Draupadi (Goddesses, Rishikas & Women)
A/N: Well i did want to share it here first because this will be a part of the published version but anyway this will be under editing later on so why not share it with you all
“Sakhi? Panchali, wake up.” I feel a gentle hand caress my hair. The touch is as soft as the lotus petals I used to wear around my neck. The fragrance of sandalwood and tulsi leaves fills my nostrils, and I forget about my aching, bloody wounds for a brief moment.
My eyes open slowly. It feels exhausting to even lift my eyelids, but I do. The voice calling out to me resembles my Krishna’s, my best friend, and my truest companion. And amidst the snow-capped mountains of the majestic Himalayas and the dried rocky pathways, I wake up to the beautiful smiling face of my friend.
Dwarkadheesh Vasudev Shri Krishna. He goes by many names. He will gladly accept any name as long as you bestow it with love and affection. My sakha has never been hungry for riches and power, but love is what ties him to everyone, even though he is the invincible Vishnu.
I raise my hand towards him. My vision blurs, but I can make out the angry bruises on my wrist. Krishna gently clasps my hand, his touch feather-light, and maybe that touch alone could heal all my wounds—physical, mental, and spiritual. Mustering all my remaining strength, I sit up on the rocky surface, overlooking the white mountain range. The sun behind me casts its golden rays on Govinda’s face, illuminating his handsome dark features, while the blue peacock feather glimmers as if dusted with gold specks.
Something wet touches my dusty feet, and I move my eyes down. To my horror, I see blood—Krishna’s blood—flowing like a river around my foot. I panic and look up at his face, only to see him smiling as if we are seated in the shallow waters of Yamuna in the summer.
Without thinking, my hands find the ends of my torn and tattered saree, so I may dress his wound when Govinda holds my wrist. Looking up, I see him shake his head, saying, “Do not land me in debt, Sakhi." I am to depart soon.”
The dark blood pooling around my feet swirls along the circular, ring-like pattern on the rocks. “Govinda, you are bleeding so much. Let me dress your wound for one last time. You have helped me so much in my lifetime, Sakha. Consider this a thank you.”
My friend does not let go of my hand. I see a few tears shining in his beautiful lotus-like eyes. “And you bleed too, Sakhi. You haven’t seen your own wounds, and you are on your way to treat mine.”
I look down to the ground at the dark blood staining my clothes. “It was and is my destiny to bleed, Govinda.”
“No more, Panchali. You shall rest.” Krishna wistfully looks ahead, his eyes watching the high peaks of the Himalayas, where the last rays of the sun now shine.
I asked him a question. “Do you see my husband?”
“Did they see you fall to the ground, Draupadi?”
I go, mom. A cool gust of wind slaps my face; the cold air brushing through my skin pains my wounds even more, but I am too tired to groan and grimace at it.
Both of us go quiet. The dried blood on my skin, combined with dust and gravel, makes my skin look ashy. There was a time when I used to bathe with rosewater and fragrant oils. Even in all my years of exile, I would always find a clean pond or a lake to bathe in. I wonder how I look.
Draupadi of Panchal, the queen of Indraprastha, was once the most beautiful woman in Aryavarta. My beauty created ballads, and princes and kings from faraway lands sought my hand in marriage. The maiden with midnight hair who smells like the fragrant blue lotus, whose curvy limbs delight and enchant the eyes, is now nothing but a woman with tangled hair and ashy skin adorned with dust, pebbles, blood, and grime.
I am the blue lotus covered in mud.
“So, is this how it ends?” I ask Krishna, my voice timid and slow.
Moving his eyes from the sun, he glances at my face. His eyebrows arched like a bow as he said, “An end? Sakhi, this is the beginning.”
I am not as wise and enlightened as the man sitting right across from me. But I am aware of his words and their meaning. I fold my legs and bring my knees to my chest. Resting my dry cheek on my knee, I reply, “Govinda, I am aware of the beginning. This is the beginning of Kaliyuga, the period of great advancements for human civilisation and also the darkest for human morals and principles.” I pause. I place my palm over my chest and take deep breaths. The wisps of air remind me of the final breaths I have before I fall to eternal sleep.
I will die speaking. Maybe the word is questioning.
