random idea but spy au where inuyasha is the brash but competent field agent who gets assigned on retrieval missions. always monitoring his earpiece is kagome, one of the newer (but not any less brilliant) tech agents assigned to be his partner. not much is known about kagome's background but inuyasha's assured that she's good at what she does, so he doesn't mind. he's met her once, but doesn't intend on making friends anyway, so he doesn't go out of his way to see her again. if kagome does her job then he's not going to stick his nose where it doesn't belong.
kagome is chatty, though, so he knows some things. she has a younger brother. her father passed away when she was young. she has a cat, she lives in an apartment by herself. inuyasha doesn't offer any personal information, but she doesn't mind—she just likes to fill in the dead air during long waits when inuyasha's in the field and he has to wait an ungodly amount of time before something happens.
they work well together, more or less—up until one retrieval mission where kagome is uncooperative, leading him down dead ends and wrong turns. it was supposed to be a simple in and out task—break into the building, head one of the many office on one of the many floors, grab the folder labeled #00415, and go. so simple that his superior just left it as a note on his desk.
he didn't ask questions on what this was all for; he didn't think he needed to. he never even bothered bringing it up. but with kagome purposefully fucking up the mission—almost leading him into a pack of gaurds to get caught—he's starting to get pissed off, because what the fuck, you're wasting time, i need to get this damn document and i need to do it now. he snapped as such into his mic and kagome instantly quiets, and thanks to her silence he eventually manages to find his way into the damn office.
it doesn't take him long to find the document, and with his mouth in a scowl he speaks into his mic that fuck, fucking finally he has it, thanks for nothing kagome, now he just needs to make sure that this file is the one, so he opens the folder labelled #00415 and peeks and—
name: higurashi kagome identification number: #00415 report: unknown role in the murder of higurashi kikyo
his eyes widen.
he speaks into his mic and demands to know what's going on, but kagome isn't responding. when he gets back to the agency, she's gone, none's seen her in hours, and his superior demands to know why he's been mia. inuyasha snaps that he went on that stupid retrieval mission and found kagome's file. his superior looks at him as if he were crazy.
"what retrieval mission?" his boss says, confused.
"the one you left on my desk this morning!"
"i didn't leave any thing on your desk, inuyasha. what are you talking about?"
inuyasha's stomach drops.
kagome, he thinks with dread. i have to find kagome.
"sir," inuyasha starts. "i think kagome's in danger."

Inuvember 2023 Part 1
In honor of @inuvember InuKag Day, the Archive Mods have put together a 30 item InuKag recommendation list: one InuKag fic per prompt. Since this list is longer than our usual, we've split it into two parts. Enjoy!
Day 1 Inuyasha
I Hate That Fucking Well by @kstewdeux (M)
Post-manga. Inuyasha POV. Inuyasha's inner thoughts and monologues. Rated M for fucking language
Day 2 Kagome
Cinnamon Hearts by @fandomobsessions016 (M)
"So, you may be wondering, what’s this story about anyway? Well, I’ll tell you. It’s about how this queen, almost lost her crown, her throne, but worst of all… it’s about how this queen almost lost her king…
Hindsight, of course, has perfect vision, but at the time I did not. I was a girl becoming a woman who fought bitterly against change that was inevitable. I didn’t want to open my eyes. I didn’t want to see what was right in front of me.
What I wanted more than anything was to keep Inuyasha.
High school forced my eyes open, tested our “unshakable” bond and made me confront my biggest fear. All because…
I caught feelings for my best friend.
I like-liked my king."
Day 3 Sango
Forever Home by KittyKatz (M)
How long had he roamed the earth in a form that was not his? Beaten, dirty and caged, he finds one last bit of fortune when she comes to rescue him from this place. But his road to redemption will not be easy. And he will find, that no matter how the world has changed, his old enemy remains. And this time, they plan to destroy him once and for all.
Day 4 Miroku
Under the Northern Lights by @lostinfantasyworlds (E)
Kagome Higurashi has her dream job, working as a photographer for the internationally well-known Yugen magazine. Her career whisks her all around the world, leaving her feeling lonely sometimes but mostly just incredibly grateful to be doing what she loves. When she gets assigned to Alaska for a month to photograph a series of celestial events, she runs into Inuyasha, a half-demon who lives on his own in the middle of nowhere. A mutual attraction draws them to each other, but Kagome's time there is limited. Will giving in to their desire lead to love or heartbreak?
Day 5 Shippo
Oh, But You're Good To Me by @witchygirl99 (E)
It’s a terrible photo, really. The action figure takes up the entire bottom of the screen and part of both of their faces. Shippo’s giggling though, eyes shut and crinkled in his mirth while Inuyasha looks at him. His expression is clearly fond. It’s the softest Inuyasha has ever, ever seen himself.
This is fatherhood, he thinks a little wildly.
He sends the photo to Kagome.
Inuyasha is a single father. Shippo is his adopted son. Kagome isn't supposed to be in the picture, but somehow, she returns anyways. A story about family, love, and all of its obstacles.
Day 6 Sesshomaru
Whispers in the Wind by @ruddcatha (G)
It has been 500 years since Kagome jumped back down the well to be with Inuyasha. A messenger waits to see her family, and is joined by a surprising guest.
Day 7 Rin
My Life Before You by @len-barboza (E) -- based on a story by Mizune-mei
No English language summary provided.
Day 8 Kikyou
Stolen Soul by Kimberly-A (T)
COMPLETE Kikyo uses a spell to exchange bodies with Kagome, leaving Kagome stuck in the dead shell and Kikyo comfortably human. In the aftermath, Inu-Yasha faces difficult choices. InuKag, not very Kikyo-friendly.
Day 9 Koga
A New Moon, A New Start by @pinestripes (T)
Kouga visits the village near the Sacred Tree. On this particular evening, he finds that a certain half-demon is more on edge than usual.
Day 10 Kagura
The Portal Between Worlds by @neutronstarship (E)
Ten years ago, a portal transported Inuyasha from the demon realm to the human realm. Now a half-demon alone in a world he doesn't understand, he will do anything to get home. When Onigumo brings him a book with all the answers, Inuyasha pushes aside his misgivings and works with the man. He just wants to get home, after all.
Kagome just wants to make an extra buck (and find demons), much to Kikyo’s chagrin. That is why she published Demons Among Us! after all. But strange things start happening when she puts the book online. As if people are using it to open the portals that it hypothesized… When Kagura and Sango join the fray, the stakes grow higher as they try to find the source of the portals.
When Inuyasha encounters Kagome, fate is not what it seems. Not one, but two realms are in danger for their survival. What happens when the final portal opens and an unknowable terror is unleashed? Can the Demon Hunters save the world?
Day 11 Naraku
You Rescued Me by @keizfanfiction (E)
Maybe it was fate that he decided to take the back way home that night, but whatever the reason, Inuyasha was grateful for arriving just in the nick of time to rescue a waif of a woman who had clearly been through hell. He never would have imagined that she would end up rescuing him, too.
Day 12 Band of Seven
Delicate by @akitokihojo (T)
To trust someone, to let them in, what an unsettling ordeal. Kagome is easy and safe, and Inuyasha is difficult and guarded. She can put him at ease with a smile, simultaneously setting him on edge. It was nothing until it was something, creating absolute chaos and uncertainty within the both of them.
Day 13 Jinenji/ Shiori
How Does Your Garden Grow? by @dawnrider (M)
An Ingary-esque AU: Kagome, the newest generation of caretakers of the Higurashi House, finally starts to feel like her garden and business is thriving with the help of her friend Jinenji. Their routine is thrown off by the arrival of an injured visitor who does not want to be found...
Day 14 Toga
Taisho School of Acting: A Quick Guide by @jeremymarsh (G)
“Excuse me, what?” Kagome looked at her best friend with eyes as big as saucers, lips parted, and her mind replaying what he had said a moment before – trying to find a sense but to no avail. “You heard me.” Inuyasha scowled, looking down, arms crossed and lips pouting, just like he did every time he didn’t like the topic at hand. The problem was he had started it this time. “Yeah, I did.” Kagome shook her head and inhaled deeply before she continued. “And that’s why I’m asking you to repeat yourself since I’m having problems believing that certain sentences left your mouth.” “I said,” Inuyasha started through clenched teeth, still not meeting her gaze, “come to my family Christmas dinner this Sunday.” He stopped, ran a hand through his silver mane, closed his eyes, murmured something unintelligible and then added: “As my girlfriend.”
Where Inuyasha tries to fool his parents and miserably fails.
Day 15 Izayoi
The Silence of Daisies by Fierywenchxo (T)
Inuyasha shares with Kagome one of the biggest secrets he's ever kept. One-shot.

