no but i can't get over how actually well done the last few days were. announce a surprise and not 48 hours later we find out that 1) tour movie, the same thing taylor swift did a few months ago and now everyone wants plus we know it's a show they worked super hard on, 2) it's free, excellent for anyone who couldn't afford to go etc (we've all been there) and out literally right now on a (mostly) free platform (the very same one that they got started on but anyway) and perhaps most notably, 3) it's free with the hopes that you might instead of paying for it donate to gaza, and the links are right there.

like they could've charged us $20 each for the show and sent all their profits there themselves (with the hope that we believe they're being honest that it's 100%, for them of course we would but i know others have lied about similar). but instead they gave us autonomy over our donation just like. encouraged it. like cmon who wouldn't listen when ashton tells us to donate to something if we can? (also did anyone else say so, i'm not the best at keeping up with social media so lmk if there's more of them to give credit to here). anyway we gotta talk about it more. how perfectly this was done: we get a gift!! be it for christmas if you celebrate or just in general, that we expected we'd have to pay for. now we get asked, hey, if you have any money could you send it to these people who Really Need It So Badly if you can? I know not all of you do so we won't stop you from watching the movie if you don't but

also this is a really clever way to show their support for gaza. like they are (deliberately i think) trying not to be leaders in an area that they aren't experts in, and there has been a lot of misinformation around, a lot of misunderstanding, like yes they did stand up for ukraine last year but the media was a lot more black and white for that one (or should i say blue and yellow) but when it comes down to it they're not stupid and they're not fooled by whatever the country they currently live in is pushing and they've actually taken their time to not say shit to save face prematurely but actually do something that's, even if not big or dramatic, gonna be impactful? they've not put themselves out there campaigning for a ceasefire, yes, but they've posted links that are. they've not guilted us into donating but please tell me you're not at least feeling some obligation to. it's simple, it's actionable, it's right there in the caption and takes like 20 seconds. and if any of us in the fandom (global family or whatever they're building) are leading in the ceasefire decolonisation space we have our little encouragement to see that yes, these musicians we love aren't gonna sit there and do nothing. it's not monumental, but it's something.

and tbh i wouldn't be surprised if this was all planned like a week ago in a zoom call between australia and the usa when ryan texted to say that the film was done. like it was in their random spontanous lightheated style. i also think we can learn something from the fact that it's okay to not jump on everything the minute it comes out but actually every lasting impact is a long-haul effort that you've gotta sustain yourself for by doing what you love as well. and also sometimes the right opportunity to do something about what we care about comes and you just take it, don't think too hard, don't wait either if you don't need to, if there is a cause that needs your effort whenever you get an opportunity to give it will always be the right time. hopefully they've set a precedent for something--i have no idea if any artist has done similar but i'm really proud of them.

and that's why i don't get the fact that we've been talking about how horrific this genocide is and then going right to which songs they cut or kept. like i would like a live version of you don't go to parties! but i would like an entire fandom to donate to aid for gaza even more and be thinking about why we need a ceasefire and maybe doing something about it even more. i've been unwell yes and under financial and other stress yes but i'm not starving or freezing to death and so i'll take that L and i won't go home. i won't stop talking about what's important. i'm starting to find my voice again and this has been a big inspiration for it between all the discouragement.

have we not figured it out? they're not just dumbasses sometimes they do something towards a cause we really care about so let's give them credit for that. heck they even filmed bad omens in ukraine in 2022 have we forgotten about that? they don't put themselves out there as influential figures in any way but that's sometimes the best way to humanise the people we care about (and i think honestly they just do this naturally because when you're not chasing clout and you're trained to recognise talent and potential talent in even the worst situations, you'll automatically think like that). it's small in the face of everything going on, yes. so am i! and if i learned anything over the last 24 hours it's that small things can be meaningful. this has been to me and i don't doubt to the recipients of the donations of (i hope) an entire fandom.

I agree it is not an excuse, and tbh I would expect him to show integrity in his actions. Was just thinking about what might have led to the shift in mindset.

But also it seems quite immature to me, like I know I myself (as a white person lol) am sometimes taken aback by the idea that I benefit from the system, but then I stop and think about it and decide that I cant be getting offended over such a thing, that I would rather focus on doing good, sharing and amplifying peoples voices, and making sure I do better whenever I can

So if I were Matty, yes I would get upset over shit but I would probably take myself off of social media thats bs anyway (twitter/x to begin with), and would focus on making sure I amplify the right message and voices. No one is saying he should have gone into a detailed presentation on Palestine/Gaza, but what he could have done is use the platform he has to point people in the right direction. He could have pointed to places to get educated, it his take is that influencers shouldnt tell you whats right or wrong.

And then again if you are dating someone and they are not participating in a fucking global boycott you could tell them, educate them (if you care). My partner is not following the updates as much as I do, but I told him - we're not going to Mcds, not buying xyz and I mean we havent ever since.

