A narwhal forrmynður from The White Vault! I am enamored by the idea of Underwater Vaults and the "overly large narwhal tusk" mentions so I really wanted to try drawing a forrmynður, though I've never drawn a whale in my life. I almost fell into the narwhal fact rabbit hole in the process of looking up references.

I envision the forrmynður's active forms as...not skeletal (though they can leave behind skeletons) but just really enlarged beasts with elongated/stretched features, with black "oily" skin somewhere between smooth and rough (I went with kind of textured). Posing this one was initially a little tricky because Narwhals are so friend shaped to begin with that even with the stretching and roughness it still looked pretty friend shaped for a while, LOL. Forrmynður probably do not want to be friends...with most people. 8D

The White Vault (in the Sims 4) pt. 1

In the past few weeks, I have been re-listening to The White Vault, and while my art skills aren't quite up to the level I'm happy with, I still wanted to make some images of the characters and scenes in the podcast. So, I went to the Sims. The following screenshots display scenes from the first season of The White Vault.

First days in the bunker as Rosa makes coffee and Walter works on the radio

Karina journalling at the table

Jónas journals while Walter queues up the movie for the night.

Walter works on repairs on the tower. Graham supervises.

The gang hangs out. Rosa and Graham flirt.

White Vault AU is based off of the paranormal found footage horror podcast 'the White Vault' by Fool and Scholar Productions! It's about where 5 people are sent to an outpost (Outpost Fristed) in Svalbard to solve an issue with the outpost, and is trapped there when an unnatural storm rolls in. I recommend you listen to the podcast, I'm not very good at summaries lmao

The idea for the AU so far under the cut (Spoilers for White Vault! S1+S2+S3):

The 5 people put into the Fristed repair team are: -Impulse (Medic and maybe the most important member of the team) -Scar (Hunter+knows the environment and terrain well, but still a bit of a clutz in the beginning) -Mumbo (Repairman and resident tech expert) -Pearl (Geologist and studies terrain data sent by the rovers) -Grian (Cook and is there to observe and supervise the team, is a bit anxious to get back to the UK to take care of his cats) The five of them are sent out into the arctic wastelands of Svalbard to fix an issue on Outpost Fristed. Supposedly, the issue is large and will take several days to repair. However, once arrival, Mumbo almost immediately fixes the issue, and a storm rolls in and strands the team in the arctic.

At first, all of them are treating this like a large sleepover, and remains bored, until Scar discovers a secret hatch in the storage room that leads down into an icy tunnel.

They leave Mumbo in the Outpost to try and get in contact with the base, and Grian, Pearl, Impulse, and Scar venture into the ice tunnels.

The four realizes the tunnel leads to a giant underground ancient city, a massive archaeological find, and decides to go back up to get Mumbo to explore the city together. They don't know the second Mumbo leaves they DO receive a signal-just not with the base

They walk around and explore the underground civilization together, but Pearl suddenly takes a large fall from exploring an oddly-placed ledge, and goes unconscious. The group quickly retreat back into the Outpost, and Impulse nurses Pearl back into wakefulness.

Pearl suddenly is very terrified and wants to leave the outpost right away, and claims that she didn't fall; She had jumped to get away from the large dark humanoid creature that had lunged towards her.

Obviously no one believes her, but Grian has a bad feeling...

hello, mechanisms enjoyer. who is your favourite mechanism. what is your favourite album. what is your favourite song. do you have a favourite mechanisms photo.

also as a fan of many horror podcasts what would you recommend that is like TMA but not TMA and don’t say welcome to nightvale that’s more like comedy with the implication of horror and doesn’t have the same suspense and creeping dread. others I have tried are alice isn’t dead (dislike for personal reasons I won’t get into) and wolf-359 (nothing was happening I’m told it’s horror but nothing was happening I don’t want to have to wait ten hours for the horror to present itself)

Favorite mechanism is ashes closely followed by ts and brian. I just think they're neat

Favorite album is probably ulysses dies at dawn or the bifrost incident though I really like all of them

I don't think I can pick a single favorite song but from each album is probably pump shanty or rose red, torn suits, the hanged man rusts, losing track, and then dr pilchard and lost in the cosmos from ttbt 1 and 2

I don't have a single favorite photo but I always love ashes and I find the toy soldier brings whimsy to every photo it's in

As for podcasts, I find that ghost wax has similar vibes to season 1 of tma except the guy in the archivists role is already eldritch and knows what he's doing

We have Owen Voncid as the world's last necromancer, working as a Reclaimer who takes the statements of the dead so the order he works for can track down whatever supernatural thing killed them