ramble-y post incoming:
tldr: is the inukag to izanori pipeline real, and am i falling headfirst into it? yes, yes i am.
[This post does contain spoilers for Kanata Kara and Inuyasha.]
recently (and by that i mean two days ago) i decided i wanted to start a shojo manga that wasn't too long, something I could read in between lectures. i checked some of my saved manga on the website i use, and found one that i had saved purely because i'd been enthralled by the cover art, which looked like this:
Tumblr media
(i mean, look at them!!)
...that, and it was 14 volumes, so I thought i could finish it within a week or two, reading a few chapters every day.
i was wrong. i'm on volume ten and it's been a day and a half.
i haven't finished and I'm making this post (partly because i've been rambling about it in ballistic keysmash-consistent twitter posts) to say that Kanata Kara is good. very, very good. damn that one-star review on the site i'm using, because that shit has to be an accidental click. I love the world-building, the diverse cast of characters, and the art is magnificent. I think my favorite thing of all has to be the themes represented so far in the manga, perpetuated by our titular characters noriko and izark. I may make a future post about that when i finish the manga, but there is one thing i noticed while reading that struck me as really interesting: the dynamic between izark and noriko, and the characters themselves, remind me a lot of inuyasha and kagome.
now i'm gonna preface this by saying i'm not trying to say that these are the same dynamics or something, because they aren't - I just want to point out parallels i thought were really interesting, as someone who loves both relationships in their respective mangas. i also want to establish that Kanata Kara predates Inuyasha by three to five years*- so what I really should be saying is that inuyasha and kagome remind me of izark and noriko, but you get the picture. you could argue a number of things with this in mind, but i'm not here to discuss any of that. this isn't meant to be some sort of dumb gotcha; both series are good in their own ways, and some of the similarities i'm highlighting can be attributed to similar tropes being at play!
*(sources vary, some say 1993, others say 1995)
izark/inuyasha
Tumblr media Tumblr media
demons - inuyasha is half inu-youkai, whereas izark is the sky demon from a prophecy that makes up much of the manga's internal and external conflict for him. an interesting contrast i found was that while inuyasha's half-demon features are present for the majority of the manga and his human side shows up only a handful of times, it's the exact opposite for izark, whose "human" appearance reigns for the majority of the manga.
both characters were shunned by their respective communities (and humanity at large, though inuyasha had his mother for some time, and izark's mother tried to kill him). when both parents died, they began living on the fringes of society, never interacting with anyone and, according to them, "preferring to be alone."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
both share moments where their demon sides take over and they are unable to control themselves - unless, of course, their loved one is present to help them. otherwise, both are trapped in a violent, bloodthirsty state of mind that makes them lose parts of their identity each time transformation is undergone. both try to avoid this part of them out of fear of losing themselves, but when occasions rise where they are in those forms, their respective loved ones pull them out of it/help them ground themselves.
powerful fighters willing to quite literally put everything on the line for their respective loved ones - i'm talking half-dead-dragging their-bodies-across-the floor and thinking "well, at least she's okay."
one interesting difference to me is how izark and inuyasha approach their humanity. izark is constantly shown in his "human" form and is only in his demon form a handful of times, and the exact opposite is true for inuyasha. izark's earlier (brief) plan of doing away with noriko is spurned from his desire to avoid the tragic fate tied with his demonic form, whereas inuyasha's earlier actions are motivated by his desire to become a full demon. izark relates his demon side to inevitability, to the idea that he might just become the monster everyone prophesied him to be; inuyasha (in the beginning) views his humanity with scorn and associates it with weakness. he wants to embrace the possibility of achieving full demon status, and why? is it just because he wants power? in my opinion, no - I think it's a way of finding a place; being free to go where he wants. inuyasha is already powerful in his own right, and even when he's given the opportunity to claim a formidable weapon like his father's sword, he says he has no interest in it (until, of course, kagome mentions he could try to claim it just to spite sesshomaru, and only then is his interest peaked.) inuyasha seeks freedom by assimilating into a full demon identity, izark seeks freedom from that full demon identity, and only then will he feel in control of his life.
kagome/noriko
Tumblr media Tumblr media
both from modern era japan and get isekaied into another world - kagome's instance is time-travel, though - noriko is transported to a whole other world with different culture, geography, and language (noriko having to learn the language of the people there and taking part in their customs is one of my favorite things about the manga!!)
the beacon of light in their respective groups/found family, bringing everyone together
key players in a "Prophecy of Doom" - kagome's "destiny" is to continue the cycle of the shikon jewel; noriko's "destiny" is to awaken the Sky Demon (izark). both girls, and their loved ones, change their futures.
damsels? maybe, but never in distress:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
and, of course, the most prominent parallel for me: their acceptance of their lovers and the ripple effect that love has on their lovers' relationships and life:
"i'm not leaving you no matter what happens, no matter who you are - I will stay by your side":
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"you changed my life for the better":
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
"i've opened up and become more vulnerable":
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
there are a ton of other examples i could use for this bullet, since it has a pretty broad spectrum of events that could fall under it, but these are my favorites.
i also want to draw attention to the way noriko deals with feeling powerless - both she and kagome are surrounded by powerful, experienced individuals, but unlike noriko, kagome has a reign on her archery and spiritual skills pretty early on in the manga, so she contributes in battles one way or another. one of noriko's longest internal conflicts is that she feels guilty that she can't do anything to help and that people are getting hurt on her behalf:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i absolutely love the advice given to her, and how it ties into the themes of the manga. noriko feels like she isn't helping, but even a simple thank you helps - even if it's just thanking one person for a single deed, everyone is intricately tied, and that goodwill spreads. it grows. it becomes a part of everyone. you don't have to be a fighter to spread good.
conclusion: the parallels are neat and READ KANATA KARA!

