Major Spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
Just got out of GotG3 and I’m really happy there didn’t end up being any major character deaths. The Guardians trilogy is about trauma; Childhood trauma, parental trauma, trauma from loss, trauma from abuse, building walls in response to trauma, and learning to slowly tear down those walls. In order for those themes to stick the landing, it’s crucial that life goes on. Each of the guardians got a satisfying conclusion to their arcs. Peter is finally emotionally mature enough to actively seek closure for his mother’s death and is ready to reconnect with his family on Earth. Gamora may not be the same person they once knew, but she can acknowledge that the others knew and loved a version of her, while they can acknowledge that this Gamora can’t be someone else for them, and she’s thriving in a new life she made for herself. Drax gets to be a father again. Mantis is learning to value herself and be her own person. Kraglin finally sees in himself what Yondu saw in him, and is able to keep a part of Yondu with him. Nebula has found a place where she is valued and loved unconditionally, and can be a force for good. Rocket has confronted his abusers, overcome them, and learned to let himself love and be loved by friends again. Groot’s vocabulary is expanding. Cosmo is a good dog. An incredibly emotional and satisfying ending can also be a happy ending.

Starbula Week Day 4 Parents
@starbulaweek
Thanks to the song Guardians Inferno and opening scene for GOTG VOL 2, I can picture Peter and Nebula being forced to bring their son to a mission that goes wrong and now they have to play toss and catch with their baby.
"Baby!" He nonchalantly tossed his 8-month-old child to Drax, narrowly evading the incoming energy blast. The Destroyer deftly caught the baby, securing him against his massive chest as he rolled and, with a swift, powerful move, used his shoulders to tackle a group of Saakaran soldiers to the ground.
Zed, the baby, giggled in delight. The chaos of battle seemed to have no impact on him. If anything, it was like having a playdate with his parents, uncles, and aunts— even though bringing a baby into a battle was both illegal and highly irresponsible.
Drax roared in triumph, his laughter ringing out. "Did you enjoy that, little Quill? Let's tear someone's spine out!"
"Drax, if I see a single drop of blood on my child, I'll personally ensure your spine is ripped out," Nebula warned through the comms, Peter repeating her words.
"When my daughter was this small, she helped me slay a beast and her clothes got stained with its blood like a true warrior!—Haaaaaaa!" Zed's laughter rang out again as Drax lifted a soldier off his face, held him aloft, and then unceremoniously dropped him to the ground, bones cracking in the process.
“That doesn’t sound credible at all” Rocket commented.
"Hey, Glowing Gilt!" Peter yelled as he bopped a guy on the head with the back of his blaster, narrowly dodging a punch from another assailant. "Get the kid before Drax turns MY Baby into a bloodbath!"
"You two are growing soft! Groot was raised like this and turned out just fine!"
"I am Groot!"
"Oh, really? Shall I remind you when he got arrested by Nova Corps for blowing up an ice cream truck?"
"I am Groot!"
"I've never killed an innocent civilian over ice cream!"
"The baby's airborne!" Kraglin interjected, and both parents watched in horror as their son descended toward the ground.
"Oh, hell!" Peter powered through another group of soldiers, using his jet boots to boost himself towards his firstborn. Nebula, however, reached their son first, gracefully cradling him in her arms.
"Oh, Hala!" Peter breathed out, his heart lodged in his throat. Yeah, next time, they were definitely hiring a babysitter, or someone would have to stay behind.