“Is this how my story ends? The woman born from fire will merge with dust.”
“All our stories end the same way, Draupadi. We will turn to ash and merge with the earth. This is the destiny of our body.”
The fire of life still burns, though the flame is tiny. “That’s philosophy. I know the historians, scribes, and poets have already begun writing stories and poems about us and the war. What will they write about me? About Draupadi?
When alive, this Draupadi was blamed for the war. My humiliation was a sacrifice, so the grand tale may play out and the balance of virtue and sin may remain steady. They will write about my valiant husbands and their forefathers, of the mighty Kauravas, of the faithful Gandhari, and of the single mother Kunti, who lovingly raised the sons of her co-queen too. But Draupadi—she is the beauteous woman that shall cause destruction—for beauty is sought by everyone, and everyone yearns and lusts for beauty.
And it is a secret pleasure for beauty to be a tragedy. A beautiful bloom must bloom alone in the deep, wild forest. A beautiful golden deer must be shot. A beautiful woman must be abducted, and in some unlucky times, her modesty must be outraged. This is what Draupadi’s tale has been. A beautiful woman born from fire burned and bled thoroughly only to die pitifully and have the world remember me as the queen whose modesty was outraged in front of a full court. That’s how they remember me, don’t they, Govinda?
They keep writing poems about how the helpless daughter of fire sang and cried, her arms outstretched to the skies for her sakha to save her. They perform to loud drums and ominous beats to show how I was close to nakedness amidst hundreds of men and sing songs of bravado, so the Draupadi on stage shall pledge to bathe her hair in blood.
Draupadi, the woman, was wronged. Panchali, the enchanting beauty, will pave the way for destruction. Yajnaseni, the woman born from fire, is destined to burn throughout her tale. Panchami is the chaste wife of five husbands. Ah! Such an irony.”
I feel my eyes sting with unshed tears as the dark moon-like face of Krishna blurs in front of me. I add, “Perhaps Krishnaa is my true name, my true identity. The dark maiden is radiating purity and honour, but even that is an irony. Purity and honour are foreign concepts to me.”
And for the first time in my life, I interrupted Govinda. “No, you shall not console me. I have been the daughter, princess, sister, queen, and mother. I have lived through the same ending every time. I know what the world thinks of me and what the next generation thinks of me. Today, I let go of every name and every relationship. You are to depart Bhuloka, and so do I, so I, with great pain, let go of my true name, Krishnaa.” My trembling fingers trace the brown dust on the rocks. “I have never asked you for a gift, Govinda. Can I ask you one now?”
I see Krishna wipe something from his face, but my blurry vision fails to observe if it is dust or tears. I hear a crack in his voice as he nods.
Channelling all the remaining life force flowing through my veins, I breathe for one last time. I can feel the burn in my chest, but before I am to go to the world after this, if at all it exists, I must burn off every tie with this tale, of this flesh, of this blue lotus-complexioned Draupadi.
“May they remember me as a glorious queen, as an ambitious princess, as a gentle daughter, as a faithful wife, and as a loving mother. A few blemishes on the moon do not rob it of its beauty, and I am the daughter of fire. Fire provides warmth to those it loves and lights the path for seekers. Fire has guarded my life; let that not be full of revenge and vengeance in someone’s pages. May someone see this Draupadi as a woman, a simple woman at times, and not as the harbinger of war. My story must not be limited to tragedy, Vasudev. I have found moments of bliss, love, and happiness too. May that adorn the pages of my life’s story too. I don’t want to burn and bleed anymore. I have had it enough. I am tired. I want the fire inside me to grant warmth, not revenge and wounds. I-”
***
Vasudev Shri Krishna, the mastermind behind the golden city of Dwaraka and sometimes considered the mastermind behind the war, watches the dead body of his sakhi on the harsh, rocky bed. His bleeding foot has coloured the ends of her pristine white saree in deep red.
Draupadi’s body has turned cold. The wounds on her head and limbs have dried. The last of her tears have left wet trails on her cheeks, and Krishna gently closes Draupadi’s dark eyes.
“Death was the only peace she needed,” Vasudev says to himself, covering her body with his yellow shawl as harsh, cold winds start blowing around them.