Here is my entry for the reversebang! @kalcia did an AMAZING piece, and I was so excited to be able to write something to go with it. The fic is completed and will be updated throughout the day!
Summary:
Kagome had seen the light in the distance all her life. When she finally sets out to discover its source, she gets more than she bargained for. A trapped hanyou, a seemingly unbreakable curse, and a strange connection.
And at least two people want her dead.
Isn't it romantic?
Rating: E on Ao3, M on ff.net.

Why there's actually NO love triangle in Inuyasha (looking at the story from an eastern perspective)
So, this is going to be one of my long posts - bear with me!
I see a lot of debate about Kikyo vs Kagome, and I wanted to share some thoughts on the love triangle aspect of Inuaysha. Although I am white British (originally American), I was raised with an Indian religion – and despite leaving it about 20 years ago, it never fully leaves your system. And I really think you really need to look at Inuyasha from an eastern perspective to understand the Kikyo / Kagome thing.
So, let’s first look at why I personally had such a problem with Kikyo in the beginning – and then we’ll look at why we have to see her in a different way.
Tumblr media
I have two problems with Kikyo. The first is that she was a high priestess of the village, known to be so powerful that she was entrusted to purify the shikon jewel, and so forth. She dealt with demons on a daily basis. She knew better than most that they often took on dual forms and they were deceitful. And yet the instant ‘Inuyasha’ attacked her, she didn’t so much as blink at it. She accepted his betrayal without hesitation – which tells me she never truly trusted or loved him.
Exhibit B – her proposal to use the crystal on him, to make him fully human. Essentially, this would have eradicated the world of one more demon – she was slaying him under the guise of love. It was a means to de-claw him, which to me is symbolic of stripping away all his passion and strength - everything that makes him him. He would have been tamed and weakened and in her hands. It’s pretty realistic, because a lot of women fall for the ‘bad boy’ and then work hard to domesticate him until he is unrecognisable. I just don’t like it.
So, to my mind, Kikyo didn’t really love him. She didn’t accept him for what / who he was. He was fatherless, his mother died when he was young, and he had to look after himself in a cruel world of bullies and bigots. He naively fell for the first suggestion of kindness because it was the first he ever had of it – but it wasn’t sincere.
She sealed him to the Tree of Ages and the world moved on, while he remained frozen in an older time. I see this as metaphor for Inuyasha being emotionally and mentally stuck, unable to move forward from his trauma. This is why (apart from just being a demon) he doesn’t age. Kaede is an old woman and he’s still the young naïve reckless kid in desperate need of love and acceptance, unable to grow.
Tumblr media
But Kikyo never grew either. She died and sealed away the crystal in her grave, freezing the whole moment in time. She still had lessons to learn – they both did. And this is what leads us to Kagome. She is drawn back to Inuyasha because they have unfinished business from a previous lifetime.
When Kikyo is first resurrected, her soul is removed from Kagome’s body and returned to its former body, Kikyo. But this is not how it should be – that soul is ready to move forward. It’s had time to learn lessons. In fact, an interesting question would be: what was that soul doing for nearly 500 years? Because it had to have gone through other incarnations between the feudal period and modern Tokyo. In that time, Inuyasha remained stuck in one moment, unable to grow, while his lover’s soul reincarnated again and again and learned the lessons it needed to learn in order to go back and resolve this matter.
So Kagome drags her soul back into her modern body – but leaves one crucial piece behind in Kikyo’s resurrected body: her hatred / anger. Kikyo is then a walking body of rage. Symbolically, we are seeing the soul (now in Kagome) leaving the past in the past and wishing to move forward, without the anger it held onto for so long. The anger then gradually becomes purified, we could say, through the infusion of other dead souls mixed in to keep Kikyo’s body alive a while longer. She gains the experience of other souls, to heal that anger so that it no longer lingers in the world.
However, as long as Kikyo is present, Inuyasha cannot move forward. It isn't so much about her as an individual - because we have to remember she's already there as Kagome. Kikyo's presence is a symbol of the guilt and anger Inuyasha needs to let go of. He is still emotionally stuck to the tree.
Kagome has had other incarnations to teach her the wisdom of letting go of those emotions. Her special innate skill seems to be healing – as Kikyo, she was a healer, but now she is even more so. The very birds flock to her. She is also a seer. She sees not just the shikon shards but into people’s hearts. She can read the emotions in their faces. She sees their vulnerability, and their worth, underneath all their bravado and anger. Her kindness touches people. She might struggle with algebra, but she has innate wisdom from lifetimes of experience. She is an old soul. In many ways, although Inuyasha is 200 years old, she is at least 500 and therefore older, despite appearing younger. This works in a way that ‘Twilight’ never did, because of the reincarnation angle.
Tumblr media
Kagome is patient – she’s been patient for 500 years, after all – and continues to be there, waiting for Inuyasha to let go of the past, symbolised by the phantom of Kikyo.
This is not really a love triangle – Kikyo and Kagome are the same person. Kagome learns to realise this. At one point, she finds herself in Kikyo's memories of the day she was killed, and Kagome even yells at Kikyo something to the effect of, 'That's not him! He would never do that! Why can't you see it!?' This is her remembering her own past life and reflecting on how blind she once was. But not anymore - she has learned, and she is a seer.
Kikyo is not a threat. She is a figment of the past, and both Inuyasha and Kagome need to let that past go. This is symbolised when Kagome is tested and held over the cliff by a fake Kikyo, and Kagome has to let go of her hand and declares that she doesn’t need to worry about her – she is enough in herself.
Inuyasha finally comes to see that it’s time to move forward. This is him overcoming trauma, pain and anger. He doesn't simply move on with Kagome once Kikyo dies for good - this is him releasing himself from the past and moving forward with the same lover, but in her older, wiser form. This is the moment that the anger dies. All that matters about Kikyo lives on as Kagome. He isn't choosing one over the other, because there is only one woman.
By the end, when Inuyasha has faced his demons (Naraku and more), he is a whole person and finally able to embrace true love. Kagome, as well, in all these incarnations has learned to accept and love for real. She doesn’t want to de-claw him anymore. She never wants him to go full human, but also doesn’t want him to go full demon – because it is vital that we find balance between our animal and civilized sides. It’s a Buddhist notion, this treading the middle path. Inuyasha is the ‘perfect man’ (I mean that as the western magical term), in the sense that he is equal parts beast and human / instinct and intellect. Neither aspect overwhelms the other – and Kagome is the one who teaches him how to walk this path and be whole.
Kagome gives Inuyasha the acceptance he needs to love himself and therefore love her and see love in others. At the end, when he declares to the demons in the crystal that he was born to meet her and she was born to meet him, he doesn’t just mean as Kagome – he means first as Kikyo and now as Kagome. Their karma is entangled. They have been on this path for 50 years (for him) / 500 years (for her). They share a thread of fate. However, it wasn’t their time, 50 years ago. Neither of them was in the right mental place for it to work, yet. And so it was all put on pause, allowing her time to grow, learn, and come back and teach him what she learned along the way, through all those lifetimes of experience, so that they could both grow together and finally be together. I even like to think that now he might begin to age, because he is no longer emotionally stuck to that tree.
When Kagome’s mother so quickly accepts that it’s time for Kagome to leave forever, this is such an eastern viewpoint, as well. Growing up on the location of a shrine, she clearly understands that this is not really her daughter – this is an old soul who incarnated as her daughter in this particular lifetime, and it is now her time to go back and do what she was born to do. She doesn’t belong to her mother. She was on loan, so to speak.
The ending reminded me so much of a novel I’ve read a few times called 'Mipam' by a Tibetan lama named Lama Yongden. It’s quite an interesting story, again about a romantic couple and their fate throughout incarnations.
So Kikyo is bothersome – but it’s because she is the immature form of Kagome before the benefit of 500 years’ worth of lives / experience. As a soul, she learned love along the way, to the point of becoming someone who can love nearly anyone and anything. Kagome forgives so much – including Sesshomaru and Kouga, who are rather abominable, if you think about their beginnings in the story. I see Kagome as a bodhisattva (another Buddhist concept), choosing to incarnate even when she no longer has to, in order to pass on her wisdom to others and teach everyone the path of love. And in true bodhisattva fashion, she isn’t really aware of it during this lifetime – she is humility.
So there you have it – a love triangle…but between two people! Inuyasha never chose one woman over the other, because they are the same - you can’t have Kagome without Kikyo. Kikyo struggles with it because she knows that part of herself will be gone forever (the anger). Kagome struggles with it because anger is hard to release, and yet she just wants it gone already! But they are not distinct characters, if seen from an eastern philosophical perspective - which we have to do, because the foundation of the story is that Kagome is Kikyo’s reincarnation.
That perspective is essential to understanding what’s happening, who they both are, and the ending / the path everyone takes. Inuyasha has that revelation by the end and accepts that she will return to him because they have been on this path for so long, and been separated before – by death, no less – and she still came back to him.
And when Kagome dies, I can only imagine he will wait for her to return to him in some other form, or he will die too and join her somewhere - because they were not simply born for each other as Inuyasha and Kagome but as their two souls underneath those physical forms.

