idk man i know times are hard but i can't help but feel that watcher putting all their eggs in the basket that is their own streaming service is a bad call. like sure i totally get wanting a platform where you have full control both creatively and financially but i feel they might be misjudging how much loyalty non-hardcore fans might have for what they're creating. in every internet fandom there's a subsection of people willing to pay with actual money to support the creators they enjoy, and that's what services like patreon are for. but to expect that casual viewers will sign up and pay a monthly fee to get access to just watcher content when a large portion of them were likely just watching the content because it was free and accessible on youtube assumes that someone who isn't a diehard fan won't just go "oh well" and find something else on youtube that IS still free? that seems like a miscalculation to me. the massive fanbases online content creators have may literally be only possible because the content is available to anyone-- it seems foolish to assume that every single one of those fans is going to stick around once you try to upsell them.
i hope this new venture goes well for the watcher crew. I really do. but i also know that a lot of brands and startups that bank on the loyalty they earned when their product was free or low cost and expect that to sustain them while they try to do something that historically has not gone well for the vast majority of businesses. at best, they'll have halved their fanbase by alienating those who can't or don't want to pay and made it much more difficult for remaining fans to create fandom products like memes or gifs that promote their shows on social media. at worst, they'll discover in the near future the independent streaming service model is unsustainable with only the fans they have left and by that point they'll have already deleted themselves from youtube and made it impossible to come back to the level of success they had before. any attempt to return to youtube will be an admission of a critical miscalculation and i doubt many remaining fans will tolerate the back and forth. they'll have crippled their credibility, relevancy, and fanbase loyalty over a very short period of time-- and i don't know if it would even be possible to come back and still be beloved after all that.
worst of all-- if the watcher streaming service crashes and burns after they've already removed all their content from youtube, all the watcher shows are essentially going to become lost media, only accessible via reuploaders willing to risk a copy strike or if you know someone who has a copy downloaded. given how genuinely good the watcher content is in the sea of lackluster youtube mush, that really seems like a damn shame.
i hope the watcher team sees how everyone is responding and decides to course correct before it's too late and get away with only the hit to their reputation that they've already taken by announcing this, instead of pushing forward on a path that might lose them everything instead. nothing i've said here is with any hate intended toward anyone involved or those who are excited about the new service, but this just seems like a really ill-advised decision to me.

So how would you describe the indigo tribe.
as one of THE most interesting & underutilized groups in the dcu. it drives me crazy how little's been done with them since their introduction. along with the star sapphires and red lanterns, they're probably my favorite lantern corps
everything about the setup of the emotional spectrum takes all your expectations and flips them on their head, and the indigos are one of the best examples of how that works and why it works so well.
if there was going to be some sort of thesis statement for the concept of the spectrum, it would be that there are no "positive" or "negative" emotions. even something as seemingly entirely “bad” as rage can be beneficial in extreme circumstances, and, as with the indigos, even something as seemingly entirely “good” as compassion can be pretty horrific when taken to an extreme
indigo rings aren't given to people who have overwhelming compassion the way green rings are given to people who have overwhelming willpower. they're given to people who have an overwhelming lack of compassion
the indigo tribe is made up of the most sadistic villains in the universe who’ve been essentially imprisoned by an indigo ring, which forces them to feel constant, overwhelming compassion, guilt and remorse for everything they’ve done along with the emotions of everyone around them, and this was explicitly NOT done with the intent to "redeem" or help them
Tumblr media
(Green Lantern (2011) #9)
there was like... next to nothing benevolent about the way the light of "compassion" was harnessed, and idk! the idea of compassion and empathy as something that's not inherently pure and good all the time in all circumstances but instead something that can actually be harmful and downright horrifying when abused is something that's so rarely explored. the fact that that's basically the core concept of the indigos is just SO INTERESTING to me
the indigo tribe was basically created to be cannon fodder for the blackest night, and compassion is essentially being used as a torture device and a means to keep them in line and under control
they’re forced to feel for others to such an extreme that it renders them literally selfless. there’s just nothing left of them. when black hand was converted, he talked about himself in the third person and past tense and said the indigo ring "rid the universe of him"
Tumblr media
(Green Lantern (2005) #59)
a line iroque says implies they're being constantly forced to feel every bit of the pain they inflicted on their victims
Tumblr media
(Green Lantern (2005) #46)
despite feeling everything, indigos never emote. their diction is always completely flat and their expressions are always entirely blank. they speak in very blunt, factual statements and only ever talk about emotion in relation to what other people are feeling. we never hear anything about what they're feeling or thinking.
Tumblr media
(Green Lantern (2011) #8)
they're forced to channel the feelings of everyone and everything and feel such constant, overwhelming pain and guilt for everything they've done that they're completely stripped of all their own emotion and left completely detached from the person they were, held in a state of complete emotional exhaustion, and left as basically just an empty vessel only capable of reflecting other people’s emotions back at them
Tumblr media
(Green Lantern (2011) #8 ... ft an incorrectly placed speech bubble in the middle of the bottom row)
it's notable that unlike pretty much other corps, there doesn't seem to be a set "uniform" with the indigos. they stay in whatever they had on when they were captured. the indigos that have been there longer are wearing nothing but tattered rags, which kinda makes it seem like they're made to care so little about their own well-being and see themselves as such a non-person that they haven't even thought to change clothes once in the years (if not decades) since they were made an indigo lantern
Tumblr media
(Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps #1)
the only consistency between them other than the indigo tribe symbol is a heavy shackle around their neck. their base is a massive dungeon. they're literally being held captive by hyperempathy
EVERYTHING about them is so incredibly interesting, and there's so much potential here for some really good stories
seriously, those few pages in the indigo tribe arc where their power battery was destroyed, all their rings were deactivated, and all the indigos reverted back to their true selves was more compelling than pretty much everything that's been done in every green lantern book since rebirth combined
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Green Lantern (2011) #9)
this shit was SO GOOD. listen, there's a lot to criticize about johns and the changes he made, don't get me wrong, but there's plenty of good there, too. it drives me insane that writers since have opted to mostly just completely ignore everything he did that was actually interesting in favor of fixating on the worst aspects of it
THIS is the stuff that made johns’s gl good despite its flaws imo, and it's what writers should be building on instead of just obsessing over the most polarizing parts. why do we have 900 issues talking about the parallax retcon or john being a marine when we could be expanding on stuff like this instead!! please!!!

