ok so i’ve been reading some long ass fan fics recently, and they’re both very old and definitely not relevant anymore but idc imma talk about them

both of them are written after dan and phil both came out which is what i wanted, don’t ask me why, i guess it’s this bizarre reasoning i have to reading fics about real people, so if that matters to you, there ya go.

ANYWAY THE FIRST ONE

called “butterfly”; dan is a “winged man”, which is basically a person with wings who needs to occasionally drink blood to survive (not a vampire) and phil is a normal person who is very intrigued with winged people.

winged people are ridiculously powerful and extremely misunderstood cause humans hate everything they don’t understand. obviously.

dan starts off as extremely shy and scared and low key stupid (in the most adorable way ever) and eventually you see why…

the writing isn’t the best imo, but it’s not that bad and the plot makes up for it completely

phil’s pov (ngl phil pissed me off most of the time cause his obliviousness got very annoying at times but still it’s great)

angsty but not too bad imo, with some smut but barely any, and some fight scenes

kind of slow burn but kind of not; it’ll make sence when you read it (and you will read it 😡😘)

there’s SO MUCH ELSE to it but i don’t want to spoil it hehe

this one i’m still in the middle of reading, so the summary obviously won’t be perfect, but i love it too much not to talk about . it’s called “monochrome”.

it follows two storylines that connect to each other: dans video game world and dans irl world

first, dan plays this game called “fall whisperer” and as a person who doesn’t play video games, the way they write it is incredibly enthralling. it follows the game play and dans relationships with the people he has met online through the game.

the game is metaphorically tied to dans irl life, which follows his relationships with his friends, family, therapist, his fwb, and of course, eventually phil.

dan is monochrome and phil is bright and colorful. obviously.

the writing is good, it kinda reminds me of someone trying to act like they can write better than they actually can, and i mean that in the best way possible, cause same bestie. it’s the only way to do it; ya girl loves a good metaphor (there are a lot of metaphors)

VERY angsty, but in the sence of dans extreme mental health issues, not in the sence of relationships etc

VERY SLOW BURN but look forward to the flirting-not flirting that dan and phil got going on cause it’s adorable 10/10

more smutty than “butterfly” but not so much it takes away from the story; sex is used as a way for dan to escape his mind so it makes sense.

Voiceplay Visuals: Hoist The Colours

Oh boy, we're heading into the big ones now!

Hoist The Colours was uploaded on September 18, 2021, and features Jose Rosario Jr in his second collaboration with Voiceplay. This one stunned a lot of reactors (one of them, Dennis King of King Family Reacts, literally got up and left the room after the video was finished because he had been rendered speechless by it!), and the video currently sits at 4.6 million views (close to 4.7!) (EDIT/UPDATE: as of the night of the 8th of March, it's now at 4.7, close to 4.8!). So without further ado, let's get right into this one, and hope I don't have to start paying attention to my screenshot count!

Can you believe this was only Cesar's second (full-length) video as a full-time Voiceplay member? Because wow

(Also interestingly enough, Rick Underwood is credited with makeup in the video description (shoutout to Rick!) but no one is credited with costuming, so did everyone just acquire their outfits themselves or what?)

Geoff was in charge of the video creation for this one, as well as doing the arrangement, and he worked together with Eli for the lighting design, so big shoutout to Geoff! (And as always to Eli the lighting whiz)

OKAY a few things to talk about here

First of all, love the set design, it's like the Little Mermaid Medley but on steroids and more pirate themed! Also love the horn-playing skeleton on the left-hand side of the screen (took me a while to notice it ngl 😅)

And of course the outfits/costuming! I can't really think of a lot of things to say individually right now, but there was 100% a lot of thought and effort that went into the clothes (even if the description won't specify who acquired the clothes. I'm going to assume Geoff, since the overall video credit goes to him.)

Oh hey it's my blog banner/background, or close enough to it at least! (Hoist The Colours has a decent few very cool visual moments that are totally screencap-worthy, and of course that's what I'm here for - to point them out!)

Geoff may play the villain (or otherwise just-generally-creepy/spooky/scary guy) a lot in videos, but as of the last few years at least, Eli's often been looking like the one that you really don't wanna pick a fight with. (Also cool ring, and is that fake scar tissue on his head?)

This is a better shot of everyone's outfits actually. A few notes on everyone (except Eli, who I just talked about?)

Cesar: Very ghostly, especially with the cloudy contact lens in one eye. Love the white coat/jacket, and love the pop of colour with the red sash! Also what is he holding/shaking? I thought it was a set of old-fashioned keys, but it doesn't look like it.

Jose: The "captain" of this "motley crew", obviously. Cool coat, and love the sword.

Layne: Not too much going on with his outfit, relatively speaking, but I love the bit of eyeliner under his eyes, and the fake scar on his cheek! (Seriously Rick did a great job here, as he always does)

Geoff: Wearing at least two necklaces, and in true Geoff Castellucci fashion, he's got the top two buttons of his shirt undone (well, gotta show off those necklaces! 😉😁). ALSO, bonus thing that I literally only just realized after taking this screencap, is that Geoff has "VP" on his right arm, done in a way that makes it look like like scar tissue I believe.

That is seriously a very cool and very smooth transition. Who edited this? Was that Geoff too? (Also Crazy Eyes Layne!)

As I figured, one of the necklaces Geoff is wearing, the gold one, is for costume purposes, and the other one, the silver one with the diamond-shaped pendant, is the necklace from Kathy that Geoff basically never takes off (bless him <3 )

Hang on that skeleton on the left lost his little horn/trumpet and got stabbed?? 😅😂

Yeah Layne had fun in this one I can tell 😁 (also his vest is more detailed than first appears! Very nice!)