Thinking about how Jolie would have reacted to the events in the Holiday Special and laughing 😂
so sorry for my delay holiday-nonnie but the truth is i was planning on writing a non-window one-shot about the holiday special and when i got this ask it kinda fucked me up. so i may not do that but what i will do is tell you this:
⋆꙳•̩̩͙❅*̩̩͙‧͙ Winter Across the Galaxy * ‧͙*̩̩͙❆ ͙͛ ˚₊⋆ [new 12/5]
rocket x f!oc | casual minific | word count: ??
fluffy fluff. smut implied at the end but not explicit. casually written (headcanon-style) && not edited at all so probably riddled with bad autocorrects.
i suspect that in her younger years, the holidays were a very weird time for jo. i imagine that she and her sister each received one very nice, very serviceable gift every christmas, like a new wool coat or a maybe — if their parents were feeling particularly indulgent — some kind of educational game. if there was anything else — a special meal, a small tree or some lights — the girls would be expected to “help,” and not in a fun way.
it wasn’t that jo & gem’s parents didn’t have means. no. everything was very intentional — calculated. they always seemed to believe that their children had been born into the world already spoiled shitty, and it was their job to teach jo & gem not to ever believe they deserved anything.
but jo’s always been a sucker for wonder, for the kind of romance that a person can find in frost-flowers on a window pane, the tender curl of steam on a cup of warm tea, the glow of a million little multicolored lights — whether they’re studding a nighttime neighborhood street under snow, or a far-off planet. at some point early on, she learned that the other kids whose families celebrated christmas had all this excitement and glee around the holidays. she learned about christmas cookies and big family get-togethers and various holiday movies and stockings and santa.
my mom says some kids don’t celebrate Christmas but if you do and you’re good, santa comes, one classmate had confided. he only doesn’t come if you don’t do christmas.
or if you’re bad.
and jo had wanted that. wanted christmas. wanted magic and wonder and closeness.
for gemma.
because even if jolie knew she herself wasn’t always very good, she knew more certainly than anything else in the world that gemma was. and that gemma deserved magic.
so jo got some cheap felt and made like, the saddest ugliest most barely-functional little stocking in the world for her sister, and explained what it was, and they hid it under gemma’s bed. and since the girls shared a room, it was very easy for jo to keep herself awake and sneak out of bed and fill her sister’s stocking with whatever she could afford or make (which wasn’t much, but it was still magic, and the look on gemma’s face every christmas morning was worth jo selling off portions of her home-packed lunches to her classmates or drawing little comics of them for a dollar or two). making magic for her sister made the holidays magic for jo.
after gemma, christmas was never again anything close to merry.
but when kraglin brings it up — and mantis gets the idea to celebrate for pete and the people of knowhere — jolie is more in than she has been on anything since rocket first told her he wanted to fuck her. after all, she has a family now, and what’s more magical than giving magic to her family?
in some ways, it’s the only christmas tradition jolie’s ever had.
although, she promises herself, next time — when there’s more opportunity to prepare — she’s going to make sure they all have stockings.
in the meantime, she’s so fuckin excited to help rocket and cosmo and groot and nebula string up the lights. to prep the snow. she probably coordinates a fuckin last-minute knowhere neighborhood potluck. she listens to bzermikitokolok’s christmas song and she tells him not to change a goddamn thing because it’s perfect. privately, she revels in the fact that she’s pretty sure she can pinpoint exactly which parts were influenced by kraglin, cosmo, and her cranky boyfriend. she loves every word of it and she can’t stop singing it.
there’s really only one line she thinks needs to be clarified before the night’s over.
she also keeps asking where mantis and drax are because it was their idea and she knows mantis is worried about telling pete (i know it must be scary for you, mant, jo had told her, but for what it’s worth, i promise pete will be thrilled; there’s nothing more precious than a sister, i promise) but either nobody knows where they went, or nobody’s telling.
when kevin fucken bacon pops out of that box though, Jo’s like …oh. this fuckin’ makes sense. later she’ll ask them all, why the fuck did no-one ask me — the other resident terran — if this was a good idea?? and the other guardians will shuffle shame-facedly.
but for now, jo and kraglin eventually corner kevin and calm him down. and the truth is, jo knows that later tonight — after some boozy hot chocolate — she’s going to find it all hysterical.
