And they were Roommates (part 5)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A/N: MY OH MY. This tag list has grown so much it makes me so happy! Thanks to the anonymous ask, i indulged myself and added a little self care on reader being sick. It honestly comforted me.
Again you are all entirely welcome to send some heacanons, tropes or ideas to add to this.
and yes. You'll have the slowest burn ever.
YOU WANTED TO BE FLUSTERED? HERE YOU GO MWAHAHA
Warnings: some 18+ inuendos, swearing.
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_
You were exhausted. It had been an awfully long week. To your demise, sickness had entered your ranks. Sergeant McTavish was first. Whaling like a wounded soldier every time he felt a cough erupting. The drama queen had soon infected the others.
"We should have taken him out when I said to."
You had rolled your eyes at Ghost's remark.
Colonel Vargas was second. It had been slightly less complicated. He seemed to handle the flu much better. Gaz, he, had sung the song of his people with Soap, acting as if they've been shot. Though as per Price's comment, they complained far less when they had actually been shot.
Of course they had all nested in the apartment, Ghost highly irritated, asking them to go die somewhere else where they wouldn't bother him.
Being a medic had never been your dream. Yet you had to improvise yourself as a nurse for the week, giving medication and hot beverages to the wounded soldiers, or as you affectionately called them, pussies.
Price had followed, he had acted as if nothing was wrong, the obvious raspiness of his voice betraying him. He had kindly refused your offer to take care of him, but gave in at the warm soup for dinner. Your best patient so far.
Now to your worst patient. Ghost. He had entirely avoided any care package thrown his way, resulting in a lot of bickering to the amusement of the rest of the healing squad.
"Take your fucking meds." You said annoyed.
"Fucking make me." He dared.
You threw him your most annoyed glance.
"I will punch you." You threatened.
"Sure thing gremlin, reach my face first." He answered in the same tone.
You had kindly thrown every pillow in the living room at him, taking the one underneath soap's head, earning a 'hey!' from the agonizing man.
He had still accepted warm beverages, and after a very long fight and a threat to get drunk again, he had taken his meds.
It was finally over. Everyone was on the path of healing. Your duty was done.
Unfortunately for you, on this fine Sunday morning, you woke up with a raging headache and a sore throat.
You had been infected by the zombies. The game was over. You sighed. You had hoped very very strongly that you might escape the plague but the fight had been lost. You groaned as you sat up in bed. The warmth radiating from your body couldn't betray the obvious. You had a fever. You closed your eyes, cursing every baby man in the apartment because, OF COURSE, they were still camping around. Price was the only one who went back home for the night and came back in the morning to babysit his men.
You tried to stand, grabbing the black hoodie laying on your desk chair. You'd be fucking damned if you gave him back his hoodie. And he'd have to deal with you stealing the others too. Throwing it on, you tried to walk out of your room, the men complaining in the living room were being way too noisy for your pounding head. Finally appearing in the doorway the men turned to you.
"Oh god… you got sick." Price said.
The look of annoyance on your face couldn't betray it. You walked to the counter where Ghost was eyeing you carefully. You stared into his eyes.
"Johnny, make some tea." Ghost ordered, not dropping his gaze.
"Copy." Soap said jumping from the couch and jogging to the kitchen.
"Gaz go get some meds" he ordered again. "Copy" Gaz spoke out loud, walking to the front door. You felt your cheeks color.
"I'll go buy some snacks." Alejandro said, walking behind Gaz.
"You should get her to bed." Price said, walking next to soap probably to stop him from burning the kitchen down.
Ghost stood, extending his hand. You sighed before grabbing it, letting him walk you back to your room.
"Get in bed." He ordered.
"Like that? Not even a date first?" You teased dropping to your knees on the mattress.
"Stop taking your fantasies for reality." He snickered.
You let yourself slip under the covers again. He turned on the TV in your room, putting Netflix on.
"Ghost…" you asked, unsure of what you're going to say next.
He turned to you.
"Can… you stay…?" You asked.
"Can you give me back my hoodie?"
"No "
"Fuckin hell…"
So here you were. Cup of warm tea in hand, various snacks dropped around the bed, chocolate, candy, chips, sliced fruit and other things. Ghost laid next to you, slightly sitting against the headboard. Community was playing on the wide screen. It was peaceful. You, laying in bed, with your scary dog of a roommate next to you on the bed, his teammates half laying at the feet of the bed and around the room.
You sighed of content. Price had to run off to get some things done, but he promised to drop by in the evening again. Your eyelids felt heavy, the sickness getting you tired. A large hand came to slowly grab the half empty mug from your hands, putting it down on your night stand. You tried keeping track of the show on TV or the boys commenting or snickering at the jokes, but your eyes were fighting against your will.
It felt comfy. Warm. The man next to you seemed to radiate so much warmth. Your head had slightly fallen to the side, resting on his shoulder. You convinced yourself you'd close your eyes just for a minute. Just… a little… minute…
It felt… good… comfy… against his chest… his arm… around you… maybe… you could… sleep… for a bit…
"Sleep little bunny… we're here." He whispered, finally letting you completely give in to your exhaustion.
__
You groaned at the sound of someone repeatedly knocking and ringing at the front door. You peeked at the clock on your phone. 6:20 am. Who ? What?
It couldn't be Ghost. He did go for his morning runs, but… maybe he had forgotten his keys?
You got up, finally giving in. The knocking was non stop.
"I'm coming! God! Just a minute!"  You yelled.
The pijamas you were wearing didn't help the cold hair from making you shiver as you walked to the front door.
You opened it, trying to focus your brain on what was happening.
"Oh darling! I'm soooo sorry to wake you up but I really need you!"
You stared at the woman in front of you. Sergeant Melisa Gallegos stood there. You had met her in one of the previous missions, you had gotten friendly with her. She was kind and sweet. You sometimes get coffee and gossip with her. That's how you had gotten to know each other. You had learned that she was a single mother of a 3 years old little girl named Amy.
Which was sitting in her mother's arms, eyes fighting to stay open at the obvious early rise she had to go through.
"I need you to babysit."
"What?"
"I am SO sorry to ask you this. I have a big emergency at the base, and her babysitter is on vacation… " she explained.
"But… I… I haven't taken care of a kid in a long time!" You debated.
"You know Amy! She loves you, you did this before." She tried smiling at you.
You stood before her, looking at her shift from one foot to another, and at Amy just begging to fall asleep.
You sighed.
"Oh thank you thank you thank you!!" She said, handing the little girl into your arms.
"Wait!- I-" you tried.
Unfortunately she had already dropped the two little bags in front of the door and ran off.
You looked at the little girl in your arms, not bothered by the change of person. She did know you after all, you had already babysat for her a few times.
"Alright little monkey. Let's go back to bed. It's way too early." You said, pushing the bags inside with your feet and closing the front door.
When Amy had woken up again, it was around 9 am. You were fine by it as it was the normal time you'd wake up. You two had played a bit on the bed, tickling her, and creating stories with the little plushie she dragged around everywhere with her.
After a good laugh you had decided to get up, peeking at your phone. One notification.
"I'm bringing breakfast, just got to pass at the base first. Be there at 10."
Alright. Gave you time to get dressed with Amy and make her a hot chocolate, with the usual tea for you and him. You had walked into the living room, dropping her on the couch softly turning on some cartoons, leaving you to start on the beverages. You heard the front door unlock, Ghost walking in with the usual breakfast.
"I got-"
He glanced at the couch. Freezing on the spot. The staring match in between the toddler and the man in a skull balaclava was almost comical if you weren't so anxious of Amy's reaction at the masked man. You hadn't thought that she might be scared of Ghost.
"Awe you a supew hewo?" She asked, eyes shining with happiness.
Your heart melted on the spot. You smiled at Ghost who suddenly turned to you.
"How the fuck did a kid spawn here?" He asked, confusion clearly visible in his eyes.
You gasped ready to reprimand him from cursing in front of the child.
"Fwuck!"
You both turned to the toddler who had a wide smile on her face.
"No. No. Nonononoo… Amy sweety no.." you freaked out a bit. God Melisa was going to kill you.
You walked to the toddler kneeling in front of her.
"Darling, that's a bad word… only grown ups can use it… alright?" You tried to explain. Throwing a dark look at the man still standing at the doorstep.
"Ok!" She happily conceded.
You smiled.
"Perfect! Do you want to meet the big man?" You asked. She frantically nodded. You picked her up, walking around the couch to stand in front of Ghost who looked almost terrified.
"Amy, this is Lieutenant Riley. You can call him Ghost. He's my roommate… hum, my friend!" You explained.
You turned to ghost who's eyes shifted from the child to you.
"Ghost. This is Amy. She's my friend's kid, and I had to babysit at the last minute. She'll be spending the day with me."
He nodded.
"Why you wwear a mask?" She asked.
He frowned for a second.
"Hmm… it's for my job." He answered.
"Can I touwch it?" She asked, extending her little hand.
Ghost stared at it for a few seconds before looking back at you.
"Hum, sweety, maybe-" you started trying to defuse the situation.
To your shock he stopped closer, lowering his face, letting the little girl touch his mask. His eyes were on you, and yours were glued to his.
