Currently brainrotting over an unfinished fic I wrote with a friend years ago. Like, I'm not joking. Why did the character motivations and actions have to be that good.

The protagonist is Grian, and you know what? He's not a good person. The antagonist is Doc, and you know what? He's not a good person.

You can see how they become that way. People always saw Grian as a hero. People always saw Doc as a villain. You can see why they did what they did. You can forgive their actions even... or well, understand them. They both pass the reasonable moral horizon. They both do mindless violence just for a point. There's so many parallels between them.

I'm half tempted to reread it and ask said friend if I could edit it and post it.

Edit: It's almost 13k words long. Holy shit. It cut off during the final battle between Grian and Doc too.

Edit again: I forgot it was in first person perspective. This is a conundrum.

Edit once more: Grian is losing it y'all. Just wanted to let you know, if you didn't already. He is also a wet rag of a man and it's amazing. Yes, Grian, bad things happened. Yes, Grian, they are bad. Yes, Grian, this was your fault. What did you think was happening?

Oh, what's this? Another edit: Alas, we've come to (one of) my favourite parts of the fic. "What is this, some story written by 12 year olds?"

Mikey and I are more willing to try out new combos, Raph is on the fence depending on what the combo is, Donnie is a no-go, especially if there's pinapple invovled On the topic, pineapple and veggie lovers combined? Delicious! The olives and the pineapple is sweet and salty, it's actually PERFECT. Cucumbers on pizza is also incredibly good.

I think Raph liked this one combo of pepperoni, sausage, olives and chives? I couldn't stomach that one but it tasted GOOD. Tastes better if you replace the sauce for pesto sauce instead, sprinkle a little dorito on there? Painville but pain tastes SOOOOO GOOODDD

He’s quiet as he slips through the shadows, carefully navigating the streets as the truly begins. It is close to midnight, and the moon hides behind clouds, offering little peeks of light. He avoids those with ease as he winds through alleyways, looks over his shoulder as fleeting as the breeze as he ensures there is no one following. Carefully, Toshiro removes the attire that marks him: the cloth around his mouth, the top hat that sits atop his head, the dark jacket. All but the jacket are slipped into nooks and crannies, places that even when found would mean little. It’s all too common to assign to a single person.

But the jacket, that he hangs over his arm as he continues forward, his free hand running through hair. A short night for his plans because it was an easy death. If only he was so lucky for other targets.

He’ll accept tonight, despite the way his mouth remains dry, and his lids heavy. He’ll sink into bed, and try to sleep away the images that will flood his mind, of life quickly fading from eyes and choked noises finally quieting ----

A door opens. Light floods the alley, and he looks up to the silhouette framed in the halo of gold.

A heart stammers in shock as Toshiro stops in place. A beat, and then recognition hits like a train.

“Zoya.” He frowns, trying not to clench his jaw. “Looks like I turned down the wrong street tonight.”