While I do definitely wholly agree that no perspective or technique is universally useful and helpful for everyone, I definitely think there is value in being open to the perspectives and techniques that we've dismissed in a limited and specific way when we struggle.
For instance, I use parts language and view the system, including myself as a part as all being part of a collective singular me. It's why I tend not to use we/us a lot. I, and the other mes take ownership of all actions taken by petty much everyone in the system because this creates a sense of cohesion and continuality that allow us to function. It reduces daily amnesia because we're not constantly trying to distance ourselves from each other and generally reduces friction around decisions trusting that they're made with the system in mind rather than personally for each part. HOWEVER, I've always hated myself. I have incredibly negative opinions about who I am and punish myself a lot for just being me or not being a better version of me. Any mistakes I make are treated with severe prejudice and I don't accept nice things because I feel like I don't deserve them.
I would never treat anyone else like that though, I wouldn't think these things about a friend. And so for these issues it IS useful to view my parts as completely separate people, to think of them as friends or colleagues or family, because I can show them the compassion I cannot show myself. If an alter fucks up or does something harmful I can remember that they come from a history of pain and isolation, I can understand their actions and forgive them, think about what they might need from me to heal and help them move on because I truly believe that everyone is deserving of rehabilitation.
Sometimes though, I have to reverse engineer this situation. Often an issue with persecutors is that they feel rejected, their actions and behaviours were once a helpful coping mechanism but when our lives changed and we moved on it became less and less appropriate to do those things. They get stuck doing the only thing they know how to do and become increasingly frustrated that it's no longer working or being appreciated by the system. They're hostile to everyone else because they've been treated with hostility and aren't open to reconciliation because by that time it's like "oh what? Now you want to talk? Fuck you". To write them off is to confirm what they think about themselves. That they're bad and evil and so what's the point in getting better because they don't deserve compassion or acceptance from the system. Sound familiar?
So what do I do? Well, from my distanced perspective I then have to approach it with curiosity. Why might I behave this way? What scenario might lead me to do these things? What environment might convince me that this is a necessary thing to do? Can I find empathy with this position or similarities? Could that be a point of connection through which to make a connection? To show that I truly understand what they're going through and genuinely want to help?
Or even, am I subconsciously a willing participant in this dynamic? I hate myself, right? Do I think I deserve these things to do be done to me? At one point in time is this behaviour what I thought showing love was? Is this what it meant to be cared for to me back then? Does this situation feel safer to me in a way because pain and suffering is the devil I know?
In Existential Kink, Carolyn Elliott believes that we create painful scenarios for ourselves because our brains desire a more complete human experience, the good with the bad, and the more we conciously reject and resent the bad the more we desire it and create badness for ourselves. It is only by accepting this desire and gratifying ourselves by enjoying it and being grateful for the terrible things that happen that we can move on and seek out the good. Which is...definitely one of the takes of all time. I definitely take issues with the implications of victim blaming that are prevalent throughout her book, but there is insight to be drawn for sure. And in fact, the number one recommended approach to a persecutor is gratitude. To thank them for doing what they do, to show them that they're appreciated for their role and what they're trying to do, because from that position it may very well be more possible to provide constructive criticism. You have to mean it though, because by living in your head they can usually tell your true feelings.
And I completely understand why that might feel impossible to do when you feel like what they do is unforgivable, but there's a very important lesson that everyone needs to learn if they want to grow. And that's that sometimes it is up to us to take responsibility for a situation, even when we really shouldn't have to, even when it so completely isn't our fault or fair in the slightest. If what a persecutor needs to feel to change their behaviour is gratitude and acceptance, to feel that they really are a vital part of the system just like everyone else, and by providing this for them we can make things better for ourselves and the rest of the system, to create a net positive effect on all regards, then... shouldn't we? Not because of some moral duty to do the right thing or be the better person, but simply because things would be better?
Like, if there's a $1000 dollars on a table that's free for you to take, if you don't take it then no one will get it, it's only there for you to take or not with no judgement or consequences either way even if you feel like there will be, would you really not take it? And if not, then why? Do you think it's a trick? Do you think that you don't deserve it? You see how these all loop around and connect to each other?
This post is long and confusing because these situations are complicated and don't have any simple answers. All I'm trying to highlight and urge everyone to do is to never stop being curious. Always ask yourself questions, always approach something from a different angle. Especially when you come across obstacles that feel impossible. If anything that I've said feels completely wrong to you, rather than dismissing it as not being applicable to you ask yourself why you feel like it doesn't? If your persecutor is actually irredeemable and evil but mine are not, what makes you different than me? Is it easier for you to think that because then you don't have to put in the work? Does it make you feel special to have a kind of persecutor someone else doesn't? If what I'm saying right now offends you, is there a possibility, however small you think it may be, that deep down it might be true?
No, I don't think you can say for certain that every persecutor is a misguided protector, but what if the one you've decided definitely isn't actually is? What if you're wrong about them? What if you can fix it and make things better? Shouldn't you try? Why not?

As I climbed out of my bunker 20 years after the impending presidential victory of one Ralph Nader and the imminent opening of FEMA camps for corvair owners, I was surprised by three things: Firstly, Nader hadn't won and by some fluke that Ivy League texan boy had taken the presidency, using his newfound power to knock down those ugly towers in New York. Secondly, everyone around me was real worried about sneezing, and thirdly: people were mad about the police again. Well, that really wasn't a surprise as much as the fact that they had started forecasting a beautiful future in which there were no cops to pull me over for unleashing the full power of the GM flat six on public roadways like some sort of twisted star spangled Rat-Fink porsche ripoff taking high speed turns without even a hint of flipping over (you hear that Ralph?). Well, no flipping over other than for the normal reasons.
Those same people did end up calling the local constabulary on me as strange lights flickered on in the abandoned house next door and a dark figure began unearthing the many covairs he'd buried two decades ago in the back yard, but that's not the point. The real takeaway from this is that there exists the cultural impetus to create a future in which I do not receive speeding tickets for acceleration above the arbitrary number marked on the school zone sign (efforts by a tyrannical government to shield children from the truth of superior acceleration in rear engined cars).
The doughnut patrol eventually showed up, and did so in a veritable tank of a machine: the Ford Explorer, now optimized for plowing through crowds. This is that militarization of police everyone was talking about. They've ditched the hardworking American sedan in favor of these monstrosities better suited for hunting down and destroying anything rear engine, air cooled. This is why Porsche switched to watercooling in the 911, I just know it.
While the badged imbecile droned at me about my IDs expiring in 2003, I began to zone out, imagining what a properly modern police vehicle for the new decade should look like. None of this Humvee nonsense (though I'm pleased to see they never stopped making them), this would be a practical machine for the hypothetical "good" law enforcement officer not hell bent on stopping my corvair excavations.
Though a euro-styled wagon is an easy answer for police duty cars, there comes a time when we must acknowledge that those are mainly built for apprehending pocketknife-wielding arms dealers and have very little of the built in ego and power complexes required by State Police officers who protect their communities by hassling me about the legality of my high speed "shakedown runs" and the subsequent exhaust parts left scattered on the local highway.
No, what the American policeman needs is something that can tackle roads in any condition, with plenty of storage space for bulk orders of constitutional violations (and the remains of my exhaust), and a reliable powerplant that balances fuel efficiency and the desire to go fast sometimes (Idle in mall parking lots a lot). The answer is an all-wheel drive mid-sized hatchback with enough space to house my rear bumper once that comes off too. Which is to say the cops need an American OEM Impreza Hatchback.
Of course the closest American equivalent I could think of in a pinch was the Ford Pinto, which seemed to put him off. The ensuing chase was brief but not necessarily fast. Turns out the militarization of police extended to vests that don't protect you from sudden drops, but didn't extend so far as to cover standard issue night vision that would've detected the deep holes I'd been digging. Probably a good thing I buried those Corvairs so deep.

