random infodump about the various pokemon related shit i do online and beyond (this is about fandom/community stuff and not my actual in-game accomplishments):

i'm a moderator for the ribbon master discord, which is a community dedicated to getting as many ribbons as possible on individual pokemon (i have many ribbon masters myself!) technically i'm also a mod on the community reddit but uh i just let the other mods handle the reddit lol. i've been in the rm community for 4 years now

not me specifically but ayano who i share a brain with runs the pokemon fansite blue moon falls which has a lot of comprehensive articles and custom coded tools pertaining to RBY/GSC and the rest of gens 1 and 2 (she's the reason that the internet has all those nice gifs of stadium 2's idle animations now btw)

in speaking of ayano, she's also a full odds shiny hunter and is a decently well known name in that community due to her resources and general friendliness lmao

i'm not as active /w it atm because my art focus has been more on human characters but for the majority of my life i was what people would call a "pokefurry" and i have a metric fuckton of pokemon artwork under my belt

on that note i've written pokemon fanfiction on occasion too though nothing major

i'm a casual VGC competitor - i ladder in-game relatively often, keep up to date with the meta, and i attended my first regionals this year and met up with a lot of pokemon folk in the process! i hope to attend more events in the future

i'm planning on getting involved with a local pokemon convention near me to distribute mystery gifts for old pokemon games the same way a toys r us would in the early-mid 2000s

i have been a part of and donated money to a few indie pokemon sites and projects, including pokemmo, gpx plus, and pokemon eclipse (previously known as pokemon the moon rpg when i was a kid and played it for the first time!). in speaking of eclipse even though i don't play it anymore i'm the reason that a 3d model for shadowobliveon exists lol

i know a tiny bit about romhacking and made a romhack of firered that lets me play the entire game as kafu once, with kaf as my rival. i also have a bunch of personal lost media of "story" videos i made as a young child by stitching together recordings of fake cutscenes i romhacked into pokemon ruby

i made all these really shitty pokemon fangames when i was around 10 years old and i'm kind of obsessed with them

apparently i'm a pokemon horizons fan now and people keep acting like im the second coming of christ in terms of likodot on twitter so maybe that means something (LIGHTHEARTED I AM JUST SHOCKED BY THE POSITIVE ATTENTION)

i own more pokemon plushies than what's healthy and i wish i could show them here but a lot of them are in a storage bag rn

my pokemon game collection is also fucking ridiculous but i'm too lazy to put all that together for a photo. for what it's worth i own at least one copy of every single mainline pokemon game before the 3ds era including all alternate versions (diamond pearl AND platinum instead of just one for example) and almost all spinoffs aside from like, 3 of them

i'm probably forgetting shit tbh the 2010s are like a blackout void to me sorry

Top 5 fave pokemon??

This list used to be a lot edgier (Gengar, Yamask, Drifloon, etc) but then I got PokemonGo and mellowed out a bit in general

5. Excadril: my top workhorse in Pokemon Go... but time made me fonder of its whole evo line even when I first thought it was mid. I know better now, I admire their name pun and the steady dependability in performance that they and their Ground type brings to the team.

4. Gliscor: fav from the beginning, its pixel art form was so cute and unique in silhouette to me. Also I love that it bounces around on its tail to move AND has wings, it's so all-terrain on top of its rare purple-gray-pink color and blatant scorpion inspo. I think as a kid I took pride in liking them as if it gave me hipster points?

3. Swampert: eventually the I herd you liek mudkipz jokes stopped being ironic, and I really like Swampert's fuck-off energy. Plus I have fond memories of the safari areas and the cute safari ball. I would've used the safari balls outside of the area if the game let me... we dont talk about Marshtomp, awkward puberties are normal

2. Infernape: fav from the beginning, I chose Chimchar as a starter and took every victory with the rival NPC intensely personally, especially when my other Pokemon friends kept saying Water type Empolyeon was the best and most meta choice. I think I screamed when I got a lucky Monferno with 3* stats in Pokemon Go. I named it Sparks and immediately went broke powering it up

1. Weavile: I love this bratty menace of a pokemon and I have a 3* one named Bolero that I poured all my resources into in PoGo. To be honest I know if pokemon were real it would wreck my shit so fast it would end up on the 6 o clock news, but Weavile is such a vanity pokemon to have that this fact only makes them more of a prize 'mon. These things are canonically mean, nasty, and cut everything in sight up. If I would buy Taco Bell for my Excadril, I would have to buy raw steaks for Weavile.