What a really freaking awesome shot/moment. In terms of "money shots", these two might in fact be two of the most awesome stills from any Voiceplay video ever (or so far, anyway).

He's got charisma, I'll give him that (also cool necklace!)

How are they just an independent acapella group that make YouTube videos that we can all watch for free? Like seriously, this is top tier stuff (both in terms of the video and the song cover itself), but this wasn't even Voiceplay at their peak! Voiceplay doesn't have a peak! They don't stick to a lane, they take "risks", they get creative, they will sing pretty much anything, and it works

Voiceplay says in the description "we may have gotten a little carried away with this one", but honestly would it really be Voiceplay if they didn't?

Gonna talk about my writing project but in typical ‘dahl talks about their wip’ fashion it’ll be extremely vague and won’t make any sense lol I just really need to say this, especially now that I'm so close to the end and it’s been something I’ve been feeling for a while too

so the further I get into the project, the more I feel like I've ventured so far from the original inspiration of this story and it makes me a little bit sad.

I wrote the original version in 2021 and looking back at it, it’s a completely different story than what I’m writing now. it was silly and lighthearted which… is not at all what its current state is like. I’m not entirely upset about it, because this new version has so much more substance and I'm extremely proud of it. I feel like I'm finally saying something and the message overall is really meaningful to me.

last night, I realized how I should title the story. Usually that’s a great feeling. Titling is one of the hardest things after all. But honestly it just left me even more conflicted. For the longest time I thought I knew what the title would be: something very similar to the original title (cryptlandia, the reason why i often refer to it as ‘cryptids wip’, which is extremely ironic bc the story doesn’t even focus on cryptids much anymore). That plan won’t work anymore though, because it no longer fits the tone of the story. Another reminder of the story’s evolution. I’m debating something different now, something more sincere, which has me feeling like I’ve completely lost the heart of the story.

Idk on one hand I’m really happy and proud of how this story’s evolved, but ngl it also hurts to see it shift so far from what i originally wrote.

⭐️3. Show us your oldest piece of art you have on hand

→ It was a real trip down memory lane to look back on some of these, but here's a sample of some old things from 2021-early 2022! (Prior to posting on social media in Aug 2022) Back then, I didn't have any real incentive to improve my art outside of drawing quick sketches like the pictures above. I had issues being cleanly (due to lack of motivation), committing to learning character details, and more LOL. →Fun fact, I drew on a very tiny 11 inch screen 4GB RAM laptop with horrible color calibration for about 3 years until finally getting something better in early 2022 too LOL. It might be noticeable in some of the above pictures with the color choices being a little too light or too saturated, LOL.

→As also seen at the bottom of this post, It might come as a surprise that I also draw fanart for my favorite assorted fandoms outside of megaten too, LOL. I just never post it in public since they're meant as warm-up doodles!

To be honest, 2020 thru late 2022 was a very low point in my life. I had given up on all creative endeavors at the time due to: My career, being diagnosed with a bodily issue of which the effects I still deal with even today, and other personal issues.

It truly wasn't until late 2022 (when I started posting online) that I truly felt confident picking up my tablet pen again and view art in a more positive light…!

NGL I had written out my entire life story here but ended up deleting it--it would have made this post terribly long regardless LOL💦 Perhaps it'll be a story for another time, though!!🙏 And it absolutely has to do with why the Samurai husbands mean lot to me!

⭐️18. What is your purpose for drawing?

→ That's a good question! For me, (especially due to my visual agnosia) it'd have to be the ability to draw whatever comes to mind with skill and precision. To not hold back and draw whatever comes into your mind's eye without fear or hesitation from others (or your own critical inner voice)… And to be able to properly convey the meaningful themes of your work as clearly as they come into your mind... That, to me, is true freedom.

➡️As for BL content: Despite not posting much of it in public (yet), my purpose in drawing BL (or OTP content in general) is to transmit feelings of love + warmth in my art! To depict tenderness, warmth, and love with affectionate, natural-looking body language to make it as believable + realistic as possible...That's always been my goal! →The world is a scary place out there. Though, if my OTP content can make someone feel a slight glimmer of peace, tranquility, or even hope to keep moving forward...then I'll be incredibly happy!🙏💕 It's always my intention to convey nothing but sweet wholesome vibes and warmth with my pictures, and I truly hope that feeling comes across too. ➡️I'll be super candid and say I actually really enjoy angst and raunchy content as much as everyone else! But drawing wholesome + sweet characters in love just comes much sooo much easier and naturally as breathing to me, LOL. Just because I don't post angst or raunchy things, doesn't mean I dislike it! ☝️

→ I tend to gravitate towards professional artists with thick painting (厚塗り) coloring styles, dynamic illustrations, and artists that have a strong grasp of anatomy, character design and storytelling! It's hard to pick just one, so here's a brief selection of ones that come up at the top of my head right now!

(2019)- Phoenix can't find his shirt at Miles' place 5) Litigation in the Streets... (2021)- Miles and Phoenix become the subjects of tabloid gossip NGL, I'm not surprised that my top rated fics are NRMT, they're oldies but goodies! I've definitely grown as a writer (not to mention grown UP since these were all written when I was 18-20), but it really is lovely to see that they're still getting love! <3

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? OMGOMGOMGOMG!! Yes!! I love doing it because it lets the commenter know that I've seen their comment, and that I really do appreciate them! No matter how old a fic is, I will comment back as soon as I get that email, haha! In all seriousness, it's my way of giving back a kudos, a sort of "kudos to the reader" if that makes sense. They really do make me smile and I like to print out some of the comments that made me cry happy tears and save them in a scrapbook so that I can read them when writer's block hits me. Also, commenting brought my some of my greatest friends <3

What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Ohhh DEFINITELY I Dreamed A Dream (2022)!! Not only is the title from the Les Mis song of the same name (where Fantine's life is just absolutely ruined), but I did the one thing I never thought I would be able to do... I KILLED one half of the otp!! It's a RyuuSusa fic, and of course, Major Character Death, proceed with caution!