Speaking of SessKik, I’m actually starting to really low-key get into that ship. Ngl, at first I thought they might be a little too similiar and cold to ever really work together but I remember someone explaining the appeal of the dynamic in that it’s basically two prideful racists coming together/clashing and having to subvert their preconceptions of the other’s race and each other. Plus the fact that they’re both fundamentally lonely people but extremely good with kids (Yashahime Sesshomaru will never be my Sesshomaru) could give them something to bond over. Also what’s more taboo than a Miko being with a hanyou? How about an honest to god full-blooded youkai instead?
The ship would honestly be great character development for the both of them because they’d be forced unlearn and unpack their prejudices by basically confronting their mirror self.
Tumblr media
It's precisely because Sesshomaru and Kikyo are so similar that they would make such a great match. Inuyasha and Kagome are only opposites on a surface level. Deep down, they're actually very alike and that's why they work perfectly together: they're different in every possible way except for the ones that matter, the ones that could make those differences irreconcilable. Sesskik would the morally gray version of that.
The fact that they're both stoic, pragmatic, arrogant, self-centered and prideful characters allows them to understand each other better than anyone else ever would because they operate in the exact same frequency.
Tumblr media
Not only that, but putting them together would have made perfect sense, story telling wise. They're both lone wolves with similar goals and similar ways to achieve them, acting on the sidelines. Plus, they share the same soft spot for children — as long as the children in question aren't related to them, it seems — and have special bonds with Kohaku and Rin. It feels only natural that they'd team up at some point.
Then, of course, there's the fact that Kikyo is dead and feeding off women's souls while Sesshomaru is the only character to have a sword that brings people back to life and a parent with ilimited access to an amulet that opens and closes portals to the underworld.
I know her situation is more complicated than simply snatching a soul from hell — for many reasons — but in a series such as Inuyasha, where everything is possible, is not really a reach to theorize that if someone had the means to really bring Kikyo back from the dead, it would've been Sesshomaru. Even if he couldn't, the idea of the two of them interacting is still thematically intriguing.
There are also rumors about an interview where Takahashi said Kikyo is the type of woman Sesshomaru would take romantic interest in and I can't help but agree, since the only woman who canonically caught his eyes was Kagura, an independent woman who was smarter than him — which isn't very hard —, had a lot of guts and just wished to be free, a woman he couldn't save even though he wanted to. It's not hard to picture Kikyo in the same role.
Tumblr media
The tragic way Kagura dies by Naraku's hand, therefore ending any romantic development with Sesshomaru, could become a parallel with the tragic way Kikyo died by Naraku's hand, therefore ending any romantic development with Inuyasha, the brother Sesshomaru despises. The room for angst and conflict is amazing.
To me the appeal lies exactly on the point you made: the creative choice of putting Sesshomaru and Kikyo together would pay off in great character development for the both of them by subverting their preconceptions of each other and unlearning the prejudice they still held against each other's races.
I love the idea of Sesshomaru finally making enough progress to love a human in a romantic way, someone who would see him not as simply his father's son, but as his own person, like Kagura did.
I love the idea of Kikyo falling for a demon without the safety net of eventually turning them human, someone who, in the most extraordinary of ways, makes her feel evey bit the ordinary woman she always wanted to be.
They would have been able to see through each other's poker faces and feel actually seen, in a way they haven't quite been seen before: for everything that they are. Not just his father's son and not just the embodiment of purety and perfection in the shape of a village priestess.
Sesshomaru and Kikyo are equals. There are no power imbalances, no idealizing each other, no putting each other on a pedestal because they refuse to acknowledge each other's flaws. They're both intimidating people who can not be intimidate by each other and would be totally comfortable being themselves around one another without fear of judgement or putting their partners in a position where they have to constantly make up excuses for their behavior.
Basically, they could have helped to progress each other's character development and pushed the plot forward while still making thematic and narrative sense, with the plus of fixing most of the things that personally bothered me in Inuyasha and Kikyo's relationship.
It's funny because at the same time I have complained about how much I hate that Inuyasha doesn't feel like himself when he's with Kikyo, acting all reserved, sad and cautious, without his signature fiery temper and dog like mannerism, I've seen people gushing about how mature he is around her and outside I'm like "to each their own", but inside I'm screaming: Sesskik. You want Sesskik!
It also doesn't hurt that they're aesthetically pleasing to look at: elegant, lethal and composed. And Takahashi seems to agree there was wasted potential there because it very much looks like she tried to make up for it with these Mao characters. Yes, I know same face syndrome is a thing and so is coincidence, but come one, now.
Tumblr media
Their separate personalities didn't call out to me but together they could have made a very interesting dynamic, even if it was only platonic, because asexuality, aromaticity and homosexuality still fits them very well and wouldn't be an impediment for the found family trope and being single is different from being lonely.
I understand the reasons Takahashi didn't go there, though, because it would have taken real work to make it right and to be honest I've always been more invested in the Inugang, anyway. But the potential was there.