What was that funny feeling spreading through you? The burning sensation coursing through you? God..
The little girl giggled. Before letting her hand drop.
She then turned to you.
"Can I watch SpongewBob?" She asked.
You cleared your throat. Looking away embarrassed.
"Of course darling. We'll prepare breakfast."
You turned away, walking back to the couch and sitting her down, leaving her to watch 'SpongewBob' on tv.
You walked to the kitchen Ghost closely following you.
"I'm sorry. I wasn't expecting -" you began in a low voice.
"It's… ok. It was surprising." He whispered back..
God, why was he so close to you? Why were you so HOT?!
"I'm not used to kids." He admitted.
"It's alright. I'm the babysitter. You don't have to stay." You smiled.
"Didn't we have to go grocery shopping?" He reminded you.
You closed your eyes at the sudden realization.
"Oh… fu-.. I mean… yeah… I forgot." You said.
"We can take her. It'll be ok, right?" He asked.
"Why wouldn't it be?" You questioned back.
"I don't know. It's not too cold for her?" He asked.
God can he stop being so FUCKIN cute?! You bit your lip, keeping the wide smile from being too visible and failing miserably.
"She'll be fine."
Breakfast had been, calm. You were thankful that Amy was one of the calmest kid's you knew. She was well behaved, calm, and sweet. She was, unfortunately for Ghost, extremely curious. And again, to his dismay, she had taken a liking to him. She had been fascinated at the way he raised his mask to his nose to eat.
His lips were one of the things you were used to.
To SEE. USED TO SEE.
On another hand, Ghost had seemed very thoughtful during the morning.
He had eclipsed himself for half an hour while you battled with the toddler to get both of you ready to go grocery shopping. She kept questioning everything, sometimes wondering about things that never ever crossed your mind. You found it funny. It was incredibly adorable.
Zipping her little coat, making sure she had her scarf, you received a text from Ghost.
"I'm here."
You walked out of the door, the little girl holding your hand as you were walking down. You made sure to walk down the stairs at her pace, eyes never leaving her, too scared she might fall even though her tiny hand was secured in yours.
You pushed the building's door to the underground parking lot where you immediately saw Ghost, arms crossed over his chest, all dressed in black leaning against his black jeep. Amy squealed as she saw him. Jumping.
You smiled. You walked to him.
"Where did you go?" You asked.
"We were missing something." He said.
"Really? What?" You inquired, confused.
He moved, opening the back door. You blinked. A FUCKING CAR SEAT. You closed your eyes, sighing.
"Thank you… it had completely escaped my mind…" you apologized.
Amy had let go of your hand, skipping her way to Ghost, hands up in the air for him to pick her up and sit her in the back.
Ghost froze. You were quick to make a move but you stopped as he slowly bent forward. You stood there in shock, watching him pick up the child. She was so small in his arms.
Fuck… was this awakening something in you?
He sat her very softly in the car seat, being extremely careful to make sure she wouldn't hit her head. He moved as if Amy was a little porcelain doll. You saw him fidget to buckle her up, again surprising you. The little 'click' was heard, and he pulled a little on the belts, making sure it was safe. Amy was holding her little plushie babbling about whatever new thing she had learned this morning to the soft thing.
Ghost looked back at you, leaning on his arm  against the car. As if taking your opinion on his handy work. You bit your lip. And his eyes fell on the movement, forearms flexing.
"Thanks…" you whispered.
"You're welcome." He answered voice deeper than usual. You finally moved, opening the passenger door, he closed the back door making sure Amy didn't have her leg or arm in the way. You sat in the front, Ghost closing your door behind you.
You took a deep breath. Amy seemed to be enjoying herself, not at all weary of her new environment. Ghost took place in the driver's seat, buckling his seatbelt as well. You watched his movements as turned on the vehicle.
"Ghost…" you called.
He looked at you.
"Did you… buy a car seat?" You asked.
"Yes." Was all he said, attention turning back to his task.
You pushed the Shopping cart where Amy had taken place. Ghost followed you as you tried to remember what you needed. The grocery store on the base was a good thing. It avoided having civilians staring at Ghost. At least here, everyone knew who he was. The fact he was with a woman and a child though, that, caused many to stare.
The fact that Amy was a little blond, curly haired girl, that was incredibly close in color to Ghost's eyelashes also made everyone stare.
You tried to focus on the task at hand, Amy and Ghost not caring at all about the rest of the people in the store.
She kept pointing at things, asking Ghost to explain what It was. It made you smile. The way he was willingly letting himself be questioned by the little girl.
"Oh, i forgot…" you mentally cursed yourself.
Ghost looked at you.
"Can.. you stay with her for a few minutes? I'm sorry… I forgot to grab something." You asked with a sorry look..he nodded.
You smiled at him before turning around and walking out of the aisle, hurrying up.  As you scanned the new aisle your phone rang. Rummaging through your pocket you grabbed it. It was Amy's mother.
" Hey! How's everything going?" She asked.
"Everything's fine. Your daughter met Liteutenant Ghost Riley." You teased.
"...what?" She asked.
"Yeah, he's my roommate." You spoke, still searching for the damn thing.
"... And… is everything going ok?" She asked with a little worry in her voice.
"Everything is fine…" you sighed " she likes him more than me, and he acts as if she's made of glass." You said.
"Oh! Thank god! I was worried she might be a bit much for him." She chuckled.
"Well he's not used to it, but he's extremely patient with her." You reassured.
"Alright, I might pick her up late… I'm really sorry…"
"It's ok. You owe me though." You teased.
"Ok, fair." She laughed.
You bid your goodbyes, her having to rush back to work, and you worrying about leaving Ghost and Amy alone too long.
You walked back to the aisle you had left him, finding them nowhere. You frowned. You walked around the aisle, suddenly feeling the anxiety coursing through you. What happened? Why aren't they here? You stopped as you turned left into the biscuits section.
You let out a sigh of relief.
"Ghost!" You walked to him. He turned to you not bothered at all by the situation.
"I've been looking for-"
You interrupted yourself as you looked at Amy.
"Ghost. Why does she have a doll?" You asked.
"She asked for it." He replied.
You looked at the cart.
"She also asked for the plush, the Legos and the ponies?" You glared at him.
"Yes." He replied again, as if the situation was completely fine.
"Ghost. You can't buy her that."
"Yes I can."
"No! You can't give her everything she asks for!"
"Yes I can. She asked nicely. She said please." He explained turning back to lean on the cart.
"That's not an excuse!" You scolded.
"It's my money." He concluded.
Amy smiled widely, hugging the box the doll was in.
You stood there mouth slightly open, shocked from the situation.
She had him wrapped around her finger! You rolled your eyes. This was a fight you wouldn't win. You headed for the cashier's, ready to ring up everything. Amy was thrilled with her new toys. Walking back to the car, you dropped the groceries in the trunk, Amy already had her doll out of the box as she had 'asked nicely', and ghost had ripped the box apart to give it to her.
He had let you buckle her up this time. You headed back home. Stopping at MacDonalds on the way home because, once again, 'she had asked nicely'.
"Stop spoiling her Ghost!"
"No."
Ghost parked in the parking lot. You both got out of the car. You opened the back door, looking at the little girl. She had fallen asleep on the way home. She hadn't liked waking up early, and it was almost time for her nap. You stood there for a little while watching her sleep. She was so cute. You didn't want to wake her up.
The breath on your neck made your hair stand, as he whispered in your ear.
"Do you want me to pick her up…"
You held your breath. He was in your back, cornering you, arms on each side, leaning down.
You slowly looked to your left, planting your eyes into his. Time froze. You were so close. You could feel his breath though his balaclava on your lips. He frowned. Eyes shifting to said lips.
"You're always biting your lip…" he noted in a low voice.
Were you? You didn't even realize you were doing it now.
"Does it bother you?" You hushed back.
"It makes them… red." He stated awkwardly.
"Does it?" You asked. Of course it did. You could see his brows furrowing.
"Makes me…want-" he started, almost growling.
You were hanging on to his every word. Heat pouling dangerously deep in your stomach.
"Why does it make whem red?" The little voice made you both separate instantly. Ghost taking a step back.
You cleared your throat, looking at Amy.
"Hum… well… hum… it's… complicated. I'll explain another time, ok?" You tried, clearly blushing.
"Ok!" She smiled.
God. Keeping children was hard.
The day had gone by pretty fast. You ate lunch, Amy napped leaving you and Ghost time to work a bit. You two were acting as if nothing happened.  On your part at least you were obviously embarrassed.
After she had woken up, she insisted on playing with her new Legos. You had moved the coffee table to the side so you could play on the carpet with her. Ghost was sitting on the couch, legs spread, reading a report, occasionally looking at you playing with Amy. Once in a while Amy turned to him proudly showing off her constructions.
Each time he praised her with a little, 'that's really nice, you did good', it made your heart flutter.
He was so kind, so gentle with her.
You could feel his gaze on you when you weren't looking. It burnt through you.
After a while you had dinner, and put on a Disney movie for her. You sat on the couch with her on your lap cuddling her new teddy and her old plushie. She rested against you. Ghost joined after finishing his report.
"Move." He asked.