What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? Oooohhh this is a really hard one since I'm such a sucker for happy endings! I think the one that makes me the happiest now is from The Caterpillar Man (2022). It's a fic I wrote to sort of conceptualize Yujin and Susato's relationship when the former came home from the original study trip, and it takes place over a year and among other tragedies and growth. It's from the perspective of Susato, and I think it's one that still makes me tear up (and I got fanart based on it once!!)

Do you get hate on fics? I've never been John Phoenix'd which is very rude, am I not GOOD enough for you DaKoolGuy?? but in all seriousness, I don't really get hate on specific fics, but because I'm so vocal about a certain pairing (being Ryuu X Susato.... if I'm not supposed to ship, why game make so cute?)

Do you write smut? Not on Ultraviolet_Ink, but I do on Infrared_Quill! Fun fact, Infrared got put on a blacklist when I only had one work, and Ultraviolet wasn't on it, I found it quite funny XD

Do you write crossovers? The Journal of Dr. Yujin Mikotoba (2022-????) is just one giant crossover with ACD canon, and I'm planning on having Raffles and Arsène Lupin making an important appearance in the future! It's very self indulgent XD

Have you ever had a fic stolen? God I hope not

Have you ever had a fic translated? Not to my knowledge, but I do have a blanket statement saying that I am a-okay with a translation of any of my works!

Have you ever co-written a fic before? It's always been in the "omg we should totally do this" phase, but given how I am with my own works, I feel like I would be a nightmare to work with XD

What's your all-time favourite ship? Honestly... It's between HomuMiko and RyuuSusa, especially since that's just what I've been writing recently XD

What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? That's a good question that I don't have a single answer for XD I have a notepad full of a WIP list, but I think one that intrigued me when I first started off was this sort of continuation of the JFA 2-4 bad ending, just kind of coming from the ashes and then De Killer eventually kills Phoenix for betraying Matt Engarde (just because of the principle). It's really interesting to think about, but I honestly don't know how I could workshop it, and I remember stopping because It made me too sad haha! If you come across this and like the idea, please feel free to adopt this bunny, no credit needed! I'm not the first person who came up with a continuation of Miracle Never Happen, and I'm sure I won't be the last!

What are your writing strengths? I think I'm getting a lot better at dialogue, especially since I have a very good friend who helps me workshop them through a sort of RP! I would say that I'm also good at making a sort of vibe/ambiance, I know how to dress a scene B-) (Yes I was a theatre kid)

What are your writing weaknesses? Dialogue is also something I struggle a lot with, but I would say I get into my own head too much, and I over think and try to over explain to cover up "holes" (Cracked.Com owes me reparations for this)

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I'm a linguistics nerd, I love writing dialogue in other languages! I even wrote a fic entirely in Latin because I wanted to practice (Miles et Phoenix Romae Sunt (2021)). That being said, you have to use more than Google Translate, I've studied and majored in Spanish, so I'm confident enough in my own skill to write, but I don't really know German despite English being Germanic! So, while I do use Google Translate to get a base understanding, I try to run it by a native speaker, or at the very least, someone who has studied the language, to see if it makes sense haha. Or don't, I'm not your mom, and we're all just doing this for shits and giggles XD

First fandom you wrote for? ...... Oncest Those journals filled with Oncest have been burned since 2014 in the traditional "middle schoolers host a bonfire at the end of the year" that my friends hosted, and they will never see the light of day XD But then again..... how ba-a-a-ad COULD it have been? Tbh, I do regret getting rid of them, not because they were actually lost Great American Novels, but they were something I created and I could look back on and see how I've grown and what I've just stuck with over the years XD

Favourite fic you've ever written? It's honestly a tossup between The Journal of Yujin Mikotoba and The Caterpillar Man! I just love playing around with the empty playground canon left me haha

So I haven’t really posted anything actually spoilery yet but this will be!

Musical daddy Clark truly unreal. I love the opening number so much. I love how much dancing Lauren got to do this show, the joy on her face alone makes me want to cry. She and James had a bit in the opening number we love that duo. She and Joey also have a part in that choreo where they’re looking at each other and that was the moment I was really like oh god this is their first married SK show. Also I know I already brought this up but Joey wearing his ring for Bob is one thing, him wearing it from the very top of the show is NOT okay. I also shouldn’t be allowed to sit close to Lauren because I always get distracted, before it’s been her scars and her ring this time it was her sparkly eyeshadow fun! Also istg Lauren seems smaller every time I see her and the height difference between her and Joey seems worse.

Gift of the magi made me CRY. I forget how good Curt’s voice is and Janaya’s we KNOW is phenomenal and they were just so sweet together. And guys I cannot stress enough how amazing and hilarious this Joey Lauren Brian trio is like it MAKES act 1 for me. The whole song of that part Meredith posted on her story is SO funny. Also I’m fucking in love with Lauren’s costume in act 1 but even more so after the show she accidentally threw it off her head in that part.