Fandom: Shaman King Flowers
Characters: Yosuke, Kagome
Word Count: 912
This fic is for that one anon on Aonik's tumbler and Aonik too I guess. There's art this was based off of and y'all welcome its becoming public now. Also I got the AU wrong to for the art. Whoops?
Kagome's not stupid. She's seen the IOUs scattered around Yosuke's messy apartment when he thinks no one's looking. They're loans really, with interest rates so high they're only meant to bury someone alive. She doesn't know why Yosuke feels the need to flash around money he doesn't have. He could have less debt living out of a modest apartment and dressed in the simple attire of his youth. Instead he's 21, dressed to the nines, and suffocating under whatever self imposed persona he has.
She's never given the impression she's into money has she?
Yet she doesn't say no to the single shoulder dark blue dress that hugs her perfectly and has a slit up one leg. She should turn it down because she see's the IOU for it peeking out from under a fashion magazine on the coffee table, but she looks so damn good in it. If Yosuke wants to destroy himself then she should get to have one night where she doesn't have to worry about him.
When Yosuke comes out of his bedroom she half expects him to be in a coat with tails.
“Something wrong?” Yosuke asks, adjusting his bow tie and unaware of what she's just been looking at.
“Just not what I was expecting. It's modest for you these days,” Kagome answers, taking in the black suspenders over his white dress shirt. Her eye's glance at the IOU as she nudges it further out of sight and she has to wonder if all of his budget for whatever this is went to her.
“When you're crashing a party it's best not to standout,” Yosuke answers, his arms snaking around her waist and a little lower than she'd prefer.
“We're crashing a party? I thought this was for your job?”
What job she's not sure. She's pretty sure Yosuke should be homeless yet he always defies all odds and she allows herself to keep following it blindly.
“It is,” Yosuke answers, before his eyes narrow, “I wasn't invited.”
“You're not even going to get in the door.”
If they are dressed this nicely then it has to be a high class event. Someone is going to be watching the door ensuring only those on the guest list enter.
“I can just reattach the tags and your can return it and get your money back.”
“Keep it. It looks good,” Yosuke whispers pulling her closer.
She has her clutch up and blocking Yosuke before his lips can try anything. She loves him, she really does, but she also doesn't like whatever he's become. She wants the old Yosuke back. She's not going to let him kiss her with those lying lips.
“I'm not stupid, Yosuke,” she replies, prying his fingers off easily so she can reach down and grab the IOU and shove it at him. “You've got hundreds of these littered around. I thought your mom taught you good spending habits?”
“Everyone has a little debt, Kagome,” Yosuke shrugs.
“This isn't a little debt. Do you even have any money? Do you think I won't look at you if you're poor?”
“It's complicated,” Yosuke huffs.
“It's not,” Kagome answers poking a finger at his chest, “I don't care what you can or can't buy me Kamogawa Yosuke. I care about the nerdy little boy I went to school with before whatever this is happened.”
“Then you're wasting your time, Kagome. He's dead. He's dead because nobody cared, but now somebody does.”
“Using you so you wrack up a debt isn't caring, Yosuke, and you're wrong. I've always cared about you.”
“Well you shouldn't have,” Yosuke yells, and Kagome's not sure the last time she's seen him get truly angry. It's a crack in the mask. It's a glimpse back at the boy who faded away.
“We can get this under control,” Kagome softens, her hand cupping Yosuke's face.
“I'm not taking you down with me,” Yosuke mumbles, not meeting her eyes.
“That's not your choice, Yosuke. It's mine.”
“Just keep the dress and leave. I don't feel like going out anymore.”
He's defeated and she doesn't know why. She's always reaching her hand out to him and he always refuses it. She doesn't understand why he doesn't want to be pulled up from whatever pit he's in.
“I'm sorry,” Kagome whispers, but it's too late. He's shut down again. He's closed off. What was supposed to be another nice evening is ruined before it's even started. It seems all they do is fight. Maybe it's all Yosuke thinks he deserves.
She leaves him because staying never accomplishes anything. The IOUs keep piling up. He refuses to listen to reason, and Kagome can only break her own heart so much.
The IOU for her dress sits crumpled in her hand. She'll return it or at least she'll try her best to return it without the receipt because Yosuke would never give that to her. She'll find the rest of the money as well. She can't pay off all of Yosuke's debt but she can at least pay off this one. She can march into the building of the Yahabe corporation and see at least what Yosuke has gotten himself into that he insists he can't get back out of.
She'll save him. She'll save him even if he'll never look at her again for doing it.