He wonders if the red stains on her feet are blood or her favourite red dye that she applies every day to her hands and feet. The sun has set at last. The valiant Pandavas have departed for heaven, though only Yudhishthir will reach heaven in his body. The others must have fallen somewhere around the mountains, Krishna thinks as he stands up, his head reeling a little due to the blood loss.
It’s serene and quiet here. The mountains have been a silent witness to history. The sky is lit up with dazzling stars, and the golden-white moon looks like an enchanted glittery veil of Draupadi. Admiring the ethereal vast skies surrounding the majestic mountains, Krishna spares one last glance towards a sleeping Draupadi, whispering his last words to her, unheard by everyone.
“I know what you wanted to say before your soul flew out of your body, dear Sakhi. Your story shall not be limited to the incident at the court. There will be at least one person who will not only see you as the woman wronged. Someone will write more stories and poems about your mind, intelligence, and strength than about your matchless beauty. Oh, daughter of Drupad, you will be seen as the woman you are, as Krishnaa, your truest name. With this, I bid you farewell once again before we meet at another Mahabharata. Sleep, my dear Sakhi.”
The twinkling stars, the shining moon, and the chilling winds of the Himalayas have been the listeners to Krishna’s last words for his friend. They watch him descend the mountains, his lovely feet leaving red trails in the snow.
Draupadi sleeps peacefully under the stars, just as she used to sleep during all those years of exile in the forests.
There will be another Mahabharat. That is destiny—unchangeable. Wars and bloodshed are bound to happen, and every time, a Draupadi will arise from fiery, vengeful flames. She has to bleed and burn. She has to pave a path for righteousness to prevail. Great deeds demand sacrifices, and sacrifices demand pain.
But this time, Draupadi will be remembered as a glorious queen, as an intelligent princess, as a woman who grew wise with years, as the woman who learned to control the flames of her life and destiny.
I pay homage to you, Yajnaseni. As long as this world remains, may your strength be celebrated, may every woman be honoured, and may your flames never die out.
--xxx--
This piece was inspired from Yajnaseni written by Pratibha Ray (highly suggested to read this book by her. I loved it more than the palace of illusions)
TBH I have no idea how and why i ended up writing this, but maybe this was krishna's doing and draupadi's wish. I was chilling around until one moment I remembered Draupadi and thoughts spiralled, Krishna came up, my kindle version of Yajnaseni stared at my face, and so here's the result.
Thank you for reading. I would love to hear your views which will help me edit (and also motivate me to edit the book for publishing hehe)

☀ SHRI KRISHNA GOVINDA ☀
“O my Lord, Your holy name alone can render all benediction to living beings, and thus You have hundreds and millions of names, like Krishna and Govinda. In these transcendental names, you have invested all Your transcendental energies. There are not even hard and fast rules for chanting these names. O my Lord, out of kindness You enable us to easily approach you by Your holy names, but I am so unfortunate that I have no attraction for them."~Sri Shikshashtaka

Samantha Karen Fox was born on 15 April 1966 in Mile End, East London, UK. Her parents were Carole Fox and Patrick Fox and she's got a little sister named Vanessa Lai Fox.
She started out as a nude model for "Page 3" of British tabloids when she was still 16, and in 1983 Sam was said to have her breasts insured for $500,000.
In 1983, she recorded with her first band, called SFX, the songs "17 and Holding", "My Old Man", and "Aim To Win" but they never broke into the charts. Sam went back to being a top model, but returned to the music business in 1986 as a solo artist.
Dismissing the notion that she was all pin-up looks and no singing talent, "Touch Me (I Want Your Body)" went to number one in 15 countries in 1986, and she had seven other Top 10 singles, namely "Do Ya, Do Ya (Wanna Please Me)" (1986), "Nothing's Gonna Stop Me Now" (1987), "Love House" (1988), "I Surrender (To The Spirit Of The Night)" (1987), "I Only Wanna Be With You" (1988), "Let Me Be Free" (1997) and "Santa Maria" (1998).
In 1995, Sam Fox created a band, called Sox, to enter the song "Go for the Heart" in the Eurovision song contest, but the UK public gave them only 65,436 votes, 4th place, not enough to represent the UK in the finals.