✨Something you absolutely adore✨
"having a romantic picnic" (FFXIV) a valentine's day prompt for corishtola! a little picnic that doesn't quite go to plan. pre-relationship but there's been romance there since the beginning. i like rereading this one because i just think it's really cute
Y’shtola opened her eyes, and her hand closed over their fingers on her cheek. “There is no need to apologize. I enjoyed the rest, brief though it was. One could hardly argue that we do not deserve it.” “Oh?” Corisande said with a smile. She swept her thumb across her cheek once more and Y’shtola blinked, as if realizing for the first time just how close they were. “Did you not argue with me all morning about taking the afternoon off? Or was that someone else I practically had to drag from all the books she brought with her, ‘just in case?’” “Before you begin casting stones, pray tell how many books you brought,” Y’shtola said, a smile playing on her lips.
✨Something that was challenging to create✨
figure my heart out (Wayfarer) tbh the title is kind of a hint to why it was challenging lol Mirren's feelings for Aeran and how that leads to her making out with Veyer in public are very complicated!
Veyer kisses her, their body pressing her against the stone archway. They’re speaking to her in between kisses, but she can’t concentrate on the words, and not only because she is too preoccupied with their lips against her neck. The truth is you need me more than I need you, you always do— She pulls them closer, fingers clutching at their jacket. She wants this. She can prove to herself that he wasn’t right, that she doesn’t need him—someone who keeps things from her, someone who shot her—more than he needs her. She can go through with this, can keep kissing them, can let them lead her away from the gallery for more. If Aeran saw her right now, he would know, too. If Aeran saw her right now…
✨Something that makes you laugh (or smile, if that fits more comfortably) ✨
A Barn in a Blizzard (FFXIV) the very first ffxiv fic I wrote! it sets up the basis for Corisande and Haurchefant's friendship (Corisande being a regular visitor to the Camp Dragonhead chocobo stables) and their romance. The fic itself makes me smile but the title is a little joke based on the idea of Haurchefant being her "port in a storm" and it makes me laugh when I remember it.
He gestured to a nearby stall where Cilantro had burrowed down in the warm hay, snug in his fluffy winter barding. “He certainly seems well taken care of.” Corisande smiled. She loved to dote on Cilantro and did her best to provide him with everything he needed and more. “He cares for me enough to follow me into this weather, despite how much he despises the cold.” “A strong devotion, indeed,” Haurchefant said, glancing down at her with a smile. “You seem to inspire that in people.”
✨Something that surprised you (in how it turned out, how much other people liked it, etc.) ✨
“You’re still awake. Something on your mind?” (FFXIV) Corisande wakes up and finds Haurchefant still working, they try to keep him on task but he's got other things in mind...the surprise is that I did not intend for it to lead anywhere suggestive when I started writing but it did and I liked it! and there might be a part 2 on ao3
“A bit late in the day to be reviewing reports, isn’t it? Something on your mind?” “Nothing all too important,” he says. He straightens in his chair and grasps their fingers in his. “I was awake and thought to pass the time by clearing a few reports that seem to have fallen to the wayside.” “Do you do all your paperwork in the middle of the night?” she teases, pressing a kiss to his temple to make up for the jest.
✨Something you want other people to see✨
"slow dancing in the living room" (FFXIV) another Corishtola Valentine's Day prompt (I wrote most of my FFXIV fics in Jan/Feb lmao) I just like this one because of the Pining. and Cori doesn't even know it yet. and poor Y'shtola in love with the most oblivious person in Eorzea.
The song began to slow, growing soft and almost melancholic. Y’shtola drew away, fingers slipping from their grasp, but they tightened their grip before she could slip free entirely. She paused her retreat, tilting her head in confusion as she looked back at them. “Just until the end of the song,” they said, pulling her back toward them. She came easily enough, though she opened her mouth to protest. Corisande put a hand on her waist and she stilled under the touch. “I promise.”

ADHD and Comorbid conditions
What is a comorbid condition?
Comorbid conditions are those conditions that occur along with another condition. A lot of people with ADHD have other conditions that occur with it. These conditions add to the challenges of ADHD and make treatment even harder and more complex.
What kinds of conditions are often comorbid with ADHD?
Many things can be comorbid with ADHD. Many people with ADHD also have anxiety, depression, autism, sensory processing disorders, learning disabilities, chronic pain conditions such as migraine and fibromyalgia, and even bipolar disorder. Many things can occur together so the list can kind of be endless.
My own comorbidities:
My own ADHD is comorbid with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Fibromyalgia, PTSD, Migraine, and Dyscalculia (the math learning disability or "math dyslexia") and I also believe I have some sensory issues. This makes life very difficult for me, it causes an avalanche of challenges that just compound with each other to create a perfect storm of issues to be treated. Treatment for me is very complicated and this adds to the stress and challenges in my life.
ADHD and comorbid conditions challenges:
Having ADHD and comorbid conditions causes a lot of challenges that interfere with your life. With ADHD your executive function and working memory are challenged. If you add Generalized Anxiety Disorder, migraine, fibromyalgia, and Bipolar disorder to it they are even more challenged so things like hobbies, housework, careers, relationships, learning, cooking, and more are impaired by them. It is hard enough remembering things and focusing long enough to get through all the steps of a task with ADHD alone, each condition you add to it makes it even harder to remember, focus, and sustain motivation to complete activities you need to get done. It can be hard to remember all the chores you need to do around your house from beginning to end, especially if they have more than one step to them like laundry does. At work, it can be hard to complete projects that have many steps to them, and it can be hard to focus through an entire meeting or multiple meetings. Often times people with ADHD and comorbid conditions spend time at work returning to the printer several times because they've forgotten to grab their printout more than once, or having to ask people to repeat instructions or resend emails to them a lot because they forgot what it said and accidentally already deleted it from their inbox.
Organizing for those of us with ADHD and comorbid conditions can be extremely difficult. It can seem like a magic trick when other people organize their homes, desks, bags, purses, etc. Another thing that happens is that we can organize for a day or so and then the clutter begins to return. One thing I have extreme difficulty with is keeping my desk and apartment from ending up full of piles. That is my default organization system, put it in a pile.
One thing I and a lot of other people with ADHD and comorbid conditions struggle with is finances. For those of us with both ADHD and dyscalculia, numbers are like a foreign language, we just cannot wrap our brains around them. This makes budgeting and dealing with money very hard. It can be hard for us to recognize amounts and this leads us to issues knowing how much money we actually have in our bank accounts, add to this ADHD's impulsivity and you have a recipe for disaster. We often have overdrawn bank accounts, unpaid or late-paid bills, and seem to never have enough money coming in to cover what goes out. And budgeting is a concept our brains just cannot seem to grasp very well, it's like asking someone to do calculus who hasn't even taken algebra yet.
For those of us with ADHD and dyscalculia, calculus is a math we never made it to in school, we likely got stuck in algebra or geometry so we were never eligible to take that course. For me, even elementary/middle school math was difficult, let alone algebra and higher math courses. I barely passed prealgebra with a D, and I scraped by in algebra with a C. I also managed a C in geometry and at that point, I had enough math credits to graduate high school and was unable to get into trigonometry, which was the next class after geometry. The only math I took in college was economics, statistics, and math of finance. I had to get a tutor for all 3 of them. I managed to pass with a C in economics and statistics and I somehow got a low B in math of finance. Math is just difficult. It's literally like learning Greek or something for me, a whole other extremely difficult-to-learn language.
Treatment for ADHD and comorbid conditions:
Treatment for people with both ADHD and comorbid conditions is complex and multilayered. It does not work to treat just the ADHD and not the other conditions. Treatment needs to address all of the issues, from ADHD to Bipolar Disorder, to Fibromyalgia, Dyscalculia, Migraine, Anxiety, and PTSD to work. If you leave any of them untreated, that untreated disorder will undermine the others. You also have to be careful with what you treat things with so that the treatment for anxiety doesn't exacerbate the ADHD, the ADHD treatment doesn't aggravate the anxiety, and the treatments for those don't exacerbate the Bipolar Disorder, etc.
Closing:
Having ADHD and comorbid conditions is a complex, multilayered situation that requires a variety of different approaches to treat and manage well. It has a huge impact on the life of the person who has them and it takes a lot of work and finesse to manage life with them. Life is complicated with these conditions altogether but it can still be fulfilling and joyful. Stay tuned to My ADHD Chronicles for more great information and insight into ADHD and how to live with it.