How To Tame A Sorcerer: Side Stories (15)
Main Story
Side Stories
Multiverse One Night
Satoru jerks awake. His chest rises rapidly. Where is he? He was in the prison realm and now…his mind screeches to a halt.
Someone — something powerful is in the area. Satoru goes to move the cover off him and freezes. Kagome. She's asleep. But this isn't their room. She stirs and when her eyes open, his heart jumps.
"Kagome," he murmurs fervently. He reaches for her, pulling her into his lap.
"Uh Satoru, what are you—mhm!"
He kisses her. Claims her. It was just this morning when he saw her last, but how much time passed while he was in the realm? His hand slide down, gripping her thigh. They're fuller. She moans, threading her fingers in his hair. His other hand slides down, grips her thigh, and then moves down to tease her slit through her thin shorts. Satoru groans. She's wet.
Fuck. She's wet. He slips his hand inside her shorts and nearly comes. Feels like an eternity since he's touched her.
Kagome plants her hands on his chest and pulls away before he can touch her how he so desperately wants to. "What was that?" Her eyes are wild. Her full lips are swollen.
His brows furrow. His chest is wet. Wait…why is his chest wet? He glances down at her chest. Are her tits leaking? The pink tank top is only wet at her breasts. That doesn't make any…He blinks at the sight of a crib.
"Satoru," Kagome huffs. "You can't just kiss me whenever you feel like it."
"I can't?" He swallows. Did he do something wrong? "You don't like kissing me anymore?" He moves his hand away reluctantly and places it on her other thigh.
She blinks. "We don't kiss? I mean, yeah, that night, but that was a one time thing."
One time thing? He wets his lips. "One time? I can't do one times with you. I thought that was clear when I—" Where is her ring? "You took your ring off?"
Kagome stares at him. "You never gave me a ring. I mean you asked what size I am, but you've never given me a ring." She places her palm on his forehead. "Are you okay? Look, sleep deprivation is a thing. Koushi and I can stay at the shrine tonight so you can get some rest."
"Koushi?"
Her eyes narrow as she removes his hand from her thigh. "Your son," she replies flatly.
Satoru glances over at the crib again and wordlessly eases Kagome off his lap. She had the baby? Then that wetness must have been milk? He swallows. Koushi blinks up at him and stretches his arms out. Satoru lifts him and cuddles him to his chest.
"Did something happen last night with your missions?" Kagome asks.
He turns towards her and presses his lips into a thin line. "I don't remember last night or Koushi's birth."
"You weren't at Koushi's birth. And yesterday, we went to the Gojo clan estate to introduce Koushi to your father."
The Gojo clan was wiped out. His father long since dead. "I wouldn't miss my son's birth. No matter how angry you might be at me."
"Angry?" She crosses her arms. "Satoru, I'm not angry at you for not being there. It was just a one night stand. We didn't exchange information."
One night stand?
"One night? You say you aren't angry at me, but now you're reducing our relationship to only one night?" He wets his lips again, mindful that he has a baby in his arms. He needs to calm down. "Kagome, just tell me what I did so I can fix this."
Kagome scratches her head. "No, Satoru. You aren't listening. I'm not angry. We were never in a relationship. I get you think we have to be because of Koushi, but that's not true. You shouldn't tie yourself down just because we have a kid together. I mean, what if—"
Crack.
"Sorry," he says, sucking in a breath. Koushi turns his head and looks at the cracked window. Satoru grits his teeth. "I don't want anyone else. I'm in love with you. Did InuYasha say something to you?"
Kagome freezes.
That bastard did say something to her.
He'll fucking kill him.
"How do you know InuYasha?"
His body shakes. "How can I not when he came to our home trying to win you back? What changed? Was I gone too long? Did he set me up?" Satoru seethes. "Did he? He set me up to get sealed?"
Kagome shakes her head and gets off the bed. "One, put Koushi back in his crib." Kagome watches him as he does so. He blows out a breath, trying to get himself under control. "Two, why would InuYasha try to seal you? I still don't know how you and InuYasha even know each other. As far as being gone too long…we just reconnected the other night when those curses tried to seal you."
Satoru glances back at Koushi and then at Kagome. His fists shake at his sides. This isn't his Kagome. The way she is talking to him right now is not how his Kagome would talk to him, no matter how angry she is.
"I was never sealed?"
"No…I managed to free you. It's only been two days since we've reconnected."
Satoru's nostrils flare. His six eyes tell him her energy is Kagome. His heart tells him she isn't his Kagome. But his soul knows that somewhere in there is Kagome. His brain hurts.
"I think Koushi, and I should just go—"
"No," he says, softly. "Your memories don't match what's in my heart." He runs a hand through his hair. "You aren't a demon, so I know it isn't Yakeru or Shippo playing a trick. But you aren't my Kagome. I don't know what you are." He glances back at Koushi. The six eyes. He has them too.
Kagome steps toward him. "You know about demons? Shippo?" Her eyes are hopeful. She places a hand on his chest, but he jerks away. "Seriously?"
"Sorry," he says, but he's not. He can't shake this gut feeling. She isn't his Kagome. He doesn't want any Kagome but his. "I need to get back to my world?"
Kagome picks up Koushi and bounces him. "What was our relationship…in your world?"
She believes him? The bewilderment must show on his face because she just shrugs.
"You know of demons, and people close to me you shouldn't. And you're way too freaked out. I've seen crazier things."
He sighs and sits down on the bed. "For one, we're together. Been together since you fell from the sky into my lap." He smiles. Back then, he deluded himself into believing he had to keep her with him because of the higher-ups. That they would have done something. They may have, he isn't 100% sure. But he knows now that something deeper was calling to him then.
Fate?
"The well opened up, and you thought it was a sign to go back…to InuYasha, but the well lead you to me. The attraction was always there on my end and over time, we just sort of fell into a relationship." He rubs the back of his neck. "We're kind of engaged. I haven't formally proposed with the second ring."
"Second ring?" She sits down next to him. Koushi reaches for him.
Is this what their child will look like? Satoru takes Koushi and bounces him on his lap. "I got you three, not that my Kagome knows that. The first one is a promise ring. The second one is for engagement, and the third is for the wedding." He stops bouncing Koushi and boops his nose. Koushi giggles and twists his finger.
What the fuck?
Satoru winces. "Uh, and Shippo calls me dad sometimes. Demons have glamours they use to blend in. You're pregnant with our child. A demon, Yakeru's sister, kidnapped you for our kid and that's how we found out you were expecting. Because of that, Sesshomaru usually hangs out with you while I'm working." He glances at Kagome from the corner of his eye. She looks close to tears.
"Why did you think InuYasha tried to seal you?"
"Because he came to our house with flowers and expecting you to leave me for him. And that day, you were supposed to go out with Sesshomaru to enjoy Halloween, but Sesshomaru sent InuYasha instead. Shippo was in Shibuya with me when things started to go down."
"You let him talk to me?"
"I trust my Kagome. And I'd kill another man before I let them try to take you from me."
Kagome's eyes widen. She crosses her arms and looks away, but her face is red. Satoru quirks a brow. Come to think of it, Kagome got pretty heated at the exchange event after he shot off that hollow purple.
He turns his attention back to Koushi, who has yet to let go of his finger. "At any rate, I just want to get back home to my Kagome."
"I don't know how to…did she make this locket?" Kagome grabs the locket. She opens it and a small smile appears on her face. "She did. Koushi come here." Kagome takes Koushi back and holds him with one arm. She inspects the locket. "I might be able to add some more energy to it. I'm not sure if it will help or not."
Satoru looks down at the locket and smiles. "For the record, I think your Satoru would love nothing more than to kiss you."
Kagome flushes. "He just wants to sleep with me again."
Satoru hums. "Size 7 ring."
She shakes her head. "No matter the version, you, Satorus, are a handful." Kagome focuses on the locket, and the energy leaps from the locket towards him. His body is light. He blinks and it feels like he is falling.
Satoru sucks in a breath.
Please take him back to Kagome.
***
A/N: I didn't watch the whole 11 hours and 27 minutes of the Satoru video, but I got so triggered by it I ended up writing this lol. Thousand Days should be up on Friday. I should have been working on it today but this wouldn't leave me alone.
"Have the cat shikigami been named?" - Not yet, we'll let Megumi have the honors since Shippo traumatized him.
"Can curse energy be eliminated by Kagome?" - She could make a wish but who knows how that would affect Satoru or the twins...and everyone else.
"Will they be more acceptable of the kitten?" - The other shikigami don't hate Buyo Jr. It's just that he is trying to be the leader and they're kinda like pfttt whatever dude. But yes they will accept the cat shikigami and any other shkigami that Megumi manages to 'steal' from Kagome.
Hope you are having a great Wednesday! Make sure you take your vitamins and drink your water. The weather has been crazy over here. And make sure to keep refilling your well!
Here's a sneak peak at a future side story:
Shippo sits down at the table with Nanami and Ijichi, and flashes them a smirk.
"It's too early," Nanami says, sipping his coffee. It's too early and yet Nanami is wearing an ironed suit that Jaken fetched for him. Ijichi tugs at his tie and then fusses with his hair as though it isn't slicked down enough.
"It's never too early," Shippo chimes. "Besides I've been thinking and I gotta know something." He leans forward, his tail swishes behind him.
"Gojo, get your son," Nanami says.
Satoru sits next to Shippo and drums his fingers on the table. "He hasn't done anything?" he says, but it comes out like a question.
Shippo leans to the side, brushing against Satoru, and wipes a fake tear from his eye. "At least my papa believes in me."
Nanami scoffs. Ijichi fidgets.
"Just out with it then," Nanami mutters.
"Okay!" Shippo perks up. "What kind of hentai do you watch? You seem more like a plot-over-the-porn kind of guy. Or do you like it when they just get to the point and fuck all over the house, gym, forest, whatever you're into?" He waves a hand in the air.
"…What?"
"Man, there was this one I was watching where the plot was so good, I stopped mid stroke." Shippo shakes his head. A shame he doesn't remember the title. It was a good one too, the story was just chef's kiss. There was an assassination attempt, some plot to throw over the neighboring country, and some overpowered protagonist that didn't know they were the chosen one.
Ah…he should really try to find that one again.
"Gojo," Nanami says through clenched teeth. "Do something."
"Ah, Shippo, you should wait until lunchtime to ask those kinds of questions." Satoru scratches his head. "It's a bit early."
Shippo pouts. "Are you humans truly that sensitive to the time of day?"
"Humans don't like to talk about those kinds of things over breakfast, or lunch, or dinner," Ijichi explains, pushing his glasses up with his finger.
"Huh? I asked Mama and she said she was more of a plot person."
"…What?" Satoru asks. "Kagome watches porn?"

