 Edward being criticized for being 'childish'(which is a complaint about 03 that I personally can’t stand), you need to realize that Winry too is childish. Edward, just like Winry, fell for the bait that Barry gave him. When Ed approached Barry, whom he thought was a female, he didn't hesitate to walk in the direction Barry told him to go, and turning his back towards Barry let him be knocked out. They both fell for a similar ploy. So I see both Winry and Ed on equal terms in this, because Edward didn't truly stand a chance in it and was just trying to save himself more than even Winry. I consider the trauma Ed faced because of it all too realistic. And I find no actual faults with Winry's writing in it. Also some people think Winry "made Ed go shopping with her", but there's no proof of that. She was trying to cheer him up, from what I could tell, and is visibly worried about him. To clarify my point: Barry didn't use Winry against Ed; they both got caught. And I did really like that situation. It was appropriately terrifying, like any real kidnapping would be. The Saturday Morning cartoons tend to play that off, but it's actually really fucking horrifying so kudos to FMA! Barry also has a much more terrifying nature in 03 in general, and his killing is taken, idk, more serious??? In BH, we’re never made to see the direct impact of his actions, but in 03, we see how it affected both the victims, and the family and friends of the victims, even in how there is a child crying over the dismembered corpse of his own mother, and then Edward is reminded of his and passes out from the Trauma. As one post put it:  --- Winry and Edward are both kidnapped by a serial killer. Not only that but this event occurs during a very emotionally charged time period for Edward. Not only is it his first week in the military, but it’s only a day or two after Nina is murdered by Scar. If you’ve seen the episode you know Edward comes very close to dying and basically reacts the way any child would in the same situation. He begins panicking, losing his cool, and by the end of the episode he’s sobbing his eyes out, frightened by his own helplessness in such a dangerous situation. It’s a very good episode if you haven’t seen it, and if you want my opinion it gives better closure to Edward’s emotional turmoil over Nina than the manga. What’s really interesting however, is the episode directly after this one. As a means of making it up to Winry, who granted was probably just as traumatized, Edward and Alphonse take her supply shopping, and it’s clear if your watching Winry is trying little antics to get Edward to cheer up some, or at least distract him. She picks out especially expensive materials, and makes comments directed at him “You’ll buy all of this for me, right Ed?“ and yet Edward is hardly paying her any attention, in a very pointed way. He isn’t looking at her, he isn’t speaking to her, heck he’s willing to let her just go wild with his research funds and purchase whatever she wants no matter the price. And even with her intentionally trying to get his goat, there isn’t even one snarky little comment coming from his direction. Very un-Edward. You know something is wrong where Winry and Al are the one’s squabbling and Ed is the calm mediator. But then let’s get into their relationship as young adults and not children and the events that go down later in the series. The biggest difference I think between the Manga and 2003 Anime, is that, where in the manga it is established Alphonse and Edward visit periodically and call every now and again, in the 2003 Anime, Edward severs all contact with Winry and Pinako for three years. No calls, no letters, no nothing, and he’s only forced to come back when his automail is completely ruined by Scar, suggesting Edward was going to lengths to repair his own auto-mail as a means of avoiding Winry. This is made even stranger when it’s established that before the incident with Barry the Chopper, not only was Winry visiting Edward, but Edward was also writing to her, something he did not do in the manga. So when you look at it carefully, it appears as though after the Barry the Chopper incident, Edward was attempting to distance himself from Winry. Now why could that be?Well think about it. He’d just witnessed the brutal murder of a young girl he was very close to, and directly after put his best friend in harm’s way and was unable to do anything to help her.Edward in the 2003 Anime pushes Winry away as a means of protecting her. Oh and don’t think Winry isn’t aware of this fact either, as she makes it very clear time and time again she doesn’t enjoy getting the cold shoulder from Edward. ---- While it’s not just Winry that Edward does this to in the 2003 anime, Maria Ross, Mustang, and even Alphonse have their fair share of Edward shoving them away, it shows that everything he’s seen, especially after feeling unable to protect Nina, and then seeing Winry put into such a situation, and being helpless even to protect himself, it does have an impact on him, and contributes to his character. And it’s written with so much heart behind it that I absolutely love it, and truly respect their devotion to it. (Also for Vic fans, he said he actually cried for real when giving Ed’s speech about how helpless he felt) (I really like the Japanese version, but I can tell that there was a lot of effort behind the 03 dubbing cast. And while it has some flaws like any dubbing cast does, it’s one of the best English dubbing casts I know of.)