My inspirations!
My biggest inspiration, by far, is Just Roll With It. It's a TTRPG podcast that is just so good at every aspect of story telling! Every single campaign they've done I've cried out of some kind of emotion that they make me feel. The characters are all incredible! Gillion Tidestrider is probably my favourite and everyone after that is just a close second and they're all tied with each other because they're all so amazing in their own ways.
Wildcard specifically was actually inspired most The Trickster from Prime Defenders. The story of exactly how that came to happen is a little silly and for another time. You'd think with the multiple forms and changing personality gimmick that I'd have been most inspired by Vyncent and yes there's a lot of similarities but I want to make the distinction here and now that every form Wildcard takes is still Charlie at heart. They do not become a completely different person, it just changes the way their emotions work. At their core it's still the same person.
Thank you Mutants and Masterminds for being the system I used to create Wildcard's character sheet back when I was in denial and thought I'd just play them as a character in a campaign despite having no friends available at the time to DM such a campaign. I also use those character sheets to get a good idea of building and balancing all the heroes and villains in the world (although there will be plenty of leniency based on what I think is cool and fits the story).
I've also, definitely taken a lot of inspiration from the Spiderverse films, which might come across more once the first part of the story is released. Those movies are perfection the characters are incredible the story they're telling is innovative and fresh while still falling into the feeling of a Spiderman story. I love Gwen I love Miles I love Pav I love Mayday I love Peter I love the Spot I love Miguel and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hobie! One of the characters in my story that I'm yet to speak about yet is very similar to Hobie and I'm so excited and I love the parallels and as I write them I'm definitely gonna be pulling so much from Spiderverse Hobie's personality. Spiderman in general (most versions of them) is my favourite superhero so there will probably be a lot in my head that I don't recognise I'm taking from Spider people stories but I'm just gonna make the sweeping statement now that there will likely be similarities. I will not, however, be going into multiverse or time travel stories, at least not in the main canon story, maybe I'll do a weird little "what if" after I finish telling my story where a "balanced" and fused Wildcard meets a "corrupted" and vibrant Wildcard.
Shout-out to Marvel in general, comics and movies, I've seen a lot of that stuff so again, it'll probably just leak in without me realising.
This helps me when I'm struggling to let myself write
Finally, a big thank you to all my friends who encourage/enable (in the bad way) me. I am on my shit and my shit is telling an intricate story that I am very passionate about with characters who I love and care for. Namely, all 3 of my friends on that one discord server where I first infodumped about Wildcard, Hazel, for helping me build the character sheet and helping me come up with names and also letting me info dump to you, and Mimi, for basically the same reasons as Hazel, as well as being the first person I made a superhero story for (we did an introductory session of DnD in a superhero setting. Her character will be making a cameo at some point most likely). Also everyone who's tried to help me learn how to draw because I'm not gonna lie, my only motivation there was drawing characters for this story.

