Neighbor Pt. 2
Tumblr media
Matt Murdock x Reader
Summary: Matt makes sure she gets home safe after work, then officially introduces himself the next morning.
Words: about 1.6k
A/N: Trying out third person for fics, I kind of like it better than using "you" all the time... let me know what you guys think. Thanks for all the interest in being tagged!! <3 <3 <3
Part 1
Matt couldn’t stop thinking about her prayer the next day at work. He was anxious to get home from the office and immediately change into his Daredevil gear. Matt whispered a prayer holding his cross to his lips, and then stalked up his steps to the roof.
This wasn’t the norm for Matt’s nighttime activities. He usually stood on the corner of his rooftop and listened for any sound of trouble in the city. The sound could be anything: police sirens, a scream, the scratchy sound of a gun tucked in someone’s jacket, the soft friction of a knife in someone’s bag. This time, he knew what was out for.
He sat on his rooftop (their rooftop) and listened as she got ready. Not too closely, but enough to know that she was about to leave for work. She sprayed perfume on—warm vanilla—and closed her drawer. He heard her keys rattle and upon this, he crouched to listen as she walked down the apartment steps and outside.
She didn’t work far, about eight blocks downtown. But it didn’t matter if one worked a block away or ten blocks: Hell’s Kitchen wasn’t safe at night.
When she opened the door to her work, Matt heard bells jingling and an instant waft of coffee filled his senses. It wasn’t a coffee shop she worked at, though. From the smell of paper, leather, creaking wood, and suede couches, Matt surmised she worked at a bookstore.
“Hey!” he heard someone greet her at the counter, another young woman. “Thanks for closing tonight. I appreciate it.”
“No problem,” Matt could hear the smile in her voice. "Close at nine, right?”
“Right.”
9 PM.
This meant Matt had about four hours to kill elsewhere in the Kitchen before he’d come back to make sure she made it home safely.
———
The hours passed, and Matt was already waiting in the alleyway of the bookstore, listening to her close-up for the night. Closing up meant politely telling customers the store was about to close, and Matt could hear the anxiety in her voice—she was in a rush to get home, in a rush to not be walking home alone. Although she didn’t know it, she didn’t have to worry—Matt would ensure she was safe.
“Have a great night!” She told the last customer before shutting the large door and locking it. He heard her sigh as she began to quickly close up the front counter. And Matt waited. And waited. And waited.
Soon enough, she was walking out the front door and locking it behind her. Before she sauntered off in the direction of their apartment, she took a deep breath and looked both ways on the sidewalk. Matt presumed it was to see if there would be anyone walking behind her. There wasn’t. Using his senses, he quickly scanned the surrounding area and was relieved to find it relatively quiet with no disturbances.
“Please, God,” she prayed once more in a whisper. “Get me home safe.”
She began to walk, and Matt followed in the shadows. Her heart was pounding in her chest the faster she walked, anxious to get home sooner than later. She held her arms tight around her chest as she fought the wind blowing in her direction.
Finally, approaching their apartment building, Matt quickly crawled up the fire escape to the roof and listened as she opened the door with her keys, letting the heavy door shut behind her. She rushed up the steps and quickly unlocked the door to her apartment. Once inside, she locked it again.
She breathed a sigh of relief.
Matt breathed a sigh of relief.
“Thank you, God.”
Matt smiled softly. He quietly let himself in from the roof.
———
Matt was awoken by the sound of pots and pans clattering in an apartment below him. Groaning, he turned in bed, silk sheets sliding all across his chiseled body, and pressed a pillow to his ear. The pillow was even worse, though—he could hear his blood rushing tenfold. In frustration, he threw the pillow off the bed and retreated to the sounds of clattering pans.
His senseless eyes were open and remained on the ceiling. It had to be at least an hour earlier than when he was supposed to be awake. In another apartment, the TV played the news loudly, news he didn’t particularly want to hear this early. The static from the TV sounded like popcorn popping in a microwave.
“Crime is rising again in Hell’s Kitchen, but can Daredevil manage it all—“
Matt refrained from that apartment and moved on to the next one. He was greeted with a loud, vibrating snore.
Sigh.
There were so many sounds, none pleasant to the ear. He wished he could turn off his heightened senses, from time to time…
But then he remembered her.
Was she awake?
Matt tilted his head in bed, focusing on her apartment which was only across from his. Inside, he could smell fresh lavender and honey tea. Soft baroque music was playing and Matt could hear her shift on her couch, turning the page of a book. Not many sounds came from her apartment. The only thing he wanted to listen to, however, was her heart.
And so, he did. The gentle beating paired with the sound of paper being turned lulled him back to sleep.
After an extra hour of sleep, Matt got ready for work. He changed into his usual gray suit and black tie. As he was in the kitchen pouring himself a glass of orange juice, he was shocked to hear her getting ready for—something—as well. In a leap of curiosity and anticipation, Matt drank his OJ in one gulp and grabbed his suitcase just in time to “run into” her on his way out.
She sprayed her perfume and headed out the door, at the same time as Matt.
———
She was mildly curious about her neighbor, the one who lived across the hall from her. She only saw him occasionally. When she did see him, she made it a point to say hello, at the very least.
“Good morning,” she said softly. Good morning was all she ever said. Maybe she would say more if she weren’t so shy.
“Morning,” he replied with a smile. When she did run into him, she was always reminded of how handsome he was. Always donned in a well-pressed gray suit and a briefcase. Dark red glasses to hide whatever color his eyes were. Light stubble on a sharp jawline. Chocolate brown hair. She’d read enough books to know he had to be a businessman or lawyer.
“Early start to your day?” He asked while she still faced her door to lock it. She paused holding her keys in her hand.
She was caught off guard by the follow-up question—their interactions never lasted more than a greeting, but still, she was gladly roped into conversation. At least he was the one to initiate it.
“Yeah,” she said, “luckily I have the earlier shift today. Get to leave early and beat the dark.”
“I hear you,” he said softly. “I’m—I’m Matt, by the way. I don’t think I’ve ever introduced myself.” Matt held his hand out for her to shake, which she did. She quickly switched her keys into her other hand and took Matt’s, which felt soft and cold. She slowly pulled her hand back as she introduced herself, suddenly feeling very self-conscious. A moment of silence filled the space between them. He stood with one hand in his pocket, one hand holding his cane. He smiled in a friendly way.
“So uh, what do you do?” He asked.
“I work at a bookstore a few blocks down,” she nervously pushed a hair behind her ear and felt her cheeks heat in a blush. “What about you?”
“I’m a defense attorney,” he said sheepishly. “A bookstore?” He changed the subject off from himself. “What kind of books do you carry?”
She smiled at his question, resisting the urge to giggle. “A lot of books. Fiction, non-fiction, fantasy. What do you like?”
Matt huffed his chest, shrugged his shoulders, and spun his cane around as he thought about it. “Anything. It’s been a long time since I’ve read for pleasure. I think the past few years have been dedicated to my law books,” he laughed. She mirrored his reaction and laughed as well. “Do you—carry any books in braille?”
For some reason, his question made her demeanor soften a bit. She bit her lip, thinking if her store carried any. She had a feeling they might have a small section but wasn’t sure. She’d be glad to order something special—just for him, if not.
“I’ll check today. If we do, I’ll drop a book off for you. It’ll be a surprise.”
“I’d love that.”
“Great,” she smiled. “Well, I better get on my way so I’m not late.”
“I’ll walk you out,” Matt offered. She nodded her head, then quickly spoke again, realizing her mistake of nodding.
“Sure, that’d be nice.”
Just as they were about to walk down, Matt suddenly stopped in his steps. “Oh, I think you forgot to lock your door.”
“Oh!” She gasped nervously, not even realizing she walked away without locking it. She quickly slid the key in the lock and locked it, then met Matt again at the stairs.
He began to walk down them with his cane hitting each step in front of him. She watched as he carefully held onto the railing and slowly took each step. Normally, she zipped down the stairs, but today, she took her time to walk with him. She half wanted to offer her arm for him to hold onto but didn’t know if that was appropriate.
Outside was overcast, meaning the bookstore would be busier than usual. After a slightly awkward goodbye from Matt, and her promising him again about the book in braille, she walked in the direction of the bookstore, but not before glancing once more behind her to watch as Matt made his way down to his job.

More Matt Imagines: HERE
-
He knew something was wrong when you didn’t answer the phone. You always answered when he called, your voice holding a smile every time, making it impossible for him not to grin as well. He’d wanted to ask you what you wanted for dinner so he could pick it up, but you didn’t answer. And, fearing the worst, Matt rushed home as soon as he could, leaving a pile of work on his desk that he would just deal with later.
The apartment was still when he got home. Eerily still. But there, sounding like gunfire in the silence, was a racing heartbeat and quick, exerting breaths.
Matt sighed, but not out of relief.
He knew exactly what this was and a new kind of worry settled into his chest. There was no salt in the air, which meant you weren’t crying, which meant you were keeping it all locked inside of you. It was eating away at you and there was nothing he could do to stop it. But he could help you through.
Matt opened the door to the bedroom, finding you facing away and curled up on your side. You were on top of the covers, arms shivering and wrapped around yourself.
“I’m home,” he said silently, hoping not to scare you.
Your shoulders tensed. “Hi.”
Matt didn’t need to ask. He simply crawled into bed beside you, pulling you to his frame, arms locked tight around you to hold you against his chest. It was something he found seemed to help, a reassurance that he was there and that you weren’t falling into the dark that was consuming you.
He stayed like that for a while, not saying anything, not prying… just holding you while you shook and breathed and your heartbeat slowly calmed from your second panic attack of the night.
“That’s it,” he whispered. “Breathe in.” His chest moved against your back as he did it with you. “Breathe out. In… out…” Matt kissed the top of your head. “There you go.”
“Sorry,” you mumbled, curling up even more.
Matt shook his head. “You don’t have anything to apologize for.” He pulled you a little closer, feeling your body tense up again. You were starting to shake and your heartbeat slowly started to pick up. He knew what it was. Guilt. Guilt for feeling the way you did, for thinking you were doing something wrong. Matt held you tight, not letting you go. “Hey hey hey, it’s okay.”
“You called…” You said softly. “I should have answered. I’m sorry. I know how m-much you worry.”
“It’s okay,” Matt insisted. “You’re here. Safe. And I’m here now, okay? You aren’t alone. I’m right here.”
You could feel his steady heartbeat against your back and his hands soothingly rubbing your arms and sides.
“You’re back early from work,” you said. “It’s my fault.”
“I came back because I wanted to.” Matt kissed the base of your neck. “I want to be with you.” He knew your brain was telling you otherwise.
You stopped arguing for a while and just laid there, staring blankly at the wall in front of you.
Matt shifted a little, leaning so you could see his worried, blank eyes. “Do you want to talk about it?”
You melted into his touch.
“Do you need to talk about it?”
“Matt-”
“Sweetheart, you know it helps,” he urged gently. Matt turned you around in his arms so you were facing him. He laid a hand on your cheek. “Talk to me, baby. Please.”
His words and quiet, sweet tone hit your chest. He seemed to punch a hole through the dam. Finally, you started to cry.
“Okay.” Matt tucked your head under his chin. “It’s okay. I’ve got you.”
“I don’t…” You sucked in a shaking breath only to cough it back out with a quiet sob. “I don’t understand it. There’s nothing to talk about. Nothing h-happened.” You tried in vain to wipe away the falling tears, your hands shaking so bad they were hard to move. “I just feel so wrong.” There was one word that always described when you got like this. “Dark. Everything feels so dark.”
Matt gently brushed your tears away with his thumb, bringing you closer to kiss your forehead.
“I know, sweetheart. I know.” It shattered him to hear the quivering in your voice, but he knew that the demons that you dealt with were just that- demons. Thoughts your mind used against you. It didn’t define you. He always just tried to remind you of that. “Are you sure nothing happened?” He continued.
You burrowed closer to him.
That meant no.
“Okay, so what is it? What’s your head trying to turn around, huh?” He kept his tone a little lighter, giving you a small, reassuring smile as he tucked a hair behind your ear.
“I can’t do anything right,” you admitted. “Work. My friends… This.” You laid a hand on his chest.
Matt nodded. “And what is your mind telling you about all of that? What’s it trying to base it on?”
You started to retreat into yourself again, but Matt held strong. He rubbed smooth circles into your temples, soothing the anxiety headache that you had been trying to ignore.
“It’s okay, baby.”
You took another deep, trembling breath, speaking as you breathed out.
“I just feel like I’ve done something,” you whispered, like if you said it too loud it would become true. “I don’t know what, but everyone just seems off around me. Like they all have this secret about me that I have no idea what it is, but they won’t tell me, but it’s changing how they feel about me.” You buried your face in the crook of his neck. “I did something wrong and I don’t know how to fix it.”
“Do you think I’ve been different around you?” He asked, his tone never raising or accusing. He stayed absolutely light.
“No…” You sniffed. “I don’t know, maybe.” You brought your hands up to your face to further hide yourself. “I don’t know anything. I just know it all feels like it’s my f-fault.” Another sob escaped, muffled by your palm.
“Alright,” Matt sighed, pulling you back to him. “Let it out, sweetheart. I’m right here.”
But the energy you’d had to cry had all but gone out, leaving you shaking and sniffling in his arms. You felt so pathetic.
“You know that I’m not upset with you, right?”
You tried to turn away. “I know, but-”
“Hold on, I want you to sit with that for a second, okay?” Matt instructed, making sure you stayed locked against him, safe and loved in his embrace. “You haven’t done anything to upset me. If I’ve been different, it’s stress from work. It isn’t because of you. You didn’t do anything.” His hands found every tension in your back and gently rubbed it out. He always knew exactly how to calm you down, whether it was with touch or his soft words. “Say it for me, hm?”
You shook your head weakly.
“Y/N…” He pressed.
You blew out a sigh. “I didn’t do anything.”
“Nothing is your fault.”
“N-nothing is my fault.”
“Your head wants you to believe it, but it isn’t true.”
You looked up at him, finding his distant, dark, loving eyes absently roaming your face. “It isn’t true.”
“There.” Matt brought your lips to his for a soft, assuring kiss. “I know it's hard to get past it, but those tricky thoughts are just that- tricks.” He kissed you again, a little deeper, but still gentle and loving. He pulled away with a smile teasing his lips. “I love you, Y/N. No matter what your mind tries to tell you. I’ll always love you.”
You snuggled closer to him, finally letting yourself smile a little. “I love you too, Matty.”
It wasn’t something you could explain- why your head did this to you, why it was so hard to move some days, why there were times when all you could think about was that you were broken and unlovable. Nor could you explain how Matt was able to pull you out of the dark that consumed you. While he couldn't fix everything, he could always ground you and remind you of the things in your life you loved and the people who loved you.
Matt’s hands slowly fell to your waist, holding you close to him while he breathed you in. After a while, his cheek nuzzled against yours, a new concern building in his mind.
“Did you eat today?” He asked.
You didn’t answer.
Matt sighed. “Say it for me, sweetheart.” The two of you had been over this before as well.
“I don’t have to ‘deserve’ a meal,” you breathed out. You’d been too tired, too consumed by your thoughts to realize how hungry you were. Even if you had realized it, you wouldn’t let yourself eat when you got like this. As if you had to earn food by being happy. It was something Matt was helping you work through too.
Matt nodded and sat up. “I’m ordering your favorite and not taking no for an answer, so don’t even try.” With another little grin, he kissed you one more time before climbing out of bed to reach for his phone.
You watched him, uncurling your body for the first time in several hours. Your muscles were stiff and ached, but you embraced it. Feeling sore was better than feeling empty.
Matt wasn’t gone long, having called your favorite restaurant and ordered delivery. He also put on a record of your favorite artist, letting the music fill the living room. He returned to the bed and lifted you up in his arms without warning, spinning you around to the melody.
“Matt!” You squealed, laughter bubbling through your lips.
Matt beamed. “I knew I could get a laugh somehow.” He kissed your temple and held you close to his chest, carrying you bridal style to the living room while still swaying to the song. He took you to the couch and sat you down, wrapping you up in a blanket and walking back to the kitchen to make you some hot chocolate.
“You know… I think there’s some cookie dough left in the freezer if you’re up for it,” he offered, raising an eyebrow.
You couldn’t help but chuckle. “Is that saying you want to make cookies?”
“Hey, I’m just trying to help you,” he said, holding his hands up. A wicked grin spread across his face. “It’s not my fault if I also happen to get cookies out of it.”
“Uhuh.” You held your arms out. “Now get back here, Mr. Murdock.”
Matt brought over the warm drinks and sat down beside you, pulling you back into his arms and kissing your forehead.
“Better?” He asked softly, lips against your cheek.
You nodded, frowning. “For now anyway.”
He held you a little tighter. “If it comes back, just let me know, and we’ll work through it together, okay?”
You nodded again, this time not saying anything and just settling against him. A tightness gripped at your chest and you felt a wave of embarrassment wash over you.
“I’m sorry, Matt.”