Who am I.
So @staygclden and I came up with this game that we call "Who Am I" which is a series of compiled questions or statements regarding characters from various animes that explain one or more of the characters or their contribution to the story itself.
We originally created the game in light of our Unpopular Opinion game but decided to up the antics of the rules and thus we created this game.
Just to make it clear to you all playing, there can be multiple right answers or answers in general to a question or a statement. So answer to your best knowledge.
It was not my idea to include which anime the statement or question derives from because it would only make it more interesting (and difficult..) to answer them. So, for the sake of making the game possible on fair ground I am including the anime of which it'll be entailing. You're welcome because I wouldn't have added that without his consistent suggestion..lol. I can be a little unfair sometimes..
Anyone can play this. It's for fun, we were bored and we decided to be constructive with our boredom.

How do you think Ymir's idea/founding of Freedom in 89 connects or contributes thematically throughout the series and how it may come up in future chapters? Or what Isayama has left to address in these final arcs/chapters. Honestly I'd just love to read your thoughts/writings on the characters, the details you've noticed that are tying it all together and where it may end up. (not concrete predictions, your chapter 90 thoughts highlighted the joy in the spontaneity and odd choices the writing)
This question is my new favorite.
The intensely interesting thing about Ymir is that in her story, it is spelled out as explicitly as you ever could ask for that Paradis is her freedom.
Chronologically, at this point in the story, everyone is running around screaming over their home being destroyed. They’re buckling down and racing further inside the walls as fast as they can, filling their cage to max capacity and throwing people out to die so the rest of them can survive.
Ymir opens her eyes in this place, and she sees freedom. She’s alive, and she has her mind back, and there’s no one nearby who wants her dead. She can do whatever she wants, and it’s the most beautiful thing she’s ever seen.
That’s the vision we’re presented with as Paradis comes to grips with the fact that they’re hated by the entire world. Ymir doesn’t see the walls closing in; she looks up at the sky and finds life.
And she opens that statement with how little individual humans matter. They’re sort of meaningless, right? There’s no real value in any of her flailing, or anyone else’s.
Except when she reaches Paradis, she can choose.
She doesn’t matter. There’s no significance to her struggles.
She still has the power to do whatever the heck she wants.
That’s so cool.
What makes it cooler is that what she wants, over and over again, is to protect people. Does it Matter? No. But it matters to her. Historia matters to her. Sasha, Connie, and Reiner and Bertolt all matter to her.
And all of these people live in a world where they are so tiny that they can be smacked down in an instant. Some by titans, some by mean ol’ humans. The girl she’s in love with has a death wish and joins a military branch with the highest mortality rate. The two randoms she saves are alive to live out indentured servitude with a dash of genocide until death.
Ymir still finds personal value in keeping preserving the lives of people she cares for.
It’s particularly telling with Reiner and Bertolt.
She saves them from being executed, but Bertolt still dies his next time out. Reiner barely survives, and he’s now alone. There’s no great end game for them just because she gets them out of the most pressing sign of trouble.
She does it anyway. Even if it’s just earning her people one more day of life, that means something to her.
Ymir’s one of the smartest characters in the series when it comes to personal motivation and basic human emotion. She diagnoses and makes snide remarks about everyone’s issues as a character trait. She’s clever, and sees the big picture, and a whole lot of other smart things.
But there’s a reason that Historia has repeatedly called her simple. Her tactics aren’t about saving the world, or any deep, grand meaning. She just wants certain people to keep breathing. That’s how she ends up revealing her powers to two people who can turn her in (and to the Survey Corps, which never had the opportunity to turn into a problem, but could have easily headed that way), and it’s how Reiner and Bertolt survive to assist in slaughtering the comrades of people she cares for. Heck, it’s why she’s looking at a death sentence.
Ymir has the simple, straightforward strategy of a person who cares deeply, but lives so much in the moment that very basic flaws get pushed aside until the moment where it’s become a problem.
To put it in a way that makes this post easier to write, she’s grown into the kind of thinking that drives Eren in his early days. The difference is that it isn’t the consequences of impulses she can’t control; she’s looked at those impulses and decided that yeah, that’s what she wants to be doing.
That all works together to make her marvelously relevant to the recent happenings.