Is Galaxy's Edge at Disneyland Worth it? My Two Cents
Since @incorrectpizza was asking, I'm throwing this together cause I've had some words to say about it for a long time.
First off, the project went through multiple layers of Disney Imagineers wanting to create something new and different that allowed them to worldbuild their own new planet without directly drawing on any of the canon movies/shows/books/games. They were also drawing upon shared experiences in middle eastern bazaars. (Source: Documentary about building it that you can watch on Disney+). It was created by Star Wars geeks, for people who may or may not be Star Wars fans. The "may not be" is sort of important here.
Second, I'll say, the first time I walked in I cried with joy. I've been several, several times ever since. As the magic has worn down I've been able to identify a few things. I'll list the good and the bad here.
A. World Environment:
The cons: Because it was built for people who may not be Star Wars fans (aka Disneyland/Disneyworld visitors who are just meandering around the park) it's built to give people a sense that they are somewhere else, and able to identify a few key elements, without necessarily requiring that you know anything about Star Wars at all. They didn't want to give anyone the sense that you couldn't walk in without watching more than 1 movie. This becomes a devastating downfall because other than the literal actual Millennium Falcon or a speeder here, and a first order banner there, there's really no identifying elements. The place is identified as "Black Spire Outpost" which exists only, and ONLY, within the Disney Parks and is not shown within any media. This gives longtime fans nothing to connect to, and nothing much to identify. There's very little to tell that you're supposed to be in a Star Wars environment. My personal opinion is it would have been better had they taken the Universal Studios route and built an environment directly from the Harry Potter movies, giving fans the feeling that they are walking the same streets and seeing the same sights as their favorite characters. It's been a huge success for them and I think that magic is what Galaxy's Edge is missing. I digress.
The Pros: All that said, it's insanely beautiful especially at night. There's so much detail in how they weathered everything and there is Aurebesh literally everywhere, to the point that very little is actually in English. Which is very cool if you're a geek like me that knows how to read it. There are little (and I mean little) nods and easter eggs for fans throughout, but I feel like if I wasn't such a big fan I wouldn't be able to identify them. It's definitely nice to walk through and even though my Mom isn't a fan, she still admires it a lot.
B. Music and sounds:
The cons: They don't play any soundtrack music. Nothing that's been in the media. It's meant to immerse you in the "environment" so it's mostly animal noises and stuff that's supposed to sound alien.
The pros: There's a cool "sound/song" that plays when you enter, like a musical swell, that's signaling that you're entering a new area. I still think that part is cool and it did make me emotional the first time I walked through that "sound."
C. Characters
The cons: There just aren't a lot of characters walking around. There's no aliens. No droids. I've heard they've improved a little bit, and have been adding here and there. But for someplace that's supposed to be so foreign, there's just not enough cast members walking around.
The pros: The cast members and characters that you do see, if you're lucky, are good and you can have fun with them. They have good behaviors, their costumes are great, and are well trained. Being able to see Mando with baby Grogu who is cooing and greeting visitors? Come on, it's so cute. Stormtroopers from the First Order messed with my mom once. It was great. You encounter First Order "employees" a lot on the Rise of the Resistance ride and I always giggle at how they never break character. They're so mean and serious and it's so great to me.
D. The Rides
The cons: There's only two. Honestly not much complain about other than there's not much else to do outside of just these two. There's the Millennium Falcon and the Rise of the Resistance ride. The con about Millennium Falcon is they load the ride in parties of 6, and each person will have a "task" to make the ship fly. If you don't have a party of 6, you're completely at the mercy of the strangers doing their job. The flight is very realistic. If someone in your party misses their queue, it will affect the flight and you will crash. You're allowed a certain amount of damage before your flight crashes to the ground dramatically and your ride ends. The longer you can stay in the air, the longer your experience will be, and the smoother your flight will be. My only gripe about Rise of the Resistance is that the line is so long.
The pros: Insanely cool. The Millennium Falcon is really is a gem in that they've built sooooo so much detail into it. It's so cool. Lots of fun photo spots. You feel like you're really actually in the real thing!! Despite what I said about flying with strangers, when everyone is into it and you're working well together, you'll have a good time. And Rise of the Resistance is the peak of Disney's high tech capabilities across their global projects. It's amazing, I can't say enough about it. Just the feeling, the immersion, it wasn't open when Galaxy's Edge first opened and it's honestly what it was seriously lacking in that "immersive" and "emotional" aspect. I can ride this stuff again and again. I never get tired of it. And honestly, again, my mom is NOT into Star Wars or scifi and Rise of the Resistance is her favorite, she has to ride it every time we're in the park. Sidenote: I still think the best time to ride is at night! It just looks so beautiful at night.
E. The Food:
The Cons: There's not a whole lot of variety, but this is scarcely a huge con considering the variety of foods you can find throughout the rest of the park. Also if your diet is sensitive, or you have allergies, you may have some difficulty. There's also not a whole lot of seating, and this is a big con for the rest of Galaxy's Edge. I complained about it in a survey I received and coincidentally noticed them putting in some new seating, so they are gradually working on it, but for my family of 6 sometimes we struggle. Also, the blue milk is overrated. I prefer the green milk. Both are made with coconut milk, which isn't my favorite, so that's a favorite for some, but a sad dislike for me. Also it's overpriced for a small cup size. So just know that.
The Pros: Docking Bay 7 is one of my favorite places to eat in the park. And the Cantina I have not been to yet because it requires reservations that you literally have to book in the morning just to eat at dinner. I've heard nothing but good things about it though. To me, all the food in Galaxy's Edge is tasty. Also if you're buying a soda like a Coca-Cola or Sprite from a beverage stand, they serve them in the coolest little collector cups and are the same price as they are in the rest of the park, so if you're in a soda mood, buy them there instead of elsewhere in Disneyland.
F. The Activities:
The Cons: So expensive! If you're planning to build a droid or a custom lightsaber, keep in mind that they may be reservation-required experiences and they are $200 each. Please check online before you go. The other con is that there's not much else to do.
The Pros: They put so much thought into these experiences. I built a custom lightsaber and it was 100% worth it. I cried, and as I looked around the room at the climax of the experience, I won't spoil it but everyone else in the room was crying too!! That's how beautiful and thoughtful it was. You can bring 1 friend with you for free as long as they aren't participating, although they can help you. This applies to building a droid as well.
G. The Shopping:
The cons: It was intended to be "bazaar-like" but it doesn't really come off that way. Little, if any, is actually Star Wars branded. Again, they wanted you to feel like you were actually visiting somewhere far away, so the merch is mostly just Black Spire Outpost branded and there isn't much "Star Wars" merch. (If you do want Star Wars merch, I'm not sure for DisneyWorld but at least for Disneyland, the shop attached to Star Tours has tons of exclusive Star Wars merch that makes up for it.)
The pros: Exclusive merch that's mostly good quality. They have differing shops based on category, and it's spread out so it's not too overwhelming. This also eliminates long line. I've returned las Galaxy's Edge just for a specific BD-1 desk topper at the droid-themed shop, and then ran to the lightsaber parts shop, and I was able to get in and out of both stores very quickly.
The Final Rating: 6/10
Overall, for a Star Wars fan, it's a wonderful experience. Yes I have my gripes, but I still return each time. I can't say the cons outweigh the pros. I think major improvements would improve overall impression and foot traffic. That said. I think it's something every Star Wars fan should experience at least once!
Here's some photos for extra measure