He pulled back. “For what?”
“For making you do this. You have so much going on and I hate that I add to it.” You swallowed. “It isn’t fair of me to put this on your shoulders.”
Matt grabbed you by the arms, his thumbs rubbing soothing circles into your skin.
“Y/N, how many times have I come back here beaten to hell and thinking I can’t do it anymore? How many times have I wanted to give up the fight? To let the darkness of the world take over?” He asked. You tried to look away, but he brought a hand up to your chin to make you look at him to see the sincerity in his face. “Who was the one who reminded me that there’s good? That there’s a reason to keep going? That I matter?”
His finger swiped away a tear you didn’t realize had fallen.
“You did, Y/N,” he said. “You always do. No matter how much I want to give up, you won’t let me.” Matt kissed you, firm and sure and everything you needed. “I will be there for you as many times as you need for as long as you need because I love you.” Matt rested his forehead against yours. “It’s not how you hit the mat…”
“It’s how you get up,” you finished, giving him a small smile. You pressed your lips to his, draping your arms around him.
The food arrived and the two of you spent the rest of the night listening to music and talking about new bakeries and boxing and work and everything in between. You weren’t totally out of it by the end of the night, but with every moment in your lover’s arms, you felt more and more like yourself.
Matt couldn’t keep the dark away. He knew that. But he could help you find the light again, no matter how long it took.

6 Totally Random Matt Murdock Headcanons that keep me up at night
Masterlist
Pairing: Matt Murdock x afab!Reader
Summary: Just some Matty headcanons today!
Warnings: Mentions of Smut! 18+ MINORS DNI! (Not proofread)
A/n: I was planning on writing a fic, but then I found this in my drafts and thought I would finish it. Yes, I did write those at three in the morning every time I woke up. That's...that's not unhealthy at all or anything.
Tumblr media
1. Volume
Matt is a very vocal person in bed. I'm not talking full-on screaming though.
While there are times he is quiet to hear your breathy moans and whines as he’s pounding into you and he hears you begging for “More, more, more…” as soon as he feels you around his cock, it’s game over for him. He loses that tiny bit of self-control. He grunts and groans, and sometimes, when he feels particularly in the mood, he whines and whimpers because you treat him so well.
Don't even get me started on when he goes down on you. He will moan just from the taste of you, and then some more when your hands tangle in his hair, causing the slightest amount of pain. He thrives off of it.
He wants to show you how good you make him feel, not just the other way around, and ever since he has noticed that you like it when he makes noise, he makes sure to moan every so often when you're fucking or making love or simply enjoying each other's bodies in all the ways possible. He trusts you enough to do it, to let himself go and surrender himself, and you reward him for being a good boy.
2. Eating...
We have established that Matt Murdock is the King Of Eating Pussy. The love for giving oral runs deep, not just in his desire to please and never take anything in return. Not just because he wants to make you feel good. It's literal torture on his sensitive senses when he doesn't get to drown between your legs at least once.
It's his form of worshipping you, of praying to you in a highly blasphemous context when he thinks about the things you have moaned, but he would do it time and time again. He loves it. The taste alone gets him high and then it's all he focuses on. It calms him.
I truly believe that hearing your heartbeat, the blood rushing in the veins of your thighs, and the taste of your arousal mixed with pheromones do something to him that lets out some sort of animal whenever he smells you. And then he just needs to have you or he will go crazy. It's the same with your natural scent.
Matt Murdock gets off on the mere taste of his partner’s arousal. He can taste it in the air. He makes sure to make you come on his tongue at least once when you’re getting intimate, and not just as foreplay. He does it before, during, and after, depending on his and your mood. He knows what buttons to press, how hard to suck on your clit and he knows how to slide his tongue inside of you and fuck you with it until you’re shaking. He will keep your thighs spread wide and hold you down, but let you wrap your legs around his head and clench around him because he loves the momentary loss of oxygen.
3. Consent.
He will only ever touch you when he knows that you want it. He won’t fuck you when you’re not in the right mental state because he doesn’t want to take advantage of you. He makes sure to ask and communicate and when your answers are not clear, he stops the scene. He can hear it in your heartbeat and he would never cross that line, not even when he is horny and full of adrenaline in the middle of the night.
He would ask you for permission to fuck you when you're asleep, maybe, so he won't have to wake you when he comes home late from patrol, but even then he needs vocal confirmation beforehand to know he won't cross a line. So every night when he leaves, he asks if you'd still be okay with it, and after learning that he would be anything but mad when you say no, you give him the most honest answer.
4. Cuddles
When he has a bad day, he wants nothing more than to be held by you. Either he is the little spoon or, and that happens the most often, he places his head in your chest as you entangle your limbs with his and hold him close, raking your nails through his hair.
He relaxes when you massage his scalp, but he also enjoys your touch on his tense shoulders, and that's when he likes to be pampered like a little princess. Pampering, in this case, is cuddles. He wants all the cuddles you can give him.
It's nights like these that he realizes how in love he is with you, and how safe he feels when he's in your arms. But God forbid anyone finds that out. He will not admit that he enjoys being pampered by you because that would make him seem vulnerable, and we all know our dear Matthew, don't we?
5. Concerts
This came to me randomly, but since he has sensitive hearing, it would be hard for him to go to concerts with you. However, he will make sure to follow along to the venue, drop you off, and then I'm certain he would find a rooftop somewhere further in the distance, put some earbuds in to protect his sensitive ears, and he would listen.
He would filter your voice out of the crowd and imagine himself dancing to the music with you. He loves how excited you get when your favorite artist is playing. He knows you're aware of what he's doing, and you make sure to whisper, "Thank you," under your breath.
Listening to you have fun at a concert would also broaden Matt's horizons when it comes to music, and you would catch him playing your Playlist at home while cooking one day, humming along.
One of these days, you will find a way to take him there with you, but until then, he makes sure you at least know he's listening while you're having the time of your life.
6. Neck-holding
This doesn't need an explanation, but I will give it to you anyway.
Matt loves holding your neck, sexually and non-sexually. He loves feeling your pulse, the way you respond to him, and he loves how much closer you get whenever he does it.
He'd be like, "Come here, sweetheart." And you would jump into his lap, cuddling into him, while he holds you with one arm around the rest of your body, the other wrapping gently around your neck.
And in bed, you guys probably know how it would go.

Matt Murdock - Your Wedding Dress
Tumblr media
Pairing : Matt Murdock x (she/her) Reader Word Count : 1.7k Warning : Angst. Get your tissues, I mean it. Synopsis : It was one thing to attend her wedding as a guest but to meet her before the ceremony? Would Matt have such strength in himself to face her? Notes : I listened to Phoebe Bridgers - Scott Street outro 1 hour on ytmusic while writing this. I suggest you do the same to get that maximum punch to the gut. If you like this story and would like to support me, please visit my kofi page and perhaps get me a coffee?☕
Matt’s grip on his white cane tightened as the smell of florals and champagne hit his nose. The soft sound of wedding symphonies was heard, and he could hear the bustling murmurs of the guests crowding the venue. This would surely be one of those days where he wished he didn’t have his heightened senses.
If only Fisk hit him a little bit harder on the head the other day. If only he’s gotten an important trial to attend to today. If only he’s got any other reason to pass up this harrowing day. If only.
Karen’s gentle squeeze on his arm is the only anchor Matt now has to not completely lose it. Foggy and Marci were a few steps behind them and though none of the four exchanged a word since they got out of the taxi earlier, Matt could tell from the beating of their hearts that they were worried too. For him or for her, he wasn’t sure. It would’ve been a pleasant mini reunion for them all if the circumstances weren't as unfortunate.
He knew that the grey cloud surrounding his head was contaminating such a pleasant morning. His sour expression was in contrast to all the gleeful smiles and happy faces the other guests have. He knew that he should, at the very least, pretend that he’s happy for her. Matt tried. He painfully has tried to be happy. To finally accept his final defeat in life and let her go, but it’s just such an impossible task to do.
Some people are bound to leave greater marks than others in your heart.
“Excuse me,” Someone called from behind the quartet “Is any of you by chance, uh, Mr. Murdock, Ms. Page, Mr. Nelson, or Ms. Stahl?”
“That is us all, actually,” Foggy answers, knowing that his best friend has no power in him to utter a word.
“Oh perfect! The bride has asked to see you all before the ceremony.”
The three friends glanced at Matt, waiting for his response. It was one thing to attend her wedding as a guest but to meet her before the ceremony? Would Matt have such strength in himself to face her?
Before any of them could say a word, the person who seemed to be one of the wedding organisers ushered them to a room. The smell of her perfume was intoxicating. It was the only thing Matt could sense with every step they took. Like a magic spell binding him to follow blindly wherever it may lead. Even if that final destination might be his death.
His heart was hammering inside his chest. Like a hummingbird trying its best to flee its cage. Yet when the door closes behind them, when they’re finally given the privacy to see her alone, when the noise of the havoc happening outside was muffled and all he could feel is the serenity of this bridal suite, Matt suddenly feels like he was afloat.
“You guys made it.”
Matt clenches his jaw. Her voice was as sweet as a melted butter, yet it did nothing but make all the muscles in his body tense. His body went uptight. She was everywhere now. Her scent, her voice, her heartbeat. All of her is filling and suffocating his senses.
The sound of her dress sweeping the floor as she comes closer to them makes his heart ache. He wonders just how beautiful she must look right now. He wonders if she’s wearing that one dress she once described as her dream wedding dress. The one with thousands of mini buttons and a long sleeve of beautiful lace that feels like feathers when you touch it. He wonders if her dress has that long train that he argued would be quite a problem when she needs to do her slow dance later.
The four of them shared their small talk with Matt still busying himself to be desensitised with the event unravelling before his eyes. It proved to be a challenging task to do with her presence around. Everything about her just pulls him whole like a blackhole he couldn’t escape.
“Guys, would you mind giving me and Matt a moment?” She says at last. Matt could feel her heartbeat quickening a little “I don’t really have much time left before the ceremony starts, so if we could just have a few minutes..”
“Of course, yeah! Sure,” Foggy says fast “We’ll be outside.”
Matt could hear the soft sound of the door closing behind him yet it serves as a loud gun to his ears. He’s finally alone with her now, for God knows why, for God knows how long. A part of him wanted to throw away his cane and run towards the closest window to flee himself, but a bigger part of him wanted to melt his feet to the ground and bask in this moment forever.
“You look handsome,” She compliments, slowly taking closer steps towards him. Matt’s breath hitches when he feels her hand around his neck, trying to fix his collar “You’re wearing the tie I gave you back in college.”
“It’s the only nice tie I have,” He says with a smile “I’m sure you look handsome too.”
“Yeah, right.” She scoffs, Matt could tell that she just rolled her eyes.
“What’s wrong? You don’t feel beautiful on your wedding day?”
“Oh, no, I do feel pretty, it's just..” She pauses, letting out a soft sigh “It’s just not what I imagined.”
Matt forces a smile, “Describe your dress for me.”
“Don’t you want to just touch it? I’m not the best at describing things, remember?”
“I'd rather hear you talk.” He says, he could almost feel the heartbreak mirrored in her heart beat “Please.”
“Well, uh, where do I start,” She says with an awkward laughter escaping her lips “It’s an off shoulder ball gown with some super tight corset. I’m supposed to wear a glove with it but I couldn’t be bothered. Oh, and the veil. The veil might be the cherry on top in this. I look like a ghost from the 1800s.”
Matt let out a genuine laughter, amused by the distraught she seems to be having, “So no mini buttons?””
She shakes her head, “No mini buttons.”
“No long sleeve with lace that feels like feathers?”
“No, no feather like lace.”
“And no long train?”
“No,” She says, this time with more shakiness in her tone “No long train.”
His tongue darts out of his lips, licking it as he tries to find a word to say, “That does sound like an awful dress.”
“It is,” She agrees in defeat “It’s the worst.”
Silence fell upon them. A familiar one that typically would be comfortable and soothing, yet for once it made them tick like a timebomb. Matt wishes that his abilities would extend into mind reading because God knows just how desperate he wanted to know what she’s thinking. He wanted to know the truth about her heart, what made it beat so loud whenever he laughed or smiled at her. He wanted to know what is making her eyes glossy right now.
“Rescue me, Matt,” She finally whispers “Get me out of here.”
Matt swallows the hard lump on his throat, “And where would we go?”
“Anywhere. We could go miles away from here or.. Or we could just go back to your apartment and drink some beer,” She begs, her sobs get louder as a tear escapes her eyes. She takes one of his hands that was clutching the white cane and places it on her cheek, trying her best to melt into his hold “Tell me that you don’t want me to go on with this. Tell me that this is a mistake, that us breaking up was a mistake. Tell me that you don’t want me to marry him and we’ll be free, Matt. We’ll be free.”
“You’ll never be free with me,” Matt argues, his own voice breaking “You’ll never be safe with me.”
And that’s when Matt feels it. His heart completely shatters as she breaks into tears. He could feel her trembling, feel the pain she’s going through with this marriage. He could feel the heartbreak and despair in her heart. He could feel the frustration and anger that she desperately wanted to vent yet had no outlet for. He could feel it all.
But this, as much as it destroys them both, this is what is best for her. She deserves to be with someone who could provide a stable life for her. Someone who doesn’t spend their nights haunting bad guys and going home on unGodly hours with blood and bruises littering their body. She deserves to be with someone who could protect her, not the one who would only draw danger towards her.
“I don’t love him, Matt. I never do,” She reasoned “I could never love anyone as much as I love you.”
Matt pulls her close for an embrace. He tries to eliminate all the space between them, pulling her impossibly close, yet it still doesn’t feel enough. It hurts him to know that for once their embrace couldn’t fix the problem at hand. He wanted her all for himself but even his greed isn’t as big as the love he holds for her. He couldn’t risk it. He just can’t.
“I’m sorry,” He whispers “I’m sorry you don’t get to have that dream wedding you wanted in this life.”
She remains quiet, her sobs are the only thing filling the room right now.
“Hey, look at me,” Matt says as he pulls away from the hug, cupping her face to make her see him “I’m sorry I caused us this mess, Baby. I never wanted to hurt you.”
She nods, forcing a smile, “I know.”
“I promise you, in every other universe, you’re wearing that wedding dress. You’re smiling and happy because I’ll be waiting at the altar, and I’ll cry. I’ll cry when I feel you walk down with orchids on your hand. And we’ll exchange our vows, and I’ll kiss you before the priest announces us man and wife because I just couldn’t wait. I couldn’t wait.”
A laugh escapes her lips.
“And then we’ll make a fool of ourselves for our dance because what exactly can you expect from a blind man and a woman with an insanely long train of dress?”
“Oh, Matt,” She cries, pulling him for another hug “I love you so much.”
“I know, Baby,” He breathes “I love you even more.”
“Promise me this is the only universe where we don’t end up together.”
Matt pulls away. His thumb caresses her skin gently before pulling her for a kiss. The very last kiss they would share in this lifetime, “I promise.”

All These Years [Part 6: "The White Whale"]
Pairing: Matt Murdock x Fem!Reader
[You can find the full series summary and masterlist of installments for All These Years here.]
Warnings/tags: 18+ for this series; contains emotional hurt with no comfort until the final installments, angst, pining, friends to lovers, slowburn, and eventually smut
Word Count: 4k
a/n: This installment is entirely in Matt's POV! Probably one of the only ones in this series that will be. As I was writing I knew I needed to do a last minute title change to this installment, too, because it went in a different direction. Hopefully what you learn from this installment only makes everything in this series hurt so much more. There are end notes on this, too because I feel like you'll need it. Feedback is always appreciated!

“This place isn’t so bad,” Foggy mused.
Matt could hear the way Foggy’s head turned, clearly taking in the view of the dive bar around them. It smelled pungently of must and mildew and clearly there had been a good bit of alcohol spilled and left to dry along the floors, but otherwise it was alright here. At least it wasn’t too loud. The classic rock music playing over the speakers wasn’t blaring like the pop music playing in most bars he’d gone to always was. It never failed to give him a headache and make him duck out early.
“Well it’s not that loud, at least,” Matt replied.
Foggy nudged Matt’s arm with his elbow sharply. Matt could hear the pull of Foggy’s muscles drawing his mouth into a smile. He wished he could work himself up into even a sliver of that excitement for tonight.
“Come on,” Foggy pressed. “It’s the first night in a while that we’ve gotten out and have been able to do something that doesn’t involve paperwork. And we’re getting the three amigos back together again! Smile, dammit!”
Matt’s focus dropped towards the table, his hand tightening around the neck of his bottle of beer. He hadn’t had a chance to see you in weeks, and it had been weeks before that, too. Landman and Zack had managed to keep him and Foggy plenty busy since the three of you had graduated a few months back. And he was happy to finally see you again–that is, he would’ve been if it actually was going to be just the three of you tonight. But no, you were bringing a boyfriend . The first one you’d actually ever had since Matt had known you.
And it had made him sick to his stomach thinking about it all day today.