L/J/B open little match girl and that song will not get out of my head. I’m not sure between Brian and Joey if the choreo was ever 100% perfect but we all know it adds to the charm. Lauren had to nudge Brian into the right place one show which was v cute. Ali is incredible and I’m so so happy to have her in a full length SK show again (but Lauren understudied match girl and ngl I would kill for rehearsal footage to hear those songs in her voice). This story was such a good showcase of how well SK combines the humour and the emotion.

Scrooge makes a little cameo in both of the stories which sets it up so well, and then the act 1 closer sets up for christmas carol.

I absolutely loved watching Meredith in the band and it’s so special how happy and proud she looks of her friends.

AJ’s scrooge is great and he brings a lot of fun little things to the characters, I think I just have a soft spot for Dylan’s scrooge because I have a soft spot for him that I don’t have for AJ.

The night Curt forgot his very first line in Bah Humbug and just said “yeah!” after Janaya was too funny and Joey put a hand on his back like “it’s okay” they’re all very cute. Honestly though that was probably the biggest fuck up. Joey is just like so so good as Bob obviously it’s perfect casting but it’s perfect casting.

3 spirits was even cooler the way it was staged this time.

Jaime’s I’m the ghost choreo was even funnier. Also nothing can compare with the Brian/Lauren siblings (finally!!) but Lauren was little sister again and was even cuter than last time, she had a little leg pop that was adorable and funny and then a little giggle at the end. And I remember being excited for Joey’s Fezziwig and then being like but he literally has one little part in that song, but he really did have fun with it and he had a cute interaction with Clark and Mere.

I love that scrooge with Curt and even after the 2021 show I’m still in disbelief over Janaya’s voice.

Christmas electricity is just the best fucking thing to see live the energy is so good. I did miss Lauren and Brian starting the song off (Clark was back to singing more of the interludes and we love Clark but there were a few I missed). AJ really was funny in this song. James slays so fucking hard. Lauren was wearing the black boots which I’m obsessed with. But she left early to make her quick change and THAT was when it hit me that I was about to experience the first married priceless.

And truly what to say. There were some ways it wasn’t as bad as previous versions, “this soil is rich” certainly no longer had THOSE implications. But literally just the fact that they *are* married and Joey’s wearing his wedding ring just got me even harder than I thought it would. There was also an EXCESSIVE amount of hand holding. And you’d think I’d be okay after the spin in the 2021 show but they did it in their slow mo section this time which was worse. And if that wasn’t enough, in the last show he spun her TWICE more in the last chorus in a way that definitely was not choreographed which you could see in Lauren’s face and I just. We KNOW they’re both phenomenal actors but we know even more that every bit of that is *real* and I will never recover. I say it every time but I cannot thank Clark enough for writing such a beautiful song for them. And at the end of the song Joey leaned his head on hers and I just looked at him and was like, that is a man who could not be happier performing with his wife. Also I absolutely think he tried to kiss her head the first show but she walked away. He was also the last to leave the stage at the end of the song and he was very proud husband/dad about it all. Jamie and Brian both *consistently* made Lauren break though which is always funny. Also in the first show there was someone in the front row who I think was not participating in cratchit family sing along so Lauren went right up to them and was singing right at them and then Janaya also shout-sang “priceless” at them. Which reminds me I do love that they got their hand mics back for this song. Also the last night Joey fucked up the part where they’re leaning out and wasn’t looking at Lauren when she was looking at him so she was acting offended but then when he did look at her they giggled and I love them endlessly.

Jim and Della became the couple in final ghost which was perfect. The decision to have Joey come out for the cratchit part holding tiny tim’s care bear was fucked up. Lauren leaning on his arm, also fucked up.

There was a new section in christmas day for Jim and Della which was really sweet, and a match girl appearance with an extra couple lines. It did mean we had to lose turkey boy which is kind of a tragedy because it means we’ve never *properly* gotten it live, but I do love love that they tied all the stories together like that and the emotional payoff was so good. We had Lauren donation man and her and AJ were really funny in that bit. Lauren had an entrance while the Bob and Scrooge bit was happening so watching her wait there like a proud wife for him to come and take her arm was 🥺

All that to say this is such a special show and the new additions are perfect and you should absolutely get a digital ticket!!!

About a year ago, Sal/coffeorderwrites posted a 2021 Glee gifmaker appreciation with positive vibes all around that celebrated this undead fandom’s creatives. I was honoured to be featured on there; at that point I had barely contributed anything to this fandom and didn’t really consider myself a part of the tumblr Gleeks. I hadn’t known about this very much alive community that’s still on here, still making edits and sharing thoughts and is so supportive. Being included on there was, in many ways, my first step towards where I am now in terms of the fandom. And though Sal isn’t on tumblr anymore (but maybe lurking!), I wanted to spread some positivity this year as well.

Despite the show having been off the air for 7 years now I feel like we’ve had a good year and had so many people either continue to contribute or come join this space as a newcomer. I’ve seen so many wonderful creations and I wanted to shout them out and remind all these people that their work is appreciated. Now, I’m focusing on just gifs in this post but this fandom creates so much and I very much encourage shoutouts to fanfic and meta authors and artists and anyone you can think of. Feel very free to add to this post or make a new one and spread the love. Also please do add gifmakers as well if you feel I’ve missed anyone or anything. It’s entirely possible and I do want everyone who added to Glee’s longevity to be appreciated. The thing is when Charles starts on pole they can’t do those strategies because either Carlos refuses or he is not great enough and it fails.

Because still right now while Charles is a bit behind in quali (no confidence in the car) he is still better in race pace. And his race craft help tremendously for Carlos to keep his position.

So everytime it’s Charles race that has to be compromised. Already in 2022 we could see that.

