- You and Heeseung started to be friends since that day
- "So why you become a florist?"
- "Because I love flowers of course, besides this shop is grandma's... She gave it to handle it" you said
- "cute... Just like you"
- "Man, I don't know you are such a flirt"
-At first, he didn't tell you his real identity but eventually you knew yourself
-He tried to cover it up but you convinced him that is nothing need to be worry about it
-"Relax Heeseung... Even though you are mafia, I will not leave you... We are friends after all" you convincing him
-He nodded, a crimson red on his face.
-"If you say so... Thanks YN..." Heeseung thanked you.
-Both of you always hang out when the two of you out of work hours.
-After a few interactions, Heeseung felt something new, a new feeling whenever he with you
-"Sir, this is report you asked for... Ermm sir?"
-Heeseung woke from his daydream and looked at his assistant.
-"Oh uh yes... I am okay...it's just..."
-"It is about Miss YN?" Heeseung's assistant guessed.
-Heeseung's face started to burn up and he even didn't realise it.
-"Do you like her, sir?" the assistant asked.
-Heeseung stared at the photo of him and you. Lost in thoughts again.
-"I-I don't know... Maybe? Yes?"
Park Jongseong
-You and Jay spent more to time and working together to convince Jay's father
-And today your plan will set on motion.
-"What do you mean by I shouldn't divorce? You are my divorce lawyer... You should help me with this process" Mr. Park asked, unsatisfied with your statement.
-"I mean... I just recommend you to discuss this matter seriously with your wife, sir. Divorce is not a child's play."
-Mr.Park just stared at you, if stare can kill, you are definitely dead by now
-"Look... I know that I only a divorce lawyer but what I can say that, there are my clients met me and said that they regretted to have a divorce with their partner without discuss it carefully and rationally... And I hope you will be like them... That's why I suggested you to think about this again" you explained
-You expected to be scolded and might be dead as your client is the mafia leader in your town
-Mr. Park only sighed. "Alright then. I will discuss about this with my wife. I mean you right about regret. Especially to my only son, he might hate us for this" Mr Park said.
-"Yeah... I am sure that your son also don't want to see his parents separate just like that" You assured him.
-"Fine. I will think about this and I will contact you in a short time" Mr.Park said and stood up.
-You nodded and bowed to Mr. Park as he is leaving.
-"Alright you can come out now, Jay"
-Jay opened the door. "Man, you should clean up this store... Dusty" Jay complained
-"Anyway... I already did my part and I hope you can discuss with your father rationally, no fighting" you said to Jay.
-Jay nodded. Understand his task
-"Oh before that" you stopped Jay from walking and fix his tie along with his hair.
-"Okay done... You can go catch up witb your father now" you said, smiled to him
-unconsciously, Jay's face burnt up as he walked out from your office.
Sim Jaeyun
-Since that agreement, you always accompany Maki after school session and you even offer Maki tutoring if he want to
-"And that's how you use this tense correctly" you explained
-"Ah now I get it... Thank you Miss LN..." Maki cheerful said and continued his homework.
-You nodded and smiled. "Here Maki, I have some sandwich I got from cafeteria... In case you get hungry"
-"Wow thanks Miss LN...Why you have three sandwich though" Maki asked.
-"You can share it with brother on your way home later" You said.
-Maki nodded, understood.
-KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK
-"Jake hyung!" Maki happily said when he saw his brother.
-"Hey Maki... How's your day?"
-"Great! And here a sandwich for you, Miss LN bought for you too" Maki said, handed over the sandwich to Jake.
-Jake's face turned to crimson red as he took the sandwich.
-"Ah Thank you Miss LN for this and taking care of Maki for me like always" Jake thanked you.
-You nodded. "Have a safe drive, Mr. Sim... Excuse me" You said and you walked away.
-"Hyung... You face's red" Maki said.
-Jake realised and shook his head. "Ah it's nothing... Why you said that"
-"Do you like Miss LN, hyung?" Maki smirked.
"Eh...? Ah you are thinking too much, Maki. Come on let's gaur now" Jake said as he pulled Maki.
Park Sunghoon
-With that, you are officially a secretary and working under Park Sunghoon, the youngest ceo of a famous company
-Working with him is kinda... How I should put it... Oh right... Tiring much
-He loves to order you to do something unrelated to your real job
-"Record a tv show? Alright sir"
-"Pick the best coloured straw? Okay sir"
-"Cleaning your office? Err okay...?"
-And so on. This is continue until you go ask him about this matter.
-"Sir,may I ask something?"
-"Go on" Sunghoon said, eyes still on his laptop.
-"Why you like to ask me to do unrelated tasks? Don't get me wrong but aren't job like cleaning your office is apart of cleaner's job?" you courageously asked.
-Sunghoon looked at you. "You are quite brave to ask that, Miss LN. I impressed really. I actually will only allow my secretary and myself to ever enter my office if you notice" Sunghoon explained.
-You nodded. "That's why when someone want to see you, you always go to the meeting room instead..." you said.
-"Yes. I cannot risk someone come here and taking my confidential files here. I only trust you for now... And those unrelated tasks is how I can monitor you" Sunghoon added.
-"Even feeding you?"
-"That's... Errmm anyway back to work" Sunghoon turned crimson red.

I kinda wanna see Jason & several others get a bit of a reality check.I've seen comments that Bruce trains kids as 'child soldiers' &??? The only child soldiers are Damien & Steph?? And they didn't become them because of Batman??
From what I recall, Dick, Jason, & Tim all insisted on vigilanteism. Like, Bats TRIED to get them to just stay home where it was safe, but they refused!
Like, what do people expect Bats to have done? Lock them in a dungeon & never let them out?
It's about a 50/50 that would've even worked & on the 50% chance that they did get out, they would've immediately started crime fighting again!
Or, should Bruce have just left them to their own devices, like "not my problem?" They would've either died trying to be heroes on their own & without guidence or grown up to hate the Bat even more for his apethy towards their problems.
Like, whether Jason, or anyone else, likes it or not, Bruce training them was a best case scenario.
All Batman did was try to heard them in the least dangerous direction that he could by giving them the tools to not die a horrible death.
Obviously, it didn't always work (i.e. Jason), but what does Jason expect Bruce to have done in his situation? What would've been the better alternative?
Honestly, I think the problem is that his anger is too big to pin onto just one person, but at the same time, he doesn't want to admit that he got himself into the situation that got him killed. Jason decided to chase after his birth mother without Bruce's aid. Jason went to Ethiopia. Yes, it happened because the Joker believed that there was some sort of connection between Todd & Batman, but how could Batman control that?
Like, I'm not saying that Jay doesn't have a legitimate right to be furiously angry at Bruce. I just think that he should focus on the things that the overgrown furry could actually control & did not handle correctly.
Like, the fact that he was hurt about Tim becoming Robin is understandable, but he didn't really have all the facts to understand the context surrounding Tim becoming Robin. Like the fact that Bruce was not functioning well without a Robin or that Tim refused to just stop when he wastold to. There was more to the situation than what Jay was aware of.
At the same time, his arguments about Bruce not avenging him or burying him with the Wayne name. I can understand that & actually very much agree with him.
Batsy should've killed the Joker or, at least, walked away while Dick did it if he wasn't strong enough to do it himself.
But, he didn't. And I get not wanting your kid to have to walk around with that kind of guilt hanging over his head, but reviving the effing Joker went WAY too far.
At the same time, Jason also should've just killed the Joker the moment he got the chance to. Deciding to use the sack of shit to punish Bats, was a dumbass idea. He should've shot his ass & then double, triple, & quadruple tapped, just to make sure.
Then, if he wasn't to be a dramatic asshole, put the Joker's head on a pike in the most visited part of Gotham with a sign with some sort of literary quote. Something to the tune of "Hey ho, the Wicked Witch is dead" or something with that sort of message.
As for the rest of the Joker's body? I'd suggest going the route of John Haigh. Just to be safe...
Gruesome, I know, but you know what? Whatever it takes to clean out the garbagio.
I know what you mean. I think the fandom and people outside the family give brice greif about the child soldier thing more than the kids themselves do. As far as ive seen dick, jason, tim, damian, and even steph own that robin is something they chose. It wasnt sething batman necessarily made them, its something they needed to do. Batman gets a lot of critism, like wise the league has argued about having sidekicks and teams like the titans and yj because theyre children. More often than not i see conflict about the adults trying to take the hero persona away, than about being given the cape in the first place.
But it can be complicated. I have heard the kids regret being vigilantes and regret what they've been made into by the job. So dick will never regret saving lives but he does regret his inability to settle down, the trained to a fault paranoia, the physical scars and mental wounds. The blame of that doesnt fall on batman or bruce. But on some level all kids feel like their parents are supposed to protect them and there's a point where you realize they can't. This is even more true when your a vigilante and exposed to untold danger. Bruce is a man and he isnt perfect so he can't protect his kids from everything. That hurts him more than it hurts his kid. But its still difficult to get hurt and be disappointed that yoir dad, that your hero wasn't there to save you.
Which brings me to jason. I recognize where you're coming from with jasons anger being irrational and all over the place. But what you gotta understand is that
1. He went through a rediculous amount of trauma. Like the time line of events is: bruce accused him of murdering a guy who commited suicide, jason got mad and found evidence of his birth mother, so he ran away to Ethiopia, he and bruce met up their almost coincidentally because bruce was tracking the joker and that communicate bruce didn't care that jason ran away, jason gets beaten with a crowbar and his mother also gets hurt because the joker is a bastard. The joker sets up a bomb and jason struggles to get he and his mom out despite his wounds. The bomb goes off and jason dies right as batman arrives. Then 6 months later jason wakes up and has to literally claw his way out of his own grave. Afterwhich he is catatonic qnd living on the streets until talia finds him
2. He was being manipulated. Talia found jason and trained him with the league and put him in the lazerus pit so he could recover higher brain function. She gave him everything he needed to train and get vengeance and framed it as a favor to her beloved. But she didn't tell the whole truth and didnt have all the information. Her actions here weren't altruistic. Its heavily implied she was sending jason as her loyal soldier to get rid of tim to clear the way for Damian.
3. The lazerus pit is essentially a drug that amplifies emotions. You could think of it as jason being on steroids. While his actions and emotions are his own they were amped up and irrational. So a lot of his irrational behavior and half thought out plans and stupity can be tied back to him having this 'drug' in his system. Emotions take the wheel and make people stupid without drugs amplifying things
But as i said his actions and the root of his feelings are still his own. So as to the why jason is so angry... well its not just that he was replaced or that he died. It that his death seemingly meant nothing. Jason died and seemingly nothing in gotham changed. He didn't see bruce greive. He didnt know that bruce almost killed the joker twice or that dick temporarily succeeded. He didnt know tim wasnt chosen but decided for himself to be robin. What jason aw was that within months of him dying there was another kid in his cape running around gotham and making quips like jason never existed. He saw the joker, his murderer, still on the steets still torturering and killing people. He saw bruce wayne with a new adopted kid. He saw his tenure, his life, the job that he died for reduced to a memorial in the bat cave with a plaque saying "a good soldier". Not a good son. No one but bruce and alfred were at his funeral.
So jason wasnt mad that tim replaced him. He wasnt mad that he died trying to save his mother. He was made that it seemingly effected nothing. That his death meant nothing to his family and it meant nothing to gotham.
If he wasnt mad at tim than why did he almost murder him? To send a message and to teach a lesson. He wanted tim to understand that robin is dangerous and that Bruce's protection was an empty promise. Jason could have killed tim in titans tower, but he didnt. Because tim dying wasnt the goal.
Why go through a convoluted plot to make batman do it? Well, initially it was jason being irrational. He got it into his head that bruce needed to prove that he loved him, to prove that hed protect him by defeating the monster. Jason wanted Bruce to choose being his dad over his no kill rule. And bruce chose the rule.
So that seemingly said, bruce doesnt love him, possibly never loved him. And this is further exhasperated by bruce sucking at communication. Bruce didn't just chose not to kill the joker when given the ultimatum, he threw a batarang at jason. Bruces will said jason was his biggest mistake. Bruce meant it in a 'i fucked up' way but jason took it as further 'adopting and you was a mistake'. Its shit and with the magic equivalent of .drugs further clouding things. Jason having tantrums and always shotting on bruce and the fam is understandable even if its not fair.
Why not kill the joker himself? Well part of that is fear. Jason has tried a few times to kill the joker and between the fucker being somewhat immortal for convoluted reason, trauma making jason freeze up, and outside interference it just hasnt taken.
As for bruce himself not killing the joker or bruce reviving the joker after dick killed him... well that comes back to the rule itself and bruces motivation for never killing. When bruce was younger he wanted to kill the guy who killed his parents. And alfred explained that taking a life is permanent and puts a weight on your soul. Its something you cant take back and something you have to live with forever. Showing people mercy, giving people a second chance is always the kinder option. Bruce made his rule initially because hes a kind person and he didn't want to carry the weight of murder. Likewise he revived the joker after dick killed him because he doesnt want dick to live with that weight, to live with that regret. Later on the rule took a more sinister tone because batman has seen who he becomes when starts killing. He also knows that if he starts killing hed never stop. Its a weird moral absolute but he knows if he could excuse killing the joker he could excuse killing anyone. And eventually anyone would include people who can change and innocents.
Its a little dumb of a moral absolute but its part if Bruce's character. I think its important to recognize the strength that it takes to show mercy to someone a shitty and undeserving as the joker. That kinda why theyre locked into being nemesis. The joker is ar his core nihilistic. He creates suffering because life is hopeless and nothing matters so may as well laugh at the pain. Batman is someone whos felt a lot of pain and is angry at the world that hurts people, but he is someone who gave himself hope and he is someone who sees the good in people even when they dont recognize the good in themselves. He is merciful and that is an act of kindness.
