Sign the petition to stop octopus farming
A huge octopus farm is unfortunately set to open in the Canary Islands, murdering a million innocent kind smart creatures each year. There’s more info about the farm in the link above, but please take a minute to sign and share the petition! Demonstrations are also being organized for world octopus day (October 8th) all over, so reach out to contacts in the link to get involved!!

Stop the Octopus Farming Plan: Millions of Octopuses Will Die in Suffer
Stop the Octopus Farming Plan: Millions of Octopuses Will Die in Suffer
Octopuses are among the most intelligent creatures on Earth, they can use objects, solve complex tasks and feel emotions. Until now, wild octopuses that were hunted have been used as food. If there is a hell on earth, it is animal farms, where animals are kept in terrible conditions and their whole life is suffering. Now the first farm focused on the breeding of these intelligent creatures is to…

It's October 8th. 🐙 It's not hard to guess why this day was chosen to celebrate World Octopus Day, is it? These strange, alien-looking animals have some remarkable features – thousands of smart suckers, eight semi-autonomous arms, three beating hearts, copper-based blue blood, and eerily advanced intelligence. And they've been around for 300 million years – long before even the most ancient dinosaurs emerged.
Octopuses are incredibly resilient to external pressures. They have relatively short life spans of from several months to several years, which is probably one of the secrets to their success over the millennia. They can adapt to environmental changes across new generations very quickly. But that doesn't guarantee they'll thrive forever. Commercial fishing is taking more than 50,000 tons of Octopus out of the oceans every year.
So on this World Octopus Day, please take some time to contemplate these incredible eight-armed animals as they quietly jet-propel themselves through our planet's oceans, masquerading as other animals, and occasionally even using tools. Hopefully, World Octopus Day will help bring their plight to light and persuade more of us to support existing, and initiate new, efforts to help ensure the continued survival of this extraordinary creature. ☮️ Peace… Jamiese of Pixoplanet

Isn't It like. Objectively better to have an octopus farm than to wild catch octopi? At least if they're farmed they don't have the really awful stress of being caught (tbh wild caught sea food always makes me go eeeeeug because of just how stressful being caught and left out to suffocate in many cases.)
Like if they're farmed we can help keep the wild population from going too low. We can stop the stress of catching. Like yeah it sucks because octopi are really charismatic animals but farming animals is not inherently bad. Animals usually have to be treated at least decently to actually taste as delicious as we're used to lol
But I'm not a marine biologist so SHRUG
I literally cannot really say anything against it because I have a weakness for fried calamari it is literally the only seafood I will eat. I hate the rest.

Random Ramona stuff
I didn’t feel like drawing today, so here’s some badly drawned Ramona’s.
Has 6 arms instead of 5.
Has a zipper that reveals her other mouth.
They are giving thumbs up (not).
I should have mentioned that Jared Octopus can walk without his arms and is not paralyzed to the hips down.
This is a request.

Obligatory disclaimer that I don't think this is gospel or that the complaints aren't valid bc they are and I will probably continue to complain myself, this is just me spitting into the void a few minutes after waking up while I wait for my coffee to be done. But. I sometimes suspect that a lot of people who complain about the quality of cultural media these days, e.g. movies and books etc, need to just like. Learn how to find the good shit. Is the sequel-and-rebootification bad for film culture as a whole? Yes obviously. Is the tiktokization of a lot of pop music bad for music culture as a whole? Obviously yes. However. Have you considered watching/listening to/reading something that wasn't written in a year starting with a 20? Has it occurred to you that maybe ""booktok"" is not only whatever the first person you see when you search #booktok on the app says? And that there are many people talking about all kind of excellent new releases that show there are plenty of books with literary merit still being written? Published even?
Perfectly valid complaint to be angry about the way arts and media have devolved into Content but I also think some of you are just bad at finding new stuff so you keep reconsuming the same things over and over and talking about how nothing meaningful has ever been made in the last decade.

Today we bid a fond farewell to our dear Jabberwocky Millicent the Third. At the ripe age of old (for an octopus) he passed away peacefully in his sleep. He will be remembered for the hours of entertainment he provided, his ability to spray people in the face, for being reliable on tours, and for scaring children. Good night sweet prince.
