Some time ago i made a mane 6 for a MLP next gen AU called "the oddverse" (the first 3 characters were made last year or so and the other 3 were made just last month) idk if i'm going to be fleshing out this AU anytime soon though
Basically the whole gist of the AU was that discord got reformed long before twilight came to ponyville and cadence got with him instead of shining armor, eventually they had a kid named rarepair who ended up fucking up the universe and a bunch of characters who AREN'T from MLP's universe are now IN the universe, having weird kids with the ponies in the process. Canon ball is the protag of the AU and she's basically trying to figure out why the universe is like this
Characters and ships
Rarepair (intersex nonbinary, any pronouns) - empress cadence x discord
Set Lasers to Profit - Probably the worst slice of life episode the run had to offer. Just boring filler that I was uninterested in throughout. 4/10.
Villains Helping Villains - This one I originally thought would contribute to the overarching plot. Spoiler alert: it didn’t. If it did, it might have raised the rating, but it was still fun either way. 7/10.
Monumental Oddness - This episode was, no doubt, the best of the run! The plot was super creative, the morals were surprising (who knew we’d be learning about international places?), and not to mention that wedding (representation go brrrrr) 10/10.
Party Crashers - Another great plot with good lore, what with the crashers. Also the zoom knockoff thing was really creative, reminds me of online school nowadays. 9/10.
Why Did the Chicken Cross the Dimension? - This one was confusing, to say the least. Oswald doesn’t seem like one to take random off-work classes (unless character development happened?) and that climax implied stuff I really don’t want to get into, but it was okay for the most part. 5/10.
Off the Clock - For the last filler episode, not too shabby. The only thing I really didn’t like was the sudden introduction of magic. That just made the Oddverse more jumbled than it should be, so I’m docking points because of that. 6/10.
Sunny Sides Add Up - Okay, so the “secret of the season” has finally been revealed... with barely any buildup whatsoever. Why are a bunch of villains storming the place when Odd Off the Press implied it was only the Sticky Sisters? What does the Shadow’s notebook or whatever have to do with this?? And why oh why does Olando believe the gang for no reason??? This episode was supposed to answer questions but it only raises more?! The only good thing to come from this episode is Olando and Orla’s dynamic and the fact that the former isn’t a bland character. 4/10.
Old Odd, New Tricks - If it wasn’t for the trainwreck that was the next episode, this would be actually decent. It (almost) perfectly explains Olando’s motives for being a villain, along with having some pretty fun gags, so it was enjoyable when watched by itself. 7/10.
Odd Together Now (Part 1) - This. Freaking. Episode. Was. Trash. Not only does it diminish Olando’s potential arc to “boo hoo I can’t a good agent,” the setup had more plotholes than a broken down road yes i know terrible pun. The sundial is way too ambiguous, the exposition dump is plain awful, and the random monster for a “final boss” is just a cheap copout for all of this, even if it is admittedly adorable. 2/10.
Odd Together Now (Part 2) - The grand finale wasn’t too much of an improvement over the previous trainwreck, but I guess it was still an improvement. I was hoping so bad that Oprah would return, and she technically did, just in a super disappointing scene. (Oscar’s ridiculously pitchy voice will never fail to amuse me though, especially with that meme going around!)
The conclusion of the sundial arc was even more disappointing than Oprah’s return - if that’s even possible - and I also found a huge plothole in it that I’ll make another post about. As for the montage, it was a smooth end but not that satisfying. I actually didn’t cry (I only cried when I saw @/personinthepalace’s* tribute on YT, it was so amazing :’) Overall, a nice ending to the series, but there were a lot of things that could have been handled better. 6/10.
*mentions aren’t working for me right now, so I had to resort to putting a slash there :/
Hoho! By all means I’d love to hear about ur secret ot3 rarepair!!
aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thank you for encouraging my babbling,,,,, and my addiction to FormaGhiaPesci,,,,,,
also sorry this took me so long to get to
lets see, where should i start???