and she does. she and rocket are in their apartment (they have a much more comfortable bed because there’s no way either of them are letting each other sleep on whatever-the-fuck bachelor-rocket has going on in volume three) and she’s lying on her tummy on the comforter, drunkenly giggling and kicking her feet while she watches cosmo and rocket convince a long-suffering groot to stand in as a christmas tree. the shadows are blue and purple velvet, and the multicolored lights are warm and shimmery. everything feels like champagne bubbles, but sweeter and brighter and better. all four of them are wrapped in a golden coziness for the moment, and she’s sure she couldn’t be more happy.
once their friend and their son leave for the night, rocket and jo lay on their back and stare up at the lights that he’s strung through the apartment rafters, because it’s true that rocket has always had a soft spot for pretty things, even if he doesn’t believe he deserves them. they’re lazy and languid and rosy and buttery and content: two little sugar cookies, still half-drunk on whatever was in that cocoa (plus the flask rocket kept swigging from throughout the night).
favorite part? she asks him.
he snickers. your face when kevin bacon happened.
a buzzy giggle escapes her.
yours? he asks.
she hums her data-processing noise. the lights, she says decisively. no, the snow. no, everybody just being together, giving gifts, having fun, sharing food. i’ll make you all stockings for next year, she tells him, and he’s clearly baffled by what she means.
which reminds her.
there’s only one thing she’d change, she tells rocket. one line in bzer’s song she feels the need to clarify.
what? he asks curiously. we got somethin’ wrong?
just one thing, she assures him, lying through her fucking teeth and totally at peace with it. she can’t stop the snorting laughter riding in her throat. you think santa’s gonna shoot missiles at your toes?
rocket shrugs. maybe he’s got some very precise firepower. bet mine’s still better.
it better be, she says dryly, because mistletoe is just a kind of terran plant. like, with berries.
you eat it? rocket asks curiously.
absolutely not, she tells him. you just decorate with it. it’s poisonous.
what the fuck, he deadpans. why the fuck would you decorate with a poisonous—
it’s an old tradition, she cuts in. old folklore and myths. but when two people are standing under it, they’re supposed to kiss.
that’s stupider than santa shooting missiles at your toes, he says flatly. you’re s’posed to make out under poison? how frickin’ romantic.
but jo’s already rolling over on top of him, her chest pressed against his thighs and her forearms planted on either side of his hips.
i’d take any chance i got to kiss you, she tells him. even under threat of poison.
he goes still beneath her, but she doesn’t stop.
i’d hang it all over this apartment.
his eyes get bigger, rounder, christmas-light-red in the dim, warm glow of twinkling colors.
i’d wear it in my hair.
she drops a kiss on his abdomen.
you wouldn’t be able to walk more than a step without me tackling you, she promises, her voice smoky with too much laughter and singing through the night, too much booze and happiness and lust right now. she presses another kiss against him, just a little further south than the first.
i’d kiss you all over —
he reaches out and laces his fingers into a fistful of her hair, letting his claws scrape delicately over her scalp, and tugs her upward.
i lied, he says. santa shooting missiles is way more stupid. you want mistletoe, sugardrop? i’ll get quill to send krags and cosmo to terra and we’ll get you so much fuckin’ mistletoe —
she smiles giddily.
maybe next time, she says. for now, let me just give you a merry christmas.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is honest to the-movie-gods a fucking amazing movie. Visually it is stunning - cinematography, lighting, the use of colours, and visual effects. It is funny, emotional and full of fucking heart.
In general the movie is visually gorgeous - colourful, bright, innovative camera angles, and one fight sequence with the full team is fucking epic. One of the best fight sequences I have ever seen in its cohesiveness while focusing on each character's unique fighting ability and how they compliment one another. It is so fucking beautiful. And the soundtrack! OMFG! THE FUCKING SOUNDTRACK! Perfect and plays such an important part of the movie. Just perfect..
Below is a list of SPOILERS.
