Rewatching ep.29 of Love Between Fairy and Devil: Part 2

That humble little Orchid who thought her root was damaged and was less than everyone in the fairy realm, now walks and people kneel, calling her their “Queen”. And she is still humble, asking them not to bow to her. How can one not love her?

Jieli listens to Xiao Lanhua talking with Shangque about her. How nice she is and how they both have to protect and take care of her. Jieli must be feeling pretty bad for what she did to Xiao Lanhua.

Oh no, the bracelet.

Xiao Lanhua sees herself as Chidi in the mirror. Her spirit is slowly taking over her.  

I honestly have no recollection of this scene! Xiao Lanhua is being weird and DFQC realizes there is something wrong. I love that DFQC knew immediately she was not Orchid.

It’s devastating that DFQC has never had the chance to live freely and experience emotions. When he was little, his father had to torture him to make him get rid of them. Now his brother accuses him of being weak because he finally has emotions after all these years and he can no longer yield hellfire. Xunfeng is not wrong. DFQC is expected to be the powerful Moon Supreme. The sole hope of Cangyan Sea. Him being happy makes him vulnerable. His existence is reduced to that of a weapon, an object, who shouldn’t have a normal human experience, for the sake of his people. What a burden this man has to carry on his shoulders.

Cancellation grief getting going again this morning...I still really wonder about the timing of djenks' death-knell post. It seemed so soon after the first official cancellation. I trust there were good reasons he likely had to do it - I really trust him, and yet...what was the rush? I wonder if we'll ever get even anything close to the full story. It just seems like a totally fucked situation, whatever it was. Ow. I miss them.

I am super fucking pissed about Wee John in this last episode.

Why. The. Fuck. Was. He. Not. Included. AT. ALL. During. The. Escape??????????

Legitimately, where the fuck was he? I was fuming for a lot of that because he's my favorite character, so I was looking for him. While everyone was stripping the English of their uniforms and getting dressed up (at least partially) in disguise, he is the only character not included.

They make a point about Fang not getting a proper shirt, which already pissed me off enough, that he had to wear what was essentially prison stripes while everyone else was in uniform, but Wee John wasn't even there. He wasn't in the raid. He wasn't in the run down the beach.

He just wasn't even fucking there. And if it was something Kristian decided he didn't want to worry about hurting himself over, particularly looking out for his back and knees, I understand not asking him to run over and over again for reshoots. But the fact that he didn't even get dressed with them... and that's the second time he's been excluded from a plan apparently due to his size (remember that he didn't get to participate when The Revenge dressed up as rich boys for Nigel Badminton)...

It is legitimately breaking my heart. One of the things I love about this show is the love is gives to its fat characters and actors. Fang gets to have his tummy out 24/7 and he's treated like a snack by Lucius, Wee John got to have an incredible dress, Oluwande is the crew's most eligible bachelor, and we even got a delightful fat character in 2x07 who spent his whole time dressed in only some leather halters and pants...

But the fact that Wee John was singled out and left behind, and the fact that Fang was singled out and othered at that very same time... It fucking hurts. As a fat person who has loved getting to see so much love for fat bodies... it stung to see that the comedy couldn't even suspend its reality long enough to say "there are a few fat people in the Royal English Navy, so Wee John and Fang get to be dressed up too."

Laura saying this is the tone of animated mighty nein makes me scared too ; ; However I will say, if we're leaning into the darker aspects a little more, then...maybe there's chance we get to see more of Molly wrestling with those nightmares of the Eyes and Lucien's influence early on, or more glimpses of Lucien backstory and character arc, which could be interesting--

it does make me absolutely terrified for the circus man though ; ; all I can say is, I hope that we at least get to spend a bit more time with Molly before we lose him--I still remember being grateful that the animated recap didn't actually show Molly's death, and I really think there's a chance I'll just not be able to watch that episode of the animated series at all, but...on the bright side...because he's Molly, he'll still have some moments full of joy and love.

And with his and Jester's playfulness, the silly banter between party members, all the adorable bonding moments with everyone in the Nein--I do hope they're able to keep that kind of lightheartedness when they need it :'))