That year, she made a cameo appearance with Indian actor Govinda in the musical comedy Rock Dancer (1995) - and her blonde beauty in a brief stage white costume was in most lobby cards in all Indian regions.
As of 2002, Sam ranked #81 on VH1's 100 Sexiest Artists.

On March 20, 1964, George Harrison attended the midnight premiere of Charade (at the Regal Cinema in Henley-on-Thames), with Hayley Mills and her mother, Mary Hayley Bell (who had won the date with George at a charity fundraiser).
“Once there was a film premiere and Brian [Epstein] thought it would be more appropriate if George turned up with Hayley Mills on his arm rather than me, so she was his date for the night. I felt crushed.” - Pattie Boyd, Hello!, August 31, 2004
“It was an extraordinary experience being with George, because he had such a magnetic quality, and it wasn’t just because he was a Beatle — that helped, of course. But there was something extraordinary about George. He was very composed, he was very calm, and people were just drawn to him. […] People were crawling up the aisle with their autograph books in their teeth to get to George. […] [Once back home] My dad opened the door at three o’clock in the morning, and there we were, standing there, […] [and her father asked if he’d like to come in for some scrambled eggs] So George said, ‘Oh, yes, I’d like that.’ So we went down to the kitchen […], and my dad made scrambled eggs, which I’d never seen him do before in my entire life. And then George got up, and said, ‘Well, I’ve got to rush now because I’m moving home at half past four with Ringo, the police are giving us an escort.’ And he left. Years and years later, I met George and his lovely wife Olivia at the Chelsea Flower Show, and we remembered that night and laughed about that night. And he told me then one of his favorite memories of all time was having scrambled eggs cooked for him by John Mills at four o’clock in the morning.” - Hayley Mills, BBC Breakfast, September 3, 2021
And, on a Wonderwall Music related note... Hayley’s son, Crispian, is very much influenced by George’s music:
“[When I was 11 or 12] I was listening to George Harrison a lot, which introduced me to Ravi Shankar on sitar. […] [One of my inspirations is George Harrison] Mystic Beatle, cultural and spiritual ambassador to solar system.” - Crispian Mills, Rolling Stone India, December 10, 2008
The Kula Shaker song “Gokula” samples the Harrisong “Ski-ing” (from 1968’s Wonderwall Music). Crispian sent George a tape of his track and received George’s blessing for the sampling, per 1996 news reports. Another Kula Shaker song, “Govinda,” takes its name from the title of a Radha Krishna Temple track produced by George. (x)

What happened to Radha after Krishna left Vrindavan?
Wise devotees know that neither Krishna ever leaves Vrindavana nor Srimati Radharani ever separates from Krishna (vṛndāvanaṁ parityajya sa kvacin naiva gacchati- Adi Yamala Tantra).
Can musk be ever separated from its fragrance? Can moon be ever separated from its moonlight? Can fire be ever separated from its burning property? It is certainly impossible. But apparently, it seems as if they have separated in Their manifest pastimes (prakata lila). The inconceivable pastimes of Sri Radha and Lord Krishna certainly cannot be understood by human intellect.
So, taking shelter of Their manifest pastimes, let me describe what has happened to Srimati Radharani after Krishna apparently left Vrindavana. Following are the divine ecstasies of Sri Radha, who is the primeval potency (para shakti) of Lord Krishna.
Please see what condition has befallen Her.
Sri Radha says as follows
moribo moribo sakhi niścoy moribo
kānu heno gunanidhi kāre diyā yābo
I will die, I will die, O sakhi, I will surely die. How it is now possible for me to attain Krsna, who is an ocean of all the qualities?
tomrā joteko sakhī theke majhu sange
maraṇa kāle kṛṣṇa nāma likho mora ange
All you sakhis, that are staying with Me, please write Krsna's name on My body as I die.
lalitā prāṇera sakhi mantra dio kāne
morā deha pore yeno kṛṣṇa nāma śune
Lalita, My life companion! Please utter the mantra in My ear, so that I hear Krsna's name when my body burns on the pyre.