“Yeah, it’s been a while,” was all he could muster in response.
He drew his beer to his lips, taking a long pull. He was hoping to get at least a buzz going before the two of you showed up. He didn’t want to be sober having to listen to the way your body reacted to your boyfriend all night.
The truth of it was, Matt wanted you. And he’d wanted you since he first met you.
No, actually, that wasn’t accurate, either.
Matt had wanted you for an entire semester before he’d ever actually met you in the library. He had first encountered you on campus in the late evening. He’d overheard someone trip on the sidewalk farther up ahead of him, spilling their books and their papers everywhere. They’d quietly cursed to themselves as they knelt down to collect their things. Matt could tell they’d been close to tears, too. He figured they’d been having a bad day already as they quietly fumed to themselves while others just passed them by on the sidewalk, leaving them to pick up their scattered belongings alone.
But then you’d stumbled upon them, stepping off to the side and crouching down to help them pick up the mess without hesitation. You’d sounded sweet and gentle when you’d greeted them, offering them some kind words and a warm smile that Matt thought he could almost feel as he eavesdropped. He’d oddly found himself affected by you, taking a moment to pause on the side of the sidewalk, pretending he was checking a voicemail on his phone as he tuned into your interaction. He had felt like a creep but he couldn’t seem to stop himself.
And then he'd been fascinated by you afterwards, your voice and the scent of you plaguing his mind. He'd spent weeks trying to run across you on campus again. He'd lied and told Fog he'd actually bumped into you that night since he was unable to tell him how he'd really stumbled on you. His heightened senses were a secret even to Foggy. But then he and Foggy had often talked about you afterwards–the pair of them had spent all semester referring to you as Matt's White Whale. He'd been relentlessly searching for you around campus whenever he wasn’t busy with his studies or on a date. But then he'd discovered you around the science buildings right before the beginning of winter break. Unfortunately you’d managed to disappear during those few weeks before the next semester started, Matt being unable to pick up on you again.
He'd then spent all of winter break telling Fog how he'd planned to linger around that building when classes resumed, hoping to catch your voice again–or in reality, the scent of your pheromones and the beat of your heart. He was certain he’d recognize both of them. Him and Fog had spent many a night throwing back beers and coming up with many amusing and ridiculous schemes of how Matt might actually have a chance to meet you.
When classes did resume that following semester, Matt had often frequented the science building in his free moments. And even though Matt had still gone out and enjoyed the attention of other women during that time–something that had been quite a thrilling contrast from his life before college, considering he’d come fresh from St. Agnes–he couldn’t seem to shake you from his mind. Many times he caught himself wondering where he could take you on a date, or what your favorite food might be. He desperately wanted to know what subject you studied. He wanted to know your name and how your voice sounded when you finally said his. He wondered what music you liked and what your shampoo would smell like if he ever had the chance to press his nose into your hair.
And then one fateful day when he’d been at the library working on research for a class, he’d caught the scent of you unexpectedly. His mouth had gone dry and his mind had momentarily gone blank in surprise. You were there. In the library. With him.
It had sounded like you were on your phone and making your way towards him. Matt had panicked, unsure in the moment how to actually catch your attention and strike up a conversation. In his haste to make sure his chance hadn’t disappeared on him, he’d abruptly stepped out of the aisle he was in, arms laden with books, and accidentally miscalculated how far away you were. You’d ran right into him and startled him in return, causing him to drop his books on the ground and your toe. He felt awful when he’d heard you shout but then he couldn’t resist the laugh at your strange outburst.
But when you’d actually looked at who you’d run into, Matt had instantly picked up on all the telltale signs of your physical attraction to him. The increase in your pheromones had driven him crazy and his nerves completely disappeared, that confidence he had with every other young woman he’d flirted with on campus quickly taking over.
He thought he’d had you that day. It seemed a sure thing when he’d asked for your number and you’d given it to him. But then he invited you over to his dorm a few days later on Saturday night. He had every intention to take you out on a date and bring you back to an empty dorm room–if he was lucky enough and you’d wanted that. Because God he had certainly been thinking about you in very sinful ways over those few days. His thoughts had been driving him wild and he desperately hoped sex with you would help ease those persistent and nagging desires. If he could just experience it, maybe you wouldn’t be clouding his damn senses and taking up so much space in his thoughts. Though he worried if he got a taste he’d just want more, like you were some sort of drug to him.
But you’d shown up early that night, and Matt hadn’t technically called it a date. He’d asked for you to ‘hang out’, which admittedly was what he always called it. Usually the women he spent time with knew what he meant, but you’d shown up early and Foggy hadn’t left yet. He’d inevitably introduced the pair of you, hoping to segue into you and him leaving–but you and Foggy had instantly hit it off.
You’d both bonded over a Red Hot Chili Peppers song Foggy was playing, apparently it being both of yours’ favorite song by them. And then that turned into a long discussion about music and the bands you’d both seen, which had led to jokes being shared. Your laughter had sounded amazing to Matt’s ears, but he’d sat there on the end of his bed dumbfounded. You and Fog had almost identical interests. You so quickly warmed up to him. And he could read your body’s reaction that night–you were eliciting all of the signs of attraction.
To Foggy.
While Matt was just sitting there on his bed, you were beside Foggy displaying every sign to Matt that you were interested in Foggy . Not him.
It had crushed him. All of those weeks of trying to find you, all of those nights of you plaguing his mind, and you liked Foggy . He hadn't even told Fog you were the White Whale ahead of time, hoping not to jinx things, but in the end things had wound up going awry for Matt anyway.
He’d tried to remain hopeful that he’d gotten it wrong, but then the pair of you began Saturday nights as a weekly thing. Both of you were always texting after that. And you always seemed so eager to come over to see him. Always spending so much time with him. And every time you showed up, you’d be giving off every damn clue that you were attracted to him. It only took a couple of weeks before Matt gave up and went back to what he’d been doing–sleeping around. He couldn’t have you, so he figured he’d have whoever else he could. And when Foggy had asked him about his White Whale again, he’d sadly told him it hadn’t worked out. He’d never mentioned the White Whale again.
Though it was always strange to Matt that you’d never done anything more with Foggy. Anytime Matt hadn’t been around for the Saturday nights the pair of you spent together and he had occasionally popped back in, you often reacted like he’d interrupted something, your body going into overdrive. But you were always studying or hanging out, never anything more.
It didn’t make sense until he’d finally gotten something like an answer out of you that one night he’d upset you at the bar. He’d had a brief moment of hope when he heard your body reacting as you were looking at him, wondering if it was actually him you were reacting to like that first time in the library. He’d somehow hoped in that moment that he’d gotten everything all wrong, that it was him that you somehow liked all this time, and in his haste to say the right thing, he’d said the wrong thing.  Especially with that stupid comment about being your wingman. And he’d really upset you to the point that you’d left the bar early near tears. He wanted to chase after you but he had no reason to realistically do so–he wasn’t supposed to be able to know you were crying as you walked back to your dorm, but he did. So when Foggy had spotted Marci, he’d been thrilled to have an excuse to leave, dodging some woman who’d tried to sleep with him before hurrying after you.
But then you’d broke his heart again because you were upset over Fog. He couldn’t deny it after you’d admitted to only being seen as a friend by the person you had feelings for and then breaking down crying on him. Because Matt had been too thoughtless with his words and told you Foggy was chatting with Marci–the girl you both knew he’d been talking about recently. Why else would you have started crying? If you’d had feelings for him he was certain you’d have said something then and there with how he’d been trying to talk you up all night. Telling you any guy would be lucky to take you on a date–which obviously included him.
That night had cemented it for him. You were in love with Foggy. As much as Matt hated seeing how hurt you were sitting in the friend zone with him, he selfishly didn’t want to bring it to Foggy’s attention because he knew it would absolutely kill him to watch Foggy with you . The one he could never get out of his head. He did his best to ignore it as the months and years went by, intentionally trying to ignore whatever your body was doing because it hurt too fucking much to listen to it.
When Elektra had come into his life, she’d certainly been the first one to come close enough to shaking you from his mind. He’d fallen for her fast and hard, especially when she saw every single dark part about him and still never turned him away. She saw him for everything he was–including his heightened senses that neither you nor Fog had any clue about–and she loved him for it. Or, he thought she had. And even she had pointed out how crazy you seemed about Foggy. How you were attached to his hip like a lovesick puppy she’d said. How you always spent all your time with him. Her words only further cemented it in his mind that he would never have you. Not as anything more than his best friend.
That knowledge broke him twice as hard when Elektra left. Because you’d been there for him, encouraging him. Being the absolutely wonderful, beautiful person you were. He didn’t deserve it, either. He’d been an asshole to you when he’d been with Elektra. He was still being an asshole to you when he continued to keep his mouth shut to Fog about your feelings–because he was selfish and never wanted to see you with him. Instead he’d eventually gone back to burying himself in a different girl when he had the chance, especially the closer it had gotten to graduation. He was afraid he’d lose you after the three of you graduated from Columbia, the dark thought constantly lingering in his mind.
He’d almost kissed you that night, too. That night it was just you and him cuddled together on his bed after graduation. The last night in your dorms. He’d been overcome with the urge to just tell you everything and kiss you, but then he’d caught the feeling of your panic when he’d so carefully cradled your face in the palm of his hand, desperate to finally feel your lips on his. To hear you tell him you cared for him, too. But all he’d felt was your fear in that moment instead. You must’ve realized he was about to say something, that he’d been about to possibly kiss you, and you panicked at the thought of it. Because Foggy was asleep in the bed across from both of you and you loved him . So he’d bit the words back and said the first thing that came to his mind instead of what he really wanted to. And it fucking killed him to do so.
Now, here you all were getting together months later, and you were bringing your boyfriend. Clearly you’d tried to move on from Fog, but that didn’t make things hurt any less for Matt. He hadn’t moved on from you. He wasn’t sure if he ever would be able to at this rate. And he certainly tried–he’d fucked a few interns at Landman and Zack, but none of them made him forget how it felt to wake up beside you that morning he had after Elektra had left him.
“Oh hey, I think that’s them!” Foggy said excitedly.
His words drew Matt back to this miserable moment, the sound of Foggy’s hand waving the pair of you over only deepening the frown on his face. He didn’t want this asshole here with his arm around you. Probably kissing you in front of him. He wanted to be the one doing that. Not this random guy who’d recently popped into your life and didn’t know you like Matt did. It felt wrong .
“Hey guys!” your cheery voice greeted the pair of them.
Matt quickly did his best to tune out the sound of your body and ignore the faint scent of your arousal that abruptly hit him when you’d reached the table. His hand tightened around his bottle of beer again. Your boyfriend’s scent was mixed with yours and it didn’t sit right with Matt. It pissed him off, actually. For some reason he really wanted to hit this guy.
Foggy greeted you brightly with your name and then he felt your eyes land on him expectantly. The smile noticeably faltered on your face, he could hear it in the way your muscles shifted. Raising his head from the table, he forced a smile onto his mouth and greeted you with your name in return.
“Guys this is Liam,” you said, introducing your boyfriend.
“It’s so nice to finally meet you!” Foggy exclaimed, reaching out a hand. “I’m Foggy.”
Liam reached out, accepting the handshake in return. Matt ground his teeth together as he listened to the interaction.
“I’ve heard so many stories about you both,” Liam was saying, his attention turning to Matt as Foggy released his hand. “You must be Matt, right?”
Matt knew Liam was extending a hand out towards him, he heard the air shift in front of him when he did. He also knew it was usually the polite thing to do to at least extend his own hand out when he introduced himself, allowing the other person to reach out and shake his hand. But he didn’t want to shake Liam’s hand. He didn’t want to be his friend. He didn’t want him here .
“Yeah, that’s me,” Matt replied.
He heard the way Liam’s hand awkwardly lowered back to his side after a few uncomfortable seconds. He could practically feel the three sets of eyes on him. That had been rude, but he didn’t care.
“How about I get us a drink?” Liam asked, turning to you.
“Sure, that’d be great!” you responded. “A beer would be good.”
When Liam leaned towards you and kissed you, Matt thought he was going to break the beer bottle with how hard he was gripping the neck of it. He even caught the light tap to your ass before he’d sauntered off to the bar, wishing he could’ve been as oblivious to that as Foggy was. Or to the way it’d made you blush.
“You seem happy,” Foggy said, reaching across the table and playfully slapping your shoulder. “How’ve you been?”
“Good!” you answered, your tone bright. “The job’s gotten a lot better now that the stress of being the newbie is past. How’ve you guys been? How’s the internship going? Still busy?”
Foggy blew out an exaggerated breath. “ Exhausting . We’ve been drowning in paperwork and menial tasks, but there’s apparently two positions opening up in a few months and I think Matt and I are in line for it.”
“Oh my God!” you exclaimed, your attention turning towards Matt. “That’s awesome! You guys deserve it!”
Matt’s heart might have skipped a beat at the sound of your excitement for them. He noticed your eyes lingering on him. Probably because he was being uncharacteristically silent tonight. And rude.
“So how’d you meet Liam? How long have you both been together?” Foggy asked, bringing his beer to his mouth for a drink.
Matt could tell you’d nervously ducked your head at the question, tucking some hair behind your ear. It was cute. You were cute. He wished you acted like that when asked about him instead of Liam .
“Just a couple of weeks,” you admitted. “It’s still new. I actually met him at a coffee shop–or, technically outside of it. We sort of grabbed each others’ drinks on accident. He was the one who’d noticed, I was just hurrying to get back home for work. He’d had to chase me down a block.”
You laughed and the sound was like a knife to Matt’s heart. You liked this guy. And that fucking hurt.
“He was sweet and had some terrible jokes,” you continued. “For some reason he asked me out to dinner and then, well–” you shrugged, “–here we are now.”
You cleared your throat, your attention nervously darting to Foggy and then back to himself before you ducked your head again. Matt’s eyes narrowed behind his glasses curiously, wondering what that had been about until you spoke again.
“So uh, are you two seeing anyone?” you asked.
Your tone was pitched higher than usual and Matt instantly guessed the reasoning. His eyes closed behind his glasses, his heart further sinking in his chest.
You still liked Foggy, didn’t you? He’d never have a chance with you.
“Well it turns out Marci is actually interning at Landman and Zack, too,” Foggy replied. “But uh, she still isn’t too interested in being serious. But I’m working on her!”
Your attention shifted to him, your heart having sped up at Foggy’s words. Probably upset because he was still pursuing Marci instead of you. He could sympathize with your heartache.
“And…what about you, Matt?” you asked, voice suddenly quieter.
He focused on you standing directly across from him at the table. You were gripping it firmly in both of your hands, your heart still beating a little faster after Foggy’s admission. He swallowed hard, trying to hide his emotions behind his glasses.
Still hopelessly in love with you.
“Ever the bachelor,” he said with a tense smile. “You know me.”
You’d opened your mouth to respond, but Liam had appeared at your side, cutting you off. He handed you your beer and you’d smiled when he’d kissed you on the cheek. Matt’s attention dropped back down on the table, his jaw clenched yet again. This was going to be a long night, he could already tell.
Maybe he could find an excuse to head out early. Claim he wasn’t feeling well or something. There was something he was thinking about doing tonight, something he’d recently picked up. The thought of it was sounding better and better the lower Liam slid his hand down your back. And it’d certainly be a better outlet beating an asshole who truly deserved it than your boyfriend. Plus if Foggy wasn’t at the apartment, well, then it’d be all the easier for him to slip in and out. Though he really needed to focus on getting his own place soon so he could keep his nightly activities private. He certainly couldn’t tell either of you what he got up to in the evenings. Maybe he’d just use the excuse to Fog that he needed his own place to bring women back to without having to constantly worry about a roommate. He’d surely buy that line. He already thought he was often out sleeping around as it was.
For the next half hour, Matt quietly drank down his beer, barely adding much to the conversation unless you or Foggy had directly acknowledged him. Shortly after he’d finished his drink, he’d made up an excuse about a bad headache. Despite the boisterous round of protests from you and Foggy, he’d departed the bar and made his way back to the apartment. When he’d gotten there, he’d wasted no time quickly dressing in the all black outfit he kept hidden in the false bottom of his father’s steamer trunk at the foot of his bed. Pulling the fabric of a mask over the majority of his face, he slipped out of his bedroom window, landing on the fire escape almost soundlessly. And then he was off scouring the rooftops of Hell’s Kitchen, ready to loose the anger he’d kept inside of himself tonight on someone who truly deserved it.

[END NOTES--which are always on my AO3 fics and give more insight & I figured some of you might want it for this installment]
Reader has a boyfriend in here! And we find out Matt has had feelings for Reader long before that interaction at the library. And he's been repeatedly misinterpreting her body to think that it's Foggy she's reacting to instead of him (even if he's aware of the physical attraction she has to him), especially with the knowledge that she has feelings for a friend. Doesn't help that Elektra intentionally fed him lies to further push that idea into his mind. Not to mention, Reader does panic when Matt is about to kiss her on graduation night, and Matt completely misreads the reasoning behind her body's reaction. And these idiots both keep saying that they're each other's 'friend' repeatedly. Plus it probably doesn't help that Matt intentionally tries to ignore her body so he doesn't have to hear it reacting to Fog (when really its him). And clearly Reader is often misinterpreting Matt's reactions to things (and he's also hiding it).