Now Carlos who needs confidence in the car but also in himself can be on a high. And I agree Charles might stay behind in the standings. Could have been different with no mechanical failures and Ferrari fumbles that caused him two penalties for impending but… 🙄 Carlos is lucky I guess (i would say his side of the garage is just better because I don’t believe luck is a great explanation for 99% of what goes on at Ferrari). Charles lost some points when he tried too hard or not enough a few races back, we could sense he was frustrated with the year and the car. But after Monza and even today the faith he has in the team still… I guess he knows something we don’t.

I just need Ferrari to listen to his feedback and listen to him more than Carlos. We know Carlos prefers a car that will be slower. The field is coming together now so they need to be able to extract everything and that mean not an understeery car.

I fear Carlos recent form will get us back to 2021-start of 2022 : no first driver, Carlos resisting orders … the situation needs to be clear right away. Or Charles needs to be more like Carlos and do his own thing, but he won’t. Like today you’d think Carlos came up with the strategy, while Charles is barely acknowledged but he is the one who started on softs and who asked for the free pit stop but was denied. (Ooops I’m a bit mad again, the lack of ambition in this team. Yes let Carlos take p1 and don’t do a 2019 again but maybe trying to get both car on the podium for a top team is not completely out of reach?)

(In my wildest dreams Ferrari and Carlos would also acknowledge Charles work today, because without him we would be looking at Lando 1st win or Merc back on top that’s a given. We really need to work on teamwork and recognizing it, it’s crazy).

This is why I'm so frustrated—it's less about this one singular win (although, assuming Red Bull bounces back like nothing ever happened in Japan and this remains the one and only non-RB win in the entire season then obviously the optics will be massively skewed to Carlos's benefit) and more about what this means on a larger scale in terms of how Ferrari operates and their future long-term trajectory.

Carlos's own ambitions and ego have gotten in the way of maximising results in the past. I don't see how that's going to change any time soon, especially now when he's buoyed by recent events. When the same is asked of him there's always an excuse and/or bargaining, "don't ask this of me," "stop inventing," "I can go faster just give me [x number of laps]" etc. I mean, we all remember Silverstone, and at that point the championship was still technically on the table even in spite of all the setbacks. Having seen what we've seen over the past few seasons I frankly don't trust him to go above and beyond in the team player game in a high stakes, high pressure scenario, like how Checo worked with Max in Abu Dhabi 2021.

Ngl it was so funny to see the team be so deathly afraid of an undercut they pulled off completely inadvertently back in 2019, lmao 😭😭😭 Fall back 3 seconds behind, 5 seconds... And yeah, failing to pit Charles under the VSC when he was willing to go for it... still feels like they're struggling to make decisions under pressure and are unwilling to gamble even when 1. it's what the driver wants, 2. they're not risking losing a win because Charles was already at a disadvantage after the initial hold-up in the pits. If it had been the wrong call then it would've been on Charles, but seeing how quickly the Mercs closed up on him and successfully passed him on fresher tyres... Feels like they're committed to making the exact same mistake over and over again with him. I've lost count of how many times he's made the right call, was denied/overruled, and then it turned out they lost out that way.

And yeah, it sure seemed like it was Carlos and Lando who were the Ferrari teammates that day with their little agreement. Like, I get it, they're friends off-track, and they can celebrate however they wish, but in terms of on-track happenings... 🤨 Don't think I've ever seen Carlos help Charles out like that tbh.

Disappointing from the team for sure, but as for Carlos, I've long gotten used to the fact that Charles is little more than an footnote when he's high on his own success 🤷🏻‍♀️

As for Charles and still having faith in the team... Idk, it's hard to tell what's going on at the moment. Recently we've had quotes about how the team seems to have "figured out" the weaknesses in the car and they pointed to Monza as a sort of breakthrough weekend, but they certainly weren't expecting 1. Red Bull annual Singapore stinker, 2. to be competitive at this track. So I'm not sure if whatever they're doing at the moment is actually helping any—or rather, helping Charles any, since he's still vocal about struggling with the handling of the car while Carlos is on cloud nine with how the car feels for him—or if this is just Charles cutting his losses and looking forward to a clean slate in 2024.

I do find it interesting how he was willing to fight down to the wire in Monza over a third place spot on the podium, but then here in Singapore he's sitting discussing pre-race strat with the team and seemingly agreeing to be used for Carlos's benefit. Was he that disappointed with himself in the Q3 mistake that he figured, okay, let's at least do what's best for the team even if it puts me at a disadvantage (possibility of a win sky-rocketing after Red Bull's flop era was confirmed in qualy) or... Because he did comply, but he also had to point out that if they slow him down too much they're going to just back him into George, and that it would be more beneficial to ask Carlos to pick up the pace since he was at the front controlling it.

A chapter is about to end

2021, I left a job to get back to the US for a Master Degree in Counseling psychology. I was excited because I feel like the US is still my home and our journey together hadn't ended yet, although feel bittersweet to leave the job I was really enjoying.

This time is Pittsburgh, has to be a city. I deferred my admission at the school I didn't know much about besides what my professor in undergrad was marketing to me. She thought it's a great fit for me, so I applied and give it the benefit of a doubt. And honestly, it's been a fun ride with ups and downs.

Grad school hits different. Very hard to make friends and find a community in an environment where everyone has a lot on their plate. But everyone I met are so empathetic. We share about our experiences and lessons vulnerably which I think it's a beautiful thing. It's where we vibe so well, without filters sometimes. I have had opportunities to chat with lot of them and see their point of view. Everyone has their unique stories, but do have some common similarities. I learn that although having a lot going on, people still can connect deeply when they spend time together to talk about how they see life. Empathy soars when I see different views with its pros and cons. Sometimes, all we need is being listened, no solution needed. I might not agree with how you see live because it's the opposite with what I believe, but I do respect your point of view because we're unique. We still can be friends even when we disagree with one another, but we agree to disagree and accept it's a part of us. It makes humans human. Agree??

