i love it when you start watching media from a country you've never seen anything from before and you unintentionally keep finding the same actor. Like this dude is holding my hand through uncharted territory and i love it :')

I would literally do anything to re live that feeling I had when I first watched Masaan. There is something extremely raw about understanding the original dialogue & not needing subtitles.

And yet. Yet. I did not know a lot of cultural nuances within the story. Such as the belief that splitting the skull during cremation is said to help the soul rest in peace. The betting on kids who can dive to pick coins. Slut shaming & stigma on pre marital sex being more condemned in smaller towns than metropolitan cities.

The subtlety of accents. Devi uses the word "please" "papa" & always speaks in a clear "sophisticated" way, sprinkled with English words. She's digitally literate. Confident even that despite everyone's blackmail, she was just in love & not being the so called slut. She was afraid but never guilty. She never accepted harassment.

Then we have Deepak & Shaalu. Blissfully happy. Until reality starts sinking in. Their families will not accept an inter caste marriage. Deepak starts getting insecure that his family cremates bodies for a living. Shaalu feels pathetic for asking. Of course she meant no harm but damn was she scared of bring disowned.

And then it starts to merge. Devi & Deepak both want to break their cycle of poverty. They study hard & move in search of opportunity. They want to better their lives. They've lost their lovers. They both throw their lover's remaining token into the rivers.

I personally see the last line to be layered. That they should go to sangam twice. But were they really alone? Or were they going with that someone not next to them but in their heart?

Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister of India and held post for three times serving the country.  He was a staunch patriotic and a dedicated politician and leader. He was awarded Bharat Ratna and Padma Vishnu.

The trailer gives glimpses of significant occurrences of his life journey. Encounters with Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, Akhil Bharatiya Jan Sangh, and his training at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, to his political journey. The powerful trailer follows the extraordinary life and political journey of Atal ji. The trailer is impactful on the accounts of Pankaj Tripathi playing the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Another trailer of the upcoming movie was dropped on 14th Jan 24. The trailer starts with a strong emotion about the state of the party where Pankaj Tripathi portraying Atal ji says; “The happiness and prosperity we imagine to have in life, cinema portrays it on the screen. We believe what we watch on screen. Outside cinema halls there is also one screen in the eyes of this country’s innocent citizens, whatever you show them they will believe it to be true. And whenever we try to do something good for the country, we are accused of being communal, and the Janata is being told and given an understanding that this Hindu party is dangerous for the country”.

The trailer gives glimpses of how Atal Bihari Vajpayee faced the criticism after Mahatma Gandhi’s Murder, the accused Godse’s association with RSS. Indian emergency chaos, The Babri Masjid destruction, violence and background slogans of ‘Mandir Wahi Banayenge’. There is similarly a glimpse of how Vajpayee launched a bus seva among India and Pakistan to maintain peace. The success of the Pokhran nuclear test, where Atal ji says, “answer to atom bomb is atom bomb”. The latter part of the trailer shows Vajpayee’s role during the Kargil War.

Vishal Bhanushali presents Main Atal Hoon, Directed by National Awardee Ravi Jadhav, who gave movies like Natsamrat and Natrang, is set to bring Atal Bihari Vajpayee on silver screen on 19th Jan 24. The first single titled "Desh Pehle" was released on 25 December 2023. The second single titled "Ram Dhun" was released on 4 January 2024. The third single titled "Hindu Tan-Man" was released on 11 January 2024.

The movie features Piyush Mishra, Paayal Kapoor Nair, Harshad Kumar, Raja Rameshkumar Sevak, Daya Shankar Pandey, Pramod Pathak, Prasanna Ketkar, Haresh Khatri, Paula McGlynn, and Gauri Sukhtankar.  

Pankaj Tripathi; when talking about playing a role of late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in one of the interviews said that while studying and reading Vajpayee; “I felt that Vajpayee was a poet and big personality, if we look at it from today’s perspective, I did not get the feeling of politician as we see we around, I read about him, it was enriching and educational”.