There you have it folks. They're both hopelessly in love with each other and have been for years. But no one is opening their damn mouth. Now Reader is dating someone else.
Oh, and Matt is now becoming the Devil of Hell's Kitchen, if you didn't catch that. But Foggy thinks he's out sleeping around. And therefore Reader probably does, too.

Six years since the Gladers had made it out of that godforsaken maze. Six years since WCKED was taken down. Six years since they had found the safe haven.
Six years since Tereasa died. Leaving Thomas alone to raise you, their infant daughter.
Those six years, while nothing but a blessing- a gift of being out of that maze, being free of WCKED- have been years full of hardship.
Not all of it was hardship though, of course, Thomas loved you more than anything in the world. You were a miracle in his eyes.
But after having you, he thought that it would be him and Teresa raising you- together.
Sure, he had all of his friends- his family- to help him. They had done more for him- for you- then they would ever know, but it wasn’t the same.
You never had a mother, and you never knew the difference between having one or not.
There were other children that were about your age on the island, ones from families that had been taken in by Thomas and his friends and offered sanctuary.
So when you all weren’t in the school that was set up, you were all playing off together somewhere.
To Thomas’s knowledge, that’s where you were right now.
“Where’s the little pipsqueak?” A voice sounded from behind the man.
Thomas turned, finding Minho leaning against a wall behind him with his arms crossed lazily over his chest.
The man smiled lightly, leaning back on a desk behind him, “With the other kids, where else?”
Minho's eyebrows furrowed slightly, “The other kids? She’s not with them.”
Despite not having any idea what his friend was talking about, Thomas still felt his heart stutter and pause for a beat.
“What do you mean?” He asked lowly.
It had been six years without any problems that were anything like what they had experienced in the past, but that didn’t mean that Thomas ever forgot what it felt like, ever let go of the past.
Even though he might not look it, there was a part of him that was always on alert. Always tense. Waiting for something to happen.
Minho's face grew more concerned, “All the kids were playing at the bay, n/n wasn't with them. I came over because I wanted to see if she wanted to come help me make dessert with Frypan.”
The room was spinning. The lights were too bright. The air was too suffocating-
Thomas felt for a moment as though he couldn’t breathe.
In reality, it might not have been a big deal, you could’ve just wandered off to talk to Brenda or Gally, but your felt as though he was going into full on panic mode.
Too much had happened in his life, too much had been taken from him, too much had gone wrong.
You couldn’t be next. You couldn’t.
You were the only thing that kept him going after your mother died.
Immediately, Thomas pulled himself back together, and left the room, Minho following closely behind him.
The men fell into step side by side as their heads whipped around, eyes searching for any sign of you as they trekked through the built town of the safe haven.
Frypan emerged from his home, frowning slightly as he looked at the pair and raised his hand to shield his eyes from the sun, “What’s going on?” He called out.
“We don’t know where Y/n is.” Minho answered, Thomas too focused on looking to do so himself.
That was all it took for Fry to fall into step beside them too.
That’s how it went, house after house, until all of the surviving Gladers- plus Jorge and Brenda- were looking all over for you.
You were nowhere to be seen.
The sound of laughter made the groups ears all perk up as they turned to see the kids that had been down by the water running up, shoving each other slightly.
“Kids, have you seen Y/n?” Minho immediately asked.
Quickly, all of the children glanced at each other before shaking their heads back and forth so fast that it looked as though they were going to get whiplash.
The man’s eyes narrowed suspiciously at them, but before he could open his mouth to question them further, they rushed past him and to their respective houses.
The group of adults blinked at their retreating backs.
Thomas felt his heart tighten even more in his chest.
“She’s in the woods.” A small voice spoke up.
They all whipped back around to see one little girl still standing there, kicking her toe sheepishly at the ground.
That was all it took for Thomas to turn on his heel and barrel towards the cluster of trees just on the outskirts of all of the buildings.
His heart was hammering so loudly in his chest that he was sure the others, running a few feet behind him, could hear it loud and clear.
He ran and ran, dodging trees and narrowly missing bushes until a sound other than slamming footsteps reached his ears. It was so faint that he barely even heard it.
Sniffles.
Thomas pulled himself to a stop, peering around the tree in front of him, only to see you, with your legs pulled up to your chest and your back against a large rock, crying into your arms.
He heard the others come to a stop behind him, “Thanks, guys, I got it from here.” He whispered, not tearing his eyes away from you.
They were clearly just relieved that you were there, because they nodded and went back the way they came without a word.
“N/n?” Thomas’s voice was soft as he carefully approached, “Are you alright, sweetheart?”
Your head snapped up at the sound of your fathers voice and he felt as though his heart shattered into a thousand small pieces.
Not only was your hair tousled every which way, but your eyes were red and puffy and your cheeks were tear stained.
Quickly, you tried to wipe them away, but Thomas sank into a crouch in front of you and gently grabbed your hands, pulling them away from your face, “What’s wrong?” He asked gently, eyes scanning your face.
Your bottom lip wobbled despite your clear efforts to make it seem as though you were okay, a stubborn trait you no doubt got from him.
Gently, he moved a fallen strand of hair behind your ear.
That was all it took for you to start sobbing once more.
“The- the other kids-“ You stuttered out, hiccuping slightly, “They were being really- really mean. They said it was weird that I don’t have a mom- and- and that makes me a freak.”
The sadness in Thomas’s heart was quickly met with a sea of fiery rage.
“They said that to you?” It took every fiber of the man’s being to keep himself from clenching his fists and setting his jaw.
He knew from experience that if you were upset and he got angry- even if it wasn’t directed at you- it would just make things worse.
So instead of scooping you up and angrily marching to find those other kids and their parents, he sighed gently, “Honey, can I hug you?”
He also knew that it was better to ask, just in case you reacted negatively.
In response, you fell into his open arms and sobbed into his shirt.
“Shh,” He shushed you, combing his fingers through your hair, “Hey, don’t cry on me. They don’t deserve your tears.”
It took a while until you finally calmed down, reduced to hiccups and sniffles.
And Thomas held you until you did, rocking you gently as he comforted you to the best of his ability.
“Honey, listen to me.” He pulled back slightly so he could look you in the eyes, “You are not a freak. You are the kindest, sweetest, most funny girl I know. And if your mother was here, she would think so too.”
Your eyes lit up as you stared up at your father, “Really? You think so?”
He leaned forward and placed a kiss on your forehead, “I know so.” He promised, “Now, come on.” He lifted you so you were propped up against his hip, “I think Uncle Minho would like to bake with you and Fry while I go talk to those kids and their parents.”

Matt whimpering while giving him a hand job would make me the happiest women on this planet 😵‍💫
He loved sweatpants. Those grey cotton sweatpants that he used as workout clothes and pajamas. He would wear them so much that they were going thin in places and some small holes would form on the hems.
He particularly loved walking around with those damn sweatpants alone. The grey-gartered hems hung low on his hip the hair near his crotch would peek through.
He loved that they were soft on his skin, soft enough that it wouldn’t overwhelm him. That’s why when he’s at home he takes the comfort to the next level by not wearing underwear at all.
So one fateful day of the two of you on the couch, you straddled him to give him a kiss when you felt his cock harden beneath you. His eyes widened, his body tense like you struck a nerve.
"Shit—” You chuckled. Your fingertips trace the sharp edges of his muscular form. A lone finger found its way to his hard nipples. He groaned from the touch, his mouth agape. You take it as a sign to pepper his neck with soft kisses. “Need help with this?” you said, rubbing your ass on the hard tip.
“Please sweetheart—” he pleaded. You untied his sweatpants, pulling them to his lower thigh so as to gain access to his hard cock. It was aching and red, a bead of wetness forming on the tip. The pad of your fingers swirling around the sensitive head made him groan, his hips shuddering from the contact.
You looked down at his cock, letting a string of spit drip on his cock. Your hands form a cylindrical grip on the hardness, stroking and teasing the tip to elicit moans. Matt told you he was never a vocal man in bed, but with you, he was the loudest.
You started to move your hips on his lap, moving them at the same pace as your hands around his cock. A wet hand teases his nipple, lightly pinching and flicking it. You expected him to groan or grunt but he whimpered. A whimper came out of his pink lips.
“Your hands are so soft,” he coos. “Feels too good—” One hand cupped his balls, the other stroking closer to the tip where it was more sensitive. You rubbed your wet palm in circular motions on the head. Matt felt like his body would start to shake, his senses blocked out at this point, and all he could focus on was your hands on his dick.
His hands were tight on the sofa, gripping tightly it almost tore the fabric. He wanted to bend you over and spank you, take you for his own pleasure, but he didn’t want this to end, he needed to cum from your hands alone.
 You added more spit to your hands, your strokes becoming more sloppy from the wetness. His cock leaks precum on your hands, only adding more to the sensation on his cock. Matt bit his lips, trying to stifle his desperate whimpers. “Let them out, Matt. Let it all out for me please.”
“Fuck—I’m gonna cum,” he grunts. “Can’t keep it any longer.” He started to thrust on your hand, his hips going fast into your grip. The couch creaks from his movements, you take it up a notch by stroking even faster and gripping harder. Matt was whimpering so much, his chest heaving, his eyes rolling far back into his skull.  His body started to convulse, cum spewing to his chest, some reaching to you. You taste the cum on the corner of your lips, warm wetness all over your neck. He was a panting mess beneath you, his head fell back on the couch all spent up. You lick the cum off your lips and his chest, leaving kisses all over his overstimulated body. “Good morning Mr. Murdock,” you smiled. He let out an exasperated laugh.

A/N: This is my first time writing for something not TASM!Peter Parker so please be gentle. This is not very good but it’s enough and I wanted to get it out there.
Tumblr media
You owed your life to Mathew Murdock, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page. Karen was able to track you down as a potential target for Fisk. You worked at a firm, and much like her, you came across something you weren’t supposed to see. She brought you to the office and introduced you to the two people who would help in the fight for your life.
And fight they did, hell they won! Hell’s Kitchen: washed by hallowed hues at the death of Fisk’s control. Children were out playing in the summer heat, and you could, once again, sleep at night.
Word got around that Nelson and Murdock were the ones to bag him, and since then, the office has been booming. As secretary, you helped each person fill out forms before handing the list of clients to Karen so the boys could go over them.
Matt was quite the charmer. It was a well-known fact. You would be lying if you said you hadn’t been playing into it. Matt was passionate and fiercely loyal. You were honoured that he felt your situation demanded such responses. Matt was also kind and truly empathetic. He was funny and seemed to anticipate your every need. He knew when you needed tea or food or just a friend.
You had a close call with Fisk a few months ago. Some of his men grabbed you off the street to get information from you. It was terrifying, and you were still healing from the torture you endured. The next day you stalled, organising files instead of leaving the office.
Matt seemed to know what you were doing and allowed you to get away with it for a while. Lost in a sea of manilla envelopes, you almost missed him clearing his throat. You argued back and forth on whether or not you should leave the office, and just when you thought you had won, he struck a deal.
“I won’t make you go home, you can stay with me, but you should get some rest.” You took his hand and prayed he didn’t notice your shaking fingers as you guided it to your arm. The whole walk, Matt made you laugh and held you close. That night you realised just how deeply you cared for him. While he treated your wounds, both physical and mental, you realised you had fallen for him.
It was Friday night and Foggy had run off to the bathroom, alcohol always ran right through him, and Karen had stepped away to take a call leaving you and Matt alone at the pool table. You were terrible at pool, and it made you feel better to know someone here was almost as useless at it as you. You leaned against your cue, watching Matt try and line up a shot with no guidance.
You giggled as he gently knocked an orange ball with his cue. He quickly grabbed it and patted around the green velvet to find another ball. “You know, it’s not nice to laugh at a blind man trying his best.”
He lined up a shot against two pool balls in a random direction. “I’m not laughing at a blind man. I’m laughing at my friend- who happens to suck at pool.”
A discernible clinking sound rang through the bar as a slew of pool balls bolted in all directions. “Well, from what I can tell, you suck too.”
A purple four bounced its way into a pocket but you were too lost in Matt’s smirk and dimples to care. He just looked so pretty leaning over the pool table, muscles pulled taut under his dress shirt and teeth gleaming in the dingy lighting. You took another swig of your beer, feeling yourself flush the longer you looked.
Matt walked around the table, now in front of you. He looked just over your head, probably not realising how close you were. “So far, only one of us has scored.”
You scoffed, a small smile finding its way onto your face.
“Technically, it doesn’t count because you didn’t hit it off the cue ball, you hit it off of a different one. Furthermore, you’re stripes and you pocketed a solid so Karen and I get that point.”
Matt brings his head down and you think for a moment that maybe he can see you. The thought makes you nervous. Would he like what he sees?
“So either it counts as your point or not all? Now it seems you’re trying to take advantage of a blind man.”
He was leaning forward, a hand in his pocket, levelling your gaze. You were trying not to choke in the stuffy room. He was entirely too close and you wanted him closer. Unfortunately, your body was frozen, trapping you in this paradox of proximity.
“Not a blind man,” you repeated your words from earlier, “my friend.”
Just then, Foggy returned, pulling you two apart. You told him about the point you had earned and he argued the defence of his “client,” making you laugh. The night passed on with tremendous smiles and total glee.
It was getting late and you were reaching your limit. Foggy had a rule, “If the beer starts tasting good, quit while your ahead.” And you had to admit, the warm barley notes were starting to hit the spot. Karen had similar concerns and Foggy offered to walk her home. You didn’t miss the wink he sent you when leaving you alone with Matt. You tried to level your wavering voice before calling out to him.
“Let’s call it a night, yeah? Come on, I’ll walk you home.” You moved to link your arms, but Matt’s hand found yours before you could. His hand on your wrist, stopping you from holding his arm.
“No, it’s okay. I can make it home just fine. It’s late and I don’t want you walking these streets alone.” You rolled your eyes, then chuckled as you told him you just did so.
“Look, I’ll walk you home and take a cab back. You only live four blocks away.” You watched as Matt’s jaw twitched, almost as if he were chewing up his thoughts. Your favourite side smile soon came to view and you knew you had won.
You walked with Matt down the streets of Hell’s Kitchen. Well, you skipped and jumped and jived while Matt strolled down the street. Your heart felt so light, you couldn’t help but fall into a jovial nature, not when Matt was smiling at you like that.
“Dance with me, Murdock!” You grabbed his hands and he laughed.
“I don’t know if I’m any good,” He warned you.
“You don’t need to see to dance.” You placed a hand over his heart, “Dancing is a feeling.”
He folded up his cane before reaching out to you. You led one hand to your waist and took the other in yours. You began to step and Matt stumbled as he tried to follow along. You were both giggling at his failed attempt at dancing but you refused to give up.
“Here,” You scooted closer until your shoes knocked his. “Put your toes on my feet, then you can feel when I move.”
He did as you said and you looked up at his face. He was so close, you wanted to run your hands through his hair, to trace every line and fleck of colour. His head was turned down to his feet and you studied every follicle and pore, committing him to memory.
“Okay, I’m ready.” He spoke so softly as if scared to startle you. You cleared your throat, hoping it might also dissipate some of the thoughts running through your brain. You began moving to a simple waltz, humming a song as you slowly move your feet.
Matt was catching on and in a moment of courage, he stepped away from your feet and continued to dance. His steps were more sure as he began to pick up speed, taking strides down the sidewalk with you. He pushed you out into a spin before pulling you back in and giving you a dip.
Your laughter rang through the paved streets and past the street lights guiding you home. He pulled you back up and you were once again at a loss of breath. Matt’s smile was blinding even in the late night hours. His arms were wrapped around your waist, firm and sure in their grip.
He pulled away making your brain feel fuzzy. He grabbed your arm again, and you brought your hand over to rest on his in the crook of your elbow. The rest of the walk was quiet, you spent the time deep in your head. Matt insisted on waiting until you were safe in the cab before he went inside and you watched him in the warm orange glow as you drove off.
Friday night, once again. Josie’s was just as loud as always, the peculiar patrons crowding in for the same warm beer and cheap drinks as you. And they were pouring freely as laughter rang through the air. The four of you shared from a pitcher of beer that sat in the middle of the table.
You and Foggy had a rapport that everyone enjoyed. You see, Foggy would pour himself some more beer and then he would go to pour you some, but you would raise your hand and tell him, “I’m okay, thanks.” But Foggy would just cock a brow at you before saying, “I insist”. Who were you to argue that?
This system made sure everyone stayed decently drunk and happy. You were very happy, actually. Your favourite people were surrounding you in your favourite place. What more could you ask for? Matt switching seats with Foggy when he went to get another pitcher was an excellent addition. As was the way his hand continuously brushed against yours on the table.