Hello from the Hallowoods is a post apocalyptic queer horror podcast with themes of identity and family

It's formatted as a radio broadcast by an eldritch being called Nikignik, each episode has its own theme, and each episode is made up of circa 4 bits of the storyline

Some of the many characters include a transmasc ghost, a group of nonbinary Frankensteins creatures, a genderfluid cloud witch, a devil in a floral suit with a magic eye umbrella, and a grandma with a shotgun

(just a warning, the main villain of season 1 is very religious and transphobic though he gets what he deserves)

The white vault is a found footage horror podcast regarding a repair team sent to outpost Fristed in Svalbard that gets stuck when a bad storm rolls in. They find an abandoned city under the ice and everything goes downhill from there

bo inflicts pain and misery on everyone around him

hello to the five people seeing this rn. i am now holding you AT GUNPOINT to read a little scenario in my head (you get images, too!)

Bo invites Lance along to an Official Barabell Family Gathering!™ 

Is it so he can brag that he knows a Frist Slash adventurer? maybe. Is it so he can brag to his cousins that he talks to hot men? also maybe. Is any part of it to put Lance through a LIVING HELL? Yes, all of it!

Due to Bo’s sadistic nature, Lance has to spend his day with a grandmother (Joan), who constantly tries to hook up her granddaughter (Ophelia, and Bo’s cousin), with Lance. On top of that, the family friend (Jesse) always finds a way to get Ophelia and Lance closer than what’s comfortable. Lance will have to push his way through awkward talks with Bo’s older generation cousins, who will not stop talking about how proud they are of their kids (and how great they are.) Unfortunately, Lance will never actually catch on that the older folks are trying to get Lance interested in their offspring. Bo, however, catches on almost immediately and laughs his ass off every time it’s brought up.

If Ross (Bo’s older generation cousin) isn’t bragging about his daughter (Nadia), then he’s absolutely asking Lance about First Slash work. Leanne (Ross’s Wife) will gladly join in, sharing her own stories about the field as well. Whenever Nadia is brought into the situation, she most definitely tries to steer it on to something else, as the last thing she wants happening is her parents bringing up something embarrassing or them playing matchmaker.

Lux (Bo’s cousin that’s the same age as him) will freqeuntly try to talk to Lance. It’s less about Lance as a person, and more of how the hell him and Bo met, and what they’ve experienced together. Because if Lux knows anything about their cousin, then god fucking damn he hates adventurers. Lance will retell every detail he can, not including the part where him and Bo got it on in the Highlands Outpost.

That was the first time Lance had ever lied about his sexuality to get out of a situation.

I save the listening for work and the reading for home, but let me tell you guys this one is awesome with how spooky and isolated the characters feel! It’s practically up there with my other favorites like Welcome to Nightvale and The Magnus Archives. I’m on the 3rd season so far with maybe 2 more to go!

The White Vault (in the Sims 4) pt. 2

The following screenshots display scenes from the second season of The White Vault.

Starting out strong, this season begins with the confirmed death of Dr. Karina Schumacher-Weiß.

The rest of the repair team descend into the anatomical theatre where they find Karina's still-beating heart in a box.

The remaining crew discovers the ossuary.

Meanwhile, the creature is up at the bunker, damaging it and their food stores.

Walter makes another desperate attempt to contact Ny-Ålesund for help.

The remaining team makes for Ny-Ålesund,

But the creature attacks and takes Walter before they get very far.

The statues are back when they arrive in the village, chasing the sounds of Walter's screams.

Following a cave-in, they find a journal of a Finnish soldier from WWII.

Using the map from the journal, Rosa, Graham, and Jónas find a body of water in the tunnels. They find many delicious lamprey in the water to feast on.

Jónas contemplates his injured hand, skin having sloughed off to reveal a slimy black hand underneath.

After a chase through the tunnels where Rosa is injured, Graham is abducted, pulled under the water.

Jónas helps Rosa get a grip on the situation after Graham disappears into the water. The creature is still in there, and they need to find a way out.

After a long walk (and crawl) through the caverns, Jónas and Rosa exit into a chamber covered in runes, constellations, and symbols.

Rosa examines the carvings, taking rubbings, before she is attacked and vanishes through the door etched into the wall.

Jónas leaves the cavern where Rosa was attacked and writes his final note to his daughters. "My fingers aren't my own. Not on the other hand. Long, black leathery things. It shines, like an orca, swimming. Up my hand, up my arm."

"When you see it, it sees you, too. When you hear it, it hears you, too. When you feel it, it touches you. When it calls you, it has you. When you feed it, it claims you"

"This concludes the last documents and recordings related to the repair team sent to Outpost Fristed."