I do think the joker is beyond redemption at this point. It's the trolly problem at the end of the day: is the jokers recovery worth the lives of everyone hes killed tortured, drugged, and maimed? No. If the joker were to get suddenly better and regret his actions, it wouldnt bring anyone back and very few people would forgive him. Hed never be able yo reenter society or have a normal life. Hes never been a character who deserved mercy, but mercy isnt something you give because it's deserved. Personally i'd be more merciful to the jokers victims and put the fucker down.
But thats not my call. It isn't even really batmans call. At the end of the day batman is just a man in a suit. He isnt god and he isnt judge, jury, or executioner. To kill is a choice and batman chooses not to.
A better question is why the jokers life and death is considered batmans responsibility? And why is murder what jason needs for bruce to prove he loves him? I think thats where jason needs the wake up call. Murder isnt a normal response to having your kid murdered, even if im sure all parents going through that think about it. So why does jason need bruce to kill him so bad?
To feel safe. Jason can never feel safe so long as the joker is around and a dad is supposed to keep you safe. Bruce didnt.
Murder and mercy is where their breakdown of communication is. Bruce choses to be merciful to the villains he's fighting. Jason choses to kill the monsters so the victims can feel safe again.

It was like the air in the lobby had been sucked out, no one was screaming or panicking, just standing around, frozen.
Just like you were, with nozzle of a gun against your side. It was a miracle you remembered to breathe, but maybe it had something to do with the bright green eyes that were right across from you, even though they were filled with terror.
You couldn’t remember ever seeing that look on Jay’s face before, except maybe that fuzzy memory from after the attack. Maybe, then. Or maybe it was that moment in the park when the gunshots had gone off. But it had never been like this.
Jay wasn’t supposed to feel relief, not when an emotionally unstable man was standing here with a gun that was resting against your side, demanding for Connor Rhodes, all so that he could probably kill Connor. But Jay also knew that it meant you weren’t Tyler’s target - maybe as a bargaining chip since it was obvious you and Connor were friends, but he wasn’t trying to kill you. And if anything, that was a silver lining.
Jay wrenched his eyes away from you, his gun still pointed at Tyler. “Put the gun down.”
“You put the gun down.” Tyler hissed, digging the gun further into your side and you took a sharp inhale, which made Jay hesitate.
“Now!” Tyler raised his voice and you flinched.
Jay put his arms up quickly, lowering his gun onto the floor. “Okay, okay. Let’s all calm down, alright?”
You exhaled. This was bad, so bad.
“Tyler, right?” You spoke now, not turning in case he thought you were trying to fight, or in case the gun went off. “Everyone’s just nervous because of the gun. Put down the gun, let’s talk.”
“Shut up.” Tyler hissed in your ear, and you heard a distinctive growl from Jay that you were sure wasn’t meant to be audible. “Just get Connor Rhodes over here.”
In his desperation to get to someone or maybe he'd been heading for you in the first place, but he’d totally missed Connor just standing a few feet away behind Jay.
“I’m here, Tyler. Let her go. Just… just let her go, and I’ll go with you.” Connor spoke now, stepping closer, shrugging Will’s arm off. “Whatever you want.”
“I want my wife back!” Tyler suddenly yelled and you jumped a little. “Because you thought you could decide who was more important than my wife, I lost her forever.”
He directed his glare at Connor now, who was just over Jay’s shoulder, the gun digging into your side in his agitation.
“Eyes here, Y/N. Eyes on me.” Jay called for you and your eyes snapped back towards him. Tyler was so distracted with Connor, you didn’t think he even heard Jay speaking to you. Jay was telling you it was going to be okay, that he was here, and that he was going to get you out of this.
“We came in for flu symptoms. How did she die in your hospital? You were too busy helping everyone else, instead of Laura! She was a good person!” Tyler yelled again.
If you didn’t have a gun jammed into your side, you would have felt sorry for him. But now looking back at Jay, with his gun on the floor, the frozen expression on Will’s face as his eyes darted from you to Connor, and even Connor’s expression as he moved nearer.
“Tyler, listen. You remember me, don’t you?” You whispered.
Tyler’s eyes darted towards you but he quickly looked back at Connor again.
“I explained this to you. Remember? We tried, we did. She went into sudden cardiac arrest and we tried, Tyler. We don’t sacrifice patients to save other patients.” You stressed, trying your best to talk him down, even though you were terrified.
Tyler stepped backwards, tugging you roughly along with him. “I said, shut up.”
“Tyler, don’t. Please.” You glanced up at Jay’s voice. It was different, you could tell he was really worried. “I’m not talking to you as a detective, alright?”
That caught Tyler’s attention and he turned to look at Jay now.
“Don’t hurt her. Please.” Jay glanced at you, before his eyes met Tyler’s now.
Jay had been on the job for long enough to tell the difference between a cold-blooded killer and someone who was just consumed by feelings of desperation or of loss, so Jay was trying something else.
“Tyler, listen to me. She’s my entire world, don’t do this.” Jay’s voice was soft now, it had lost the authoritative tone he’d been using just minutes ago. This was Jay. Not Detective Halstead, just Jay talking to Tyler, person to person.
Tyler faltered and you heard his voice at your ear. “He’s your boyfriend?”
You glanced up, without moving too much, before you nodded quietly and Tyler glanced back up at Jay. You knew he was wavering, the thought of Jay being in his position was making him hesitate.
“You know. You know this isn’t the way.” Jay continued, taking another step towards you. The suspense was driving you insane. You knew Tyler was regretting this, he wasn’t sure if he should continue speaking to Jay or if he should demand that he wanted Connor again.
Connor tried to step forward now but Jay shot him a look and Will pulled him backwards again.
You took a deep breath, even though Tyler’s hold on you was now almost choking. You dragged your eyes up to look at Jay even as you could feel your legs shaking. It was wearing off - your attempt at fake bravado, pretending that you were not scared even though you were terrified. It was bad enough hearing the gunshots at the park the last time, but to have a gun jammed against you?
You could feel the panic threaten to engulf you again now, until Jay closed his hand into a fist slowly, his green eyes almost boring into you.
It was a game he’d played with Chloe, like some variation of Freeze and Melt. Jay even made up gestures for her - a fist meant to freeze, opening his hands again meant she could move again, and a whole load of other gestures they made up as they went along.
Freeze.
You did. You stopped moving, just focusing on your breathing, shutting out Tyler’s continued rants directed at Connor, even though some of it made it through anyway.
“So I showed them. Every person you prioritized over Laura is dead, and that is all on you.”
Jay glanced at Connor who stepped out again now. “Tyler, no one else has to get hurt. Just let everyone else go and take me.”
“Don’t do it, Tyler. Don’t do it.” Jay said, almost like he was hoping Tyler would put the gun down. But Jay himself knew that this was only going to end one way.
“I don’t want to hurt you.” Tyler directed his words at Jay now. “Don’t protect him.”
Jay shook his head. “You know I can’t do that, Tyler. You don’t have to do this.”
“Yes. I do.” Tyler’s voice held a note of finality.
Jay released his fist, splaying his fingers out once again and pressed his palm downwards slowly, which only meant one thing.
Down.
Tyler lifted his gun, pointed straight past Jay and at Connor and you threw yourself down towards the ground, past caring if you hurt yourself while doing so, feeling your body crash onto the floor.
Jay reached down for his gun just as a shot resounded through the hall and Jay spun his head around, while keeping his head low. Hailey stood just a few feet behind him, her gun raised and Tyler was now on the ground, the blood seeping out from where Hailey's bullet had made contact with his shoulder.
“Stay down!” You heard Jay’s voice, before you realized he was talking to you, so you kept your head down, not moving, until you felt Jay’s fingers on your shoulder. “Y/N.”
Your body shook now, involuntarily as he helped you up. You didn’t realize you were shaking until Jay put his hands over yours as you sat in the middle of the lobby, biting your lip as you fought to keep your composure.
“Y/N, it’s okay.” Jay whispered. “It’s just us.”
Kevin and Adam had joined Hailey right after, followed by the rest of the team, allowing Jay to go right to you. “Let it out, baby. I’m here.” Jay whispered.
That’s when it hit you. Chloe wasn’t here.
So unlike any other time when you didn’t want to let Chloe see you fall apart, you let it out, just like Jay said, the shaking overtaking your body as Jay pulled you into the safety of his arms and you sobbed, even though you didn’t want to cry. “You’re okay. I got you. I got you. You’re safe now, I’m sorry.”
Jay didn’t let you go until you finally pulled away, turning your face up to him. “Connor? Will?”
Jay glanced behind him. “They’re okay. No one got hurt. Hailey got Tyler in the shoulder but he'll live.”
You exhaled, a sigh of relief, as Jay used a thumb to wipe off the residual tears that stained your cheeks. “Come on, let’s get you up. We should still get you checked out.”
Your legs were still shaking and Jay just looped a steady arm around your waist, pressing you tightly against him, and you knew he’d stay that way for the rest of your lives if he could.
Tumblr media
You’d only had a few bruises but Goodwin had called in a replacement doctor for you anyway and sent you home with Jay once you’d been checked out. Connor and Will had flitted around you for the whole time, with stupid guilty expressions, even though you’d repeated again that it wasn’t anyone’s fault.
You’d assured Jay you were fine, but even Voight had come in to ask Jay to take you home, and to stay there. Hailey would do the report and if there was anything that Hailey hadn’t already gotten from Jay, he could fill it in the next day.
So Jay brought you home and treated you like a sick person, which you were half annoyed by but also half enjoying. Then he went to get Chloe from school and the both of them proclaimed movie night the moment they walked in.
Jay let Chloe pick out the movie so as the colors and music danced across the television screen from a Disney movie, you curled into Jay’s side. Chloe sat at attention between the sofa and the coffee table until she got distracted and insisted on crawling into the space between you and Jay.
You happily obliged, your head now resting on the top of Chloe’s head, yours and Jay’s entwined fingers resting on Chloe’s lap. And as you lay there, you could feel the warmth wash over you, a huge contrast to the fear and unease that had threatened to drown you just a few hours ago.
Almost like he could hear your thoughts, Jay glanced over at you above Chloe’s head, giving you a small smile as his fingers gently tightened around yours and you smiled back at him.
By the time the credits rolled, Chloe had fallen asleep in Jay’s lap and you’d drifted off to sleep next to her as well, your head resting on your folded arm against the back of the sofa. Jay smiled, getting up slowly to lift Chloe into his arms and taking her to bed.
When he came back out, he paused for a minute, watching you sleep, your eyeballs moving just a little behind your closed eyelids like you were having a dream. Jay let his eyes linger on you a while longer, wondering if he should wake you or if he should just try to carry you in. But as his fingers grazed your skin, your eyes snapped open.
“Shh, it’s okay.” Jay whispered, looking concerned. “You okay?”
You took a breath before you nodded. “Yeah.”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you.” Jay said, his voice low.
You shook your head, before you put your hand in his and let him lead you back the way to your bedroom. “You’re staying, right?”
“Where else would I go?" Jay answered with a teasing smile, leaving your door just slightly ajar the way you always left it so you could keep an ear out for Chloe. He climbed into bed after you, tucking his arm under your head so that you could lie against him, especially tonight.
“You know you’re safe right?” Jay whispered into the dark now as you curled yourself closer against him.
You nodded, while turning towards him. “Thank you, Jay.”
Jay just pressed a kiss to the top of your head. “Sleep, babe. I love you.” He whispered.
“Love you too.” You mumbled, falling asleep to the gentle thump of Jay’s heartbeat.

“Alright listen up everyone!” Hank Voight said coming out of his office and looking at his team that was scattered around the bullpen talking lowly with each other as they worked on paperwork.
“We have a major problem. The Sanfino Crime family has hit Chicago and hit us hard.”
“Sanfino?” Libby Reagan asked pushing her chair away from her desk.
Hank nodded his head and looked at her.
“I know them. Michael was involved with them, he all but sold me to Noble.”
 “He did what?” Adam Ruzek asked looking at his friend who nodded her head, “he needed a date, and who better else than the wife of his friend and the daughter of the police commissioner? They thought if they had me under their control then it would be easier not to get in trouble.”
Her husband Jay Halstead shook his head angrily, he had heard all about this when they first got together and it upset him.
Her dead husband had taken advantage of her and even though she was a cop she was powerless to do anything.
“But did it stop?” Alvin asked curiously, she only ever told stories about cases that her brothers or grandfather worked but none of hers.  It was like she wanted to hide it and hide everything that happened with Michael.
“No. Most of them got locked up and the two grandkids fled New York.” She answered as she stood up and tapped her fingers against her thighs, “The one associate of Noble’s almost killed my twin.”
“What else do you know about Noble?”
 “He is a druggie, he would do anything for his next hit.”  Libby said as she pulled open the bottom drawer of her desk and pulled out a notebook and handed it to Hank, “I kept information, that I could remember. I kept the notebook, Riker, my partner kept it with his files.”
“Tell them why.”
 “I came into work on a Monday morning and someone had gone through my desk. It was Michael. After his first stint in jail, he became more paranoid, jealous, and angry. You name it he was. He didn’t like me working the night shift or working with Riker.”
“How many stents did he do?”
“3. The third one is when he got killed.” Libby answered leaning against Jay’s desk, his fingers catching hers and squeezing them.
 “I was at my dad’s house for Sunday dinner and I get this call from the warden telling me that Michael was stabbed and I needed to get down to the hospital. The perks of having the police commissioner as a father we got there at the same time he did. They pronounced him dead after they wheeled him by me.” Libby said using her thumb to move her engagement ring back and forth.
“My family was expecting me to lose control and start crying but I didn’t, I think I was more relieved than anything after everything that he did to me and put me through it was finally over.”
“Did you lose control?” Adam asked.