I found a community at my internship site. I love all people I met there. They're super supportive. Their personality always amaze me. The empathy and sympathy they have are immense. We might unhappy with what others have done but always approach others with altruism. They challenge my perspectives and encourage me to see thing in different lenses. The kids at the site I met showed me how much emotional tolerance I have for others. They emotionally push me to the limit where sometimes I felt like I can burst off, but somehow I managed to calm myself down and treat them with kindness everytime. They're the future and good education is the only way to have a better future. I look at them in a holistic way to decipher how do they behave the way they do, which increases my sense of empathy. I'm extremely happy that I stay here long enough to see the impact I and my fellow interns have on them. Seeing the good impacts we make is pleasant. I'm gonna miss my fellow interns a lot. We made it so far, some left but some still stay till this moment I'm writing this. I appreciate them, I salute the work they're doing. I wish them the best!

I ended a 3-year relationship on a good term. I was passive on how it ended but I actively learned a lot about it. I learned how to not being harsh on myself. I appreciate my ex was being honest with her feeling and made a decision to break up for her own sake. It's definitely not beneficial for me but the honesty remains a highlight. I embrace it. It's totally fine to let thing go and l let myself to leave someone who didn't match the standard I pursue. It is and will always beneath my standard if I have a relationship with someone who doesn't want to be my teammate and has no capacity and emotional maturity to work and contribute to a relationship. It sucks that it's ended but I constantly remind myself everything happened for a reason. So, allowing myself go through the grieving is a huge learning lesson and I kinda enjoyed tbh. I embrace the process and feel like a new person out of it. No resentment and regret. No love is ever wasted, even when it leads to a heartbreak.

The last 2 years of grad school were an awesome journey ngl ☺️☺��. I have learnt so much more about the world and myself. I met new people whom I vibe with, yet still spent some time to revisit old friends who making effort to know what's going on in my life. Y'all are appreciated. Sometimes, I contemplate the life I have: bouncing between cities, starting a routine in a new city, finding a community at where I'm at, missing other things, goodbye people, etc...; and question myself is it all worth it? Every time, the answer is YES, including this time. Those cities, those people, and the experiences I had are making me who I am today. I have nothing but gratitude and empathy to give back. It's going to be a new fun chapter, thanks for tagging along if you get here hehe.

I would love to say yes, but I think there is a alot that would need to change in the next few years for this to happen. This is all just my thoughts and opinions and sorry that its long

W series (RIP) and F1 Academy are steps in the right direction....kind of. It is showcasing females in motorsports, but again it's not promoting them to the formulas where they can race against male drivers and gain the same type of opportunities. Even if we look at F1 academy, most of the drivers are running liveries with some support from those teams....but which of them are actually in drivers programs with the teams aside from Bianca who just got announced with McLaren? F1 Academy is great and important, and as Susie has said, change won't hapen over night and they need more support from drivers, teams and sponsors to give the girls equal opportunities to race

And that is a huge issue.

Drivers academies, teams and sponsors are more willing to take the risk on a young male driver than on a female one. They tend to be given the support whereas female drivers often have to bow out because of a lack of funding. I know its not every male driver that benefits, I know that, but when it comes down to it, a sponsor or team will back a male driver over risking investing in a female driver. This attitude needs to change. They need to be considered equally and investing in a female driver with a stronger talent shouldn't be seen as a risk.

This change also has to come from within the FIA and the structure of the entire series and feeder series. I was talking to a friend about this ask, and how to answer it, and they made a great point that another thing that is failing drivers (male and female) is the feeder series which no longer works. This was a series meant to promote drivers into F1, but teams are now retaining drivers, re-signing drivers that have been out of the sport, instead of signing younger drivers as is the purpose of the feeder series. The last time this worked, my friend pointed out, was really 2019 with the rookie trio coming to F1. Possibly 2020 with Mick getting a seat for 2021.

There are so many hurdle in place already for young drivers, and those hurdles are twice, if not ten times, harder for female drivers. From how some fans react to them (the way they spoke about Bianca in comments is disgusting), to how female drivers are compared to each other so much so that if a female does bad in the feeder series suddenly all female drivers are bad and teams won't sign them, to money and sposors and just it being impossible to get the opportunities that male drivers do.

I really hope we get to see a female driver in F1 in the next ten years but I do think there is a lot of work that needs to be down before that. Some of which I don't see happening any time soon sadly, but I am hopeful that time will prove me wrong

I do suggest listening to Jessica Hawkins interview after her test laps on her expereinces. I can only speak as a fan and observer. I cannot speak for female drivers because I am not one

As for who I'd like it to be? Honestly, all of them deserve their shot at F1, just like the F3 and F2 guys do. Ngl, I would like to see Bianca Bustamante up there some day, but any female who makes it to F1 would deserve it and be amazing to see

20/09/2023 (we met because it was my birthday week, and we were supposed to spend a day out but didn't for some unfortunate reasons. she really feels like home, being around is the most satisfying and comforting thing for me🥰❤️. i said few things out loud that i was scared of, she didn't have a negative reaction and it was good, felt like a burden off of my chest 😂. got to hug her nicely 🥺❤️)

25/09/2023 (so i planned something lame and didn't leave my house since my birthday last week and i was finally able to excute it successfully 😂. i wanted her to be the first person i meet outside family, was not really sure about it plus she didn't know but i was able to pull it off. we met for few minutes, it was late so we just went for a ride around town before i drop her home. got 2 hugs and it felt nice ❤️❤️)

How Porsche disarmed Big...