So like yeah Gabs doesn't have to be educated, but the band and Matty specifically have built themselves around advocating for social issues, so to stop doing that because a bunch of shitheads sometimes misconstrue what you want to say is so lame and immature and honestly wtf

you’re absolutely right! about the starbucks thing, i think my bf got mcdonald’s one time and i called him out and he hasn’t done it since, it’s not… that difficult to give up macdonalds and starbucks and stuff.

and you’re also right that no one’s asking him to do a presentation but the least he could do/ the least they ALL could do is sign the “artists for ceasefire” letter and maybe don’t fucking use the news snippet for consumption if you don’t care enough about it because that just shows me that you’re well aware of the situation and unwilling to do anything about it

Am I a bad person if I really want to listen to Taylor today...not excusing her but I miss her music so much

anon bestie. first, *hugs*. second, i do not know how to stress, plead, implore enough with you all that loving music is not a moral or immoral action. yes, of course there are particular artists i myself would never engage with (and that is due to extremes), and there are artists i just don't like for whatever reason and that's subjective. on the "i would never engage with ___" side, i can say that for myself, confidently understand why, yet recognize i still don't have the right to tell others to follow suit. people have different boundaries, different tastes, and different ways of going about separating their enjoyment from other issues.

i know there's sincere concern about supporting "problematic" artists, particularly financially, and i do think that's an important conversation to have, especially when we're discussing people actively doing harm to others or platforming hate speech. taylor is not an abuser, taylor has not been trumpeting racist or homophobic etc rhetoric. i also realize the issue of complicity has come into play here because of that man, and that's why there's so much anger and hurt and disappointment right now, but ask yourself: does that man, who is not in any way, shape, or form a part of any of her music, have the power to steal that from you? do you feel like you have to suffer the loss of her music, which is clearly valuable to you, over one dirty rag of a man? i've been upset and critical too, but also feel like there's a call for perspective here. taylor alison swift is not causing the world's ills. tbh that man has no significant power or influence even compared to, like, a local politician. bigotry should be confronted and called out. at the same time, this is a microcosm of a conversation, and that doesn't mean it's not important to have it, and that doesn't mean people aren't absolutely valid in their criticism or hurt, what it means is that it is not impacting society as a whole. we get very caught up in fury over small things, especially when it's connected to something we are invested in, because it feels simpler to fix or righteous in some way or like the onus is on us to definitively prove we're upstanding people who don't condone harmful things, and that's fine, but at what point does it become futile? at what point are we just screaming into the void and self-recriminating for approval?

part of what's making this harder is we've connected taylor's music to her very personally, and she has fostered that herself, but i think now is the time to change that a bit. detach it from her however you can and think about what it means to you. you singularly not listening to her on streaming is pennies she won't ever notice are gone, it is causing her zero consequence whatsoever, but it sounds like it's hurting you. that, to me, isn't fair. you're suffering for her mistakes? or because that dude is a dirtbag? you do not have to punish yourself and crawl on your knees for forgiveness because you'd like to play my tears ricochet every once in a while. how exactly is the moral burden on us, as listeners, when we aren't condoning any -isms, we just want to hear songs we love?

i sound hyperbolic here but i'm really serious, it's concerning me that we're tying individual morality - am i a bad person inherently? (bad people don't tend to ask this question because they don't care). does listening to this artist whose work i enjoy taint me in some way because they've done things i disagree with? - to enjoyment of art. it's frighteningly conservative to think that you and your character should be called into question because you love something that isn't causing any outside harm. engagement with art cannot make you a bad person! it's (if you've seen the good place) chidi and his almond milk. we're damning ourselves for miniscule actions and so trapped in the anxiety of that it causes far more important things to slip by. what matters is what we do, how we engage with others, how we take action in the world.

the fact that you're worried about this, which means you've been aware and empathetic during this time, proves you care and are not a "bad" person. i haven't been listening to her and it's not because i think that's giving me moral high ground (it isn't), it's because i am very sensitive and don't want any of that music emotionally tied to what's been going on because i do actually want to go back to it someday, it's too cherished and too intrinsically part of me not to, and at the moment distance itself is healing. i also don't believe her music being such an aspect of my heart says anything about my moral fiber, you know? if i suddenly wanted to listen to red tomorrow, i'd give myself permission to do so knowing it is no measurement of my intellect or my moral integrity, and we've got to stop acting like art can make you good or evil.

sorry this became a very long soap box essay! but i'm worried at how much of this specific idea, of someone so far removed from us making a bad choice reflecting on you and making you personally responsible or irredeemable for that, is being perpetuated. listening to an artist because they make you happy or bring you comfort is not having a measurable impact on human rights or global crises, and it just feels super unfair that we're burdening and judging each other with this idea that enjoyment or passion for something harmless makes you fundamentally bad. the world is hard enough. i promise you that it's okay to allow yourself joy.