“Yeah, I finally did after the funeral when my bitch mother-in-law tried to tell me because I started divorce proceedings before Michael was killed that I wasn’t entitled to the life insurance or anything. I flipped.”
“Antonio you remember when Danny was here and he pushed the table into Peter?” Jay asked as he leaned back in his chair. He had been there when that happened and was right there with Danny pulling her away from Marion.  Though they were all just tempted to let the fight go on. Let Libby get out of her system.
“Yeah.” He remembered it all too clearly, he would have done the same thing that the oldest Reagan had done when he found out that Libby had walked into a trap and was almost killed.
“She did that from what Will told me.”
“I threw a drink in her face too. Lucky for her that my brothers were there and pulled me away. I would have started throwing punches.” Libby said.
Carlie Rhodes looked up at Mrs. Halstead and laughed, “And she has a mean left hook.”
“Yes, yes I do.” the former New York Detective said folding her arms under her chest, “So what do you want us to do Sarge?”
Hank looked thoughtful before putting his hands on his hips, “Do you still have contacts within the family?”
 Libby nodded her head slowly, “Yeah Bianca, Noble’s sister texts me all the time, she just moved from New Hampshire.”
“Good, reach out to her. Ruzek, Atwater, I want you two with her.” Hank ordered. “Got it, boss,” Adam answered as Libby went over to her desk and pulled her iPhone out of her desk, and turned it on.
This was her old phone and number that she only used from time to time.
It was a reminder of her former life, the life where she was Mrs. O’Malley, the wife of a prominent lawyer who gave her everything and lived a life that on the outside looked happy. But on the inside, it wasn’t.
 Michael was controlling, abusive and angry, and Libby who was taught how to defend herself and trust cops her entire life became sad withdrawn, and not even trusting her family who was cops.
 She was scared that if she got back into this lifestyle she was going to go back to that. She couldn’t do that not now that she had Jay.
She couldn’t. She wouldn’t.
**
Seeing that Libby was engrossed in her mission of texting Bianca, Jay went over to where Adam and Kevin were at
. “Keep an eye on her.” He said, keeping his voice low so only the two men going undercover with her could hear.
“Course man.” Kevin said glancing over at Libby and then back at Jay, “Was it really that bad?”
“Worse. Ask Carlie or Will they will tell you. Being with Michael wasn’t good for her. She drank heavily, lost a ton of weight, and almost got kicked off of the force.” Jay answered, “I am worried that she will lose control if she gets into deep.”
“We won’t let that happen.” Adam said, “We got her back.”  The former Army Ranger nodded his head before going over to his wife and leaning against her desk.
“You okay?” “I will be okay. Kev and Ruze won’t let anything happen to me. I have too much to lose this time around.” She said softly offering him a smile.
  He returned the smile before looking at the screen of the phone that lit up. “Looks like you are to meet Bianca soon.”  “Then we should get ready. It will take me a while to go into Mrs. O’Malley again.”

By the way, did anybody else notice how Kai's been acting towards Jay?
Like the two of them are still clearly friendly with each other even after the whole standoff they had near the start of the season, but there's been cases throughout the season so far where Kai will just suddenly compliment Jay when he does something?
The two cases I can think of in particular are during Pythor's prison break when Jay zaps away one of the crystal spiders, where Kai goes, "Hey, you got one! Nice shooting, Jay!"
And then the other one was when they were fighting the Mechanic, with Jay making a lame joke:
Jay: Hey look, he's trapped! By Prime Empire! Get it? Trapped by the game? *laughs*
Kai: Ha! Good one, Jay!
Like, normally I wouldn't pay it any mind, since the ninja compliment each other and laugh at each others' jokes all the time, but these just really stood out to me? Like there's this weird emphasis on Kai saying those things when normally they wouldn't really be said. Like they were focused on Pythor's prison break when Jay killed the spider, and Jay tells jokes like those all the time.
And this starts to happen after that fight they both had before Nya even showed up, where they were full-on ready to attack each other with their elements after Kai accidentally spilled over the water Jay was attached to due to his grief and depression. Kai even tried to genuinely apologize to him before Jay turned around and attacked him, so I can't help but wonder if Kai's trying to just give Jay a lot of positive reinforcement because of what happened between them. Especially since Jay's been through a mass depressive episode.

@okayhookedonphonics
Choices in life follow us. Erin had always done what she felt was right for her. She had always wanted to protect herself; it was the survivial insticts in her. She didn’t have the best upbringing thanks to Bunny who had brought drugs into the house, she was addicted to drinking; all the triggers were present. I thought I was going to end up behind bars if it wasn’t for Voight who took me in. He helped make me the women I was today so taking on this burden the case I didn’t care lightly. I felt a heavy heart because I knew Voight and his tenacities, I knew what he was capable of; I watched him burry the guy that killed his son. I know the lengths he was willing to go to betray the rules, to go against the system. Did I know what i’d do if I found all the accusassions were true? No Because I had rebuilt my life when I left Chicago. I had a job I loved most days; working my way up the ladder.
But when this case fell into my hands; I wasn’t on the case but I saw the names “ Roy,” Intelligence investigate, I was intriged, I felt that itch to get involved. I had used my knowledge, my history in chicago to get ahead, and now I was required to hand over answers, but did that go against my own morals? It might have me drawing a line but I pegged I’d cross that bridge when it came to it. As for Jay; he was the one I thought about. The repuercussion if he got caught in the crosshair, he was probably Voight’s right hand man, but I did doubt the chance Jay would be open with me. I wasn’t even gonna attempt to seek him out. Not after I ghosted him. After I had taken a job and left. He was someone I cared about; not only my partner but a man I loved. Jay made me feel safe, he was home to me. But I couldn’t ask him to sacerfice his career his home in Chicago for me. Not with how strained our relationship already felt at the time.
But seeing him, how angry he was still. How hurt he was because of me, it made me feel sick to my stomach. I took each word like a gain of salt, I took each glance as if it didn’t affect me. But I was hurting myself because of how I treated him. I had regrets ones that surrounded him. But I had no right to reopen that wound, so when he left me at the bar I concerned our interaction done. I wasn’t going push; if we had to cross paths at the station we would, but I was going to give Jay the space he needed. I didn’t want to hurt him anymore, I wanted to talk, I wanted to fight it out but I kept my tongue shut.
The female intended to walk back to the hotel, one drink wouldn’t harm her. She wasn’t expected the ride she ended up taking, Jay’s truck his pride and joy of a truck, I didn’t know what more there was to say. I was here working on a case; attempting to help my old team in case they did end up involved in this mess, but I also wanted to see Jay; so yeah being in Chicago against all the rules I told myself when I left was thrown out the window. But I knew Jay wasn’t going to take my word of it; but honestly I didn’t blame in. Sitting in that seat eyes staring out the window, I didn’t know how I felt right now.
“ I know, Okay.” Two words I uttered because what could I say? Jay wasn’t wrong he had no reason to trust me, and if the roles were reversed I wouldn’t be so trusting either to someone that had hurt me. So I just sat back until we inched closer to the curb where I could pull myself out of the car. Voight; now that was one conversation I could work myself through no fear. “ The thing is Voight even if he tries to bullshit me he can’t, so I’m sure it’ll be an interesting one.” There was a reason why I was staying at a hotel and not with Voight; we barely spoke, just the simple exchanges of calls to check in every few months. The tough of my hand on his knee I felt it that spark, a hidden smile pulled at my features as I reached for the handle slowly stepping out onto the pavement. Tilting my head back to give Jay one last look as if it was the last time.
‘ Thanks for the ride, and It was good to see you Jay.” A real smile before the door closed. Ducking her head down to the pavements; Erin had walked the street to the sliding doors that allowed her inside, A bed; a nice place to stay; almost hidden from the rest of the world.

《Pairing: The Best Friends x Kelani White》
[]Summary: It was Easter weekend, Saturday of Collison. And Kelani gets up at 6:00am to a rather upsetting text message, but her early Easter present is to come.[]
[Kelani's POV:]
I'm returning to wrestling soon enough, but it's Easter weekend, I was getting ready for bed because I have to get up early tomorrow to help my Brother Jay and Sister Sophie with the Easter Ham.
I sat at the counter for a few moments, and started to fall asleep.
I was dreaming.. of what Trent and Chuck said a few weeks ago.. their words humming in my head like a bullet.
"If he ever treats you wrong, come see us. You'll be ours."
I was so Desperate for them, yet my boyfriend. Will Strong, Wouldn't even let me go grocery shopping (fucking jesus)
I decided to go in the group us wrestlers have and add Trent and Chuck to my Contacts.. in case Will goes off...
★– Next Morning –★
"WHERE ARE YOU YA FUCKING CUNT!" Will shouted, awakening me from my slumber..
I stayed silent... I couldn't speak, I couldn't fight back against this Asshole I call a boyfriend.. I don't wanna end up with a gash in my arm again...
"Hey.. how soon can you two get here?" "Pretty Soon why?" "Please Fucking hurry! My bf is going berserk and it's 7:00am.." "Oh shit. Me and Trent'll be there in a couple minutes, where ya at right now?" "Under my Goddamn Bed! I don't wanna get almost killed last time he fucking blew a fuse.." "Alright, Trent is already in the car. Stay put and silent. Be there in 5, Sweetheart"
The use of the nickname sweetheart, made my heart flutter a bit.. considering he'd never called me that before. But after I messaged Chuck. I shot my brother a text
"Jay, Soph and you are on your own.. Sorry but I'm hiding under my bed while police come to arrest Will, and I'm being picked up by a friend" "Jesus How the bloody fuck, do ya keeping agitating that asshole? Fucking break up with him"
I thought I was in the clear, until I heard some girl come over to my house. Her name was Patricia, she was William's side bitch.
Suddenly he was interrupted by Trent and Chuck. Who walked in and said a old friend asked if they could pick something up from the house, which that was me..
I was silently sobbing by the time Chuck found me, and they got me outside speedily..
"So, what's on the itinerary? Having sex until we drop?" Trent Teased.
I blushed heavily and tried to nod but my head was stilled aswell, I felt my cunt clench around nothing and I was so horny in that moment..
"I think she liked that idea Trent" Chuck Spoke loudly, snapping me out of my trance-like state
I only nodded. I couldn't speak, my pussy was fucking clenching like a vise grip. so this was my first fucking time because Will never fucked me until I passed out.
Sure it wasn't my first time, but I have a feeling my legs and pussy will sore by tomorrow morning.
I was so fucking horny at this point.
I sighed and tried to ignore the horny twins as we drove back to Chuck's place.
I scrolled through my phone deleting my photos with my Ex, I sent him one last message...
"Hey Will. We are Over, nothing either of us did. I am just tired of dating. So we're breaking up." "Do you assume I was cheating or something? Why are you breaking up with me? I wasn't FUCKING CHEATING!! COME BACK TO THE HOUSE RIGHT NOW SO I CAN TEACH YOU A LESSON YOU BITCH!"
I did... the one thing I could think of, I gave my phone to Chuck..
"Who in the actual fuck are you to tell her to come home? She's not a pet. She's not a slut. She's a human, like everyone else in the world you fucking asshole. And before you claim she's moved on in life. This is her Old friend. Chuck. So seriously go fuck off somewhere else you piece of shit cheater."
I panicked after he gave me my phone back.. seeing the whole ass paper he wrote on my phone, I knew I was gonna pay for this unless Trent Had turned off the air tag on my IPhone..
——————————🍄——————————
After we got to Chuck's House, I sat for a few moments. Trying to understand I broke free of my now ex-... wow it felt exhilarating..
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~❤️~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And this is how I now find myself, pinned down, Trent was fucking me at pace that was making me wanna cry. But between choked gasps and attempts to breathe I couldn't cry, because Chuck was literally making me almost gag around his cock.
"Such a good girl, taking us like this.." Chuck Groaned, before he came without warning.
After he pulled out of my mouth, I gasped..
Finally being able to breathe only for that breath to be cut off by me screaming as Trent then Came
"F-Fuck.." Trent Gasped
I exhaled and inhaled rapidly, a attempt to catch my breath.
I didn't want this I needed it...
My Legs were trembling, as they coaxed orgasm after orgasm out of me.. I felt like I was about to collapse at the 10th round.
This time, Trent invading my throat as Chuck fucked me at an even harder pace...
"Holy Fuck, do you think her ex will be mad? Since we've shown her an actual good sex life?" Trent Asked Chuck
As they both came with groans, I was beginning to fall asleep.
The amount of spit, I had in my mouth after Trent came made him hornier.
I was fucked out, quite literally fucked dumb.
I had called them both Daddy so.. many.. times... My tears made Chuck fuck me harder...
I had finally fell asleep after the 10th round
——————————🍄——————————
I woke up the next morning, to them making breakfast and me in One of Chuck's shirts.
My phone was also pinging off the Hook
"Holy Shit! HOLY SHIT! Girly! You didn't tell us you are dating Trent and Chuck! So glad you broke up with William!"
That was my little sister Sophie who'd messaged me, turns out. After I fell asleep, Trent and Chuck posted that I'd finally broken up with Will, and I was dating them.
Will had broke his phone, and his side chick's who'd he been giving my money to. Broke up with him. He is now super jealous and I don't really regret last night.
And I'm Terrified now, they said they wanna try some new shit tonight. My legs are gonna be soooooo sore tomorrow
"Good Mornin' Baby~" Chuck Spoke
"Good Morning.." I hummed still slightly Sleepy.
"C'mom, we'll get ya ready for breakfast. And most likely another nap." Chuck Spoke grabbing me one of my shirts from my bag, I was still in the bed at this point though.
He helped me out of the bed, helped me get dressed and we went downstairs to eat.