In my chapter post, I bring up how the question of what will end up winning at the end of this series. Will fighting for your friends be rewarded, or will learning to make hard sacrifices? Or will both those choices end in death, eliminating the conflict.
Everyone cares about this question, right? They’re soldiers, brandishing the flag of humanity’s best qualities and fighting for them. The motives that fuel their cause are never without an answer, but they’re still human. They are thinking of the larger picture, and they do believe it matters, and they want to do the Right thing–but they want their friends to be okay, too. Enter question marks.
Then you have Ymir.
Ymir doesn’t give a damn about that question. She has her answer. She’s going to look after her and hers, and nothing exists that can change that priority.
From a series perspective, that’s incredibly neat.
She’s uniquely personal in all of her experiences. The selfish whims that get constant censure from older and wiser parties are what she’s chosen to build her life around.
What makes that more interesting is that, due to the connection her arc has with Historia, you see the direct way that ripples. Historia happens to be the kind of person who wants to look after orphans and keep people safe--but the only reason that gets discovered is thanks to her deciding she’s not willing to sacrifice her autonomy or her friend.
The only reason anyone survives that is because Eren wants to try believing in himself, and downs the armor vial.
Out of that mess, Historia claims her crown, bringing a peaceful end to the coup, through her personal desire to settle things with her father herself.
Ymir’s particular brand of selfishness is the inspiration for Paradis’ current stability.
There’s this line at the end of the Fellowship of the Ring. Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn stand on the river’s shore, contemplating their very recent failures. Their ring bearer has chosen to go on without them. The fate of Middle Earth is seemingly beyond their hands.
“Then it has all been in vain. The fellowship has failed.”"Not if we hold true to each other.”
Then, you know, holding true to each other leads to there being a Middle Earth left for the ring bearer to try saving.
On the surface, the Serum Bowl, following up and concluding Erwin’s arc, is about adhering to the responsibility the Scouts have as humanity’s, and learning to let go despite the great personal agony.
That lesson is presented, and it’s made very clear that all of its good sense loses in the face of how much Erwin means to Levi (and arguably how much Armin means to Eren). Levi, who is responsible for dragging Erwin back to the side of the greater good, flies right in the opposite direction.
So we’ve got all of this angst for easy pickings, and I think a... possible key concept skates on through without standing out too much:
How much do individual lives matter?
After the 104th makes its way back to the walls post-kidnapping arc, Eren looks around at all of the lives sacrificed to get him back. It isn’t the first time, and it might not be the last.
Jean, being Jean, adds his two cents.
“Whether you’re really worth paying that kind of price... is something I still don’t know. As to whether the people who were killed to get you back died for nothing... That depends on you now, doesn’t it?”--51
It’s a fair statement, if a bit demanding. That’s what Eren’s position means, though. He’s humanity’s hope thanks to his abilities. That’s why so many people die trying to get him back; there’s a real chance he can do something against the titans in a way no one’s been able to for a hundred years.
Of course, it turns out, smack dab in the middle of Historia’s arc, that the powers Eren has could be more useful in someone else’s hands, and he self-destructs over his appalling lack of value.
But the part about it being Historia’s arc is important, not just a side effect of me name-dropping her at every opportunity.
In the moment Eren tells her to eat him and save humanity, he’s thinking of himself as a tiny human being with no significance. He isn’t humanity’s great hope; he’s one more instrument keeping them chained. There’s no reason for him to stick around keeping that up.
Historia rejects that on every level.
She doesn’t save Eren because she’s thinking about humanity and what he can do for them.
She saves him because he’s her friend, and she’s his. She saves him because in a world full of terror and trauma too big for either of them to bear, Eren’s emotions reach her, and it doesn’t matter what he isn’t. He is her friend. He can be insignificant, and ineffective, and sure, maybe someone else could do his job a little better than he can, but Eren, as a person, is still valuable.
Flying further down the road, that’s a similar philosophy to what his mother tells Shadis.
“He’s already great. Because he was born... into this world.”--Carla, 71
The desperate need to Matter isn’t a requirement. A human’s worth is argued for through their ability to be alive.
In the huge, ongoing fight for humanity, the lesser concept of humans is not treated as lesser. Humans make up humanity, and each one has a life of value that can’t be replicated or repudiated.
Bringing this back into a post that has, like, a point or something, that presents a new side to the argument of individuals versus the world; without individuals, there can’t be a world.