I'm trying to think of a nice way to say this... maybe it's kinda harsh, but right now my biggest piece of advice would be to stop talking about the amount of views/attention your stuff gets altogether across socmed. You need to act confident about your art and stuff even if you don't actually feel it, because seeing you talking about "flopping" and stuff can be really off-putting to people... even to older fans of your work it can eventually get kinda too much. Treat your work like it's already popular, don't get so invested in views, or even if you are, don't show it. I know this sounds harsh, but it's the best advice I can give right now. (TBH, I don't even recommend answering this publicly bc it'll draw attention to the issue, so feel free to just delete it after you've read it.)

I will actually answer it because some of y'all here don't follow me on other platforms and are probably not aware of what has going on since a year about my content or my OC in particular.

First I'm so sorry for expressing my concerns and fears in public, I forgot I was an artist so people are just here for art and art.

But I'm also a human.

I always tried to be confident with my work but I just can't because in the end something always happen.

Since a year I deal with something in the Cookie Run fandom regarding my content and OC and it really took a huge toll on me and you will pardon me if I became anxious and paranoid from now.

I won't explain everything again but I did a doc not long ago so you can have a look 🤷

Easier said than done, it happens to everyone to feel like that, everyone have these days but again I'm sorry I forgot I was an artist and needed to post art here and nothing more.

I do my best to not vent too much but I'm sorry if sometimes I do it anyways.

Anyways I deleted the previous blog post and never will do it again.

Also sorry if I hurted people because of that post or my words, never been my intention.

it's been quite a while since i've done one of these so i figure i might as well get this out of the way (even tho i chose to do it like. lol. i just woke up from a nap, spare me)

name: evan

most active muse: the only muse i currently have for this blog- ekira. i'd honestly love to add some of my other muses to this blog such as hemlock since he's incredibly prevalent in ekira's story, but i need to curb my own laziness and finally give him a page lmao. i'm also incredibly out of practice with writing villains so it's been quite a while. i definitely need to freshen up there.

experience / how many years: i've been roleplaying on tumblr since i was about 13 so i have about 8 or so years of experience. i only started taking it seriously fairly recently into my early teen years, and i've been trying to do so ever since. i don't keep up to date with my rp experience nowadays (considering thinking back on old things i did as a tween makes me cringe heavily.)

when i rebooted ekira's blog back in 2020 or so is when i started taking writing up as less of a hobby and more of an artistic pursuit. i've always enjoyed it for as long as i can remember, and have loved making up stories with my characters since i was little. i consider rping to be an extension of that, and it's always great to improve my writing and characters along the way.

platforms you use: tumblr and discord, but mainly this hellsite

best experience: my best experience has been meeting other muns and interacting with characters from all aspects- whether it be canon muses or ocs, or even heavily canon-divergent muses, i love them all and interacting with each muse has been so fun. i know i would like to interact with more muns one on one more often, but i don't mind the mini interactions we do get with replying to each other's posts or seeing each other in our notifs. hello friend!

rp pet peeves: punctuation. this might be me considering i am VERY finicky on correct punctuation and spelling, so it's incredibly hard for me to jive with characters that don't seem to have as much care in their writing presentation. that's just a me thing though, and i absolutely don't fault anyone who falls into this category! it just itches my brain in a way i really do not like

this is also directed at myself, but i dislike happy-go-lucky characters with little to no substance. when i first started writing ekira that's the only thing they tended to embody. they were sweet and kind and friendly and incredibly fucking boring. they could get emotional, sure, and could get angry sometimes, but they were completely sanded down and unfun to right and otherwise just boring. i wasn't having fun writing them and i wasn't having fun in threads because i wrote them all so... samey.

it's why i decided to revamp ekira's blog the way i did, and in the same vein change up how i wrote them completely. i won't get too much into it (because tbh i already stated my problems with it and we'd be here ALL DAY if i continued) but i'm much happier writing them now than i ever was before the reboot. sometimes i still find myself falling into the same patterns as i did when i first wrote them, and it's something i personally am striving to improve on the more i write them.

ekira's still friendly and kind but can get frustrated, sad, angry, and isn't much of a blank slate as they were before. i'm incredibly proud of how far they've come since then, and hope to avoid any of the same stuff i ran into before in the past.

fluff, angst, or smut: fluff and angst are both good in moderation. i'd personally love to get into more angst threads as it's the ones i surprisingly get the least of (understandable) but i'd also like to get into more smut. i don't write it much as i'm still very much a beginner to it, but it's something i'd like to explore more of in the future; same with angst. there's a lot to ekira i'm grateful i get to explore with my friend @modestmuses and i'd certainly love more of it whether it be in those two categories.

plots or memes: i have a lot of fun doing both, but i definitely want to get better with doing things that are much more planned out. i'm not the best at thinking of in depth plots on the spot, but i know it's something i want to do more of. memes are also great (again, shouting out teddy for this one) because he just knows how to craft plots around memes so expertly that makes me crave EXACTLY what he's writing.