You frowned. He sat next to you, making you lean on him. You blushed.
"Are you really gonna watch Encanto?" You teased.
"You'd rather I go away?" He asked, looking down at you intensely.
You didn't say anything at all.
The more the movie played the more Amy seemed to close her eyes. It was getting pretty late. Around half of the movie she was sound asleep in your arms. You smiled down at her, brushing a little strand of blond hair away from her face.
"Fuck…"
You looked at Ghost meeting his gaze.
"Is everything alright?" You whispered.
He stayed silent.
"Ghost..?" You asked frowning.
"What are you doing?" He asked.
"What.. Do you mean?" You whispered.
"To me…" he finished furrowing his brows in confusion.
You sucked in a breath, but before you could say anything, a knock on the door made you separate. It took a little moment for him to gather himself and get up to open the door. You took a deep breath, trying to calm your racing heart. A few seconds later, Melisa walked in.
"Hey!" She whispered to you, walking to where you sat.
"Hi, how was work? " You hushed back.
"Hell… but we made it… I'm so sorry to have dropped her off like that…" she said, the sincerest sorry look on her face.
"It's alright Melisa. I understand, and I don't mind helping you out. Amy is adorable." You reassured.
She smiled at you, feeling slightly emotional by the look on her face. With the utmost care, you gave her the sleeping toddler.
"I'll help you with the bags." You told her, getting up the couch with her. Looking around at the toys scattered around and then to the new plush she furrowed her brows in confusion.
"Did you buy her all of this?" She asked.
"No. He did." You said pointing at the man leaning behind the kitchen counter.
It was absolutely ridiculous to say that the man, in all black, with a mask made of a human skull, with the most terrifying glance you could fall on, had bought so many toys for a toddler after she had simply said 'please'.
You both walked to the doorstep as she stopped in front of Ghost.
"I'm sorry lieutenant.. I hope she didn't make a fuss. I'm very thankful to you both for keeping her… and for the toys." She said.
"No problem. She's a nice kid." He said.
You smiled at him, he noticed. You grabbed the two little bags and followed Melisa out, walking down the stairs to her car.
"He's pretty nice actually, for a cold blooded killer he is reputed for." She remarked.
"He's still a terrifying man, who sticks up to his reputation by the reports of missions I've seen. He's just… calmer, here." You said.
She had put Amy into her car seat.
"He bought her… a car seat." You said. It sounded more like a thought coming out of your mouth, as if for yourself, it was still something your brain was trying to process.
"He did? Just… for today?" She asked.
"Yeah. We went to the store, and I guess he was worried for her safety, and immediately went out and bought her the car seat." You explained.
Now you remembered how he seemed deep in thoughts during breakfast. He had been thinking about it.
"Well. He seems like a good man." She said softly, closing the back door.
"Yeah.. you're right." You smiled at her. "I trust that this stays in between us." You asked.
"Don't worry. I wouldn't say anything that involves my daughter to anyone. This situation stays knowledge for us only." She assured. You knew that she was extremely worried to have her child on the line. Unfortunately, it's part of the job to earn enemies, and everyone wants to keep their loved one away from it.
Melisa thanked you again as you handed her the bags. You offered to take care of Amy if she ever needed again. After hugging her goodbye, you headed back up to the apartment.
Locking the front door behind you, you walked into the living room where you saw Ghost, holding what now seemed to be his favorite mug, standing behind the counter.
"You look tired. You should head to sleep." He remarked.
He was right. You were tired. Taking care of a child wasn't easy, you were glad for his help. You walked up to him, you saw him stiffen.
"Thank you Ghost. Your help was really appreciated. And I had an amazing day. Amy adored it. So… again, thank you Gh-"
"Simon." He interrupted.
You blinked.
"Wh-what..?" You whispered.
He stepped closer, barely inches away.
"My name. It's Simon." He clarified.
Your mouth opened. Then shut itself again.
Simon.
"(Y/N)." You blurted out.
His eyes flashed something unknown.
"(Y/N).." he whispered, sending a delightful shiver down your spine. Your name, on his lips. Fuck…
"Simon…" you whispered too.
You felt his fingertips rush to your hip, hovering there, too close yet so far. After a second he lowered his hand back to his body.
"You're welcome. It was a good day." He added.
You nodded, smiling at him, trying to hide the obvious way your heart was racing. Swallowing the lump in your throat, you watched him step back, gaining some composure.
"Goodnight (Y/N)." He said.
"Goodnight Simon."

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: Sung Hanbin x fem!reader
Genre: Fluff, based off 5sos’ Best Friend.
Summary: A couple scenarios that made Hanbin realize that he slowly fell for his best friend.
Warning: None
Note: Ahh, I was so excited to write this. I’ve loved this song for yearssss. 🫶🏼
Tumblr media
Hanbin always knew he felt something for you, even if he wasn’t sure what that feeling was.
You basically grew up together. You knew each other since elementary school but funnily enough didn’t like the other, like at all.
Hanbin was a very outgoing guy, he knew everyone and had tons of friends. On the other hand, you were a little bit more reserved, you had a small but tight group of friends and preferred to listen rather than to talk.
You were so different yet similar in other ways.
You didn’t like how loud he could get or that smirk he gave you every time he knew he did something to annoy you.
And he didn’t like that you were a nerd that only cared about school (false, you only cared about having good grades but didn’t live for school) and that you rarerly talked.
And that went on for years. Until your best friend, Minjun, started dating Hanbin’s friend, Matthew, in your freshman year of high school. Forcing your two groups to spend a lot of time together.
At first you both dreaded it, but after some time you started warming up to each other. You discovered that you shared a love for music and you also liked the same movie genre.
After that you started hanging out more without your other friends and texting a lot, too. You started calling each other “bestie” and “best friend”.
It was a cute friendship and even your friends teased you that you would eventually end up together.
1. Even every time that you got the flu
I'm not scared at all to get close to you.
I don't run away when your face says achoo.
But I run to get you a tissue.
Hanbin remembers vividly the first time you got sick with the flu. You were supposed to hang out at the fair the next day but called him to cancel.
“I’m sorry Bin, we’ll have to reschedule.” You talked on the phone.
“Why? Are you okay?” He asked in a concerned tone.
“Yeah, don’t worry. I just got the flu and I feel awful.”
“Oh, Bestie.” He answered. “Do you want me to get you anything?”
“No, no. It’s okay, Binnie.” You waved your hand even though he couldn’t see you. “I’ll just sleep and order take out.”
“Ooor, I could cook you something warm and take care of you.”
“Nooo, Bestie. You don’t have to do that.” You spoke. “I don’t want you to get sick, too.”
“Nonsense. Nothing’s gonna happen to me. I have a strong inmune system.” He answered making you laugh and cough a little afterwards. “Just accept, Y/nnie. I promise I won’t run away when you sneeze, I’ll run to get you a tissue.”
After you contemplated his offer, you accepted.
You had such a sweet best friend.
“Okaaay.”
Hanbin was genuinely happy to take care of you. “I’ll pass by the convenience store to get you snacks and medicine.”
“Okay, Bin. I’ll see you soon.”
“Yeah, I won’t be long.”
“Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
2. Remember when your parents went out of town?
They were, dumb enough to leave us with the house
We had 100 people naked on the sofa
Dancing 'til the cops said: Game over
Turned out it was Cheri's dad
So we did shots while we rode in the back
He even let us all use the siren
It was the best night, I'm not lying
Since your parents went on a week long trip to Las Vegas, they left you home alone. Letting you invite some of your friends so you wouldn’t be on your own.
So, Hanbin convinced you to throw a party on Friday and invite your friends and a plus one. Which wasn’t a very good idea. Word spread throughout campus and now you had a ton more people than what you were expecting.
You gave the black haired a look. “This is all your fault.”
“Mine? Why?” He raised an eyebrow.
“Yes, yours. Because you seem to forget how popular you are.”
“Oh.” He gave you a sheepish look. “Okay, maybe I do.”
“Lighten up, Sweetheart. We’ll kick them out if we need to.” Taerae, your boyfriend at the time, spoke as he threw his arm around your shoulders.
“You? But you’re scrawny, love.” You teased him.
“I’m stronger than you think.” He started ticking you.
“Okay, okay! You are.” You gave him a hug and he kissed you on the forehead.
“Let’s go dance, babe.” He took your hand and dragged you to the dance floor, which was really your living room.
Hanbin was left on the sidelines with some of your other friends, just watching you as you danced with the brown haired.
“Just tell her how you feel.” Zhang Hao talked as he saw the way Hanbin was looking at you.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
The older gave him a look. “We all know you’re in love with Y/n and have for years.”
“I’m not in love with her, she’s my best friend.” Hanbin spoke defensively.
“Don’t even try to deny it. We’ve all seen the way you look at her, like right now.”
As he was processing what his best friend said, a police siren could be heard on the distance.
“POLICE! EVERYONE OUT, NOW!” Someone you couldn’t recognize shouted.
Everyone started screaming and running as fast as they could, and exited the house.
When the cops arrived, your group of friends and your boyfriend, were the only ones left.
So, turns out that they received a noise complaint from one of your neighbors, which wasn’t surprising cause that old woman hated you.