...and almost got away with it.

Some great discourse got me revved up about the fight choreography so far in KinnPorsche, so guess what? META TIME.

We know Porsche is a Taekwondo champion, though from what has been shown so far, he's generally NOT leading with his Taekwondo skills but rather with his street fighting skills. I say this as someone who has practiced Taekwondo. It's there, and I can see it in certain moments, but it's like it's buried in boxing and brawling moves.

I saw one especially big exception. Or should I say, exception for Big? (Haha. Get it?)

Kim and Isolation

There's a lot of rage at Kim going around right now (ep 11 of KinnPorsche). And I'm the kind of person who sees everyone swimming in one direction, and it makes me want to swim the other way.

So I started thinking about Kim and trying to get in his head. I put on my writer hat and examined him from a character perspective and a narrative perspective.

What I came up with is that Kim is isolated as fuck.

Isolation as an Overall Theme

Isolation is a common and useful narrative theme for love stories because it sets up a reversal — the change from isolation to togetherness.

In KinnPorsche, each of the six main characters in the pairings experiences isolation in some way, and to varying degrees.

Kinn experiences the isolation that comes with all the unique pressures that he faces as the heir to the mafia empire.

Porsche, normally very gregarious and social, experiences isolation in his early days as a bodyguard — even with Pete's initial support, he's largely on his own.

Vegas, like Kinn, is an heir and has a family situation that isolates him, and he has a warped perception of the world and people around him. (Macau may be the only exception for him, though we're missing a lot of background and development there.)

Pete experiences isolation paired with vulnerability in his captivity.

Porchay experiences isolation in his family situation, with a deadbeat uncle and a brother who ran off to join the circus mafia.

Kim experiences isolation in his home, in his work as a solo artist, and in his investigation.

Kim "No Man Is Island Except Me" Theerapanyakul

Of the characters, Kim is the only one whose isolation is self-imposed. He's a unique story element in that way.

He's also the only character for whom we've heard inner thoughts (ep 5), because:

We as the audience need to understand those thoughts.

There is no one with whom he would share them aloud.

Narratively, the writers/directors got stuck in a position where they needed to add the "inner thoughts voiceover" trope solely for him, and only in that one place, because of how dramatically isolated he is.

Fic Writers: You Need No Justification

I've had a few noteworthy incidents recently with the way readers have chosen to engage with my fic.

First, an early TLDR: Fic writers, you are under no obligation to justify either yourself or your writing choices to your readers. Ever.

There may come a day when a commenter thinks they can say whatever they like, without any care as to how that might affect you. They might, possibly, even be hoping to get a reaction. When that happens, I want you to remember that this commenter Is not your audience. 

And you don’t have to let them walk all over you. 

Recently, a commenter chose to disagree with my characterization and relationship dynamic choices, starting with a dismissive “Naah” and saying “I don’t like this idea that…” and “I don’t like this {character}...” and “I am sad now…” and “I can’t continue.” 

And I chose to tell them to back off. Firmly. Then I got a response that really concerns me.

Name is hidden for no reason in particular. Because it’s a throwaway name anyway.

First of all, this commenter folded as soon as I showed I wouldn’t cater to them. Second, the fact that this person comments anonymously with “random names” is a dead giveaway that they know their behavior isn’t above board, and that having it traced back to them would be less than fun for them. 

I also had another commenter recently who willfully chose to ignore tags, triggered themself, and left a comment about how upset they were. Similarly, I reminded this person that they chose to read the fic and recommended they make healthier choices for their own sake. 

So once again: As a fic writer, you don’t have to cater, you don’t have to placate, and you don’t have to justify yourself.

(About the G1 post) I feel a same way, for me I really got in NJPW from 2017-18 but then I stopped watching wrestling in 2018 ish but came back in 2021… I think a lot of people from wrestlblr migrated to Twitter :/ but I agree it feels in general that a lot of people are either not watching, not posting or paying attention

Maybe because they’re not into nooj or language barrier or they only watch when certain wrestlers are on the card 🤷🏽‍♀️ I’m trying so hard not to get a Twitter for updates but I’ve been mostly checking here and Reddit for stuff 🥲

ngl i wouldn’t know when it comes to wrestling twitter. i know there’s always been a sizeable audience there for wrestling but i have no incentive to be a part of it & i just don’t think it’s worth anyone wasting their energy over.

as for the language barrier, idk. it’s not a good reason to be put off imo? as someone who’s kinda fresh to njpw (two years now?) i think njpw has a great english commentary team & they actually make an effort to caption (most of) their promos & pressers.

when i watch, i don’t feel left out apart from my own unfamiliarity when a certain wrestler or stable or dynamic with another wrestler is brought up. the social media stuff, maybe, but njpw do things differently. unlike other promotions i don’t believe you miss much by not following on social media…

that’s not my point, sorry. i’ll get a bit whingy and gatekeep-y when i talk about japanese wrestling in the contest of western audiences and i don’t wanna bitch and moan again

realistically, it’s more than likely people just aren’t lbing / posting about it as much this year round. which is fair enough, but i’m a bit selfish & just want to see more about the g1 now that there’s wrestling i actually care about and enjoy again yknow

Don’t you think it is frustrating to read a current WIP with an author that suddenly stops posting chapters? Ofc RL sucks! And we as internet users don’t know what is going on in other people lifes! So being angry at authors for abandoning the story doesn’t make any sense. Nevertheless, it makes the reader still sad never to know how the story ends.