For my Linoone icon, I was originally wanting an Obstagoon one but found mostly pokefurry art when I looked for pics. Zigzagoon was too cutesy for my taste, and Linoone was a good balance of something that looked like an animal that wasn't... disrespected... in depictions. For now it remains off the top 5 list because I don't have one with good stats yet in PoGo.

ok ok I don’t have much time but it IS time for my precious pokefurry nerd they are shy and kind and so so so strong it’s Kyr (They/Them) Kyr is an Ice/Dragon specialist from Unova. The first impression everyone gets of Kyr is this large, intimidating punk with the kind of fat-but-muscular build that only shows up in people who are actually strong. Interactions with Kyr do little to dispel this, as they’re abrasive, standoffish, and generally don’t string more than two words together without very good reason. This is, of course, a front. Kyr in actuality is actually a sort of shy autistic nerd with communication issues who named themselves after their pokesona, Kyurem. Kyr got a lot of shit in school for their generally weird and cringe demeanor, so much so that after a point they developed the tough persona to keep people away from them. Being avoided is better than being harrassed, after all. They ended up going to reborn specifically because it seemed like a tough place with a tough crowd where they could prove themselves via strength in battle and gain respect without having to open up to anyone. That said, the nerd does occasionally leak out, and most of the time when Kyr gets wordy, it’s often a direct quote from something like warrior cats or skyrim. They are highly confused as to why everyone keeps involving Kyr in their drama. Frankly they’re pretty confused in general; missing social cues like they’re zap cannon will do that to you. Their naming scheme is based on the Thu’um conlang from skyrim, using either canon shouts (Noivern is the famous FuusRohDah) or selfmade (Mamoswine, aka GaarMidNah [Unleash Loyal Fury]). Mamoswine is their ace, and thanks to passwords was one of their very first partners, A swinub she found in a back alley where it had been apparently kidnapped and left there. Kyr’s outfit is a large but well-insulated black coat that serves as a comfort item; Kyr’s biceps are a rare but incredible sight. Their long, messy white hair combines with an ice-blue scarf to obscure most of their face, all so they don’t have to deal with people reading their expression. The rest of their outfit is much the same story: simple, effective dark-colored clothing, suitable for a long hike in cold weather. They really don’t get along well with their rivals; each is a different flavor of “talks too much”. That said, whenever they meet someone who reminds them of their younger selves, you had better bet they’ll lay down everything they’ve got to protect them.

Alright, and that’s Kyr’s profile complete! I know these are a bit messy but I’m just trying to get all of my thoughts out on them. That’s the last of my reborn OCs, so next up is gonna be my first Rejuv OC, Annabeth! She’s very cute and very sweet but unfortunately she is covered in mud, because, well. Was the swamp fun Annabelle it looked fun

I know this is bc Pokemon in themselves are all mascots as is bc they’re made up animals to sell a product but god there’s been a missed opportunity in universe to have like, brands or PokeFurries that make more stylized and unrealistic Pokemons to be like Pokesonas or brand mascots A company that makes milk and cheese using a Miltank that’s white with some pastel blue splotches even though Miltank are usually entirely pink furred because it lends into the vibe more . Someone in a Pikachu fursuit with different looking eyes and a fluffy neck collar and some different markings . Etc etc Humans get creative distorting the visages of animals all the time to make them more whimsical or recognizable I feel like having in universe people not do the same w Pokemon is a lil bizarre unless like . The brand’s mascot is an actual living Pokemon and not just iconography they made up