Anyway, you weren’t in trouble because the police officer was one of your closest friend’s dad, Cheri.
You all ended up doing shots in the back and using the siren.
It was a pretty amazing night.
After that, all of your friends went home.
Hanbin laid on his bed and stared at the ceiling, still thinking about what Hao had told him.
Maybe he liked you more than a friend?
He couldn’t deny that he found you very pretty and adored your personality. You were so special to him.
After overthinking for what felt for hours, that night, he realized that he liked his best friend, more than a friend.
Would he ever confess to you? Maybe.
He couldn’t do it right now, because you had a boyfriend and he respected your relationship. That and he also wasn’t sure if you felt the same.
For now, he’s content to have you as his best friend, so telling you about his feelings would be a problem for future Hanbin.

Biggering Animation (Behind The Scenes / Work In Progress Log #9)
Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a great Christmas / Thneedmas I've been putting my full focus on Biggering for these past few weeks and have made somewhat decent progress (maybe) I won't lie though, it has been putting a toll on me, but I absolutely refuse to give up or take breaks longer than 3 days (I literally start to get anxious if I haven't been working on it for that long), I had been advised by friends and the community to not push myself too hard and to take regular breaks to not experience burnouts, I will say, I am very stubborn.
Here's some updates!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I decided to re-storyboard one of the shots for Biggering My boyfriend said I should replace the limousine with the Mazda car that was featured in one of the marketing advertisements for the movie which is HILARIOUS considering this particular Mazda model did so poorly with being an 'environmentally friendly' car ofc I will have to change the Mazda logo cuz uhh I don't feel like getting sued (is that even possible for a fan animation idk?) In terms of the Biggering release date, I have decided to maybe potentially push the date to June 23rd 2024 I know it seems so far away, but considering animation is such a time-consuming process and I will be juggling my final year of university at the same time (I'll be returning to college in late February), I would need all the time and help I can get, and it will all be worth it in the end
Tumblr media
I should also mention here who my background artists are! @shakooo (background artist for hallway shot) @suemooon (background artist for elevator shot) @kilonovaaaa @miru667 @evasty and Uniitoonz! Thank you all so much for applying to help with this project, it means a lot to me <3 extra stuffs: I don't really post about my personal life here but I thought it would be cool to share what I've been up to this Christmas
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh lord what YEAR is this? I bought the book and found a hat that looks identical to his :3 My bf bought me the green sweater shirt for Christmas :D (he is not helping with curing my green flu)

how about jack getting chills (maybe as a vaccine side effect topical) then he gets bundled in blankets and taken to the vet i mean vet i mean vet i meanv- human doctor
Tumblr media
Uiscefhuaraithe- Bundled up in blankets: Jack Griffin
Fandom- AP Bio
Ship- Jack Griffin/Lynette Hofstadter
Jack gets chills after a vaccine. That's it.
Title from To Someone from a Warm Climate by Hozier
Read here or below!
Jack gets the stupid goddamn flu shot, because everyone at Whitlock gets the stupid goddamn flu shot (except for Devin, whose Mom apparently believes that they’re a manipulation tactic from the government and so will not allow him to receive any). He sits in the stupid goddamn chair in the gym, takes off his stupid goddamn cardigan and lets them stab him in his stupid goddamn arm before he thanks them for it and saunters off back to class.
He’s greeted by a whole bunch of students all rubbing their arms (Devin excluded, of course) and complaining about how rough the nurse was with them- Jack fortunately doesn’t have that issue at least. His was a strange but oddly gentle man from New York who offered him a ‘sucker’ afterwards and spent half the time Jack was sat there showing him pictures of his dogs from back home.
A few of the class are sat flicking through leaflets, their eyes growing with concern the more that they read.
“Woah, this says you can get a fever after having the shot?? That doesn’t make any sense!” Colin announces, brow crinkling with concern. “I thought the whole point of getting the vaccine was to make sure you don’t get sick?”
Sarika answers him before Jack has to. “The side effects are mild compared to the actual flu, Colin. It’s way better to maybe have the chills for a little while than to get super sick.”
“Still... I didn’t sign up for this.”
As he rests his chin against his folded arms atop his desk, Jack can’t help but agree. He hates getting shots, but it’s something that he has to do- especially after his last bout of the flu nearly took him to the hospital. If that event is anything to go by, though, then the next few days are going to be pretty unpleasant. His body does not react well to anything it perceives as a threat, apparently.
The end of the school day rolls around quickly, and soon he’s driving Lynette back to his place for the night- a tradition they’ve grown accustomed to in recent months.
“You read the leaflet?” Lynette asks him, thumbing through it as they pull up to a stoplight.
Jack glances over, shakes his head dismissively. “Nah. No point. I know I’m gonna experience all that stuff anyway, there’s no point making myself worked up about it.”
His girlfriend quirks a brow. “You’re gonna experience all the side effects?”
He nods, tapping a rhythm on the wheel. “Trust me, Lyns, I always get the vaccine side effects. It sucks but that’s life.”
“So let me get this straight- you think you’re going to experience... here, let me see: soreness,-“
“Yep”
“redness,-“
“You betcha”
“headache,-”
“Oh, definitely”
“fever,-“
“100%”
“nausea,-“
“Mhm!”
“muscle aches,-“
“Yep”
“and fatigue?”
“Absolutely.”
Lynette snorts. “Jack, I think it’s physically impossible for somebody to have all of those symptoms after a vaccine.”
Jack shrugs. “Watch me.”
When Lynette wakes up the next morning, the first thing she does is roll over like always, expecting to find empty space on the other side of the bed where Jack departed in favour of showering early. Instead, she’s greeted with the solid warmth of her boyfriend, who is decidedly not in the shower. In fact, he isn’t even awake yet.
He’s facing her, dead asleep, cheeks unusually flushed, and a stray curl hangs over his equally reddened forehead like the curving tail of a cat. With every even breath, he shudders a little.
Lynette shuffles closer and gently presses the back of her hand to his cheek just to affirm what she already knows. He’s got a fever. Damn. His prediction was right.
“Jack... sweetheart, wake up...”
She moves her hand so her thumb strokes repetitively across his jaw in a vain attempt to rouse him, and when this is met with no more than a defiant little grumble, she leans in to press a kiss to the bridge of his nose- it twitches almost bunny-like, and at last he wearily opens his eyes with a deep sigh.
“H-hmn?”
Lynette furrows her brow sympathetically. “You okay?”
He hums noncommittally and buries his nose back into the softness of the pillow, shuddering again. His eyes flutter closed just as quickly as they opened. “Mm.... cold.”
“I don’t think you’re cold, sweetheart.” She explains. “You’re actually running quite hot, even if you feel cold.”
“Mmm....”
He’s gone again in another second, falling asleep faster than she’s ever seen him before. While he continues to shiver under the blankets, Lynette takes the opportunity to slip free of the bed and fetch some things to help.
As it turns out, Jack is right about more than just the fever. Along with flushed cheeks and forehead, the area around the shot site is red too, and according to him, everything aches. Well, according to him when she actually manages to pry any information out of him, that is. Considering how dramatic he is about the prospect of getting sick, he’s always surprisingly closed-off when said sickness hits for real. Like a clammy clam-shell.
His fever thankfully fades without much intervention aside from a Tylenol, but the chills? God, the chills are apparently here to stay.
On the third day post-vaccine, they reach a new high, and no matter how many blankets she piles onto his lap, he just can’t seem to get warm. He shivers miserably underneath layer after layer, blankly staring at the TV and looking so out of it it’s almost concerning. And a little adorable, thanks to the fact that he’s cocooned himself like a sick little caterpillar.
“Still feeling cold?” she asks uselessly.
He nods, eyelids drooping as if the motion nearly sends him to sleep. “F-freezing.”
“Alright.” She stands up, and offers him her hand. “C’mon, Harvard. We’re going to the Doctors. Need to get you some heavy duty stuff to make you feel better, hm?”
Jack says nothing but takes her hand anyway, the clearest indication that he really isn’t himself. He follows her lead all the way out to the car.
**
When she arrives back home, it’s with some tablets and an exhausted Jack that she wanders through the door. They don’t bother heading all the way upstairs- they barely make it to the couch before Jack slumps down in it and pulls all the blankets they left there over his shivering form. He’s about ready to close his eyes and conk out, but Lynette manages to keep him awake just a few minutes longer so he can take the medication.
“Here.” She says, her own voice worn from the exhaustion of being up for what feels like days. “Take this, hon, or you won’t feel any better.”
His trembling hand retrieves the pill, and throws it haphazardly down his throat. He dry swallows it, like a goddamn weirdo, and promptly curls back into his blanket pile to sleep.
Lynette, meanwhile, yawns, and settles herself on the other couch. There’s only one blanket draped across it but she isn’t a shivering wreck like her boyfriend so it doesn’t matter. As she slips beneath it, she raises the bottle of medication to her eyes and squints to get a look at the writing on the back.
WARNING: Causes drowsiness. Do not operate heavy machinery while taking this medication.
She grins, placing it back down on the coffee table and hazarding a wayward glance at Jack. Is he.... drooling? Jesus Christ.
“Jack. Jack. Harvard. Jack.”