Some pool and friendly banter later, it was time to leave Josie’s once again. Karen and Foggy left first like they always do. You began cleaning up around the pool table, trying to stall, not quite ready to leave.
“Hey, can I walk you home?” Matt’s smile was small but kind. You nodded, making your way around the table to link arms.
“I assume that’s a ‘yes’.” You laughed as you confirmed his thought.
As you walk down the empty street, you feel your heart pounding in your chest. You really like Matt. You had a plan in your head, and you knew you needed to act on it tonight or you never would. You instead focused on explaining every funny sign you saw on your way to your apartment. The walk was shorter than you expected it to be. You weren’t quite ready to leave Matt just yet. You saw the entrance to your apartment complex and sighed.
“What if we just kept walking? I mean how would you know if we’ve made it yet?” Matt let out a low chuckle.
“I have your address saved. I would just pull it up on my phone.” You laughed along, stopping in front of the steps.
“I guess you’re right.” You stood in front of Matt as he leaned on his staff, his folded hands supporting his chin. You scuffed your shoes against the cracked sidewalk, working up the courage to say what you had rehearsed in the shower every day for the past week.
Just as Matt was about to open his mouth, probably to ask what your deal was, you spit out, “Hey, I uh…I made you something.”
You face palmed and started mouthing criticisms to yourself. “What is it?”
Matt was smiling, thoroughly enjoying your awkward attempt at conversing. You reached into your back pocket and pulled out the braided materials. “It’s a bracelet.”
He made no effort to open his hand to you. Instead, he dropped his smile and steeled his face. That all-familiar twitch in his jaw showed more stress and concern than joy.
“I um-I used to make a lot of those friendship bracelets as a kid and I just...thought I should make you one. But then I remembered you can’t really see colour or patterns so I had to get creative. I uh-I used my shoelace and some duct tape.”
Matt did nothing to end your rambling. He listened intently to your words, your pulse, your muscles tensing, feeling the change in your body temperature. You waited patiently for his response, but when none came you continued.
“If you don’t want it that’s fine. You don’t have to take it. Actually, it’s kinda stupid, never mind. I shouldn’t have-” He could hear your fingers fumbling as you went to put it away.
Matt put his hand in front of you, palm outstretched. “No, You absolutely should have. Thank you.”
You tentatively place it in his palm and watch his face carefully as he turns it over in his hands. His smile seems more forced than before. “I love it, thank you.”
“You already said that.” You chuckled, trying to bury your embarrassment.
“Well, it bares repeating. Thank you, (Y/n).” You searched his face for any indication that he was lying, but you couldn’t find any.
He pulled on his sleeve before extending his arm to you, the bracelet pinched between his fingers. “Will you put it on for me?”
You tried to calm your breathing as you fastened it around his wrist, checking that it wasn’t too tight or loose. You started to pull away when he opened his palm to you again. You pinched your eyebrows in confusion at the gesture.
“That’s my subtle way of asking if I can hold your hand.” You cover your mouth, chuckling, “I would really like to, but I didn’t really wanna risk messing that up.”
You place your hand in his palm, and it feels so warm. His skin is rough and calloused. You feel so small in his grasp. You brought your other hand up to trace along the new jewellery on his wrist. There was quiet again but in a different way. This was peaceful, this was…right.
“Thank you, (Y/n). This is the nicest thing anyone’s ever given me.” You fought back a laugh.
“I’m sure that’s not true, but thank you all the same.” Matt turned his head, directly facing you and took a step forward. You couldn’t see his eyes behind his sunglasses, but you were sure he was staring right at you.
“(Y/n), You made me a bracelet. You made me a bracelet with things that remind me of you. You made me a bracelet that I don’t have to see to enjoy. You put so much thought into this.” You felt your cheeks flush as he spoke.
Sometimes Matt’s direct observations are funny, but it was less humorous when aimed at you. “It’s nothing, really. It’s not a big-”
“Don’t finish that.” Matt cut you off, taking another step closer. “Don’t say it’s not a big deal. It’s a huge deal. It’s a massive deal to me.”
You nod your head, not sure how to respond. You feel his hand release yours before his fingers slowly graze up your arm, leaving a trail of goosebumps in their wake. They move past your shoulders, and you can’t stop the shiver that runs through you when he brushes up your throat.
His hand finally stops on your cheek. Soon his other hand is on your face as well. You closed your eyes as his fingers danced over your skin, tracing your brow bones, the arc of your nose, and the curve of your lips.
“You’re beautiful.” It was a simple statement. He stated it as fact, something undisputable. You decided to push your luck.
“And how would you know? You feel a lot of beautiful people lately?” He chuckled as his fingers continued to trace along your skin.
“Nah, just the one. Though, I definitely thought they were beautiful long before now.” Now it was your turn to laugh.
“Oh yeah?” Matt stilled his fingers, resting his hands on your cheeks.
“Yeah, when they first came into the office, they were terrified, and rightfully so. But instead of running away, they went headfirst into the flames. Without their help, I would have never caught Fisk. They were so brave and kind. They never treat me any differently because of my blindness, but still keeps it in mind. They’re very witty, calls me out on my shit. I’m very fortunate to have them in my life, in any way they’ll have me.”
You rested your hand on his wrist, the feeling of duct tape and a shoestring brushing your fingers stoked a hopeful flame in your heart. You leaned into his touch, soaking in the words he said. “They sound like a lucky person.”
Matt beamed at you, “No, I’m the lucky one.”
His thumb moved to trace your lips again, and he felt your small gasp against the pad of his finger. “Can I kiss you?”
He felt your head move under his hands as you nodded. He brought his lips to yours, and you thought you might fly away, become one with the stars. He took your top lip first, before coming in again to get your bottom one too. You were trying to avoid cliches, but it was as if he existed to kiss you. His lips fit perfectly with yours. Every time he started to pull back, you would chase him, and he would return each time with just as much passion.
Matt was quite the charmer. It was a well-known fact. You would be lying if you said you didn’t love it.

Sad Girl (Part II)
Read Part I
Pairing: Matt Murdock x F!Reader
Warnings: Angst, not a happy ending.
Author's Note: Sooo, I severely overestimated how much free time I would have, and as it turns out, I have had not a lot and will have none free time for the next three weeks. My irl project is quite literally consuming me on top of the packing for an across the globe trip, so I won't be able to work actively on any writing project at all 🥲 I will be back to writing and posting in late fall/early winter! (hopefully)
P/S: I might write a part 3 to make up for the angst but uhm ... please don't come for me over the ending 🫣

Judging by the sound of people and traffic outside, Matt knew he had slept in. Not that it mattered since it was a Saturday, and he had nowhere to be, especially after a night of going all out on a celebration with Foggy and Karen on the occasion of winning a big case for their client. With the new bonus lined in their pockets, Foggy gave a passionate speech about the grand plan of upgrading the office; Karen daydreamed about a proper heater for the upcoming winter while Matt zoned out, occasionally chiming in with a witty remark. He didn't enjoy his win as much as he should, as a part of him wished he could see you and tell you about it instead. He knew you would be happy for him and listen to every detail, just like you did whenever he told you about his day, when he wasn't in a hurry to leave.
The talking clock announced the time and date, and as Matt shifted back to the bed, a thought struck him. It had been three months since his last illicit affair with you. Matt sighed, pressing his face into the pillow at the thought of you. He had been thinking about you more and more every day. Matt blamed it on his coming to the acceptance that what you and he shared had long dissolved into thin air, becoming something that never was before you met. But the history was still there, at least for him. It didn't get to disappear. It stayed in his head, haunting him like a shadow at the edge of his conscience, waiting for a chance to occupy his thoughts whenever he found his mind strayed, and if he had to admit it, he didn't want to let it go. Matt replayed the last night he spent with you over and over, prying for little details of what had gone wrong, only to come up with none. You were curt with him, and the rebuttal he came up with was you were tired. You even said it yourself. Matt left you alone that night after that, and he even made sure that the two of you were okay. But he guessed it wasn't enough, as you completely shut him out afterward.
From time to time, Matt would stop by your place to check on you, to see if the wind chime returned, only to be disappointed by its absence. He would perch on the rooftop of your building, listening to the sound of your soft laugh alongside your favourite show. Matt was so close, yet so far away from you. He had gotten used to the silence, but he hadn't used to not seeing you, being around you. Even though a small part of him was crestfallen that you didn't seem to miss his presence, it made him happy to see you were still doing well. Even if it was without him.
Turning on his back, with his hand stretched over the empty space beside him, Matt couldn't help but wonder why you cut all contact with him, and why he had been so bothered by the fact. He could take the hint and accept a rejection, but he couldn't understand why your silence hurt him the most of all. Something was missing; Matt could feel it so clearly when he returned to his apartment at night after your arrangement was abruptly over. His place didn't have your scent, your candles, or even the overpowering aroma of the ointment you applied on him when he needed it. He even missed the coarseness of your fine cotton sheets on his too-sensitive skin. Yet, none of these little things could even begin to compare to how often he found himself missing your presence most of all. Your steady heartbeat and the way it quickened when he touched you. Your comforting scent when he buried his nose into your neck. The way your thighs found their home around his waist when he fucked you into the mattress, your bodies moving together in a desperate attempt at getting closer and closer until you were joined in one body made of flesh and bones. It wasn't just the sex that he missed. His heart involuntarily yearned for your laugh, your presence, being around you. He remembered how your apartment smelled like the tea you drink and how it would be cold by the end of his visits. He missed the way you seemed to know what he needed by paying attention to his body language and the way he conveyed his needs without words.
Matt ran a hand over his face and sighed heavily. He needed to take a walk, to allow his mind to be uninhabited by you.
As Matt padded barefoot through the apartment, he was reminded once again of you by the soft floral fragrance in the sweater you left at his place. It was you he smelled, a warm and sheer powdery iris that he could never mistake for someone else, and a mix of his own scent, too. When he first noticed it in his closet, his heart fluttered when he realized what it was. Now, with its new place on the top of a dining chair, the faint floral was a reminder of what you were to him. He wished he could restore it to your scent and your scent only so he could hold onto you a little longer. Matt caught his stray thought and steered himself away from reminiscing. It was dangerously close to the territory he couldn't afford to enter. So he shut it out.
He really needed that walk.
The air was crisp and clear, which made everything around him stand out more. Matt took a moment to take in his surroundings. The neighbourhood felt lively amongst the aroma of coffee, steaming broth, greasy food and freshly baked pastries. The revving of a motorcycle passed by him, making his brows furrow over the loud noise and the waft of smoke it brought. He smelled more food, more body odour, but amidst all that chaos, something familiar arose. The scent reminded him of you. And once again, his thoughts strayed as if he couldn't help himself.
How could he have predicted the way things ended with you? Even if he knew beforehand, he couldn't prevent it from happening. It simply wasn't meant to be. You and him both knew what you were getting into, and it was nothing more than a casual exchange. And if his exclusion from your life was what you wanted, he would respect that. Still, Matt couldn't make sense of his desolation. It confused him, all the thoughts running through his head, all the ache wrapping around his heart like cellophane, circling around the truth buried so deep that he couldn't feel it for what it truly was. It was almost as if his heart already knew, but his mind refused to acknowledge it.
The iris scent got stronger, and Matt directed his attention toward it. His heart seemed to recognize it before his senses caught onto it, beating faster as it came closer, accompanied by the rhythm of a heartbeat he knew so well. It was unmistakenly you, your scent, your voice, as all the tangible signals drifted to him. He was aware that you hadn't seen him yet; his feet involuntarily picked up the pace, closing the distance between you. You were closer to him now, the closest in months. He listened to your voice as you chatted with your companion, unaware of him. And when you finally saw him, Matt could tell as the breath in your throat hitched. He took a deep breath, bracing himself to say hi, a soft smile on his face.
It was only seconds, yet it felt so long as your jacket brushed over his on the busy pavement; the brief contact ended before it even began. You kept walking further away from him as Matt's heart dropped in the realization that you didn't stop to acknowledge him. The familiar ache took hold of his heart and squeezed again. Matt brushed the feeling off by taking his own steps forward and away from you, only with less certainty and excitement. He was still close by when he heard it. The conversation you had with your companion.
"Hey. You okay?"
The woman's voice was full of concern.
"Uh, yeah, I'm … I'm fine."
There was a touch of hesitation in your voice.
"Are you sure? You look like you saw a ghost."
A small chuckle.
"I feel like I did."
A brief pause and a small yet determined exhale later.
"Don't worry. It's nothing."
His heart dropped even further at your words; the pain grabbed and pulled at his heartstrings violently. What you said to your friend manifested a bitter taste on his tongue, making his stomach churn. You pretending not to know him and ignoring him hurt him more than he realized. How could you? How could you act like the ink on the pages of your story had washed away so completely that the history you shared became a blank book? Why did he become nothing to you?
Matt wanted to know the unbridled truth and get the closure he was owed. He deserved that much.
About a week later, Matt waited for you to return home at the front of your building instead of the usual spot at your fire escape. It was late, almost time for him to go back to his apartment so he could start the patrol for the night. But that could wait.
Matt buried his hands into his pockets to shield them from the wind nipping at his skin. Leaning onto the brick pillar at the bottom of the steps, he closed his eyes, trying to calm his heart rate, reminding himself that it was just you, the woman he had known so well. But his logic persisted. Maybe he didn't know you at all. He could barely understand himself these days. Who was he to say that he knew you for who you really were?
His heart picked up its pace again once he heard the sound of your voice neared. You were laughing alongside the familiar voice from last week; the slightest slur in your words was enough for him to know that you were tipsy. The uneven clicks of your heels on the ground became steadier as you made your way toward the entrance and stopped when you approached him.
Matt stood up straight, clearing his throat softly.
"Hi."
"What are you doing here?"
You wasted no time. Your voice was cold, and your demeanour was curt.
"I need to talk to you."
Your companion's voice interrupted him.
"Who are you?"
You pulled at your friend's sleeve, and after a brief pause, she released a small gasp and a soft "Oh". She then turned to him, her voice stern, leaving no room for any other interpretation.
"My friend doesn't have anything to say to you. So you can–"
"Mindy. I got this."
"Are you sure?"
Matt listened as the conversation wrapped up, with Mindy getting into a cab and you promising to call her if you wanted to talk. You closed the door, waiting until the taxi pulled away before returning to him, still keeping your distance.
"What do you want to talk to me about?"
Matt took a small step forward.
"About what happened between us."
"There is nothing to talk about. Nothing happened."
The blankness in your voice made him feel like his skin was pricked with needles. He scoffed, bewildered with disbelief at your outright denial.
"I wouldn't call cutting off all contact, out of the blue, without an explanation, nothing."
When you didn't say anything, he continued.
"Why did you shut me out? It's like our relationship meant nothing to you."
His words seemed to get to you as you snapped back at him.
"There was nothing between us. There was no relationship."
You enunciated your words, making your intention clear.
"I cared for you the same way you cared for me. Isn't that something?"
The harsh puff of air escaped from you was scornful, and Matt knew he was getting somewhere.
"No. You don't know what you're talking about."
"Of course I do. What do you mean by that?"
You stepped closer until you were inches away from him. You were so close that Matt could feel the tension in your body, the way your fists clenched into themselves, the way your heart pounded in your chest.
"You want the truth, Matt? The truth is I didn't want to set myself up for more disappointment, so I did what I thought was best for myself."
His brows scrunched together at the meaning behind your words.
"What kind of disappointment?"
You sighed heavily.
"The kind that came from knowing I could never be more to you. I thought you cared for me, Matt."
Your voice had gone quieter, so small that he felt like it took all of your strength to physically say it. He softened at that, and his hand reached out to find your cheek.
"I did. I still do."
But before the contact happened, you took a step back, avoiding his hand.
"No. You don't care about me like the way I cared for you. I was just your side piece that you could fuck whenever you–"
Matt was so taken aback by your firm conviction that he didn't register the latter part. He didn't care about the way you seemed to shy away from him and grasped your arms, pulling you close.
"You're more than that to me! You're my friend."
His chest heaved in exertion. He didn't know what else he could do to convince you. When you spoke, it was the way your voice shook that broke him.
"That wasn't enough for me, Matt."
Your hands came up to hold onto his arms, your grasp weak, but it gave Matt some hope. You swallowed hard.
"I lov– I liked you, so much that my heart hurts whenever you didn't stop by."
His heart rattled in its cage, wanting to break free at your confession. Your voice was so small, yet your words carried so much weight.
"I thought we could be more, but you confirmed that it wasn't in the cards for you, so … I did the best thing for both of us. I didn't want to waste anymore of your and my time."
Matt loosened his hold, his head dipped as he hoped you were looking at him.
"You knew what it would be like to be with me. I would go out and I might get hurt, and I didn't want to leave you by yourself worrying about me in case something happened."
You tore yourself away from his grasp, your voice raised in what felt like exasperation.