As a reader (who comments and reviews finished works even though they are 10-15 years old! And sometimes the author reacts with a lot of surprise and say things like „someone still reads this old thing??“ 😅) its so… not annoying i would say but frustrating to read and follow a story that suddenly doesn’t continue after a year or two. Sometimes I get confused in ffnet, because I quiet don’t understand if a story is complete or not and reading incomplete, abandoned stories makes me so so so sad, because I get so frustrated not knowing what is going to happen next.*

In 2016 I was following a fantastic wrong boy who lived (its german „Felder der Dunkelheit“ ) fanfiction that broke me in thousand pieces until the author stopped at the climax of the story. It had 50+ chapters. Its been 7 years and I am still rereading it, but know that author is not going to post anything. Still, I hope that person is okay and life wasn’t too hard to them.

In 2022 i found a (in my opinion) pretty good Harry Potter fiction that again was abandoned in 2021. And believe it or not, the author updated it a few weeks ago, which ngl made me cry for an half an hour because I was so happy that the story will be continued

Sometimes I stumble over summaries of great HP fanfiction and I would read the whole story (without checking the reviews/ status of the story) and get to the „last“ chapter to find out this story didn’t get updated the last 3-10 years.

There are so many good fiction and it hurts so much to spend your time on unfinished stories and feel like you „wasted“ your time.

Complete fiction is the safest option for me to not being disappointed, when reaching the last updated chapter (And cliffhanger don’t bother me as much, because I know the next chapter is just a click away)

Yet, it still has some disadvantages to read finished works

e.g

-not reaching the climax with the author

-not being able to talk with the author about a certain paragraph that one liked

-asking questions

-the excitement when you get a notification that there is a new update

-no answering/ reaction to your review

I read a knight of mine when it had 13 chapters and stopped reading it. (it’s not your fault literally it is not!!🫶🏽 its a good story really!!! I loved Red& Lightning and your Ginny is pretty cool!)

Your are the author and you decide when you update. But after a few weeks I just forgot what the story is about and I had been so confused reading chapter 15. So I decided that I will wait until it’s finished and reread the whole story again.

I know, this frustrates you too. Because you don’t know if people liked the story, you have no clue if there is something in your story that maybe doesn’t make sense for someone or if someone found easter eggs that you put in there. Reviews on finished stories wouldn’t give you the same satisfaction or happiness because you mentally finished with it and don’t care about those reviews as much as you did while posting your stories (ofc this doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate them!!!!!)

i am only assuming things, if this is not true, than I am sorry, I said this!🙈

Sometimes authors just need motivation from their readers to continue writing. I understand that! Reviews and comments assure the writer that his baby is being loved by other people and that other people care about it too!

But I am also thankful for those authors who were determined to finish their fanfic!🫶🏽

*I also know that some authors feel disconnected to their stories. I can understand that. I don’t judge them and I never will be angry at those who stopped updating their fiction. But it still hurts more than it should, when they stop posting and disappear. Which is weird. Bc i don’t know them personally but i still feel ghosted…💀

Thank you for sending this so politely, I know people can get worked up about it.

Here's the thing. I never judge any individual for them not commenting or when they choose not or when to read a fic. That is literally your call. Sometimes it is just a general trend you catch wind of and that's just how it is.

Just as writers I know readers have their own things going on and reasons they may not comment or want to read right now. I get it. And these last few months I have been getting more interaction on my fics than I am used to and I appreciate that, I really do but this isn't just a me thing. It's something I can observe on other fics too. Sometimes as a writer you do lose motivation, for about 700 reasons and a comment is that thing that gets you up and behind that laptop and write, that's just how it is. That's not the readers fault but that doesn't mean it doesn't help.

I have been that reader. I recently read a soulbond fic I was really getting into, I was rushing through it and then suddenly I was at the last chapter... in the middle of the story. Yeah I was frustrated. Checked how long ago it was updated, if I could find any trace of this writer but didn't come up with much. And that's not the first time that happened to me either. I completely understand the frustration.

But I have also been that writer. I have a longfic I never finished and I just straight up deleted it. I found it lacked plot and I didn't know what I was doing with it. So not to leave people hanging I just deleted all of it. I didn't write anything substantial after that for four years, for an array of reasons which were mostly mental health related. It wasn't the fic's fault but it just happened. I felt bad about it but there was no way to finish it. Now writing again I opened that doc again and still agreed there was nothing left for that fic. I didn't have many readers so I don't know if people missed it really but I know if someone did, it probably sucked.

I personally would love if a fic that was finished got a comment. While I tend to pick apart my own writing, especially the older ones, a lot of them are really precious to me. If someone reblogged a oneshot of mine, I always go check if they maybe left some opinion in the tags? A little comment? And longfics you spend so much time on, I think most writer would enjoy comments long after they have posted.

My post wasn't about people who read only finished fic or people who don't comment, it was about the two combined. I have noticed this being a trend on tiktok as well where they just expect to only read finished works but they also treat it as this random consumable thing as if it's a tv series to binge-watch or something and fanfic is just a little different. Again not attacking anyone individually it's just such a big group of people that prefers to read only finished fics (like literally a majority) yet the majority of fics receive 99% of their comments while it's not finished yet and that's what I was pointing out.

I totally understand the points you made, being both writer and reader. My point is: comment on finished fics. I can guarantee you the majority of writers will still be super stoked about it. Just because you are coming in late (by choice, coincidence or accident) doesn't mean you can't interact. The writer doesn't cease to exist the moment they click 'Completed'