Nothing. Not even a twitch.
She chuckles slightly and wriggles beneath the blanket.
When she wakes up, he’ll definitely still be right where he is, and she is going to take so many pictures for blackmail purposes. Mary, Stef, and Michelle are going to lose their minds.

First little blurb of two separate but related (via jodie) thoughts.
First
Thinking about the fact that Jodie and Zhao technically existed as two separate people in the Close timeline and that after the trial they shared a body.
That trial made the whole timeline and everything confusing.
And second
One of my favorite little fun facts about Jodie.
Is that Jodie is canonically the cop that found Morgan on the highway, when she crashed in the Close timeline (Timeline pre trial)
That second one fucks me up so hard. Like, he found Morgan in the Close Timeline yet is married and has a kid with her in the second one? Ahhhhh /pos
Also because of you (/pos) I've been thinking about Jodie and Ron romantically again.
hhhhh jodie you make me so so so insane. i didnt actually know that jodie and zhao dae were different entities originally! i guess that makes sense, thinking about it now, but i thought jodie just gonna go. beamed into existence i guess HFJGHJKFDHJK thats so crazy to think about... being like, retroactively bonded to a demon... GOD. and YES!!! YES. i love that fact! it makes me FOAM AT THE MOUTH... pacing around my room frantically because THE MERGING OF TWO TIMELINES IS SOOO SO INTERESTING. IT JUST MAKES EVERYTHING SO WACKY. life is so fantastic and interconnected and everything going on with jodie and morgan makes me think about that again
in the foster timeline, by the way, i like to think that they met at a CVS when they both went in to get flu shots :] since jodie is mentioned to be afraid of needles (in jimmy's fact about jodie trying to make NICHOLAS no longer afraid of needles (and then is implied that nicholas was never the one afraid at all lol)), i think its sweet to imagine morgan noticing his anxiety and offering to hold his hand, even though theyre strangers. ultimate meet cute material of all time
AND YEAH. YEAH. RODIE. i need to tear the universe apart of them for REAL oh my god. they mean everything to me actually. fucked up little demon bond of all time. all i ever want to do in this fandom is making people think about jodie and ron, theyre so deeply in love and i need everyone to know this

For the The Excessively Detailed Headcanon Tumblr Meme asks Kai 1, 6, 7, 14, & 20
What does their bedroom look like?
Kai's bedroom is very minimalistic he's got a dresser and clothes, a desk, a nightstand and a bed. At least that's what it looks like to and outside.
Kai's desk is literally stuffed with drawings and other things from his family that he hoards, he also has a bunch of boxes under his bed with more stuff from everyone/birthday presents.
top of his dresser has literally so much crap he didnt want lloyd and jay to reach falling off it that the little scavengers get the stuff anyways.
6. Eating habits and samples daily menu
Kai literally puts hot sauce on everything, eggs? Hotsauce. Skittles? Oh yeah that definitly needs hot sauce
Daily menu sorta depends on whos cooking but ingrediants are usually bought either on sale or in bulk to save money since theres so many people
So things like eggs, peanut butter, noodles and rice
Ergo things that are made a lot are: eggs of all kinds, curry, fried rice, PB pancakes, noodles with PB sauce, pb sandwiches and thibsg like that
7. Favorite way to waste time and feelings surrounding wasting time:
When Kai actually does decide to waste time he either plays video games or tries learning different dances, his favorite is breakdancing!
however its pretty rare for Kai to waste time on himself, usually only if none of his other siblings are doing anything because he got so used to doing everything for Nya and him that its hard to just, not need to do somethng productive or helpful.
14. Physical abnormaties?
I think aside from the scar above his eye he also has several burns on his hands and arms from both his power and the forge, has chronic pain in his hands, back and some other places.
Also has lots of cut scars everywhere from ninja work and also has phantom pains from some of the worse ones.
Definitely on the short side due to malnourishmente.
permanant eyebags.
I think that aside from Lloyd, Kai has the most stretchmarks, going from slightly starving half to getting more then enough food at the monestary, Kai always did his best to spare Nya from going hungry so she was still sorta malnourished but not as bad.
Once they both got a more steady diets they shot up to full quite a bit and then kai stayed at that height and nya grew a little bit afterwards.
20. Childhood illnesses?
Again kai was pretty malnurished and because of that he got sick a lot in winter, mostly colds and maybe the flu once or twice, one time he got pneumonia though and it was pretty bad, of course nya and kai didnt know that it was pneumonia just that kai almost died
that was the reason nya learned how to work the force actually as before kai didn't want her touching it but with him being really out of it and them needing money and such... Well yeah.

@febuwhump Day 11: Fever
Fandom: Quantum Leap Whumpee:  Ian Wright
Summary: Ian goes to work sick, because of course they do.
((credit to @sagetheenbymage for the brief mention of the character Fern towards the end!! ))
AO3 Link
~~*———————————————*~~
Ian felt like ass. They were pretty sure they looked like ass too, despite the copious amounts of foundation and concealer they’d attempted to hide their gaunt features and eye bags with. They scarcely had the energy to even do their hair this morning, the fuzzy mess of bleached, untamed curls left to do what it liked and they just knew it looked like ass.
“You look like ass, Ian,” was literally the first thing out of Jenn’s mouth when they came to work.
“Ian, are you okay? You look... tired,” was Addison’s slightly more tactful first words.
“Oh, hell no. No way. No.” was Magic’s reaction. “What are you doing working in this state?”
Ian tried to brush him off, staring intently at Ben’s vitals as if the words on screen would stop blurring in and out of each other if they just looked a little harder. They were fairly sure they were shivering despite how unreasonably warm someone had made it in here -- were they sweating? Great, they probably smelled like ass now.
“Ian, answer me.” Magic’s voice was a little firmer this time, clearly not happy about being ignored despite his concern. “You’re not doing anyone any favors by being here.”
“I’m fine,” Ian insisted, “I’m functioning.”
“You’ve been staring at that screen saying nothing for about an hour,” Jenn called over from her desk, leaning to shoot them a raised brow, “Bull.”
Ian shot her a sharp glare -- then quickly regretted it as their vision swam. Hell, maybe they were a little sicker than they thought. “Look, I-I have to monitor Ben’s leaps. I have to keep an eye on Ziggy, I can’t just not come to work.”
“You saying my team isn’t capable of covering you for a couple damn days?” Magic lifted a brow of his own, and Ian felt their cheeks darken under the makeup (though if it was embarassment or a hot flush they weren’t sure). “Or that they’re disposable enough you can risk spreading whatever damn flu you’ve got to everyone else?”
“No-.. no of course not, I just-..” Great, they were getting flustered and not even in a fun way. As their breaths picked up their head swam and before they could collect themself Magic had to catch them in a swoon, carefully supporting them upright and looking them dead in the eye. “Go home, Ian.”
“If you move now you can catch a ride with Fern,” Jenn called over, “They’re finishing their shift in five.”
“I can drive, Jenn.”
“I’ll bring your car by later. You’re not driving like this.”

Uberhood rotation - Goth update (s0e2)
It's the Goth family's turn!
I'll go over the most important events that took place after I began my Uberhood rotation. And it's gonna be a doozy.
If you're not a fan of all the jabbering, at least take a peek at the screenshots, they're cute and/or hilarious. I PROMISE!
Tumblr media
Mortimer Goth married Dina Caliente shortly after Bella's disappearance - within a year if we want to be specific. Regardless of what the back-fence talk was, Mortimer truly loved her and she loved him. The thing most of the blabbermouths missed was how Mortimer and Bella's marriage lost its spark years before the incident even took place. The high school sweethearts simply drifted apart, ending up unfulfilled and bored in the long run, and the separation process was in motion. It's not surprising that Mortimer Goth became the main suspect in the beginning stages of police investigations - the charges were dropped in short order though. While he was officially clear of blame, some residents of Pleasantview held onto their own hunches. His son Alexander was one of them.
Deep inside, Alexander knew it was a setup. Misconduct of SOME kind must have taken place. It HAD to. The whole thing just didn't add up - the timing, the circumstances, the so-called "proof" of everyone's innocence, the "investigation", and most of all, the silence. The God-forsaken, gut-wrenching, agonizing, harrowing silence that swallowed the town whole. One day, Bella was there and she was gone the other. That's how it all went down, simple as that. It's like everyone around him was playing pretend that she was never there to begin with, making him feel utterly alone and at the edge of insanity.
And so he began his own investigation, confidently believing that his father was to blame.
Tumblr media
Although he knew Lilith by sight, mainly because his sister Cassandra babysat the Pleasant twins years ago, he finally got to know her at college. After some long night walks, diner dates, and a few kisses shared over the grave of her late father, the deal was sealed. He loved her immensely. Lilith became the light in his sea of darkness, the serene voice in the torturous, mute void.
Mortimer died of old age around that time.
After they both successfully got their degrees, they moved back into the Goth mansion together. To say Lilith was ecstatic would be an understatement; oh the delightful life she was almost guaranteed... She could finally be at peace. Safe.
Tumblr media
With two children around and one on the way, Lilith was preoccupied with the homely duties of your average parent. Those same duties caused Alexander great agony; he's gone completely off-grid. He felt immense guilt for getting carried away from what mattered the most; the truth. Enlightenment.
