The familiar sights of New York City slowly gave way to the rolling hills and verdant forests of Connecticut as the taxi cruised along the highway. Tall trees swayed in the wind, their branches heavy with raindrops, while patches of fog clung to the road. The hum of the engine and the gentle patter of rain against the windows, the smell of old leather and stagnant cologne, created an unusually cozy cocoon, shielding those within from the weather of the outside world.

Gazing out at the rain-soaked landscape, there was a familiar sense of comfort in the dreary weather. The usual scenery was now shrouded in a soft gray mist, the colors muted and subdued.

Picture perfect as far as Lydia Deetz was concerned, and she could hardly wait to take her camera out and start snapping away.

It's one of my favorite things ever and anytime I'm in a big city, I like to pop on my headphones and blast this- it pulses and thrums like a chaotic metropolis and feels like steel, rails, and urban gridiron with the occasional glimpse of exiled green.

And for bigger chills, there's a version of this recorded by The London Metropolitan Orchestra that is dizzyingly, Copelandishly gorgeous.

i wish i could tell people i love them without fearing that it would come across as too forward or /r or whatever. i love the people around me so so much but ive never found a tone tag that means "this is completely serious and you dont have to do anything about it and it's not something im trying to overwhelm or guilt-trip you with. i just love you because you exist in a space adjacent to me and i love you" because it doesnt exist. theres too many words there to ever be said.

Neither Here Nor There by Mordelle!

It's my favorite movie verse Beetlejuice fic and it's definitely what got me back into the fandom a few years ago.

It incorporates some of the toon's backdrop into it but succeeds in giving it the tone of the movie and the premise is so good and feels like a believable sequel to the movie to me.

I really enjoy Spotify Wrapped day on the social media. They built a robot to give an attention-craving / attention-desperate online population just a sliver of attention, and it’s thrilling to watch how we all light up from it.  They gave a plant just a drop of water and we’re watching it flower.  

I enjoy the Taylor Swift fans being told how many minutes they listened to-- I like seeing them process that information in their own ways (derogatory).  I enjoy seeing people’s 3rd favorite band because that’s usually the one I’ve never heard of and am like, “Oh I should check that out” (even though people’s third favorite always turns out to be the weird “they were going through some things over Labor Day” one).  I like seeing all the people who describe themselves as being “roasted” or “murdered” by being given a list of songs that they liked. “I’ve been exposed.”  I like when people’s top 5 favorite artists don’t have anything in common, like “oh they only listen to classic do-wop songs or screamo Halloween get-murdered rap.”  I love when people admit that they listened to 980,000 minutes of music from January to November or that they’re in the Top 0.8% of listeners to any one song, the Flintstones Theme song, the weirder the better.

I enjoy that the Spotify robot is obviously broken because I’m sorry, I did not listen to as much [CENSORED] as you’re claiming I did, robot.  Your numbers mean nothing to me-- I live my own truth!!! 

And then all the people who don’t use Spotify get to enjoy being smug, which is also fun-- the “actually I’m too cool for school-- did you know that Spotify was a *corporation* actually?” people, they’re having a good time too; the Lord loves a hater.  Those people are having a great time saying they’re better than people like me who’d rather keep our money instead of handing it all over to the Bon Jovi Corporation of The Americas.  “You wanted to enjoy the miracle of music while also saving money in a country about to plunge into the 2023 recession?  Disgusting."  I dig their whole buzzkill vibe, even if it’s a different kind of fun than the one I’m enjoying.  

The other December holidays (except New Years Eve which is legit) are all creepy and religious and boring and mostly sad-makers, if you look around at what people go through.  Spotify Wrapped Day is mostly good!  (My heart grieves for the folks who feel “murdered” by hearing how many times they listened to Silk Chiffon though-- I think it’s a nice song, but R.I.P, I guess?).