ask game: 9 & 10
-- feddy-fagbear
Yay thanks for sending an ask :D I'll be doing just the 1986 movie for this because that's what this blog is about and the play is dead to me
9. Don't Feed the Plants, the director's cut is also canon to the movie so this counts. This song is the only reason I prefer the theatrical cut ending over the director's cut ending, the movie shows us a guy who really doesn't have a choice in 'feeding the plant' because if he stopped he and his gf would be doomed to poverty and that makes 'feeding the plant' a good metaphor for the evils of capitalism, like we all have to contribute to/buy from/work for companies that exploit people and the environment and/or depend on those that do to survive in capitalist societies (or at the very least the US, it definitely seems to be the primary focus of Little Shop's critique of capitalism given how much Don't Feed the Plants focuses on America) and you can't simply decide to opt out of that/stop feeding the plants as an individual, the bedrock of society needs to be altered through collective action so that people are no longer forced to 'feed the plants' to live, Seymour's situation with the plant is kind of a dramatization of this where he's directly feeding people to a plant instead of indirectly contributing to exploitation that harms people and the environment and that works well but then Don't Feed the Plants doesn't mesh with... the movie we just watched at all, like cool you've just given the audience completely inactionable and victim-blaming advice great job, I'll be sure to simply not contribute to capitalism next time
Also the plants should've been stationary, that would've been a better use of Little Shop's unique premise and made Don't Feed the Plants more interesting, there could've been a more gradual plantpocalypse where people are desperate to find them before they've grown too large to be able to be taken down and then once one's become established in an alley or something somewhere the surrounding area has to be vacated and there's tons of disruption to society because of this, it would be better than making the plants generic monsters imo
10. I haven't read all of the Little Shop fanfics out there but I've seen Audrey be mischaracterized so much, she's not a delicate emotional wreck who cries every five seconds she's the strongest goddamn character in the movie, she's been through so much horrific abuse and still manages to 1. try to not make Seymour worried about her by getting away from him and 2. crack multiple gallows humory jokes (which also partially ties into that first point, like she's trying to make her situation seem less bad by making jokes about it so he won't be worried about her) while her life is falling apart and she's reeling with guilt, admittedly she cries a few times in my latest fic but to be fair she's dealing with the love of her life being slowly killed by a parasite in that one and I emphasized her strength/take charge attitude so yeah, also portrayals of her being disturbed by the revelation that Seymour killed Orin and Mr. Mushnik are particularly egregious when in the director's cut ending she 1. didn't care and if anything was impressed/grateful and 2. reacted so casually to this 'revelation' that it creates an implication that she had already figured it out, not the part where he fed them to the plant but the part where he killed them

Can you talk to me at length about harpoons used in whaling? I recently became enamored with them. Its just so... shaped. It's big, sharp, strong, lightweight, and very useful in mundane situations! What's not to love? I really like harpoons and I wish i can learn how to use them or at least looked at hd pictures of it online and learn all of its varied forms throughout the centuries.
Oh I certainly can haha!
I'll preface this in saying that I'll talk about the design of some harpoons used in the U.S. commercial fishery during my very narrow first-half-of-the-19th-c window of focus, with the acknowledgement that they've been used for thousands of years by indigenous people all over the world, and the acknowledgement that other forms of 19th/early 20th c harpoons existed in the commercial fishery like bomb lances and harpoon guns. This post won't go into exploring any of those because it'll be long enough as it is!
They're so big. At a place I used to work at I was once taken into a vault where we had a lot of them and it took my EVERYTHING not to touch them. The iron itself was 2-4 ft long, and then it was fitted into a wooden pole that was 5-6ft long.
These 1920s photos, courtesy of the New Bedford Whaling Museum, can give a sense of how they were handled.
Tumblr media
This was taken by William Tripp of whaler Philip Gomes, who was a boatsteerer on the bark Wanderer.
Tumblr media
And here's an image from Down to the Sea in ships, a 1920s silent film. The man in the boat is actor Raymond Mckee, but while it was a fictional drama it also functioned as part documentary, containing footage of actual whaling processes.
The driving force of the harpoon was one's back hand pushing forward to provide most of the power. Ideally a boatsteerer wasn't darting the harpoon very far, if at all, because that minimized how well it fastened into very thick blubber.
The design of the tip also played a role in how well they fastened.
Tumblr media
The earlier harpoons had two flues, first figure. They weren't the most effective because the two flues meant they often didn't penetrate into the blubber very well and could draw easier too. Then harpoons with a single flue came in--they fastened better without as much force and their shape made it so they also didn't draw as easily. The last three are toggle harpoons, which were an improvement on both designs. They basically had a fastening in the toggle that would break under strain once darted into a whale, thus opening the toggle head and creating a T-shape that created a more secure hook. The modern design for the toggle harpoon was created in 1848 by a Black man named Lewis Temple who worked as a blacksmith in New Bedford. He had been inspired by much earlier examples of the toggle technology in Inuit harpoons. It wasn't ever patented however, so people stole and reproduced his design wildly and it became the standard on whaleships shortly after that.
Harpoons were also usually stamped with the name of the ship they belonged to, as well as the specific whaleboats they equipped (LB for larboard boat, WB for waist boat, etc.). This was largely in the the event that if a whale broke away and died shortly after, the ship crew that killed it could lay claim to it. But I came across one instance in a journal where the crew of the ship Covington on her 1856 voyage tried and successfully skirted around this:
“Early one morning just before sunrise we discovered it [a whale that had been killed by a different ship’s crew] close to us adrift. It not being light enough to be seen from the shore, we lowered away and towed it alongside. We got their irons out as quick as possible and stowed them away out of sight, but had no sooner done so than their boat came alongside claiming it. They were told that they were mistaken, as we had taken it ourselves, but they insisted that it was theirs, and finally the skipper told them that they might wait and see it cut in, and if their irons were found in it they might have the whale, which was a very safe statement on our side, for their irons had been extracted and ours shoved into the places they had occupied. They insisted, notwithstanding, that it was their whale, but in the absence of all positive evidence they were obliged to forego their claim, and left us declaring that they would play us a trick if they ever had a chance, but that chance they never had for the whales that we took were few and far between.”
If you want to see a ton of images of harpoons, the New Bedford whaling museum has hundreds in its collection that's searchable online. They also come up at auctions a lot too, so looking at the marine sale catalogues of auction houses will likely give you a number to look at. The specimens that survive in museums and auction houses however weren’t necessarily ever darted into a whale. When all was said and done, this was what a working iron looked like:

First and only time I will ever speak out directly about fandom shit. Not tagging, reblogs off. Once this is posted, I'm moving on.
Since when is voicing a complaint about something concerning me-- that, let's be honest, I'm sure I'm not the only one to feel that way--attention seeking? I'm not at all asking for people to come coddle me. I was posting on my own blog, I wasn't tagging anyone, I wasn't naming names. But, venting and confiding in our own created safe spaces is a bad thing and a cause for vague posting? What's the logic there? Why was it hard to just quietly unfollow and just leave, without saying a word? I wouldn't have even known or noticed, honestly. It would not have been any problem what so ever. But I saw it, and I know it was aimed at something I said in my tags. And yeah, I'm sure me posting this is hypocritical as fuck. But Jesus Christ, I've kept 'neutral' and stayed in my lane far enough. For once, I'm standing up for myself.
It's not about 'attention seeking', it's not about 'Why am I not getting any notes??', it's not about any of that. It's never been about any of that. It's the fact that there's no sense of community anymore. Look at how things were two-three years ago and look at how things are now. We're missing a lot of names we used to see way more often. People that have withdrawn and now quietly share without interacting--how is that an enjoyable fandom experience? And yeah, I'm part of the problem too with how much I withdrew from people (withdrew...NOT vague posting about, not target, not messing with anyone)--but is that a cause for taking one of my personal posts--that wasn't even meant to be a jab towards anyone specific--and fucking vague posting about it? Goddamn, it wasn't even a direct insult to anyone either. I didn't say "People who do this suck", I said "this is a trend I personally believe does more harm than good".
Look man, we can try and deny it until we're all blue in the face. But this fandom isn't the way it was when it first started. It's not the same vibe, not the same comradery. Those of us that have been here since the beginning, we see it.
And if you don't see the difference, then congrats. You've stayed safe in your own little bubble. The same can't be said about others, unfortunately. Hide your heads in the dirt if you want, but I'm sure there are others barely hanging on as well, if it weren't for the love they have for their OC's and creations and the friends they've made.
It's really invalidating--and a huge violation of trust for that matter--to open up and express sadness or concern, then go and see someone make a public post about how it's just 'attention seeking'. It's not the first time I've seen this happen either--even worse when it's done in private and not on tumblr--yet it gets posted about. How is that okay? How is that productive at all? Fucking ignoring it and going about your day does far more good than making others feel like shit for expressing sadness that something they enjoyed is now far different.
So I dunno. I tried holding onto the hope that things can change, that people can start being friendly and understanding again. Or that, at least, people will be mature enough to just coexist and be civil to one another. But I'm think I'm ready to throw in the towel. Unfollow me if you want, block me if you want--I'm just done. I think I'm well within my right to voice frustration about the current state of a community I once loved, as well as being within my right to react to something I posted that was taken out of context.
We're adults. Grow up and leave people be.
The parts that were fun, were fun. The rest? Yikes.
And to my friends and mutuals, I'm sorry for putting this shit on your dash. Like I said, first and last time.