His frustration caused him to behave rather recklessly and in a desperate attempt to feel closer to that alluring enlightenment, he ended up luring a grand vampire into the mansion and locking her up in the attic, right where his father's experiments took place. While the first days were rough, soon it almost felt like she wasn't interested in getting away anymore. With time passing they bonded, one thing soon led to another and...
He became a creature of the night.
As pale as paper and as thin as bone, eyes red like fire glimmering with lust. At moments entirely weak, sporadically oozing power.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(He felt a wee bit silly in the last shot.)
And you know what's hilarious about all of this? His family was clueless. Not forever, but for an embarrassingly long while. Taking care of three toddlers while your husband locks himself up in the attic 24/7 causes you to become exhausted and absentminded at times? No way! What?!
Anyway, the grand vampire dashed after successfully turning Alexander. His family understood that the state he found himself in wasn't a simple case of flu when they saw his skin burn up at the slightest touch of sunlight. That and his teeth. And eyes. And the constant "Bleeh!"ing. Oh and the bat form. That felt a little out of place.
Tumblr media
Lilith wanted to support her sweetheart in his dreams but it was getting harder and more taxing with time. She never saw him anymore. It felt like he never showed interest in her or their children anymore. The days were the worst; that's when the Goth mansion fell completely silent, with Alexander deep in slumber and the children at school.
She isn't proud of it. Who in their right mind would be? She's betraying Alexander, the children... Herself. But is it really that simple?
Tumblr media
She believes it's the crippling exhaustion and loneliness that led her into Dustin's arms. With him, she has something special; history. Intertwined, complicated history that goes back years and years. The sense of familiarity brings her sheer comfort in these trying times. Oh, what they've been through...
Don't get her wrong though; she didn't act on it. Physically speaking, at the very least.
Stay tuned to find out more about this drama in the Pleasant family and the Broke family update. :P
Tumblr media
Lilith, Alexander being spooky in a tank top and their first son Edgar just chilling.
Tumblr media
Edgar trying to bond with a school friend while his father's being his good ol' stinky vampire self.
That's it for now! If you made it this far, thank you so MUCH for basically reading my messy game notes.
Writing all of this out is really helping me remember all the plot points happening in my game and sharing the screenshots just brings me so much joy. Man, this is fun.

Okay, I know I'm giving Joanne Karen a hundred times more space in my head than she deserves, but considering her politics I kind of want to write a series about this kid who discovers he belongs to a group of mages who have kept themselves secret from the outside world for centuries. Let's call him Tim Raddle.
And to begin with he adores this world. Instead of the sterile care of an orphanage in the company of other children who sense there is something different about him and shun him for it, he finds a home at the school we'll call, hm, Pigspots. But as he gets older, he starts to see the horror beneath the surface. Magical creatures and non-magical humans are both despised. Oh, they wouldn't use that word, but that's what it amounts to. Normal people starve and die and suffer while he got the flu cured by a flick of the school nurse's wand. His mother could have been saved by this society. Later he understands that no, the system killed her along with a million other mortals every day.
He talks about this to people who seem sympathetic; Belle whose brother was disowned for falling in love with a mortal human man; Harold and Roland who put as much energy into hiding their non-human natures; and this group of teenagers truly believe they can take on the world. Tim thinks he might be in love with Belle for a long time before realising that the feeling was envy. The next term she asks her friends to call her Violet Grimm, after her mother.
Then things start to fall apart. Harold got outed as non-human and took a hard labour job before anyone could come up with some reason to get him expelled. Belle's parents learned she was spending her time with "half breeds and inverts" and told her not to come home the summer she graduated. Violet can't go back to the world she was born to - too old for the orphanage to help even if she still looked like the boy they sent away to school. Roland kept his head down and managed to snag an apprenticeship, while Violet sweet talked her boss into letting the other three live in her two room flat above the shop.
From there, between long hours, they tried to change the world. First petitions and meetings, then a shot at local elections that Belle's family sabotaged even though they didn't need to. The status quo suited the people in power very well, thank you very much, and the people it didn't suit had no power to change it. Lycanthropes couldn't be trusted with a vote, goblins and trolls weren't even legally people, and suggesting otherwise was like trying to put a dog in office.
Belle started working later at the apothecary, and then started getting letters about family funerals. It was less than a year later when Lady Isabella Blaque, dressed in mourning robes, took ownership of the family estate. From there, with money and titles to put to work, it wasn't hard to put forward her wife Violet for a ministerial role - not anything exciting, but necessary, worthy work. It was even easier to suggest a couple of terribly good janitorial staff, and everyone knows that even secure premisses get dusty.
Meanwhile Violet has been using her pretty words to garner a touch of sympathy in unexpected places, and more than a touch in others. She wants peaceful change, a better world for all, but if this ancient corrupt system doesn't, then she's prepared.
She's going to burn it to the ground.

Light in the Dark - Chapter Twenty-Nine
Warnings: None! :)
She desperately wished this nausea would go away. Between that and the tiredness, she was ready to be done. Whatever kind of illness she picked up on the run last week was annoying as shit.
Daryl, of course, was hyper-attentive to her changes. Once he found out that she was picking at her food because she didn’t feel well, he sentenced her to their shared cell for rest. She was not excited to be cooped up when she could be helping the group. Everyone had a job to do and had to pull their weight. That included her.
As soon as she hit the bed though, she felt much different.
Hershel and Dr. S didn’t wake her up until the sun was starting to set. Daryl stood in the doorway behind him, looking at her with nothing but nerves in his eyes.
“Good morning.” Hershel greeted her with a smile, “I hear you’ve not been feeling very well.”
Olivia slowly sat up and tried to steady herself when she was hit with a wave of dizziness. “Can’t imagine who you heard that from.” She tried to recover and shot Daryl a teasing look.
“Ya been asleep for 10 hours.” Daryl frowned for a moment before watching the floor, suddenly very interested in the slab of concrete. “Gotta go on watch….” He picked his eyes up to look at her before glancing at the other two men.
Olivia knew what he was getting at and nodded. If he went ahead and found the doctors then he had to be worried about her. Besides, she wasn’t going to lie to them when they could make her feel better.
Once he was gone, Dr. S got down to business. He felt her forehead for a fever, checked her blood pressure, and asked about her symptoms.
“Virus?” Olivia guessed when the two consulted each other.
“How long has it been since your last period?” Hershel asked quietly.
Her heart stopped. No, that wasn’t it. “I-I mean. It’s been a while, but malnourishment can do that and-“
“I think we need to take a test just to be safe.” He took her hand and gave it a squeeze. “I’ll ask Daryl-“
“No.” She cut him off. Oh God no. “Please. Daryl will…can Glenn or I-“
“I’ll ask Glenn and Maggie to make a run.” Whatever she tried to spit out, Hershel seemed to understand. He shared a look with Dr. S and stood up, off to find the runners.
Olivia looked up at Dr. S, “I-it can’t be anything else?”
“Dizziness, nausea, fatigue…they could be symptoms of another illness, but I’d expect you to have more than just those. If you were ill with a flu or a cold I’d expect some sort of congestion, cough, fever….” He gave her a small smile. “It’s a beautiful thing, you know. We’ve got a great thing going here.”
Olivia tried to feel the same way but doing so was difficult.
Once Dr. S left her to rest, she laid down and put her hands to her face.
Oh God. Oh God. Daryl was going to flip his lid.
Dr. S was right, the prison was great and stable and home. But the world outside…that was a nightmare that wasn’t going away. Would Daryl want to bring a child into that? He was great with Judith, but he had no say in whether or not Judith was born. But this…Oh God. This was her fault.
One time won’t kill us, Daryl. She very clearly remembered telling him that in the showers. No, one time wasn’t going to kill him, but it sure as hell was going to kill her. He was going to kill her.
They had never even talked about having a baby. Cody had asked once, so long ago it felt like months had gone by. Even after that they hadn’t sat down and talked about if they’d like a child of their own. Things were too crazy with the end of the world and Judith and….
What if Daryl didn’t want a baby? What if Daryl didn’t want their baby and he left? How could she raise a baby on her own? How could she raise a baby without Daryl? How could she be without Daryl?
Glenn and Maggie came back when the night was well established. Olivia was awake in her cell, far too scared to sleep. Thankfully Daryl was still on watch for a few more hours.
“Kinda exciting, isn’t it?” Maggie tried to be encouraging when she passed off the test.
Olivia didn’t feel very excited. She felt sicker than she had been all week. “Thank you both. I appreciate it.” She hurried out of the room and straight to the bathrooms.
Taking a pregnancy test was a new experience for her. She never thought she’d be in a state of fear when taking one. She planned to be careful, to be ready to have a baby when she got pregnant. Life was full of surprises.
After five minutes, or what felt like five minutes she checked the test.
Fuck.
.--.
Daryl was going to kill her. Daryl was going to freak out, blow up, lose his damn mind, then he was going to kill her.
“You’re not showing yet, so I’d guess you’re still early in the pregnancy.” Dr. S continued but Olivia wasn’t listening. Not really. “Usually, nausea starts around week six to week nine, so we can estimate you’re around there.”