Kikyou & Kagome 'Did you Die' Meme
I did a thing xD
This is a poke at people who said Kikyou was trying to kill her. Like pls. If Kikyou was actively trying to kill the dramatic baby, she easily could have. Kagome would have been pushing up daisies in a heart beat but no, she left her as is. People out here really underestimating how powerful and knowledgeable Kikyou is. It would take very little effort honestly, to kill Kagome. Having power is one thing, but being able to access, utilize and direct it makes a huge difference.
And if we want to look at this meme from an angst perspective--Kagome should be grateful she is still alive. She isn't dead--whereas madam dies at least three times. So the question is pretty valid coming from Kikyo.

Note
So I 'love' how some kagome stans find any reason to hate Kikyou. One of the biggest ones they claim is that Kikyou tried to kill Kagome. In my opinion, with Kikyou's abilities and knowledge, if she wanted Kagome dead, she could have done it so easily and at any point in time. Also given who she was as a person, she'd have made it quick and painless. The fact she simply wrapped her in vines is not enough for me to agree with that assumption. So that point of Kikyou trying to kill Kagome is just groundless to me.
They also try to make Kagome a saint when she is far from a saint. At least with Kikyou, we acknowledge her flaws [still perfect even with flaws] and mistakes. They say Kagome always willingly go save her--but it isn't really because she is pure of heart. She simply knows Inuyasha cares and pretty sure if she didn't do something, he'd be upset. It's not reallly out of the niceness of her heart.
There is darkness in Kagome's heart which the baby clearly exploited--but people keep forgetting this.
Kikyou doesn't interfere much and yet receives alll the hate--more so than the actual villains which is tragic. Kikyou may have her quiet jealously, but Kagome's jealously was very toxic which people fail to take account. Not only would she abuse the sit, be it anime or manga, but if she is particularly mad, use Koga to make Inuyasha upset.
I literally can write an essay on this but I thought I'd share and hear your thoughts on it too.
Everything you said are my thoughts too. In short, yours thoughts, my opinion. I will just add that I often see the accusation that "Kikyou wanted to take him to hell, but Kagome stopped him" Forgetting that Inuyasha had no objection to going to hell with her. I think they ignore it specifically so they can hate Kikyou. they will ignore Kagome to always must look like a "saint" and the one who loves and cares.
Thank you for sharing your opinion with me, which is also mine 🥺✨ You made me really happy!!!
If you decide to do an essay, go ahead! I support you with all my heart!
I hope I haven't disappointed you too much? But we both really think the same thing and I'm so glad I'm not the only one!! Thank you again for sharing with me

Koga
Tumblr media
This here is Koga “You gone be my woman today”
Also known as Koga “I don’t give a damn if you got a man. Tell that nigga I want all the smoke

Like noo playboy keep that same energy
Tumblr media
I'll be strong for you daddy Koga!!!
Please just give me one chance
You can't tell me this man wont worship the ground I walk on
I just know he'll make sure I have everything i could ever need
I could get lost in those ocean blue eyes
Kagome don't know what to do with that
Like girl these men are trash nowadays you better hop on that
Young me just did not get what was so hard
Like this man clearly has some strong as feelings for you and you want the one that's hung up on his ex

Like the beef was always on sight
My girl Kagome had them fighting over the pussy
that is until Kikiyo came around then she's on her own
And we not finna sit here and act like Koga wasn't feeding Inuyasha them feet

Hit his ass with that sweet chin music
Tumblr media
Yall heard it here first if a man ever does this to me im folding like freshly dried laudry
im sorry baby i still love you

everybody deserves something like this
Koga never had a problem with telling Kagome that he loved her
i honestly think thats what i love so much about his chareter

Tumblr media
Now that we passed that babydaddy
HARPO WHO IS THIS WOMAN

and you just acting like my girl Ayame don`t exist
I was confused as hell when she stepped on the scene
I was like now wait a damn minute sis I called dibs first

like Koga deadass treated her like she was a redheaded stepchild
my boy said no face no case
I was like nobody is safe, all of these men are trash
like God the men you are giving us suck, like can you drop a new update or something please
just when you think you got a good one, here come the wife from the woodworks
like bitch where were you earlier when he was pouring his heart6 out
I then fell for him now bitch, now we gotta share him
Tumblr media
I can truthfully say that Koga is the reason that I would fuck a werewolf now
yea I said it, I would 100% without a doubt throw it back for a werewolf call me what you want but a coward isn't one of them
And I'm not talking about some oh maybe if there weren't any other choices no, they the first choice
Look at Kagome yawl see how happy she looks
she loves it over there
I bet he gives good hugs
But in all seriousness, I probably would have folded for Koga
Seeing as how Sesshomaru and I aren't talking anymore
Raggedy bitch
I feel like yea he's a safe choice because I know he'll love me unconditionally but it's nothing wrong with that
I don't always want somebody that I have to fight for
Tumblr media
So that's how I feel about my boy Koga
And oh my goodness it's been so long since I've done one of these
Like I almost forgot how I use to do these
But you can never forget the thirst that is forever
You always end up coming back to your roots
And besides I missed y'all
But imma end it there if it's any mistakes I'll just come back and fix them
But it's like 12 in the morning and i just got the sudden urge to do this
But Imma head out ya'll stay thirsty my hoes

Inu-Mothership Spotlight Saturday Sept. 17, 2022: Bankotsu!
Hello everyone! We here at the Inu-Mothership are pleased to bring you our latest Spotlight Saturday Character Fic Rec list!
This week's list focuses on one of our favorite resident bad boy hotties, Bankotsu! The leader of the Band of Seven, with a sexy braid and halberd to match, Bankotsu is the focus of a wide variety of stories (although, not usually fluff 😅)
Because many stories that feature Bankotsu tend to be dark, we have cited any Ao3 CWs underneath the fic summaries. Please be sure to read them, and to consult the tags on both Ao3 and FFN (such as they may be) before proceeding.
We've divided this week's rec list into two categories: stories that feature Bankotsu as a major ship, and stories that are Gen/feature Bankotsu prominently (they may not be Bankotsu-specific ships). Stories are listed in alphabetical order, and include ship(s), rating, and status (ongoing or completed). We hope that you enjoy this week's list!
Bankotsu-ship fics
Beneath the Darkness in My Bones (KogKag/BankKag; M; ongoing) by @cryysiswritesthings
Horror is all she knows. Darkness is in his blood. She is the other half of his soul, and his calls for her echo long into the night.
CW for graphic depictions of violence; rape/non-con
Confessions (BankKag; T; complete) by Uchimi (Ao3)
Bankotsu’s musings with Banryuu over Kagome, and his second chance at life.
In the Band of Seven only Renkotsu and Jakotsu remain within the Mt. Hakurei arc.
Diamonds in Your Eyes -- Chapter 24: SanBank, Theme Park, Garnet (SanBank; M; ongoing) by @moon-ion/thetroll (Ao3)

Everything’s Made to Be Broken (SanBank; E; ongoing) by AStarlessOnyx (Ao3)
Bankotsu stuffs his hands into his dark jeans, stepping closer to her. The alley is dark, the only light coming from the street lamps at the very end. It smells like cat piss and vomit and it was stupid for her to come out here alone but she's all lean muscle under that tight dress, probably thinks she can handle any thugs that come her way. He smirks; well he can tell she hasn't met a nightmare like him before. His shoes scoff against the concrete as she lights up, those chestnut eyes snapping up to his face. Such a pretty face, he wants to ruin it.
"Sneaking away for a smoke, Taijiya?"
Her eyes narrow, cold enough to send chills up his spine. He can't help the grin that splits his lips, fingers twitching in his pockets.
"What do you want?" she hisses, voice like ice and Bankotsu bites back a groan. He's going to really enjoy breaking her.
"Isn't it obvious?" he sneers.