nā porāio mora anga nā bhāsāio jole
morile tuliye rekho tamālera ḍāle
No, No, please don't burn My body, and don't throw it in a river. When I die, then keep it around the branch of a Tamala tree.
sei se tamāla taru kṛṣṇa-varṇa hoy
acetana tanu mora tāhe yeno roy
This Tamala tree has the complexion of Krsna. Let my unconscious body dwell on it.
kabahu se piyā yadi āse vṛndāvane
parāṇa pāyabo hām piyā daraśane
If My beloved ever returns to Vrndavana, I will get My life back by seeing Him.
puna yadi cāńda mukha daraśa nā pābo
viraha anale māho tanu teyāgibo
If I never see His moonlike face back again, I will give up My body in the fire of separation.
kohite kohite dhanī murachita bhelo
dhāi viśakhā tāre kole kori nilo
When Radha spoke thus, She fainted and Visakha came running to take Her on her lap.
thara thara kāmpe anga khīn bohe śvās
nāsāgrete tula dhari dekhaye niśvās
Her body trembled strongly and only a very thin breath came from Her mouth. The sakhis kept a cotton swab in front of Her nose to see if She was still breathing.
śravane vadana dei kohe kṛṣṇa nā;ma
cetana pāiyā kohe kāhā ghana-śyāma
They uttered Krsna's name in Her ears and, regaining consciousness, She said: 'Where is Ghanasyama?'
sanmukhe tamāla heri kore nirīkhan
unmādinī hoye yāy dite ālingan
When She sees a Tamala tree ahead of Her, She stares at it and embraces it like mad.
aichana dhanīra daśā kori nirīkhan
govinda dās bhelo sajala nayan
Seeing such a condition of Radha, Govinda dasa simply stares with tear-filled eyes.

Mystic Poetry of Sant Jayadeva from the Adi Granth and Gita Govinda - Spiritual Awakening Radio Podcasts
Tumblr media
Says Sant Jayadeva: "In the very beginning was the Primal Lord, unrivaled, the Lover of Truth and other virtues. He is absolutely wonderful, transcending creation; remembering Him, all are emancipated. Within my mind, I chant the Name of the Primal Lord God, the Source of virtue. My vision, that You are I are separate, has melted away."
Sant Jayadeva is one of the earliest Sants known to history. Jayadeva was born during 1170. He's known to the Sikh tradition as Bhagat Jaidev. He was a Sanskrit "loner-poet" who lived during the 12th century and is celebrated for his poetic genius in eastern India. He is the author/composer of the epic poem known as Gita Govinda (The Hymn to the Custodian of Light). Sant Jayadeva is the earliest dated author of hymns that are included the Adi Granth! Today during this Sant Mat Satsang Podcast you'll hear readings from, Unveiling the Garden of Love -- Mystical Symbolism in Layla Majnun and Gita Govinda (Sufi Mysticism and the Teachings of Sant Jayadeva in the Gita Govinda). And then, I share readings from the Mystic Verses of Sant Jayadeva: Gurbani by Bhagat Jaidev in the Adi Granth, one of the earliest known Sants: Hymn # One on Page 526 of the Adi Granth with commentary, followed by the reading of Hymn # Two on page 1106 with commentary.

[excerpt from] "The Song to Rain Clouds" by Kōtai-Āṇṭāḷ
8.1
Clouds spread like blue cloth across the vast sky Has Tirumal my beautiful lord of Venkatam, where cool streams leap come with you? Tears gather and spill between my breasts like waterfalls. He has destroyed my womanhood. How does this bring him pride?
8.2
Clouds that spill lovely pearls what message has the dark-hued lord of Venkatam sent through you? The fire of desire has invaded my body I suffer. I lie awake here in the thick of night, a helpless target for the cool southern breeze.
8.3
So easily they left me my lustre, my bangles, thought, sleep I am destroyed. Compassionate clouds I sing of Govinda’s virtues lord of Venkatam, where cool waterfalls leap. How long can this alone guard my life?
8.4
Clouds bright with lightning tell the lord of Venkatam upon whose lovely chest Sri resides that my supple young breasts yearn everyday for his resplendent body.