"You don't get it! I already went through those worries when we were still sleeping together. I was always worried about you when you got injured, when you came to my place just a little later than you said you would. I would be worried sick. So don't feed me that bull shit. I knew what I was getting myself into."
Matt fell silent, and for the first time, he lost his defence. So he returned to the start of it all.
"We agreed to be casual."
"Then why did you act like my boyfriend? Cuddling me to sleep? Making sure I was okay after a shitty day at work? I thought it was you showing that you cared about me more than just a fuck-buddy."
Your anger only intensified at his attempt at calmness.
"You're worth caring for. I didn't regret anything I did for you."
You chuckled, the sound bitter to his ears.
"Right. It doesn't matter anyway. You already have someone else waiting for you at home."
Confusion clouded his thoughts.
"What are you talking about?"
You scoffed in disbelief.
"I'm talking about Karen Page."
"What about her?"
"Don't pull that shit with me. I know you're together. I could tell by the way you acted throughout the interview and the photoshoot."
"You got it wrong. We used to date, but not anymore. We're only friends. Please, you have to trust me."
He could hear you moving toward him before feeling a jab of your finger at his chest; your face was closer to his for the first time in months.
"I don't care what the two of you are anymore, okay? It looked like that from my end. Do you know what it feels like knowing that you were made the other woman? I even defended you before my friend, saying that you actually loved me. I was so fucking stupid."
Your last words were dripped in a teary tone. Matt was speechless as you sobbed; the sound made his body throb with pain as if he was dealt with a thousand cuts. He noticed the way your heart thundered in your chest, but it wasn't out of dishonesty. It was out of the hate and love you had for him, both surging at once. Your heart thumped vigorously for him; your body burned with fervour because of him. He was too stubborn to see the signs for what they were: the affection and devotion you saved for him, reflected through the little things you did for him. You didn't have to say it. Your feeling for him was tangible and real, like the feel of your finger prodding at his chest. Real like the tears on your face at the expense of his unintentional ignorance.
Your hand fell to your side. Your anger subsided; now you were depleted, and Matt hated that he was the source of your distress.
"Please, understand where I came from. I didn't want to be a home wrecker. I just couldn't do it anymore."
He nodded. The silence stretched as the two of you let the confession infuse the air between you. Matt had asked for the truth, and he got it. Yet it was so suffocating that he felt like he couldn't breathe. All of your cards were laid on the table, and it was his turn to reveal his.
You sniffled, and your voice sobered up. But Matt could still hear the shakiness in it.
"Anything else you want to tell me?"
The words were at the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't bring himself to say them. He held his cards close, afraid to confront the aftermath. After all, he had so much to lose.
You took his silence for your answer. You trained your voice to be cold again.
"Right. I hope you got what you came here for."
You brushed past him and ascended the steps, leaving Matt where he was: at the front of your door, in the cold autumn wind, alone. Like he always had been.

Unmasking The Truth
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: After hearing your boyfriend, Matt, was in a car accident, you vowed to never leave his side ever again. However, because of this, you discovered a distressing secret he held. Content: Some cursing, slight angst, slight fluff
Tumblr media
Dating Matt Murdock was always at least slightly stressful. Whether it be getting almost killed for digging too deep into things, or simple things like clumsiness due to blindness, you drew the line when his coworker and best friend Foggy told you he got into a car accident. Hearing that on the phone made you panic, and you swore to yourself to never leave your lover alone ever again; for his safety and your sanity. All of these thoughts filled your head as you sped off in your car to his loft. Matt's other coworker, Karen, called your phone while you were in the car. "Karen, I'm a little busy right now.", you said as you answered. "I-I know, but Matt's not answering his phone, a-and neither is Foggy! Is Matt okay?", Karen said, in her usual panicked tone of voice. "I don't bloody know! I'm driving to his place right now!", you responded, equally panicked and exasperated. "O-okay, call me back!". "I will, Karen.".
Minutes passed and eventually, you got to Matt's apartment, almost tripping multiple times as you dashed up the stairs to his loft. "Thank god I have a key.", you thought to yourself when you reached his door. Fumbling for your keys, you rattled the doorknob a bit before unlocking it to let him know you were there. You figured it would work since you always knew he had some strange ability to sense you and other people's presence. "Y/N.", your loopy lover said from the couch. "Matt!", you shrieked upon seeing him lying there. His face was covered in cuts, and he was shirtless. This would usually strike you as pleasing, but the abundance of cuts, bruises, gauze, and cotton pads ruined that. Even the room was messed up, with torn floorboards and broken drywall. "Jesus, Matt, what happened?!", you asked. "Car accident. Didn't Foggy tell you?", Matt said, sarcasm not dying down, even in a situation such as this.
"Matt. A car with fists and some sort of blade? Cuts and bruises like those don't come from cars.". "How would you know? Have you been hit by a car?", Matt asked with a chuckle, groaning in pain soon afterward. "First of all, karma.", you said. " Second of all, no, but I'm not blind! And I can see those are not car crash injuries.". "Well, I can promise you they are.", Matt said, seemingly increasingly frustrated. "Well, it seems like you're breaking that promise!", you said, grabbing at strings to get more from him than simply his "it was a car accident" thing. "Matt, please! Tell me what's happening. You and Foggy have gotten so distant, and you have been too. You've not been answering your phone, and I've been seeing more and more injuries on you, I just…", you said, getting choked up. Your breath hitched as you breathed more in an attempt to calm down, and you could see Matt get sadder, tears brimming in his eyes and his eyebrows furrowing. "…Just please tell me you're okay! I'm scared for you, what, with all this 'Devil Of Hell's Kitchen' bullcrap!".
"Honey, I…", Matt trailed off, turning his head to the window, then back to you. "…Can you stay here for a while? I… want to get some sleep.". You sighed, expecting a more in-depth response, but as you stood there, everything clicked. There was no doubt; he was keeping something from you. However, you simply nodded. "Of course. I'm just… concerned for you. We all are. Foggy, Karen, and I.". "I know. I'll sleep on the couch. You can take the bed.", Matt said with a smile. You nodded and headed to his room, which wasn't as messed up as his living room. It wasn't touched. This only fueled your assumption that he has been up to something. Something dangerous. You sat down on the bed, the cushiony mattress bringing you lots of memories. The thought of cuddling after a long day certainly helped to calm you down.
Your eyes landed on Matt's pillow, and you immediately pulled it towards you, burying your face into it. You could smell his cologne as you did, and if your thoughts of cuddling didn't calm you down, this certainly did. You sighed into the pillow, letting a few tears fall. Trying to fall asleep, you pulled the blankets over your curled-up body.
It took you a long time to fall asleep, and when you finally did, you woke up at the sound of something opening in the living room. Normally, if you were staying at Matt's apartment, you wouldn't care about this. But due to your suspicion that he was hiding something from you, you immediately got up, going out to the living room. You simply thought he might have been changing clothes, grabbing a snack, or simply going to the bathroom.
But, you couldn't have been any less prepared for what you saw before you. The shock and bewilderment of the moment were overwhelming, leaving you feeling completely unprepared to process or comprehend the situation.
There, in front of you, was your lover in the attire of The Devil Of Hell's Kitchen; the Daredevil's costume. You were left speechless, and Matt just sighed, calling your name. It sounded as sweet as any other time, yet it felt tainted with what you had realized. The secret he was keeping from you wasn't anything like he had a drinking problem, or that he was too deep into a case and got hurt, it wasn't anything like that.
The secret was that he was the Daredevil. He was the masked vigilante that everyone was talking about.
You didn't know what to do. You were frozen. Your heart was beating like a hammer, and before you could even say anything, you collapsed on the spot. Matt immediately rushed over to you, catching you in his arms before you could even hit the ground. The last thing you heard before you passed out was Matt calling your name.

A fathers scent
Matt murdock x (platonic) teen reader
Summary: matt wanted nothing more but to get to know you better but didnt know his scent could hurt you so badly
Notes; short read
Warning;
Tumblr media
Matt had taken you in almost a year ago, how could he not, you had the same abilities as him and he knew what it was like to be alone or worse, with Stick, he couldn’t let that happen. Matt did his best. He taught you how to let things in and keep things out, trained you, and most of all, fathered you.
Matt still didn't know your full story regarding your family, he knew your mom had passed tragically and that your dad was gone but he didn't know the details. He only ever brought it up once and when you declined to answer becoming upset he didn't pry. Matt trusted one day you’d feel comfortable enough to tell him yourself and if not that was alright.
Matt returned home after a long day at Nelson and Murdock, he had scoured the city trying to get information to help his new clients. “Mm that smells good” he announced walking through the door, placing down his stick. “Is that stake im smelling?” he asked cocking his head. “Matt!” You shouted enthusiastically walking into his embrace. Something went wrong though.
You inhaled his scent before sharply pushing yourself back from him. Matt could hear the sudden acceleration of your heart rate, and feel the sweat collecting on your face. “Y/n” what's wrong,” he asked holding his arm out “Where have you been!?” You asked holding your nose, trying to drain out the stench. “All over town. why? What's wrong-“You cut him off again. “Who have you been talking to!?” You shouted louder than before. “A lot of people, what going on?” He asked stepping towards you, but you darted towards the bathroom.
A few seconds passed before he heard the sounds of you puking your guts out, he walked toward the door cracking it open. Your heart rate had slowed but you shivered from the cold sweat coating your body. “Y/n..” he whispered. “Please leave me alone” you begged weakly, Matt was terrified but not wanting to make the situation worse he obliged. He sat at the table, listening to the clock tick and an hour later you emerged from the bathroom dashing into your room.
Matt went through the rest of his night routine alone, not leaving the house in case you decided to appear, but you never did. Matt couldn’t go to bed not knowing if you were ok. After his shower, he threw on his jacket and sweatpants and walked to your room. “May i come in?” He asked with a light knock. no reply followed, he let himself in and made his way to the edge of your bed where he sat. your body curled up on the opposite side.
“Y/n…are you alright?” He asked softly “i don't want to talk about it” your raspy voice replied. “Y/n I'm sorry if i did something to hurt you” he stated more worry in his voice. “You didn't-“ you paused before exhaling deeply “you smelled like my dad” you stated. Matt didn’t know how to reply but you continued “The half-drunken, concrete, musty smell. You were around him i could tell” you explained with a shake at the end of your sentence. “Y/n, i had no idea, im sorry” he apologized. “He's around, he’s back, he was near you!” you bit your lip. Matt climbed into the bed and turned you towards him. “Hey, you are safe here. He will never come near you” he explained in a stern tone.
your eyes watered and he wasted no time pulling you into his chest. Your hands went around his back as he engulfed you and you were finally able to inhale Matt's scents, the one you loved so much.“You’re my real dad, Matt” “your my daughter, nothing will ever change that”

Blind Faith
Chapter 4: My Accomplice
Pairing: Matt Murdock x Reader
Chapter Summary: The Devil of Hell's Kitchen makes you his accomplice. He doesn't like when you joke about danger.
A/N: No warnings for this chapter, unless you count Matt Murdock getting mad a warning.
Again, the POV shifts towards the end. You know it's Matt's POV if he describes his senses and his name is used. If it's Mike, it's the Reader's POV.
Enjoy! <3
Chapter 3 here
Tumblr media
Hell’s Kitchen
11:00 PM
The next few nights after your private self-defense class with Mike felt like you were in an endless fever dream.
Like routine, you met him up on the roof. Whether it was before you went out, or before he did, you made the time. You didn’t know what you were getting yourself into, but you liked the thrill of it all. The secret meetings, the whispers in each other’s ears, promises of seeing each other you didn’t even know were going to be fulfilled… until the next night when they were. He showed up like clockwork.
Last Night
“And here I was thinkin’ you just love ‘em and leave ‘em,” you whispered against his lips. Mike interrupted you and chased your lips with a kiss. He held onto your waist firmly and held you in place.
“I don’t love and I don’t leave,” Mike had said in a breathless whisper. He pulled you tighter against him when he spoke. “I do what I want.”
You laughed against his chest. “I know that. You act outside of the law every night. If I had that attitude, I’d do what I want, too.”
“Why do you always bring that up?” Mike smirked. You wiped it off with another kiss.
“What were you thinking, getting involved with a future lawyer?”
He chuckled and kissed you again. He spun you around.
“Technically,” he began, “you know about my illegal activities and haven’t reported me. That makes you my accomplice,” Mike said in a low voice, directly in your ear. You shivered. You didn’t know it was possible, but he held you even tighter.
“Well, fuck,” you said with a smile, “I guess it does, doesn’t it?”
Suddenly, Mike paused. You noticed he did that sometimes, followed by a statement of fact. His attention turned somewhere to the left of you.
“Your friends are looking for you,” he said, “it’s time to go.”
“How do you know? They’re probably drunk already,” you kissed him again. His lips remained on yours, and then he pulled back slowly.
“They are,” he confirmed. “Join them, but don’t drink too much.”
“No promises,” you chuckled.
“Please be safe,” Mike said as he pulled back. You hated how cold you felt whenever he let go of you.
“I will,” you promised, “though why should I be careful when I know you’re out there?”
“Don’t think like that,” he demanded, tightening his mask. You shook your head in amusement before you watched as he climbed over the roof, and into the night.
Present Time
11:30 PM
With Mike in your life now, you couldn’t concentrate on anything.
He was still on your mind even in a loud, dingy bar, like you were now. You were infatuated, for sure. Not everyone could say they were having an affair with a masked vigilante, and absolutely no one could parade that fact aloud. But you liked keeping it a secret. It made it all the more special.
You just wished you could have him here with you, now. But that would never happen. You didn’t even know what he looked like, let alone his real name. Who knew who the real man was behind the mask? Did you even want to know who he was? He certainly knew who you were. He knew your face. You knew he was older than you.
And yet, with all these thoughts floating in your mind and with three vodka-Diet Coke’s in your system, you still danced on the dance floor like nothing was occupying your mind. Emily grabbed your arms to dance with her and you raised your cup in the air, shouting.
“That guy over there is checking you out,” she yelled in your ear. You really couldn’t be less interested, but you looked over to appease her anyway.
There was someone looking at you for sure. He was tall, very handsome with a boyish look. Like boy-next-door vibes, with his light blonde hair and white tee shirt on. Blue jeans. Completely the opposite of your newly discovered type of man-in-black-mask-vigilante-who-won’t-reveal-his-name. You were fully committed to the latter, even though you knew there was no established relationship. Which truthfully, made your heart feel the tiniest heavier.
“Go talk to him,” Emily encouraged.
“I don’t know—“
And before you knew it, you were being pushed through the crowd. It felt wrong to go over to talk to him. You felt guilty.
You stumbled into him, and Emily scurried off. I’ll get her for this.
You stumbled into him so badly, you got a huge whiff of his overpriced cologne. It clogged your nose as you coughed. You drank more of your vodka-Diet Coke to suppress the coughing. He laughed, and without asking placed his hand on your back.
“You okay?” He asked with a chuckle.
You nodded awkwardly, raising your cup again—why do I always do this when I’m drunk?! You placed your cup down and held it with your hands, swishing it around.
“Yeah,” you said, “perfectly A-OK.”
“You wanna dance?”
“Not really,” you answered a little too fast.
He flinched, but then he made a face like he knew what you meant.
“Ohh,” he said, realizing something you were unaware of. “You wanna go outside?”
“Hell no,” you frowned. “I gotta go.”
“But—“
Before he could finish, you ran off to find your friends. You laughed through the crowd and spotted Bella talking to a guy.
“Hey!” She said, “This is Andre.” She gestured to the guy who stood next to her. He had tan skin, and black hair, with a strong jawline. He definitely was easy on the eyes, and definitely right up Bella’s alley.
“Nice to meet you,” he said, holding out his hand. You shook it and introduced yourself.
You weren’t very trusting of any of the guys your friends introduced you to at first, but once you got a feel for their character, you let them in graciously. Andre, throughout the night, proved himself to be a good guy and someone who is good for Bella.
Emily and Hannah found you by the bar, ordering your last vodka-Diet Coke of the night. Emily nudged your elbow and fixed your hair. You smiled at your friends, knowing that your night out was soon coming to an end.
“How’d it go with that guy? Did he ask for your number?” She asked. Hannah also listened intently.
“No,” you shrugged. “I didn’t want it anyway.”
Emily looked a little surprised, “Really? I thought you’d be into him.”
“You thought wrong,” you laughed. It was her turn to shrug.
“Just trying to help,” she said. “We’re ready to go. Our Uber’s almost here.”
Walking outside the bar, you knew there was no way you were getting inside that Uber. For some reason, you felt something in your heart, telling you to stay. It was like you had vigilante senses—you’d bet Mike was here somewhere. You just had a feeling, you couldn’t explain it. Or the alcohol was making you feel dramatic about everything.
All your friends piled in the car, except you.
“What are you doing? Oh God, do you need to throw up?” Emily asked with worry. You shook your head.
“No, I think I’m going to stay,” you told her.
She looked confused, and then she realized something.
“That guy,” she said knowingly, “blonde with blue jeans. I knew he was your type!”