A/N: New Cody Fic in the works, sorry this took so long. I was gonna release it on Easter, but I was busy and then I was busy with babysitting my sister on Monday and Tuesday. I have to babysit on Friday and Saturday too. So don't panic if I don't post
My review on Varisudu movie
If you don’t know already I’m Indian and one of the things I like doing being Indian is watching the culture’s movies because oh my god they are fantastic so I was naturally hyped after Varisudu came on prime video it having Vijay sir and was really excited after seeing the first half of the movie because it looked really promising for us New generation kids as it seemed like it would acknowledge the problems with neglect/abuse how it hurt the family and how the siblings could mend their bonds as well as dealing with a peaceful divorce but I was horrified after finishing the movie.
First of the actors were good they did a great job as well as the songs and choreography those are probably the only reasons why you should watch this movie. But the plot theme and moral were horrible
What I dislike about this movie is mainly the family drama it is a really horrible depiction. This movie is trying to have the message that love conquers all and that you should forgive your family no matter what horrible things they’ve done and it’s sickening especially in this day and age where abuse and neglect is being exploited as no okay and this movies is just taking several leaps back from that accomplishment.
When we got the flashback of Vijay and how he left his house because his father undermined his accomplishments and his brother were obviously puppets because of the same or similar treatment from their father I was touched happy almost I thought we’d have a nice movie where we’d see the children accepting that just because your blood related doesn’t mean you have to love them and it’s a choice but noo we have to have a movie where it’s saying that hey I know that I emotionally neglected you and used you for my goals or hey I’m sorry I almost crushed you with a car or tried killing you but deep down I care about you. That is some bullshit right there.
Let’s go through all the problem together shall we
Rajendran kicked his son out for not complying with his ideals neglected his accomplishments and after one single fight let go of him not even thinking argument through or contacting his son in 7 years This man does all this and expects his youngest son to put up with his bs he never even thought of how he might be feeling or maybe that he himself was wrong or overreacted and even after knowing that he was dying he didn’t try rethinking his choices like he claims in the movie. Keep in mind after he allows his wife to host the celebration and Vijay comes home he doesn’t even spare a glance at his son he hasn’t seen in 7 years and goes off to do his other business. And doesn’t even apologize after Vijay returns for him saying that he might be wrong until the very end which in my case is very unacceptable.
Jai cheats on Aarthi slaps her when she confronts him about it, don’t try solving their issues and magically stop their divorce. Now this is just sad Jai cheated on Aarthi with no regrets they were both unhappy with this marriage and doesn’t feel bad when confronted about it. Yes he’ s worried when his daughter gets human trafficked but that’s because he is not a total doichebag. This would’ve been the perfect moments for him to apologize and him and Aarthi have a peaceful divorce but they still stay together knowing they have complications. And this is part Vijay’s fault to like he was fine with the divorce at first knowing that what his brother did was wrong but then his mother says “oh well I’m his mother so I can’t think like that” and wham Bam morals gone ma’am. I mean like really? I get it if you’re a little sentimental but he is completely forgetting his morals there he could’ve just left it at that letting the divorce happen because it was the right thing and his mother would have to learn to accept it because what her son did was wrong and he can’t fix that.
Ruining the characters If you pay attention to details closely like I do then you might’ve seen that in the beginning when Vijay came back to the house and put his stuff in his room Jai leaned on the door way making fun of him saying “Oh you make that big of a speech and come after 7 years for one phone call” then Vijay says “elder brother what big of a mistake did I do except leave this house?Do you know how much I’ve missed you in those seven years” and then Jai begins sympathizing because in reality he doesn’t truly hate his brother he’s also a neglected child who’s been used like a puppet and starts to sympathize saying “Hey don’t take those words to heart I was just saying that in anger we’ve missed you too-“ but before he can finish Vijay laughs and says he didn’t mean any of that but of course he did. No matter who you are it’s not easy living without love and affection and we had no indication throughout the movie that Vijay had developed close bonds while he was away. Vijay didn’t choose to not have love and support he chose to distance himself from a toxic relationship that would affect both his physical health and mental health badly and I respect him for that.
This movie is basically mocking Gen Z saying that they are wrong and making this as a go to guilt trip material for Indian parents to say “Oh see family always comes first” and shit like that. I especially hate the line where Vijay says “My dad will always be my first hero because even if he didn’t help me walk by holding my hand he reached me from afar”. What message is this giving? It’s saying abuse and neglect are okay your siblings assaulting you is okay and staying in a relationship that is clearly not working is okay.
This movie had great potential of catching the eye of the new generation which it clearly wanted to do.Do not watch this movie if you want good ideals or want to teach something to your child because this family drama has the wrong lessons instead watch something like Manam because in the movie Radha and Krishna’s divorce was caused by a misunderstanding and Radha was actually trying to heal their relationship before they died.
tell me about the way they talk about henry heywood sr. in the jsa 2007 run. tell me your thoughts about it pls. i know what he did generally but unfortunately i haven't read all of the comics with the second steel (the grandson he forced into the hero life).
@scarabaebutch: WAIT WAIT I JUST SAW THAT ADDITION WHEN THE FUCK DID THE OLD GUARD JSA BEAT THE HELL OUT OF HENRY SR. WHEN AND WHY WHAT-
banging my hands on the walls over and over i am so mad all the time about this
so some backstory is that henry heywood iii aka hank aka my best pal my sweet cheese my good time boy was raised by henry sr after his father died. while the exact details of hank's origin story has changed over the course of dc retcons*, what stays the same is that henry, in an effort to make hank "perfect," forced brutal medical operations on him (often without anesthesia) in order to turn him into a superhero like him. he also forced hank to join the justice league of america during their ill-fated detroit era. being essentially experimented on by his grandfather left hank with a lifetime of chronic pain, trust and anger issues, and trauma. he explicitly calls henry mad for it.
during crisis, henry sr goes further off the deep end and, in a full supervillain phase, joins mekanique the all-star squadron villain and tricks infinity inc by telling them that the JLA is evil and corrupted his grandson so that they'll attack JLA and give him the chance to take hank back and give him more forced surgeries. when infinity inc realizes this is stupid they call the JSA (original earth-2 jsa, the members we specifically see are the flash, wonder woman, hawkman, doctor fate, and doctor mid-nite) who show up to beat the shit out of henry before mekanique shows up to help him escape. he and hank have a brawl where hank nearly kills him and barely manages to stop himself.
fast forward to 2007 (past things like hank being fatally injured and henry sr, for some reason, being put in charge of his life support and ultimately turning it off). with nate's introduction, things go off the fucking rails.
you're at least familiar with nate's character, but one thing you may not remember is that a lot of his first scenes are about him thinking about how henry heywood sr presented himself as a superhero to his family and how hank was equally exalted by them for choosing to have the surgeries that turned him into steel. this is fine to me. henry would definitely lie about that, and it took hank awhile to admit that what had happened to him was wrong. but surely when the jsa shows up they'll set him straight, right? i mean, jay is in this run. jay was also there when henry showed his true colors. he tried to fight him in the name of protecting hank, the jla, and infinity inc from him.
nope! henry is described as a hero and the fact that he violently medically abused the grandson left in his care from when he was a very young child to when he was around seventeen--hank is described at one point as not yet being a man--is never Fucking mentioned to nate or anybody. i cannot stress enough that this is an integral aspect to his character and was written by the same person who created him (conway).
tl;dr: for some reason, henry sr's superhero identity, the one he used as an excuse to torture his grandson, is forced onto another one of his grandsons who explicitly does not want to be a superhero and quits the first chance he gets. the fact that the people putting this identity on nate also fought henry for being a horrible person is not brought up. this is never once interrogated or questioned by anyone in-universe and is deeply fucked up.
(*what is specifically retconned is whether or not hank "needed" the surgeries to improve his health and henry just took it too far; originally this was not the case but some writers have implied it. additionally, jla: classified retconned it so that dale gunn, hank's only parental confidante and protector, was a part of the abuse he suffered. i ignore this because it's stupid and directly contradicts previous canon where dale talks to himself about how horrified he was when he found out what henry had done--after specifically sending dale away so he couldn't stop him. (additionally, dale has since been retconned to be a gay man, which... puts him and hank's father being "war buddies" in a new light.))
Jason's Reality Check
I kinda wanna see Jason & several others get a bit of a reality check.
I've seen comments that Bruce trains kids as 'child soldiers' &??? The only child soldiers are Damien & Steph?? And they didn't become them because of Batman??
From what I recall, Dick, Jason, & Tim all insisted on vigilanteism. Like, Bats TRIED to get them to just stay home where it was safe, but they refused!
Like, what do people expect Bats to have done? Lock them in a dungeon & never let them out?
It's about a 50/50 that would've even worked & on the 50 chance that they did get out, they would've immediately started crime fighting again!
Or, should Bruce have just left them to their own devices, like "not my problem?" They would've either died trying to be heroes on their own & without guidence or grown up to hate the Bat even more for his apethy towards their problems.
Like, whether Jason, or anyone else, likes it or not, Bruce training them was a best case scenario.
All Batman did was try to heard them in the least dangerous direction that he could by giving them the tools to not die a horrible death.
Obviously, it didn't always work (i.e. Jason), but what does Jason expect Bruce to have done in his situation? What would've been the better alternative?
Honestly, I think the problem is that his anger is too big to pin onto just one person, but at the same time, he doesn't want to admit that he got himself into the situation that got him killed. Jason decided to chase after his birth mother without Bruce's aid. Jason went to Ethiopia. Yes, it happened because the Joker believed that there was some sort of connection between Todd & Batman, but how could Batman control that?
Like, I'm not saying that Jay doesn't have a legitimate right to be furiously angry at Bruce. I just think that he should focus on the things that the overgrown furry could actually control & did not handle correctly.
Like, the fact that he was hurt about Tim becoming Robin is understandable, but he didn't really have all the facts to understand the context surrounding Tim becoming Robin. Like the fact that Bruce was not functioning well without a Robin or that Tim refused to just stop when he was told to. There was more to the situation than what Jay was aware of.
At the same time, his arguments about Bruce not avenging him or burying him with the Wayne name. I can understand that & actually very much agree with him.
Batsy should've killed the Joker or, at least, walked away while Dick did it if he wasn't strong enough to do it himself.
But, he didn't. And I get not wanting your kid to have to walk around with that kind of guilt hanging over his head. I even get not wanting himself or his ward to become judge, jury, & executioner, but reviving the effing Joker went WAY too far.
At the same time, Jason also should've just killed the Joker the moment he got the chance to. Deciding to use the sack of shit to punish Bats was a dumbass idea. He should've shot his ass & then double, triple, & quadruple tapped, just to make sure.
Then, if he wan't to be a dramatic asshole, put the Joker's head on a pike in the most visited part of Gotham with a sign with some sort of literary quote. Something to the tune of "Hey ho, the Clown Prince is dead" or something with that sort of message.
As for the rest of the Joker's body? I'd suggest going the route of John Haigh. Just to be safe...
Gruesome, I know, but you know what? Whatever it takes to clean out the garbagio.
While her exterior as she delicately placed beetle shells in a display case may have been calm, Lisa-Marie was fuming on the inside. She somehow managed to keep her focus on the task before her while also agonizing over the previous night—as if her brain could carry two different trains of thought at once.
She couldn’t believe Brandon had told someone about Lamar. After everything she’d done to ensure they were never caught.
He said he felt guilty.
So what?
Did he assume she didn’t?
It sucked knowing she’d inadvertently killed someone.
She was sick over it but the fact of the matter was that Lamar was dead. They weren’t. And she wasn’t about to forfeit their lives over an accident. A mistake. One that anyone could have made.
She blew some stray hair out from in front of her work glasses in frustration. Her husband was weak. She’d always known it but she had hoped in a time of crisis like this, he would have stepped up to the plate.
Instead, he’d blown everything and told Dominique Pulmer.
That man was already suspicious of Lisa-Marie—he didn’t hide it well—and now he had the perfect excuse to blame everything on her.
She’d called him last night and this morning. He didn’t pick up either time.
Her mind opened a third avenue of thought as she continued her project. Her memory from last night.
Brandon’s tear stained face as he confessed that he’d told Dominique everything. Lisa-Marie’s brain played the moment on a loop as if to just stoke the flames of her rage.
“How could you tell him?!” she’d screamed at him, “You absolute BAFOON!”
Brandon shook his head. “I couldn’t hide it any longer! Dom knew something too—he would have kept coming over here until he got to the bottom of it!”
It was the flimsiest excuse she’d ever heard in her life. “Please,” she rebutted in a low growl, “You were looking for a chance to get this off your chest. You could never keep secrets.”
“It’s really not that,” Brandon countered and tried to close the gap between them.
Lisa-Marie pushed him away. “Don’t touch me.”
Her husband all but pouted which did nothing but irritate her. “Babe, I had to tell him something.”
“You didn’t have to tell him we killed Lamar,” she snapped.
Brandon looked down at his feet and his shoulders drooped. He looked like a kicked puppy but Lisa-Marie felt no sympathy for him.
He’d screwed them. And she had to get to work on fixing his mistake as soon as possible. Even if she doubted that Dom would act right away, she wanted to have something ready by the morning.
She’d need to convince Dom not to say anything or, at the very least, admit to the fact that the death wasn’t on purpose. And, for that, she’d have to go over to his house.
There was a pretty good chance that he wouldn’t let her in. She knew that. But she could be persuasive if she had to be. And if he wanted to shut her out then she could stoop to less than honorable methods of getting his attention.
Most of the night had been spent yelling at Brandon but once she’d grown tired and her throat had gone hoarse, she sat down at the computer and did some research.
Finding out personal information was quite easy if one knew where to look.
Like, Bianca’s full name and what school she went to.
Lisa-Marie didn’t want to utter his daughter’s name but if she was pushed, she would. And if that didn’t get him to let her inside then she wasn’t sure what would.
