I'm so glad that I made this very difficult trip with my sister. She is my other half and life would be terrible without her. I can't be positive if this was taken at the time I'm thinking but I wouldn't be surprised but I had the worst migraine of my entire life as I waited for my grandma to leave us. My sister checked on me periodically.

This relationship

So I was jealous, I envy people's relationship with God. I really like to hear people's testimonies and I saw how the people are shining through the storm thanks to God. This was written in Matthew 5:16 Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. I saw that light and I wanted the same thing. And immediately, self-pity thoughts came in, I victimised myself “I will never be able to be like them”, "I will never be pleasing to God”. I even thought that God is going to ditch me for someone better, that I’m not worthy and b l a h b l a h. Actually at that time, I was blocking the comforting/positive thoughts, cause I wanted only to be negative. I self-pitied myself, clearly. The thing is that the negative thoughts, they are not only negatives, but they are also a LIE. You can imagine the kind of thoughts I had, the enemy found the opportunity and was having a feast.

All of this JUST because I saw, in my own eyes, a relationship much better than the one I had with Him. How easily swayed I was. And I didn’t even see the process I went through anymore, all those times when He was with me even when I was so into sin. That His Grace and Mercy were (still) present and I had the nerve to say that He’s going to ditch me. SMH. I didn’t realise that His love NEVER CHANGES. Even when the people of Israel sinned so much, He was ready to punish them because they sinned, BUT His love has never changed actually. It’s like a parent to his child. Of course, they need to correct the child if he’s doing wrong, but does it mean that they don’t love him anymore? That they are ready to give him into adoption? No.

Now, not only that His love never changes, but also I realise that my relationship with God CANNOT and WILL NEVER be compared to other’s. Because we all have different background, history, experiences, so what He has shown X, is not the same thing He showed to Y. We all have a different type of relationship with Jesus and that cannot be compared. It’s not “yours is better than mine”. Even with my family member, we all have a different kind of faith (though we still need to work on that faith/relationship).

I needed to remember that a relationship is not something that is going from 0,00001% to 99% overnight, in an instant (99% cause you will never be perfect). This is not how it works. Also I realise that my relationship with Him is actually ALIVE thanks to those “issues” (though I don’t think they’re something to be proud of). A relationship might goes up and down, but at the end of the day what is important is to strengthen it and not to be separated. This is quite a human definition but this is how I view my relationship with Him. I remember how I prayed that I don’t want anyone to pollute my relationship with Him, but I was the one who did it. I brought the relationship He had with someone else, into our own (it's weird to put it like that but God is for everyone but your relationship with Him is private/unique, well you get what I’m saying). I brought third parties into something that was in a process and I was ready to give up JUST because my eyes wandered into someone else’s plate.

During that moment, I remembered this scripture “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus” Philippians 1:6

God is saying FOCUS on US, not them.

(MAN LOOK AT the Passion Translation: I pray with great faith for you, because I’m fully convinced that the One who began this glorious work in you will faithfully continue the process of maturing you and will put his finishing touches to it until the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ!)