long or short replies: i tend to do medium replies depending on length, but recently i've been feeling more drawn to long replies. it helps me improve my writing and i love testing the waters with longer replies; it gives me more opprotunity to flesh out ekira's thoughts and actions much more than two paragraphs ever could.

best time to write: whenever i feel like it. i'm sporadic when i use tumblr so i get bursts of inspiration randomly. usually it comes best to me either mid afternoon or very late at night.

are you like your muse(s): yes and no. i'd go more in depth about it but all i can say is we both need to learn to love ourselves a bit more. also i want goat horns and a tail, it'd be sick as hell

To everything there is a season...

A while back I vented on Tumblr about feeling like I have the time for art, but not the energy.

Well, turns out I had undiagnosed hypothyroidism at the time. It's mild, but I've been on levothyroxine for about four weeks now, and the difference is already remarkable. I'm more awake in the mornings (do you constantly feel like a zombie until about 10? That's not an inevitable part of the a.m., turns out, even for someone in their 30s). I walk more - I walked for an hour yesterday just because I could! And my to-do lists have a much greater ratio of check marks to empty boxes.

My evenings are often filled with art now. I've been sewing, practicing watercolor, making jewelry. I even signed up for a couple of craft shows again - first time since 2019! I'm super nervous about it, but I missed working them so much. I can't wait to dip my toes into selling my work again.

But the one thing that hasn't really come back is... fanart drawing. And tbh, I'm not surprised. Because the reason I fell out of it has less to do with energy and more with motivation.

I'm burnt out of the fanart scene.

I've known this for a long time, on some level. The inspiration comes in waves - and right now we're stuck in the doldrums. Creating fanart feels less like an expression of joy for a certain media, and more like a chore done to appease others and not myself.

I've been dissatisfied with my art style for a long time. It isn't nearly as beautiful, elegant, or expressive as I want it to be. And the time I spent on most recent pieces hasn't felt worth it.

Of course, I get discouraged when my pieces don't "perform" well on social media too - and lately, engagement has been plummeting. Sometimes, the boost from a well-received piece gets me through the self-doubt I feel when it doesn't turn out like I wanted. That's part of what has kept me making for so long. Art has been something to share with others, something that gave me a purpose and made me feel like I was part of a community. I was contributing something valuable to others' lives and making this shitty world a bit less awful for them.

But honestly, that just isn't enough right now. And often a lack of engagement just makes me feel worse about what I've made. (I gotta admit, spending 30 hours on a piece to only get two comments, across all social media platforms? Not motivating. Not making me feel like that piece was worth so many hours or like it brought any additional value to the world. At least I learned some important artistic lessons from it.)

I spent most of my life learning to value myself solely based on the praise I receive from others. (If I ever get around to drawing that auto-bio mini-comic I scripted, "Selfish," this is in part what it's about.) I'm trying to undo this terrible lesson and teach myself that my art intrinsically has value, even if I'm the only one that sees it. But I need to create something I'm proud of for that. And I haven't felt proud of my drawing in a long while.

I still have a couple pieces in the queue to share, but overall, the field of fanart inspiration is going fallow. Perhaps resting for a while will allow it to grow back stronger next season.

(Nearly a decade ago, my mother-in-law made a gift for me: a scrapbook page turned into a dry-erase board. I use it as a to-do list for art projects. There's a Bible quote on it, the only one visible in my very atheist house. But it seems fitting here:

"To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven." -Ecclesiastes)

Hi anon! Sorry this took a bit longer. I started to reply and then tumblr ate it and then the rest of that day and yesterday were not effective-communication days LMAO bees in the head...

3. What ideas come from when you were little

So I used to get in trouble for drawing gay smooching and gnc folks pretty often between 10 and 15 years old and then I just stopped showing people what I was drawing LOL But that's definitely an 'idea' that came from when I was little.

(Does anyone else remember that scanner software where you could colour on an image you'd just scanned into your computer with your mouse? circa 2002ish?)

Though I believe as human beings we are capable of change, and making very radically different changes... this hasn't changed at all for me LOL Also I guess a fascination with angels but I'll blame that on the baptism.

5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself

It used to be most of it but I'm definitely weaning that down for illustrations that depict my own intellectual property. I like to share things that I like with other people so it's difficult.

However, I've had correspondences with Tumblr's @support that have been less than reassuring as far as their willingness and/or ability (it wasn't explained to me) to help independant artists protect their work from being profited off by thieving spamdexxing sites like tumgir and other tumblr knockoffs. They were readier to look at and remove my own work from this platform than shake their fist at sites that steal the content hereon. I fully intend on publishing original work sometime in this lifetime, so it's important to me to take steps that protect my rights as a creator.