When Scully wakes, he is in her bed.
She didn’t expect him to still be there. No one in her life ever stays, certainly not anyone good.
Which is why she has to end it. They will take him from her like they’ve taken all good things in her life.
And like all good things in her life, this one can’t last.
She dresses quietly and drives to the building on autopilot, runs a brush through sleep-mussed hair. She doesn’t want to look at herself in the mirror but she catches a glimpse as she enters the building.
She looks tired. Sick.
She is tired and sick. They’ve been reluctant to give her this last bout of treatment, saying her information has been drying up, and what are they keeping her around for, then?
Skinner isn’t there when she knocks on his door. She knew he wouldn’t be. Instead, he is, the man with smoke forever clouding his face.
“I can’t do this anymore,” she says, shutting the door behind her. She hates how her voice trembles. “I won’t.”
“You don’t have a choice.”
“You think I won’t die to get away from you?” she asks.
“You didn’t want to two years ago.”
“Two years ago I wasn’t this,” she says. “I wasn’t—wasn’t a traitor, wasn’t betraying my country, two years ago I had something to live for.”
She doesn’t know why she’s admitting this to him of all people. Maybe because she doesn’t care.
“You’re making a mistake,” he says. “We will end you.”
You already have, she thinks.
“Go ahead,” she says and turns towards the door.
“Dana,” he says, and there’s a warning in his tone. “We’ll end him. You know we can do it.”
This makes her stop. Pause.
“What do I care if you destroy Fox Mulder,” she says. “He means nothing to me.”
It’s the only lie she’s ever told that tastes bitter on her tongue.

53 and/or 59 from the prompt list 🤗
59 & 53! wanted to see if I could work them both into a drabble.
53) Who cares about what they think?
59) Is this okay?
MSR, post "All Things"
It's the first time they've gone out together as a couple. Well. Gone out is an overstatement; it's lunch in the J. Edgar Hoover building's cafeteria; someplace she's pretty sure Mulder has only set foot in once in his entire FBI career.
It's good—the food. Better than she expected for government food. It's a step up from airline food in that it's edible and at least mildly delicious.
What she can't get over is the staring.
Mulder keeps tapping his fingers on the table. They sit across from each other, her foot occasionally brushing his, and it really does feel like everyone in the building is watching them.
Do they know? Can they sense it—the change between the two of them? To her it feels palpable.
She reaches for his hand, if only to still his fingers. He startles, looks at her.
"Is this okay?" she asks, and he nods. She smiles reassuringly, not letting go of his hand for the rest of lunch until they stand to clear their trays.
She reaches for his hand again as they walk back down to the basement, on impulse. But she finds herself hesitating, suddenly.
As if he can read her mind, Mulder reaches down and intertwines his own fingers with hers.
"Who cares what they think?" he asks, and she nods, squeezing his hand, content as always to let him reassure her.

What’s your opinion on the Broadwaystuck revival?
*I don't follow tags and have been in an "inattentive" phase for a couple months now so I'm not keeping up and idk how much of the following is ACTUALY relevant to this iteration. I do not know annnnything about Broadwaystuck 2023 other than it seems to be another 1:1 casted group. * I've been on record for years as not being a huge fan of the "Broadwaystuck model" where there's an "official cast" where each character is voiced by only one person, other than for a specific project with a deadline such as a musical or planned album. I think that it might result in:
driving away interested parties cause their fave is taken. It's exclusive by design
conflict over casting, which has historically been big drama
lagging collaboration because e.g. everyone wanting a Vriska* number depends on The One Vriska's personal course schedule and workload, not to mention interests and range
similar issues if someone goes inactive without telling anyone, anything regarding that character just comes to a halt and you have to put mod energy into that situation
which is a concern for a project billed as producing things on an *indefinite* basis. there will be turnover, and this model always looks like it struggles with that possibly because of point 1
lots of effort on advertising recasts, auditions, and callbacks, when The One Vriska drops out, *after* you've told all the other Vriska singers that she's taken and they've lost interest
IMO, self-duet like "Past Me, We're Going Down" and the Karkat x Karkat "Loathing" are so much better because there's two voices! I LOVE hearing VAs for the same character together. You don't get that if you've already told all the other VAs for that character to keep walking.
*just picked vriska cuz she's so popular
I have clicked through a lot of dead group blogs where the last dozen posts are repeat attempts to cast and re-cast, and I remember the drama in 2012 about who got to be e.g. Official Broadway Nepeta. And I remember personally applying for Broadway Kanaya in 2012 and then going o well didn't get cast :/ and never trying again. I mean I could have struck out on my own but there's reasons people like to be in a collaborative network for this sort of thing.
I got the sense that it kept being replicated in group after group not because it was functional (original Broadwaystuck lasted like. four? five months? end of 2011 to april? 2012?) but because of how bright it shone, and glittered with (some preexisting) BNFs, while it briefly worked. One of the most common reactions I see in the chat of a listen party I'm hosting is "we should remake Broadwaystuck!". It's undeniable that the project had huge impact. I'm not sure that means that its successor in *impact* will or should operate the same way.
to be fair we apparently did Not At All solve this with whatever we tried with Universe C# after 2019 SAHcon, i think (hope?) in part because Discord is such a clumsy and dark platform for what we were doing. I think it's great that the current project is back on Tumblr, which being on the clearweb (make sure those blogs are search indexed!) is much more accessible to curious passers by than a locked Discord. It's also better than Twitter because Twitter is outright hostile to audio creators. Anyway the ideeeeeea there was that you would record samples for as many characters as you wanted, creating a bank of actors interested in each character as reference for collaboration, plus whatever the hell you wanted to do as an individual, so theoretically you could @tag all the actors for a given character at once for a highly targeted casting call for the specific song you wanted to make!
But this other way of doing things didn't get going. It may be that one of the upsides to the casted model is that there is a sense of a Job To Do that motivates actually producing things more than a casual free for all. I mean, everything I have actually made was because articulatelyComposed needed one more mezzo for a deadline. save for my Candy!Dave "Edges Of The World" that i Do Not Have The Fucking Range For. Chaotic tenors, call me I think the new project has folks with experience on some of those old casted projects so maybe they will iterate on some of the shortcomings. whether my opinion on organization structure is *relevant*? no, i'm not in the group AND folks actually in the group have more direct experience with similar groups than I do. i'm just someone who does data entry as a hobby.
this does all make me want to brush up some of my old WIPs
edit: firsthand feedback on how BS23 works
"part of my job on staff for the project is to set out the base structure of our albums and when songs are released and how in certain cases. we set like… a skeleton of the album we're going to make with a set end point and certain things at certain points (you cant fight the homestuck being track 100 of volume one and thus the album's closing number, track 50 of the current album being beautiful [the song], stuff like that.)
we haven't had any conflict over casting as of yet, least not that I'm aware of. some people dropped out but people drop in too, and people shuffle around based on interest or might volunteer to do a part thats missing from a group number. we've got handling and rules for inactivity and all that. collaborations arent always quick, especially the bigger the group involved, but its not because anybodys got a line or whatever?
this isnt like an official statement but its all technical details so i think its fine."