Adam Warlock is a space himbo who likes cute-ugly space alien/pets. Loves his mummy & is dumb as a box of rocks. I love how he becomes a full member of the Guardians in mid-credit. He deserves a second chance, and hey with his mummy/parental issues he would fit right in with the Guardians.
Cosmo the space dog getting fired up about being called a "bad dog" by Kraglin, not being able to let it go is one of the funniest running jokes throughout the whole movie. It just really worked for me. Lols.
Gamora & Nebula's growl-grunt as a form of greeting/goodbye/I love yous is fucking amazing. They are such amazing sisters but also killing machines. I love it so very much.
Gamora is fucking amazing in this. She is competent, angry and her own person. She doesn't know Peter or the rest of the Guardians. She isn't their Gamora, she is her own person, and her finding her place with the Ravagers is just so beautiful & glorious. Bcos they fucking love her, and she chose them. They are hers, and she is their's. Her parting line to Peter, "We must have been fun." Was fucking gut wrenching & an acknowledgement that yeah, in another life this Gamora could she herself making a life with Peter. But this isn't that life, she isn't that Gamora, and she found herself a new family.
Nebula being the leader of Knowhere, creating a place for the displaced, the weird & the hurt. Leading & protecting them, wanting children to grow up like she never did. OMFG. Her character development is fucking amazing. The ways she tries & tries to be better than what she was taught to be is just so beautiful.
Drax acknowledged as a great dad, BY NEBULA, the way he connected & talked to the kids. His relationship with Mantis - their pseudo sibling relationship, their genuine love & respect for one another. Just gods Drax was hilarious and so very genuine.
Mantis going off on her own, to discover what she wants to do, to be her own person, with her three giant fucking space creatures of terror. Mantis being angry, honest and so fucking brave.
Rocket!! OMFG! ROCKET!!!! An experiment by a madman, wanting to live in a world with his friends, running to escape the pain & the memories. Rescuing ALL the animals being experimented on, fucking tired of running, choosing not to kill his torturer bcos he chose to be a Guardian. Just fuck, ROCKET. As a side note the way the tortures were depicted in the form of what happened to the animals was utterly horrifying. Floor the rabbit was the stuff of nightmares but she just wanted to play and be with her friend, and it is just so fucking heartbreaking. Animal cruelty is the fucking worst.
And finally Peter. Gods, Peter. How he infected his whole patchwork family with his music, with his need to be with one & another, with his refusal to let any of them die. Finally growing up, ready to face his past instead of running. Taking a break from the Guardians to return to earth to spend time with his grandfather, to confront his past. It is so hard to articulate how much I love Peter Quill, especially in a series of movies where the focus became progressively more evenly spread in the attention they pay to each character. But Peter pulled this group of assholes together and he would die for any of them. His fear & anguish when he thought Rocket had died was heartbreaking.
There is SO MUCH amazing interactions between all the characters - Nebula, Mantis & Drax! Peter & Gamora, Rocket & Peter, Cosmo being called a "bad dog" by Kraglin. Just gods - what a fucking amazing film that wanted to celebrate the fun of a space opera AND to roll around in the feels of found family love, a group of idiots who tell each other they love each other, willing to go to war for each other. A group of idiots who dance in the streets in joy, screaming their feelings. Just fuck. What a wonderful movie.

Yondu feels
I've finally watched more GotG and have had thoughts about Yondu.