Nobody else is gonna do that for me. I checked. And my own resources are just too slim for that either. Though in Canada my intellectual property rights are theoretically ineffable, in practice that's not the case.

If that means I have to hold my cards close to my vest until a time comes where I can publish my work, I'll do my best to do that.

That said that's all for my own IPs. When it comes to things I don't hold the rights to, those get thrown up, and will continue to be uploaded, about 95% of the time! :D I have more content for fics that haven't gone up than fanart haha TBH the other 5% there is just wips that I don't feel are ready to go up yet. But if I give up I usually upload them anyway LMAO

I think this one has been up before but it took a long time to get up because there's a lot of work that needs to be done here rofl And Aiura deserves that uwu

no hate but it's not like jake has a say in what stylists tell him to wear. none of the idols do, actually. moreover, that necklace was for a performance ( if i remeber correctly ? ) if not performance then it was for an event and in that case, outfits are customized to fit the theme and thus, idols barely have a choice to pick what they wear ( like you've heard abt idols being uncomfy with their outfits right ) so even if jake knew it's gna cause issue, he couldn't do anything. plus, he tried to apologize but the managers didn't let him. so if someone's to be blamed, it's the label and not the artist.

idk abt hee one either tbh i don't usually pay attention to past scandals of any artist nor do i look into it before standing some ( cuz imagine searching enha scandals before stanning them ) but if smth like that happened so i hope he apologizes

as for the sunoo one I'm sure it's a joke but i do hope they stop it. even if they're close friends, or even with family, fat-shaming is not right since it can have adverse effect on one's mindset. besides, some people simply weigh more despite being skinny / fit bcz of bone weight so like, there's no point brining sunoo up everytime they're talking abt weight. whatever it is, hope they talk it out and do what needs to be done

Okay my love for Dylan would take forever to explain and also I’m sure that’s not what you meant but I DO love him. Surprise surprise, I know.

A big part of my… dislike… of Taylor Swift is that she receives what is, in my opinion, totally unnearned praise and accolades for doing the most basic, bare minimum shit. Like all this stuff this last year. Is it awesome that she’s re-recording her work so she owns her own masters again? Yes. Every artist should have the right to own their own work. But she is literally just re-releasing songs that have been out for years. Yeah maybe there’s a new song or new “version” of a song, but the overall situation is a complete rerelease of old music. But somehow the world treats it like it’s some huge moment for music. It isn’t. These songs have been out for a decade. But, as with everything she does, it’s a god damn spectacle.

And tbh, her music is, in my opinion, the most basic, average music out there, and I say that as someone who used to love some of her songs. They can be fun to jam too, I mean I absolutely sang 22 when I turned 22. I am a millennial woman. But that doesn’t mean any of it is actually good. Musically nothing of hers that I’ve heard has been anything beyond a catchy tune. It never grabs me beyond a lyric or two getting stuck in my head after I’ve heard it 300 times. I’ve never heard a song by her and thought that, musically, it was anything special.

I also don’t find her to be a particularly good singer. Her recorded music is… fine, vocally, but that’s about it. Every time I’ve seen live performances I am unimpressed at best or at worst actively she sounds terrible. Her stage presence is always lacking, and I have never seen her do anything live and been impressed. Lyrically I’m not one to comment. I have a hard time with lyrics because as a HOH person I can’t always pick them out when I listen to music so it’s not something I pay attention too or care that much about. People say she’s a very talented lyricist, I don’t argue, that seems to be the consensus so I’m sure it’s true. But that’s not something that is important to me with music so it doesn’t really affect my opinion of her one way or another.

And honestly, her as a person rubs be the wrong way. She throws people who don’t deserve it under the bus all the time, and has been a perpetual victim for her entire career. She makes a huge deal out of tiny, insignificant shit, and her rabid fanbase treats anything that isnt outright praise of her like the end of the world. She was also openly viewed as the white woman darling of conservative right wing groups for a while and while i do not believe she aligns herself with those views, she spent way too long not saying anything about it.

And tbh, she has always felt completely disingenuous to me. She shifts her aesthetic and her vibe to fit whatever is popular at the time, and it never feels authentic or honest. Everything she does feels like a cash grab or a PR stunt. I’ve never once seen anything she’s done and felt like I was seeing the real her. The lack of genuine authenticity feels weird and I do not like it.