You shrugged. That’ll work. “Yeah, don’t worry about me.”
“Text us if you need us,” Bella shouted. Andre placed a hand on her knee from the passenger seat to quiet her down. Hannah was already knocked out.
“I will,” you answered. You shut the Uber car door and spun around. The music from the club was muffled and people began to shuffle out. You saw the guy Emily tried to set you up with again, but you moved past him quickly. Sorry dude, but you are not who I am looking for.
Taking a wild guess, you turned into the first alley you saw.
And there he was, in all his glory.
~~~
“How the hell did I know you’d be here, somewhere?” You exclaimed loudly, a bit too loudly. Matt tensed as he waited for you to approach him. He heard you drop off your friends at your Uber, and he heard your conversation with them. Behind his mask, he squinted his eyes. He tilted his head, taking you in.
Vodka-Diet Coke, one too many. He took a deep breath and closed his eyes. She’s wearing a mini skirt…and sandals. And a revealing top. Her hair is down. Her fragrance…cologne—overpriced. Did a man touch you?
“And what if I weren’t here?” Matt asked with no humor in his voice. You came to an awkward stop in front of him, crossing your arms.
“I would’ve walked home alone and expected you to find me anyway,” You slurred, though you were trying not to sound drunk. It wasn’t working.
“You can’t expect that I’ll always be there all the time,” Matt argued. “You need to be able to keep yourself safe when I’m not around.”
“And when you are around?”
“You’re safe with me,” he said simply.
“And that’s exactly why I wait for you,” you answered. The smell of the cologne was overpowering to Matt’s senses—he couldn’t stand the smell of someone else on you.
“Who’s cologne is that?” Matt asked.
You shrugged. “Some random guy Emily tried to set me up with. He wasn’t my type.” You laughed. “I’ve got someone else on my mind.”
Ignoring the last part, Matt pried more.
“Did—did he touch you?” The scent was so strong and terrible it was like you were doused in it. You shook your head.
“I drunkenly stumbled into him and he uninvitingly placed his hand on my back,” you said, then asked, “are you—first of all, I am way too drunk to know how you know there’s cologne on me, and second, are you jealous?” You asked suspiciously, and Matt didn’t need to be able to see to know you were smiling when you asked your last question.
Perhaps he was.
“What if I was?” Matt asked.
You laughed, but it wasn’t lighthearted. There was something else in your voice, almost like resentment. “What, you would’ve walked right into the bar and stopped him from talking to me?”
“No—“
“No,” you cut him off. “Because then I’d know who you are. And you have no right to be jealous.”
Matt was silent. You were argumentative in nature, and he liked that, but tonight, it felt more personal. He was already starting to hurt you. He didn’t like that.
“I’ll leave you alone from now on,” Matt stated. He turned on his heel and began to walk away, but he felt you take his hand.
“I’d walk myself into danger to get you to come and find me if you leave right now,” you said tauntingly. Matt turned around so fast, he knew it startled you. He took your wrist and held it tightly.
“Don’t. Don’t joke like that,” his voice was low, guttural even. The thought of you in danger made him furious. The thought of you purposefully putting yourself in danger was downright seething.
“I’d walk into the depths of this city alone and in nothing but a sundress and wait for you to come to find me,” you sneered in a drunken whisper.
“Stop,” Matt’s jaw clenched as he spoke, “Stop it.” He held onto your wrist tighter. You yanked it out of his grasp. He taught you how to do that.
“Why haven’t you left yet anyway? Why are you so triggered now, all of a sudden?” You argued more. Matt shook his head before he answered. It’s what I’ve been asking myself all week.
“Because I can’t get enough,” He said in a low growl as he took your chin in his hands and kissed you so hard, you had to hold on to his shirt. You held his black shirt in between your knuckles, pulling him desperately closer to you. Matt held onto your waist like he always does and moved you against the wall of the alley.
He kissed you more, in the alley, knowing no one was around. It was just you and him in the alley, kissing desperately and holding onto each other. He pinned your hands above your head but held your wrists firm.
“Touch me,” you demanded as you pulled back, gasping for air. You spread your legs so he stood between them.
“No,” he whispered and shook his head. “Not when you’re intoxicated.”
“Oh, so you’ll easily break the law every night, but when it comes to a girl allowing you to touch her, that's where you draw the line?” You laughed. He shushed you with another kiss.
“You’re not just any girl to me,” Matt’s voice softened.
“You say that to all the girls you save,” you joked. He shook his head again, holding that same serious demeanor.
“You’re the only one,” he told you truthfully. “There’s only you.”
“Your accomplice?” You asked with a smile.
He couldn’t help but smile in return.
“My accomplice.” He kissed you again.
Hell’s Kitchen
1:00 AM
Mike walked you home. And now, you laid in bed, about to dream of him all over again.
The way he told you that you were the only girl in his life… no amount of water could’ve sobered you up quicker, and no amount of lecturing could make you take the situation more seriously, the way he spoke to you just an hour ago. And there was still the lingering question in your mind of, well then, who are you?
You had bit your lip. You didn’t ask him.
Another night, you told yourself.
Tonight, you wrapped yourself in your sheets, wishing it was him instead.
A Hell's Kitchen Christmas [Hallmark Trope]
Pairing: Matt Murdock x Reader
Trope de Sept Masterlist | Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
Hallmark Special tv movie trope 1. Busy career woman in big city reluctantly returns to hometown for problem™. Handsome man in town who she initially clashes with wins her over and they fall in love. She stays in hometown. It is also Christmas. "You return to Hell's Kitchen to help your estranged dad in a legal battle over his hardware store. You’re a hot-shot Miami lawyer after all, how hard could it be? Except the charming, handsome local lawyer named Matt Murdock your dad hired to help him keeps getting in your way. And yes, it is Christmas. Because this is a Hallmark Movie."
Warnings: No use of Y/N. No pronouns are used for reader, so any gender applies! Catholic/Religious mass mentioned/attended by reader, reader’s mom is dead, Christmas, Fluff on top of fluff.
The footsteps of parishioners thumped softly against the carpeted aisle of Clinton Church, nearly drowned out by the blaring of the organ as it played them out while they all exited. Christmas Eve Midnight Mass had just ended. Typically always over-crowded with those Sister Maggie called “Christers” (those who only attend church on Christmas and Easter), the many people walked past where Matt sat in a pew towards the back, chatting about what excitement tomorrow brought them (technically today, as it was nearly 1AM on Christmas Morning).
Matt remained in his seat, listening to the crowd depart, until there was just one other person in the chapel with him.
He noticed you as soon as he sat down before the service. Despite the many unfamiliar heartbeats in the crowd tonight, he picked yours out right away. Your citrus-scented perfume confirmed your presence when its pleasant smell reached him.
You were alone, which Matt found odd. Not joined by your father for the holiday celebrations as he expected you to be.
He heard you finally stand from your spot and walk up to the altar just as the last of the crowd left. The lighter trembled in between your fingers as you picked up a tea light and lit it, placing it amongst the many flaming symbols of other people's prayers.
“Shit God, I know I don’t pray a lot… or at all really.”
Matt listened as you spoke, chuckling to himself. You clearly hadn’t noticed him there.
“Look, it’s just my dad… the hardware store has been his whole life since mom died and please, you just can’t take that away from him. I know me leaving didn’t help, I know. I’m still living with that guilt, believe me.” you continued to pray, sniffling and wiping away a tear from your eye
“But this pro-bono guy he’s got. I don’t think it’s gonna be enough. I guess what I’m asking is please just let him open his heart enough for me to help. Or at least for this Murdock schmuck to get it together enough and actually save my dad’s store. You know, like a nice Christmas miracle? Um… thanks God.”
You crossed yourself and bowed to the altar, turning to leave.
Matt could tell you spotted him from the gasp that left your mouth and the way your heart skipped a beat.
“Matt. Hey. Um… Merry Christmas.” you said, still trying not to cry as you walked over to him
“Hey. Merry Christmas to you too. Where’s your dad?”
“Oh, he had a long day today. You know him, he never stops working. I told him to stay home and rest. Can I walk you home?”
“Oh you don’t have to…”
“Come on Matt, it’s late and it’s Christmas. It’s only a few blocks anyway. Let me walk you home.”
Matt nodded and took your arm as you led him out of the church and into the cold New York night. The snowflakes danced around as the two of you walked, arm in arm. Crunching footsteps made a path through the white-covered sidewalk and left evidence of the route to Matt’s apartment you took.
“Did you not bring a warmer coat? I can hear you shivering.” Matt exclaimed
“I didn’t. I never come home for Christmas, but with everything going on with my dad, I booked the trip so last minute and a winter coat isn’t exactly something I need in Miami.” you replied, tugging at the sleeves of your thin jacket
“May I?” Matt offered, releasing your arm for a moment to shrug off his wool pea coat.
Gloved hands ghosted your neck as he situated the garment around your shoulders. It was snuggly and warm and reminded you of Matt in a way you couldn’t quite put your finger on.
“Thank you Matt. Not just for the coat, but for everything. You’re really helping my dad out.” you said, letting him take your arm once more and resuming your journey
“Oh yeah? You sure I’m not just some schmuck he hired?”
“Shit. You heard that? I didn’t mean it.” you shook your head and Matt just chuckled
“You really are a good lawyer.” you continued “Everything you’ve proposed we try and all the research you’ve done… I know I’ve been really hard on you since I got here and I’m sorry. I’m a big deal at my firm in Miami and I’ve worked really hard to get to where I am. And my dad is about to get evicted and he doesn’t even call his own kid to help? I know I’m in corporate finance law and I’m not licensed in New York but still… He didn’t tell me this was happening for months and he hired you and I was hurt.”
“So why’d you come back to New York then? If you think I’m a good enough lawyer to help your dad out that is?” Matt asked
“I didn’t think that at first. Didn’t think a small pro-bono firm could take on the big developer trying to tear down the whole block. But now that I’ve been working with you on this, well I was wrong. And maybe I came back too because I missed him and I missed home.”
“Yeah?”
The streets of Hell’s Kitchen were practically empty at this hour, families all tucked away in their homes waiting for the excitement of Christmas morning. It was tranquil, seeing the city that never sleeps so quiet and calm. The electric buzz that New York always seems to have was still there, but dimmed.
“After my mom died, we just grew apart. He threw himself into work and I threw myself into school and my career. I think he was bitter that I moved away, that I didn’t want to take over the store from him.”
“Well you shouldn’t feel bad about going on your own path.” Matt reassured
“Yeah but it was the way I did it. But now that I’ve been back, god it’s like we used to be. Close you know?”
“Yeah I was really close with my dad too. And I’d give anything to have him back. To have what you and your dad have.”
“Shit you’re right. I guess that really puts it in perspective.” you replied
The purple and gold light of the video billboard on Matt’s block reflected off the snowflakes like a disco ball. A festive touch considering what day it was. You stopped your journey just outside his front door, facing him to observe the way he licked his lips as he formulated his next thought.
“I think he just wants what’s best for you.”
“I know that. It’s a shame it took me this long to figure out what’s actually best for me.” you replied
“Oh yeah? You figured that out just in the 10 days you’ve been home? Wow counselor, research and evidence gathering stage usually takes longer.”
“Very funny Murdock. Yeah actually, I have.” you replied
 “And what did you figure out?”
“Matt, the work that you do, seeing it in action and how it’s helped my dad, it really inspired me.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah. I think I want to shift my legal specialty. Find a firm to work for that takes on clients like yours and actually helps people. And Matt, I don’t know that I would have discovered that if it weren’t for you.”
A wide smile spread across Matt’s face as he lowered and shook his head.
“Well, I might know of just the firm that could use a lawyer as smart as you. You’d have to stay in Hell’s Kitchen though, or at the very least New York…”
“Matt, are you offering me a job?” you asked
“Well I mean you’d have to pass the bar in New York first, but yeah, actually I am.”
“What are you doing tomorrow– or today I guess technically?” you asked
“For Christmas? I don’t really have plans. I used to go to dinner at Foggy’s family, but his parents became snowbirds a few years ago, so now all the Nelsons travel to Florida for the holidays. Why?”
“My dad is cooking a fabulous meal and we’d love to have you join us. To thank you for all you’ve done. For both of us.”
“I don’t want to impose on your first Christmas in years with your dad.” Matt replied
“Oh c’mon Matt, you have to come! You’re practically family at this point; you’re saving my dad’s business, you’re repairing our relationship, you’re offering me a job.”
“Okay, okay. I will come.” he conceded
“Great! We can tell my dad I’m moving back to New York. Together.”
“Does that mean you’re saying yes? To my offer?”
“Yes Matt, I am saying yes. To working for you. And staying in New York.”
Reaching out with a trembling hand in the cold night air, you ran your thumb along his jaw. Matt let out a chuckle as you reveled in the way his stubble felt against your freezing fingers. A sigh escaped you into his plush, soft lips when he finally kissed you, warming you instantly from the chill.
“Merry Christmas, Matt.”
“Merry Christmas, Sweetheart.”
How are you? I hope well.
I saw that your request box is open so I thought why not send one in
Hear me out, what reader goes to the office to see Matt and he's all alone in the office, so they fuck around but Matt isn't paying attention to sense and he doesn't hear foggy just down the hallway and Matt pull out of reader right when they were about to cum and he makes her go under his desk while he tries to look decent.
So when foggy goes to Matt's office, reader pulls out his cock and starts to suck him off while he's talking to foggy and he's trying not to make a face or sound of pleasure, so after foggy leaves Matt punishes reader
With every harsh thrust of his cock into your tight walls, the desk underneath you creaks. You can see the legs shaking alongside yours through hazy eyes, but you’re too far gone to care whether or not the wood will give out.
The second you came into the office, Matt had you bent over the desk. First, he ate your sweet cunt as if it were the last lunch he would ever have, and then he forced you onto your stomach and started pounding into you. The position repeatedly allows him to brush against your G-spot and reach your cervix, fucking into you at a pace that has you seeing starts, your moans bouncing off the walls, and you lose yourself in the feeling of him, his hands, and his cock. You love lunch times like this. He never leaves you dissatisfied.
Heat wraps around him like a cocoon. Nothing exists in the Nelson & Murdock office but you and him. Your cunt wraps around his cock so impossibly tight, Matt drowns in the feeling. Your moans overtone the noise of the city and he can only smell your sweet arousal in the air, your sweat and your tears of pleasure, and your juices still glistening on his lips. He revels in it. Once he has his hands on you, you’re more than willing to let him do whatever he wants, whatever he needs, and he does so. But he knows well that you wouldn’t hesitate to do the same for him.
Today though, it’s his turn to ruin you, and the empty office made it impossible for him to keep his hands to himself when you came strolling in with that short skirt he fucked you in the day before; it smells like you, and him and sex, and you walk around shamelessly with it as if he can’t smell you five blocks down, or smell the wetness between your legs when you only think about him. You drive him wild with carnal desire, and he wants nothing more than to die between your legs, perhaps even with his cock buried in your velvety walls. He wants nothing more than to fill you up, fuck you until you can’t walk straight, mark you, make you his, tie you down, and ravish you until not a single thought crosses your mind – you’re his little cockdruck slut and he makes sure to tell you that over and over and over again.
You’re a whimpering mess, reaching back to dig your nails into his hips. You’re so wet, so tight; skin slaps against skin, your nipples brush the wood of the table and you cry out again, and his breathing echoes in his ears. His senses are completely attuned to you, focused on your body, for the signs you’re giving him, the sound of your approaching orgasm, your cunt, your tits, your heartbeat, your everything. He feels your pulse jump under his fingers when he hauls you up to choke you, and you moan again. God, he thinks, this would be such a heavenly way to go out.
He doesn’t focus for only a moment, but a moment is all it takes for the bubble to burst. Matt hears Foggy’s footsteps first, then his heartbeat, then his voice, and he has never pulled out of you faster.
The world crashes back into you when your orgasm vanishes, slipping out of your reach, and you gawk at him.
“Matt, what–” you begin, but he presses his hand against your mouth.
He’s still hard, your wetness leaking from his cock, but his unfocused eyes seem panicked. “Get under the desk, now!” he says.
It’s not a game, you can tell.
“What?”
“Foggy.”
“Oh.”
You should have figured that getting carried away during lunch break would be a bad idea.
Matt barely manages to sit down in his chair and fix his hair before his door busts open.
“Matt,” Foggy waltzes in without a care in the world, “you won’t believe what Marci just told me!"
Your knees already hurt, but you can’t switch positions or he might hear you. You come face to face with Matt’s straining erection in his pants, and an idea comes to your mind.
You’re a naughty little thing, his voice echoes in your head, but he promised he would make sure you could both get what you both wanted without getting caught and he failed. You’re desperate, your cunt aching for him, and you need to get off somehow.
Matt sighs at Foggy’s comment. His cheeks are still flushed and he can’t think straight, but he has to appear professional to keep his dignity and yours. “You know what I think about you using your ex as a mo-oh!” His fist hits the desk’s surface.