formaggio is literally the worst clothes thief, he can and will steal his boyfriends’ favorite shirts specifically because he knows its their favorite
pesci is the only one that formaggio’s cat actually likes
formaggio isnt a good cook but he constantly tries to make at least something edible for his boyfriends. he only set the kitchen on fire like once, so its not that bad
ghiaccio will hand over his coat immediately when he notices one of them is cold. he’ll complain about it and rant about them needing to bring their own but its not like he needs it with White Album
pesci can and will take advantage of any opportunity to pick up and carry his boyfriends around. bonus points if he gets the chance to hold both of them at once
ghiaccio is a gremlin and shoves his cold as fuck hands up his boyfriends’ shirts when they arent paying attention
date nights in often include watching terrible soap operas while yelling at the screen and throwing popcorn
melone is partially responsible for the three of them getting together, he likes to play match maker
in the nextgen/shipkid au me and my sister made they have four kids and i love all of them dearly i promise i will draw them soonish
I tried my hand at imitating some of my favorite artists’ styles. From easiest to hardest: @theclockworkkidart @oddverse @magma-cjay and @crackle-toons
Hardest things for me to draw: Ghiaccio’s curls = a Decathalon (I don’t draw curls like that normally, I mean I’ve tried in the past but it never looks right), Risotto’s eyes (I think I made them too big lol), Pesci’s hair (ITS VERY CUTE AAAAAHHHH, I tried to do it justice ;w;), and Prosciutto’s facial expression (I mean he looks tired all the time in their art, but in my hands he looks like he’s zoning out)
Easiest things to draw: Pesci’s body (very simple shapes and lines), Prosciutto (it’s the closest to my style), risotto’s hat (it’s got a lil’ triangle thingy at the top, which is very cute), and Ghiaccio’s face (I love drawing exaggerated expressions).
Hi I actually love when people ask me this! For a long time I went by DirtyConverse or any variation of that, well eventually I found it wasn’t available on Instagram so I just went oddverse (odd converse/odd universe) and it just stuck for the last 6 years!
yes to all,,,,,, i care them,,,,,,,, im sorry but you found my secret rarepair ot3, though i wont include any shipping related headcanons here because thats not the focus
excuse me as i get ramble-y with these for a hot minute, i know ive shared a few headcanons for these guys before so im gunna try not to repeat myself too much!
Ghiaccio
related to my headcanon that he can sew: he knows how to make quilts and may or may not secretly be working on one that when he finishes will be left on the HQ couch and then adamantly deny any questions about where the mystery quilt came from
everybody knows ghiaccio, you arent subtle.....
ironically, his teeth are cold sensitive
there’s a bakery he likes to visit even though he doesnt have much of a sweet tooth, he’s friends with the old man who runs it and is constantly accosted by the resident neapolitan mastiff for ear rubs
Pesci
was that kid where when your parents bring you into a walmart they just leave you in the fish aisle to stare at all the tanks and dream about eating the colored gravel
is learning to play the guitar
once grabbed a pigeon out of pure instinct and then panicked because he didnt know what to do afterwards (just.... just let go of the bird, pesci...... its a pigeon..... release it back to the wilds of the city streets)
one of the rare people who’ve seen prosciutto cry and lived to tell the tale keep the secret (it was after giving him a specific grateful dead album for his birthday. but that ties into a completely different headcanon regarding prosciutto’s backstory so i wont go in depth here because this post is already very long)
he likes those little gacha capsule machines full of stupid stuff and fake tattoos, its just a fun thing to throw a small amount of money away on when he needs a pick-me-up
Formaggio
ive said these before but ill say them again: he collects miniatures/figurines & his singing voice sounds similar to the lead for the band Lustra
fits way more shit in his tiny apartment than he should be able to. partially because of his stand and partially because hes just like, weirdly good at Real World Tetris (he always loads the dishwasher at hq because hes actually good at it unlike melone who loads it all wonky so stuff doesnt actually get clean or like gelato who just constantly leaves way too much space like theres still room in the machine gelato just move the fucking bowls for the love of god)
hes got a mundane superpower in his ability to always be able to recommend music to people that they end up liking. he listens to a lot of stuff himself even if its not always on the top of his own lists. he accidentally got prosciutto into Nirvana (he was trying to introduce illuso to them actually)
this headcanon originates from my sister but basically if one of us has a headcanon so does the other; she had the idea of nondysphoric trans man formaggio who just constantly walks around la squadra HQ in a pair of boxers and no shirt with his titties out and like,,,,,,,, as a nondysphoric trans man myself i approve ((@ truscum/transmeds, bite my ass))