She is an extremely wealthy cishet white woman of mediocre talent who produces average, mediocre music and does the absolute performative bare minimum to speak on issues even with her enormous platform, and she consistently fuels her rabid fanbase to go after people she has been associated with. she constantly plays the victim and is the picture of white feminism. In all honesty, she is one of the most exhausting, oversaturated figures in pop culture and if I never had to hear about her again I’d be fine with that.

writing resources masterlist.

i have to admit. my first reason for doing this was to spite my brain because it wouldn’t write. so, instead, i made this.

so here. 160+ links. gathered from a million questionable google searches, and some more crawling through mobile chrome tabs for 11 hours. anyways, enjoy!

where to write!

some popular platforms:

google docs is my choice for writing. it’s free, auto saves, you can access your stuff on mobile, pc, tablet, etc., and great for multi person collabs + link sharing. but, you need internet to use it, and for big documents (upwards of 55k words) it takes a while to load on pc, and editing on mobile is damn near impossible.

scrivener is great too, and has the binder, which is great for organizing stuff. however, the mac version is way, way ahead of the pc in terms of updated versions. i mean, the pc version is still useable. and, it’s pretty expensive at $45 usd.

microsoft word is really popular, and used pretty much everywhere. there’s templates and you can save documents in different formats, and compatible with other microsoft office programs too. it’s also a bit complicated at the start, but tbh most software is gonna be like that. sort of in the same boat as scrivener, as in, it costs money. usually a subscription, but if you decide to buy it flat out, it’s even more pricy, but def worth it imo.

writing by hand is great too. some people can focus better that way, or, if you have a drawing tablet, you can write get the feeling of writing, and have it digitally too.

of course, you could just type into your notes app, or ao3, or a tumblr draft post, but let’s not-

focusing!

spotify, youtube premium, and tidal are all great for listening to music. all of them, except for the free version of spotify, have a subscription.

but maybe music isn’t your thing! here’s some more stuff:

ambient mixer has a ton of different ambience, and even lets you create your own.

noisli has playlists for different situations and has a built in timer and editor.

forest is an app/extension that grows a forest, for however long you manage to stay off of blacklisted sites, and dies when you revisit them. good for studying or a distraction-free writing experience (if you’ve got the restraint for it), but if you need resources on hand to write, this might not be good for you.

wanna make a moodboard? lit! here’s some ways to get your images.

jot down ideas when you get them!

don’t force yourself to write, or else you’ll burn out. and that’s never good.

have snacks and drinks handy if you’re going to be writing for an extended amount of time. even if you’re not, your brain needs fuel to run.

so, drinks like tea and water. snacks that aren’t oily/greasy or crumbly (i mean, do you really want that on your paper or keyboard?),

and on that note, for god’s sake use the bathroom frequently.

if you have difficulty concentrating, get something like a fidget cube or something to help. or take a nap.

if you don’t think your writing is good at first, just keep. writing. it’s a skill, and the more you write, the better you’ll get.

beta readers and outside opinions are very helpful. and please, never antagonize them first.

Jimin is the same way, he may not have the craziest loudest biggest solo fanbase (even tho pjms are getting there lmao), but he is recognizable by everyone who knows bts. Take their biggest markets : Korea, Japan and the US.

In SK, jimin is the most popular, followed by jungkook.

I ended up having no ideas for Jaehee :( Since it was already long, she’s skipping this particular headcanon. I hope you liked it, sending hugs!

Yoosung

He was really, really excited when he learnt you were the same age as his. His excitement decreased a little when he realized you weren’t enrolled at SKY, though.

He asked for your major, but you decided to keep it a secret. Since he didn’t want to share his either, you joked you would tell him about yours when he told you about his.

It was all fun and games until he told you what his major was.

You tried to hide for months, even going to the extent to say you had online classes so that’s why you were almost always home.

Until that night came.

You had decided to spend the quarantine together and Yoosung was having trouble with the whole online classes idea. You had just woken up and were still half-asleep when he came to the bedroom to ask for your help, since his classes started in ten minutes and he couldn’t get the platform to work.

“MC, I really need your help, please, get up,” he asked, shaking your shoulder gently. You groaned and rubbed your eyes.

“Help you how?”

“I don’t know how to use this platform, and maybe it’s the one you’re using too. Please, they will count me as absent if I’m late!”

“Hmm, how would I know how that works?” you mumbled, turning around and trying to get to sleep again.

“Because you… take online classes,” Yoosung reasoned. He pouted, his eyes going around the bedroom. “Right? You told me all your classes were online”.

The realization you had just messed up made you sit up on the bed, startled.

Yoosung was looking at you confused and you realized there was no way to explain what you had just said. You just looked at him, feeling incredibly small in your pajamas, his confused expression hurting you. You bit your lip, and opened your mouth to talk, but Yoosung cut you off.

“Can we… talk about this later? I’ll call Seven for help”

You nodded as he shut the door behind him. You let yourself fall on the bed again. You knew how much he hated secrets and you couldn’t believe you had done well for so long before letting him find out like this.

A couple of hours later, you went to the kitchen and found him there, drinking a can of soda as he looked at his phone. You took a deep breath and asked him to sit down on the couch with you so you could explain.

Once you told him the real reason behind your lie, his anger seemed to go away for a bit. You explained you were so proud of him for going to school, and that you didn’t want to share your experience with the education system, since you felt it had failed you and your dyslexia diagnose. SKY was a tough uni to get into, and knowing he studied there, you didn’t want him to know you were actually stupid.