They started with Kyōkotsu, and I felt nothing. When Mukotsu was gone, I felt relief. Ginkotsu and Renkostu mourned one another, so what was my purpose feeling anything? And Suikotsu accepted his fate in silence. Jakotsu looked to me for comfort, and I hoped my gaze brought him solace. When I watched them take Banryu away I truly started to feel something, but do I regret a single thing? Absolutely not.
CW for major character death

Hi, do you have some recommendations for the "inukag as cat/dog parents" or maybe one of them as adoptive parents of a stray animal? Thank you so much! 😊😊
Hey @chit-a-to ! We love seeing our dog-boy as a cat-mom (or dog, or horse) so thank you for this ask! We hope you enjoy this list of predominantly -- but not exclusively-- modern AU's from across the ratings spectrum, so please do check individual fics for additional tags.
Tumblr media
Dumplin' by MooMiscief (E)
She was officially settled working from home, she owned her own house and the time had come for her to get a puppy. Until a gruff volunteer gave her sass, until said volunteer gave her his number, and until she realized maybe was interested in him for more than dog tips.

Cat Person by @arisukingdom (G)
Inuyasha is a cat person, and every cat person needs to meet his first cat at some point in life. So here it goes a little Inu finding out what a cat is and trying to bring a cat to a dog house.
--

Begin Again by @coccinellesroses (T)

Kagome has moved into a new apartment, and she looks forward to a brighter future where she leaves the baggage of a toxic relationship behind. Rooming with her best cat Buyo, Kagome starts to experience the fun of living alone. Although, she didn't count on her neighbor being a cute half-demon.
She also didn't expect to develop a crush on him either.
--
How To Train Your Dog Demon by @anxietyaardvark (M)
Izayoi is tired of Inuyasha's excuses. All he does is work; despite his protests, she knows he's lonely. She decides to get him a companion to get him out of the house, and when she finds a no-nonsense dog trainer with great reviews, ulterior motives take over.
--
The Cat Came Back by @fawn-eyed-girl (T)
When Kagome and Shippō adopt a stray cat from a village, Inuyasha is incensed. Cats (who aren’t Kirara, of course) just cause trouble; don’t they know that?
And then, Kagome goes home to study for an exam, and Inuyasha is left with a cat he doesn’t want, but who has suddenly decided he is the most interesting person in all of Musashi.

Little By Little by LittleKnownArtist (E)
Post Manga. After the three year separation, Inuyasha and Kagome are finally together as a couple. There will be little bumps in the road along the way, but its all part of the learning experience. And they plan to learn everything about and every inch of the other-little by little.

Must Love Dogs by WakingPriestess (NR)
Taking her dog to the park was a sure fire way to get a dose of serotonin. But the sight of a scary looking dog being lonely and unable to make new friends broke Kagome's heart. Thankfully she had the sweetest pup in the world who was also a little intimidating and also looking for new friends. The owner being drop dead gorgeous was just a bonus.
--
Chai. by @inusunflower (E)
In which Kagome and Inuyasha fight over the custody of their shared corgi, Chai.
--
Ramen by @writemydaydreams (T)
Three years is a long time to be separated from the person you love. Inuyasha had to find a way to cope with Kagome's absence and the possibility he may never see her again. Sometimes support comes from the last place you expect it.
--
Quarantine (series) by @superpixie42 (E)

--
Light Me A Lantern by @inuyashasforest (T)
Picking up the pieces after being separated for three years isn't as easy as it may seem. A quiet, burning kind of chaos sweeps through Feudal Japan, and it's going to take a lot more than a fairy tale ending to put things back together. They defeated a man who would become the Devil. Can they survive a man who would become a God?
--
You Rescued Me by @keizfanfiction (E)
Maybe it was fate that he decided to take the back way home that night, but whatever the reason, Inuyasha was grateful for arriving just in the nick of time to rescue a waif of a woman who had clearly been through hell. He never would have imagined that she would end up rescuing him, too.
--
Max by KittyKatz (T)
It was business as usual until Kagome's family adopts her father's canine partner. A short 3-chapter blurb about a military working dog joining ranks with the inu-gang. [T - Inuyasha's potty mouth]
--
Guard Dog by @keizfanfiction (T)
Kagome moves into her very first house and decides to introduce herself to her new neighbor with the scrumptious gift of Oreos. She had no idea she'd be leaving as a new dog owner.
--

While it's true that Kikyo gets double standard hate, I find it interesting how some of them hate Kagome for a thought crime even though she's the character with the most reason to dislike Kikyo. Wishing thd dead stayed dead esp when they hurt you and your crush isn't that bad and I'm sure most of them wouldn't be half as forgiving. Kagome could've stayed hating her but she tried to change her perspective. And what about the others who acted on their bad thoughts and did way worse than she did?
Tbh nowadays I see a lot more hate towards Kagome than hate towards Kikyo in the fandom at large. I feel like most people who hated Kikyo "grew out of it", since a lot of the hate she used to get was from young girls who shipped Inukag and didn't have any sympathy for what Kikyo went through and thought she was just "in the way". Now that the fandom is older people dislike Kagome more because they forgot what it's like to be 15 and have irrational emotions and reactions 🤷‍♀️
I completely agree with everything else you said, I talked about this in this other ask I answered. If people are going to complain about misogynistic takes in the fandom, they should direct their hate at male characters who have actually done horrible things (like Sesshomaru and Koga) instead of hating another woman whose worst crimes are over-using a slapstick comedy gag and being childish sometimes 🙃

Ao3 ask!
3. What work are you most proud of (regardless of kudos/hits)? 8. Pairing you wrote the most for this year? 16. What’s your most common “Additional Tags” tag?
Hope you're having a wonderful day, love!
Hi @sereia1313 !!! Always so lovely to see you in my inbox 🥰🥰🥰 I'm so sorry for the late reply!
3. I'll forever be proud of "Courage and Strength"! That story really came from my heart, and I was so excited to portray such an emotional moment between Kagome and her mother.
8. This year, I wrote the most for MidoKirin! I decided to dedicate the 31 days of Flufftober 2022 just to them (which I have not completed yet, oops). They're just so fun to explore since there isn't much backstory for them, and @shade-without-color and I have kind of adopted them and made up our own canon for the pairing. Pry them from our cold, dead hands, Sunrise! *shakes fist*
16. I don't think I really have an "Additional Tags" tag that I frequently use. I guess it would be "SesshoumaruxSango" because I want to make sure people don't miss it hehe because we're such a large fandom 🙃 (but actually 🥺 on the inside). I use it as the shiny keys to get people's attention lmaoooo. I should probably come up with something better 🤣
Thank you so much for these questions, and I hope you're having the loveliest of days and a relaxing weekend! 💜💜💜