Week six to nine…so she was two months in already? Oh god.
“You’re probably about halfway through the first trimester. Before the apocalypse your periods were the last week of the month? So that would put you at around week nine, almost week ten if they would continue to be consistent.” He kept talking, making her feel sicker to her stomach. How could she be two months pregnant? Already? Daryl was going to murder her.
When Hershel took her hand, Olivia zoned in again. She couldn’t even feel guilty about her lack of focus. He didn’t scold her though. “I know you’re scared. I know you’re worried about having this baby. But the best thing you can do for yourself and this child is to take care of yourself and try to relax. Every pregnancy is different. Have faith, Olivia. That’s the best thing you can do.” She felt ill at the way he referenced Lori’s pregnancy. That thought hadn’t even crossed her mind. If Daryl didn’t kill her, maybe being pregnant would.
She took off towards the watchtower when Dr. S and Hershel released her with her orders to take it easy. It was better to get this over with. Daryl was far too observant for her to hide things from him, and they never kept secrets in their relationship. She wasn’t about to start now, especially with something so important.
He was sitting on the ledge of the watchtower but had turned to face the door as she opened it. No doubt he saw her coming. “What’s the verdict?” He moved his crossbow, so it was beside him instead of resting on his legs and patted his lap.
She took the spot slowly, unsure if it was safer to sit with him or keep her distance. She knew how Daryl could be when he got angry. He’d never hurt her, of course he wouldn’t. But he’d yell and blow up and that was bad enough for Olivia at the moment. Hell, she hadn’t even said anything and she was nearly in tears.
“S’going on? Ya good?”
Olivia was trembling now, trying to take deep breaths. “I don’t keep secrets from you-“
“And ya better not.” Daryl frowned. He tried rubbing her back to calm her down, “ya ain’t answerin’ me, woman.”
“It’s not easy for me to say Daryl-“
“Ya bit?” His voice faltered and she looked up at him in horror. That’s what he thought was wrong with her? Where on Earth had he even gotten that notion?
She sputtered, trying to force out the no, but she was in such a state of shock at the question and fear at what was really wrong with her that talking was difficult. “Wha…Daryl. I-…no! I’m not…why would you-“
“Had tha’ close call last week an’-“
“I’m pregnant.”
Daryl shut up then, staring at her. His face was unreadable, blank as she’d ever seen it. For a brief moment she thought about repeating it in case he hadn’t heard her, but she couldn’t force the words out a second time. The blue eyes she loved so much fell from her eyes to the field beyond.
No matter how badly she wanted to look away herself, she couldn’t. She analyzed his face, watching each little twitch of muscle, each shift in his eyes, each wrinkle in his skin. Nothing about the way he moved gave her any indication of what was going through is mind. And that made it worse.
He opened his mouth to speak after a while but let it close. Olivia swallowed hard, her vision blurring while he closed his eyes. It seemed he was trying not to blow up at her, trying to be gentle if he could help it.
“I’m sorry.” Olivia broke down then, tears spilling over onto her cheeks at the thought of upsetting him. She tried to scoot away so she could give him the space he needed from her. “I-I’m sorry.”
“Jesus, Sunshine.” Daryl put his arms around her and hugged her tight, so her head was tucked under his chin and she couldn’t escape, “Ain’t gotta be sorry.”
“I-I don’t want you t-to be mad at me.” She hiccuped through her tears. The last thing she wanted to do was hurt him. It was her fault they were in this predicament. He’d always been careful to minimize the chances of her being pregnant and she’d ruined it in a matter of seconds.
Daryl kissed her forehead, rubbing the tears from her cheek in the gentle way he always did, “Ain’t mad, Sunshine. Jus’ nervous. Baby… s’a big thin’.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Livia. Stop bein’ sorry.”
“But I said-“
“I know whatcha said. An’ ya know what I said…and did…after tha’.” She could feel his smirk against her forehead before he gave her another kiss. “Ya sure? I-I mean, Dr.S and Hershel. They sure?”
Olivia nodded. “Glenn and Maggie got me a test.”
Daryl shrugged, “Could be wrong.” Was that hopeful?
She trembled a little harder. He didn’t want the baby. God how was she going to raise a baby on her own? She couldn’t…she couldn’t get rid of it. She couldn’t do it. But the world was nuts and…and losing Daryl….
“S’wrong, Sunshine? We’re gunna be fine. You’re gunna be jus’ fine. Gunna have a baby. Have a lil’ playmate for lil’ Asskicker….”
At his words, she felt confident enough to peek up at him. “Y-you wanna have the baby?”
Daryl scoffed as if not having it wasn’t even a thought that crossed his mind, “’Course I do. Ain’t gettin’ rid of our baby. U-unless…less ya dun-“
“I thought you’d hate me.” She whispered, fresh tears falling from her eyes, “I-I thought you wouldn’t want it or me a-and then-“
“Nah, nah, Sunshine. ‘Course not. ‘M sorry. I didn’t…I didn’t mean it like that. Love ya more than anythin’. Thought ya knew that….”
Olivia snuggled deeper into him while he rubbed her arm and pressed gentle kisses to her temple. For the first time in the last few hours, she felt peaceful, despite the unexpected news.
They were going to have a baby. She was going to have Daryl’s baby.
.--.
“So how long ‘fore it does somethin’ cool?” Daryl asked Dr. S the next morning. They hadn’t yet told anyone about her being pregnant but would have to do so soon. Daryl had made it clear that Olivia was to do nothing dangerous while she was carrying their baby.
Someone had retrieved another pregnancy test for Olivia to take in the morning. The tests were more accurate after sleeping at night or something. Dr. S had explained it, but Olivia wasn’t listening.
Her and Daryl had the same fears because before she took the test he said, “Better come back positive. If he got me all excited for nothin’ Imma be pissed.”
Thankfully, it was positive.
“Something cool?” Dr. S didn’t understand Daryl’s question. He took off his stethoscope when he was finished checking Olivia’s blood pressure.
Daryl shrugged, “Yeah, like…move er somethin’.”
He smiled up at the father to be, “Well, Olivia will feel the baby move well before you will. She can feel the baby as early as week 16. You, however, will have to wait until around week 24.”
“What? S’bullshit.”
Olivia couldn’t keep the grin off of her face. He wanted to feel the baby move. He was excited about their baby. Suddenly she felt stupid for thinking Daryl would feel any differently than he did. Of course, he would be excited. Daryl loved Judith. He loved Olivia. Why wouldn’t he be happy about a baby with Olivia?
She held his hand as she listened to ‘best practices’ from Dr. S. In truth she hoped Daryl was taking better mental notes that she was. Her mind was occupied with one thing: They were going to have a baby.

(Ahanon is currently lounging in their house, reading some random book Ms. Pela had made them beta read for her. Apparently she wrote it and wanted them specifically to speak their thoughts on it.)
Simple plot, but effective, it always got readers on the edge of their seat and makes them yell in frustration for the two to kiss… Heh, boy do I know the… Feeling…
(They immediately sat up, interested at a particular part of the story.)
… Oh my god, Ms. Pela…
The book read: “I do not love him! Your just spouting nonsense now!!!”
His friend stared at him with a deadpan stare. “Yeah, sure, mhm, totally— I’m not going to do this again Sam! You need to stop denying it and delaying or you’ll lose the chances you have of being with him!”
Sam rolled his eyes and stood up. “Like you said, I’m not doing this again either! I do not have any feelings. Period.”
“You didn’t seem like it that one time Garrett got the flu—“”That is beside the point.”
“No it’s not! I’m telling you, running around in circles like this won’t work!”
Sam sighed and walked back to his room, ignoring his friend yelling at him to ‘wake up.’
“… I don’t like him.”
… He admits he’s attractive, but so does everyone else! I mean, everyone likes Gerard! He’s a novel citizen, good work, good pay, good life, good family, and good money!
Sam? He can’t even count the amount of times he’s went to jail! He’s a crook, a criminal, an absolute fool… He and Gerard would never work. Never.
… Sometimes, though, he allows himself to wish.
.
.
.
.
“…ett…rett…”
“… Garrett!!!”
Garrett snaps out of his trance and looks back at his friend, who looks at him with a raised eyebrow. “These bags won’t carry themselves lover boy! Help me out!” “Ah, of course, sorry.”
Garrett immediately picked up a few bags and walked alongside his friend, who side-eyed him.
“If you were daydreaming about—“”I was not daydreaming about Sam.” “I didn’t even mention Sam.” “I can already tell you we’re going to bring him up.”
“Basta, tomato tomato.”
Garrett sighed, shaking his head. “I don’t like him, nor love him.”
“Keep telling yourself that.” “I’m serious.”
“And so am I, Garrett.” They said seriously, looking at them with a stern gaze as if they were a parent scolding their child. “You need to reflect seriously, and think about this. You can never just easily put a label like this when it comes to love.”
“I have already thought and reflected, and I can say with full confidence that I do not like Sam.” His friend sighed and kept walking.
“… You won’t be able to be with him forever, Garrett.” This made him stop walking, staring at them as if they had insulted him. “Again, I’m serious. You know how many enemies he has? How many enemies you have? Something could happen to either one of you or even both! And you would never get the chance to talk again.”