At that point, she’d offer him something he’d have a hard time refusing like a hefty sum of money. They would discuss the price of his silence and she would promise him payments as well as anything needed to sweeten the deal. Perhaps she’d even take time to write up a document and make him sign it.
It wouldn’t be law binding but maybe he wouldn’t know that.
A smile tugged at her lips as she secured the top of the display case and took a step back. She removed her glasses and admired her handiwork.
It wasn’t anyone who could complete an art project while plotting something as complex as bribery, she thought and let out a small chuckle.
She closed up her collection room and headed for the front door, ready to put a stop to all of this once and for all. If she knew Dominique even a fraction of how much she hoped she did, she knew he would take time to logic his way through the best option before acting. So he probably hadn’t told anyone about what he learned.
Lisa-Marie threw her front door open but immediately ran into a roadblock.
Before her, in his overly decorated uniform, was a man she hated more than anyone or anything. His mustache had grayed in his old age but he still looked like she last remembered. Those dark eyes full of distaste and disappointment stared down at her as if she was still a disobedient child.
“What are you doing here?” she spat.
“I’ve brought a few officers. We have reason to check your house,” her father answered with a monotone voice, giving no hint to his emotional state. It was something she always especially despised about him.
Her brow furrowed and she huffed. “On what grounds?!”
“On the grounds that you killed Lamar Vick and might have killed those other people as well.”
She gripped the threshold to her house with white knuckles. “You can’t! You need a warrant!”
Her father sighed and reached into the breast of his suit. He pulled out a folded piece of paper and showed her the signature on the bottom. “We got a judge to sign it this morning.” He frowned. “Please move out of the way, Lisa.”
“You know I hate it when you call me that,” Lisa-Marie responded as tears started to prickle at her eyes. She stepped back as officers began to make their way inside against her wishes.
“Rodgers, Stiller, Jones—you three take a look around; Morgan, you come with me to the back.” Her father gestured to one of the men in particular.
“Yes, chief Hampton,” they responded, almost in unison.
Lisa-Marie gaped. “Y-you! What do you mean the back?”
Her father gave her a sideways look and, for a moment, she thought he would just stay silent and ignore her. But, he actually answered, “The tip told us exactly where Lamar is. The house search is just to look for more evidence on the other cases.”
She shook her head and beat them to the backyard where she planted herself in front of the rose bushes. “You can’t!” she yelled, “You can’t dig up my roses! They’re…ugh—they’re endangered!”
He shook his head in exasperation. “Lisa, stop. If you don’t…I’ll have one of my men arrest you.”
“But I…” Lisa-Marie’s lip quivered as she was pushed aside. There had to be something she could do, she kept repeating in her head. Something. “Where’s Redfield?”
“Off duty,” her father answered as Officer Morgan joined him with a shovel. “I’m arranging to get him transferred at the least…suspended at the most.”
“What?! He’s been the only help through this whole thing! You can’t do that!”
He looked over at her with narrowed eyes. “He’s helped you. Not the case. Because of him, more people have died. And you’re responsible too.”
They went to work on digging up under the bushes and Lisa-Marie wasn’t sure what more she could do. Her shoulders sank and her brain struggled to function properly. Usually, she was quick to manifest a solution but her mind remained frozen in place as her father and Officer Morgan dug up her roses.
Morgan spoke up after a moment, “Chief Hampton, I think I found what we’re looking for.”
Lisa-Marie watched with unblinking eyes as the police officer revealed Lamar’s arm from under the dirt. She stepped away and started to shake her head.
This wasn’t happening.
“Chief!” Another officer called out from the backdoor. He waved them down. “We found something…you might want to grab your daughter first though.”
Her father reached over to her reluctantly and she pulled away before he could touch her. “I’ll follow you,” she promised. “Just don’t put your hands on me.”
He sighed but took her word for it. Morgan stayed behind to continue unearthing Lamar while they walked to the house. Lisa-Marie looked around at the state of things as she passed through the rooms.
The cabinets in the kitchen were all open with dishes and cups just tossed around recklessly. What were they even expecting to find in there? She wondered.
The living room was even worse with the TV knocked over and the couch turned on it’s side. There was even a curtain rod on the floor somehow. She swore she hadn’t been outside long enough for such destruction to take place.
Her nerves stood on end when she noticed the door to her collection room was also open. Before her father could stop her, she walked closer to see the jars and containers shattered—including the project she’d just finished.
“What the hell?!” she snapped and turned back to the officer—Jones, she believed. “Is this really necessary?! Ugh, where is Brandon?!”
“Please keep following us,” Jones instructed and waved her back over. He at least didn’t try to grab her like her father did so she stayed closer to his side.
They passed by the guest room and bath as they headed into the master bedroom. She expected to find Brandon there in shambles, surrounded by the other officers and probably in the middle of a confession but he was nowhere to be found. The two officers just stood off to the side and looked away from Lisa-Marie when she walked into the room.
It was strange but she didn’t have much time to linger on it. She was urged to walk into the attached bathroom so she did without any further resistance.
Time slowed to a snail’s pace as she took in the scenery. It wasn’t as wrecked as the rest of the house and, in fact, everything seemed strangely untouched. As she turned, she soon realized why—and why she’d been brought up there in the first place.
In the bathtub, just like how they found Mrs. Winter, lied Brandon.
Several red lines wrapped around his neck and his eyes were bloodshot and bulging open. It was as if he’d just been killed and thrown into the bath moments ago.
Lisa-Marie raised her hands to her face and screamed, unable to hold it back anymore.
She’d seen three dead bodies before but this was different. Even if everything about him looked the same as Susan and Mrs. Winter, it didn’t feel the same to her stomach at all.
“Brandon…” she gasped as her body started to shake in the shock of it all.
“Lisa, what did you do?” Her father’s voice broke her out of her state and she quickly snapped her head over to him.
“You think I did this?!”
“No one else has been in the house,” he calmly explained, “Unless he managed to do this to himself…”
She shook her head and pushed past him. Some of the officers tried to grab her but she slipped past each of them. She couldn’t be in the house anymore. She couldn’t take all the pressure and accusations.
Before her father could drag her to jail, she had to unmask the real killer.
Whether they killed everyone as well, she didn’t know, but there was only one person who could have killed Brandon.
That was what her gut screamed at her.
Lisa-Marie burst from her front door and ran straight to the Burns’ house. She pounded on the front door frantically and screamed, “Meet me at the second cul-de-sac!”
She did the same in front of the Jung’s, Rosello’s, and Mabel’s house. Behind her, she could see and hear the families slowly emerging in confusion. They did begin to follow her, however, so she kept running.
There was no reason to stop by the Vick’s or by Mrs. Winter’s place so she only had five houses to approach. And she ended on who she knew killed Brandon.
“Dominique—GET OUT HERE!”
Dead Clown 🤡
Jason todd x reader
Warning: smut, murder but it’s okay.
Jason pulled his helmet off and ignored the rain that poured down his face. He had to see this without a filter. He even considered taking off the domino mask but he was out in the open. The pouring freezing rain had him shivering but Jason was unaware. He literally couldn’t believe the sight before him.
The joker was laying in his back, the pasty skin on his forehead was marred by 2 small holes. The back of his stupid green hair looked almost black when mixed with blood. Blood and water mixed in a pink puddle around his head. Jason forced himself to check for a pulse before hitting his comms.
“Bats, you need to get down here,” he said in a shocked voice. “The joker is dead.”
“..... are you okay,” Bruce said in a measured voice.
“I’m fine. He was dead when I got here,” Jason added knowing he was number one suspect.
“On the way.”
Batman and Red Robin showed up shortly with Robin not far behind. It didn’t take long for the detectives to believe Jason’s innocence. The evidence didn’t match him.
Jason sat on a piece of concrete near the scene as they worked. He had hoped to see this for years now. But it wasn’t the same. Maybe it was because Jason didn’t get his revenge or because it looked too neat. Two quick shots to the brain. Probably didn’t even see it coming before he was lights out.
Bruce walked over to him as the other two took photos and bagged evidence. A little blood here. Some fabric fibers there. No fingerprints because of the heavy rain but a bullet casing.
“Did you see who shot him?”
“No B. I literally got here and he was already out. He was supposed to have a drug drop but I guess that didn’t happen,” Jason said with a shrug.
“You were going to fight him alone,”Bruce said with a raised brow.
“No. Just reconnaissance. I would have called it in,” Jason defended himself. Bruce gave him a side look before moving on to the case.
“Commissioner Gordon is on the way,” Tim said. He held bags of evidence carefully in his lanky fingers. “We’re finish collecting-“
“Can we go home, father? It’s freezing cold,” Damian interrupted. Bruce sighed before looking at him.
“Red Robin was talking but yes, you both should back to the cave to process everything. Red Hood, you too. The commissioner knows you have a history with the joker so it’s best you leave too. I’ll take care of this,” Bruce said carefully. Any wrong word might set Jason off with his trauma over the death of his murderer.
“Uh yeah, sure man,” Jason said clearly distracted. He would usually argue with everything Bruce said and this made Bruce even more worried for the young man. He sent a quick message to Dick before the commission met got there.
——————————
“We’re running the tests right now and there really isn’t much else to do. Robin already went to bed. Go home Hood and get some sleep,” Tim said by the computers. Jason hadn’t bothered to get out of his suit or shower.
“How long? How long until you get results?”
“Oh, uhhh maybe 12 hours? A while. Sorry DNA testing isn’t like in the movies. The meta or clone tests are even longer. It probably won’t be until tomorrow night that we know anything,” Tim said turning in his chair. “Get some sleep.”
Jason considered giving him a nasty comment but held it. He certainly felt dead on his feet and had a nice warm woman waiting at home for him.
“Call when you know anything,” he said with a growl.
“Yeesh, yeah. I will,” Tim said backing away. “Say it. Don’t spray it,” he muttered as Jason walked away.
———————————
Jason trudged into the apartment leaving wet clothing in his wake until he stumbled to bed in nothing but his boxer briefs. You were going to be mad at him for the mess in the morning but that could wait. He looked at you asleep on the bed. You looked so sweet and innocent. Like an angel compared to his dirty hands that practically dripped blood every night.
He slid under the blanket and pressed close to your warm form. You gasped awake before relaxing when you realized it was just Jason. Did you not realize he could kill you 84 different ways in your sleep? It didn’t really matter as you snuggled your head into the crook of his neck and slid your legs to entangle with his. Jason’s arms automatically wrapped around you and rubbed your back until your breathing was even in sleep. He stared at the ceiling until the hint of dusk could be seen outside.
Jason woke with a gasp followed by a moan as he felt perfect wet heat encompass his dick. He looked down to see the blankets move rhythmically as you slid your mouth along his dick. He blinked himself more awake to truly enjoy it.
It wasn’t the first time you had woken him as such but it was certainly a rare occurrence. Reserved for birthdays and Christmas, he couldn’t imagine what he did to deserve such a wonderful wake up.
“Fuck! Princess,” he groaned as you swirled before taking him deep. You hummed questionably.
“What did I, mmmm, do to deserve such a fuck! Perfect mouth. Perfect wake up,” he said pushing covers down to show you between his legs. You looked up at him with big innocent eyes as you licked long hot strips up his cock. You took him deep in your mouth before sliding off with a pop.
“I can’t spoil you?” You purred and he twitched. How did he get so lucky? “Do you want to finish in my mouth or can I ride you first?” You asked and he god honest choked on his spit.
“Baby, *cough* whatever you want, what. Ever. you want,” he said and you grinned before climbing up his body to straddle him. His hands ran along the side of your body before gripping your hips. You sunk down on him with a little mewl.
“Fuck Princess, you’re so wet. Do you like... do you like sucking my cock?” He asked breathlessly.
“Of course, Jaybird. Sometimes I touch myself when I blow you, like today,” you admitted with a sweet little giggle. He almost came right them. How could you say the dirtiest things while being the sweetest person he’d ever known?
Jason reached his thumb down to rub your clit as you moved. You whined before nodding at him. Your mouth fell open and your hips sped up. He knew that you weren’t going to last long. You really did get hot and bothered blowing him. You made little whined and whimpers before moaning his name loudly as you came. Your body clenching on him was enough and he thrust up into you as he came as well. You bent down and kissed him deeply. Jason was panting by the time you pulled back.
“Loved that for sure, but what the hell was that, Princess,” Jason asked breathlessly as you climbed off and threw on some clothing. You chuckled a little before tossing him his boxers.
“Just wanted to wake you up this morning. Do you want some pancakes, Jay,” you asked. He sat up and pulled them on.
“You certainly did. And I never say no to food. Especially my favorite food,” Jason said with a grin. “Is it secretly my birthday? Am I dying and you’re prepping me beforehand?”
You laughed. “You already did that, baby.”
Jason gasped a little before laughing.
“I just wanted to treat you like you deserve. Pick a movie. There’s a new slasher out that you can tear apart,” you said walking in the kitchen and grinned at Jason’s heart eye look he gave you.
He looked through the movies without paying them much mind. He’d seen the joker dead the day before and now his girlfriend was spoiling him. He didn’t know what to think about. He’d think about the joker finally being dead. He couldn’t hurt Jason or those near him any more. You’d been kidnapped 6 months earlier and it had almost ripped Jason apart when he found you bloody and beaten. Luckily alive though.
Then he thought about how sweet you were. A perfect angel who had nothing to do with that life. You couldn’t kill someone if you tried. He just wanted to keep you in an innocent bubble, especially after being kidnapped.
“Jay? Jason?” You said near him and he jumped. He had been so lost in thought that he didn’t notice you coming over to him with a plate of food. Heart shaped pancakes covered in whipped cream stared up at him and Jason had a little grin on his face.
