Decorative Sunday
The Decorators Supply Corporation of Chicago traces its history back to 1883 when the original founders established a partnership to manufacture "artistic decorative accessories." Ten years later, Decorators Supply had blossomed into a successful business, manufacturing cast ornamental plaster that helped create the mouldings for the buildings of the "White City" at the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893.
Today, Decorators Supply is still a family-owned business. It maintains the largest repository of moulds used to cast period architectural details in two historic materials: wood composite and plaster. From these materials, they create historically accurate architectural mouldings, ceiling medallions, capitals, pilasters, corbels, furniture, woodwork appliqués and fireplace mantels. Examples of such decorative architectural features can be found in the company’s 1925 Illustrated Catalogue of Plastic Ornaments Cast in Plaster for Interiors and in Composition for Exteriors shown above, their catalogue #118. The catalogue consists of 320 black and white photographic pages of the company’s stock.

Archaeologists Find Ornamental Bronze Wall Plate in Turkey
An intact bronze plate believed to be used as a wall ornament by the royal Urartian family has been unearthed during the ongoing excavations at Ayanis Castle in eastern Türkiye.
The castle, which overlooks the scenic Lake Van roughly 200 meters (about 655 feet) below, is one of the most magnificent structures remaining from the Urartu Kingdom with its decorations, mud-brick walls and stone engravings that managed to survive to date in the Tuşba district of Van. Digging and restoration work at the site of the structure built during the reign of King Rusa II (680-639 B.C.) have been ongoing for over three decades.
Four new interconnected rooms were unearthed on the northern slope of the hill on which the castle is being excavated under the direction of lead archeologist, professor Mehmet Işıklı.
Işıklı, who is also an academic at Atatürk University, said his team encountered very surprising findings at this part of the castle dig site.
"There are rows of interconnected room groups ... Many findings, particularly ceramics, were uncovered in the rooms. Numerous groups of wooden structures were also found. These provide us with important information on the details of the Urartian architecture, but we haven't yet determined what the rooms were used for."
Excited by the "unique" bronze wall plate found in one of the rooms, Işıklı said it was the only specimen of its kind that has been unearthed in one piece, unlike fragments that had been found on other occasions.
The plate was likely used as an architectural embelishment, he added.

Benefits of Lightweight Gold Ornaments
Comfortable to Wear: One of the primary advantages of lightweight gold ornaments is their comfort. Unlike heavier jewelry pieces, lightweight ornaments are less likely to cause discomfort or strain, making them ideal for prolonged wear, especially during daily activities.
Versatile Styling Options: Lightweight gold ornaments offer versatility in styling, allowing individuals to effortlessly incorporate them into a wide range of outfits and occasions. Whether dressing up for a formal event or keeping it casual for everyday wear, lightweight pieces can complement any look.
Ease of Layering: Due to their lightweight nature, these ornaments are perfect for layering with other jewelry pieces. Whether stacking multiple necklaces or layering bracelets, lightweight gold ornaments add a touch of elegance without feeling cumbersome or overwhelming.
Affordability: Lightweight gold ornaments are often more affordable than their heavier counterparts due to the lower quantity of gold used in their construction. This affordability allows individuals to invest in quality gold jewelry without breaking the bank.
Convenience for Travel: Traveling with jewelry can be challenging, especially when dealing with bulky or heavy pieces. Lightweight gold ornaments are easier to pack and carry, making them convenient travel companions for those who wish to accessorize while on the go.
Reduced Risk of Damage: Heavy jewelry pieces can exert pressure on the skin and may be more prone to damage or breakage. Lightweight gold ornaments, on the other hand, are less likely to cause strain and are generally more durable, reducing the risk of damage during wear.

Modern and Minimalist Aesthetics: With the rise of minimalist fashion trends, lightweight gold ornaments have become increasingly popular for their modern and understated aesthetics. These pieces offer a sleek and refined look that appeals to individuals seeking simplicity and elegance in their jewelry.
Ideal for Everyday Wear: Lightweight gold ornaments are perfect for everyday wear, offering a subtle yet stylish way to accessorize any outfit. Whether worn to the office, during leisure activities, or for social events, these ornaments add a touch of sophistication to any ensemble.