8.5
Great clouds rising into the sky climb high, rain hard on Venkatam scatter flowers brimming with honey. Ask the one who tore the body of Hiranya with his long nails flecked with blood to return the conch bangles he took from me.
8.6
Cool clouds heavy with water rise high and pour down on Venkatam, home of the one who took the world from Mahabali. Tell that Narana he entered me, consumed me, stole my well-being like a worm that feasts on a wood-apple Tell him of my terrible disease.
8.7
Cool clouds place the plea of this servant at the feet of the one with beautiful lotus eyes him who churned the ocean filled with conch. Beseech him to enter me for a single day to wipe away the vermilion smeared upon my breasts only then can I survive.
8.8
Dark clouds ready for the season of rains chant the name of the lord of Venkatam who is valiant in battle. Tell him, like the lovely leaves that fall in the season of rains I waste away through the long endless years waiting for the day when he finally sends word.
8.9
Rain clouds rising like great war-elephants over Venkatam what word has that one who sleeps upon the serpent sent for me? The world will say: ‘heedless that he was her only refuge he killed this young girl.’ What honour is there in this?
8.10
Kotai of the king of Puduvai, the peerless city, desired the one reclining upon the serpent and sent the clouds as her messengers to the king of Venkatam Those who place in their hearts these verses of Tamil sung by her of luminous forehead those who sing these words of Tamil will be with him forever.

"The Sign of the Upright." Introduction to the Vasudeva Upanishad, the Exploration of the Mysteries of the Horse.
Tumblr media
The Vasudeva Upanishad was written around 300 BCE. It numbers 77 of 108, and is contained in the Sama Veda. Horses in Vedanta as in other religions are not positive omens. Without a skilled rider, they have the connotation of being as wild as demons.
The Horse called Vasudeva was said to have been the mount of Lord Krishna, an incarnation of the god Skanda, the god of justice who came to earth to deal with a king who cheated his way to his crown. This resulted in the recitation of the Bhagavad Gita to his kingdom and then subsequent slaughter of everyone who supported the cheater.
It is my hope to encourage the same thing to Donald Trump and every Republican who helped him cheat his way into office after the debacle with Blue State Digital in 2016. As in Krishna's day, the Department of Justice and the contender need to get up off their asses and fight.
Everyone associated with the first Trump Campaign and Administration that knew about those fraudulent election proceedings must be put to death. Donald Trump must be made an example of. There are no excuses for interfering with election results or allowing a man who was not legally elected to become the president or to pretend all is well and allow him to run for election again.
This along with Donald Trump's unfathomable popularity are signs the human race is in grave danger from corruption and something has to be done.
The Vasudeva Upanishad begins with an analysis of what is called an Urdhvapundra, "the mark of the upright", which is worn by persons who have entered the priesthood and are decorated in preparation for temple proceedings.
The Pundra proceeds from a dot, the mind, and emanates three rays of light, one each for the Holy Trinity of Hinduism, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, "Adoration, Grace, and Kindness."
Om. The God like sage Narada saluted Lord Vasudeva and requested him, “Oh God, please teach me the rules of Urdhva Pundra (the religious mark of Vaishnavas which is vertical and points upward)”.
God Vasudeva addressing him told as follows:
2. The Brahmachari (unmarried student of Vedas) and Grahastha (householder) after reciting the following prayer: “Oh God who holds the wheel, mace and conch, Oh Achyutha who is staying in Dwaraka, Oh Govinda, Oh Lotus eyed one, please protect me, who has surrendered to you.” should apply Urdhva Pundra in his forehead and other 12 places with his pure finger (finger next to the little finger) reciting either the Vishnu Gayathri or the 12 names of the Lord viz., Kesava, Narayana, Madhava, Govinda, Vishnu, Madhusudana, Trivikrama, Vamana, Sreedhara, Hrishikesa, Padmanabha and Damodhara.
A Vaishnava is a member of a school of Hinduism who studies the Ramayana and Bhagavad Gita along with other texts closely associated with Rama, Krishna, and stories of their worldly pursuits. A Shaivite studies a slightly different approach but both kinds of priests believe in one non-dual Holy Spirit that animates the universe out of Great Grace.
The Upanishad mentions there are 12 names one must understand in order to consecrate the mind to the Self of this Holy Being.