And once you’ve gone there, you bring in the FMA concept of humans continually looking out for each other on a person-by-person basis, which eventually turns into everyone being excellent to each other and etc.--
--Which finally brings us back to Ymir.
Who owns looking after the little guy.
A pastime that gives Paradis a Queen, and keeps the First King’s philosophy separate from the Founding Titan for the first time in over a hundred years.
Um. I think that’s it. Thanks a million for the compliment and the ask, and pardon the ludicrous bouncing around this post does.

RULES: Always post the rules. Answer the questions asked, then write 11 new ones. Tag 11 people to answer your questions, as well as the person who tagged you.
I was tagged to do this FMA-centered tag by both @greedoda and @ladywiltshire, thank you soooooooo much!!
I kinda don’t want to do this twice though, so I’m going to take my favorite 5 questions from each of yours and answer those - I hope that’s okay! There are also two questions you both had that were the same so I’ll do those too - a total of 12! You lucky nuggets.
Okay, so, the questions under a read more!.......I WROTE WAY TOO MUCH and there’s a lot of analysis....I got really really carried away. :B
Greedoda’s questions:
1. Which two characters do you think have the best dynamic in the series?
Personally, I have to say I love Ed and Ling’s dynamic? They make a great team and they’re such dorks! The couple of episodes where they’re stuck together in Gluttony’s stomach are two of my favorite episodes. As well as just, how they go from Ling pissing Ed off monumentally (I mean, he does set his “goons” and/or “lackeys” on Ed during their first meeting XD) to being just the closest bros, looking out for each other to the end (which I guess definitely includes Greed as well)! It’s a dynamic I wish we saw more of in the show, if I’m being totally honest. They’re two of my favorite characters, and all of their interactions were hysterical.
2. Would ed like milkshakes?
Actually I think it’s canon that he does!! During the episode where he’s trying to get Scar’s attention by going around and fixing things with alchemy, he’s shown afterwards drinking a milkshake with Al and laughing about how he’s “pretty sure everyone in Central knows his name by now”.
3. Favorite character development?
SCAR’S. OKAY??? SCAR’S. Don’t even get me started, holy shit. We, as the audience, start by thinking of him as just this cold blooded murderer, then we realize he’s Ishvalan, which gives him motive, but we still don’t particularly like him, you know? But that’s only in episode five!
Throughout the whole show we learn more and more about him, we watch him falter for killing Ed when he throws himself in front of Winry, remembering his own brother doing that for him. We see him bring along Yoki, for apparently no reason at all?? Like, Yoki just runs after him and he could kill him, especially since Yoki caused him trouble! But, he doesn’t? And then May comes along and you can see him accepting her and starting to care about her and listening to her and making sure she’s safe. You see him fight alongside Ed and Al because he HAS to, You see him bring along Marcoh despite all the things Marcoh had done to his people - despite Marcoh begging him to kill him. You see how Winry’s binding of his wound (though not forgiving him) affects him because he doesn’t think he deserves it. You see how his attitude is changed further by Miles, until, by the end, he’s honestly one of Ed and Al’s strongest allies. He rallies a group of Ishvalans to help during the Promised Day. And then joins Miles in trying to reform Amestrian’s view of his culture - HOW CAN YOU NOT LOVE SCAR I DON’T EVEN. !!!!???
4. Favorite villain?
Okay, I’m honestly not sure if Greed counts, so other than him, definitely Envy. I just love that good-for-nothing garbage lizard. *shaking head* They’re so complex!! I think a lot of has to do with their attitude - the sarcasm and condescending yet cheery tone of voice they always sport makes them oddly endearing and funny, despite how much a terrible person they are. And then to find out all of this hides tons of insecurities because they’re jealous of humans. They pretend to be so much and so powerful and unstoppable but they feel like the most inferior worm (and they are - literally). I just...yeah I love their character!
5. What fma merch do you want, or wish existed?
I REALLY WANT AN FMA BLANKET. Like, just something simple, like red with the main crest on it, or something. I know they exist! I also really want a poster!