This made him stop once again, it made him think. Garrett was rich, sure, but it meant people wanted his money. His family was well known too, which made him even more of a target.
Sam… Sam always landed himself in jail. One day he himself could go too far and get tased by the cops, or worse, shot and killed. Not to mention the amount of people he’s hurt and scammed.
As Garrett was thinking, his friend snapped their fingers to get him out of his trance.
“See what I mean now, Garrett? Both of you are big figures, both well known, which makes an easy target.”
“…” They sighed and put a hand on his shoulder. “You can still wait, but don’t keep each other waiting so long. Both of you have dangerous lives, you might as well spend what little you have left with each other not as rivals, but as lovers.”
(The book ended there.)
(Ahanon laughed loudly as they finished reading.)
Oh Ms. Pela, stooping to a new low I see!
(They sigh and place the book down on their table.)
… She asked me how she should end it…
(They said thoughtfully, looking towards an old picture of themself and Sampo, it was… From a really long time ago.)
… I haven’t seen him this happy… For a long time.
Maybe… Maybe I’ll wait and see, then I’ll tell her how the story should end.

Needles
S/I: Sabrina | F/O: Kamek | Pre-Relationship | WC: 1,431
Sabrina stared morosely at the missive she received in her mailbox. Flu season was coming up soon, and everyone in the castle was mandated to get a flu shot. She knew that something like this was coming - it made sense with so many people with less-than-stellar hygiene packed into one castle, but...
She was distracted by Kamek approaching her. "Hey, Kam," she said, trying to smile.
"Why the long face?" Kamek asked. "It doesn't suit you."
"It's nothing," Sabrina said. She made to put the missive away.
Kamek snatched it from her hand and read it. "Oh, the flu shots. I suppose I'll get mine today. When are you going?"
"...Friday..." It was Wednesday now. Two days to psyche herself up, and then the weekend to decompress. Seemed reasonable.
Kamek frowned at her. "Are you sure you're alright? You haven't already come down with something, have you?"
"No." Sabrina smiled at his concern. "I'll be fine. Don't worry about me."
"You can't tell me what to do," Kamek muttered and then looked surprised at himself. "Um."
Sabrina giggled, squashing her errant feelings down. Yeah, she'd be fine.
~~~
She wasn't fine.
It was Friday afternoon, and she paced in the corridor leading to the flu vaccine center. Everything was fine, actually. She would just go in, sit down and get a shot. It'll be fine! The needle won't be in her for even a second. She can just walk in, get it over with, it'll be just a tiny pinch - she's done it before! And she survived every time! So it'll be fine! She was a grown woman who could 300% get a flu shot without being scared and crying like a baby so why can't she just walk through that door and do it what is wrong with her -
"Sabrina?"
She froze in the middle of the hall, tears in the corner of her eyes. "Kam?"
"What's wrong?" Kamek asked, rushing toward her. He outstretched a hand almost as if to wipe the tears from her eyes, and then thought better of it, leaving it hovering awkwardly between them.
"I - its nothing." Sabrina wiped her eyes, but to her horror the tears just kept coming.
"That doesn't look like nothing," Kamek said, brow furrowed in worry. He stepped closer.
"I - I just -" Sabrina swallowed thickly. "Gimme a minute." She lowered herself to the floor, head buried in her knees, shaking.
Kamek knelt next to her and cautiously put an hand on her back, running his hand up and down in comfort. It was nice, Sabrina thought absently, and helped her attempts to regain control over her own breathing.
Finally, she raised her head, face a mess of tears. "Sorry," she whispered, looking at the floor.
"Why do you always apologize for trivial things like this?" Kamek waved a handkerchief in front of her. "Stop doing that."
Sabrina giggled, wiping her face. What do you do with a used handkerchief anyway? Would it be creepy to keep it forever?
"Sabrina..." Kamek said, drawing her attention. "Do you...want to talk about it?"
Bless him, putting all that effort to be comforting even though he looks like he'd rather have his teeth pulled. But the reason for her outburst still sat in her throat like lead, and the after effects of it were robbing her of her words. "...The shot," she finally muttered, ears burning.
"The flu shot? Have you gotten it yet? You're not having side effects are you?"
Sabrina shook her head.
"Er. Is that a no to getting the shot or a no to the side effects."
She shook her head again. No to both.
"You said you'd get it today, right? They're about to stop giving them out for the day."
Sabrina paused. She could push it off until Monday...but then that's just extending the amount of stress she'd be under. She took a deep breath. "It's the needle," she admitted. "I'm not..."
Kamek digested this. "You're afraid of needles? That's...you don't need to be, its just a little - "
"I know," Sabrina interrupted, voice echoing down the hallway. "I know," she whispered, looking like she was going to cry again. Kamek panicked internally. Now he'd done it. His hands hovered uncertainly around her.
"Um...excuse me?"
They both looked up. One of the volunteers stood in the doorway, staring at them in confusion. "Are you here for a flu shot? Were just about to close..."
Sabrina steeled herself. "I need one," she declared, standing up abruptly.
"Perfect!" The volunteer held the door open. "Right this way!"
It was times like these that Kamek really admired his friend (he still couldn't believe they were friends). Even with all the crying she had been doing earlier, she was still determined to push through her fears and get that shot, never mind that she looked like she was marching off to face a firing squad. Kamek trailed behind her.
The room was largely empty, on account of it being the end of the day on a Friday. All but one of the vaccine stations was packed up for the weekend, and Sabrina sat stiffly on the chair beside it.
"So how has your day been," the volunteer asked, prepping their workstation.
"...Fine." She wore a smile like a mask, keeping her eyes on the volunteer's hands.
The volunteer looked up again. "Right or left arm?" They asked.
"........Left."
The volunteer paused. "Scared, huh?"
"A little." Sabrina laughed nervously. "I know it's stupid..."
"Not at all!" The volunteer smiled. "You're not the only one we've given a shot today who's afraid of getting one."
"...right." Sabrina looked miserable. Kamek wanted to wipe that look off her face somehow.
"Well at least you're here! We've had to chase some folks down for their shots, can you believe it? You're doing great!"
Sabrina stayed quiet, taking slow, measured breaths. The volunteer glanced meaningfully between Kamek, who was hovering arms length away from Sabrina, and Sabrina herself. As if he was supposed to do something. Unfortunately, he had absolutely no idea what he was supposed to be doing.
Kamek stepped up to Sabrina's right, taking her hand in his. She squeezed it, a little too tightly.
"Okay, you ready?" The volunteer asked.
Ready as she could hope to be, under these circumstances. Sabrina rolled up her sleeve. Of course, when the volunteer touched the disinfecting pad to her arm, she almost jumped out of her seat.
Sabrina sighed, settling back down. "Sorry."
"I told you to stop apologizing," Kamek said, squeezing her hand again. Sabrina leaned against him, away from the syringe, burying her face in his chest. By some instinct, Kamek shielded her face with his arm. The volunteer looked like they had a front row seat to the latest gossip. They probably did, Kamek thought sourly, glaring back at them. They put their hands up in surrender, reaching back over to disinfect the injection site.
They positioned the syringe. "Just a little pinch," they warned. Sabrina held her breath, and it was done. The realization came delayed, but when it did, Sabrina exhaled, slumping into Kamek momentarily. She sat up, rubbing her face with her hands.
"That wasn't so bad, was it?" Kamek jostled her. Sabrina laughed, wiping at her face, jostling him back.
The volunteer put a bandaid on her arm. "You're free to go," they said, packing up their equipment.
Sabrina wasted no time in getting up and out of there. She hadn't let go of Kamek's hand, though, and he had no intention of mentioning it to her. She was walking a bit fast, though...Kamek gave her arm a tug. She stopped short, looking at him.
"Why don't we...why don't we go down to the mess hall for dinner? Together I mean," he added, uselessly. "I bet we can convince the cooks to make your favorite."
Sabrina mulled over the suggestion. "That sounds fun, but...I'm not sure I have the spoons to be in public, right now."
Spoons...? Oh, right. "That's not a problem." Kamek waved a hand in dismissal. "I can walk you to your quarters, and then I can convince them and bring the food back for you."
"Okay," Sabrina smiled shyly, swinging their hands. Oh yeah, they were still holding hands. Kamek stood, stupefied.
"Are we gonna...?"
"Oh! Right. Yes." Kamek started down the hall, Sabrina falling into step beside him.
"Thank you for earlier," Sabrina said. She was really lucky to know him.
"Of course," Kamek replied. "What are friends for?"
"Friends~" Sabrina hummed, still holding Kamek’s hand. Something twisted in Kamek's chest. Friends.
i’m starting to feel a little sick and trying to figure out why is just like
is it cuz it’s winter and it’s now getting colder out?
is it because the kids at work were sick not too long ago?
is it cuz i was off my regular meds this past week and now have to stop the withdrawal and re-regulate?
and/or bonus; the stress from dealing with the insurance company, doctor, and pharmacy, who all refused to contact the others directly, forcing me to continuously be involved in every single half-step if i wanted anything to get done?
is it cuz my period’s probably coming soon?
is it actually nothing?
Who knows!