Kesava: long hair or anything that belongs to Krishna.
Narayana: the Sustainer.
Madhava: sweetness.
Govinda: the chief herdsman.
Vishnu: the All-Pervasive.
Madhusudana: destroyer of the honey demon.
Trivikrama: master of the three kinds of order.
Vamana: pain of vomiting, the better half of humanity that is retained after it renounces evil.
Sreedhara: the highest rank.
Hrishikesa: Lord of the Faculties.
Padmanabha: the Lotus Naveled. Hndus believe the tingly place under the belly button has special significance.
Damodhara: master of the sacred thread, the red thread of the priesthood.
All twelve names pertain to aspects of the ways the Upanishad mark the mind and turn it into a vessel that is pure, fit for the duty of service in the Name of the Most High.
The Upanishad  will continue.

Verse 10.19 - Vibhuti Yoga
श्रीभगवानुवाच |
हन्त ते कथयिष्यामि दिव्या ह्यात्मविभूतय: |
प्राधान्यत: कुरुश्रेष्ठ नास्त्यन्तो विस्तरस्य मे || 19||
The Supreme Lord said:
I shall now briefly describe to you my divine glories, which are prominent, O best of the Kurus; for there is no end to their extent. (BG 10.19)
This verse begins the section where Shree Krishna reveals some of his infinite opulences to Arjuna, who had requested him to do so in the previous verse. Shree Krishna addresses Arjuna as "Kuru-shreshtha", or the best of the Kurus, indicating his affection and respect for him. He also uses the word "hanta", which means "alas" or "indeed", to express his compassion and wonder at Arjuna's eagerness to know more about him.
Shree Krishna says that he will only describe his divine glories briefly, because they are innumerable and impossible to enumerate fully. He implies that his glories are not limited to the material world, but also pervade the spiritual realm. He also suggests that his glories are not static, but dynamic and ever-expanding. He is the source and sustainer of everything that exists, and everything emanates from him.
By describing his divine glories, Shree Krishna intends to increase Arjuna's devotion and knowledge of him. He wants Arjuna to realize that he is not an ordinary human being, but the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who has descended on earth for a specific purpose. He also wants Arjuna to appreciate his beauty, power, wisdom, and love, which are manifested in various ways throughout creation.
Some of the Vedic texts that have similar verses or themes are:
- The Vishnu Sahasranama, which is a hymn consisting of a thousand names of Vishnu, each describing one of his attributes or activities. It is found in the Mahabharata, in the Anushasana Parva (chapter 149). One of the verses is:
विश्वम् विष्णुर्वषट्कारो भूतभव्यभवत्प्रभु: |
भूतकृत् भूतभृत् भावो भूतात्मा भूतभावन: || 1||
He is the universe, Vishnu, the one who pervades everywhere, the cause of creation, maintenance, and dissolution, the creator, supporter, and controller of all beings, the self of all beings, and the one who bestows existence. (VS 1)
- The Svetasvatara Upanishad, which is one of the principal Upanishads that deals with the nature and attributes of Brahman, the Supreme Reality. It is part of the Krishna Yajur Veda. One of the verses is:
न तस्य कार्यं करणं च विद्यते न तत्समश्चाभ्यधिकश्च दृश्यते |
परास्य शक्तिर्विविधैव श्रूयते स्वाभाविकी ज्ञानबलक्रिया च || 19||
He has no effect or cause; none is seen who is like him or superior to him. His power is diverse and inherent; it consists of knowledge, strength, and action. (SU 6.8)
- The Brahma-Samhita, which is a hymn composed by Lord Brahma in praise of Lord Krishna. It is considered one of the most authoritative scriptures on Vaishnava theology. One of the verses is:
अनन्तंसंसारसमुद्रतारनौकायिताभं गोपीन्धम् परमानन्दकन्दम् |
सर्वानन्दकन्दं परमानन्दकन्दं गोविन्दं परमानन्दकन्दम् || 5||
He is the boat for crossing over the ocean of material existence, the Lord of the gopis, the source of supreme bliss. He is the source of all bliss, the source of supreme bliss, Govinda, the source of supreme bliss. (BS 5.56)