Random headcanon: Since a large part of Yondu's crew is as dumb as a bag of bricks (it's funny until you tie it a lack of literacy and basic education to crime and neglect on a universal scale) Peter and his fourth grade education quickly rise through the Ravager ranks. He's promoted almost instantly once Yondu recognizes he can multiply. (I want to write a fic where Peter is on cleaning duty, overhears someone making a mess of inventory and by snarking, gets promoted by Yondu)
What if.......Yondu's core problem is weakness. Weakness gets you killed. Softness gets you killed. He learned that lesson as a child, sold into slavery, becoming a child soldier and later a ravager. The boss is feared, gets respect, gets what he wants, is free. In control. He absolutely cannot let go of that control. He simply must be the toughest meanest son of bitch around. Or else he will suffer and die. Sadly that extends to his parenting. Teaching someone to be tough will save their lives. What if.....he was shown another way? Deep down Yondu is a softie. He likes silly dolls on his console (the one quirk he gets away with, an eccentricity which is NOT a weakness), he likes music, he wants Peter to think he's cool. If he was allowed to be soft, he'd be a better dad. On that What if he needs a positive role model. Someone who he respects as super tough, as a boss .....but also has a soft side, shows emotions. (Stakar? Peter would love an unofficial grandparent called the Starhawk, even more so if he teases Yondu on a regular basis).
Then Yondu would give up command. I think the need to project toughness in front of his crew is toxic to himself and secretly he'd like to be rid of the responsibility. (In a shocking trend, I want to write this what if fic. Yondu has to choose between his crew, his position and Peter at a point early on and chooses Peter. Maybe he runs to the Ravagers and breaks down crying at Stakar's feet. He'd still be a scoundrel and thief, but with a smaller ship and a very small crew of just two people) he'd teach Peter all about the craft, has adventures but is a better person and dad because of it.
Other random fic idea: Yondu had a great death in GotG. I don't want to undo that. In IW I wished for a small flashback scene, based on Peter's line of how he's been flying since he was 9 and a 'normal human' to react (I had Scott Lang in mind somehow) by saying 'Which irresponsible moron let a nine year old fly a spaceship?' Cue flashback of Yondu and Peter in a cockpit, Peter sitting on the space version of a thick phone book in order to reach the controls. Both of them are buckled in, in contrast to Kraglin who stumbles in, yelling, complaining that you normally warn the crew when you go through one of the gates. Yondu gets a mischievous look and asks Peter if he heard that. Peter catches on. What did you hear, Yondu? I think I heard Kraglin. Kraglin eyeroll of an exasperated stroppy teenager. I think I heard Kraglin say that he wants to do a barrel roll. Cue Kraglin desperately scrambling for a seat before Peter does exactly that. Adult Peter tells the tale with a fond look. Other normal human looks at him in abject horror, which intensifies as Peter says that he absolutely must tell the story of how he was a getaway driver at the age of 11.

Going to be a long and interesting post, but I wanted to say how I think my OC Echo would be like with my Mutuals GOTG OC's, starting off with Magril by @rxin3akamallory
I already explored this a little bit with that short interaction I wrote, but honestly I could see Echo looking up to Magril like a mentor or parental figure, he would definitely need one and I doubt he would listen to anyone except her and maybe Kraglin. Maybe she feels the same, maybe not, but either way Echo would probably always take her advice to heart like a child would their parents.
Up next is Star by @cleo-is-babygirl
Echo would probably treat Star like a sister honestly, if she asked for it he would do it unconditionally, whether it be a piggyback ride, or to steal some cookies for her, he would do it for her, probably convince him to mess with Rocket a little bit, as long as neither get hurt of course. This brother-sister dynamic probably leads to each of them being defensive of the other in various situations, always willing to back each other up whether it be from a threat to their lives or just some jackass, they'll help each other.
Up next is Akira by @bakaotakulife
Honestly I'm not really certain how Echo would get along with Akira, I mean he would certainly try after a while and maybe he asks her to teach him some fighting skills, but I think Echo would just see her as a training partner/coach for most of the time, maybe occasionally discussing their problems. They do eventually reach the point of being friends, but I see this more as an issue with Echo having a hard time trying to find something to bond about, or being too shy to talk about his interests to her.
Lastly, Dr. Meti Geer by @quietanarchist before I start this one I will say to my other mutuals Meti Geer is a bit of an, interesting person, and innuendos are commonplace in his vocabulary so take that in mind for this.