And now for the Lady’s:
1. Do you remember your first time watching or reading Fullmetal Alchemist? What was your first impression?
I remember the first time I ever saw it (not watched), I was passing my sister on our home computer. I distinctly remember seeing a young girl in pink with a lot of braids and a tiny panda bear making something glow like blue lighting (*choking noises*) and I asked my sister what it was and she said “Fullmetal Alchemist” and I was like “Oh” and brushed it off because she’d talked about it before but I wasn’t interested? (wtf was my problem??). But maybe a few months later my friend watched it and at that point I just had to. The hype was real when I finally started, and the hype was even bigger for Brotherhood. I remember being halfway through 03 and watching the first FMAB opening and just getting chills, I couldn’t wait to get to it, and boy did it live up to my expectations and more from episode one.
2. Tell me about a scene that really touched your or made you realize something about yourself.
My first thought is immediately the episode “Interlude Party”. I mean, I know that episode is pretty much just a summary of what’s happened so far, but the bits in between with Hohenheim talking to Pinako, to baby Trisha, to especially the part with Hohenheim getting overwhelmed by Father, who stands there laughing at the “puny foolish humans” who live only to die, so they may as well use them - and we can see the shadows of the dancing morphing and turning into something...else - followed by Trisha interrupting this train of thought by that’s what makes humans strong. The fact that we die. The fact that we change. And the fact that that’s what makes us so undefeatable, because we don’t give up. And this is followed up later with Envy being jealous of humans, because of this very same reason - our resilience and determination against all the forces against us, including ourselves.
And I think that that’s so true. And that gives me strength to keep going.
3. Funniest headcanon you’ve ever seen. Go!
Okay this is definitely a tie. The first is the one where huge rumors sprout up about Ed after the Promised Day and everyone bombarding Fuhrer Mustang about all these far fetched things until Mustang finally says something like “Edward Elric is a 30-something-year-old-man living in Resembool teaching his daughter how to make apple pies” or something like that. The other is the one where Ed is in Xingese history books as “the man who fed the emperor a shoe”, for obvious reasons. That’s just. GREAT.
4. What spurred you to join the fandom?
Actually, it was totally on accident! There was a long, long part of me and my tumblr experience that believed FMAB was NOT my favorite anime. And then I started realizing, I posted a lot of it on my blog? Like, instead of random FMAB between the multifandom mash of cringe and zero tagging systems, it started to become FMA that I saw the most of on my dash and blog. And I realized, like someone had flicked me in the face, that wtf, this show is actually so important to me and where would I be without it???
5. Have a fandom meltdown here and tell me why you love your fandom or show/comic so much!
AAAHHH everyone here is SO nice and I’ve managed to keep my dash (mostly) discourse free! Everyone is so supportive of each other and have the same passion as I do for this show. There are SO MANY talented artists, including musical artists, which is amazing, and SO MANY funny things and funny memes that come from this fandom. I’m honestly so glad I’m a part of it, even if I don’t contribute much myself other than screeching in my tags!
And here, the two you both asked!!
1. OTPs! Who are they? Edwin is top of the list!! I’ve shipped them all the way from the beginning, and to see them come together in canon - and in such a NERD WAY - I just love them so much. I also ship Lingfan, Almei, and Royai!
2. Favorite opening/ending number and why?
My favorite opening is Opening 3, Golden Time Lover, for a L O T of reasons. The way it goes from the soft melody in the background to the much harsher tones above just convey all my feelings for it, because this opening is both soft, and rough and to me it just perfectly conveys the stories’ struggle, and the journey forward. The elements of the zooming in and out, the sweeping camera angles, and the sudden changes in the action between teasingly slow and choppily fast. There is SO much contrast in this song, and in the animation to match it. Literally, this opening is a masterpiece and thinking about it makes my heart race.
My favorite ending is Ending 2, Let It All Out. GOD THIS SONG. Wow. It just, tears at my heartstrings a little. A lot. First of all the animation is stunning. Secondly, the lyrics are just, amazing. “There’s no need to pretend you’re so strong” and “Let’s turn our pain and tears into stars”??? Jesus christ, how lovely is that?! And how it changes from half screen to full screen with the climax of the chorus. The emphasis on Ling, Lan Fan, and Fu, and  then on May, as well as Ed and Al and Winry. The way it STARTS with Winry. It just symbolizes strength in such a simple way - through the fear of what living has done, what it could do, and still being able to move forward. It’s a very powerful song to me.
OKAY! And since that took me over an hour to answer (I regret nothing and thank you both so much for giving me the opportunity to gush without restraint...) I’m not going to tag anyone or make new questions myself. Frankly, I’m too tired and my imagination is spent. XD
I hope you all enjoyed reading this! Thanks again! Love you all!