Yoosung immediately hugged you tightly against his chest.

“You’re not stupid! Never say that again,” he said, pressing a kiss on your forehead. “It’s not like only smart people get into good unis. The exam is design in a way only with good memory pass it, intelligence has nothing to do with it,” he assured you. “I’m not really smart either. But you’re definitely not stupid. You had something that got in the way of your learning! Your school should have helped instead of letting you drop out”.

The next days, Yoosung took his time in getting educated about everything and anything that had to do with your diagnose. He found out all the ways he could help and tried his best to make your life a little bit easier. He always asked you what else did you need and what else he could do to fill that need.

And, honestly? That level of love and support was everything you needed

Zen

You were watching a series with him after a long day of work. The protagonist and their love interest went to a classic American prom and had the mandatory slow dance scene.

“I guess having something like prom would have been fun. The guys at my school went on a trip” Zen commented. You stayed in silence for a moment, not knowing what to say next. You just hummed and nodded, your eyes fixed on the screen. The episode ended and as the credits rolled, he turned to you again. “How was your prom? Who did you go with?” he asked with a teasing smile.

“Oh-- it was nice,” you answered. “Hey, I’m making some coffee for myself, you want anything?” you offered, getting up from the couch and heading to the kitchen.

“Hey! Why don’t you wanna tell me who did you go with?”

“It’s not important!”

“Oh, that means you did go with someone!” Zen reasoned, following you. “Babe, it’s okay, it’s not like you are still dating or seeing that guy anymore,” he said, his expression falling shortly after. “You’re not, right?”

“Of course not!” you huffed.

“Right, sorry, my mind went somewhere really dangerous,” Zen apologized. “So, why won’t you tell me about your prom? C’mon, I wanna know”

You sighed and turned around, finally facing him.

“I didn’t have one,” you muttered. “I didn’t finish high school”

Zen furrowed his eyebrows. “Oh,” he said. “Why… why didn’t you tell me? You know I also dropped out.”

“Yeah, but I didn’t do it for… you know, your reasons. You had to make a choice to further your career and you were also going through issues. I was just stupid”

“You’re not stupid, what are you talking about?”

“I… I had a lot of trouble at school. I have dyslexia and it made school so damn difficult, I was about to fail the year so I… dropped out. My drawings were somewhat good so I became a freelancer but yeah, my stupid brain didn’t let me have a prom”

“Okay, you have to stop calling yourself stupid. You’re an amazing artist! C’mon, don’t be so hard on yourself,” he asked, pulling you to his chest and hugging you.

Two weeks after your conversation, you got home after delivering a project and found Zen’s apartment filled with balloons, a small disco ball on a table, soft music playing one of your favourite songs.

Zen came out of the window wearing a light blue shirt and black pants, a slightly loose tie around his neck. You smiled when you saw him and left your purse near the door. As soon as you were in reaching distance, he twirled you around and then set his hand on the small of you back, his other hand taking yours. He started slow-dancing with you, his soft eyes fixed on you.

“Where did all this come from?” you asked with a grin, swaying your body to the music.

“I guess this way we both get to have a prom dance like the ones we see on TV,” he shrugged. “I even prepared punch, it’s in the kitchen.”

“Is it spiked?”

“You know me too well, babe,” he laughed, pressing a kiss on your forehead.

Jumin

Jumin had noticed you didn’t tell him stories about your school. He would tell you all about his time with V, but you never shared stories of your own. He didn’t mind it at first but was curious.

For a moment, he thought you might feel uncomfortable since he went to a fancy private school and you didn’t, but when time passed and you easily accommodated to his lifestyle he realized that wasn’t the case.

Jumin is a very observant man, so he also noticed how you had trouble reading. He had never mentioned it, figuring you hadn’t put on your contacts lenses.

That night when he left work and came to you, something couldn’t leave his mind. And of course, you noticed the tiny tell-tales he wasn’t as relaxed as he usually was when you two were together. You both were sitting on the sofa in silence when you couldn’t hold it any longer.

“What’s going on, love?”

“You know I hate bringing up work when we’re together, but…” Jumin sighed. “Assistant Kang wrote the speech I’m supposed to give at the gala I told you about and I just can’t see why I don’t really like it. I can’t even tell her to do it again because I don’t know why is it about it that I dislike,” he paused and took out a piece of paper from his briefcase. “Would you take a look at it? Maybe you can help me pin what’s wrong about it”.

You nodded and took the piece of paper from Jumin’s hands. He watched you as you scrunched your eyebrows, but kept your eyes focused on the paper.

“Do you need me to hand you your contacts?” he offered.

“I have them on,” you muttered, trying to concentrate.

