Trick or Treat 👻 👉👈

One night, Eddie wakes up and Buck isn't in bed. It's weird— he usually half wakes up in the middle of the night and Buck is always there, cuddled around Eddie like a fucking octopus.

It's something he's gotten used to pretty quickly. So when he wakes up, and Buck isn't there, Eddie feels cold.

He sits up in bed, yawning and running his fingers through his hair as he blinks slowly to fully wake up. "Buck?" He rasps out, voice low and gravelly. "Babe?"

There's no answer and the light of the bathroom is off.

Eddie frowns as he gets up, walking put of the bedroom— The floor is cold against his barefeet and he hisses slightly but after a few seconds he gets used to it.

Halfway down the hallway, he starts smelling this heavenly chocolatey aroma floating in the air and—

Eddie finds Buck in the kitchen. Baking.

At like, 2:00 AM.

“Couldn’t sleep and was craving brownies,” Buck says quietly as he cuts a slice and hands it to Eddie across the table when he sees him approach. His cheeks are pink and his hair is all messy and soft looking— His eyes, though, are tored and red rimmed.

Eddie looks down at the brownie before looking back at Buck with a confused and concerned look. "What's going on? Talk to me, babe."

"It's just— Ugh." Buck rubs his hands on his face and shakes his head. Eddie waits him out, giving him space and time but refusing to leave him alone. "I don't know. The call today, it hit me hard."

Eddie doesn't have to ask which one. They had a call today with a kid— he was fine in the end but the parents were clearly negligent and couldn't care less.

Buck has been fuming, red in the face and with such an intense stare that Eddie almost believed he could pulverize those people on the spot out of sheer will.

"I know." He sighs.

"Maddie, she, uh—" Buck gives a small and fragile smile. "When my parents were out of town or out at parties and I couldn't sleep... she would take my hand and guide me to the kitchen. We would prepare brownies dough and eat all of it— We would get sick for days after that," Buck chuckles weakly. "So yeah, probably not the best. I figured making the brownies would make me feel better and instead of eating the dough—"

"You'd be normal and actually bake them."

"Yeah." Buck snorts and shrugs. "Sorry I woke you up, though."

"Don't apologize." Eddie shakes his head, getting up from when he had sit down and walking around the counter, embracing Buck in his arms. "I love you."

Buck hunches slightly and hides his face on Eddie's neck. "Love you too."

it's buck was reckless (with good intentions) on a call and eddie gets upset, buck leaves the house to take a walk so everyone can calm down and gets hit by a car >:) because i'm just a sucker for bleeding out on the phone just wanting to hear the love of your life's voice one last time (don't worry buck is okay in the end)

Buck hadn’t meant to be reckless, really he hadn’t. For the last few years he had been trying to get better— really think through his responses on rescues more than he had before. After a few too many close calls, his latest one having actually lead to his death— as temporary as it might have been— he had slowly realized that he needed to be more careful. That he had people waiting on him to come home, counting on him. He had Eddie and Christopher to think about now. Not that they were really his, at least not in the way he really wanted them to be— but just because Eddie didn’t want him the same way Buck wanted him, didn’t mean that Buck wanted to do anything that would make him have to leave them. But.

This one is my turn at a magical au. It started as a snippet with a tiny piece I couldn’t get out of my head. Then people showed interest and it’s grown (much to my delight and terror).

The basic idea is we have witch!Eddie who has always had and known about his magick. Then there’s Buck. Buck only realized he was magical when he spontaneously shifted to a cat as a teenager. Maddie is magical as well, but was forbidden from telling Buck about his abilities. Daniel and the Buckley parents were never magical. So you can probably see how Buck was an extra disappointment to his parents in this one.

TLDR: I’m from old-fandom, decades ago when bullying was not acceptable. Please respect your fellow fandom freaks. Because you're one too.

TMNT fandom used to be an incredibly accepting place. We were all horrible little freaks with a weird and socially-unacceptable habit of day dreaming and writing and drawing and, honestly, obsessing about hidden turtle men in the sewers. 

Social pressure from real life kept us humble and grateful for the existence of others like us online. Because outside of fandom, the world was full of  people who had normal hobbies, like sports or crafting or gardening or volunteering for soup kitchens. Those normal people could talk about their interests in public! Mention their safe pursuits in mixed company! Claim their talents and their results in the social circles at school or at work or at church!

Make-believe man-turtle enthusiasts had nowhere in our real lives where it was okay to admit the depth of our interests without being bullied or shunned or branded as a complete freak. Whether you were a kid or an adult! 

And I have said nothing about shipping or smut or specific versions of our mutants.

If you wrote/drew/enjoyed the tamest, sweetest, most pure turtle content, you were still an IRL freak!

That's why, when us fans found each other online, space was made for all of us. Our only requirement: love the turtles. 

I get that newer fans don't have those extreme social pressures. Times have changed. 'Fandom' is not mainstream, but it's understood to exist for thousands of TV shows and movies and games. Now, the internet is everywhere and it's easier than ever to find people who agree with you. Heck, there's every expectation that there are people who agree with you; you don’t have to wonder if you’re alone.

Loving the TMNT is not an isolating experience anymore.

That's great.

But it also means that current fandom takes its fans for granted. Fans that write the wrong kinds of fiction are bullied. Fans who draw the wrong arrangement of characters are shunned. Fans who enjoy more than one type of story are disposable, worthless, and unwelcome to speak or share with the larger group. 

Fandom is meant to be a refuge for all us freaks.

How did the real world become kinder while fandom got meaner? How does that make sense? Why are the people who have the most in common doing the most damage to each other?

Of course, rate your content, tag your content, respect requests not to discuss certain topics/ships in specific settings or with specific people. Yes, yes, yes. Consideration and respect for each other's boundaries is fundamental in fandom and is how we have been able to co-exist for so long!

But respect and consideration are built on treating each other--all of each other--as if we all have value and worth and dignity. 

Every member of fandom is a real person with feelings. 

Every member of fandom likes a variety of content. 

Every member of fandom deserves to have a safe space where they are not insulted or tormented or excluded for their thoughts or creations.

Please, live and let live. Co-exist. Respect your fellow freak, you fandom weirdo.

I think this documentary about Alexander the Great is amazing. It has big budget production and the actors are nicely casted, also the landscapes have decent cgi.

I general when it comes to accurate telling of a story i will choose documentary, because they accurately tell the story.

Very good indeed. I also liked that the landscapes and ancient sites are the actual ones, filmed in Greece and it made me feel a little foolish for not having visited the archaeological site of Vergina yet. I couldn’t find part 2 though.

Of course it has some inaccuracies for the sake of dramatisation but overall enjoyable. Pity the comments don’t live up to the video; apparently the documentary outraged many commentators who average an IQ below 70. I basically spent some time liking comments saying he was actually a Japanese samurai or a Pakistani ninja because these theories at this point are as good as any. Yes, if Alexander was not Greek, then my next vote goes to Japanese samurai. Definitely.