“Sorry, thanks. This looks good,” he said and you grinned before sitting with your own. Jason turned on a movie and sat next to you to eat.
Jason’s phone rang.
He gave you an apologetic look before answering.
“Yeah,” he answered before quickly standing up to talk in another room. Definitely bat business, it sounded like. He came back in a few minutes putting on his suit. He bent and shoved most of a pancake in his mouth. Jason pulled you to your feet and swirled you around before holding you by the waist. You giggled.
“What’s gotten into you?”
“I’ve got to work. But when I get back, I’m making up for this morning, okay? Breakfast was amazing,” he said before pulling you into a dizzying kiss. You nodded before he left.
——————————
Jason arrived at the cave and realized something was instantly wrong. Tim, Dick, Damian, Bruce, and even Alfred were waiting for him around the computers. He slowly walked up. They didn’t think he did it, did they? Jason looked around in case of a fight.
“I have some bad news,” Dick said. Jason just stared at him. Dick sighed. “We know who killed the joker. You won’t like it. You- you might want to sit down.”
Jason frowned at his tone. It was the tone you used when telling a kid their parents died. He looked at the computer to see surveillance footage of the roof where he found the joker. He clenched his fist as the mad man walked in the screen.
“You know, this is the worst meeting place in the world,” joker said with a laugh. Jason’s eyebrows rose. He hasn’t expected audio. “So what do you have that I might want on the birds?”
A female voice off camera could be heard saying, “peace of mind.”
“Doubt you could give me that Princess,” he said in a mocking tone. His posture was casual even though the lower half of a woman’s body had walked into the screen and she held a gun in hand pointed at him. She froze at his words.
Jason couldn’t look away if he wanted to.
“Yeah, I know,” joker said. “I forget faces. Too many changing and quite a few people are a little two faced,” he said with a laugh. “But I never forget a voice. You sounded so much more sweet when you were crying tied to a chair. And the way you sobbed when I brought out the crowbar.... music to my ears. I bet it just reminded you of a certain bird that just didn’t quite make it the first time.”
“Shut up. I- I don’t care,” she said. Jason’s heart was in his throat. He knew exactly who that was before Tim’s DNA tests were complete. She moved around a little nervously.
“Honey, Princess,” he said drawn out in a mock of Jason’s voice. “Unless you plan on using that gun, put it down and we can play a game. You like games? You play one with the red bat all the time. Does he know? Does he know that you’ve been hunting me for.... geez, since you were kidnapped I’d bet.”
“Now drop that gun and I show you what pain really feels like,” he growled and she shot him in the forehead before he moved. He made a disconnected sound before falling to his knee, perfect height to be seen in the camera. She shot him again between the eyes and he fell back silently. His body splashed on the rainy roof before blood began to pool behind his head. The woman looked for a second, her body language painfully stiff, before running out the way she came.
The cave was silent as Jason realized what he just saw. He blinked a few times before clearing his throat. Has she- did she-??
“I assume the DNA matches?” He asked and Tim nodded before sliding him a paper copy. 98% match. Only chance it wasn’t you was an evil twin or clone but no, he noticed the clothing and mannerisms. It was you.
“Are you going to bring her in?” Bruce asked quietly and Jason gaped.
“I sure as shit ain’t. She killed the man who kidnapped her and abused her. That sounds like self defense to me,” he defended. Dick looked at him in pity and Jason quickly looked away.
“It was premeditated, Jason,” Bruce reminded him.
“I know. I’ll take care of it. She’s not going to prison. I’ll talk to her,” he said. Bruce gave him a hard look. “You come near her- I swear to god, Bruce. I’ll shoot you myself.”
Jason got up to leave. Dick moved out of his way. He wasn’t getting in this.
“Jason,” Bruce said but Jason was already gone.
——————————
Jason was a pretty smart guy but he was completely shocked at this moment. What possessed you to kill the joker? To seek him out? A man that tried to kill you and you were willing to meet him alone? Not even Jason wanted to do that. And that morning you were treating Jason special. He thought for a second that you killed the joker for him. It chilled him to the bone but he put that thought out of his head. No, you had your own reasons to do it.
Jason walked in the apartment cautiously. Who knows how you would be acting, the perfect girlfriend or finally breaking down when you realized you killed a man. He found you in the bedroom asleep. You didn’t look like you had just killed someone and for a second Jason had doubt but the video and DNA didn’t lie.
He crawled in bed with you. You pulled him close and laid your head on his chest and Jason’s heart hurt. You looked fine but killing people left scars and your first time killing someone was not something you forget.
You woke with a gasp and cry hours later. You trembled and grasped at Jason tightly. He woke up confused before pulling you closer.
“Hey, Princess, I’m right here. You’re okay,” he said rubbing your back and holding you close. “What’s going on?”
“I see him. When I sleep. Every time,” you breathed almost in tears. Jason kissed your cheek and he felt wetness on your skin. You had been crying. He didn’t want to ask but now was as good a time as any.
“Princess, what did you do last night?” Jason asked so quietly. You looked up at him quickly and it confirmed everything he needed to know.
“Nothing. I was here. All night. Wh-why?” You asked, lying terribly. Jason sighed. He closed his eyes before willing himself to speak.
“You know I’m a detective. I can tell that you’re lying,” Jason started gently.
“What does that mean,” you said a little too quickly. Your breathing started to speed up again and Jason hated the look of fear on your face.
“I’m not mad. I won’t turn you in. Just tell me what happened,” he said softly, watching you intently. You wanted to shrink away a little.
“I can’t,” you whispered. Your eyes started to water and you blinked them away.
“Did you do it? Did you kill him? I can help you,” Jason said and you froze. “Talk to me.”
“I-I did,” you said looking at him in terror. Your eyes were red rimmed. “I did.”
“I’m sorry,” he said pulling you tight to his body. You broke down in little sobs and clung to him. “I’m so sorry that you thought you had to. I should have. I’m sorry.” He wrapped you up and made little shhh noises and you cried until you fell back asleep.
You woke up later with a pounding headache wrapped up tightly against Jason. He was on his phone but sat it down when he saw you were up.
“Hey,You don’t have to worry about it. I’ve taken care of everything,” he said ever so gently. You nodded.
“What does that mean?” You asked slowly.
“Red Hood took the wrap on it. No great loss with one less psycho in Gotham. Harley Quinn had an impromptu parade with hyenas and jugglers and everything. Nightwing made an appearance. Dick said Barbie slept through the night for the first time in months and she said she’d help you with anything you need,” Jason said trying to be positive. You gave him a dry smile.
“That’s nice. What about- what about Batman?” You asked.
“He’s Batman. But he’ll get over it. And the next time you kill a murderous clown, let me help. He could have killed you. And if anyone knows how to hide a body, it’s me,” Jason said giving you a squeezing hug. You smiled despite yourself.
“I’ll remember that. I’m a little sad I missed the hyena parade,” you admitted.
“Oh she’s having a parade every day this week. An anonymous donor gave her a ton of fireworks. Fairly certain it was Tim,” Jason said.
Taking Chances Chapter Seven: Trying for Normal (Gifts)
“You can not honestly tell me you are thinking of announcing that girl as your daughter.” Damian says, his scowl deeper than Dick had seen it in a while.
“‘That girl’ has a name, Little D. Plus she’s your sister.” Dick says, resisting the urge to nudge him. They had gotten to the point where a small nudge wasn’t a death sentence, but Damian was on edge. And a small nudge would probably not be appreciated.
“I do not care what her name is, Grayson. Since coming to Gotham she has been involved in two separate Rogue attacks. She is suspicious at best, and a nuisance at worst.” He replies, crossing his arms.
“Enough, Damian. Marinette is not a nuisance. She simply has bad luck.” Bruce says, obviously trying to defend his daughter.
“And poor self-preservation skills. Talking back to the Joker? Snarking the Riddler? For an individual with no combat training, she gets much too involved in attacks. It is idiotic.” Damian argues, shaking his head.
“It might have something to do with the Paris situation. She said she’s been at attacks before, so she must have some experience with villains. And from what I read on the Ladyblog, none of the damage in Paris lasts. She just may not realize how dangerous it is for her to do here what she would do in Paris. We just need to warn her, or, at least remind her, that Gotham is a dangerous place.” Dick says, thinking back to her reaction to the Riddler and the Joker. She was definitely more tense with the Joker, despite the fact that both villains had arrived with armed goons. Maybe she thought the Riddler was less likely to kill someone, not true. Or maybe she- Dick frowns as he remembers a key difference between the attacks.
“I just realized something.” He says with a frown.
“Care to share with the rest of the room, Dickiebird?” Jason asks, strolling in and flopping onto a chair.
“She was more tense at the attack with the Joker, she seemed to understand that it was a dangerous situation. Sure, she talked back to him, but she didn’t try to fight back or anything. But at the attack with the Riddler, he wasn’t even targeting her at first. He was targeting the boy she’d been talking to. And she was more reckless, and then she fought back. She fought well, but it was still super dangerous.” Dick rambles, pacing as he explains the predicament.
“Is there a point to this? I feel like I walked in at the wrong time.” Jason calls out from his chair, feet propped up on the table in front of him.
“My point, Jay, is that Marinette has a crush.” Dick says, shuddering at the word like it’s something disgusting. (It is, his sister is too young for crushes and boyfriends).
“Is that why she ran off with him right after the attack?” Jason asks with a smirk. Dick feels his eyes practically shoot out of his head.
“She what!?” He yells, running over to the Batcomputer to look at the security footage from the wax museum. Spots that were targeted frequently, like the wax museum, had their security footage directly linked to the Batcave. Just in case of an emergency or in case an attack happened and they needed an extra set of eyes.
“I’m sure she didn’t do anything that you wouldn’t do.” Jason teases, and Dick pales.
“Shut up, Jason!” He moans, his typing turning frantic as he scrolls through the day’s footage. He stops when he gets to the moments after the battle. When the phones of the French students had all gone off. Frowning, he watches as his sister runs up to the boy and grabs his hand, leaning in and whispering to each other before the two run out of the room. Towards the bathrooms. Oh hell no. Dick scrolls forwards, frowning when they don’t come out in five minutes. Or ten minutes. Huffing, he switches to the cameras aimed at the exits. Surely one of the cameras had to catch the pair leaving the museum. He rewinds it and watches, but...there’s nothing. They don’t leave the bathrooms and they don’t leave the museum. For the rest of the day.
“Has anyone been in contact with her since the attack?” Bruce asks from right beside him, making him jump out of his seat with a yelp.
“I don’t even have her number.” Dick says, resisting the urge to glare at his adoptive father. He might’ve had Marinette’s number had Bruce actually acted like he wanted her to be there for dinner the other day. Instead, he practically ignored her and she left. And now she was missing. Definitely missing, because she never came out of the bathroom at the museum.
“Hello, Marinette? Yes, I apologize for calling so suddenly. I was- yes. Yes, I did hear about the attack….yes, that was part of the reason I was calling. I was wondering if you would like to come to dinner at the manor. You could bring your friend, Adrien Agreste, I believe was his name. Of course. Yes. Oh no, I’ll send a car. No, no I assure you it- Marinette please. Taxis aren’t always safe after dark. Thank you. Yes, I- we’ll see you then. Goodbye.” Bruce hangs up, and Dick looks at him, raising an eyebrow.
“Just gonna suddenly invite her and her boy toy to dinner, B? What’re you gonna do, interrogate them?” He asks frowning.
“That’s the second time that Marinette has ran off after that alarm. I’ve seen videos of the situation in Paris and I’m concerned. Now go upstairs and act normal. I want all of you on your best behaviors at dinner. Damian, better than best please. No weapons.” Bruce directs before leaving the room, presumably to ask Alfred to pick up Marinette. Dick sighs and looks at his brothers.
“Well this isn’t going to be a disaster or anything.” He says. --- “Tikki this is going to be a disaster!” Marinette whines, throwing herself face first onto the bed. She tries to ignore Tikki’s amused giggle. This was not funny. This was dinner with her family that she hadn’t made a great impression on the first time. And Adrien was invited, and she wasn’t sure where the two stood but she was sure that if Dick was at dinner, he would just push Adrien farther away from her.
“I could practically hear your suffering from Adrien’s room, pigtails.” Plagg says, making Marinette sit up and glare at the Kwami.
“Are you just here to mock me?” She asks, pouting. He snorts.
“No, I’m here to tell you the kid’s on his way over here. I told him you were panicking and he practically ran out his door.” Plagg says with a chuckle. Rapid knocking on the door makes him laugh more before dropping onto the bed next to Tikki. Marinette sighs, rolling off the bed and pulling the door open, jumping forward in time to catch Adrien before he completely falls to the ground.
“Are you okay? Plagg said you were panicking, did something happen?” He asks quickly, looking her up and down. Marinette blinks, slightly taken aback by his sudden concern. It was nice, but still a lot all at once. Shaking her head, she gestures for him to come in and shuts the door behind him. Walking back over to the bed, she once again face plants and groans.
“She’s nervous because Mr. Wayne invited the two of you to dinner.” Tikki chirps, giggling when Marinette lifts her head up enough to glare at her.
“Traitor.” She says, dropping her head back down.
“If you don’t want me to go with Marinette, I won’t.” Adrien says. Marinette immediately jumps up, shaking her head rapidly.
“No, no that’s not what I meant. I just- I’m nervous about actually sitting through a dinner with them. And I’m pretty sure Dick will try and sit between us and glare at you like he did at the museum.” She admits, cursing the way her cheeks heat up. Adrien raises an eyebrow.
“He was glaring at me?” He asks, utter confusion on his face. Marinette groans, dropping her head into her hands.
“Sometimes your obliviousness is cute-”
“You think I’m cute!”
“But right now, it’s kinda making me want to scream into my pillow.” Marinette admits, giving him her signature “not amused” look. A look she usually saves for when Chat Noir is making a pun.