Echo would be much older by this point, and I imagine Echo wouldn't have met his fellow experiments in this reality, so he probably stumbles upon Meti and Rocket on Knowhere after the first story. Echo probably has Meti help him navigate his own personal issues with his identity and possibly relationship advice, meanwhile Echo would probably act as Meti's personal bodyguard when Rocket isn't around, though they probably spend more time talking about dresses. Echo probably at first has to remind Meti the innuendos make him uncomfortable, and it takes a while before Meti 100% can control his vocabulary around him.

The Ballad of Rocky Raccoon and the Knowhere Man - Masterlist So Far
Hey! Like Rocket? Like long fics? Romance, found family, canon character with an OC, a male OC, more canon characters getting their happily ever afters, even more found family, and a lot more? Hell, like cats? Boy have I got something for you, then! Also posting this because AO3 has been eating my updates alive, so I'm not sure if everyone knows all of these stories are available currently.
Trust that Flowers Will Grow in the Dust - The one that started it all. Raccoon meets cat(like alien). Raccoon and catlike alien get off to a rough start. Fall in love. Save a planet. Like you do. Playlist available here. Rocket-themed playlist available here. Meti-themed playlist available here.
Stand By Me (Through all the Madness) - The sequel. In this one, Rocket and Meti are getting married. But stuff isn't all that simple. Featuring dinosaur aliens, a cult, and Peter finding love with his grandfather's nurse, Owen. Nebula, curiously, also finds love with a nurse. We love and respect nurses in this house. Playlist available here.
Star Man: A Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday - The shorter and more light-hearted holiday special. Rocket and Meti are parents and celebrating their first Christmas with their biological daughter. Some Kraglin, Peter, Adam Warlock, and Phyla love as well. Michael Bublé is kidnapped because nobody learned anything from the last time. Playlist available here.
The Forever and Beautiful - Rocket and Meti's biological daughter is becoming a teenager soon, and has an awful lot of questions. Blackjack O'Hare shows up here, along with some other familiar faces, both loved and reviled. Playlist available here.
The White Album - A series of short stories that couldn't fit into main canon that I still wanted to share.
You've Really Got a Hold on Me - An oddly-sweet E-rated fic. My "thank you" to everyone who has read this far. Meti gets Rocket comfortable with exploring some aspects of himself.
Thank you for reading, and if you're already reading, well... I hope you've been enjoying it. Because I certain have been enjoying getting to write it, and getting to know so many people in the process. <3

I never understood people who claim that Yondu's last words are the script trying to get us to ignore or overlook how Yondu was abusive to Quill. I never saw it that way. The way I see it, that was the script's way of telling us that violence is often a cycle. Some people have shitty parents and become good parents, but some others become shitty parents like the ones they had. Yondu had shitty parents, and he was definitely abusive but he cared about Quill, Kraglin, etc. In the same movie we have Ego, who had no parents, was extremely powerful, yet still ended up being a shitty parent.
This can be applied to other aspects of life - a victim of bullying can never want to put others through that, or they can fail to learn empathy and start bullying others. Sometimes violence is not a cycle, sometimes it is, and it is in us to choose whether we break the cycle or we perpetuate it. It's never too late to make things right, and Yondu used his final moments to realize he had the choice.
Man, I don't know, but his death is hella hard to watch every time.

After watching GOTG 2 again I am struck by how it IS possible to kill a beloved character in a meaningful and hard-hitting way
Yondu was my favourite trashbag pirate dad. Like, it 100% made me sad to see him go, and I'm so tired of the 'death as redemption' trope that I immediately wrote a dozen fix-it fics.
But narratively? It was perfect.
It was a big character moment that brought his arc together. A guy who hid all his fear and trauma behind this act of being the biggest toughest badass around, who pretended he didn't care about anyone but himself, was finally fucking honest about his love for his son and had a really soft, touching, heartfelt moment where he was trying to comfort him while he died.