Your mouth wraps around his cock and you suck, hard. He comes almost right then and there. He didn’t hear you come closer, neither could he anticipate your behavior before it happened and now you’re sucking on his tip, knowing he is beyond sensitive, and Foggy is right there–
“I know,” Foggy says, and he seemingly doesn’t notice the new tension in his friend’s jaw or his hand gripping the edge of his desk. “But you said we needed more information, and you also hate when I bribe Brett– you know, you’re a hypocrite. You beat up bad guys for intel, but when I ask my ex to spy for me in exchange for sex that doesn't harm anyone, may I add, it’s suddenly World War Three. That's not fair! At least I care about... about the environment."
He says some more things, and they probably make sense, but Matt’s cock twitches in your mouth, so dangerously close to combusting, he listens with only half a quarter of an ear.
You take him down your throat fully, ignoring the urge to gag at his size. He tastes salty and slightly like you, his tip leaking pre-cum. He weighs heavy on your tongue, but the obscenity of it all makes you greedy to take him whole. Once you start, you can’t stop. You lick and suck and lick and suck, and he twitches again.
His knuckles turn white around the wood and he casts a glare downward. You’re too lost in the pleasure his reaction is giving you, your hand working on your clit as you shamelessly suck his dick; you’re getting off on it, and it’s worse now that he can taste the molecules in the air.
You’re going to regret this, but you don’t care because it feels too good to stop now. You just want to be naughty for once, get what you want and bring Matt Murdock to his knees.
“Matt?” Foggy snaps his fingers in front of his face.
He doesn’t notice he’s biting his fist until it starts hurting.
“What?” he asks, his voice strained. He twitches in his chair, but he has nowhere to go.
He’s about to come, the sound of your fingers working on your clit following the rushing of the blood in his veins, and that’s enough to cause his balls to tense up under your skilled fingers.
“I said I was gonna check in with Marci,” says Foggy. “Usually, you have something smart to say to me. I’m waiting.”
“Good idea,” Matt says.
“What?”
“Go.”
“Seriously?”
“Go!” It sounds almost like a warning. "Do the- the thing with Marci. Just do it, I don't care. Go do it!"
What his friend says next, he doesn’t register. He only hears the door fall shut, and then he’s coming hard into your hot mouth. You moan as your own orgasm washes over you, which only makes you suck harder, and his forehead falls to the desk as he muffles his howl. His toes curl. You lit the match, threw it on the gasoline, and now he’s burning.
You suckle on his tip until he’s overstimulated and only then do you pull off.
Part of you expects gratitude when you slowly crawl out from under the desk, but once Matt has found back to himself, his face darkens completely. This is not the man you started teasing before Foggy came around, not the gentle nature your boyfriend has reserved only for you – you’re looking into the eyes of a man equally as horny as he is pissed off with you, and you know what that look means.
“What the fuck were you thinking?” he growls.
Oh-oh.
He gets up and towers over you. “Touching yourself like that, sucking my dick like the needy little whore that you are with Foggy in the same room while I was talking to him… How desperate for my cock do you have to be that you have to act like such a slut?”
You wipe your mouth. “Sorry,” you mutter.
He listens to your heartbeat. “No,” Matt chuckles darkly, “You’re a lot of things, sweetheart, but you’re not sorry.”
Next thing you know, your face is pressed against the wall and he cages you in like an animal on the prowl. The blinds are closed, Foggy is gone again, and your skirt lands on the floor. “Such a needy pussy,” he purrs into your ear. “You’re dripping.”
“Fuck, yes,” you moan.
He pulls at your hair. “Don’t even think you’re getting rewarded.”
The slight pain makes you hiss.
“I’m gonna fuck you as hard as I want now, and you’re gonna take it. You know why?”
“I–”
“Tell me.”
“I’ve been a bad girl.”
“That’s right. And what happens to bad girls, baby?”
“They get punished.”
“Exactly, so that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m gonna fuck you until your pussy is full of my cum and then I’ll decide if you deserve to come or not. Are we clear?”
His words shoot straight to your core. You’re not scared, you know how he is, you have a safeword and yet, you’re enjoying this a lot more than you should. “Yes, sir,” you breathe.
When he hears the honorific from your mouth, uttered oh so sweetly close to his ears, he pushes you further into the walls and thrust his cock into you. He doesn’t wait, he sets a ruthless pace from the beginning, and it’s harder than he fucked you before.
Desire drives him to ruin you. Sweat drips off both of your bodies, mingling and turning into an almost toxic mixture. His white shirt is stained wet now, his tie loosened, and when you look over your shoulder to see his slack jaw and his bared teeth, you tighten around his cock. He looks so good, he renders you speechless, useless, everything.
His fingers are sure to leave their bruises, just how you like it. His teeth nip at your neck. His grip tightens around your throat, knocking the air out of your lungs – you can’t breathe. He knows exactly where to press to turn you light-headed, yet needy for more. Your moans get caught in your throat, your nails claw at the wallpaper, and he only picks up speed.
The line between pain and pleasure blurs. You find yourself on the edge in minutes, even without his fingers on your clit. You are so worked up, your body follows him where he wants you to go.
He lowers his mouth to your ear. “Don’t fucking come,” he warns.
You shiver. You’re right there, but you know you have to comply. It hurts, but it’s so good.
His cock twitches, he’s close too, and he wraps his arm around your waist entirely to keep you straight as he fucks up into you and pushed you flat against the wall. You’re his toy to use now, and you let him. The angle drives you to hell and back, his cock brushing where you need him most but you don’t want him there because you are almost there, tethering over the edge and you are sure if he keeps going like that you are going to–
With a loud shout of your name, he comes deep inside of you. You swear you can still taste him on your tongue as he fills you up. He thrusts and thrusts and thrusts until you’re full of his cum, your walls milking everything he has to give and more, but the man knows no mercy.
“Want me to fuck a baby into you?” he pants. “Is that what you want? So desperate for my cum, you need it everywhere, even your mouth? And now you want me to fuck a baby into your pussy?”
Holy shit. Whatever has gotten into him makes you sweat even more when you hear his words.
“Yes!” you cry. “God, yes, Matthew! Please! Please! Please–”
“You need my cum? You need me to fuck you until you’re full of it?”
“Yes.”
“Say it.”
“I need your cum, Matthew! Please, I need it. I want it. I want you– please!”
His palm collides with your ass cheeks and he hisses like a snake on the prowl. “Come for me,” he says.
You instantly lock up. Your muscles tense and you come with a scream; he doesn’t muffle it, he lets you let it out, and his grip is stern as he continues fucking his cum into your quivering pussy. You mewl, but he doesn’t let off. His fingers are everywhere. It burns.
Only when he’s spent and satisfied does he stop, and you almost lose control over your legs.
“Shh,” you hear him whisper into your ear. Gone is the dominant Matt who was about to ready to destroy you. He flicks the switch and he’s fully himself again.
Stroking your hair, he makes sure to be careful when he pulls out. You whimper. He takes you into his arms. “I’m sorry,” Matt says, “Are you okay?”
You’re both panting, sweaty messes, but God, did it feel good.
You can only muster a small nod and he holds you tighter in response. “Breathe,” he reminds you. “I’m here.”
With his fingers in your hair, you slowly find back to yourself. He carries you into his chair with him where he holds you some more, making sure you don’t lose yourself along the way. He offers you water, a tissue, everything, and you don’t feel used, you never could, not when he acts like this whenever he is rough with you.
There is a reason you love him, and it’s not just mind-blowing sex.
“Sorry for sucking your cock while Foggy was in the room,” you murmur, your voice sounded like a drunken slur.
Matt chuckles, which quickly turns into a laugh. “You are so naughty sometimes, you know that?” he says.
You shrug. “Guilty as charged, counselor.”
His lips find your forehead. “My naughty girl.”
“Yours.”
“Mine.”
You love Matt Murdock and you wouldn’t trade him for the world. You are gladly his because you know, no matter how dominant he is, he will always have a soft spot for you.
Stained Red - Chapter 8
Time
WARNING: SMUT AHEAD
Tumblr media
The Vigilante
Matt has a love/hate relationship with his heightened senses. In his office, he can hear every drop, every scratch, and every step.
He heard you texting, all day. The only thing he knew was that it wasn't him.
He would occasionally hear a giggle or two escape your lips.
That enraged him.
He wasn't the one making you smile, he wasn't the one you were talking to all day.
Matt knew you threw the note in the garbage. To be expected, but there was a sliver of hope that you would go into his office, engulf his nostrils with your sweet scent, and forgive him.
He should know better than to think it would be that easy to earn your forgiveness.
Matt has dealt with his fair share of situationships, but a real relationship? Never. He could get over girls faster than they could get under him. Sex was sex. But you, you're different. Every taste he got of you made him want you more. He didn't want to fuck you and leave. He also didn't want anyone else touching you, ever.
His hand formed into a fist as he heard your fingers tapping away at your screen. Matt needs to figure out how to tell you about his vigilante activities, and fast.
Princesa
The day goes by faster than usual, but your mind was still preoccupied with thoughts of a specific Murdock.
One thing for certain is that you do not give in easily, let alone give in first. Matthew could write a note every day to you for 20 years, each would end up with the same fate. Being stuffed in the trash.
Your long coat glided along the steps as you exited the office, a familiar voice filling your ears.
"Night, Fog." Matt's voice felt like silk to your skin. You stopped in your tracks at the top of the stairs - as if he couldn't sense that you were there already. "I know you're there. I'm not gonna do anything." Matt took out his cane, pushing the door open.
"What if I want you to?" Matt can sense the faux innocence in your voice. His mouth curves into a smirk before he heads out the door.
You were being manipulative and toxic at this moment, but your core was begging for Matt. So, we'll blame it on that.
His voice alone made your toes curl and your cunt throb with need. You've been wanting to have sex with Matt for awhile, and being mad at him for whatever reason was making you want him more.
"Matthew." You follow him out the door, jogging to where he was on the sidewalk.
Matt pulled you in by your coat, pressing his lips to your ear. "Don't tempt me." He gently nibbled on your ear before pulling away, leaving you speechless.
A few hours later
You've retired your work clothes for the day and opted for a low cut tank top, sweat shorts that barely covered your ass, and a slouchy cardigan on top.
As you sipped your 3rd iced latte of the day, you thought about Matt. For the billionth time.
Were you willing to push away his secrets to have him in your life still?
Maybe.
You: Matthew. Come over.
Seen.
You: Please don't make me look more pathetic than I already feel.
Matthew: Beg.
Where was the sweet Matthew that you knew?
You: Come over and I'll beg all night.
Seen.
A half hour passed, so you decide to go into your room for the remainder of the night. Your core was aching for attention and you were gonna give it to her with or without Matt.
Bzzzzz.
You hear your door buzz, knowing it could only be one person. You buzzed him in, leaning against your doorframe.
Matt's wearing a black coat, grey sweatshirt with matching pants (slutty grey sweats), with his usual glasses. He brought one of his hands to your face, caressing it gently. His other hand glided down your curves to the end of your shorts.
"You leave the house in these?" Matt growled in your ear, cupping one of your ass cheeks.
"Not in the winter." You whisper in his ear, pulling him into your place. "Why? They're cute, no?"
"You keep playing with me." Matt took off his jacket, slipping his shoes off at the entryway. "I can be sweet, but once you tempt me too much, I can't hold back."
Matt seemed... angry. Territorial, protective, and angry.
"I would love to meet the sour side of you, Matthew." You go into your kitchen, grabbing a glass for wine. You open the wine bottle with a 'pop' and start pouring.
You feel Matt's body against your back, and a familiar erection pressing against your leg. Matt starts kissing your neck, subtly leaving bite marks to your shoulder.
You wanted to protest his touch and make him work for you. After all, he's still holding secrets that you don't know about.
Sipping your wine, you pressed your ass into him, teasing him more. You heard a breathy moan leave his lips, your core throbbing. Matt trailed his hands to your neck, pressing his fingers against the sides gently.
Fuck.
His fingers made their way to your shorts, sliding into them.
"No panties today?" Matt whispered in your ear, caressing your lips. "Bad girl." He slipped two fingers into your pussy, catching you off guard. "You're so wet for me too."
Setting the glass of wine on the counter, you lean into Matt's chest, letting your body bend to his every want and need. His calloused fingers pumped in and out of you while his lips were attached to your neck.
He could feel your walls pulsating around his fingers as you moan his name. "Matt, I-"
Matt's fingers retreat from your pussy, leaving you feeling a void in your core.
"You fucking tease." You turn to face him, a smirk taking over his entire face.
"What do you want, princess?" Matt took his two fingers and slid them in his mouth, sucking on them gently.
Fucking hell. This man is going to ruin you.
When you didn't reply, he asked again.
"I can't read your mind, princess. Tell me what you want."
Instead of telling him, you had a different plan. You led him to your bedroom, laying down on your back once you reached the bed. Your fingertips slipped under his sweatshirt, feeling his abdominal muscles and chest.
"For a writer, you certainly say little words." Matt snaked his body on top of you, hovering his lips an inch from yours. "Princess, tell me."
"You, Matthew. You." You reluctantly say against your better judgement. Your heart wants Matt, but your brain is saying to investigate these secrets before giving yourself to him.
We will deal with the brain later.
"Are you sure?" Matt takes off his glasses, caressing your cheek softly. "I know I messed up, I-"
"Pretend that's not happening right now. I don't want to deal with it. I just want you."
Matt's pillow soft lips pressed against yours for what felt like the first time in years. His movements were no longer based in anger, but they felt passionate. His right arm wrapped around you, pressing you into him as you rested your arms around his neck, opening your mouth to let him in.
His tongue found its home in your mouth and his hand was holding your face. "I missed you." Matt moaned, removing his lips from yours.
You took this as an opportunity to take your shirt off, leaving you in a lacy bra that you shamelessly wore hoping Matt would fuck you in it. His hands immediately went to your tits, kneading them slowly.
"Oh my god." His head went back. "I have so many favorite parts of you, but these make the top 5 for sure."
"What about this?" You bring his hand to the inside of your shorts, letting him feel your needy core.
"You don't know how long I've wanted to fuck you. That pussy of yours is addicting." Matt slid your shorts off, throwing them on the floor. "Are you sure you -"
"If you ask me again I'm gonna make you watch me fuck myself because I'm done talking." You unclip your bra, letting your tits bounce free. You grab Matt's sweatshirt and pull it over his head impatiently. He pulled his sweatpants off, his underwear were next.
You've never seen Matthew's dick, but you knew it was immaculate. The dick print in his sweatpants told you all you needed to know.
His dick sprung out of his underwear, hitting his stomach. It looked fucking glorious, if we're being honest.
You felt the tip of his dick tease your entrance, your arousal mixing with his pre-cum.
"Fuck, do you have a condom?" Matt stopped, looking at your face.
"Do we need one?" You raise your eyebrow, trying to ignore your pulsating cunt. "Cause if you're fucking anyone else, please -"
"I'm not fucking anyone else. Are you?" Matt cut you off, tilting his head to the side.
"No."
That was enough for him to gently push his tip into you, your walls spreading slowly to his size. A moan escaped your lips involuntarily.
Matthew moved with purpose, creating a rhythm with his lips as he plunged deeper and deeper into you. You wrapped one of your arms behind his neck, the other was holding onto his bicep.
"Fuck, princess." He moaned, his pace quickening. You could hear the sounds of your pussy against his dick, your arousal drenching him. "I can't believe how wet you are from me."
Matt slammed into you, hitting the spot that made your toes curl and your heart pound out of your chest.
"Matthew-" You moan, which only makes his pace quicken. He continuously hits your spot, still stretching your pussy to his size. Your walls pulsate around him as the world evaporated and it was just you, Matt, and your bed.
"That's it, beautiful." Matt said in a low voice, leaving bites on your neck as he continued to pound into you. "You're mine now."
A 2nd orgasm came after he said that. A breathy moan filled the room as Matt was about to reach his high. You felt his dick twitch as his rhythm quickened.
"Where do you want me to cum?" Matt said, almost out of breath.
The toxica in you came out to play.
"In me." You whispered in his ear, dragging your tongue along his earlobe.
Matt moaned your name before pushing himself one last time into you, filling you with his cum. You swear you could see his dick in your stomach. Once he pulled out, you felt like part of you was missing, but Matt was still there.
He grabbed a towel from your bathroom and cleaned you off, making sure you were okay and happy. Your cheeks were red-flushed, and your pussy was filled.
"You make me crazy." Matt pressed his lips to yours, lifting your chin. "I need everyone to know you're mine."
Your neck started to feel sore, then you remember Matt definitely left some bruises there for you to remember him by. You wondered why now all of the sudden he was feeling protective.
"I want to know you're mine." You search Matt's eyes, inching your naked body closer to his. "You have to let me in, Matthew. No more secrets."
Matt looked down, pulling your body into his. "I will. Just, please, give me time."
Time is something that cost nothing, but feels like it could mean the end of everything.