Text
CW for discussion of systematic oppression in a fantastical context. Also bear in mind that this is all just me playing with the text, not that I'm proclaiming this to be the intent of how these stories are written. That being said:
Considering they're largely segregated from humanity onto smaller islands, I wouldn't be surprised if the world of Sonic has some history with bias against animal people.
In addition to being a science experiment, I can imagine this having something to do with how GUN treated Shadow in the 1950s, like an unchecked monster or a volatile weapon. Heck, the fact that he was created in the image of a group of people to which the ARK residents didn't belong and was then classified as less than a person I think speaks loads. Other theories as to why he's a hedgehog aside, what if it's partially because they realized the Ultimate Lifeform needed to be a person rather than a beast, but it was legally easier to conduct what technically fell under "animal testing" so they made him something that's by all means a person but who wouldn't be classified as one?
Anti-animal bias, while I can imagine it's less overt now, seems to still color the world, if the nearest hedgehog either being genuinely mistaken for or being used as a scapegoat for Shadow's actions is anything to go by. And you can say "well that's GUN, of course they're awful" but they're the enforcers. They're the ones whose job it is to maintain order, and on multiple occasions they've taken that to mean keeping the animals in line.
I'm curious what people have to say about how Team Dark working for GUN might play into these thoughts of mine, it's a bit too early for me to unravel all of that.
I've been mildly contemplating to what extent the Robotniks themselves have this bias, as well. I think for each it's varying levels of complicated. For Maria, I think she doesn't have any room in her heart for bigotry. Especially considering how she dies and how she interacts with Shadow, she definitely sees him as a person. Like, Shadow took her wish to mean "protect humanity" but, at least in the English version of SA2 (unsure about Japanese), she says not "humans" but "people." "For all the people on that planet." Gerald and Eggman, hmm I think it's once again too early for that discussion but I'd love to see other's takes on what conscious or unconscious biases they might have.
These thoughts all arose because after seeing that one TailsTube, I just got so curious as to why the world is structured this way. I presume humans evolved on one of these big continents and migrated to the others over time like in real life, but how did the animals come to be? Did they all just individually originate from islands of different biomes (possible because the smaller islands are shown to have multiple different zones that have the potential to produce different walks of life)? Or as the humans conquered more land, did they choke the animal populations out and force them onto smaller islands?
Much to ponder.

Simplistic-sims post is actually not bad though?
Dont get me wrong, I dont support everything they've said or done in perpetuity. But their content for the sims is...theirs? They can make the choice to release it or keep it for themselves or only give it to their friends even. Their content, what they create, cannot be held hostage. Because no one is entitled to their work. They could close up shop tomorrow and no one could demand they come back because no one can force them to make content for people. And that isnt a hostage situation.
So them communicating to their community "Hey I can't continue to make this much content (or at all) because I have to be spending at least part of the time I currently use creating to support myself." Isn't wrong or bad. Its just...communication. Its saying if enough people keep donating I can keep going on like I have been. If not then I will be releasing less. That's just the facts of the situation. People need to make money to live. And that sucks. But if the money isnt there anymore then creators may have to move onto something else to support themselves.
At that point it is up to the community if they want content to keep coming out. If they decide to donate to help support a creator. There isnt anything coercive about that. People donate to creators all the time in other contexts/communities to help content keep rolling out. It is the same here.
I really appreciate what you've done up to now for the community, exposing issues within it. Jesus, I'm not even a simblr and I've seen the good you and Sunny have done. But we need to be better than telling people to jump off a bridge. Especially when Simplistic's response was actually one of the better ones I have seen? When others are just willing to keep paywalling and ignoring TOS? It doesnt help the cause to be a bully.
And just to be clear again, I'm not a simblr. I dont know all the nuances of Simplistic's behavior over the years. So I'm not supporting everything theyve done and said. But their original post did not deserve the vitriol you gave it.
I am Sunny. Just FYI. That's why my twitter handle is "Sunny not Mack". ;) I will admit my choice of gif reaction, probably not the best looking back however...you also have to understand that I'm a little suspicious and skeptical especially considering this is someone who was a former paywaller who made money off of taking the copyrighted designs/textures of companies like rifle paper company, and restoration hardware and applied them to maxis match meshes. Because before she even released THAT statement she had another which she deleted because it obviously didn't go over well:
Tumblr media
In which she had a gofundme. My concern here would be this: If she treats this similar to a gofundme situation where if she has to receive a certain amount of "donations" to be able to continue making CC....what happens if she barely misses her amount she needs? Is she gonna take her ball and go home? How are people who donated money hoping she'd release content gonna feel? Are they gonna feel taken advantage of? You'd think not, but again, there's that little dangling transational aspect of it that can make some people mad. I just am suspicious because I don't know why someone who so blatently paywalled recolors of maxis' own stuff with copyrighted textures would change their tune and decide to be honest with people. That's all. I appreciate you trying to make sure I'm the best I can be though. Again, probably not the right gif reaction there, but also I'm kinda peeved because when my income (my job) was threatened by paywallers not once, not twice, but FOUR times...people like her were often strangely silent. Doesn't give me the right to take that out on her though. Thanks for being respectful about it. :)