It was a horrific situation with no other way out. Yondu and Peter had to choose one of them to die, and of course Yondu chose himself, not his kid. It didn't feel contrived, or like a disservice to the characters' intelligence. There really was no other option.
It was dramatic. It was heart-rending. It felt impactful, not least because the film ended with a massive funeral where Yondu's whole adopted family (who Yondu thought he'd pushed away and who hated him forever) showed up to say goodbye.
We had Peter resolving to be a better parental figure to Groot while listening to the music Yondu left him. We had Rocket reflecting on his big 'I see you, you're me' moment with Yondu. We had Peter telling Rocket the Guardians will always love him, even if he - like Yondu - does that Typical Abused Kid Thing and pushes the boundaries of everyone who cares for him to test when they'll snap. We had poor widower Kraglin inheriting Yondu's arrow (and absolutely sucking ass at using it, lmao). Hell, we even had Gamora and Nebula sharing that beautiful, awkward, unpracticed hug.
In short, it was so much better than A Certain Other Death, and rewatching made me grateful for how it was handled

My GOTG OC
soooooo… first of all, good any time of the current day, and here I come to introduce you to one of my many OCs, Lyu.
Full Name: Lyubov Balkirev Age: 28 Gender: Female Sexuality: Straight, Demi-AroAce
Attribute: She has a pair of white retractable wings with some dark spots and a tail of the same colors (usually hides the tail, occasionally shows it, like, it can change the size of her tail and wings).
Example:
Tumblr media
Likes: The smell of air after rain, listening to music, fruits, photography. Dislikes: does not like injustice and being treated as a foolish person.
Abilities: Flying and running very fast, Atmokinesis and can fly carrying people on her back (as long as they are not TOO heavy), advanced animal communication, versatility in combat and mental resistance.
(For Atmokinesis, she usually has to concentrate all her energy and when she finishes using that power she ends up exhausted)
Weaknesses: High emotional sensitivity, excessive caution, need of lonelines (given her ambivert nature, Lya may need periods of solitude to recharge her emotional energy. During these times, she may be less effective in group situations). Items she has most of the time: A voice recorder, her smartphone, headphones and a polaroid camera. Defense item: A scythe.
Tumblr media
She was born on a distant planet called Garmoni, inhabited by people with human characteristics but with bird wings and other characteristics. Specifically she was born in a continent very close to the south pole of the planet, that's why her hair color and feathers and there she grew up normally like any other child, but her parents gave her a lot of freedom, they let her go to run errands alone and that was a mistake, because one day people from another planet kidnapped her and sold her on the black market; but she managed to escape.
After 12 years she was in Contraxia when she met Kraglin in a bar, it was not the best encounter of all but they got to know each other until he introduced her to the crew he belonged to, including Yondu; She did not get along very well with Yondu but in the end she got along with him. She wanted to spend more time with both of them, so she decided to show Yondu her skills and try to convince him to join her to his crew. In the end she managed to convince him and she was part of his crew for quite a while.
After a looong time, when the most of the crew revealed themselves against Yondu she knew it was best to pretend to be on Taserface's side. She helped Yondu get rid of the others. When Yondu died she was devastated for a while until she got over it with difficulty. In the end she stayed with Kraglin, with the Guardians of the Galaxy and there she met Ember (credits to @thirteens-lucky-tardis and thanks for your permission to create an oc that has a relation with your oc) and Lya couldn't believe that she met another individual with wings, they got to know each other and shared a lot of things to finally become friends.
P.D: I based the character on the snow owl

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 - Quickfire Review
Tumblr media
Finally. It's been longer than intended for me to watch this movie, I should've been writing this last week but I had the completely baffling scenario where the cinema people came in and say they 'didn't have the feature'. But finally I went and watched it so here are my quick thoughts on the matter.