“Wait, why wouldn’t Dick like me?” Adrien asks, thankfully stuck on that now instead of the fact that she thinks he’s cute.
“Um, maybe because we were holding hands? Did you really not notice how he kept standing in between us the entire time we were at the museum?” Marinette asks, suddenly unsure if she’d imagined the whole thing.
“Oh no, I did. I just didn’t think it meant he didn’t like me. I’ve never really dealt with siblings before. I mean, I’ve met Nino’s little brother but...that’s about it.” Adrien says, nervously rubbing the back of his neck. Marinette sighs, grinning softly.
“I don’t really have a lot of experience either, so maybe I was just imagining things.” She admits. Adrien’s shoulders instantly relax and she smiles. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad.
“So, did you want me to come with?” He asks after a moment of silence. Marinette nods, agreeing immediately.
“Please. I don’t think I can go back there alone, not yet anyway.”
“Of course, Mari. Now, what’re you wearing?” --- The ride to Wayne Manor wasn’t as quiet as her first, with Adrien making quiet jokes and saying things to try and help keep Marinette out of her head. She was thankful that he had come with, because she was definitely going to need the emotional support to get through dinner. The car stops and Marinette sucks in a deep breath. Smoothing out her skirt nervously, Marinette glances at the small, neatly wrapped package sitting between her and Adrien. It was something she had started back when she first found out she was adopted. And that her parents didn’t know her bio dad. A scrapbook with copies of everything important from her life: baby pictures, school pictures, birth announcement, report cards, clippings from newspapers where she had won or placed in contests, pictures of her early designs and recent designs, pictures of certificates and trophies from various competitions and activities. Basically a road map of her life to be given to her bio dad so that he could get to know her. She’d written her name on the front page, with the words “daughter of Bruce Wayne and Bridgette Le” underneath. A sort of amendment to her birth announcement which listed her as the daughter of Tom and Sabine Dupain Cheng. And while she definitely was their daughter, she also wanted Mr. Wayne to know that she wanted to be his daughter too. Not just by blood, which isn’t the important part. No, she wanted to get to know him and for him to get to know her. Pushing down the intruding thoughts insisting that it was too soon and that he didn’t want her in the first place, she opens the car door and steps out, clutching the package to her chest like a safety blanket.
“Would you like me to take that for you, Miss Marinette?” Alfred asks, glancing at the package.
“Oh, no thank you Alfred. It’s for my da- er, um, Mr. Wayne. I can hang onto it.” She says with a bright smile. She could do this. Sure, it didn’t go great the last time she was here. And she was pretty sure Mr. Wayne’s youngest son could kill her and wanted to kill her. But it was fine. Everything is fine. Walking through the front door, her shoulders relax slightly when she sees Dick is the only one standing there waiting for them.
“Marinette! He cheers, rushing forward and picking her up in a hug. As in, legitimately picking her up. Okay then.
“Good to see you too.” She says, trying not to show that he’s literally suffocating her with the hug.
“Good to see you again, Dick!” Adrien says cheerfully. Marinette feels Dick tense before setting her down, his smile less bright as he looks at Adrien.
“And you. Adrien, right?” He asks, sticking his hand out for a handshake.
“Yup!” Adrien says cheerfully. Marinette watches cautiously, noticing that Dick seems to be squeezing a little too hard….and then Adrien appears to match his strength, if the look on Dick’s face is anything to go by. Marinette coughs to hide a snort, her face heating up as both boys turn to look at her.
“Uh, is it just you and Mr. Wayne tonight?” Marinette asks, choosing to ignore their awkward handshake.
“Nope! It’s me and Bruce and Alfred, of course, and Jay and Tim and Damian and Cass. Steph’s not in town and Babs is having dinner with her dad.” Dick says, and Marinette’s eyes widen. There were a lot more people in her bio dad’s family than she thought. She knew about the boys, but she hadn’t seen anything about Cass, Steph or ‘Babs’.
“I didn’t realize I had sisters too.” She says instead of voicing her insecurities. Before she only had the boys to measure up against, now she had three girls too?
“Well, the only official sister is Cass. Steph used to date Tim and she just kinda stuck around. She’s practically family at this point. And Babs and I used to date, but again, she stuck around after and now she’s practically family.” Dick explains with a grin and a shrug. Cause having your exes around isn’t awkward. Or, maybe it isn’t. She doesn’t have any exes to compare it to. Just as she starts to get lost in her thoughts, she feels Adrien brush against her gently. Reminding her that he’s there, for her, giving her the strength she needs to follow Dick into the living room. Where everyone else was sitting. Oh boy.
“Marinette, so glad you could join us. And Mr. Agreste, nice to see you again.” Bruce says, standing from his spot and moving to shake Adrien’s hand.
“You as well, M. Wayne. And please, call me Adrien. Mr. Agreste is my father.” He says, and Marinette can just barely see his wince. His father always had been his least favorite subject, no matter how much or how little they spoke of him.
“Thanks for inviting us.” Marinette says, moving the package so that she’s no longer clutching it like a lifeline. Holding it out to Mr. Wayne, she laughs at his confused face. “It’s a present.” She adds.
“Oh, well, thank you.” He says, his face unreadable. Marinette shifts her weight, glancing between him and the package, waiting for him to open it. Or properly introduce her to the rest of the family. Either option would work at this point. Glancing at Dick, she sighs in relief when he claps. At least someone was going to make the first move.
“Right, so I don’t think you got the chance to meet Jason and Damian properly when you were here the other day.” Dick says, tugging her around a still frozen Bruce in front of the two boys from the other day.
“No, I didn’t. Hi, I’m Marinette.” She says, smiling and holding out a hand to Damian first. He tuts and turns away, making Marinette’s smile fall slightly before she turns to Jason. Jason grins and shakes her hand.
“Welcome to the family, kid.” He says, before whistling. “You didn’t get B’s height, that’s for sure.” He teases, Marinette snorts, her smile turning into a teasing smirk.
“Hey, don’t count me out for my height. Ever heard the phrase, small but mighty?” She asks, crossing her arms. Jason snorts, reaching out and messing up her hair.
“Whatever you say, Pixie Pop.” He replies. She rolls her eyes and turns to the other two siblings she hadn’t met.
“Hi, you must be Tim and Cass.” She says, smiling at both of them. Tim nods, his hand twitching towards his pocket. Marinette tries not to laugh, having seen Max do the same thing when he had to socialize for any amount of time. The boy was always far more comfortable with his phone in his hand, even if he wasn’t actually looking at it. Cass smiles, and Marinette notices her hands moving. “Sorry, could you repeat that, I wasn’t watching closely.” She says. Cass’ smile widens and she nods before starting over.
“Welcome to family. Nice to meet you.” Cass signs, making Marinette beam.
“It’s nice to meet you too.” She says, eyes widening when she realizes she left Adrien alone with a frozen Mr. Wayne. Whirling around, she moved back to Adrien and tugged him forward, rolling her eyes at his surprised yelp. Honestly, he should expect this by now.
“Geeze, Princess. Give a man a warning.” He says, adjusting his shirt that she’d accidentally messed up.
“Sorry k- Adrien. Sorry. Anyway, uh, everyone this is my friend Adrien Agreste. Adrien this is Jason, Damian, Tim, Cass and you already know Dick.” Marinette introduces, gesturing to each of her new siblings. Adrien shoots a wide smile, not quite his model smile but also not quite a real one.
“Nice to meet you all.” He says.
“Marinette, I apologize. Did you want me to open this now?” Mr. Wayne asks suddenly. She turns and raises an eyebrow at his unreadable expression and the way he holds onto the present like he doesn’t know what to expect. Which is fair, considering they’d only met in person the day before.
“Oh, um, if you want to. It’s nothing big.” She says, watching nervously as he nods and unwraps it. His eyebrows twitch together as he looks at the book, obviously not yet understanding.
“Open it, B.” Dick whispers, clearly understanding the gift more than their father. Mr. Wayne nods and opens it, his unreadable expression falling into one that she...still can’t read. But it’s not emotionless anymore. As he flips through the book, a small smile creeps its way onto his face and Marinette almost cheers. That’s the most sincere look she’d ever seen on the man.
“Did you put all this together?” He asks, glancing up from the book to look at her. Marinette nods.
“When I found out I was adopted, I wanted to have something to give my bio dad. So that even if he didn’t want to see me in person, he could get to know me. When I found out you’re my, um, dad, I added some personal touches.” She says.
“And I can keep this?” He asks, and Marinette’s shocked that he sounds almost scared. As if he thinks she’ll say no and take everything back. She smiles.
“Of course. My Maman and Papa already have those pictures. These are all yours.” She says.
“Thank you, Marinette. I- This is an amazing gift.” He says. Marinette’s smile widens and her shoulders sag in relief. Maybe tonight wouldn’t be a disaster after all.
I feel like I don’t have any sense of Tim’s relationship to the other Robins. Is it something that’s been actually neglected or am I just not looking in the right places?
hmm okay. It's totally understandable to not really know anything of Tim's relationship with all the other Batkids, since for the past decade(?) dc hasn't really teamed him up with the other Batman characters (let alone let him be one). But I'm going to assume you're talking PREboot, in which case, he's actually got a lot of interesting - and messy bc he's a Bat lbh - relationships with the rest of the fam.
Now you asked about the Robins specifically (god the fact that theres more than one is a headache and a half and i'm talking about the 3rd one lmao) and ii kinda lost patience so im talking about Jason, Damian and Steph, (ask me for Dick another time plz it’s too much with him and plus theres a million really good metas on him and Tim). I’m not including Bruce+Cass bc thats a completley different can of worms, or Duke bc they honestly don't really have a dynamic? they need to team up more
OK BABY IT'S STORY TIME WITH MEEEEE
uhh also this got wayyyyy long so checkout the "Read More" if you actually care
Duck Boy and Fire Hydrant Man
Starting with Tim's relationship with Jason since that probably has the least meat to it. And it's actually very linear In short: Tim and Jason Do NOT Like Each Other. Jason has actively tried to murder Tim multiple times with no real closure on most of those situations. Sooo pretty testy between these two. I don't understand how they work together happily during reboot and i don't want to understand tbh. it's migraine inducing.
Before he came back, Tim viewed Jason as more of a martyr figure or a cautionary tale, rather than an actual child who died. It's a bit insensitive sure, but the kid didn't know Jason, and all that he heard form Bruce - and the writers - OF Jason was that he was reckless and got himself killed. we as the readers know this isn't really how it went down but during that era there was a reframing of the narrative to make Jason seem not good enough so they could justify his death and the new Robin. It's not great but it's understandable, and nothing to detract from Tim's character but rather Bruce (but again, different rabbit hole)
It's not until the infamous encounter Teen Titans (2003) #29 where we really see an actual person-person relationship between them kick off. And its not really pretty haha. Jason comes back from the dead understandably hurt that he's been replaced, and upset about the idea that he "meant nothing" to either the Titans or Batman, so he goes to prove his superiority and take out his rage in an absolutly PSYCHO move that involved beating up a literal child while wearing an adult sized Robin costume. (good on the fans for forgetting about the yellow tights because I Did Not.) On Jason's side Tim represents the idea that he wasn't good enough, and fighting him was both to test Tim's ability AND to justify his own self worth. In Tim Drake- Town every preconcieved notion of Jason Todd being the tragic hero he's always heard about was destroyed with only Jason Todd is Dangerous - Stay Away.
Sooo they don't really interact much after that except for a few other times. One weird one that ended in Tim kicking Jay in the balls. One somewhere at the end of Robin (1993) (around Batman RIP and Bruce's death for a timeline ref) where it was JASON that approached Tim in hopes for a team-up that went with varying degrees of success. Tim was not excited about the team up at all, but he helped Jay escape from prison at the end and the two actually had A Moment in the batcave that looked like theye actually got along a bit and cared about each other just a little.
Their final interaction was in Battle for the Cowl (which also ended in a murder attempt) So Jason went on a grief induced/ manic killing spree dressed as the Batman. Tim shows up to stop him (also dressed as batman) and Jason says something about how he actually does respect Tim and he shoud (and i quote) "be HIS Robin" lmao. Tim declines as respectfully as he could after that bombshell of a line, and then Jason stabs him. That's about where things end with them in Preboot. cheerful innit?
TL;DR: Jason and Tim are not very friendly with each other- actively hostile i'd wager BUT, Jason has mad respect for the kid, and Tim is shown to keep wanting to give the guy more chances (maybe bc part of him still believe Jason to be some fallen hero thing). Regardless of a lot of their outward violence to each other they just might have maybe a tiny bit of love for one another
Sibling Rivalry on CRACK
Tim and Damian is one of the more misunderstood relationships. Most people either demonize young Damian for his not so pleasant everything (to which i say eff you) or not acknowledge how their relationship has evolved. Unsurprisingly, this one's also full of murder attempts.
So Damian shows up to Gotham to learn from his dad and y'know do the whole "take his place at his father's side" thing, which also means eliminating the competition (read: Tim). Tim is actually pretty friendly -outwardly anyways- to Damian when they first meet, but quickly becomes wary of the kid.
See what's soooo interesting about these two is that both of their hostility to the other is deeply rooted in their OWN insecurities. Damain sees Tim as an obstacle to his father's love. He see's Tim and Bruce being partner's and sees Bruce loving this outsider as his own son and he want that for himself. He doens't yet realize that love isn't a competition. Meanwhile Tim sees Damian as a threat to his own life stability. Here's this random child gunnin for the Robin spot - his life's purpose at this point- oh and turns out that this sassy lost child is actually his stepbrother. oh actually it's Bruce's bio kid. how's he gonna beat that? Tim's animosity towards Damian is also heavily based in his own fear that he's going to become obselete. So he also doesn't realize that he doesn't need to EARN Bruces love bc it's actually unconditional.