“Maybe those aren’t working for you anymore? I could have the best optician see you tomorrow morning”

“No, I just-- I have-- Give me a minute to try and read this,” you tried to explain. Jumin looked at you confused. “I have dyslexia, so I have a little trouble reading long texts. But give me more time and I can finish this”

“I didn’t know,” Jumin said. He stayed in silence for a moment. “Did that make school difficult?”

He noticed the way your hands tensed. “I… I didn’t finish high school. Couldn’t keep up”.

And that was the moment everything clicked for Jumin.

He gave you the time you needed to finish reading and then listened to your comments about it. Knowing it was a delicate subject, he didn’t make further comment on it, but rather tried to be more affectionate than ever that night.

In the following days, he asked you if you wanted to get your high school diploma. He offered the help of a therapist that could help you and a tutor if you needed one. If you didn’t want to get a diploma, he still offered the help, as he knew it could still be beneficial for you.

He would ask a lot of questions about it on how he could make life easier for you. Do you prefer audio messages rather than texts? Because he would ask Saeyoung to change the RFA chat if needed.

He just wanted to know he would try and give you anything that could make you feel as happy as he was with you.

You try to help each other as much as you can! You do your best to help with his cluttering and remind him when he should get some rest. You also played a big part in changing his eating habits.

He also makes sure to add a feature for voice messages. Jaehee hates it because she is always working or listening to Zen’s recordings and it’s not practical. But Saeyoung uses it all the time and has upped his prank game sending the most annoying audios to everyone. But you know the only reason why he added it was to make your life a little bit easier.

He offers to pay for a therapist if you want to exercise your reading skills.

One late night, as you both had just finished watching a movie and were cuddling on the couch, you confessed you hadn’t been able to finish high school due to the dyslexia. You told him you hadn’t told him before because you were ashamed of it, and would appreciate if he didn’t tell anyone either. You didn’t want them to know you didn’t have a diploma.

“You know I can hack your school system and get you a diploma, right?” he asked. You chuckled and shook your head.

“Thank you, baby. There’s not need, though”

“If you want to try again, it’s okay,” he said, kissing your cheek. “And if you don’t, that’s okay too. Just whatever you decided to do with it… remember you won’t have to do it alone this time”.

This is why I hate kpop. These kind of fans. Is he wrong to say bts fans are 15 year olds? Not at all - it’s pretty much true and not offensive. You do not need, nor are you entitled to, an apology for such a normal comment. None of these 15 year olds would ever have paid attention to anything UN related had it not been for BTS - that is absolutely true.

Now, these kids go on to attack him, affect his show. Are BTS an unusual guest for the UN? Yeah totally. Especially since they made a speech about “how difficult the pandemic is for young people” and the obstacles they face. You know, young people loosing their jobs and studies, homes and health, and then the next day they reveal their new show where they are building a multi million dollar mega mansion that they will only use for two days.

Tone deaf. That discrepancy isn’t really BTSs fault, that issue is more managerial/company planning and I’m sure they didn’t have anything to do with it, but these obsessive and sick fans are embarrassing. If you want to support your “heroes/kings” so much, don’t do such embarrassing and immature things - you are associating them with the way you delusional my attach other people on such a public way. This is ridiculous and sick.

Not all fans, but because of BTSs popularity they have a larger mass of fans off all kinds - therefore more crazies and delulus. I’m sure they as artists aren’t proud of this behavior either but they can’t really say anything.

Edit: and tbh this makes me so angry because James has given artists like BTS such a good platform on his show and has always been so kind and respectful to them. His jokes were so lighthearted about this - and he is absolutely right. None of what he said was insulting - these fans are insane and embarrassing. I sometimes see a BTS video and enjoy it until I see the delusional comments below and I’m like “ok I’m done”. These fans must be so embarrassing for these young men, they do nothing but stigmatize them and kpop in general.

They are literally adding to the pejorative stereotypes relating to kpop. If you want your artists and the industry to be taken seriously and respected, don’t do such embarrassing and damaging things.

idk how many people were around/would know about this but in like 2016 or something (I have terrible sense of time it couldve been earlier or later) atlas came out with a song called letter to my freshman self which was really big in the anime community for edits but they didnt get a lot of attention for it for some reason?? anyways atlas has really good music, kinda lofi hiphop type stuff. would recommend the songs e[u].logy, they/them, valentine, back then, alarm and broken record :]

honorable mention: jazmin bean bc they makes me feel comfy in both my style and gender identity, also the music is just so fuckn banger. would recommend monster truck, slave 4 u, princess castle, yandere and worldwide torture

I'm assuming this means for streaming so the obvious answer is spotify. it's good for making playlists, has a fun way to see what ur friends are listening to, has most of the shit I like and is just overall way more convenient than what I used to do which was pirate thousands of songs I like

I've known about jack stauber and mitski for years now and listened to like a few of their songs but recently I've been trying to listen to them more and it's been cool! idk if this really counts as a "recent discovery" but there isnt many other new artists I've looked into as of late