Spoilers for the Movie
So I unsurprisingly enjoyed this a lot, I wouldn't say it's the best Guardians film, I think the first still sneaks the top spot, but they are all hits and it's the best MCU film since No Way Home.
I was quite surprised with a lot of things, but Rocket being on death's door for two thirds of the film was the most unexpected, paired with no character dying. I'm not too mad about the latter mind you, it was just surprising.
I read a non-spoiler review though that said that Adam Warlock wasn't in it enough, and while I can see why people may think that, I thought the limited time he had worked in his favour. The infant-like mentality - set up by the Sovereign saying he was awakened early - did add to the comedy and he was never gonna be comic accurate given that Vision stole his whole Infinity Stone shtick. While him joining the new Guardians made sense, I will say that Phyla-Vell felt a little thrown in there though but it was just a mid-credits scene so it won't mean that much.
The High Evolutionary is great though, like pure maniacal god complex, which helps to stand out against other MCU villains who often get painted with a layer of sympathy or manipulation. Chukwudi Iwuji depicted the role brilliantly and if Marvel do get put in a corner with Kang they can easily slot him into the role. For new side characters I also felt that all of Rocket's old buddies did well, Linda Cardellini especially as Lylla.
The plot itself was very emotive, centering mainly around Peter and Rocket being haunted by their past (the former having to also confront Gamora during it all), and Nebula's struggle to express herself. While this did leave Drax, Mantis and Groot to mainly hover around the side, and Cosmo and Kraglin to hover wayyyy far back over the side. Rocket's backstory though is brutal, and Peter's development towards acceptance and seeking out his family on earth was a solid payoff. I do especially like that neither of the daughters of Thanos ended up with Peter at the end, Gamora found her home in the Ravagers yes but she took home some lessons from the Guardians, and Nebula and Peter would've felt a little forced.
While the Guardians splitting at the end makes sense, and Drax getting some respect as a parental figure was nice, I do feel like Mantis going alone was perhaps the most bitter of the group going their separate ways, I enjoyed her character but she wasn't given a lot of substance, and I feel she was a little depowered here compared to when she sedated Ego and Thanos in previous movies. I hope at the least given how Star Lord will at least return that the Guardians will reunite once more, even if it's for another Holiday Special.
Also can't talk about Guardians without the music, and it's quite good, I suppose it's the quality you expect from the film after so many movies. Starting with Creep was a unique call, but I did enjoy them using Dog Days Are Over for the final scenes of the movie. Since You've Been Gone by Rainbow always puts me in a good mood though, mainly because of the Pot Noodle commercial that used the song.
I could probably dig into it more, but this is meant to be 'quickfire' and this is the eighth paragraph so in conclusion, really good movie, it has emotional weight and comedy, its focus on animal cruelty does make you pensive, the new characters were fun, and the conclusion will leave you content but also hopeful, despite Gunn setting sights on rebooting the DC universe, to see the group again.

I like how Rocket just adopted a bunch of kids with powers + kraglin at the end of Vol 3. He really said, "I'll be your [parent] now" and Groot got siblings!
I also want to see Rocket adopt Nova and train him like in the comics. Rocket is the professor X of space.
I didn’t know Rocket trains Nova in the comics, that’s pretty neat!
Also yeah, along with the kids he seems to have adopted a bunch of baby raccoons too.
Oml it’s so trippy to think that Groot does have siblings since this Groot remembers being raised by Rocket even though Rocket has a TON of memories of the old one. I wonder if he thinks about him often AAAAAA
But yeah Rocket turned super soft by the end of vol 3 ‘adopting’ all the children from HE. That’s kinda why I like setting my fics to be post-vol 3.

Meredith, handing Yondu the phone: It’s Kraglin, he wants advice.
Yondu, taking it: Mhm? Just snap his kneecaps and he'll talk, we’re at a parent-teacher conference. *Hangs up*
Teacher:
Meredith: Anyway, you said Peter's enjoying finger painting! That's great!