See, the parallels between these two is mind blowing to me. I like these kids very much.
Um... but to acknowledge the murder attempts thing: Damian does do it first, because he was raised to beleive that you need to kill your competition, but it's totally understandable that Tim doesn't really like the child very much. But Tim DOES actually throw hands a couple of times at Damian. I think in Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul Tim gives Damian a beatdown for a bit and also decks him in RR#1. I think it was to show that Tim is becoming increasingly unhinged, and i'm pretty sure Damian was being a mega jerk in the RR issue but like... NOT COOL BRO! jfc Tim stop indulging ur psycho tendencies omg.
BUT by that same token, those murder attempts are actually kinda funny in retrospect bc It just feels like like a sibling fight gone bananas.
Tim and Damian's relationship reallly mellowed out drastically after Tim came back from the BruceQuest. They actually seemed like real sibs(kinda like me and my sisters) where they were completley rude and bickered all the time but they also worked together and actually seemed to care about and respect each other. I rec Gates of Gotham it really shows how their relationship evolved from being hostile and violent with genuine hatred to hostile and violent with love. Tim calls Dami out on his jackassery and Dami is rude back but they also protect each other n stuff. it's nice.
TL;DR: Tim and Damian have a testy relationship but at it's core their animosity is based in their own fears of inadequacy and they see each other as threat to their own places in the family. Over time I think they really managed to move past that and care for each other a lot. It's just hidden under a lot of bonkers brother-fights. I actually think Tim and Damian might get along relativley well as reboot comics. no idea about pre-n52 wish we got more.
OTP Feels
I'm a lil worried about this section cuz it might be a bit controversial? Tim and Steph are very flawed people and i wanna point that out for BOTH of them, but also i love them <3
Steph is a really important person to Tim. which is to be expected since she's his girlfiend i guess... Okay, so it's all started with Steph smacking Tim in the face with a brick. After that it was a series of encounters that eventually led to them dating. (mostly cuz Steph was thirsty as hell and Tim was Definitly Not Cheating /s)
See, Steph when she first started out in the vigilante thing was quite the cynic whereas Tim was very moralistic. He was the proverbial light to Stephs dark (speaking solely on their morals). Steph however was not accepted by Batman and by extention Batgirl and Robin bc what the big man says goes. But Tim really warms up to Steph and enjoys hanging out with her. And i wanna emphasize Tim doesn't really believe in Steph's abilities- maybe because she's a noob, desire to keep her out of harms way, Batman's opinions, or even underlying sexism? (Chuck Dixon being a dickwad strikes again, not sure on this point)
Steph and Tim start dating eventually with the one condition being Tim not being able to tell her his secret ID. Tim know's Steph's so it's not a fair trade but also it makes sense for many reasons. 1.) relationship drama, 2.) Batman breathing down Tim's back, 3.) superhero romances tend to have the double life trope used a lot, id reveals being some sort of magical moment.
So timsteph's a smooth sailing druing pregnancy arc, and NML, and it's sometime during the Brentwood arc in Robin 1993 that we get some serious drama between the two of them. Tim's trapped in boarding school and Steph is beginning to get pretty upset about her end of the deal. In some dumb move she thinks Robin might be cheating on her? so starts trying to stalk him and crack his id herself. Some innocent civilians get hurt in the process actually, it's Not Cool on Steph's part but her perspective is very understandable. Tim is REALLY BAD at peopling and his defensiveness about his work-life balance only escalates the tension between them.
Ummm Sometime Later Tim goes MIA bc he's busy fighting a giant fish with Lagoon boy in Gotham Harbor, and Batman approaches Steph asking for her help to find Tim. Bruce reveals Tim's secret ID to her (which is Not Cool, B. You ruined the Magical Moment) and actually takes her in under his wing in Tim's absence and trains her for once. When Tim comes back he has a bit of a meltdown cuz he compartementalizes too much but he's ultimately more mad at Bruce for breaking his trust and pretty chill with Steph. OTP wins this round!
The next big turing point moment for them is the Robin!Steph arc which was VERY testy for them however! So Tim quits being Robin bc his dad finds out and Jack Drake being the nutjob that he is, threatened Bruce at gunpoint to make that happen. So Tim’s back to being a civvie (for reals?) and one day at school this chick Darla randomly kisses him without his permission and Steph CONVENIENTLY witnesses it and thinks Tim is cheating on her and decides to do him one better and steal his old job. Bruce takes her in as Robin no questions asked. (i don’t really get his motives here? was he trying to make Tim jelaous and lure him back in? he definiltly didn’t want Steph as a partner. that’s for certain) Bruce didn't giver a fair shot at all in this arc and it makes me kinda uncomfy how in this era Steph just gets the shit from everywhere it's sooo not fair to her.
The thing about the Robin!Steph saga really pulled into question what Steph’s true ambitions were. In the arc, the timsteph romance really fell apart. Steph kidna totally ghosted Tim, and Tim was feeling hurt/betrayed by B and Steph. he was probably not expecting to be replaced so easily, and it definitly shows in his rather cold attitude to both of them in the last time they spoke. It’s evidnet later in the final arc of Robin too that really more than anything Steph wants self validation. It’s not a bad thing but it’s interesting how it’s kinda a central part of her character arc but also a major flaw of hers. The Robin Experience was ultimatley Not Good for Steph, and really put strain of the romance and relationship in general. OTP loses this round :(...
Anyways. Steph “dies” Tim is sad. But she comes back and Tim has mixed feelings on that. they never really got closure for the mess their relationship became before War Games so things are once again pretty tense. Behind Tim’s back, Steph is busy carrying out some secret agenda thing Bruce left behind (which surpise surprise involved a murder attempt on Tim) Steph betrays Tim’s trust and in a really heated stressed moment ( i think some innocent kids just died like moments before?) Tim tells Steph to stop being Spoiler and essentially get out of his life. It was a REALLY BAD WRITING MOVE OKAY THIS ARC IS JUST BADLY WRITTEN. but since it is canon,  you gotta acknowledge that Steph messed up badly AND Tim was being a complete jerk for valid reasons. I know they did get a reconcilliation in a crossover event and we get an apology from Tim’s side and a kinda something? form Stephs. (Her Batgirl run is VERY good but Tim is pretty demonized in her perspective and we don’t get much acknowledgement of he mistakes leading to the falling out/ or much of the gang war thing she started? just want to point it out) But despite that Steph grows a lot since the whole thing anf her goals become a lot less self oriented I think.
TL;DR: Tim and Stephanie Brown probably have the least outwardly violent but equally messy. They love each other a lot and it’s very apparent, BUT they also have a lot of their own individual needs that get in the way of the relationship. Steph want’s validation and Tim wants someone who understands him.  Also they have pretty interesting parallels where Tim starts as hopeful and bright and Steph was cynical, but it switched by the end of preboot.  Despite everything they are probably one of the closest people to each other. (Tim wanted to ressurect her during his crazy phase lol)
***
Okay i’m done. Tim’s relationship with Dick is very long and complicated and I’m still kinda  not totally informed. I’ll come back to ya when i have formed a consensus. BUT there’s some pretty good meta’s already written i think
@silverwhittlingknife i know comes to mind. they have some pretty good ones on them
lost in your current
evermore series | track 1: willow
wait for the signal and i’ll meet you after dark. show me the places where the others gave you scars.
pairing: jay halstead x reader
word count: 1.5k
warnings: fluff, little bit of angst, mentions of guns, mentions of violence, jay whump, bruises, little bit of steam
Six months ago you never would have thought yourself in this position.
You’re watching Jay walk out of Molly’s, mischief all over that grin of his. People try to pull him back, but he’s resisting, trying to say his farewells as quick as possible.
He’s getting strange glances as he finally makes it out the exit, and you can’t help but smile.
“What’s got him out of here so fast?” Kim questions, and you just shrug, pretending to be clueless, but really, you’re far from it. Your phone is clutched tightly in your hand, all you’re waiting for is his text so you can follow suit.
You fake a yawn and lie about how you’re starting to get tired, swirling the little bit of vodka cran you have left in your glass. Kim rolls her eyes but you just laugh, butterflies starting to erupt in your stomach in anticipation.
When you feel your phone vibrate you down what’s left of your drink and stand. Kim is first to protest and all you can do is laugh, shrugging while you grab your things. You’re wondering how no one has noticed, the two of you haven’t really been all that careful.
Kim puts up minimal fight, rolling her eyes and whacking your bum as you pass on the way out. You poke her hip in return, unable to keep your smile from growing as you step out of Molly’s.
You walk the block over and then finally Jay’s truck is in sight. He’s leaning against the passenger side door, grinning as you get closer.
“Hey stranger,” You say. Jay doesn’t even respond, he just latches on, hands grabbing onto your waist the second you’re in reach.
You chuckle lightly, your palms sliding up and around his neck to return his hug. He releases a content sigh in response and all you can do is laugh more as he squeezes you even tighter.
“You smell nice,” He whispers, and you try to lean back but he leans forward to close the space almost instinctively, like he’s starved for touch.
“What’s gotten into you?” You grin, and one of your hands comes up to rest at the nape of his neck, as if to hold him there so you can get a look at his face. Jay could insist nothing is wrong all he wanted, but you know, he knows, his face can’t hide anything from you. “Tough day?” You ask, concern overpowering the humor in your tone now.
His eyebrows furrow a little but he stills shakes his head, trying to deny it, and that’s the giveaway.
“Do you wanna talk about it?” You murmur, and once again he shakes his head.
You wish he wasn’t so dismissive with his feelings sometimes, but you know you can’t fault him for it. It was taught, carved into him like a brand. That stoic nature, the instinct to push away every emotion, it’s a soldier thing.
You know you can’t push him though, as much as you want to. It’ll come out soon enough, so you just nod, trusting that he’ll work it out on his own.
“I just want you.” He whispers, leaning down to press his forehead to yours. His hands slide down to your hips, ghosting around to the back and you almost feel the smirk growing on his face.
“Detective...” You start, “I’m not sure this pat down is necessary. What are the grounds?”
He chokes back a laugh, giving your bum a squeeze before he kisses you.
He opens the back door of his truck, and you give him a look, which he returns with a wink. “You’re not even gonna take me home first, Halstead?”
“Round one here, cause I can’t wait,” He starts, lifting you into the backseat. “And round two, three, four and five at home.”
“Ambitious,” You return, pushing yourself further back into his truck. He follows, barely shutting the door before he’s pulling you onto his lap.
He kisses you hard, his grip on your waist tight as he tugs you further into his body, trying to get you as close and possible. Your hands wander down, pressing firmly against his torso to feel the ridges of his abs under your palm, but when he freezes, and sucks in a breath against your lips, you pull back immediately.
He winces, queueing a curious look from you. Jay gives you a look you’ve seen all too many times, one that says, ‘it’s nothing’, but you shake your head. Despite his reluctance to actually tell you, he lets you lift his shirt over his head.
When you finally see what he’s hiding, you lift a hand to your mouth to hide your gasp. His torso is basically one big bruise, leading to a dense purple spot right below his left pec.
You place a hand timidly over the area, eyes wide with shock and fear, although you can’t decide which is more prominent.
“Did you-,” You’re unable to finish your sentence, even the thought of what you’re pretty sure happened scaring you beyond words.
He was shot.
“It didn’t go through,” He reassures you. “It didn’t go through. I had my vest.” He takes your hand, raising it to his mouth where he places a kiss on your palm. “I’m okay.”
Lie.
“That’s so close to your heart. That could have killed you Jay.”
“But it didn’t.”
That doesn’t make you feel any better though.
“Neither did this one.” Now he places your palm over his left shoulder, where there’s a clear scar from where he was shot before.
You didn’t know him then, and thank god because you’re already this tousled over a shot to the vest, a real hit would be immeasurably painful for not just him. You had met Jay shortly after it happened, and it took maybe a half hour for you to fall head over heals for him. He was way too charming, and sweet, and he was pretty much everything you’d been looking for.
Or so you thought.
It was well into your secret relationship that you saw the effects of his tours, and even his job now. There was obviously some psychological damage, but he refused to talk about it, and you never felt like you were enough of a constant in his life to push.
You’ve kept everything a secret for so long, that even now in this moment you’re not sure if you have the right to push, but you don’t care. “Tell me what you’re feeling.” You demand. “You have to let it out, Jay.”
“I need to digest it first.” He argues, and you can see the pain behind his eyes, you’re pretty sure it mirrors your own. You’re being pushed away again. You start to try and move off of him, but he grabs your forearms, holding you still while he tries to meet your gaze. “But when I’m ready, you’re the only person I wanna talk to, okay?” You nod with a sigh, and he kisses your cheek. “I just need a day or two.”
You press your forehead to his, accepting his answer because it’s further than you’ve ever gotten before. It wasn’t exactly what you wanted but it’s progress.
Your eyes ghost over the scar on his shoulder, and you run your fingers over it, feeling the slight ridge in the skin. “Who did this to you?”
When he chuckles, you lift your head, no hint of a smile on your face. “I’m serious. I’ll hurt them.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah.” You respond, trying to sound tougher than you actually are, and Jay just grins, his hands rubbing up and down on your thighs. “Gotta protect my man,”
The smile that he gives you in return quite literally melts your insides. He pulls you in for another kiss, and your gravest suspicions are confirmed.
This is an open shut case.
You’re completely in love with Jay Halstead.
But you can tell him that later, right now you’re all in on the way his hands are ghosting up your sides, slowly taking your tank top with them. Your hands drift to his belt, and then you’re stopped in your tracks by 3 loud bangs on the window.
Adam is jumping all over the sidewalk, laughing hysterically as Kevin cups his hands over his eyes to get a good look in the truck. You can hear Kim howling as she says, “I knew it!”
